When they were younger, Stanley always thought that if they were birds Ford would be an eagle. Big, powerful although he doesn't appear to be now, the American dream, a symbol to be looked up to...
Or maybe he'd be a peacock, large and beautiful, spreading his beautiful tail for others to admire. Cocky too.
Stanley? Oh, he was a seagull definitely. He'd soar over the sea, steal from tourists and have the name of the sea forever etched into his name and heart.
At some point, that changed. He isn't sure why... Seagulls we're things that used to be an everyday thing, people usually hate those little fuckers- Not Stanley, Stanley encouraged the chaos (as ling as they kept off his food).
But...the sea was no longer his, was it? The sea was something little Stanley belonged to. Not anymore...he'd be a magpie maybe, a little thief with beautiful feathers that flash blue in the sun to trick people into thinking he's anything beautiful...
What Stanley didn't expect was for him to turn into neither of those options but a big raven. Black feathers the color of coal, of the night of darkness and all that is negative.
He hadn't expected to be fully ugly, scruffy feathers and croaky throat, detested by everyone and always seen as a bad omen...Although, he should've expected it.
His beliefs of being any sort of bird was- others don't have to like me because I will like me, it's how it has always been and how it will always be...
Now, he's not so sure anymore. Whatever lie he told himself that he could still be loved had been scared away by the low croaks of a raven throat, whatever hope he had to return to his family and be welcomed has been dimmed by the blackness of his feathers.
Whatever kindness he dreamed of one day getting has been taken by his new raven unkindness.

Still growing up .
This is one of the youngsters from last year. (See here and here and here and here). The young one is still hanging around with their parents, but I think soon they will be driven away by their parents as the new nesting season starts.

She might be a tiny bit insecure about it.
It only recently started snowing here in my usually cold, baltic country lol! Winter was particulary late this year, so this comic was a coping mechanism because it has become one of my favourite seasons :D I'm just uncomfortably hot any other time!!

My dad and his friend found some baby crows and raised them. Simon and Garfunkel. (one of them turned out to be a girl, which they learned when it layed eggs.)
They found them at my grandparents cottage, and brought them back home with them. My dad's, Garfunkel, lived in his tree house, and loved to steal shiney things. And the greatest part of all, is how he only hated one person of their family of 6, and it was my grandmother. No one knows what she DID, but any time she would try to go out back, he would dive bomb her. (she wasn't a great lady, so it may have been deserved.)
Anyway, the next year, my dad and his friend brought them back up north, and the birds went free. (mainly because my grandmother couldn't take it anymore).
Apparently, this is the shit you did in Michigan in the early 60s.
So yes, befriend that crow, and teach it to torment your enemies!
Tumblr media
Be weird, talk to the crows, befriend them, feed them, let them follow you home. Greet them each and every time they're near.
Crows are enchanted ✨️. They teach us from a young age to leave them alone, just like they teach us that magic is "evil".
Believe me when I say... Befriend the crows 😉

I love the concept of Raven!Stan so much.
Tbh I like to think he'd learn to say 'nevermore' and tap his beak on everything just to fuck with Ford like the poem. It drives Ford nuts.
I honestly don't know that poem and am sad I'm finding this out now. I think I only saw one verse from it and didn't know it was a whole poem :c
There are actually a lot of raven stories, most make them to be mean spirited which is sad cuz they're just goofy guys. It perfectly suits Stan though, the guy is used to being frowned upon.
Raven Stan is one of my fave picks (not just because corvids♡) but because they were used to find dry land in sailing too♡ which I think would eventually connect to Ford and him remembering Stanley anyway (and feeling guilty >:] )

The birds eating the Gavle Goat are jackdaws, which are corvids, but not crows.
People also call the family corvidae the "crow family" but that family includes ravens, jays, rooks, magpies, etc. So, I guess you could call jackdaws crows if you really want to, but if you're going to do that you should commit to that classification and call bluejays crows as well.
The jackdaws are, however, very cute, and very good for taking up the mantle of destroying the goat.
