I have to say, while Derek would be easily swayed by the majesty of the Friesian horse, Killie would be scandalised (as many horsegirls are) by their grip on the public imagination as The Prettiest Horse.

You just like it because it’s big and shiny. It’s a carriage horse! It’s anachronistic! It’s barely in condition! It’s like an animated leather armchair! What do you MEAN it’s the prettiest horse you’ve ever seen. Thoroughbred racehorses, which can run at 40mph and look in comparison like a weasel strained through a colander, are the objectively best and prettiest horse. Are you feeling too hot? Do you have sunstroke? Is it sunstroke, that you have?

As we reach Born Again's climax, I believe it's time for Matt to finally face the music. To finally admit that, yes, every choice he's made as of late has been a part of one long nervous breakdown and that he has not recovered from the trauma of losing the man who was once his heart and home.

The classic, time-tested, Matthew Murdock grief process is for him to lose his mind for a week or so, then once he hit's a certain low, he snaps back on a pin drop and enters the longest phase of his grief: living his life in a haze and making increasingly rash decisions until they eventually ruin his life and/or the lives around him.

Beginning with him not speaking to Karen for weeks hot off Foggy's death and "retiring" from being Daredevil, the bulk of DDBA has been nothing but that long second phase. For the past eight episodes, we've been watching Matt edge the line between his secret identity and regular life, isolate himself from his girlfriend and coworkers, and make risky decision after risky decision. It is no secret that Matt is a ticking timebomb, and I think it is safe to assume that taking a bullet for Fisk is the climax of this spiral. He can't exactly "I'm fine" his way out of willfully being shot in the middle of a gala.

And with the inevitable hospital trip Matt's about to face coming up, I can't help but wonder if we'll finally get to see be this page adapted:

It's clear to us all that Matt's life has been feeling as rushed and displaced as it is because of his deteriorating mental health. But who will it be? Who will finally, truly, confront Matt on what's been going on with him? Who will be able to help him find himself again?

Heather attempted to pry Matt open in episode 7, and though Matt did admit to her that his life feels fake, he's clearly still hiding; clearly still running from the idea that Foggy's death broke something in him that he doesn't want to fix. It doesn't matter if she's a therapist and can analyze his mental deterioration, she just does not understand Matt as a person. There's a very blatant disconnect in Matt and Heather's relationship that I don't believe they will be able to fix. Matt's... never really been the best boyfriend/friend in the world (outside of college maybe) so you can't really blame Heather for being so short with him, but it's doing their relationship no favours.

Aside from Heather's attempt, Frank is the only other person (more or less) in DDBA who has gotten close to making Matt face himself. Frank is someone who's able to claw out Matt's deepest rage. It's bloody, beautiful, visceral, and born of deep heartache. But Matt's anger and hatred isn't what we need here. We need to find his heart --the one that was buried with Foggy.

I believe Karen is a very strong contender as for who can help Matt return to himself. Like Ben Urich in Bendis' run, she's been cut out of Matt's life long enough that returning to it in episode 9 with fresh eyes will have her crossing her arms and shaking her head. When she realizes how much he's let his life spiral out of control, I'm sure she'll be more than ready to knock some self-awareness into him. But deep in my heart, I hope it will be Kirsten.

So far, Kirsten has been getting the short end of the stick in the character development department. But, I'm hopeful. Her best and most fleshed out scenes have been from the post-overhaul episodes, and with the way she lifted Matt's glasses and pointed out his black eye in this weeks episode, I can't help but think (and pray) that she's about to get a lot more involved in Matt's personal life.

Where Heather tries to poke, prod, and force Matt into a corner until he admits that he needs serious help, Kirsten's the kind of person to make you feel comfortable enough that being honest with her comes naturally when you're ready for it. It's like that old idiom, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Heather, being the self-assured therapist that she is, can clearly recognize that Matt is mentally ill and has been trying to force him to admit it. But that just doesn't work with Matt. He's not stupid, he knows that his mind is eating him alive, but he's the kind of person who would rather give his all helping others than spend a minute helping himself. You're not going to get him to open up if you make him feel like his emotions are a chore, and this is why I so firmly believe that Kirsten should be the one to help Matt wake up and stop sleeping through life.

Kirsten is one of my favourite Daredevil characters and her relationship with Matt in the comics was easily his healthiest one. She's passionate, hilarious, takes no shit, and will always see straight through Matt. And when it comes to Matt's turbulent mental health, she knows when to push and when to back off; when it's safe to tease and when a joke might make him close off. I can't be the only one who cried when reading Daredevil Vol. 4 and got to the part where Kirsten could tell Matt was teetering on a breakdown and waited outside his place for when he'd be okay to open up. Kirsten's compassion and patience with Matt is something that will forever warm my heart. She's the kind of person I wish I had in my life.

Their relationship is everything to me. Please, Born Again showrunners, I beg of you LET KIRSTEN BE MATT'S ANCHOR!!!

Though most of Born Again has put Kirsten on a back burner, I can tell that the new showrunners understand her well and I really do hope that the show is going to give us a good slow burn romance between her and Matt. You can't just add Matt's best love interest (besides Elektra) into the narrative and have her played by an actress as perfect as Nikki M. James then NOT have her be endgame with Matt. There's so much potential between them!! They can't let their chemistry go to waste. Nuh uh, I REFUSE. So, with season 1's conclusion around the corner, I hope we'll get to see her be a guiding light to help Matt out of the dark sea of his mind.

One moment, Gojo Shiki is easily fending off the tall ice statues, and in the next, she falls.

No!

Kamado Tanjiro immediately grips his sword, and turns. But it’s no use. A long bolt of the brilliant pink brocade from the Obi Demon slams down in front of him, blocking off his path and tearing through the rooftop at the same time, destabilizing his footsteps.

He’s too far. Too far away to make it–

Gojo-san can’t die.

She can’t die. Gojo-san is the only demon slayer who’s killed an Upper Moon. She can’t die here, not like this–!

Tanjiro inhales deeply, forcing himself to focus. Use his father’s Hinokami Kagura for explosive strength, and the Breath of Water for restoration; both breathing styles in tandem with each other, just as he’d done to save Hinatsuru-san earlier.

He is not too far and he can make it. Please, please work–!

Tanjiro leaps. His sword cleaves through a snakelike tendril of pink cloth that blocks his way, heedless of any obstructions.

Midway through his leap, arched over the cloud of glittering frost that Gojo-san is fighting in, Tanjiro sees it.

The Ice Demon, Upper Moon Two, standing right in front of her.

Tanjiro’s blood runs cold, and it has nothing to do with the ice crystallizing in the air around him.

… Even so, he doesn’t give up. Tanjiro clenches his fingers around the hilt of his sword, gripping it with all his strength as he roars and brings it down with all his strength upon the demon that’s standing there carelessly with its back to him–

–and there is a sharp, shattering sound, as his blade cleaves into a lotus-shaped block of ice that suddenly materializes out of nowhere in front of him.

“My, my, how hasty” The tall demon turns towards him with a small frown. “It’s rude to interrupt a meal, don’t you know? I’ve been looking forward to this for a while.”

Upper Moon Two. The chilling characters are etched clearly into the demon’s eyes, and unmistakable identifier of its status and strength.

And Tanjiro can feel the way that the air almost seems to solidify around him, sharp and freezing and utterly choking when the demon snaps its fan shut and points it directly towards him.

“You–”

Whatever the demon is about to say is instantly cut off and will remain a mystery forevermore; its head suddenly falls off from its neck with a spray of blood. There’s a small expression of slight shock on its face –an expression that Tanjiro almost feels is mirrored on his own face, too, in this moment.

With a small gulp, Tanjiro lifts his gaze to look behind the demon. Gojo-san stands there impassively, with a bloodstained sword in her hand that’s dripping long crimson rivulets onto the ground as she proceeds to carve the rest of the demon’s body into pieces.

Outwardly, she doesn’t look to be injured too badly, but… there is still blood trickling down from her mouth, and she had literally coughed up blood earlier. Internal injuries? Oh, that wasn’t good.

“A-are you alright, Gojo-san?”

The girl does not respond. Instead, she silently wipes away a stark trail of blood from her lips, and tilts her head to glance backwards over her shoulder –directly towards where the fighting has ceased for a brief moment, where Upper Moon Six is staring with disbelief at the death of the higher-ranked demon.

“Next,” she says softly.

i am OBSESSED with that one yandere hantengu clone art! but i do wonder, did you change their appearance a bit to make them look alike but at the same time not? this is hard to explain, but i observed the clones nose shape, sekidos hair being more different than the others, and facial structures making them each being different. very sorry if this doesn’t make sense it’s hard explaining what i noticed (T ^ T)

Some things were probably accidental (like facial structure), but the purposeful tweaks were their eyes and hair yeah!

I wanted the viewer to be able to tell the difference between them without being explicitly told who's who.

I've heard that depending on what expression you're making often, it changes how you rest your face, and I wanted that to translate into how i drew them!

that and if you look REALLY closely, there are some subtle differences between them all in the anime/manga, so i accentuated those and added my own spin to it too.

So, if i were to draw the four making a neutral expression, it'd look something like this!

And that would HOPEFULLY be enough to give you an idea about who's who while also keeping their faces EXTREMELY similar yet a little different at the same time

but knowing me....... i'd probably still make it super obvious.......

I changed their nose because Hantengu had a sharp nose, and I thought it'd be hot cool to see them with one! I have no excuse for the eye bags and dimples.. they look like they have the type of hot guy aura to have those traits............... orz

I’m convinced nobody is asking the right hypothetical questions about the Truman Show. “Oh what do they do if he JERKS OFF?” In the movie they say the cut away with sex scenes. Yes it would be more awkward but they definitely would do the same thing here. “Why didn’t he start KILLING PEOPLE?” He doesn’t know he’s actually on TV until the very end. Until then, he just knows everyone around him is Up To Something. Also they gave him childhood trauma at a young age to make him risk averse on purpose. Also also. He does threaten to kill his wife a little.

The real question is how the fuck did they get anyone to watch the show for the first 1-3 years. He gets born on tv and that’s exciting I guess if you know what the whole premise is. But after that how are they gonna get networks to fund the Show About Some Baby. It’s literally just 24 hours of a baby + a shit ton of product placement. Round the clock gerber ad.
