Fictober23 Prompt: 21 - "Just in case this doesn't work."
Fandom: DPxDC
Rating: T
Warnings: -
A/N: Inspired by this Post about Danny bullshiting his way by saying he is Tims future kid. Also once again posting this early, cause I need to destress tomorrow and not worry about writing or work or anything.
Edit: Thanks to @kisatamao in the comments I found the post again that inspired this and linked it!
"Chronus"
"Nowadays I go by Clockwork."
"Fine, Clockwork then."
"John Constantine."
The Ancient of Time and Justice League Dark members stared at each other blankly. Until the ruler of time smiled and Constantine sighed. "How is the time baby doing?"
"Very well. Your timeline is safe. There was an incident that could have possibly splittend the timeline again and in a way it did but the destruction timeline was once more prevented, by the child himself like I hoped for. Three times now."
Constantine grunted, lighting a cigarette and taking a long drag. "You know if Bats or any of his kids ever learn about this I will be the one to take the burn right?"
Clockwork only smiled a knowing smile and Constantine paled. "When?"
"Where is the fun if you knew. The little Drake has been quite unpredictable and entertaining." The Ancient mused floating around the room and Constantine's eyes narrowed.
"There won't be a paradox?"
Clockworks tilted his head with a mischievous smile on his face. "Well the timeline in which he was born no longer exists and his father of this time line has ceased his efforts in cloning. He never even got to the point of trying to combine his own DNA with the one he so desperately wanted to clone."
"I feel like I am hearing secrets I definitely do not want to know. Just tell me if this timeline is safe or not now."
"It is safe. Your timeline has now a true Ancient of Balance in the making and just in case this doesn't work, I have anchored Daniel's existence in this timeline with several means one of which was his own time clone created from a split of destruction line."
Constantine's eyes twitched. "For all of our sakes I hope Bats never finds out about this. If he ever learns that I replaced a still born with a grandson of his from a different destruction timeline… You know what, I am not nearly drunk enough for any of this mate!"
Clockwork chuckled, his eyes glinting with unhidden amusement. "Well John Constantine, would you like a word of advice?"
The JLD member took another long drag of his cigarette before flicking the butt of it somewhere to the side. "No riddle."
"When 17 turns to 4 it is not the grandfathers, you should fear."
"I said no riddles!" Constantine huffed as clockwork disappeared from his side. He brushed his hair with one hand, glaring at the spot where the Ancient of Time had been. He should have never agreed to help that damned being 15 years ago, having been somewhat of a beginner then John did not realize what kind of deal he had agreed on.
Now he wasn't sure if he should be relieved or fearful of the consequences. Especially now that he had worked with the Bat Family a couple of times already.
Exactly one year later Constantine decided he was fucking fearful!
Unknown to the Brite a lot of things can happen in three years. Like Parents turning on their child after accidentally learning about a truth. A teenager that was already hurt trying to salvage whatever peace he could.
—--
"Mom! Dad! I swear it's still me, Danny!"
"Give me back my baby boy you monster!"
—--
A governmental organisation committing mass genocide on an interdimensional species.
—--
"Ember, get out of here! Now!"
"Baby Pop! What about the others?!"
"Dan already released them! Get out of here! I will hold them off and keep them busy!"
—----
The interdimensional species try to convince said teenager fighting for them to forgo humanity.
—--
"Welp, this can't go on. No hunt is worth this much."
"Give it up already. The humans made their decision."
"They broke too many rules, it is time they suffer the consequences."
—--
A heavy conflicted ending with the teenager receding into its core and getting picked up by one of his papa from a different timeline.
—--
"What kind of crystal is that? It radiates a pretty strange but familiar energy."
"I wanna see! I wanna see!"
"If it's not dangerous, why not keep it?"
"It looks like there are snowflakes in it."
—--
The kid then reformed out of his core in his ghost age instead of human age with a green note appearing on his forehead. Said note confusing the kids papa making him contact the kids dad.
—--
"Tim you won't believe this…"
"Kon you sound weird, what is going on?"
"Remember that shiny crystal I picked up at the end of our last case?"
"The one with the snowflakes in it, yes."
"I think I just became a dad."
"WHAT?!"
—--
Which then led to the dad overanalyzing the note while the kid insisted that a certain ghost was involved. The child's grandparents then getting tipped off through the grandchild of the Ancient Constantine still curses in his mind.
—--
"So Pandora mentioned something to me."
"Hn."
"Have you tried asking Constantine about it? He is apparently in contact with a being that likes to write cryptic messages on green notes, or that's what Pandora told me at least."
"..."
"And your new grandchild came with such a note right?"
—--
And now John Constantine was fearing for his life, because Batman had tried to contact him several times now. Several times Constantine had found reasons to ignore. Only for the Bat to come knocking on his door -well more like rudely kicking it down- with fucking Super too! He was cursing up a storm internally and thinking of how best he could get out of whatever had crawled up the two hero's asses when right behind the two hero's stood another set of hero's he did not want to face especially when he noticed one of them holding a four years old toddler in his arms.
"Chronus you fucking asshole!" The Brite muttered to himself as the four hero's plus time baby stood before him demanding answers.
That was when the toddler piped up, eyes glowing a bright green. "So Clockwork does have something to do with this! I knew it!"
"Danny, sweetheart not now. You can tell us you were right after we figured out what timeline you are from and if we need to send you back or can keep you." Red Robin calmed the now pouting toddler Super Boy was holding and petting with a small chuckle. While Batman and Superman turned on Constantine.

Ruthless Heir
DP x DC Prompt
I've seen many Demon Twins concepts, and I thought that I'd shake things up a bit for the idea
The twins, Danyal and Damian, have been training hard to meet their father. Their mother, Talia al Ghul, has told them that they need to earn the right to see their father, so that's what they do, and they push themselves past their limits, they play less, and they stop being kids.
They were close to being strong enough to meet their father, and then a rebellion in the League happened, led by Deathstroke. The twins fought Deathstroke together and sent him away, but Danyal was too injured and needed to be put in the Lazarus Pit to heal. Danyal never resurfaced.
Danyal had appeared in a different dimension, where he lived a mostly happy life but missed the warmth of his mother's embrace and the twin who was by his side for as long as he remembered.
Damian had gone to their father, grieving his brother, thinking that he is dead. Damian has another brother, but not by blood, Duke Thomas, the boy their father took in. He doesn't want another brother. He just wants Danyal back.
The events of Danny Phantom happened without much change, but with Danny training to become the Ghost King, when Danny reveals his Ghost Half to his parents, he is attacked and given to the GIW. He is tortured by experiments and cut open to be studied. But when Jazz and his best friends save him, they are taken out one by one until its just him and Jazz. She managed to get him to the Fenton Portal before collapsing at the bottom of the stairs. The last thing Danny remembers is Jazz telling him to keep going, so he does so, even with his weak body and damaged core.
While Danny was floating in the Infinite Realms, Clockwork had picked him up. He hadn't anticipated this happening. He thought that the timeline would be alright if he didn't interfere with anything in it. He should have interfered, then Danny wouldn't be like this.
As Clockwork prepares to send Danny back to his original dimension, he puts Danny's core into a 'Suppressed State', a state only for Halfa's that allow their cores to heal faster than normal Ghosts, but that state also suppresses their emotions and makes them viable to changes in their behavior and obsessions while they are suppressed. He sends Danny back to the Lazarus Pit he never resurfaced from when he was a child.
Danny resurfaced in the Lazarus Pit as Ra's was about to leave the cave it was in. His initial shock was quickly forgotten. His second heir had returned, and he will use his teenage heir to get to his adult heir. He never sent word to Talia, who was on a long mission, about her son's return.
Talia did return and had seen her other son in the big open training area, killing rebels ruthlessly, who decided to attack while Ra's was away. She rushed to his aid. And when the battle was over, she turned her attention to her son, the one who was always so much like his father, with Green Eyes like Damian, a face void of any emotion, and nothing like the little boy she loved.
She heads to Gotham to tell Damian and Bruce about Danyal's return. She couldn't get Danyal to come with her, as he vanished after telling her that Ra's told him to remain in his home. She hopes that Damian will be the person to get the old Danyal back. Her attempts to do so had failed.

A DC X DP IDEA #30
Salvage Tomorrow.
Imagine dis...
Every flash who has ever gone back in time tried to make the future a little bit better. From the main Flash Barry Allen to his future grandchild, Bart Allen. But he came from a desolate future, a future of ruins. He may have the power from the original Flash but it had been watered down, he may be fast but not as fast as the fastest man in the world, so the question is…
How did he come back to the past?
He did not have enough energy or power to travel through the speed force and through time to safely arrive in the past without disintegrating himself… So how?
….
Danny Fenton also known as “Phantom” was thrust into another mission by Clockwork but instead of his usual errands where he needs to retrieve something, this time he needs to ensure a certain event must happen.
When Danny asked which point of time he would be sent Clockwork admitted that he would be sent to the future where Dan came from.
That startled Danny because as far as he is concerned the future is now gone and the main event where Dan is formed has been avoided, also Dan is slowly mellowing out and he is very sure Dan developed a soft spot for him. Clockwork sensing his ward’s question chose to open a portal to that timeline and began to explain. There is another event that must take place just as after Dan goes back in time just to ensure he was made, a speedster was supposed to travel back in time to prevent another major apocalypse and he needed a bit of help.
Clockwork also suggested Dan to come along, Dan is a bit skeptical since he left an impression on the remaining humans. Danny assured him that he could do this alone and he had done it multiple times. Dan just snarked back that Danny might be attacked and it would be a shame if he died from a puny human.
With much more arguing Danny was sent back to the past to help the Flash at the time to go back in the past.
…
When Danny gets to the end of the portal, The scene surrounding him is eerie, with degradation and ruins that represent the once-thriving society that he remembers. Collapsed buildings and overgrown plants litter the streets, showing the remnants of a once-thriving community. Danny can practically taste the ash that clung in the air.
There he was, He couldn't help but wince at the future that his future self did, no wonder the Observants wanted him dead the moment Danny gained his ghostly powers. He can barely sense any living being as for the undead one, immediately cleared out of his way the moment he even breathed in his direction. Using invisibility he flew to the nearest human camp that he had sensed after 3 days of exploring for any signs of life. According to Dan, Danny remembers, that he knew there was a small group of humans who survived the initial killings and tried to hide from him
He saw that the majority of them were civilians living off the scraps they had found in the ruins of their cities. Some were trying to plant some seedlings into the soil, but Dan had poisoned the soil with ectoplasm as a form of a slow execution or some sort. All of them are weary and vigilant as if Dan would come back any moment to finish them off.
Of course, Danny can't just stroll there, from the way they tense they would run off any minute plus he didn't know which one would go to the past.
At first, he started off helping them in terms of small things like if they were a bit cold during the night a few more blankets would appear. They were running out of drinkable water, a trail suddenly appeared towards a small creak that wasn't infected by the ectoplasm.
At first, everyone was able to brush it off as a stroke of luck but then the remaining heroes or those who have a connection to the said former heroes began to doubt the sudden gifts they tried to catch the person giving them gifts but it took a child’s laughter to catch their invisible helper.
…
Danny was just dropping off another small batch of supplies hidden a few feet away from the main group so that when they went exploring they could find the said supplies. The group for exploration left the camp leaving with a few children who had survived along with some young adults to watch over the said kids. One of the kids began crying as if their situation finally sunk in, Danny who was still invisible tried to comfort the child but it was then the group to explore went back and Danny forgot to turn on his invisibility, Let us just say panic ensued.
…
After the entire fiasco of yelling, shouting, fear, and screaming they can talk civilly to each other after a few weeks of Danny proving himself further that he is not Dan despite looking like a smaller carbon copy of the man.
Danny didn't want his relationship with Dan to be known so he let them draw their conclusion, he heard from afar that they were slowly trying to trust him as if he was truly Dan they would have killed them already since Dan broadcasted his fight, do you even call a massacre a fight? To enjoy their screams.
Danny was too elated to hear the good news that he missed their conclusion of him being Dan’s son who is trying to do good despite their father being the cause of such an apocalypse.
A Bat, from the insignia etched to their chest, finally interrogated Danny on why is he there and Danny homestyle told them that he could be a battery. At first, a flash of surprise etched on their face then went back to their neutral form. The said Bat member asked how Danny knew, Danny evaded the question and proceeded to insist that he could help whomever they were sending to the past since not only they are missing the needed parts to their machine but they also needed a battery powerful enough to power up the machine.
…
After a much-needed trade and interrogation, they finally decided to let Danny help. With Danny’s expertise, they were able to finish the pod to let one of them travel back in time. Bart Allen was chosen as not only he is a speedster but when it comes to the delicate balance of time travel the Flash’es are the ones to handle it.
Just as they fire the pod that contains Bart, Dan suddenly appears looking grimly at the group, Danny, and the machine. Bart’s final moments before he was sent to the past were the horrified looks from the group that protected him and Danny’s scared/grimacing face at the face of Dan.
…
The last remaining group of humans slowly disappears as a result of Bart’s change in the timeline. The Bat looks at Danny with a determined look trying to blurt out codes to Danny that if he ever needed help the Bats in the past should recognize the code.
Bart and The Last Bat can’t help but get close to the ghost boy who despite his father tries to do good.
…
As the last human disappeared Danny can’t help but blurt out to Dan that it was hard to gain their trust, and that’s why he was late. Dan just rolled his eyes and told Danny that he was there to fetch him since this timeline was about to vanish. Danny the ever petulant child let Dan drag him by the collar to the portal as he watched the reality he knew for a few weeks gain cracks and destroy itself.
Surely Danny thought, he would never see Bart again. He had been Phantom since he was 14 and it had been 3 years since his accident and there had been no contact from Bart.
…
Meanwhile, Bart has been trying to find a Phantom ever since he went back in time. As if the universe is against him when it comes to trying to find Danny, something is at foot and needs his full attention. During his mission, the theory Phanton is the son of Dan” solidified when he saw multiple cave paintings and even mentioned Dan. Which made Dan old enough to procreate.
…
It was a mission gone wrong that reunited the two. Bart along with Kon and Tim on a usual mission to bust some villain's butt, but of course when things got too well things went sideways, and able to kidnap them.
Opening his eyes, Bart took a good look around him, he was cuffed with anti-meta cuffs that dampened the powers of metas who committed a crime. He along with his teammates are all tied up in some sort of Occult Ritual for the Lazarus pits. Bart joked to Tim also known as Red Robin that this only happens in Gotham and they were states away from Gotham. Tim who is looking at their predicament with seriousness chose to ignore Bart. Bart looked a bit bored and thought that this must be a good idea to page Danny.
As the cult group tries their botched pronunciation of Esperanto, Bart who is known as a man of science just like the original Flash and Wally, clears his throat and begins chanting alongside the cultists. As the mist suddenly invaded the room, ice began sprouting from the floor trapping the cultist inside of them.
Both Red Robin and Superboy are now on the edge seeing the cultists were able to summon something and Bart is now smiling across his cheeks since he recognizes that ice anywhere.
Bart yelled out to Danny in the mist, both Red Robin and Superboy were now looking at him with surprised looks as someone responded to Bart. A white-haired teen wearing royal regalia from his head to his boots with glowing green eyes reminded Tim of the Lazarus pits.
The mysterious white-haired teen greeted Bart tiredly as seen from the deep eyebags below his eyes. Bart immediately went to chatter Danny’s ears off as Danny tried to free them from their bindings. Just as Bart excitedly introduced Danny to his friends, Danny immediately went alert and told them to hide immediately. Tim and Conner who are still distrusting Danny, suddenly yelped at Bart as he dragged them to hide behind one of the ice pillars.
Tim the ever detective tried to ask what was going on and Bart just hushed them with an attitude that they had never seen from the time-traveling teen. A green glowing portal appeared behind Danny and what emerged made Bart’s face turn paper white.
Tim has questions about what is happening and opts to stay quiet and observe. Bart whom Tim knew as cheerful, chatty, and optimistic about the dire situation suddenly went quiet and began to fear whomever appeared behind “Danny’s” back.
The thing that emerged from behind Danny is a larger, buffer version. Of himself with a few details and traits missing from their savior to the newcomer. Danny tensed and asked why is he there and the new commer smirked grabbed “Danny” by the collar and dragged “Danny” towards the portal while “Danny” was weakly protesting.
The moment the portal disappeared Bart looked in the direction where their savior had been dragged off with a mix of confusion and dread and immediately barked at Kon to break the cuffs that hindered his powers while marching towards the direction to the nearest Zeta tube.
…
Danny just answered a cult’s calling not because he wants to evade his paperwork no sir, he is one responsible halfa and he would never use every excuse he can come up to escape paperwork. The ritual that the cult is using is powerful… oh no….. He deadpaned at Dan as he disappeared from the castle.
When he did appear at the scene he immediately spotted Bart, no wonder he heard a familiar voice in between the botched Esperanto. Danny is just happy to reunite with his friend when he feels Dan is fetching him. Danny told Bart and his friends to hide as Dan might scare them, first impression people!!!
Danny wants to introduce to Bart a redeemed Dan after he asks Bart if he is okay with seeing the person who turned the world into ruins. He may never listen to Jazz when she rants his ears out but some knowledge tends to stay you know.
Dan just smirked as he dragged Danny away knowing that another pile of paperwork added to the mountain of it. Danny just whined to Dan about why is he even doing this when Dan is the regent, it was agreed upon by the Ancients that Dan should be a stand-in as the king of the Infinite Realms while Danny finishes his royal studies to become king and his human life. Dan just said that he just has to look pretty while Danny does the actual things.
Danny just pouted at the notion, as he lay his head on the table that impressively holds the tons of paperwork that reaches to the ceiling of the former king’s castle he can’t help but notice his relationship with Dan. Gone with the anger and malice, replaced with fondness and affection between them, brother, a word Dan accidentally muttered when he thought he was asleep.
Dan is painting himself a target, Danny mused, with the GIW doubling their efforts, despite their continuous idiocy the rare times they managed to capture one is devastating. Any none ghost knew that there was a new king but not who, with Dan’s appearance could easily gain all the enemies of the real king aka HIM. Declaring Dan as the king is keeping him safe and unknown to everyone aside from the closest Ancients who knew the truth.
A ploy to keep him safe.
Danny just sighed and wished Bart could help him out of the paperwork.
…
Meanwhile, the JL is in a panic, Time travelers typically avoid telling directly what’s going to happen to avoid further complications the moment they step their feet, so they try to steer the present just a little bit for a better future. So when Bart, the time traveler from a desolate future bursts into the meeting room full of the founding members with two of his teammates trying to catch up to him, about Danny. Flash immediately jumps into action telling Bart to stop what is doing, Bart reiterates that Danny is not his father and Batman immediately barks out a report.
So Bart explains, explains a ruined future, a future full of poison that seeped into the soil and water rendering everything dead, a future where there were only small groups of humans, a future where it was ruled by a tyrant named Dan, a future where his only son Danny Phantom defied the said future so that Bart could go back and change the future.
Constantine explained that they have to be careful, with Dan being the king of the Infinite Realms, they have to tread carefully, or else it may be seen as a declaration of war. If Trigon only conquers different realities then Dan has the power to destroy the universe and realities as they know it. He can make Trigon and Darkseid out of the business.
…
PS: If someone out there wants to continue or make a fic about this you are free to do so, don’t forget to tag me though.
PPS: I am now confused about which prompt I should post due to my idiotic self mixing up the date so we’ll go back to the former schedule.

There is No Closure, Just Adapting To Life
Ao3 link: Here Master list: Here
Summary:
Danny should have asked more questions before accepting the request to fix a different dimension's time stream from Clockwork. He didn’t think he would be de-aged and live a different life where he would latch on to a new family and friends. It was nice being a part of a community of heroes.
It really wouldn’t have been that bad if he stayed there. Too bad that he was pulled from that world and back into his old one, both fulfilling his wish to see his original family and killing all the relationships with his new ones.
Now he has to figure out how to live in his original dimension again. And maybe, just maybe find a way to visit the one he forcefully left behind.
Chapter 1: Your trial period is over; your account has been put on hold.
Danny shouldn't be thinking about the past life he lived, shouldn't think about the parents who adopted him only to disappear for months at a time, nor the vigilante family he’d inserted himself into during their time of need. That life wasn't his to begin with! Just a dimension with a timeline that needed fixing in an unconventional way.
So, why is he crying?
He just got back to his home, time hadn’t passed here. He can see Sam, Tucker, and Jazz again! (He'll never see Cass, Jason, Dick, Damien, Steph, Kon –) He's more experienced and better at fighting now. He can protect Amity better! (He misses Gotham. The city seemed to make heroes feel like magic) Danny has his original life back… but damn it, he wants to go back! He doesn't want to protect a city alone again!
Danny curls into himself on his bed. Silent sobs racking his body. He's so different than he was before. His hair was longer and parted in the middle, nothing like his usual, (old), fringe style. His missing scars and the new ones he can't explain. Gods- (No, wait, it's Ancients) he is missing his spleen! How was he going to explain that, or any of this? Even as his sobs grew more violent, their volume didn't increase.
A trick he learned in the Wayne manor.
He didn't want to disturb anyone with his half remembered dreams of a different life.
Danny took a shuddering breath, the feelings he’d been trying to bury since his return hitting him full force. He’d been sucked back to his original dimension without warning a day ago. Clockwork, that bastard, didn't even give him time to say goodbye to the rest of the Bats and Birds. He was in his apartment as Tim Drake one second and plopped in Danny Fenton's bedroom the next.
His talk with the older ghost didn't make the situation any better.
He didn't explain anything! Just that his work in that dimension's timeline was done. If Clockwork hadn't time locked the portal Danny would've been in the ancient’s lair instead of dissociating in a room that doesn't feel like his anymore. He hates not being given a choice or having a plan.
Jason was right; anger was so much easier than actually dealing with your feelings.
His spiraling was stopped when he heard a soft knock on his door. Oh, he’d forgotten that Jazz was home. Living through a lifetime made him forget a lot about his first one. He didn't get time to follow the new spiral of thoughts before his sister opened the door.
"Danny?" Her voice was soft, laced with worry.
"Yeah," He hates how hoarse his voice sounds.
He should be better than this; he’s infiltrated the league of assassins for Ancients’ sake. He watched as she approached his bed, buried beneath blankets. He can hear when she actually sees him by her gasp.
"What happened?" Jazz asked as she sat on the bed facing him.
"I… I fixed a timeline in a different dimension for Clockwork." Danny can't bring himself to look at her. Everything is still fresh. The feeling he can just barely comprehend as grief has yet to settle inside him. He takes a deep breath. He can compartmentalize this and deal with it after Jazz leaves.
"How long were you gone this time, a month or two?" Jazz looks at him with unending patience and care.
"17 years," He whispers hesitantly.
"Oh… oh, Danny." He couldn’t have prepared himself for the shock and pained confusion on her face. She leaned her over him, pulling him into a tight hug.
Oh, he can't compartmentalize this after all. Danny’s breath hitched as fat tears began rolling down his face, dampening his pillow even more. His life as Tim made him forget what it was like to have unending support from a sibling. He loved the hodge podge of the Waynes, but he was a vigilante first. He wasn’t really family.
Just a coworker.
“You don’t have to talk about it if it’s too much. Just know that I’ll always be here for you little brother,” Jazz’s voice was gentle. Oh, did he miss her during those years. Cass and Barbara helped him cope with missing Jazz whether they knew it or not. He turned into her, relishing in the fact she was here. He may be missing a whole new family, but he got his old one back.
“I missed you, Jazz. Can you stay here with me for a little while?” He pleaded between silent sobs.
“Of course. I’ll be here as long as you need.”
---------—x—---------
Tim woke up to the sound of typing and the sight of red hair. He must have crashed at Barbara’s last night. He sits up, not fully awake just yet.
“Morning, Babs,” he yawns, eyes blurry.
The gentle but persistent clicking of keys stops with a hitch of her breath. "Danny, it's me Jazz. Is Babs someone you were close to… before?"
The voice he hears back isn't Barbara's.
It's one he barely recognizes now, made even harder to place with the barely covered pain. Jazz deserves a better brother than him.
What kind of brother is he, that he doesn't even remember his own sister at first glance.
Danny takes a deep shaky breath. No, he can't think like that. He hasn't seen her in 17 years, Of course he isn't going to recognize her. Still she hasn't changed one bit.
He can't tell if that makes it better or worse.
"Yeah" he croaks, voice rough from sleep and the lump that's formed in his throat. “She has hair like yours.”
“Oh… do you want to talk about it?” she offers awkwardly. She was completely out of her depth but still wanting to help in her own way. (Alfred would have loved to meet her.)
Danny shakes his head, pushing past the aching in his chest as he drags himself out of bed. He doesn't look back at Jazz, he doesn't want to see the pitying look in her eyes. Something ugly, angry, and raw always tends to creep into him when that particular emotion is directed at him, and she doesn't deserve that.
What a cruel joke that the one thing that he gets in spades in both lives is pity.
He needs a strategy if he plans to survive the next couple of days, (the rest of his life), and that starts small. Get ready and investigate what the hell was happening in his life before… his time mission. He lost so much time with his breakdown, how annoying.
Tim (no, he's Danny now) huffs, opening his closet. Well before he starts anything he needs a damn shower.
---------—x—---------
By the time Danny was clean and dressed, Jazz had left him with a journal with his name on it and her scrapbook. Ancients, she really is the best big sister. (Cass would contest that).
He knows that he should dive into them right away, but… he can put it off a little longer. Remembering and relearning will take time, and he has all the time in the world now, whether he likes it or not. Diving deep will be too much. He’s too emotionally raw, and just needs something to latch on to, like:
Next day survival plan 101, start small.
He can look at Danny’s phone; he’ll figure out what to do with Tim’s later. Remember, one step at a time; one thing at a time. Finding the device was easy, it was on the nightstand where he always leaves it. Seems like this is one of the habits he kept in both lifes. Opening it up was easier than he originally expected; he really didn't have a sense of cybersecurity beyond Tucker back then.
(…Now?)
The device was familiar in so many different ways; he always did gravitate towards technology (with Tucker pushing him forward right next to him). The screen lit up, showing the basic layout of all phones; he dismissed notifications from dumb games, leaving the social media ones. What he was really looking for was his messages.
He had a couple new messages from Sam and Tucker in their group chat. He should look at the chat, but, in doing so, he'd be facing the people he had been grieving their missing presence for the last 17 years. A missing presence that had him picked up so many new hobbies, just because they reminded him of his two best friends. Danny would have never touched a camera if it wasn't for the ache in his chest everytime he passed a looming gargoyle. The hundreds of pictures will finally be seen by their intended audience, if he could only get himself to open the gods damned chat!
Shaky breath slips from his lips as he steadies his thoughts. Baby steps. Look at the messages and go from there.
— New Messages —

how come you aren't calling HIM!!!!!
PettyWitch
Bc Danny can actually get up before noon during the weekends unlike other people in this chat! So he can be trusted to get to Nasty Burger on time.
TFine
HEY!
Their banter goes on. Danny scrolls through it with a painful kind of fondness draping over him. A hole that once gouged his heart was being filled, only to have a different part get ripped out for the same reason. The people he missed will always have some type of mouth on them, especially one that gets them in trouble. Moving past the too fresh grief and focusing on the conversation at hand does bring about a pressing issue, he's supposed to meet up with Sam and Tucker soon.
Shit.
Looks like he's facing more ghosts of his past-turned-present sooner than he thought. It's Tucker and Sam. They stuck with him through his death and his first hero career. If anyone besides Jazz could sympathize with him, it was them. Resolve hardened like the Bat he is (was —there is no way back to them now), he spends the little remaining time flipping through pictures and looping handwriting as he pieces the memory of his old life back together.

Reborn as Dan Phantom.
A fan of the show is reborn as Dan, the evil version of Danny just as he was created— but what no one knew was a fangirl had taken over the body and knew just what to do to help her family that would suffer what she just went through unless she did something to help. So— she creeped towards Clockwork, stole the time medallion, went to the timeline of the original, and immediately took over as big brother figure to help these poor children from suffering the future they would have to endure alone without adult supervision.
She— now he— didn’t care for gender, and just wanted to help and protect his new(ish) family from bad people. What he didn’t know was he was also thrown alongside the dc universe, which was an awesome discovery on his part later on.
Dan— or Dante— as he wished to be called, came to the group with sorrow in his heart as he explained what would happen in the future if Danny cheated on his test, not that it was anyone’s fault but fates. He explained how no one was at fault and it could all be avoided if he could help it.
He took over the ghost fights, and had a long talk with Clockwork about what would happen and his real purpose for being there.
His original timeline was obviously erased, and the only reason he survived was because of the medallion, so later he had to go through ghost magic and make himself his own person, gained a whole butt load of tattoos intertwined with ghost time magic and becomes the next king of the infinite realms after defeating the old guy easily after seeing him beat up his little bro.
Dante became king instead of Danny and took over all the overloaded paperwork along the way.
What he didn’t know, was that he would be summoned because of his status. He really thought the fan fictions were just exaggerating what would happen if he was ever given the position and power. Well, it was all true from what he read.
(I’m making this a Dante/King Phantom x Jason Todd/Red Hood).
He made an actual legal identity for himself with the help of Technus and Tucker, who became better pals after they set aside the fact that they attacked each other at some point or another.
Danny became a little brother to him, Jazz became his little sister who likes to treat him as if he were still Danny at times, and Danielle became his daughter.
Dante legally adopted Dani after they got his papers in order, and made her an identity as well. Elle was much younger than he remembered, but then again, she was deaged recently and just came back into contact with the group, who couldn’t take care of her because they were still children as well.
Vlad was still a little evil but leveled out after a huge diabolical involving Maddie, their so called mother.
Madeline Fenton had thought her son and daughter conspired with the ghosts and attacked them in their own home, Danny was greatly injured with multiple blast wounds and Jazz suffered a concussion while trying to push him out of the target zones.
Jack had football tackled Madeline and the rest was history.
Vlad had fallen out of love with her after seeing what she did to her own children, and instead got his head out of his butt and realized he was in love with Jack all along.
Jack divorced Madeline, took custody of his kids and decided they should move, all while Vlad made plans to take down GIW with Team Phantom.
Jack and Vlad met him and decided to emotionally adopt Dante as well in their messed up family.
Dante got a job as a mechanic and started his own business in Gotham. Very cliche from all the fanfics he read in his past life but he wanted to do something he knew and loved. He loved fixing things and his side job as the king of the infinite realms was basically being like a father to ghost children while scolding those who thought it was a good idea to attack innocent mortals.
He mainly spent his time raising Danielle. Giving her everything she deserves and making her happy now that his family was safe.
He was randomly summoned by the Justice League who were ready to full on attack him until they saw him reading to his child, not realizing he was summoned until someone cleared their throat. He was literally in his own little bubble, reading his two year old daughter a storybook while holding her against his chest as he floated above the ground, laid back in a relaxed position.
How it would go:
I looked up from the book after feeling a sudden shift in my surroundings, seeing multiple very brightly dressed people in front of me. I glared, shifting completely into my ghost king form while holding my daughter close to my chest. The storybook I was reading had disappeared into a pocket dimension for later, as I had to deal with this madness.
“Who in their right minds would summon the Ghost King? I literally burnt all those summoning books to ash.” I grumbled, and looked down to see Elle had slightly woken up at the sound of my deep voice.
“Dada?” She mumbled, rubbing her right eye as she sat up from my chest.
“It’s alright, Elle,” I rumbled, kissing her forehead as she plopped back down to take her nap again at my reassurance. “We can finish reading time later today.” I murmured to her as she went back to snoozing.
“What do you want, mortals?” I asked nonchalantly.
“Why does the ghost king have a child? And how in the hell are you not attacking us as the books state?” Zatanna asked, looking on at me in shock.
“You willingly want to be attacked after summoning me? That’s idiotic. “ I state, looking bored with their conversation. I still held Elle close, not answering their questions about my child just yet.
“No, a bloody idiot summoned you just as we defeated him as a last defense!” Constantine spat out, looking hysterical.
“Well, sorry to break the news, coward, but the last king was defeated by me after trying to take over the world, he is now locked away in forever sleep until we can find a way to get rid of him completely.” I explained to the coward looking at me in shock on the ground, bruises across his face and the usual weird looking villain costume on him.
I looked around for a quick second before stopping at the Batfam. Who were all here in a more relaxed formation seeing a child in my arms. My favorite fandom family in my last life.
I looked them over before spotting the Red Hood, my celebrity crush I had on him was no secret to my family, but they had no room to judge for themselves.
His aura admitted contaminated ectoplasm, and I knew I had to heal him sometime in the future.
“May I ask what your goals are? And who is this child?” Superman spoke up after a moment of digesting my information about my new position.
“I protect both living and the undead. I don’t have a world ending goal in mind, just to raise my daughter and give her the life she deserves.” I said, looking down at my daughter with a small smile that would be unnoticeable to most.
I looked back up to see the large group had softened at my words and I was about to ask a question about Red Hood, when my daughter suddenly decided this was taking too long and too much noise for her to take a nap.
“Dada! Where puppy?” She demanded answers, smacking the side of my face with her chubby hands, as I floated there, unmoving with an emotionless face towards the group.
“Cujo is with the twerp, remember? He will come by later for playtime.” I answered, which was slightly muffled as she squished my cheeks together and smiled at me happily.
“Dada! Fishh—“ she squealed out, looking happy with herself as she giggled at my face.
“You gremlin—“ I muttered out, tickling her sides as she squeaked, her flying out of my arms and turning into her young ghost form, looking ready to play.
“Playtime?” She asked, bouncing a little in the air, clapping her hands a little.
“Not yet, blob ghost. We need to head back home for snack time.” I explained, crossing my arms as she pouted, my arm muscles bulged a bit as I crossed them, and I still always forget the fact that I’m taller than most, alongside bigger. In my past life, I was a stick of a girl that had spaghetti arms, much different for sure.
Her pouting turned into the famous puppy eyes, and I turned back to the group to avoid them, only to see amused faces all around.
“Do you guys need anything before we head back? I’m sure you don’t want to deal with a Princess tantrum.” I rumbled out, looking on in disinterest as Elle decided to hug the side of my face like an octopus. She probably still had the puppy eyes on.
“You have an adorable daughter!” Princess Diana exclaimed soon after I was finished speaking. “How old is she?” She asked, looking at me curiously as I lowered myself to the ground, Elle now floating behind my head as she played with my low ponytail.
“She is now two years old.” I answered, swiftly nabbing Elle from behind me while reaching the back of my head. I lowered my arms to see I had her upside down now, her hanging like a sack of potatoes as she giggled.
“Dada!” Elle exclaimed, waving her arms around her in glee as she looked up at me.
“You don’t feel like a ghost completely… neither does she, what are you exactly?” Constantine asked, waving his hand at me in confusion.
“I don’t know if I can trust you with that information, Constantine.” I growled a little, glaring at him as he stepped forward while Elle hid behind me.
“Hey now! Let’s calm down, no one needs to start anything!” Nightwing stepped in front of the glaring Constantine who looked more and more like a bug the longer I looked at him.
“There isn’t anything to start, really. His soul is in shreds at the moment, not very powerful compared to my kind anyway.” I stated, crossing my arms once again as Elle peaked out from over my shoulder.
“Now, I need to speak with a Mr. Red Hood.” I said, looking on at the Batfam who tensed at my words.
“Why?” Batman growled out, stepping in front of the confused Red Hood.
“To heal him, of course.” I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose as I heard sounds of confusion from everyone else.
“His ectoplasm is very corrupted. He has the ghost flu, in which case makes my kind very moody and in need of pure ectoplasm to filter it and his emotions.” I briefly explained, unpinching my nose as I looked up from the ground. Willing my headache away for now.
“So his pit madness is basically the ghost flu?” Red Robin murmurs out hysterically, almost giggling in disbelief.
“Yes, I have heard of his haunt, Crime Alley, that being under his protection, I have never stepped foot on his property because I didn’t want to seem like a threat to a sick person who can’t control themselves completely with such a sickness.” I explained myself a bit nervously, rubbing the back of my neck a little with my right hand as Elle now sat on my left shoulder, swinging her legs.
“Wow, the ghost king is a dork…” I heard Spoiler mutter to Orphan, who nodded in agreement.
I huffed, crossing my arms and floated once again. “I can come back another time. I just wished to help a little. My doctor can probably fix him quicker than I, but I know what to do as I have studied under him for more than over a year now.” I informed them.
“So the pit madness can go away…?” Red Hood asked, stepping from around Batman to speak to me clearly.
“I’m unsure of what this “Pit Madness” is, but yes, I can heal you and make sure you properly get the help you need from your emotional roller coaster sickness.” I said, looking down at him as he took a few more steps to me, his family following behind him.
“Well, when can you fix me?” He asked, his voice modifier cutting all emotions from his voice, but I can clearly feel his emotions bursting from his almost formed core. It seems this sickness had stopped him from forming his core completely and left him sick for many years.
I could feel his hope, his rage and especially his bursts of want for some reason.
“I can fix you right now, but I wasn’t sure if you wanted privacy or not. It’s very…. Intimate. I can take you somewhere private if you would like?” I rumbled out, the burst of want came out more clearly, and I could tell Red Hood was clearly not expecting that word choice.
“Take me anytime—“ I could clearly hear his muttered out answer behind his helmet with my enhanced hearing, but I don’t know if I was supposed to hear that.
“Nope! Little Wing— you are not going with the ghost king—“ Nightwing suddenly yelled out, the whites of his mask bigger as Spoiler, Red Robin, and Signal burst into loud laughter. Batman sighed loudly in disappointment. Robin just “Tt” and sighed alongside his father, looking like a mini bat. Orphan just smiled at me.
“By intimate, I mean having a look at your soul, I will essentially have to take a closer look at that and cure you.” I fixed my words, making it seem as if I didn’t hear anything and I could feel a little disappointment coming from Red Hood but he nodded at my explanation.

Danny liked it to spent time with Clockwork, and most fun are the missions he is send by the Old Ghost. Few are dangerous but most are pretty fun. He liked to see the other timelines and similiar helping the people and their lifes. Not knowing that he made a huge impact in that life and the hurt when he left.
As he was in this new Dimension the first thing he noticed was he was in his core. The one that finds him was Wonder Woman with the Justice League, they thought it was a Weapon that had fallen out of the Portal. Kind of like a Weaker Mother Box. They took him with them to the Watchtower. It took him not long to get outside the core like a chicken. While a meeting of the Heroes what to do with him.
They chose to let him stay in the tower and had stopped Batman from taking him just with him. Even after his dibs.
Once reborn of his Core, he aged himself up quickly into a child. Danny without a question was the biggest fan of Martian Manhunter. It was for him. Coolest uncle J'onn best Alien, Uncle Kal boring Alien, Cool Aunt Shayera, Granny Diana (she is SUPER OLD!), Batdibs, Funny Uncle Flash and Cool Uncle Lantern. Kal was not happy he was boring alien uncle for his human looks, but he got him over with applecakes. J'onn liked to talk about Mars, Danny loved to listen to it. Batman was the reason his first word was Dibs, but he was a good caretaker Hal Jorden was turned cool uncle as he learned he worked in the Airforce Flash was just funny and brought fast laughs for him Shayera was still cool Aunt, for she was a Alien Soldier even if she talked much about the evil race Gordanians. Maybe he will send a attack against them later. Diana had worked hard to get him to stop calling her Granny. She gave up after a time and gave Flash the Fault, she would have gotten mom but he just had to say she would be more a Granny then mother with her AGE! Yes Flash wasn't in Watch Tower for few weeks after that. And her mother Hippolyta was not happy that the Amazons are now Super Grannies as she visited Lord Hades because of his underworld nature.
After few months Danny noticed that a Portal had open up near him almost 1 feet, he was aged up to his original age and Clockworks hand pulled him out of the dimension as if he was never there in the first place only with the memories and the videos to see what happened.
The Justice League wants their boy back. Clockworks plan worked and they are now much deeper team like a whole family. They would do anything to bring him back to them.

DP x DC
what if Danny was supposed to be Robin or part of the bat family but was nerfed by clockwork accidentally killing him and fucking up the time line.
Maybe if people come in contact with someone broken away from fate they’ll also become distanced with the original timeline so clockwork had to contain Danny in amity to avoid causing a bigger mess and not anger the fates any more than they were.
So basically what if clockwork set the ghosts after Danny? As like a distraction as he tried to stable the new event with the others and weave out previous events that would’ve taken place with the planned ones. Afterlife can be boring so he took the most rambunctious ghosts he could find and hired them to cause trouble. Like why would ghosts like ember and shulker specifically choose to go here? There infinite places to go throughout the realms like millions of different Dimensions some of which at least have a way to interact with. Each with tons of things they could use to fulfill their obsessions. So why would they choose to go to some random town in Illinois if not for clockwork bribing them with a cool ‘animal’ or tons of ‘pop fans looking for a new idol’
So what if Danny finds out about clockwork sending the ghosts and gets mad at him cause he knowingly allowed these powerful beings to torment him and maybe cause a large accident or what ever like killing some people or somthn. Maybe his family. Anywho he runs on his own cause angst and revenge, wanting to piss the time god off. A time god who was not done fixing the time line and had got some very pissed fate sisters on his tail. So maybe Danny runs into hero’s or the Batfamily and has this wierd feeling around them. Like a deja vu or a ‘I have very faint, wierd memories of you’ type thing. So they kinda click fast (or hate each other, perhaps there was some planned drama that didn’t happen) and become friends. They can kinda tell something is up with each other I.e superheroing/vigalintie-ing. So hero’s wanna help this weird kid they think is a meta hero and Danny wants to learn more about someone who could be a well known hero. But suddenly clockwork comes in or maybe a sent lackey and kidnapped Danny cause he’s now causing major timeline problems. Hero’s or Batfamily notice that the probably meta hero kid is missing and think something bad happened and get worried so they dig deeper. Meanwhile clockworks trying to deal with containing the teenage rage and angst of a kidnapped child while that fates give him pissed looks as he tries to fix the timeline again. Also p.s. the deja vu feelings are leftover memories of the future events clockwork has fixed yet if you didn’t get it

I literally do not know how to use Tumblr in a way that matters, but I am here to scream into the void and beg for someone to take interest in this stupid fucking dp x p5R crossover please
Danny phantom x persona 5 Royal
Danny would be the death confidante for Akechi, since Akechi would have his own set obviously, he actually doesn't have all the major Arcana tho, only
the tower:Shido
Death: Danny
Judgment: sai
The fool: joker
The hermit : futaba ?(much later)
Akechi himself is the justice card still even from his own perspective.
Danny would be the ace of hearts for joker
Futaba being Goro's half-sister is canon here because I said so.
Also, Danny is 16, akechi is 18 here, because,,,,little brother vibes
Akechi enrolls Danny into jokers school, he meets Sumire and they hang out a bit, which is how he meets joker and through joker, Futaba omg Danny Futaba and Sumi cause the most chaos as a trio, perfect
Akechi, Yusuke, and Hifumi all go to the same school, but because akechi is a 3rd year they don't interact pretty much at all.
Danny upon meeting joker for the first time: you should date my dad actually
As a timeline note, Danny shows up when the actual pt are working on Makoto's palace so that I can have my space station time, but also because,,,,hehe plot.
Danny and akechi making each other realize they were victims of extreme abuse
Akechi much later allowing Danny to absolutely fuck his reputation to fuck with Shido, but also because they're teaching each other how to just be kids. God mutual healing for them pls
Danny upon telling akechi he's king of the infinite realms like: so even if you die, you're still stuck with me
A Kechi not knowing why or how this American teenager is speaking fluent Japanese to him
Danny who doesn't know he's speaking Japanese, or even that he's in Japan for like the first MONTH he's there
Ohya is the one that gets the shot of a Kechi and Danny in shibuya, them trying to sell Danny as akechis "son" is so so funny to me because he's literally only 2 years younger than him, so it's not possible, but they sure did run the article
This is not a Danny gets yeeted to a new universe au the metaverse is just a smaller dimension that exists right between the infinite realms and earth, so in a way ghosts are just shadows after death, shadows form from the self within the self, and if they progress for long enough, once that person dies, their shadow becomes a ghost, it's why even though not all ghosts are evil, there's a lot of them that are
Tucker and Futaba would either be absolute best friends who already knew each other through the hacking community or worst enemies and I can't decide what's better
Futaba is the one to tell tucker and sam that Danny is alive and ok, because Danny is stupid and doesn’t think to tell them
Danny and Akechi paint each other's nails as a form of bonding
Ghost king Danny, ghost speak, blacklight ectoplasm, I just think they're neat
A half written first chapter for this stg I am not writing more someone else do it please
Danny ends up yeeted into Japan after the last episode of his original series, except it didn't go as well as canon, his parents had only faked their acceptance, in all truth once they'd gotten home, he'd been subjected to months of experimenting, jazz had left for college soon after and didn't know anything and Danny, poor Danny, was letting this all happen to himself because he had convinced himself it was out of love, for the greater good. Eventually, he was broken out of this cycle by his friends who'd spent this whole time trying to free him, and once they did they beelined it for the ghost portal, to get as far away as they could, they took Danny to clockwork as they assumed he'd know best what to do next, and he did. He sent Danny to akechi and his friends back to their homes.
Danny, now with extreme PTSD and lots of new scars to go with it, is completely out of it when he first bumps into akechi. He just kinda ends up in the middle of Akechi's living room, staring at his hands and silently crying, and akechi, who just got home from school and watched this child fall out out a portal onto his carpet, considers calling the police for a second before realizing if he filed a report like that it would absolutely fuck his image, headlines like "detective prince akechi finally snapped?" "Child star gone crazy!" "Young detective claims child 'fell out of portal' more on this at 9" and ultimately decides that he will deal with this problem himself. Armed with his (fake because it's for the metaverse and legally he can't own one) gun akechi slowly approaches him and nudges the back of his head, and suddenly his problem disappears, quite literally, into thin air.
Danny, who absolutely panicked at being broken out of his meltdown by the feeling of cold metal against the back of his head (hmmmm how many things could this remind him of, so so many) had gone invisible and fuckin booked it to the closest corner, his mind not clear enough to get him any further, and his energy not high enough to sustain the invisibility. He was curled in a ball arms crossed out in front of him in an attempt to shield himself.
Akechi snaps to attention as suddenly the child is back but in a completely different location, seemingly much more afraid than before. Akechi thinks about it for a moment before lowering his gun and kneeling onto one knee from where he stood, raising his hands in a sign of surrender, to try and show he no longer means harm.
"Hey, it's ok, can I get you some water?"
Clearly being on the offensive wasn't going to make progress and now akechi was much more interested in this boy than he had been.
He runs through a list of things he was taught to do to deescalate a situation. Try basic questions, offer reassurance, space, and make sure not to move too quickly or unpredictably, that last one will be a little hard since his guest is in an unknown place so no matter what he does it'll be unpredictable.
Danny lowered his hands which had started shaking, waiting for the hurt, the next step, something, after hearing the older boy in front of him speak, he said something about water? Danny thought for a moment, this is all a trap, or not real, or both, or maybe hey, just maybe he finally actually died. In which case, the actions he was now taking meant nothing anyways. He opened his mouth to speak but only a hoarse impression of an attempt at speech came out, so instead, he nodded. He was so entirely unsure of his situation, and the tears wouldn't stop, god he just wanted to help, he did everything they asked, so why did it never sto- Danny closed his eyes painfully tight and repeated the word no to himself mentally in an attempt to stop his thoughts from going where they were.
Akechi winced at the sound of the boy's voice, could it even be called that, but took note of the small nod and stood to go retrieve water. Once he had the drink in hand he stood about 5 feet away from the boy and spoke again.
"Can I come over and hand this to you?" He needs to make sure not to send him further into whatever sort of attack he was having, so being overly careful about all his actions was the least he could do.
Danny he was just barely starting to regain his ability to actually breathe, shook his head no rapidly, but had no idea how to communicate his wants without his voice.
"I'll just set it on the floor right here then and go back to where I was"
Was this man an angel? How did he know what Danny wanted, when he hadn't spoken a word? Danny gave an agreeing shake to his head this time and waited for the man to go back and sit down before essentially crawling over to the cup. He relished in the feeling of the water running down his throat, of the concept of kindness being shown to him, for the first time in months.
Akechi waited for the boy to calm fully and seem more at ease before saying he was going to get bedding for him, he'd set him up on the couch, and get him some food (not that akechi had much to offer, but he was sure he could find something) and letting him rest for the night.
What a strange fucked up situation this was, akechi wasn't sure how to feel about any of it, but he did have a growing sense of pity for the boy. He'd clearly been through something, and the whole falling out of thin air onto his floor definitely didn't help. Goro didn't exactly want to subject this child to the things he himself had been through when Shido was experimenting with his abilities, so he'd keep him confined to his house for now while he sorted it all out. On the other hand, akechi doesn't trust this unknown at all, so he'd call in sick to school in the morning, and take a few days off, his grades shouldn't suffer too much given his aptitude for memorization, but it wouldn't exactly be pleasant either.
Speaking of unpleasant things, akechi checks his phone for the time, and looks at the news before sighing and softly telling the boy he was going to sleep, and pointing out where his room and the bathroom were in case either was needed. Goro also knew in the back of his mind somewhere that telling this stranger who had literally disappeared and reappeared right in front of his eyes earlier, where he slept wasn't exactly the brightest idea, but he also knew he wouldn't be sleeping tonight, too busy researching and trying to figure anything he could out. He'd even need to be careful of what he looked into though, considering the kind of mistrust and surveillance Shido had of him, wouldn't want to tip him off now would we?
Danny took the bedding given to him and hulled himself up in a corner ready to stay awake the rest of the night on high alert, or he would have if it wasn't suddenly a completely different time of day, Danny swears he only blinked but in that moment his body must have shut down, after such a long period of abuse and lost sleep, it must have deemed this a safe enough environment to sleep. What had woken him up though was the sound of something falling, he assumes it came from the kitchen nearby, but he hadn't been conscious enough on the outside to process anything else that happened, in fact, he'd almost immediately started panicking again.
Goro poked his head into the living room to see the boy wide awake and staring into nothing with a sense of panic. He wanted to apologize, but he felt speaking and startling the kid out of that state would only make it worse. He couldn't remember now, the pounding sound had rattled his brain too much.

Not *Technically* a Clone:
Ophelia was just about a year old when a Portal opened in the Manor and Danny walked out with a baby in his arms.
“Bruce!” Danny called, bouncing the baby he carried when it began to fuss.
The entire Wayne clan came running, Bruce in the lead.
“Here, for you,” Danny thrust the baby towards Bruce, who took them automatically, “congratulations, he’s a boy!”
“What?” numerous voices echoed.
Danny raked a hand through his hair roughly, “Collapsing timeline, an offshoot from this one. He’s the only survivor. Think of him as a refugee. Anyway, he’s a…his presumptive father had an experiment done on him by someone called Amanda Waller…?”
“That bitch!” Jason hissed, holding Bette close.
“Well, the one there somehow knew Batman’s identity and decided to overwrite some schmuck’s DNA with Bruce’s so that when had kids…”
“The baby was Bruce’s…” Dick gasped. “but why?”
“To breed the next Batman…this Waller lady, she was ruthless. She was gonna recreate the Wayne Murders to push Terry, that’s his name by the way, into being the next Batman when Bruce was too old. Woulda nearly worked too, Clockwork says,” Danny explained tiredly, “he would have crossed paths with Old-Man Bruce and then steal a prototype Batsuit; Bruce would’ve liked his moxie so—”
“Jesus Christ,” Jason swore, “it’s like all our origin stories mixed in a blender!”
Bruce was staring down at Terry, “What’s his last name?”
“McGinnis…Clockwork checked, his parents exist here but they’re just kids. We looked, Bruce. You’re the only Bruce Wayne, in all the possible timelines and dimensions offshooting from this one, that can take him. Every other Bruce was either badly placed, mentally unstable, physically unstable, financially unstable, or otherwise unsuitable for a baby.”
Bruce looked to Selina who gave a slow nod, “We’ll take him.”
Danny deflated in relief, “Oh, thank the Ancients.”
And so a backstory was hammered out that afternoon and drilled into the youngest’s heads.
Terry Wayne was a product of a one-night-stand by Bruce during one of the times he and Selina were off again. His mother had wanted the best for him and so willingly surrendered him to his wealthy father. A DNA proved her story and Bruce had welcomed his now youngest with open arms.
The next time he visited, the paparazzi would question Damian on the fact that he was no longer the only biological son.
The boy scoffed, reminding them that for all their biological ties, Bruce was in fact merely his uncle for all he called his siblings his siblings. He would go on to say that Terry’s origins and status as a biological Wayne did not bother him.
Bruce would sue the tabloids for daring to question the still minor boy. Reminding everyone of the power the Wayne name carried.
Wished Away 9
Tylers meet Phantoms:
“Christ, Mum,” Rose said as she took in how Jackie, Pete, and Tony were dressed, “we’re just meetin’—”
“Royalty!” Jackie squeaked. They were all done up like they were meeting the Queen at Buckingham Palace itself!
“Honestly, Mum, they don’t care,” Rose rolled her eyes, grabbing her mother’s wrist and tugging her through the console room and to the wardrobe room, “I told ya ta dress casually. Let’s just hope the Ol’ Girl has clothes fer ya.”
It took about an hour to get everyone redressed, in things much more casual but still nice, before Rose led them back to the console room.
Jackie was clearly anxious, “Are ya—”
“’m sure, Mum. Danny an’ Sam don’t do formal unless they have ta. Unless you’re an annoying subject or someone threatenin’ war, ya don’t even have ta call ‘em by their titles. They’re just Danny an’ Sam ta family.”
“Lookie what I found,” Jenny bounded from the innards of the TARDIS, holding a tiny bike helmet.
She went to her toddler uncle and put it on him, making sure it fit right, “Landings in the Realms are worse than normal ones. The TARDIS does Her best but the Realms give her…nausea? A headache? She just doesn’t do good.”
“Oh, goody,” Jackie said lowly, hugging a strut for dear life already.
“Let me protect Anthony,” Bad Wolf came out, holding out her arms; without hesitation, Pete handed his son over.
Bad Wolf settled Tony in her arms, against her chest and shoulder, and then spread her feet and crouched slightly, clearly bracing for impact; she stayed steady even as the TARDIS began Her flight.
Everyone else was thrown about the console room, the Doctor and Jenny barely holding on to work the console, but Bad Wolf and Tony did not move an inch.
The landing was rough, just as Jenny said it would be, throwing even the Time Lords to the grated floor before the TARDIS stopped quaking.
Jenny recovered first and stood up, rubbing her shoulder, to peek out the doors, “We’re in the Palace. Uncle Danny and Aunt Sam are waiting…”
Slowly, everyone picked themselves up and Rose reemerged, straightening with some popping from her knees.
Jenny led the procession out, racing to hug a man and a woman, “Uncle Danny, Aunt Sam! How’re you?”
Danny and Sam chuckled and hugged her as one, “Good, doing good. You?”
“Perfect!”
She let go of them to drag Jackie, who was hesitant, forward, “This’s my Gran, Jackie. Mum’s side, duh. Completely human. He’s my step-granddad, Pete, and Mum’s holding my uncle, Tony.”
“Yer Majesties,” Jackie tried to curtsy even though she was in trousers, “an honor ta—”
“Oh, enough,” Sam chuckled, “didn’t they tell you? We don’t do formalities with family.”
“Family?” Jackie’s eyes were wide, “I know Rose said—but—”
“We count Clockwork as family,” Danny explained, “and he’s claimed the Doctor as family. The Doctor and Jenny. Rose’s basically married in by this point. Common-law, you understand. That makes her family our family. Welcome to the Palace, your home in the Infinite Realms.”
“My god,” Pete muttered, somewhat disbelieving.
“Not a god, not yet anyways,” Danny winked.
“Where’s Dani?” Jenny burst out, “Is she still in school?”
Sam grinned, “With Anakin, in the nursery. We let her stay home today.”
“Oh, Gran! Can I introduce Tony to Anakin? Please!” Jenny nearly begged.
“Anakin’s our youngest,” Danny explained kindly, “around Tony’s age, actually. We also have a nanny looking after them, Nanny Clara. He’d be perfectly safe.”
“Well…” Jackie looked to her husband, who nodded, “if you’re sure.”
Jenny cheered and took Tony from Rose, dashing off with him deeper into the Palace.
“Jenny knows the Palace as well as anyone,” Sam assured, “and if she gets lost, she can flag down a servant for help. She’s heading directly for the nursery. It’s the most defensible part of the Palace.
Danny stood up, helping Sam, “C’mon, we can talk over food; stay close, Tylers. Doctor?”
“Rose and I can bring up the rear,” the Doctor agreed, taking Rose’s hand as they began walking.
The Palace was a gothic masterpiece, in a very literal sense, though even Sam had wearied of all the gloom and had sought artists and artwork to fill the halls, soft, plush carpets and tapestries to keep the warmth, glassworks to fill the once barred windows. Statues and busts dotted the hallways, some classical, some avant garde
Masters had given their masterpieces, their magnum opuses; they were paid handsomely of course, in either coin or material.
Oils, watercolors, acrylics, textiles, glass, all created for Her Majesty the Ghost Queen. For His Majesty the Ghost King.
It wasn’t yet a riot of color, nor would it ever be, but it was more alive.
Jackie gasped and the group stopped, turning as one to see what had captured her attention.
“When they said the family was huge…”
Ah, it was the most recent family portrait; all the children were gathered around Danny and Sam, all in formal wear.
“We…sometimes people sell the souls of children to me,” Danny started, causing her and Pete to whip around to him in horror, “I know, it’s horrible, isn’t it? But anyways, we adopt the kids. Only Dani—Danielle—isn’t adopted.”
He pointed out each child and gave their backstory.
“Good Lord, you were young!” Pete said at Damian’s story.
“Old enough to be king,” Danny shrugged helplessly, “it…it wasn’t easy, we had help, so much help, and we made mistakes…”
“All parents do,” Jackie told him softly.
“So we’ve been told,” Sam smiled just as softly, “and we’ve learned and made new ones with each kid.”
Danny coughed and continued to point out kids and tell stories, until all had been covered and then they moved on.
As they neared the dining room, Danielle and Jenny joined them with each holding a toddler.
“Oh my,” Jackie said, taking in the Anakin Skywalker; she knew who he grew up to be, or would have if he had not been adopted.
“We’re hungry, Dad,” Danielle said.
Danny waved them into the dining room where the smaller table was already set for a meal; there were two chairs with booster seats and Jenny and Danielle put Tony and Anakin in them before sitting beside them and helping them get food.
The group chatted over the meal, Jackie and Pete slowly relaxing at how easy going the Royals were, and generally had good cheer.
After the meal was done, Jenny asked, “Do we put their photo up on the family wall now? I know you’ve got me, Dad, and Mum…”
Danny chuckled, “We can, if they’re okay with it.”
“Family wall?” Pete questioned.
“We keep walls of pictures of the extended family,” Sam explained easily, “you know, like Rose, the Doctor, and Jenny. Harry’s and Neville’s parents. Damian’s paternal birth-family. The Royal Portrait is just the immediate royal family. The walls are for everyone and everything else.”
Danny and Sam led the group out of the dining room and down another hallway; the walls were plastered with photographs. Some were professional, most were candid and amateur.
A common camera sat on a small round table; a high-end camera but nothing too expensive or professional.
Danny picked it up, saying, “If Jackie, Pete, and Tony don’t mind—”
Jackie decided it would be a family photograph and dragged the Doctor in; Rose and Jenny came without complaint.
Danny took a set of pictures.
After that was done, it was decided it was time for the Tylers to leave, taking pity on the still disgruntled TARDIS.
They were, however, invited to the next family gathering.

Order and Chaos
Ectober Haunt 2022, Order and Chaos, ao3
“Wait, ok, I need you to explain a few things to me again, slowly, alright?”
“Of course, Danny. Take all the time you need.”
Danny snorted at the pun and crossed his arms, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes to order his thoughts. When he breathed out, he stared at Clockwork, ignoring the observants for now.
“You’re telling me that when I beat Pariah Dark and destroyed his ring, it jettisoned Amity Park into another timeline and made me the new king?”
“That is correct. The Infinite Realm both does and does not exist at every feasible and non-feasible point in time, space, and thought. Meaning no matter where or when you are in the Ghost Zone you are everywhere and when because it all exists at once, while not existing. What this means for you, Danny, is that when the same thing is pulled into the Infinite Realm from multiple points in the omniverse, it might get shuffled around with other variants.”
“So there’s a whole bunch of alternate timelines and the ghost zone is a hat that multiple Amity Parks got tossed into and the wrong timelines pulled them back?”
“Exactly.”
Clockwork presented Danny with a cookie and he narrowed his eyes at the toddler that was the Master of Time. He took the cookie and tried a bite, eyes widening when the flavor hit him.
“This is delicious!”
“Thank you. Your Amity Park is now on a different Earth, within a whole different multiverse, this one referred to by those outside of it as DC, though I won’t tell you why.”
“Wait, wait, hold the fuck up! Clockwork, am I in comic book land? Do I now share a planet with Gotham and Central City and Middletown?”
“Would another cookie help?”
Danny nodded and scarfed down a whole plate of cookies, trying to wrap his head around the cosmic intersection between his world and a network of fictional works. He decided not to dwell on the metaphysical implications and turned back to his own corner of nonsense.
“So, this whole king business… is that a good idea? I feel like after that whole evil future me thing I don’t wanna put on something called the Ring of Rage, in case there are backups. I broke it for a reason.”
“You destroyed the Ring in order to set free the victims of Pariah’s war raged across the infinite cosmos, releasing even Pacon from his status as the Fright Knight. Responsibility for nightmares falls back to Nocturne, which I’m sure he’s oh so happy about.”
“Still…”
“The ‘evil’ variant of your future and Pariah Dark are actually much the same, Danny.”
“You cannot-“
“Quiet. You were saying, Clockwork?”
“Very good use of a royal power, the sugar and energy infusion in the cookies must be working. Pariah Dark was originally a liminal spirit like yourself, half living half dead. The Observants ripped ghost and mortal, chaos and order, apart from one another, and crowned the ghost. Things went about as well as they did when your grieving, angry ghost was ripped from your mortal body, no longer regulated by the brain you’d been adapted to have.”
“So do I have to be completely dead to rule? Can’t you just wait then?!”
The observants began to wring their hands and shift their weight from side to side, drifting backward slowly. Danny narrowed his eyes.
“Well… you don’t have to be a full ghost but…”
“It’s tradition!”
“…… What stops me from shooting them both in the eye?”
“Absolutely nothing, your majesty. We haven’t even discussed the artifacts of power but we have time.”
“Artifacts? Do I have to wear the crown?”
“As well as something else to balance it out. Shall we?”

can you explain to me the levi au? i read the original post and i still don't get it
Okay so this is the post about Levi's origin but to summarize
Levi(athan) is an OC of mine who is the Ancient of Heroes (like how Clockwork is the Ancient of Time) and was the First Ghost King.
But he didn't like being the king like at all, so at some point he appointed the next King (my partner's OC Auberon ) and then he jsut left, hiding away at the edge of the ghost zone realm so no one can bother him there
He only come out of isolation just once to help kicking Pariah's ass to the sarcophagus and then peace out again
--
the AU kinda starts off with Danny finding out he looks like the first Ghost King and later on just.. accidentally found said guy just hanging around in middle of no where fighting monsters or sth
it's basically just grabbing this short feral man by the scruff and get him to meet and talk to ppl again
--
so when I refer to og!Levi, I meant this version of Levi, the I-haven't-talk-to-ppl-for-thousands-of-years-and-also-am-absolutely-a-feral kind of Levi
there's a reason for him going that far for isolation and I'm gonna explain it under cut bc it is long
So, I have drew this for angst week but in case it's hard read
Levi in this AU, his og AU, actually had lived through this timeline twice. On the first run, he was way more brass and way way more impulsive.
And he didn't really know how to properly do a King's job? so instead of getting help with the whole ruling thing, he took on everything on himself and it weigh him down really bad
I mean that's what heroes do, helping others by taking the burnt of it on themselves. and yes, Levi have a bad case of Saviour/Hero Complex because he literally was made from one akjsdnkajsd
oh yeah, in my AU, I hc that Ancients are made of concepts or stories ppl made. kind of like gods and such, stories and concepts given form. Levi is made from stories of heroes, ones who saved people and protecting others
so that's what he do, thats what his core is
which clashes with being a King all about, because when you're a King, esp on times of chaos n war, you WILL have to make sacrifices. And it cannot be yourself, bc ppl would still need you to lead them. And that fucks him up, because the whole thing with Heroes complexs are sacrificing themselves to make sure everyone else is safe
so he took everything on his own, stretched himself thin, and eventually got caught off guard n he failed to safe a town/village. It was literally destroyed right in front of him n that just broke him
he asked Chronos (the first timeline's Clockwork) to turn back time so he can fix this n Chronos refused bc duh its bad. .....so Levi tried to turn back time himself
But the problem with that is, time magic.. requires compatible magic user to use them. And Levi, who is very much not a time ghost, cannot use it. But he IS a very VERY strong ghost, so he brute force it, and basically broke the timeline all together
Chronos got there in time (lol) and tried to fix/sealed it, but it drains all his power, but before that, he sent Levi back in time to prevent this from happening in the first place
So here's Levi, back in time, to when he was supposed to meet Chronos the first time. But Chronos never showed up, bc he lost all power and essentially died, and have to reform again, to the one we now know as Clockwork.
And now Levi get to live through this timeline knowing what will happen in the future and can react accordingly. But it also made him a bit more distant? Keeping everyone's at arm length bc he is way older and more tired than he was the first time.
like if u know whats going to happen it'll be a bit harder to get super invested into what is going on basically?
So he's now keeping ppl at distance and doesnt really bothers as much to befriend ppl anymore bc what if he fcked up n got em killed again?
and then time goes on and he crowned Auberon and then he leave for good
So, there's Levi.. who haven't had.. or tried to make any meaningful relationship since (he did make frens but he left all of em behind so) and now are being dragged kicking n screaming to socialize agian lmao
#long post#sorry that's kinda long akjsdnakjsdn#i made his backstory super long n then just hav a very ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ of what he do now lmao#hopefully its more.. coherent?#do tell if its not#i tend to go around before getting to my point so it might be confusing orz#asks#dp levi

Ghosts that were friendly to Danny Part 2
Based on a post i made years ago, i want to write a second part of it. In the first post i talked about The Dairly King, Cujo and Wulf as ghost characters that were friendly to Danny or later became friends with him.
In this post i want to cover other ghosts that i didn't get to talk about in first part. I'm going to discuss them for separate, like i did in the previous post.
Clockwork
Introduced in the episode ¨The Ultimate Enemy¨ Clockwork starts more as an antagonist that is ordered by the Observants to get rid of Danny in the present because in the future he is going to turn into a powerful ghost that destroys almost anything that he sees.
After Danny discovers the origins of his evil future self (Dan Phantom/Dark Danny) and defeats him near the end of the special, Clockwork stops the Nasty Burger explosion and saves Danny's familiy and friends from dying. He tells Danny that he was planning on going against his superiors orders and gives him a second chance in doing things right this time.
Clockwork appears again in ¨Masters of All Time¨ when Danny begs him to change the timeline so Vlad never turned into a half ghost. He warns Danny about the consequences of messing with the timeline but the teen ignoes his advice. At the end of the episode Danny returns the timeline the way it was, with Clockwork being happy that Danny seemed to learn his lesson.
It appears that Clockwork was intended to be a mentor figure to Danny. They have a similar dynamic like this in ¨A Glitch in Time¨, after Clockwork gets free from his fusion with Dan. He seems to care about Danny in general and wants to guide him in the correct path.
Often it is hard to define if he is meant to be seen as an ally or an enemy, as it depends on which path he considers it is the best that should be taken, regardless if Danny is in favor of these outcomes. Since Clockwork keeps tracks of the timelines, his morality is different from the regular human or ghost, taking different measures for the ¨greater good¨.
Princess Dorathea
Initially an antagonist in ¨Beauty Marked¨, she takes Sam Manson prisoner so her brother Aragon can marry her. Throughout the episode it gets explored how Aragon is abusive towards Dorathea, and she in part takes it because it is what is ¨expected¨ for a princess in the Kingdom. Aragon constanly threatens her, telling her that she ¨doesn't think¨ and she must obey his orders.
Sam points out to Dora that she is as strong and as intelligent as Aragon. This inspires Dora to stand up against Aragon using her shapeshifting Dragon powers to take him down. Aragon gets ripped off his amulet and it is implied that Dorathea becomes the ruler of the kingdom after that.
Dora counts more as a ghost that was friendly to Sam than Danny. However, i think it still counts because she helped with fighting and defeating Aragon at the end. On a interesting point, she shares some parallels to Wulf. Both were being controlled and pressured to do bad things and the protagonists helped them, with them later returning the favor by standing up to the one that was mistreating them.
Frostbite/ Yetis from the Far Frozen
In the episode ¨Infinity Realms¨ Danny gets to meet a group of ghosts like yetis who adore him and see him as their champion for defeating Dark Pariah in ¨Reign Storm¨. Frostbite is the first of them that Danny meets, who initially was out of control because of an icicle that was stuck on him, causing him pain. Danny took the icicle off from him and Frostbite took them to meet the rest of his people.
Frostbite lets the teen trio see the Infi-map. They accidentally activate it and later Danny uses it to go around the Ghost Zone. He later chases down Vlad to take the map back until Vlad ends up in the Far Frozen and the yetis use their powers to freeze Vlad. Danny apologizes for not bringing the map sooner, to which Frostbite says that there wasn't any harm done.
In ¨Urban Jungle¨ Danny visits him to ask for help with his ice related powers. Frostbite explains to Danny that he has an ice core all this time and he helps Danny with learning to control his ice powers. It takes him a while, but eventually he is able to grasp how to use them properly. Danny uses said powers to defeat Undergrowth and free Amity Park.
Like Clockwork, Frostbite was another character that looked like was intended to be another mentor figure to Danny. This happens in the episode ¨Urban Jungle¨ with Frostbite teaching Danny about his ice powers. It is possible that he was intended to have more moments like this with Danny if the series hadn't ended in Season 3.
Amorpho
Amorpho is a ghost that shapeshifts into other things or people. His main episode is ¨Forever Phantom¨ where he gets jealous of Phantom' popularity and takes the form of the teen half-ghost to get attention.
Because of this, both Danny and Amorpho later get in trouble with a fenton machine messing up their ghost powers. They work together to get away from the crowd that is chasing after them and go back to the Fentons to fix their powers.
Amorpho is an interesting case of a ghost as he isn't as extreme as others and most of his actions are intended to be pranks. He is able to realize when he takes things too far like he does near the end of the episode. He apologizes to Danny for causing trouble. Danny lets him takes his Phantom form as long as he stays away from Amity Park, something that Amorpho accepts with any issue.
Pandora
In the episode "Boxed-Up Fury" Danny looks for Pandora to tell her about how the Box Ghost has her box and he is using it to attack the Amity Park. Pandora is enraged by this and goes to fight Box Ghost personally. During the battle she asks Danny to help her and the two together manage to get the box back, stopping the Box Ghost.
Pandora plays the role of guardian of the Pandora's Box, keeping it safe from anyone who could use it for selfish desires. She explains to Danny and the others that the box was built with the purpose of trapping monsters and ¨a lot of evil¨ that there is in the Ghost Zone to make the Zone a better place. She uses a reverse option the box to catch all the monsters that were unleashed by Box Ghost during the story, trapping them inside again.
In spite of her rage, she can be pretty friendly when she isn't angry. Danny is seen hanging out with her near the end of the episode as they keep watch on Box Ghost and making sure he is following his punishment for stealing the box and using it to attack the city. While she could be a possible mentor figure to Danny, they seem to be more friends and allies.
-----
In all, these are other ghosts that have been friendly to Danny or became allies after Danny helped them. In this part we see ghosts that could become mentor figures to Danny and others that weren't exactly evil like Princess Dora and Amorpho.
It is certainly interesting to see ghosts that had their reasons to do bad things and others that aren't evil at all. It gives more variety to the Ghost Zone itself and ghosts than just being monsters of the week Danny has to defeat.
I'm not sure if i'm missing more of them, if not i can add them in another post and talk about them.

Eldritch Ghosts
My piece for Day 4 of DP Side Hoes Week! Initially, I was kinda wary about writing this one just because I usually don’t really do a ton of world building in my fics, but I’m actually pretty happy with how this one came out!
Character: Clockwork Theme: Origin
---
Every ghost had an origin story, the tale of how they came to be. For most, they were created from a dying body, driven to existence through a deep sense of purpose. Perhaps a dying wish they never got to fulfill, or an especially traumatic death that resulted in an overexertion of brain matter in the last moments. For most, this was their origin story.
For other ghosts, they were created in the Zone. Most of that group were born from the procreation of two other ectoplasmic creatures. Not all ghosts had the capabilities of reproduction, but some of the more sentient, more powerful ghosts could find a way if they so pleased.
But for a small group, they were born from the Zone itself. From the deepest, most ancient parts of this vast expanse of ectoplasmic energy. There were only a few ghosts who developed this way, but those few possessed powers that other ghosts could only dream of.
They were called eldritch ghosts.
“So what about you?” Phantom asked. He had taken a liking to a particular stuffed armchair in Clockwork’s haunt, lounging with his back to one arm and his legs dangling over the other. He asked the question lazily, his eyes more focused on the ice shapes he was creating in his palm than on Clockwork himself.
“How were you made?”
Clockwork shifted to his adult form. “I know you’re not a full fledged ghost, but even you should know the taboos of our culture.”
Phantom dissipated the ice crystals. “Oh come on, Clocky! You know how I got here.”
“I know how everyone got here. I am the master of—”
“Yeah, yeah.” Phantom shook his hand nonchalantly to the side. “Master of time, god of all past, present, and future, observer of all timelines and potential outcomes. I know, but even you have an origin story.”
“Not everyone has an exciting tale of origin, ghost child.”
“But you still came from somewhere.”
Clockwork turned his attention back to a portal he was watching. It was of a young ghost child learning to ride a bike for the first time. Clockwork had seen this before, and he would see it again in the future.
He sighed, shifting into his child form and wiping the portal to show a new landscape. It was dark, black. He waved his arm, zooming in further on the scene until a bright green orb of swirling ectoplasm came into view.
“Come, child.”
“Huh?” Phantom rose from the couch. “Oh, what’s that? Is that the zone?”
“Correct.”
Phantom peered closer to the scene until he was hovering just mere inches away from it. “I don’t get it. Where are all the doors?”
“There are no doors in this realm of the Ghost Zone. No portals to other lands, other timelines, or other worlds.”
“Oh. So then why are you showing me this?”
Clockwork pointed his metal staff towards the glowing green mass. “Do you see that?”
“Yeah?”
“That’s the epicenter of the Zone. We all exist around it in an ever growing mass of ectoplasm and space. Everything in this plane originated from that core.”
“Wait, the Zone has a core? Like ghosts do?”
Clockwork nodded, his purple hood bobbing at the movement. “That is correct.”
“Does that mean…” Phantom’s face scrunched up. “Does that mean the Zone is a ghost?”
“Not exactly. The Zone is not sentient, it is merely an expanse of space that emits ectoplasmic energy, the thing that creates and sustains us. Without this core, the ectoplasm in the Zone would be unable to sustain itself, and the Zone as we know it would cease to exist, along with all of us.”
Phantom’s eyes shifted warily back to the screen. “That’s sort of dangerous, isn’t it?”
“How so?”
“If the core is so important for us to stay alive, then why is it so...I don’t know, exposed? Couldn’t some insane ghost just go destroy it?”
“No,” Clockwork said. “That’s the biggest mystery of the Zone’s core. Anyone who’s ever tried to get near the core has never made it back in one piece. The core is so powerful that it incinerates any ghost who attempts to get close. Hence why there are no doors around it either.”
“What if someone just like accidentally stumbles across it? Like what if one day I’m flying, minding my own business, and I get too close to this core?”
“That wouldn’t happen. Ghosts can feel it.” He shifted to his elder form and waved his hand once more at the portal, zooming in even closer to the core until the duo could see all the individual swirling speckles of ectoplasm pulsating around the core.
Phantom was silent for a moment, staring up at the bright green core with childlike wonder. “It looks sort of like a sun.”
“It is like the sun. If we fly too close, we can feel it. But it’s not hot in the way a human sun is. It won’t burn or melt you if you get too close.”
“Then what happens?”
Clockwork took a deep breath, closing his eyes. It had been so long, an eternity even, but even he could never forget the way the Zone’s core felt. How it affected his core, how it directed the ambient ectoplasm around him, guiding him away from the ancient depths of the Zone.
Most ghosts would never get that lucky. Other ghosts would cease to exist.
But not him.
“A ghost who gets too close would feel an intense amount of pressure. At first, it’s just a slight warning, but the closer the ghost gets, the more they would feel as if gravity itself is imploding around them. But if they get close enough, the core’s radiant ectoplasm would begin to interact with the ghost’s own core, and they’ll be driven insane by the Zone’s sheer power. The ghost’s core would become parasitic, and would force the ghost’s body forward until the Zone’s core can reach them. At that point, they’d simply dissolve.”
Danny shuttered. “Seems like a bad way to go.”
“It is.”
“So…” Danny started, his tone shifting into one of cautious curiosity. “Not that this isn’t cool and all, ‘cause it is, but why are you telling me all this?”
Clockwork shifted back into his childlike form. “You wanted to know my origin story, did you not?”
“Well, yeah. But I don’t see how the Zone’s core has anything to do with you specifically. Other than, you know, us being a ghost and needing the Zone’s core to exist and all that.”
Clockwork held his gloved hand up to eye level, watching as the miniature clocks adorning his wrists ticked away at their various times. “Every couple thousand years, the Zone’s core has too much radiant ectoplasm it needs to dispel. A human star does this much more often in the form of solar flares. But the Zone’s core is made of ectoplasm, and so it dispels its energy in the form of a new ghost.”
“So...you mean...you were born from the Zone’s core?”
“Yes. Exactly.”
“And you’re still here?” Danny jumped up, swirling around Clockwork in alarm. “How? How did it not drive you insane and make you explode?”
Clockwork chuckled. “Child, I am the Zone’s child. Why would it kill its own creation so soon?”
“But you said the Zone wasn’t sentient.”
“That I did.” Clockwork hummed, shifting back into his adult form. He waved his staff once more at the portal, transforming the scene to a ghost wandering beyond where doors existed. If anything was amiss, the ghost paid no mind, traversing deeper into the empty landscape.
In a few hours, the ghost would be no more.
“I’m sure if I tried to go near it now, I would end up like this poor soul. But upon my creation, the core was expending excess energy. It wouldn’t have wanted to take back the energy it just spent so much effort getting rid of.”
Phantom eyed the portal, looking ill.
"Remember, child." Clockwork swung his staff, morphing the scene back into the child riding a bike. “The Zone is full of mysteries. Ones that I myself do not even fully understand.”

Ghosts in Gotham

Danny Phantom / DC Comics
Dedicated To: @psychovigilantewrites
Description: The Batfamily has been through their fair share of the supernatural. That’s why they originally weren’t worried whenever ghosts started showing up in Gotham City. Until one day, something happens; Batman is captured and taken into the Ghost Zone. With no way to go in there themselves, with no way to fight the ghosts inside, the bats decide to call the person who can; Danny Phantom. Together, Danny takes Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown and Damian Wayne into the Ghost Zone before the Batman is lost forever.

Chapter 3:
_
Danny could deal with a lot.
He'd dealt with dying. He'd dealt with becoming a ghost. He'd dealt with ghosts trying to kill him. He'd dealt with finding out that his dad's best friend wasn't only a halfa like him, but that he wanted to get with his mom. He'd dealt with ghost prison. He'd dealt with finding out he'd been cloned. He'd dealt with finding a future in which everyone he loved was dead and he himself was evil. He'd even dealt with girls.
He thought he could deal with anything.
But being stuck a small space with Damian Wayne and Tim Drake?
He wasn't so sure he could deal with that.
"You incompetent creature, why on earth are you listening to a C-average oaf instead of me?"
"Because the 'oaf' has been here before. We haven't."
"I possessed more intelligence than you and Fenton combined whenever I was four years old, and I have memorized the Infi-map. I am completely capable of commanding this voyage."
Danny's eye twitched at the arguing. It was worse than he and Jasmine. "Does it ever end?" he asked Stephanie through gritted teeth. The blonde sighed.
"Damian feels like he has to prove that he's superior to Tim," she explained. "It's not my place to tell you exactly why, but it's true. And he knows exactly how to get under Tim's skin."
"So.. no?"
"No."
Danny groaned. "It's giving me a headache." He perked up as he saw the island in front of him. "Hey, guys," he said, "We're here."
They had reached the lair of Clockwork. Clockwork was the master of time and could see into any timeline and all of the possible outcomes. Danny had the idea of asking him if he could show them the moment in which Bruce Wayne had disappeared, in the hopes that they could see which ghost it was.
It was a long shot, but it was the only idea Danny could think of.
Tim and Damian had stopped their arguing, unbuckling their seat belts as Danny landed the Speeder on the grounds of the lair.
"So this guy can tell us who took Bruce?" Stephanie asked as she opened the door, stepping on to the ground. Danny nodded.
"Yeah. I can't promise he'll help, but it's our best bet."
The foursome walked towards the massive clocktower, Damian walking in step with Danny as he gripped his sword. Danny knocked on the door, and it opened with a creak.
"Hello, Danny," a voice said. "And hello, Bats." Clockwork floated down. He was a small ghost, purple in color with a darker purple cloak.
"Whaddup, Clockwork," Danny greeted. "Long time no see." He heard Stephanie laugh at the pun behind him and then heard her grunt as Damian elbowed her.
"It has not been long to me, Danny," Clockwork replied. His eyes drifted over the group. "What do you want?"
"I assume that you know, Time Master," Damian answered before Danny could open his mouth, stepping forward until he was right beside a swirling vortex, although his eyes remained on the ghost. "We are looking for my Father, and Phantom says you can help."
"Damian Wayne," Clockwork said curtly. "Son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al’ Ghul. I understand that you are worried about your father, but I would suggest you step back before you see something you don't want to."
Danny was surprised to see that Damian obeyed. He narrowed his eyes. Clockwork almost seemed... nervous? "What aren't you telling us?"
"You are indeed a smart boy," Clockwork chuckled, "I hope you also can deduce that you were not brought here on accident. I was originally going to go and tell you myself, however, I have seen that it would be better for you to have Stephanie Brown, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne at your side."
"What's wrong?"
"Something has happened," Clockwork turned around, clasping his hands behind on his back as he floated further off. "The Observants have underestimated your power," he turned back around, locking his gaze with Danny's. "The power you have not yet gained."
Danny's face paled. "You don't mean-"
"That is all I can say," the ghost interrupted. "Leave now. I have work to do. I have to stop a little boy with a powerful watch from destroying his timeline."
Danny, however, couldn't move. He was frozen, his eyes wide. There was no way. He was locked in a thermos, with no possible way for a ghost to escape.
Although, that ghost wasn't just any ghost.
"What do you mean by that?" Damian demanded. "Tell us more. Now."
Clockwork looked at the boy with humor in his eyes. "Mr. Wayne, you should not threaten me." He waved his hand. "Now go. You do not have much... time."
Danny shook his head and turned around, walking towards the exit in a trance-like state. With a glance at Clockwork, the others followed, with Damian at the rear. Before he could leave, Clockwork called his name.
"Damian, listen closely," he said, shifting into an older ghost as he spoke. "You will one day get an offer. It will be a tempting offer, one that you will not want to refuse," his eyes darkened. "Do not accept it."
Damian blinked, before strutting outside to follow the others, not responding to Clockwork's warning.
Tim, Stephanie, and Danny were already on the ship as Damian walked out. As he opened the door to step in, he tuned into the conversation.
"So, you're telling us that an evil version of you exists outside of time, and it has Bruce," Tim said slowly. Danny nodded.
"We call him Dark Danny. In the alternate timeline, he- or, I, I guess -watched our family die. He couldn't handle the pain and guilt, so he had Vlad Masters- bad guy, by the way, deck him if you ever see him at a rich-person party -turn him into a full ghost, getting rid of the human side completely. It drove him mad, and without his human side, he was the most powerful ghost in the Ghost Zone. He destroyed the world."
"How did you defeat him?" Damian asked, pulling a capri-sun out of his cooler as he listened. Danny ran a hand through his hair.
"I don't know. Dumb luck, honestly. I guess I have a power that he didn't get until years later, and it knocked him off his game so I could take him down." He grimaced. "I probably wouldn't have beat him if I hadn't surprised him. He took down all of the other ghosts in the Ghost Zone by that point,"
"He must've taken out the Justice League, too," Stephanie mused, crossing her arms. "You said you didn't see them anywhere, right? The only reason they wouldn't have been fighting him is if..." she trailed off.
"We can defeat him," Damian said, crushing the capri-sun in his hand as he finished. "If Phantom can defeat him, then with our help, we can, too."
"Yeah, but like I said, it was only because I surprised him," Danny pointed out.
"Then let's surprise him again," Tim said. He took out the Infi-map. "Danny, who's your worst enemy here? If we can get them to help, and that might knock Dark Danny off his game."
"Pariah Dark," Danny answered instantly. "But that's a terrible idea, trust me," he paused, thinking. "We do need backup, and I know of at least two who could help." He turned his body intangible before Tim could respond, and flew out of the Speeder. He landed in front of it, and putting both of his fingers in his mouth, he whistled. "Come here, Cujo!"
It took a few seconds, but a small green dog zipped in front of Danny, jumping in his arms and knocking him over. Danny smiled widely as he scratched behind Cujo's ears.
"Hey, little guy!" he laughed as the dog licked his face. "I missed you too! You down for an adventure?" Cujo barked, wagging his tail. "I'll take that as a yes," Danny said, phasing back into the Speeder.
"Guys," he said, setting the dog down. "I'd like you to meet Cujo, the best boy in the entire Ghost Zone."
Damian's eyes lit up behind his mask, kneeling down and hugging Cujo as the dog barreled into him, not paying attention as Tim spoke.
"Don't get me wrong, he's adorable, but he doesn't look like he can pack a punch," he said, watching the dog fondly.
"Trust me, he's a fighter," Danny assured him. Tim nodded.
"If you say so, but man, I wish I had a dog," He walked over to where Damian was, scratching Cujo's back. Damian scowled, pulling the dog closer.
"Get back, Drake, Cujo clearly prefers me over you."
"Damian, come on, you have so many pets and I don't have any-"
"You have Bart."
"Bart is not my pet-"
"He is the human version of an Australian Shepherd minus the intelligence-"
As the two bickered, Danny looked at Stephanie. "Damian likes animals?" Stephanie laughed.
"Oh you have no idea, he has a dog, a cat, a cow-"
"A cow?"
"His name is Bat-Cow!" Damian snapped from where he had begrudgingly let Tim hold the dog.
"I love everything about that," Danny laughed. "That's the best name." Damian looked at Tim with a smug look on his face.
"See, Drake? Bat-Cow is a great name."
"I never said it wasn't!"
Danny started to ask Stephanie a question before he heard a crash and the Speeder lurched to the side.
"We've been hit!" Tim yelled, jumping off of the floor and grabbing the Speeder's controls, trying to steady the craft. Danny merged out of the Speeder and narrowed his eyes as he saw the culprit.
A gray ghost in black armor with flaming hair sneered, his arm smoking from where he had shot the Speeder. "Whelp," he growled.
"Nice to see you too, Shorty!" Danny said in a mock-cheerful tone. "Here to kill me? Because you didn't have to shoot the ship, you could've just yelled 'I am Skulker, and you are my prey! Prepare to die!'" he lowered his voice as he imitated the bounty hunter. "And then I would say something witty back, and I would pound you into the ground."
"You aren't the only prey this time, Ghost Child." Skulker answered with a menacing grin.
"You after the Bats?" Danny asked with a raised eyebrow. "If you were trying to kill them, you did a crappy job of it. That blast didn't kill anyone."
"That's the point. I think it'd be fun to beat the proteges of Batman, so they need to be alive and able to fight." he pointed downwards, and Danny followed his gaze, before swooping down to follow.
Somehow, he hadn't noticed that the Speeder was plummeting down to the island below. While the Specter Speeder was durable enough to keep from dying on impact, he didn't want them to crash.
He hurled himself in front of the Speeder, and crossing his arms, made a force field that surrounding the Speeder. Danny grunted at the exertion, gritting his teeth as he tried to keep the force field surrounding the heavy ship.
The ship still crashed with a loud bang, leaving a large crater around it, but the ship itself was intact. Danny dropped his arms and fell to his knees, exhausted.
The door opened, and his three companions stepped out. "Nice one!" Stephanie praised, and Danny gave her a thumbs-up as he tried to catch his breath. He felt somebody nudge his shoulder, and he saw Damian standing above him with a capri-sun in his hand.
"Drink this," he said, handing Danny the drink. "Do not waste it. I can destroy you."
"Thanks," Danny panted as he poked the straw into the pouch. Damian nodded stiffly.
"Hate to interrupt," Tim said, helping Danny to his feet. "But that that Iron Man wannabe is headed this way."
Danny finished his drink and threw it over his shoulder as his fists lit up with a green aura, ignoring Damian's huff of protest at the littering.
Skulker chuckled as he cracked his knuckles. "Well, look at that," he sneered, "Not a scratch on you! I'm impressed."
"You? Impressed? Who would've thought," Danny said, narrowing his eyes.
Tim pulled out a bo-staff, twirling it around as Damian unsheathed his sword. Stephanie moved to stand beside Danny as she gripped her eskrima sticks.
"Oh, you will soon be impressed yourself," Skulker said as his arms morphed into guns. "You see, I-" he was cut off with a grunt as Danny rushed forward and sent a strong right-hook into his face.
Skulker flew back a few yards before finding his feet again. He glared at Danny. "That was low even for you Ghost Boy. Interrupting me I monologue."
Danny shrugged. "What can I say? It’s the same reason why I’m failing Chemistry; I have a short attention span.” He grinned. "But he doesn't!"
While they had been talking, Damian had managed to get behind Skulker. He jumped into the air, drop-kicking the ghost, sending him to the ground with a thud. Danny picked Skulker up and gave him an uppercut, launching him into the sky.
Skulker shook his head, steadying himself, and shot a barrage of ectoblasts at the four heroes below. Danny made his body intangible while the others, used to being shot at, dodged the blasts with ease. Tim shot his grappling hook at Skulker, wrapping the cord around his leg and pulling him back to the ground.
Tim swung the cord, launching Skulker to the side where his body was met by two hits of Stephanie's eskrima sticks. Skulker merged through the cord and landed on the ground, his teeth grinding together in fury.
"Enough!" he shouted, and sent a shock wave from his arms that blew them back. "I am sick of your pathetic attempts at besting me, whelp! When will you learn that you cannot best the Ghost Hunter!"
"Uh, kind of hard to learn that after I've beaten you, like, every single time we've fought," Danny retorted, putting his hands on his hips with a smirk.
Skulker's eye twitched. "My employer said to bring you in alive, but I don't think he'd mind you all missing a few limbs." His arms morphed into missile launchers, and he held them out at the four.
"Phantom, you possess electrokinesis, correct?" Damian asked quietly, tensing his muscles. Danny nodded.
"Yeah." He met Damian's eyes and smirked as he realized what the younger boy had in mind.
Damian grabbed on to Danny's arm, and, turning them both intangible and invisible, Danny carried Damian into the air, right above Skulker. One of Danny's hands crackled with electricity, and the tip of his fingers brushed against Damian's sword. The blade lit up like a taser. Damian and Danny exchanged a glance and, using Danny's shoulder for leverage, Damian jumped, free-falling towards Skulker.
By the time Skulker saw Damian, it was too late. Damian jabbed his electrified sword into Skulker's armor.
"Oh, crud," Skulker muttered as his armor crackled with electricity, before short-circuiting and launching him into the sky and out of sight.
"Nice one, Damian!" Danny floated to the ground, a wide smile on his face. He raised his hand for a high five. "Up top!"
"Tt. The act of high-fiving is such a ridiculous notion," Damian muttered, but he smacked his hand against the other's anyways. "You did quite well yourself."
"That guy-" Tim popped his shoulder back into place, wincing. "-does not pass the vibe check."
Stephanie snorted. "That guy is the vibe check, Timbers."
Damian sheathed his sword. "I assume that we all have gathered that his employer was Dark Danny?" It was more a statement than a question.
"Oh, for sure," Danny said, before stumbling as Cujo barreled into him. Danny huffed as he lifted the dog to his face. "Where were you, big guy?"
"Are you sure this dog can help us take Future-You down?" Stephanie asked with a raised eyebrow. "A fat lot of help he just was."
"I think he was just sleeping," Danny said as he sat the dog down. "I promise he'll be useful."
"Ship looks pretty good, considering," Tim said from where he was looking at the Specter Speeder. "I think whatever he hit us with just killed the engine. It should start back up."
Danny frowned, a finger on his chin as he pondered aloud. "So if Future-Me has employed Skulker, then he's gotta be somewhere that Skulker has access to. His lair, maybe? But I doubt it. They'd need to be somewhere with some pretty high-tech stuff if they're keeping Batman hostage."
"Are there any technology-related ghosts?" Stephanie asked. Danny didn't answer at first as he watched Tim switch the Speeder on.
"Yes," Danny finally answered. "There is, but I doubt he knows who he's working for. Skulker probably doesn't know either." Danny paused, and the smallest hint of a smile ghosted across his face as another thought struck him. "And I bet Skulker's girlfriend knows even less than that."
_
"So you're tellin' me Skulker's working for Future You? Who took away my voice and my beauty?" A ghost with pink, flaming hair in a high ponytail asked. "Now why the heck would you do that for? I thought we were cool."
"We are. This guy is me from another timeline. He isn't me." Danny explained to Skulker's girlfriend. Ember McLain, the Ghost of Song, crossed her arms, her lips turning into a frown.
"No way he would work with someone who wronged me like that. He would never."
"He doesn't know," Tim spoke up. "He probably just offered him money, or whatever currency you use, in exchange for taking Danny and us."
The Infi-map had taken the four to Ember's lair. If anybody could convince Skulker to stop, Danny had reasoned, it would be her.
"With you, Skulker, Cujo and Wulf on our side, we can beat him," Danny said. "Seeing Skulker and I work together might trip him up," he paused. "You do want to beat this guy, right? I mean, he will end up destroying your voice." Even though Ember might not care about the human world being obliterated, she would definitely care about the same thing happening to her voice.
Stephanie and Damian had stayed in the Speeder with Damian. Stephanie's eyes were wide behind her cowl. "Damian, that's Ember McLain," she whispered. "Remember that song Remember from a couple of years ago? The one Jason wouldn't stop singing on patrol? She sang it! And she's a ghost!"
"Of course she is a supernatural being, Brown, I told you she had the voice of a siren," Damian whispered back.
"I'll talk to him," Ember agreed. "He'll listen to me. You guys go find Wulf, and we'll meet you at Technus' place."
"Great." Danny smiled. "Thanks, Ember. I owe you one."
"Well, I might just take you up on that sometime, Ghost Kid."
"So, Wulf," Tim began as the two walked back towards the ship. "He's like a werewolf? You said?"
"He isn't a werewolf, but he looks like what you'd expect a werewolf to look like," Danny explained. "He's a beast, literally and figuratively. And his claws can tear open a portal to our world, so once we get Batman, we can get out of the Ghost Zone fast."
"Great. Where is he?"
"That's the fun part," Danny replied as he got into the Specter Speeder. "We have to break him out of prison. And the people who own it do not like me.”

Play Your Part 2
Chapter 2: Life’s Not Making Sense
Feat. the last bits based on @cordria‘s original fic. I want to add some clever chapter notes but I don’t think I have any that can go before the chapter instead of after? Hm.
[first] [previous] [next] [AO3] [FFnet]
When Danny opened his eyes, it was to the sight of both of his friends bending over him. Worry was clearly visible in both Sam’s and Tucker’s eyes, for once not disguised by the glow of their ghost forms.
“Danny?” Sam asked, her eyes widening as the both of them stepped back to give him a little more space. “Are you alright?” Then, after a brief hesitation, she added, “Sorry, standard question.”
“I think so.” Danny pushed himself into a seated position, rolling his shoulders and feeling the muscles ache from the sheer power he had encountered just now. “What happened?”
“Not sure,” Tucker said, cocking his head. “But I bet it was the Nasty Burger you ate. I told you it didn’t taste right.”
“Nasty Burger?” Danny repeated, blankly. What was that supposed to be? It sure didn’t sound like something you would want to eat. “What…”
He trailed off as he noticed something weird. Not only were his friends hovering over him when, moments before, they hadn’t been anywhere nearby. He was outside. How? Hadn’t he just been in his parents’ lab?
Jerking slightly, he turned to look around him. It didn’t take him long to recognize the park, even if it didn’t make sense. If something had happened with the necklace, why was he in the park? Shouldn’t he be at home, then, getting looked over or something?
“Yup,” Tucker confirmed for him, drawing his attention back to the nonsensical conversation they were having. “Are you fine, or do you need to go home?”
“Tucker,” Sam scolded, swatting at the boy. “He just collapsed for no reason. Of course he’s not fine!”
“You know how fast he heals,” Tucker muttered, making no sense again. “Just because he fainted doesn’t mean that he can’t go to the movie. I figured I might as well ask before I wrote off all our plans for the day.”
Danny opened his mouth to answer, but then hesitated and closed it again. Was he fine? He didn’t feel all that bad, the ache in his muscles receding already, but… but what had happened to him? He couldn’t remember how he had gotten here, in the park, and Tucker seemed to be talking nonsense as well. Something had happened in the lab, and he couldn’t remember anything after, and… “I think…”
“He’s going home.” Sam nodded decisively.
“But it’s Dead Teacher Eleven,” Tucker moaned, slumping dramatically. “The not-to-miss continuance of the blood and guts nonsense of Dead Teacher Ten. You’ve read the reviews – we can’t miss it!”
Ignoring the debate for the moment, Danny pushed himself up to his feet. But the moment he stood, his legs wavered, balance still upset from the wave of white-hot energy earlier. Sam and Tucker caught him immediately, grabbing him by the shoulders to help him stay upright.
“I think Sam’s right,” he said, softly. At the very least, his mom could tell him what happened after he grabbed the necklace, after the energy strike.
Now Tucker cocked his head, looking at him with even more concern in his eyes. “You’re voluntarily going home? Should I call 9-1-1?”
“So what?” he grunted back, frustrated. The day had been long and hellish, and he still didn’t understand what was happening, and he was just so tired of all the confusion and the otherness. “So I’m not as strong as you. Leave off.”
Tucker blinked. Blinked again. “What?” he finally replied, blankly.
“You heard me.” Danny huffed, squirming a little in the arms of Sam and Tucker. He was strongly considering asking them to just fly him home so he could get answers. “Just… Let’s just go home, I’m done.”
Both of his friends shared a worried glance, but nodded, and together they started walking back. Neither of them offered to fly him, which was… strange. Normally they were oh-so eager to show off.
They made it all the way to the edge of the park before Sam pulled to a sudden stop, making Danny stumble as a result.
“Danny,” she breathed, eyes fixed on something in the distance.
“What?” he grumbled back, annoyed.
“The Box Ghost,” Tucker finished for her, also looking in the distance. He raised a hand, pointing helpfully at the specter.
Danny watched the blue ghost as well, wondering how the annoying spirit had gotten out the Ghost Zone. Then he realized that not only was no one stopping him, they were… running away? Why? Any of these people, these halfas, could’ve taken on the weak spirit with ease. Why were they running?
“Are you going to do something?” Sam asked, impatiently, as she crossed her arms.
“Me?” Danny took his eyes off of the bizarre spectacle, raising a questioning eyebrow at Sam.
“Who else?” Tucker shrugged, still keeping one spectacled eye on the Box Ghost. “You’re the half-ghost.”
He felt himself still entirely. His muscles tensed, protesting quietly.
“I’m what?!” he shouted, before immediately slapping his hands over his mouth to avoid drawing attention. Then, more quietly, he repeated, “I’m what?”
Sam and Tucker shared another glance, before settling worried eyes on him once more.
“You’re not our Danny, are you?” Sam asked, her tone flat as if she already knew the answer. But that… but that couldn’t be, right? Wasn’t he the only Danny? The only him?
Apparently the confusion in his eyes just confirmed it for her, because she nodded and turned to Tucker. “Definitely not ours, then. Must’ve happened after we lost track of him, which is why he was knocked out.”
“So it wasn’t that Nasty Burger?” Tucker shook his head, sounding somewhat disappointed. “Too bad, because I could’ve sworn something was up with that. Ah well. Wanna bet our Danny got swapped with this one?”
“Probably,” Sam acknowledged with a nod. “I wonder why. Actually…” She nudged him, and Danny startled back to awareness, too occupied with trying to make sense of the conversation to actually follow it. “Hey, what is your world like?”
“My… world?” He frowned, trying to figure out what she could be referring to, exactly. Obviously it must be pretty similar, right, if he looked like their Danny, and they looked like his Sam and Tucker?”
“Yeah, world, universe, dimension, timeline. Whatever you wanna call it.” Tucker shrugged, pulling a PDA from his pocket. Well, that stayed the same as well, he supposed. “Anything major happening over there? Anything that could benefit from the intervention of a half-ghost?”
“… no?” Danny tried, uncertainly. “I mean, what is one more, right?”
The two of them shared a knowing glance, then Tucker said, “One more? There’s that many halfas over there?”
“Well, yeah. Who isn’t?” Then he grimaced. “Well, besides me, I guess. And my parents are convinced that there’s still humans out there, somewhere, but I don’t think I believe them on that. No one but me.”
“Wait, everyone is a halfa?” Sam repeated, sounding… thrown off. Thrown off and shocked and astonished. “Everyone but you? That’s like, pretty much the reverse of here. Holy shit.”
“Uh huh.” Danny’s eyes caught on the blue ghost that was still causing a ruckus in the streets, telekinetically throwing boxes all around. “Um. So is no one gonna stop the Box Ghost, or…?”
“What?” Sam turned around, saw the Box Ghost, and sighed. She shook her head as she turned back to Danny. “Eh, he’s not all that dangerous. I’m sure the Fentons will pick up on his presence soon enough and come hunt him down. We’ve got more important things to focus on.”
“… right.” Danny took his eyes off of the ghost again to squint at Sam. Her casual dismissal of the Box Ghost was strange, since apparently no one here was half-ghost. Wasn’t he still a danger to regular humans? “So, um. Any idea what’s going on?”
“Well, it doesn’t sound like Clockwork?” Tucker shrugged uncertainly. “I’m not sure who else could’ve done it, to be honest. I didn’t see anyone else, and it was such a short window that there’s no way Vlad could’ve done it.”
“Why would Vlad have done it?” Sam asked, a harsh tone to her voice. “In the hopes of pulling in a Danny that was not only also half-ghost, but also more obedient to him? There’s no way he would’ve taken that risk.”
“Wait, wait, wait.” Danny held up his hand, halting the discussion. “You’re telling me that you have proof that Clockwork exists? How? We have an entire population of half-ghosts and the many ghosts of the Zone, and we don’t have proof.”
“Uh, yeah.” Tucker tapped around on his PDA a little, then pulled up a photo of a ghost. Blue skin, empty red eyes with a scar over one of them. Purple hood and robe as well, it seemed, but it was hard to tell since only the ghost’s head was on the photo. “He messes with you, or uh, Danny, sometimes. To make sure the future turns out right, and stuff.”
Danny nodded at this, accepting the information. Based on the stories, and on what Tucker just told him, it didn’t sound like Clockwork was responsible. But what else could’ve…?
Oh. Oh.
“Guys,” he said, unintentionally interrupting the conversation between his friends again, which he had zoned out of. “I think I might know how this happened.”
“You do?” Tucker shot him a hopeful grin, tapping around on his PDA. “That’s great, because I was running out of options on my list. Let’s hear it, man!”
“I think, um. I might’ve done it? From my, uh, universe, at least?”
“I thought you weren’t a half-ghost?” Sam asked skeptically, one eyebrow raised. “And I doubt your parents’ inventions would’ve been responsible for it, if they’re not ghost hunters on your side.”
“Ghost hunters?” Danny repeated incredulously. “Well, no, they hunt humans, obviously.” At her sharp glare he blanched, dropping back to the original topic. “But I was in the lab with Mom, right, and there was this necklace on one of the desks. And she asked me to clean it up, but when I picked it up, it released some kind of weird energy pulse? Then I blacked out and I woke up here.”
“Yeah, that’ll do it,” Tucker agreed with a nod. His stylus moved over the screen rapidly as he tapped away the new information. “D’you think it was a ghost artifact? Must be, right, with that kind of powers?”
“Probably, yeah.” He hummed, then perked up as his ears picked up on a strange noise. Was that… screeching metal?
An enormous tank-like vehicle screamed into the street. Silver, with green accents, and a flame-like logo on the side, a large F in the center of it. Wait, didn’t Sam mention…
The doors slammed open, and in perfect sync, two people jumped out. Both dressed in very familiar jumpsuits, one teal, the other orange.
He groaned, slumping in on himself. He wasn’t sure if it was better or worse, knowing that his parents were just as eccentric in this world as they were in his own.
“Some things don’t change, huh?” Tucker asked, a grin on his face. “At least they’re helpful for once, since we don’t have to worry about Boxy while they’re hunting him.”
“And,” Sam pointed out, “we can borrow the Specter Speeder while they’re not home! If it is a ghost artifact, and it probably is, let’s be real, then we can find out more in the Ghost Zone.”
“Wait, hold on.” Danny held out his hands, breaking up her enthusiastic speech. “You want us to go into the Ghost Zone? Three ordinary humans? That’s suicide.”
“Nah, it’ll be fine,” Tucker dismissed immediately, flapping his hand. “We’ve been there tons of time, and we’re still fine, aren’t we? And we can ask Jazz to come along, too, so it’ll be the four of us.”
“But, but--”
“The Speeder has built-in weapons, Danny, it’ll be fine.” Sam grabbed him by the shoulders and started pushing him in the direction of his house. “Let’s get a move on, Boxy won’t distract them forever.”
“This world is insane,” he groaned, but he gave up on protesting. If he could survive his usual life surrounded by half-ghosts, surely the Zone wouldn’t kill him either.
He only hoped that, if the Danny from this world had taken his place, that the boy was doing alright, too. Oh god, if he was a half-ghost and used his powers around his parents they would never give up on Danny getting powers too!
Or… or they might see the son they had always wanted, but didn’t get. An actual half-ghost, like them, instead of a human abomination like him. Maybe… maybe this was the way it was always supposed to have been…
When Danny opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was his mom leaning over him. The first thing he thought was ‘oh man, some ghost must’ve jumped me in the park.’ That, at least, would explain the bright flash of light – and the searing pain that followed it.
“Oh, Danny! Are you okay?” his mom asked, a cool washrag in her hand. He noticed, now, that he was laying on the couch in the living room. That was a little strange. If Sam and Tucker had brought him home, why hadn’t they put him in his bed?
His head pounded when he tried to think about it, though, and instead he decided to answer his mom. Maybe she could tell him more. “What happened?” he moaned.
“What do you remember, sweetie?” She pressed the washrag against his forehead, concern clear in her violet eyes.
“I was in the park with Sam and Tucker,” he started, slowly, trying to put together his memories. He wasn’t sure if he should mention the light, but… but his parents would blame it on a ghost anyway. “There was this bright light… and then I woke up here?”
She clicked her tongue sympathetically. “You must have lost a bit of your memory. You made it all the way home, you were helping me in the lab. There was an accident and you got shocked.”
“Makes sense,” he muttered, scrunching his eyes closed a little. He knew how much his parents’ technology ‘liked’ him. Another downside of living with his ghost-hunting parents as a half-ghost.
“You’re going to stay home from school tomorrow,” his mom continued in a no-nonsense tone. “I’m not going to let you take any more of that bullying after a shock like that.”
At this, Danny raised an eyebrow. He hadn’t told either of his parents about Dash… had Jazz? “Okay,” he told her, though. Any excuse to stay out of school was one he would gladly take. Maybe he could catch up on homework for once, or, hell, maybe he could get some sleep for once. He would deal with the inevitable repercussions later.
“I’m sure you’ve got a headache, sweetie.” She brushed a lock of his hair out of his eyes, gently.
The pain in his head was ebbing away already, thankfully; one of the upsides of being half-ghost. But he was feeling achy, still, and there were still bruises on his body from an earlier battle with Skulker. A few painkillers would be more than welcome, so he nodded.
“I’ll get you some aspirin and you can take a nap.” She got up, but hovered for a moment longer. “If it doesn’t go away, we’ll take you in to see the doctor tomorrow.”
Ugh, no thanks. The pain was already pretty much gone, anyway. That, and he couldn’t risk a doctor finding out about his ghost half. It would be… it would be bad beyond words, he was sure.
As he laid back against the cushions of the couch, he couldn’t help but wonder what invention of his parents got him this time. Usually he was careful enough in the lab to avoid them, and most wouldn’t have been powerful enough to knock him out, anyway. Not while their effect was dampened because he was in his human form.
His mom returned, handing him two aspirin and a glass of water. “Thanks,” he said, swallowing the pills.
“You’re welcome, Danny.” She smiled, pulling up a blanket to cover him. “Just lay here and get some rest. And don’t worry about your ghost powers… you’ll get them soon, I’m sure.”
Danny’s mind ground to a sudden halt. Eyes widening, he stared at his mom, her own eyes sincere and caring. Ghost powers?
“R-Right,” he stuttered back, uncertainly. “I’m… sure.”
She nodded, patting him on the head. “Like I said before, in the lab. You’re a late bloomer, like your dad. But you’ll see, once you’ve got them, that you’ll be far more powerful than the others, okay? You’re a Fenton.”
“Uh huh,” he agreed, blankly. What on Earth was this about? Why was she talking about ghost powers, and him still getting them? Why was she implying that his dad had them, too? Hell, it sounded like they were normal for their family, but--
Wait. Was he… Had he jumped into a different universe? Or timeline or whatever? Is that why his memories didn’t line up right? Had he swapped with some powerless Danny, into a world where he was supposed to be a half-ghost?
“Sorry, I’ll let you get some sleep.” She smiled, ruffling his hair once more, before she moved away again. “I’ll wake you up for dinner, okay?”
“Yeah, uh. Yeah. Thanks, Mom.” His eyes were locked on her. She looked like his own mom. She sounded and acted like his own mom. Was she still a ghost hunter, if his dad was a halfa too? Was his dad like him, in his ghost form, using his powers to hunt dangerous ghosts? How much did they know about halfas?
Was this a learning opportunity provided to him by Clockwork? To make up for the non-existent mentoring Vlad offered?
Well, there was no point in worrying about it now, was there? Better to get that nap first, so his mom would stop worrying. That, and he would think better when he was well rested. Or, that’s what Jazz always said, at least.
And with that, he let himself nod off, laying on a couch in a living room just like his own, in a world that wasn’t.
As she had said, his mom – or this version of her – woke him up for dinner. A little sleep-drunk, he stumbled after her into the kitchen, joining his dad and Jazz at the table. Both of them looked ordinary, but apparently this Jack Fenton had ghost powers. Presumably, Jazz did as well, if they were all counting on him having them too.
“Danny-boy!” his dad boomed when he sat down, “Heard some of the kids at school were messing with you again! Just wait til you get your powers, then you can kick all of their butts!”
“Dad,” Jazz chided, her eyes briefly flickering purple. Wait, hold on. Purple, huh? Not the color he would’ve imagined for Jazz, that’s for sure. “Don’t give him any bad ideas! Using powers to fight is a terrible idea, and it’s against the school rules.”
Their dad rolled his eyes. “Nonsense. He needs to show them his power, that’s the only thing young halfas listen to! Right, kiddo?”
“Uh. I dunno?” He shrugged, trying to dig the presented information out of this bit of conversation. Were powers… normal, here? Did everyone have them? Well, everyone but him? Was he bullied not because of his parents, but because of his lack of powers?
Yeesh, he didn’t know if that was better or worse than how it was back home. It definitely meant that he couldn’t risk fighting back. If they discovered he had powers before he swapped back with the powerless Danny that was supposed to be here, he could get this other version of himself seriously hurt.
He only hoped that other Danny was doing alright, back in his own universe. Sam and Tucker would realize pretty quickly, right? As long as no powerful ghosts attacked, none that required Phantom’s intervention, it would be alright. And if Clockwork was responsible for this, and surely he was, then things would definitely be okay.
