Carlos believed that the glances he sent your way were discreet. But Andros had noticed the way his eyes drifted towards you more than once in the past hour. He looked over his shoulder, observing you for a moment as you studied at another table.

"Who is she?" He asked, turning to Carlos.

"No one." He quickly replied.

"That's Y/N." Ashley answered. "Carlos has had a crush on her for as long as I can remember." Andros nodded and her eyes moved to Carlos. "You should talk to her."

T.J. and Cassie shared amused glances. It was a recurring conversation between Ashley and Carlos as the Yellow Ranger tried to convince him to ask you on a date, but Carlos was always keen to drop the subject.

"I can't."

"You mean, you won't." Ashley corrected.

"I don't want to, okay?" Carlos grew frustrated with the blonde, looking at the table with sudden interest.

"Maybe you should -" Cassie began to tell Ashley to drop the subject but the Yellow Ranger got out of her seat. "Where are you going?"

Carlos lifted his gaze, following Ashley as she walked away. "Wait a minute...is she - she wouldn't."

"She is." T.J. said when Ashley stood at your table, introducing herself.

To his surprise you were smiling as you chatted to the Yellow Ranger who was beaming back as she replied, and Carlos sat stiffly in his chair when he realised you were heading straight for their table. "Oh no. Oh, no, no, no."

Carlos observed as Ashley spoke to you, trying to read her lips, but the blonde moved so her back was to the group.

T.J. exhaled, "Tough break." He clapped a hand on his shoulder and Carlos sent him an aggravated glance before looking at Ashley.

T.J. chuckled. "Good luck." He nodded to Andros and Cassie who followed him when he left and Cassie sent the Black Ranger a reassuring smile as she left him to face Ashely who sparked a conversation between him and the person he found himself unable to form a coherent sentence around.

"You remember Carlos, right?"

"Yeah, of course." You replied. "How are you?"

Carlos swallowed thickly, clearing his throat, finding the courage to speak when Ashley sent him a stern look. "Fine. And you?"

Before you could respond Ashley feigned an expression of regret, "I better go see where the others went. Take a seat, Y/N." She walked away and you bit the inside of your cheek, reaching the same conclusion Carlos did. She was setting you up.

"You don't mind, do you?"

His eyes widened, and he shook his head, "No, of course not." He pulled a chair back and you smiled gratefully as you sat down.

"I haven't seen you around so often. Ashley mentioned you had found jobs." You spoke up after a few moments, sending him a sheepish smile.

Knowing that Ashley had covered the fact that their 'job' was actually protecting the galaxy, he merely nodded his head, naming the first job that came to mind. "I wait tables."

"Must be more exciting than washing dishes at the diner. I'm officially a member of the pirate crew two streets over."

Carlos began to grin at the thought of you wearing the pirate uniform, and you shook your head when you saw his grin, laughing together.

Adele approached the table, asking if you wanted anything and you looked at Carlos before looking around the Surf Spot, seeing his friends had vanished.

He cleared his throat, drawing your gaze, "I-I could eat. Do you want to stay for lunch?"

You sent him a smile, "Sure."

Adele took your orders and you set the menu aside, resting your arms on the table. "I feel I should apologize."

Carlos placed his menu on top of yours, leaning closer in intrigue.

"I told Ashley that I planned to ask you to the dance." You glanced at the table nervously, tucking your hair behind your ear as you met his gaze. "I asked if she knew if you were seeing anybody."

"No." Carlos replied, clearing his throat as he shuffled on his seat, quickly elaborating, "Seeing someone that is. No, I'm not."

You sat straighter, trying to conceal your hope that he could say yes. "Well, if you're not - if you don't have plans already - would you like to go to the dance? With me?"

Carlos smiled, nodding, "Yeah, I would. A lot actually."

You mirrored his smile, a blush appearing on your cheeks when he took your hand across the table.

"The thing is...I told Ashley that I had liked you for a while." He met your gaze and your smile grew. "I was going to ask you to the dance, but I figured you already had plans."

"I do. With you."

You took his hand in both of yours, and he sent you a toothy grin that made your heart race. Silently you both thanked Ashley, as with a little help from his friends, you both finally knew your fears weren't necessary.

With a little help from his friends, you attended the dance together, shared your first kiss on the dance floor, and officially started dating. And you owed it all to them.

Power Rangers In Space Headcanons

There's always someone on the bridge. Its part of the sleep-shifts they take. Sleep-shifting doesn't just become common but necessary, especially after Dark Spector captures Karone the second time

TJ - 29, Ashley, Cassie, Carlos - 26, Karone - 22, Zhane - 17, Andros - 16

Andros is the younger brother, not the older brother. He just gives off those vibes. He's also misremembering when Karone got taken

Andros can't sleep unless he feels safe, it's a side effect of being by himself and on the run for so long. He only feels safe around Zhane. Ashley works in a pinch, maybe Carlos, but not TJ or Cassie

On that note: If the other rangers happen to see Andros asleep, they kinda just leave him alone unless it's urgent, especially after Zhane left to go assist the remaining KO-35 survivors.

Andros doesn't like loud noises

Carlos is the team's second in command by technicality (for example: him controling V-2) but if Andros isn't there or can't lead them for whatever reason, the team defaults to T.J. as he was their Red before

T.J. had a lot of issues taking orders at first because he'd been the Red for his team before, and because Andros is so young

The team tends to forget that Andros has been fighting the war against Dark Specter since he received his morpher

Ashley really did like Andros and have a crush on him, but he's way too young for her and he's obviously head over heels for Zhane

On the note of relationships - Andros/Zhane (childhood friends to lovers), Ashley/Carlos (fake to real relationship), T.J./Cassie (slow burn)

Andros and Zhane are slow burn in the way that they met when they were small children and got together when they where teenagers

Carlos was cursing next to his ship. He’d pulled into a black market trade planet for repairs. He was also making plans to get revenge on the crazy woman who’d almost brought him down in the first place.

“Well look who it is.” Charlie had, in fact, tracked him down after dropping Marie off at a safer location. “Technically I could arrest you for vigilanteism, but I’d rather have a bit of a chat instead.”

Carlos spun around at the sound of the voice, and realization hit him. “You!” He charged forward in a fit of anger, only to find himself swept off his feet with a large gun pointed at him.

“Nice try, handsome.” Charlie grinned. “Carlos Vallerte, former In Space Black ranger, now turned bounty hunter. Let me guess, either the coalition convinced you to turn in your morpher for the ‘greater’ purpose of hunting down its enemies? Man, you sure are dumb.”

“I don’t give a shit about the Coalition or anything else as long as I’m paid!” Carlos snarled. He actually tried to grab for the gun and catch the woman by surprise, but she ended up kicking him and smacking him on the back of the head with her firearm. “Dammit!”

“Listen up, hothead,” Charlie said. She shifted the gun again. “Now it’s pointed straight at your head. I may be SPD, but I’m pretty sure I can pull off an escaping fugitive who tried to kill me defense.” She grinned widely.

“You’re crazy,” Carlos replied. Then he grinned a little. “Crazy enough to almost be my type.”

“We’ll talk when you’re not trying to bring down the Red Raiders,” Charlie replied.

“Why does SPD care anyway? Shouldn’t you be helping the coalition bring them down too?”

“First of all, SPD operates as an independent law-abiding force and owes the Coalition nothing. Second, our own investigations have revealed that ranger and villain usage of the grid over time has drained its power. The coalition is ignoring that and wants to give grid energy to any dumbass that swears fealty or falls under their control. Even if their grid energy runs out like everyone else’s, by the time that happens, they’ll have taken over everything.”

Carlos shrugged-or about as much as one could shrug with a gun pointed at him-and said, “So what? In the end, I can still get paid hunting down the coalition’s enemies.”

Charlie rolled her eyes. “You really did leave behind the boy scout, didn’t you? Listen dumbass, you might get paid for a while. Then they get tired of you, or you become a thorn in their side and they try and get rid of you. You piss off the wrong person over there, and it’s curtains for you.  Or worse , they don’t pay you at all and brainwash you into becoming their little lapdog.

Carlos glared up at Charlie. “What makes you so sure? Deep down though, he knew she had a point-several points.”

“I know I didn’t hit you on the head that hard, so you really must be that much of a dumbass,” Charlie drawled. “All the signs are there. You really think the Morphing Masters are going to bother to repair the grid when mortals have squandered it in the first place, and the Coalition alone wants to use it for their own gain? Idiot. I’d hit you again, but it might cause brain damage.”

“Hit me again, I might like it,” Carlos retorted with a wide grin.

“Stop distracting me,” Charlie replied. But there was a slight twitch in her lips, as if she wanted to laugh. “But now that our chat’s over, I’ll leave you to it. But if you go after the Red Raiders again, I will come after you.”

“You promise?” Carlos grinned wider.

“Listen pal, you stop being a thorn in the Raiders’ side and we’ll talk. Until then, stay out of the way.”

Honestly, thank you for adding the option of 'Sir' because JUST 'Daddy' would leave this VEEEEEEEEEERY short.
