Ahahaha thank you, this is awesome! I've been excited to answer this all day. I'm assuming you're referring to this list, which is the drivers' song choices for the Bristol Motor Speedway Night Race. This happens every year at Bristol specifically and has been happening since 2009! Not relevant to the question, just a fun fact I wanted to share!

I mean the obvious choice would be Hey Jude by the Beatles. But I haven't decided whether or not they'd be canon within the Judeverse yet.

Other unserious picks would be Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell, as I consider that to be "her song." Corona by Minutemen, Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Good Ol' Boys by Waylon Jennings also come to mind. (Theme song for "Jackass" the tv show, obvious, theme song for "Dukes of Hazzard" the tv show. Do you see the theme haha)

Two things that are true about Jude Wilson is that she loves all her genres of country music and she loves Oklahoma. So the songs that I actually think she might pick are Tulsa Time by Don Williams—🎵 livin' on tulsa tiiimee, livin' on tulsa tiimee. well you know i've been through when i set my watch back to it, livin on tulsa timee 🎵—or East Bound and Down by Jerry Reed—🎵 east bound and dooown, loaded up and truckin' a-we gon do what they say caint be done. we've got a long way to go and a short time to get there, east bound and down watch ol' bandit run 🎵. The last one especially if I actually name her car "Bandit" but I haven't decided it yet. My Way by Frank Sinatra probably makes an appearance at some point in her career, but it's triggered by a specific event that I'm not ready to share yet 🤫

Of course, she loves other genres of music. But I have yet to decide the extent of government censorship in the Judeverse, so I don't know what she would be allowed to play yet.

That time Ms. Marvel fought against Gentrification

One element that I've always loved about the Super Famous arc of G. Willow Wilson's run on Ms. Marvel is that it features one of the most inventive & realistic villain plans in recent comic book memory!

Specifically, Kamala Khan discovers that a mysterious real-estate company named "Hope Yards Development and Relocation Association" has not only been using her likeness without her permission to promote their gentrification redevelopment plans in Jersey City, but that there’s also something far more sinister about this new real-estate company than just being your average bloodsucking redevelopment corporation. In addition to the company's security guards possessing electric batons and literal spy drones, Hope Yards sells beverages containing mind-controlling nanites in order to further coerce customers into buying real-estate within majority-minority neighborhoods. Halfway through the storyline, Hope Yards is revealed to actually a secret front for the Neo-Nazi supervillain organization HYDRA, with it’s CEO Chuck Worthy answering directly to long-time Captain America antagonist Dr. Faustus!

When I first read this arc of Ms. Marvel several years ago, I immediately recognized this plotline to be a stroke of genius! Not only does HYDRA disguising themselves as a real-estate company allow for their evil schemes to go relatively unnoticed under the veil of plausible deniability, but utilizing gentrification actually makes a lot of sense for a Neo-Nazi terrorist group like HYDRA. It effectively serves as a “divide-and-conquer” method designed to further marginalize minority communities and reinforce hierarchies and systems of upper-class white supremacy. This is sadly reflective of the real-world negative impacts that gentrification continues to inflict upon minority groups in the U.S. to this very day.

Furthermore, HYDRA's co-opting Ms. Marvel’s face for their advertising campaign provides them perfect scapegoat for their victims to direct their anger towards instead, taking advantage of Kamala’s newfound fame as Jersey City’s resident superhero & Avenger teammate to turn the public against her!

In large measure, the Super Famous arc of Ms. Marvel contains one of the most clever & topical supervillain plans I’ve encountered in a superhero comic! Definite kudos to the creative team!

midnight brainrot… i am thinking about wilson. about when he tells house during “the c-word” that he always thought he’d have a wife and kids around him when he was dying. about how he probably wanted that— or at least he thought he did— for a while. about how, if he had gotten that, he probably would have ended up feeling like he didn’t deserve to be a father. like he shouldn’t be a father. he pays three alimonies because no matter what, he ends up ‘ruining’ every relationship he puts time and feelings into. he carries guilt and blame for how danny ended up because he was ‘too selfish’ to answer the phone instead of studying for an exam. he probably spends the rest of his life haunted by the question, “am i my brother’s keeper?”. he IS truly haunted by that little eight year old cancer patient who was supposed to survive, but didn’t. he’s an oncologist. he is supposed to help people, to ‘save’ them. and yet he spends his time off the clock ruining his relationships with the people he loves most, and then spends his working hours trying to atone for it somehow with his patients. any child of his… i think that wilson would, selfishly, want to at least try forming a bond. maybe it could be his second chance. another way to atone for his mistakes with danny, with julie or sam or bonnie. but i think that he would also know deep down and without a doubt that eventually, he would just ruin them, too.

Song Review: moe. - “Ups and Downs”

Part ballad, part thrasher, “Ups and Downs” finds moe. borrowing from “Super Freak” and “Throwing Stones” to preview its forthcoming album.

Eclectic in the extreme, moe. is one of a small number of bands that could meld riffs from Rick James (bass) and the Grateful Dead (guitar) into a tender, balladic story song about a long marriage interrupted by a fiery Chuck Garvey guitar solo that has no business fitting with the harmony vocals and spare musical accompaniment on either side. But the solo does fit - like a stormy period in an otherwise-placid relationship.

There are two versions - an in-concert take recorded Aug. 1 in Colorado, and the studio track that’ll appear on Circle of Giants, arriving Jan. 31, 2025. The former is imperfect, with less-than-smooth vocals but a longer, more-spontaneous delivery than its pristine studio counterpart.

Both have their place as Rob Derhak has written a strong, introspective song from a perspective only age can provide.

okay but it would be kind of wack to have wilson and hawkeye work at the same hospital 💀 because why would he fit so well at princeton plainsboro and like i think he’d get along okay with wilson considering wilson is friends with house im sure he could handle hawkeye if it came down to it

i think bobby might know them tangentially through bringing people to the hospital after accidents and such (but like not very well since they aren’t ER doctors)

tbh cruise wouldn’t know ANY of them he’d be too busy working at like JFK (his dream job as air traffic controller ofc)

i feel like peter and chuck might also get to know each other through school and work (let’s just say peter somehow found his way from ww2 germany to like 90s/00s america, just for arguments sake) and they’d make like an interesting duo because i think chuck is like a career go getter and peter is just working to pay the bills so he can enjoy life but they both still find ways to like have fun together
