By the way, when I say that I really do believe that we will make it, I am 100% saying that as someone who has been following good news extensively + basically daily for over two years now, and has come to that conclusion slowly and deliberately, based on extensive available evidence. I’ve always loved medicine bc it’s the perfect intersection of science and humanity—the two things I value above all else in this world. Truly adored it since I was in the cradle. But now I’m thinking about how so much of my journey to neurosurgery will have to involve KILLING my feelings essentially bc how do you survive otherwise

#Not to mention the surprisingly high suicide rate of surgeons that’s been brought to my attention lately #Honestly I just started my neuro internship and just saw my first patient in clinic #And on the day I did I was critical of my neurologist for being so robotic about it #Now I can see why #I’m still at a point where I can’t even do a chart review for a patient without feeling so fucking sad #And I can see how that can get unsustainable after a while #But it’s like if I kill the feelings that drive my passion for medicine to begin with then what’s the point #It’s not like I’m in it for the money or prestige bc that’s so dumb considering how long the schooling is #But literally how to deal #My supervisors at the clinic very much all speak about the dementia patients w a learned impartialness #But I don’t wanna be that way one day :( but how to be anything else and still survive #I’m pre med so I still have time and maybe my opinion will change and I’ll wanna do another specialty #But when it comes to this every specialty will involve human lives and navigating that regardless #That said I can see why surgeons are at higher risk or depression suicide etc #The whole point of this internship is to teach myself how to navigate this stuff but. Hate it #p #med tag

Contemplating going back to grad school but my farsightedness is so severe that even with reading glasses, I would need some of the accommodations for visually impaired students--large-print books, audio "narration" software for assigned texts in PDF format, that sort of thing. My glasses work less well with computer screens; I'm not sure why, maybe they need a blue light filter or something. The problem is that I'd be reading texts in three or more languages, which use three or more alphabets, and that's a lot of highly specialized software. I'm also dyslexic, which makes reading archival documents EXTREMELY difficult in conjunction with my vision. I would need a LOT of help, and I'm not sure any department would be willing to provide it

Hello there! Hope you're well! Got a couple questions about your commissions.

Do you have a waitlist for those who want commissions from you? I tried filling out the form when I got the phone push notification about the slots opening up yesterday but I didn't get my refs/form filled out in time before it closed (congrats for it filling btw).

Do you usually leave the forms open and then pick the commissions you vibe/think you'd do well out of all that were submitted... Or do you generally do a first come first serve till the slots fill up?

Hi! I'd be happy to answer these since my comms are starting to spread out to more folks!

So, the way I try and go about doing my commissions is:

I open my forms abt once a month, and take a handful of applications as to not overwhelm myself or have to turn down too many of them, and pick what I can do from those!

I have a ping list set aside for those who want to be notified each opening so they don't miss it, as well 👀

Though I don't necessarily pre-claim slots (the waiting list would not be fun for anyone), I try to make it so anyone who wants a comm has a chance at getting one :>

since i consider you a wise blog in the nu metal side of tumblr, i figured i'd ask you for help.

are there any nu metal ships you like or recommend? i've been reading so much davisdurst fics on a03 cuz there's a lot of it there, but I wanted to branch out but not sure where to start. i like korn, limp bizkit, slipknot, linkin park, crazy town, but i'm also down to check out ships of other nu metal bands and crossovers too. if shipping is not ur thing, i get it. disregard this message. just figured i'd ask since i'm not sure what other good ships are out there to check out.

Oh I adore this ask, thank you for taking the time to write it. I’ve been meaning to get back into nu metal shipping, it’s just so fucking fun.

Davisdurst is pretty much my otp but I also like any ship with Fred (names that come to mind are Head from Korn and Wes from LB) and especially any ship with JD or JDevil specifically (anyone in Korn but especially Fieldy and Munky and Chino from Deftones). Also within Limp Bizkit Sam x Wes is another very good ship with plenty of awesome fics courtesy of the fucking amazing @downtherabbitholewithlucy. They’re not super popular ships but I love the ship I call LB’s RhythmSection (John Otto x Sam Rivers) and DJ Squared (DJ Lethal and Sid from Slipknot, turntablists just understand each other like that). Had an amazing JD x Wes fic written for me once and it’s one of the best nu metal fics I’ve ever read, that ship has real potential. Oh and one time I got an ask on the confessions blog about shipping David Silveria and Shifty from Crazy Town and I’ve honestly thought about writing something for that because it sounds hilarious and could be hot as hell. I know there are some fics with guys from Linkin Park, Incubus, and Rage Against the Machine but I haven’t checked them out yet. Oh and lord in heaven, don’t get me started on the Slipknot ships. A polylover’s/multishipper’s/rarepairer’s heaven. Any of those are good but I like Clown x Sid, Jim x Corey, Paul x Anyone, Chris x Craig, and Joey x Anyone.

I totally would be down to get some shipping going with the guys from The Union Underground and Crazy Town and shit like that because they’re totally slept on shipping-wise and those are some good looking guys with writable personalities. Haven’t gotten around to it myself because…😅
