what is COINING CROWS ?

- Coining Crows (comic) -

A Short prequel of KEEPING CROWS about the world building and how the ‘Keepers’ became what they are in the current story. It’s kind of generic fantasy with a lot of flavor to the worldbuilding.- Many of the characters in this story interact with or effect the other stories through the main trilogy.

Currently I've only got the first Chapter of their written story drawn out, but everything is written as well as Chapter 2 being thumb nailed- i plan to do more work on it once i'm able to spend more time doing art (I have a day job- sadly). If you want to see more of them, and help me make more chapters of the story, you can always support me on Ratreon. otherwise, i'll post doodles and lore of them here and there. finishing their whole comic is a big of a backburner project.

so we all know about “who the hell is jordie?” “someone i trusted. someone i couldn’t afford to lose”, right, but what we forget is the significance of kaz calling jesper ‘jordie’. it’s not just that jesper is a brother to him- jordie was kaz’s protector. jordie was the 13 year old that protected kaz and who kaz protected, the goofy one who made him smile and bought him hot chocolate at night. he felt safe around him. he trusted jordie with his life. in calling jesper ‘jordie’, kaz shows that subconsciously, he trusts jesper to protect him, that he could turn to him should he need it. and every time he yells at jesper, the gambler who couldn’t stay out of the red, for losing another bet, getting in debt again, all he can see is that same thirteen-year-old boy, swindled out of everything he owned and left for dead on the street. with every word he yells at jesper, he silently urges him to stay alive. with every bet jesper makes, all kaz can think is “i can’t lose a brother. not again.”

shuake week 2024 day 1: roleswap AU

they call blackmask ren ‘hat guy’ because it’s his most distinguishing feature (nah bc it’s goofy just like scaramouche)

i have thought A LOT about this au, including their personas

blackmask (hat guy) joker has odin (loki’s counterpart), and prince joker has arsène (i changed the design a little though)

and now have a sketch dump with notes:

explaining the choices i made/thought process when coming up with the designs and personas, and arsène’s design lol

i was considering a red outfit for (prince) joker, but went with blue so it could be more refreshing! and also because he is reflecting goro (and to a degree naoto)

red is passionate, bold, and angry (righteously angry). blue is calm, collected, intelligent.

akechi’s colour feels blue, he wears a blue vest on his casual outfit, his blackmask outfit is blue and black, and robin hood has blue in his design. in the 3rd semester his true self is calmer and much more reserved. true he does kind of go chaotic in the metaverse but he’s blue.

BUT his prince outfit is red and white, like a reflection of joker’s but white instead of black. akechi sees rebellion as passionately wanting to uphold justice. he wants to reflect the passion in joker’s red

so roleswap au, of course that’s reversed! two sides same coin all that jazz

maybe detective prince akechi wants to come across as more passionate (about justice) than he might seem or feel. and maybe detective prince amamiya wants to seem calmer and more intelligent than he might seem or feel.

You know you're obsessed with the Crows when you finish reading A Game of Thrones and your only thought is that Inej would be an amazing dragon mom

once upon a time, there was a crow who lived too long for it own good. one day, death came to him: "crow, I think it's your time to go"; to which the crow lamented,

"i'm afraid i cannot go, for i have not yet found myself a bride. how could one leave, without once being in love"

death thought for a moment and agreed, "perhaps there's something in that. very well, keep looking, but i will be back."

so the crow kept living, and searching. for more than 300 years it roamed the earth. it stood at cross roads, perched on fences, flew accross star-lit nights, and basked its shiny black wings through sun and rain.

it cawed under rose-tinted windows and breezy barn-doors, frequented markets and fairs, even did its fair share of songs at spring-time dances. yet, tried as it might, the crow could not find someone to love. this was certainly not through a fault in character - the crow was just so content with itself, longing was something much unheard of.

and how could one be in love, without once yearning?

another 300 years passed, and time caught up with the crow. little by little, the fraying nipped at its tail, all the way to the back of its mind. sleep started to feel like dredge at the bottom of a wine glass. the crow found itself walking a lot now. the sky was just as beautiful as ever, but its feet found comfort in the sturdiness of the soil.

another sunny day, the crow was wandering through the woods when, from deep in the dark pine groves, came low hums and whistles in a foreign tongue that peaked its curiosity. following the sound, the crow arrived at a clearing to see a strange being: a maiden covered from head to toe in veils and cloths. she sat on top of a dark buffalo, hands deftly spinning wool from a drop spindle. the crow was awe-struck, and took a step closer.

the maiden looked up, greeted the crow with flutting lashes and glinting eyes behind the black black head-cloth. it knew then, that it was in love.

courting was a simple affair. the centuries taught the crow very well, on how to go about things. before another spring rolls around, the crow's wedding was all in place. man, beasts, birds and other things all came to rejoyce the matrimony of the crow and the maiden in black. they all sang and danced through 3 night and 3 days. afterall, it was not so often that a crow found love.

when the wine stopped flowing, the fireworks died down and the guest left, the crow and its bride went to bed. finally, under the cover of darkness, it gently lifted the black veil from her head. they gazed at each other adoringly, a smile drew on both their faces. with reverence, the crow pressed its beak against death's lips, and fell asleep.

if you bring taash with you to the treviso market, they help the confused qunari healer desperately trying to make herself understood by telling her to go find teia, and she thanks them afterwards when she's found a place with the crows........ augh my heart. there are so many small wonderful moments like that hidden away in this game that build up the background texture of the world and people
