Fish fry @ Miku's house
I was a lazy w/ this but I wanted to contribute to the regional Miku trend bc I rarely see ANYTHING representing cajuns, and it's rare I have the motivation to pick up a pen in the first place nowadays

Since Hazbin Hotel popped off, I've seen a few times people asserting that there is something racist about Alastor's backstory, given that he is canonically a Creole from New Orleans, but his demon form does not have any overt indicators of his being a person of color
So here's a gentle reminder and clarification, as a Louisiana Creole myself;
"Louisiana Creoles (French: Créoles de la Louisiane, Louisiana Creole: Moun Kréyòl la Lwizyàn, Spanish: Criollos de Luisiana) are a Louisiana French ethnic group descended from the inhabitants of colonial Louisiana before it became a part of the United States during the period of both French and Spanish rule. They share cultural ties such as the traditional use of the French, Spanish, and Creole languages and predominant practice of Catholicism. Some mistakenly think the term is a racial designation, while in fact people of European, of African, and of mixed ancestry have all been termed "Creole" since the 18th century." (x, emphasis mine)
Please pay special attention to the last sentence. While many, probably most, Louisiana Creoles are of mixed-race ancestry, not all are. I'm not saying there aren't valid critiques of Alastor as a character, this just isn't one of them

okay this is probably a dumb question but re: catholicism in the antebellum/civil war south. i have ancestry in louisiana from the late 18th century up through the civil war that was french-speaking and mostly of french descent (though one person who came to louisiana from switzerland). these people weren't cajun, because they were never in canada. is it correct to call them creole/louisiana creole? I've always heard that used primarily to refer to mixed-race people, and all my ancestors were white as far as I know, but wikipedia says that creole is a term that crosses racial boundaries. also does it make a difference if the one guy was technically Swiss? I guess the Swiss guy wouldn't be Creole anything because he was not born in the "New World" but his wife and kids would have been, right?

Btw. If you're not cajun, creole, or franco-louisianan, you don't get to tell us who we are. Period. This is like discourse 101 for all other minorities but we get the short end of the stick because some of us are white.

Where is St Lucia/Lucian and what's it like there?
🇱🇨Saint Lucia changed hands of ownership between England & France 14 times!! Lol yes a whopping 14 times (7 times France, 7 times England) until England eventually won. But there is still many remnants of French influence that can be found like in our Kwèyól (Creole) language for example. We gained independence on February 22, 1979. We’re a volcanic island and you can even explore the Sulphur Springs where the (mostly inactive I hope🤣) volcano is. The drive in Sulphur Springs is one of our main tourist attractions along with our beautiful mountain peaks The Pitons. And if you like hiking you can tackle the Petit Piton and the more difficult Gros Piton. Like most islands we have our cultural events and our yearly carnival which is super lit 💃🏾✨🪅🎊🌴🇱🇨 Lots of great food especially fresh seafood and there are weekly fish frys you can attend in different parts of the island. There’s more I could mention but that’s a little quick summary for you 👍🏾❤️ 🏝️
