And yes, that is the same knight from the previous comic! Who knows what they’ve endured to reach these two. Weeks of travel, and not once did they stop to wonder if they might be biting off more than they can chew.

Happy to announce (for real this time lol) that our evil dragon mom, Avoryx the Wicked, has been plushified and will be wreaking havoc for 21 days on Makeship, after which she will take flight to conquer the next realm!

So we've meet Hopper's family but what about Swordfish?

Since you were all so curious! :)

Swordfish was still in the egg when it happened. His parents weren’t the traditional gold-hoarding, conquest-hungry kind of dragons. They guarded the land without meddling in human affairs.

When Avoryx, a malevolent wyrm ruined and twisted by her own past, came down from the sky, she destroyed everything and everyone she saw as a threat to her future offspring. Her only goal was make the world safe for the child she hadn't yet hatched. She defeated Swordfish’s parents in battle, though she got grievously injured herself. The dragon slinked away to tend to her wounds, leaving the egg undiscovered.

Avoryx’s conquest marked a new era of fear and despair, but over time, she slowed, and the land recovered. But by now she has made so many enemies, and her past will catch up to her. Dragons like her always meet the sword.

But anyway she doesn’t eat Swordfish because he’s Hopper’s best friend forever and she doesn’t want to make her rosy-hued baby sad!

Is there any lore about your dragons, either specific characters or dragons in general, that you haven't shared yet but want to? I would love to know more about your dragons but aren't sure which questions to ask. I guess one I'll start with is, how are breath weapons/elements decided? Is it genetic or a choice?

Gosh this ask is very old I apologise!

Honestly I’d love to expand the whole headworld my dragons are living in! There’s a crapton of different mythical beasts living beside them, and I’ve yet to depict them in my comics (well, until today - I uploaded one on Webtoon but it would be a spoiler). I’m also working on a kelpie character who happens to be a donkey, so hopefully we’ll see that soon. When I finish researching all the different donkey breeds!! So I guess that’s the lore I haven’t shared yet but want to!

For your second question: it’s genetic, but also sorta magically environmental? It’s common for a dragon to inherit the breath of one of its parents’, but if a fire dragon raises a hatchling in a particularly watery environment for some reason, the hatchling might breathe boiling water or steam as an adult. Or your traditional fire, but it’s colder and/or a different color. There are no real rules to it (except for the rule of cool)!

I use he/him for Swordfish and she/her for Hopper, but I don’t mind if these are not followed! You may refer to my characters however you like.

I couldn’t resist the art vs artist trend!!! What a whirlwind of a year 2024 has been!

So many moments of joy and excitement, challenges to face! I feel like I’ve grown so much, both artistically and as a person. To me, this year feels like a breakthrough!

Art-wise, I got more comfortable with backgrounds, and they started appearing so much more often in my comics. It’s wonderful to look back on them and still feel proud of those panels. This year also saw the introduction of new dragon characters with diverse personalities and shapes! We witnessed Hopper and Swordfish slowly growing into sliiiightly more regal-looking wyrms, both in appearance and personality. My style has definitely shifted to a more mature and refined place. This feels only natural, and I can’t wait to see how my art and dragons evolve in the year to come!

In 2024, I also launched my very own store, a pin pack of Swordfish and Hopper, and a dragon plushie! I posted more often than I did last year, but it’s my hope and goal for 2025 to share even more consistently.

Creativity isn’t something to force, so I won’t be too hard on myself if I fall short of this goal. Instead, I want to keep working on finding a balance between my art and life. It’s an ongoing journey, and while I know I’ll never achieve a perfect balance (because life ebbs and flows), I can keep moving closer to a version of it that feels right for me.

She might be a tiny bit insecure about it.

It only recently started snowing here in my usually cold, baltic country lol! Winter was particulary late this year, so this comic was a coping mechanism because it has become one of my favourite seasons :D I'm just uncomfortably hot any other time!!
