'STASIS'
gif belongs to me
There were many rooms the four Rangers had yet to explore, and Carlos and T.J. stumbled upon a heavily warded door by accident. After trying and failing to open the locks, the two Rangers walked away, more curious than ever to know what was inside the room.
Andros was walking down the hallway to the bridge with Zhane when Carlos called out to him, and the Red and Silver Rangers approached the two. Zhane rested his hands on his hips as he listened to Carlos and T.J. tell them about their discovery, glancing at Andros when he realized what room they had found and noticed his body tensing.
"It's empty." Andros walked away, entering the bridge.
"Seems like a lot of security for an empty room." Carlos looked at Zhane, seeing the grave expression he wore.
"It's best if you stay out of there."
"What's in it?" T.J. asked.
Zhane sighed, crossing his arms. "Before the destruction of our planet, Andros was engaged."
"Was?" Carlos echoed.
Zhane nodded, "She was hurt during their escape, and Andros carried her on board the ship. The stasis pod was the only way to keep her safe until he found a planet that was safe."
"Why doesn't he wake her up?" T.J. asked. "Was she a Ranger?"
Zhane shook his head, "The stasis pod is keeping her preserved. Take her out, and she could die." He explained. "She wasn't a Ranger," He paused, a smile on his lips as he recalled you betting that you could spar him to the ground. "I wish she was. Andros taught her how to defend herself. After Karone... he was always afraid to lose anyone else."
Zhane had seen Andros in the middle of the night when he believed everyone was asleep, or sneaking away unnoticed by the others, to talk to you through the stasis pod. It was a one-sided conversation, but the Red Ranger kept you informed of his adventures, and when Zhane woke up, Andros explained his reasons for keeping you asleep.
He was still searching for a planet safe enough to live on but was afraid to wake you up due to the injuries you suffered during your escape of K0-35. The Red Ranger had lost a lot during his short life, but being the last of the people who had seen you both together, the day you got engaged, Zhane knew losing you would break Andros's spirit completely.
A few weeks later, after the Rangers learned Andro's secret, Ecliptor attacked the Astro Megaship while the six Rangers fought off Batarax and Quantrons. They were overwhelmed trying to fend them off, and Ecliptor fired at the ship hovering over the planet.
Andros watched the lasers light up the sky and tried to summon his board and speak to Alpha, but the Astro Megaship wasn't responding.
"He's going to destroy the ship!" Zhane rushed to his side, watching the lasers.
The two were knocked aside by Batarax, and as he looked at the lasers intent on blowing up the ship that was losing shield power, Andros knew he had to think of something before you were destroyed forever.
There was a series of beeps before the stasis pod opened, and you took a deep breath as you looked around, slowly sitting up. Your eyebrows furrowed as you climbed out of the pod and looked around the empty room, finding the door was bent and falling to the side.
Another laser hit the ship, causing you to stumble, and you leaned against the wall, bracing for another.
"Andros."
You pushed the door aside and crawled underneath. There was smoke in the hallway, and the lights were flashing. You decided to follow the hallway and after a few minutes you reached the bridge. Alpha was trying to contact the Rangers as another explosion rocked the ship, and you stared at the robot, tilting your head.
"Where is Andros?"
Alpha turned, "Ooh, you're awake!"
"Where is Andros?" You repeated, approaching the robot.
"He is fighting Batarax with the other Rangers." Alpha managed to get the screen working long enough for you to see Andros and Zhane fighting side by side against Batarax while the other Rangers fended off Quantrons.
An explosion shook the ship, and you held onto the panel to avoid falling.
"We need to move before we're blown apart." You looked around the panels, recognising some of the controls, and began to steer the ship out of the way, avoiding the lasers.
You descended onto the planet, flying over the army of Quantrons, and the lasers followed you, hitting the army instead.
"Can you reach the Rangers?" You asked.
Alpha walked over to a panel on the wall, and you tilted the ship, narrowly missing the laser that hit Batarax, destroying him.
Andros and Zhane ducked out of the way but were blown away by the blast. "I didn't know Alpha could fly like that." The blond rolled onto his back, watching as the ship left the planet and took the lasers with it.
The Astro Megaship returned, chased by the lasers and the Rangers ducked for cover as the ship flew above the Quantrons, the lasers taking out the remainder of the Quantron army before disappearing again.
"Rangers, come in."
"Alpha!" Carlos grinned.
Batarax returned, larger than before, and the six Rangers called upon the Megazord to defeat the monster for the last time. As the Rangers celebrated their victory, the Megaship landed on the barren planet, and several minutes later the ramp lowered.
"Alpha?" Ashley called out as they walked towards the ship.
Andros halted in his steps when he saw you running down the ramp. Zhane grinned when he saw you were awake, and appeared to be in great health.
"Andros!"
Your voice propelled him forwards and you jumped into his embrace, burying your head in the crook of his neck. Andros held you tightly, as the Rangers kept their distance, and pulled away moments later to check you over.
"You're okay!"
"I'm fine. Thanks to you." A tear fell down your cheek when you saw his watery smile, and he placed his hand on your cheek, resting his forehead against yours.
When you pulled away, you noticed Zhane and smiled at the blond as he approached, his boots crunching the gravel beneath his feet. "Great flyin'!"
You smiled against his shoulder as he wrapped his arms around you. When you stepped away, you stood next to Andros and he took your hand with a smile, introducing you to his team.
"I can see the galaxy is in good hands."
You rested your left hand on his arm as you entered the ship, and he placed a hand over yours, his thumb toying with your engagement ring.
"It will need a lot of repairs." T.J. commented as the Rangers walked through the halls, seeing the extent of the damage.
"The warship fled, but it won't be the last we see of it." You looked at your fiancée when he turned his head, agreeing with your prediction. "Andros..." You stopped walking and the rest of his team went to check on Alpha while you remained in the hallway. "How long was I in the stasis pod?"
Andros swallowed thickly, glancing at the ground and you knew it had been a long time, more than most people were kept in stasis. "Two years. I wanted to find a safer planet. When the wall collapsed and you got injured..."
"You were afraid to wake me up."
Andros nodded, looking at the ground. You frowned at the thought of him being alone before he met his team and stepped forward, placing your left hand on his cheek and he closed his eyes when he felt the chill of the metal on his skin.
"I didn't want to lose you. Sometimes, it felt like I already did." He admitted.
You sent him a small smile when he met your gaze, "I'm here." You placed your right hand on his chest and he covered your hand with his hand, squeezing gently. "You saved me."
"I love you."
"I love you too." You closed your eyes when he wrapped his arms around you, returning the tight embrace as you let a few tears fall.
"It feels so good to hear that again." He murmured.
"You'll be hearing it a lot." You pulled back with a smirk and he chuckled, placing a hand on your cheek. "You might get tired of it."
Andros shook his head, "That's impossible."
He brought you closer and you tilted your head upward as he leaned down, closing your eyes as your lips met tenderly, slowly becoming more passionate. A tear fell down his cheek at the feeling of you in his arms again after believing he would never get the chance to. You wiped it away with your thumb as you pulled away, sending him a warm smile and reflecting the love in his eyes back to him.
You had been kept in stasis for two years, and there would be a lot to catch up on, but at that moment all that mattered was that you were finally where you belonged again - with Andros.

Imagine: Decompressing from a long day with Bridge Carson.
~~~
Each day was different even if most of your routines went uninterrupted. That was life. That was your day in Space Patrol Delta.
Activity had cooled down long enough for you to feel safe enough to leave the shared living areas. Time for yourself was essential. Healthy.
Any moment an alarm could go off. So you needed to snatch any control of your environment while you still could.
Headphones on with your choice of music, you lounged atop your bed. Just you, a puzzle game on your phone, music, and Bridge Carson reading a comic.
You couldn't quite remember your exact words to him earlier, but it was a good enough invitation.
There didn't need to be any small talk. You two were fully content to each do your own thing and share the same space. It was lovely.
Bridge didn't complain when you made a noise at the game or try speaking to you when you obviously wouldn't understand him. He did give a thumbs up every so often. In return, you did too. An acknowledgement that the other was so okay.
You were more than grateful for that. His understanding of how you needed to be thrilled you honestly.
You'd make him buttery toast for the rest of your life or take down a wave of krybots for him at that point.
No matter how your day went at least Bridge could be there. Headstands, smiles, toast, and all.
"Bridge."
He turned his head.
"You're my favorite."
Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Rito Revolto & Mordant
A mercenary for hire and his accountant who handles his space finances, meet Rito Revolto and Mordant!
Rito was hired by Count Dregon almost a year ago as an extra warrior. His ruthless fighting style, nonchalant attitude and willingness to do almost anything if it means he gets paid proved useful to the Count's cause. However, Rito defects from Dregon when it looks like the warlord will be defeated by the combined forces of the Power Rangers and the Masked Rider, meaning he wouldn't get paid anymore.
Mordant joined up with Rito a few years ago, seeing him as a steady contract that makes him money so he can maintain his cybernetics. He now makes more than enough, but sticks around because he knows Rito would make terrible financial decisions without him.
Shortly following the departure of Dex from Earth, the two are approached by Goldar as a representative of Lord Zedd and offered a deal. Destroy the Power Rangers and Zedd will give him the Power Coins as a reward. Though the Dark Specter would never, in fact, actually give up the Power Coins to a random mercenary, Rito accepts the bluff, despite Mordant's best advice.
Rito then joins up with the growing ranks of Lord Zedd (or "Edd" as he calls him), surprised to see Scorpina also among them. Once again, Mordant is stuck tagging along with his client, against his better judgement.
#rotmmpr#power rangers#mmpr#mmpr the movie#rito revolto#mordant#and they were business partners (oh my god they were business partners)#obvs rito is of no relation to rita in this universe - name's just a coincidence in this case#he's essentially lobo here. hard to kill INSANE healing factor and will quickly come back when ''killed''#he's just as goofy and stupid as in the original show but also has more of a taste for Moidah#i imagine he's got like a cockney/south london accent while mordant's got a bit of a new yorker one#also mordant's whole body aside from his head and right arm are cybernetic - he got targeted and almost killed by a space crime boss#(probably the same one scorpina stole her cursed bands from lmao - which. in case it wasn't obvious#he'd be this universe' version of scorpius from lost galaxy)
7x03 analysis part 1 — Everything Air Ops
I promised helicopters, so now we get helicopters. I want to look into how Air Operations work in the 9-1-1 universe, in comparison to its real life counterpart in this first part. Then, I will try to figure out the location and intensity of "hurricane Ethel" during the clandestine operation in the second part. And finally, I will prove how risky it is to fly a helicopter into a storm and why Tommy deserves every bit of his Medal of Valor.
Location
Real!LAFD Air Ops operate (Station 114) out of Van Nuys Airport (VNY/KVNY). It's not only one the busiest general aviation airports in the world, it's also smack dab in between major green areas of the city of LA itself.
This location makes perfect sense in real life. Air Ops might get the occasional highway car wreck or urban structural fire calls, but most of their missions still consist of wildfire suppression and rural search and rescue. Being based at Van Nuys makes sure they can respond to emergency in a timely fashion.
in the 9-1-1 universe, the LAFD Air Ops are based at "Harbor Station", or Station 217. (Harbor and 217 are the same station, Chimney especially asked if Tommy was still at the 217 in 2x14 when requesting air support, unless the 911-verse LAFD has 2 different air operation units, which I highly doubt.) Obviously it has to be at an airport, because that's where the hangers and helipads are, and going by "harbor" I can only speculate that it's in the Harbor Region of LA.
The only non-military airport in the LA Harbor Region is Long Beach Airport (LGB/KLGB), but it's quite a busy commercial airport, probably not a good one to run emergency services from. There's also the Zamperini Field (TOA/KTOA) nearby in Torrance, although not exactly inside the Harbor Region, it's coastal and close enough to the 2 LA ports I guess? Feel free to create a whole new airport using your imagination though, as you know 9-1-1 is set in an alternate universe where geography and physics work differently.
Helicopters
The LAFD Air Ops have 5 medium (FIRE 1-5) and 2 light duty (FIRE 6/7) helicopters, you've heard Tommy in 7x04. Everything applies to the real world counterpart, but the medium type that real!Air Ops operate is AgustaWestland AW139, the Italian-made medium sized twin-engine helicopter with a 5-blade main rotor primed for emergency response and off-shore oil rig transportation.
It has auto-pilot, an anti-icing system for harsh weather and even auto-hover suitable for hoist rescue missions. In a passenger transport configuration, it can carry up to 15 passengers in a 3 row seating plan. In an SAR (search and rescue) configuration though, the middle row can be removed for gurney space. It's big and powerful enough to transport multiple patients, but at the same time, light and agile enough to get into difficult terrain.
The AW139 is designed to be flown by 2 pilots, flying solo is also possible, but only under VFR (Visual Flight Rules), with an additional certification, which LAFD pilots can and do. To fly it under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules), it always requires 2 pilots according to the FAA last time I checked.
The light helicopter type real!LAFD flies is the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X, a single engine twin-blade made in Canada. It's an relatively new airframe, set to replace the aging Bell 206, which the LAFD used to operate. It's quite a bit smaller than the AW139, it can only fit 1 pilot and 4 passengers.
While it's perfectly capable of carrying a Bambi bucket to assist with aerial firefighting missions, it's mainly used as a training aircraft for new pilots and HLCO (Helicopter Coordinator) when there is a major catastrophe that requires on-the-site air traffic coordination.
These are all brand new and sophisticated aircrafts that a mere TV channel can't get their hands on without a government budget. So for 911!LAFD Air Ops, ABC went to their usual helicopter service company for prop aircrafts.
Helinet Aviation provides all sorts of helicopter services from aerial journalism, medevac, delivery to regular chartering. All the 911!Air Ops scenes in 7x03 and 7x04 are naturally filmed in the Helinet hanger, for convenience's sake, at VNY, just a runway across from real!Air Ops.
911!Air Ops
Helinet hangar Street View
I believe I've identified all the helicopters shown in 7x03 and 7x04, but let's get the 2 in the background which probably do not belong to 911!Air Ops out of the way:
N72EH, a Sikorsky S76C++, still in its Boston MedFlight livery. Sold to Helinet in 2022, possible used as a medevac vehicle currently? Unlikely to have anything to do with 911!Air Ops, probably just happened to be in the background to make it seem like there were many helicopters.
The one Tommy flies Eddit to Vegas in is N67TV, an Eurocopter AS350B2 Écureuil (aka squirrel). No fire department would ever let employees take their expensive equipment out for a joy ride so it's likely that in universe, Tommy rented it from somewhere outside of the station. IRL though, according to this forum post, it's used as a backup helicopter for all its customer news stations, but also any TV or film production purposes outside of journalism.
Now, for the one seen in the hangar, therefore explicitly belonging to 911!LAFD:
N29HD, also an AS350B2, also a news helicopter. According to this reddit comment, it used to be shared between CBS and FOX, but now it seems to be configured as a dedicated aircraft for ABC7.
The one the who cares gang stole to rescue Bobby and Athena though has a fake registration number on it:
You just have to look up Helinet's fleet, and you will see this is obviously a DHL livery, and it's quite easy to find out that this is actually:
N211FN, an AS350B1 (so an even older variant than the previous two), operated on behalf of DHL for package delivery service.
Don't get me wrong, the AStar (how the AS350 is called in the US) is a versatile and reliable aircraft. It the 4th most produced rotorcraft in the world, someone even managed to land one on top of Mount Everest. But it's kind of small? It can seat only up to 5 passengers with 1 pilot, and there is hardly room left for any gear. There is also no space for stretcher, so anyone they rescue would have to sit upright. It's just not very realistic.
I have no idea what medium duty helicopters 911!Air Ops operate, we're unlikely to see them in the future. There is this Bell 205 in 4x12 Treasure Hunt, but it clearly says L.A County Rescue on the tail.
youtube
Pilots
Real!Air Ops pilots wear beige flight suits, it's the aeromedics who wear blue, and helitac crews wear orange. I'm not complaining too much though, Tommy looks good in blue. (I think the chief pilot wears dark blue, but I'm not sure.)
Helicopter pilots in general usually wear helmets, in case a particularly strong pocket of turbulence slams you against the body of the aircraft, or a bird decide to fly through the windshield into your face, but I get that it gets in the way of the camera, so I'm just gonna enjoy Tommy's beautiful face.
Real!Air Ops pilots work on a 24/48 shift schedule just like any platoon firefighters. Due to the danger of pilot fatigue on aviation safety, they do try to limit their continuous flight time to 6 hours before taking a prolong break.
There are 5 levels of pilots: pilot I (trainee), pilot II (probational), pilot III (full pilot), pilot IV (lead pilot) and pilot V (chief pilot). The chief pilot oversees the entire Air Ops and work on a 10 hour per day, 4 days a week schedule. The rest of the pilots are put into 3 shifts, each shift with a pilot IV, 2 pilot IIIs and 2 trainees/probies, together with 4 aeromedics. (Can't find the most updated version, the lastest one I can get my hands on is from 2022, so good enough?) Therefore Tommy's Bobby would not be a captain, it would be a lead pilot.
I've already explained in detail the timeline of Tommy's career as a firefighting pilot, but here is the short version of it: Once accepted into the LAFD pilot training program, he would have to train with the LAPD for 180 hours then back to the LAFD for 200 hours, that takes around 2 years, and by then he would be a probie. After that, he would have to slowly build up flight hours then train and certify for all types of missions on the medium duty helicopter, that would take another 2-3 years, and after that he would be promoted to a pilot III, which is probably the rank he holds now.
We can see from the form Hen submitted in 7x03 that she initially asked for Lucy as their pilot, as she's forgotten that Tommy also worked there. Fortunately Chimney called Tommy, as Lucy most likely would've still been a probie if not just a trainee.
Melton
I have no idea who he is.
I can sort of see his badge says "firefighter"? At real!Air Ops, everyone wears a flight suit as uniform, so that they can hop into a chopper in an emergency. I don't know what a dude in a regular uniform with the regular LAFD patch on his arm doing there.
Tommy's arm has the Air Ops helicopter patch on it.
Real!Station 114 though do have a crash unit staffed with regular firefighters, maybe Melton is with them? But then, why is he doing with Hen's helicopter requisition?
collapses at ur doorstep after seeing pokemon art :3
what pokemon team (1-6 slots each, doesn't need to be full!!) would u assign sun & moon!!!
(i have been meaning to draw them with a clefairy/gengar, but woe, time is not limitless each day... T^T)
OOOO! The Clefairy/Gengar mix goes so well with them actually, especially with that theory that Gengar is essentially a ghost version of Clefairy. Sun and Moon match their vibes so well!
Honestly there's so many pokemon that it's a bit of a toughie to think of teams! But, imagining their teams as non-submas themed trainers and just their own goobers, I thinkkkk I'd set it up like this! ( Based off my own ooc ideas of the characters :3 )
Sun: Probably would work at a pokemon Nursery and/or focuses on doing Contests. (God I miss those-) I can't help but imagine Sun as someone with a caretaker personality, even if a little sassy, but he'd totally still be into theater no matter what universe!
Ambipom - I feel like this big ol' mon gives off goofy caretaker vibes, and with the extra set of large hands on its tails makes it extra helpful with wrangling and clean up. Plus, more hands mean more props and attacks for contests! It's definitely so playful that it can be a bit of a trouble maker, but when it's time to switch gears or follow rules, it is a stickler and can even be a little scary with how serious it becomes.
Togekiss (Raised from egg) - Okay, probably a bit of anime bias here but I love the little egg thing Togepi is and I feel like it would be perfect for Sun. Just one of the most baby pokemon around, lovely to raise, stubborn, and grows up into the most elegant thing ever. Perfect, muwah, would love to be on stage after demolishing a whole team solo with broken fairy typing.
Chimecho - Such a soothing pokemon. They help keep Sun from becoming anxious with their calm chimes and they're great at getting young pokemon to fall asleep or calm down after a tantrum. The calm to Sun's eccentric energy.
Gourgeist - Is it odd that I think this pokemon would be an amazing cook? Sun can definitely cook things for his pokemon well, but when he's overwhelmed, this buddy can whip up something delicious and even serve it with their psychic abilities to lower the workload. Generally friendly and is a little bit of a trouble maker when everyone's guard is down. Nothing dangerous, at least not on purpose, but all the kitchenware might go missing if someone forgets to say thank you.
Bellibolt - I'm still imagining Sun as an animatronic, so I feel like an electric type is just a requirement. Has the duty to be an emergency recharge, but besides that all this big guy have to do is be cute and happy. Just a gigantic stress ball that loves hugs, and Sun, pokemon, kids, and contest judges alike all love it. Just a silly chill lil guy.
Cinccino - This pokemon is well known for its cleaning habits. So besides being adorable and fluffy - a great cuddle buddy - they help keep the space nice and tidy. Cleanliness is just a must for Sun. Also, I love chinchillas and its a must to have one. It's cuteness and elegance makes it a fierce competitor during competitions but honestly a terrible battler; more worried about keeping itself clean and pretty instead of winning.
Moon: Possibly works as a pokemon ranger (based off the side games) and is a ace trainer that is reformed off an evil team. Idk, my views of his personality is very similar to Silver and well, we know his history with Team Rocket- anyways, I think having a similar background would make him very serious about battle and rescuing others/pokemon.
Banette - Likely to have been with Moon as his first pokemon. Banette's pokedex entries consider it as a vengeful abandoned doll, and seeing it's a tragic but powerful pokemon, I feel like it would be serious but clingy in the quietest ways. It will help Moon in any way it can as Moon adopted it from an evil team and showed it true care, but it does not like any other pokemon getting attention, giving death glares and silently pulling off nasty tricks when no one is looking. Their strong bond makes mega evolving effective in a pinch. (Lets just assume they got the stone somehow its okay bbg)
Ferrothorn - Ignore its stats, this gigantic thing should really be a tank and I am wishing it as one. They're spikey but have a caring nature, and with the way it clings to ceilings or raises its body above things with its noodle legs, it makes it very maneuverable and helpful when it comes to traversing harsh locations. It craves affection, so give em a good pat and they'll love you forever.
Scolipede - Poison Horse. I love it, and it can be amazing in battle if you do the right things. I'm not the best at forming a competitive team, but narrative wise, its thick exoskeleton makes it very durable, its ability to curl up and roll makes it very fast, and it's a great buddy to help move from place to place fast, even when holding 2 people on its back. Probably the most stubborn and self important of the group.
Inteleon - It may be ehhhh to put a starter on this list, but I feel like Inteleon is a mon that would be great in the ranger line of work. A water type is a must for handling fires and to douse any moody flare ups within a group. Plus, water is a must for all life, so it creates an emergency water source. It has great sight from a distance and probably would act more like a scout that will climb up from high areas and leap between large gaps to find whatever it is they're after today. Likes to go at things alone but only wants to provide as much as it possibly can.
Heliolisk - This pokemon is so cool and I don't see enough of it! Definitely a bit of a trouble maker with a childish attitude outside of work. Again, imagining Moon still as an animatronic in this universe, the necessity of having an emergency charge from an electric type seems like a must. It also is great as an emergency light source by holding in an electrical charge in its mouth/hands. However, the dry skin of this pokemon makes it durable, able to withstand extreme heat, and as a lizard it should totally be able to stick to walls, which makes it great for caves or for being a pokemon to rely on during sticky situations. (Budum-tissss) I always forget it's not a ground type, but in my heart it is.
Cofagrigus - This mon scares me so much that I love it. Just a creepy design, but also the amount of move sets and strategies this one pokemon can do is insane. IDK jack about competitive pokemon, but even I know that this is a pokemon to be weary of to go against. This'll probably be Moon's main battle pokemon, where his strategies during a full pokemon battle against a trainer would revolve around Cofagrigus. In reality though, this Cofagrigus is the most motherly towards the team and wrangles everyone into being orderly and just is the general problem solver with interpersonal problems.
If i'm honest, a lot of this list can be exchanged with different pokemon. I mostly chose these based off vibe and some based off typing, but there's probably better pokemon for them out there lol
Thank you for asking though! It was very fun to think about and I love to yap :3333
#Hehehe#Ask LD#yapping#dca community#dca fandom#Pokemon teams#pokemon#I'm wondering what everyone else thinks >:3#Honestly Dewpider/Araquanid was an option I feel like they'd be such a helpful goober#IK you said it didn't haveee to be full teams#But I couldn't help it lololol#Realistically I can see Sun with only 3-4 pokemon#Moon would definitely need a full team though for his work#Probably would have multiple team set ups depending on the job o3o#mutuals
Dear Gale,
I was so pleased to receive a response to my letter and to know the mail carrier issue has been resolved. I'll admit, it was rather intriguing to find out your favorite book. I would never have guessed! I'd really like to hear more about your recommendations for reading material; just to help the long nights pass a little quicker.
My interest was particularly piqued by your thoughts on Druidic magic and Necromancy. I never took you as one to "play in the dirt", for lack of a better phrase, though I'm happy to know you're broadening your magical horizons. One should always keep an open mind when it comes to trying new things, don't you agree?
As for Necromancy, I have to say I understand where you're coming from. I, personally, am of the opinion that it's an abhorrent disrespect for the dead, who should lie resting; not ripped from the Fugue Planes to be used as canon fodder. While practical - and admittedly, wildly powerful - I find the act morally reprehensible. Ah, but I shouldn't press the matter any further. I don't want to risk a nasty disagreement.
I also would like to remind you that you needn't feel rushed to answer my letters. I understand you're a busy man (I can't imagine your studies offer much time for chatting with a pen pal) and have no qualms with waiting for your response.
With that, I feel I should end this now. Please give Tara my best and the dried pigeon jerky I've sent alongside this letter, should make for an excellent snack! One more reminder to please take care of yourself, my friend. One cannot be the most powerful Wizard in all the Sword Coast if one is not properly maintained.
With love,
~Arcane
Dear Arcane,
Again, truly a pleasure to hear from you, my good friend. And I can say Tara more than enjoys the jerky sent in your letter…perhaps a little too much, compared to the food I offer her. Besides that, it brings me boundless joy to hear of your request for other options related to literature. Perhaps a time can be set up for us to meet up and speak our thoughts on books we enjoy? It would be quite enticing, I do admit, but only if you’re willing to accept my offer. I assure you, I’m more than happy to talk in a long distance.
As for the situation related to Necromancy, I appreciate the decision to not further delve into it. I’d rather not disturb the fine balance with someone I hold to my heart and cherish deeply…well, aside from my mother and my other companions. However, we can take arguments where it’s due, since both you and I are more than entitled to our opinions in…well, any space. Especially in the corner of magic. But, of course, that’s just due to how I feel about it.
But, yes, I am willing to broaden my horizons for magic. Even if it means I “play in the dirt” with druids and rangers and such. Magic is a wonderful thing, like…a melody, a song. Whether it be a shabby tune from a drunken fool off the street, a flow of notes from an inn like the Yawning Portal, or a harmony from…perhaps, a companion I hold close to. I spoke of her a smidge in our last letter…but truthfully, I never introduced her, did I? Well, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind, so in that case…her name is Bella. She’s…last time I checked, a paladin, oathbroken. But by the gods, could she play a melody that kept me on my heels. Perhaps she was a bard before our first encounter? I’ll have to ask her when I get the chance, but in the mean time, this is all I can explain. Both from my knowledge, and that I wouldn’t think she’d enjoy her business being told to someone that while I write to, she has yet to know about. Knowing you though, I’m certain you’ll be in her good graces. But…be prepared for her…pet? Let’s just say that, for now.
For being busy, I understand that I do not have to rush my letters. Frankly, the only thing I rush is reading due to how much knowledge I wish to take in. But I’m positive I have time for you whenever needed. Whether it simply be these letters, like now, or meeting up with me wherever we may be. I may be a man of a tight schedule, but never too tight for my closest people. And, yes, I swear with all my heart I will take care of myself, as you should do the same. It would be frightening to hear if any bad news regarding your health or safety would be heard of.
Of course, safe travels wherever you go, and, hopefully, I’ll hear of you once more whenever you get the chance. I’m afraid Tara might attempt to scold me for using so much ink for my letters, heh…it’s not like I won’t get more, but it’s cause I use so much in a day that I most likely will have bought out most of it.
Sincerely,
—Gale
(P.S. There’s a couple of quills of mine, good quality at that, that I figured you’d enjoy to use. Unfortunately I can’t send any more of them since…well, most of them are now in your possession. But do, deeply, enjoy them.)
Disney (Almost) Made an Anniversary Kamen Rider
You remember during the 2000s where Disney owned Power Rangers? It wasn't a bad era in terms of what was put out, but maybe I'm bias because I grew up with it. Running from Ninja Storm to RPM, Disney had a troubling run with the show - the quality was good for a kid's show, but Disney did not like making it. It's not a secret that they were trying to bury Power Rangers, the show only continuing after RPM because it was bought back by Saban. It doesn't feel like a coincidence they sold back Power Rangers less than a year after buying Marvel Entertainment.
And ever since, Disney has had no interest in Tokusatsu as a genre. You could argue the closest they ever came was Mech-X4, a Disney XD show about a kid controlling a giant robot to save his town.
Then rolls around the 100th anniversary. Tokusatsu is still as popular as ever in Japan and, while Super Sentai isn't as popular as it used to be, Kamen Rider has been going strong ever since it's revival in the Heisei Era.
If Disney wanna make money in Tokusatsu, it makes sense to put it in Kamen Rider.
This is the Imagination Belt. It was released last month and, honestly, I'm glad I got back into Kamen Rider in time to see the strangest anniversary celebration yet. It was produced by Bandai and I won't pretend this is officially a Kamen Rider product - it's made by the same company, but that's not enough to call it that.
But it sure takes a lot of the beats!
As a person who has previously rambled about a non-existent canon surrounding a Sonic Screwdriver toy, I really appreciate that this gives me more to talk about inherently. Kamen Rider historically has been getting more and more Riders with every era of the show and this toy is no different - ten different Disney icons made into marketable... keys... how did they not do Sora-
Nevermind, I'm glad they didn't.
The designs aren't great, I won't pretend they are, if you're a fan of Kamen Rider. It's clear the character designs were leaning closer to Kingdom Hearts (or even Spectrobes, if you remember that), so it's hard to judge them in terms of your typical Tokusatsu outfit. That being said, the consistency of the goggles does imply something about this uniform - if it's as important as the belt to be included on everyone, that's notable.
There's also a notable detail with the Imagination Belt itself - the Keys. Half of them are Gold, half of them are Silver, inherently splitting the team of Riders (Imaginators? Imagineers? Disney Adults?) in half. It implies simply that the goals of all the Riders don't align, that perhaps they're in a battle.
The Character Selection is also brought to mind. I imagine it's based on multiple factors, like popularity in that area and inclusion of specific brands... but that doesn't stop them being weird. Including specific representatives for Marvel, Lucasfilms and Pixar absolutely make sense - the choice of Woody is textbook. Iron Man equally makes sense, but the design has him look (personally) more like Lightning McQueen, which may just be a flaw of similar colour schemes.
But Grogu? Ya coulda picked anyone from Star Wars and... I get that The Mandalorian is probably the best received in pop culture... but the implications that he's getting his powers from a space baby is quite funny.
NOTE: The specific split of teams is Gold Keys belong to Mickey, Minnie, Simba, Woody and Iron Man - Silver Keys belong to Snow White, Moana, Tiana, Elsa and Grogu.
youtube
They also have built in power-up modes, specifically "Full Max" which seems to grant a power boost based on related characters - Mickey's Full Max gets help from Donald, Goofy and Pluto, meanwhile Simba has Timon and Pumbaa for example. But in your typical Tokusatsu, if your power-up involves other iconography, that tends to involve beating monsters. Are the monsters for "Imagination Belt" other Disney characters? Were Donald and Goofy evil beasts that had to be defeated? Did Woody have to beat Buzz Lightyear and the other Toys-Turned-Monsters? Minnie's Full Max is her with a cat, did Minnie Mouse have to fight a CAT?!
But onto the Lore Implications...
There's easily enough here to build an insane fanfiction, as you're about to see, but this does continue a point that I really appreciate about toys - kids, collectibles, whatever you want. You can tell your own story and it's not even difficult. Everyone has inherent creativity and, given a small amount of time, you can make any story out of any objects.
Case in point...
"Imagination Belt", to me, feels like Ryuki or Geats - it is a Rider War (Disney Adult War) where these two factions of "heroes" are fighting. It's probably against each other, Gold vs Silver, but you can imagine there are other monsters in between as your usual plot hooks.
The "Riders" of this world likely have their powers from raw imagination - passion for something that manifests in the Keys, giving them power in return. If the imagination becomes twisted.
Based on appearances, the Iron Man and Grogu Riders probably are leading both teams, the conflict started by the both of them and spiraling from there. Mickey is the obvious protagonist, Grogu looks like he'd make a good rival to keep the protagonist moving forward.
And there may be only ten official keys but Disney is an all-consuming black hole of creativity. There could be a lot more and you know it.
Anagam x Flora
I know you are not familiar with Forest Punk. So either of these: Cottage Core/Goblin Core/ Lagenlook.
A healer but never have the incompatible of healing magic, imagine Seunghyeon Kang from Life of a Quack Healer (if you read the manhwa). Excellent speedster and a fairy animal ranger, a guardian of fairy animals and nature (idea come from Pokémon Ranger)
When you requested this, I already had a Flora x Anagan daughter in the works, so I finished her and put her here, since @lonelybiscuits said they’d want to see her, so it’s two sisters.
This is Bryony Hiedra! I didn’t really understand what the manga you were talking about was, but as far as I can tell, you would like her to be a healer, but with no healing magic. So she’s training as herbal healer with her mom. Which is good, because her sister can get into all kinds of scrapes, so having someone with healing expertise around can be useful.
She’s a witch, the Witch of the Untameable Wild, and she has nature powers like her mother, but far wilder. Her magic is a lot closer to Diana’s in season 4, when she takes over the city with vines. Call it an effect of Anagan’s dark magic. She’s an absolute sweetheart, but people making unpleasant remarks about her family really rubs her the wrong way, and then someone may get hit with a tree.
She has super-speed, and she’s almost as fast as her father, but she prefers her nature magic. Super speed makes her feel a little dizzy. She’s been made one of the new keepers of the Alfea Natural Park, despite being a witch. She showed the best relationship with nature and fairy animals, and so the discriminatory barrier just had to deal with it. (Once her sister had finished yelling about the situation to Faragonda, there wasn’t much choice.)
And here’s her sister! Willow Hiedra! She’s a year younger than Bryony, and she’s got a fierce, loud personality you can hear from space. She’s a fairy, but she’s transformed about three times so far in her life. She’s even faster than her father, and she leans fully into physical combat, so when it came time to head to Magix after her sister, she marched right into Red Fountain and said this was her school, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. The school doesn’t admit girls, but after she owned Codatorta’s best students in combat, they had to rethink that policy. Since then, she’s got her own wind rider, a dragon, and a kickass pair of thorn whips. And she doesn’t wear the uniform, because she has her own clothes, thanks, and she fights better without a massive impractical cape weighing her down.
She’s way too up for a fight, and Bryony’s lost count of the times she’s had to patch her sister up after she underestimated a squad of the best Specialists in school. Anagan and Flora have been to Saladin’s office so many times…
Willow technically has magic, but it takes far more after her father, so she fits in just fine at Red Fountain’s wizard classes. Her only nature magic is thorns. Lots of thorns. She can grow roses, but she’s growing them for the thorns.
Her parents both have legacies, and she’s determined to leave a bigger mark than either of them, and honestly, she’s on her way.
Nobody actually knows what she’s the fairy of, since she doesn’t transform, but she always replies with ‘I’m the Fairy of Mind Your Own Goddamn Business’. Then maybe some…choice words.
Thanks for the request!
'WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS'
gif belongs to me
Carlos believed that the glances he sent your way were discreet. But Andros had noticed the way his eyes drifted towards you more than once in the past hour. He looked over his shoulder, observing you for a moment as you studied at another table.
"Who is she?" He asked, turning to Carlos.
"No one." He quickly replied.
"That's Y/N." Ashley answered. "Carlos has had a crush on her for as long as I can remember." Andros nodded and her eyes moved to Carlos. "You should talk to her."
T.J. and Cassie shared amused glances. It was a recurring conversation between Ashley and Carlos as the Yellow Ranger tried to convince him to ask you on a date, but Carlos was always keen to drop the subject.
"I can't."
"You mean, you won't." Ashley corrected.
"I don't want to, okay?" Carlos grew frustrated with the blonde, looking at the table with sudden interest.
"Maybe you should -" Cassie began to tell Ashley to drop the subject but the Yellow Ranger got out of her seat. "Where are you going?"
Carlos lifted his gaze, following Ashley as she walked away. "Wait a minute...is she - she wouldn't."
"She is." T.J. said when Ashley stood at your table, introducing herself.
To his surprise you were smiling as you chatted to the Yellow Ranger who was beaming back as she replied, and Carlos sat stiffly in his chair when he realised you were heading straight for their table. "Oh no. Oh, no, no, no."
Carlos observed as Ashley spoke to you, trying to read her lips, but the blonde moved so her back was to the group.
T.J. exhaled, "Tough break." He clapped a hand on his shoulder and Carlos sent him an aggravated glance before looking at Ashley.
T.J. chuckled. "Good luck." He nodded to Andros and Cassie who followed him when he left and Cassie sent the Black Ranger a reassuring smile as she left him to face Ashely who sparked a conversation between him and the person he found himself unable to form a coherent sentence around.
"You remember Carlos, right?"
"Yeah, of course." You replied. "How are you?"
Carlos swallowed thickly, clearing his throat, finding the courage to speak when Ashley sent him a stern look. "Fine. And you?"
Before you could respond Ashley feigned an expression of regret, "I better go see where the others went. Take a seat, Y/N." She walked away and you bit the inside of your cheek, reaching the same conclusion Carlos did. She was setting you up.
"You don't mind, do you?"
His eyes widened, and he shook his head, "No, of course not." He pulled a chair back and you smiled gratefully as you sat down.
"I haven't seen you around so often. Ashley mentioned you had found jobs." You spoke up after a few moments, sending him a sheepish smile.
Knowing that Ashley had covered the fact that their 'job' was actually protecting the galaxy, he merely nodded his head, naming the first job that came to mind. "I wait tables."
"Must be more exciting than washing dishes at the diner. I'm officially a member of the pirate crew two streets over."
Carlos began to grin at the thought of you wearing the pirate uniform, and you shook your head when you saw his grin, laughing together.
Adele approached the table, asking if you wanted anything and you looked at Carlos before looking around the Surf Spot, seeing his friends had vanished.
He cleared his throat, drawing your gaze, "I-I could eat. Do you want to stay for lunch?"
You sent him a smile, "Sure."
Adele took your orders and you set the menu aside, resting your arms on the table. "I feel I should apologize."
Carlos placed his menu on top of yours, leaning closer in intrigue.
"I told Ashley that I planned to ask you to the dance." You glanced at the table nervously, tucking your hair behind your ear as you met his gaze. "I asked if she knew if you were seeing anybody."
"No." Carlos replied, clearing his throat as he shuffled on his seat, quickly elaborating, "Seeing someone that is. No, I'm not."
You sat straighter, trying to conceal your hope that he could say yes. "Well, if you're not - if you don't have plans already - would you like to go to the dance? With me?"
Carlos smiled, nodding, "Yeah, I would. A lot actually."
You mirrored his smile, a blush appearing on your cheeks when he took your hand across the table.
"The thing is...I told Ashley that I had liked you for a while." He met your gaze and your smile grew. "I was going to ask you to the dance, but I figured you already had plans."
"I do. With you."
You took his hand in both of yours, and he sent you a toothy grin that made your heart race. Silently you both thanked Ashley, as with a little help from his friends, you both finally knew your fears weren't necessary.
With a little help from his friends, you attended the dance together, shared your first kiss on the dance floor, and officially started dating. And you owed it all to them.
The whole sentiment on Tokusatsu holding power rangers back is so weird to me considering how in past seasons like In Space and RPM etc they were able to actually you know...take the elements from the counterparts and make something new.
I think one of the main problems is how adaptions can be treated by who's in charge of them. Like take ToQger for example, they say trains aren't "marketable" overseas but make them appeal to people, use the themes of imagination and come up with cool concepts for the adaption to actually get the hype going.
Surface level thinking, got to get deep in and try to brainstorm more to make things more successful.
Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Dr. Finster & Lord Zedd (Incomplete)
When the Rangers freed Tommy from Rita's control, the shadow desperately seized the body of Dr. Finster, whose biology knowledge she'd been using to create monsters since manipulating him into releasing her.
With him, she casts a ritual to restore her master, Lord Zedd, from the remaining seventh shard of the original Zeo Crystal the Power Coins were forged from.
She is able to restore him, but at the cost of herself, as the incomplete Dark Specter forcefully absorbs her back into himself directly from Dr. Finster's body. Leaving the man exhausted, weakened.
Incomplete as he may be, Zedd's cunning and tactical mind from the war 10,000 years ago remains intact, and he enlists Dr. Finster to fetch him Goldar and his followers. They have work to be done.
#rotmmpr#power rangers#mmpr#happy power rangers day here's my sad grandpa and the ancient evil haunting him!!#these were fairly quick bc i knew what i wanted to do w zedd's incomplete form + finster was just an edit to the existing art#to make him look ragged and exhausted#i imagine that haggard as he is now - and still making monsters and stuff for zedd - he's plannin his own shit to beat the big guy#he's tired and doesn't care anymore - just wants to stop working for ancient evil shadows that wanna take over the universe#and go back to studying weird space rocks and reading textbooks#zedd-wise i wanted him to look like he was kind of like. emerging from a crack in space - which works well w the Z motif lmao#his zeo crystal shard is a lot smaller than the power coins but it holds like A LOT of energy in it#its like the odd keystone to his spiritomb#anyway. he can briefly reach out and grab things but for the most part he's just a creepy floating face - like an inverse of zordon#that's definitely on purpose - family resemblance and all
Hey hey hey! What’s Ikoni like?
- @bb-baker
Apologies for taking a bit of time with this, I ended up having a lot to think about myself. Especially in relations to your own potential experiences at Blueberry Academy.
One of the first things that I think people will see is that Ikoni has become, in many ways, a home for a great many cultures. Over the past century or so we've seen a large influx of immigrants from regions like Kanto, Johto, Unova, Alola, Galar, and so on. So there's a lot of different cultural ideas wrapped up in the identity of someone born and raised here. My own home town, Hestia, was first built by immigrants all the way from Kalos and you can still see that in our older buildings.
Underlying all of that is a culture of openness and harmony with the world that was the foundation of the Native peoples who have lived here for thousands of years. With a lot of it centering around our own region's local guardian, Manafyfe, who is still considered the symbol of our home. Many legends and myths center on how she guided the ancient people to settle this land, taught them how to prosper and grow with the pokemon in our region. Most of all she is credited to guiding those native people and refugees fleeing war and famine to find a way for us all to live together in peace. A peace that led to the modern region of Ikoni today.
She is "The Spirit of Cooperation!" being one of the ways I've heard her described. That spirit of cooperation can be credited to how readily our region seems to take in people from across the world, as well as in how we work and live with the pokemon around us. There are many wildlife refuges and rescue centers, protected wild spaces, and one of the most respected professions one can have here is being a Pokemon Ranger. Which I think says a lot about how well we live with the wild pokemon right next door to us.
If there is a source of potential problems, it's that there's a lot of different ideas on how Ikoni takes those ideals going forward. For example we have a rather healthy tech industry through Ivory Tower Industries which every day is putting out new standards of technology in the healthcare and pokecare industries, as well as in eco-friendly transportation and power options. It would be fair to point out that my own Childcare Center is 100% emissions free due to Ivory Tower wind and solar based options. But with that drive for progress comes a conversation about what of our history is meant to be preserved so that we can keep drawing upon inspiration for that future. There have been cases of old historical sites being bulldozed to make way for new power centers, expanded housing, and renovations to the old rail system that stretches over the region. There are protests against and for such actions that so far have remained civil enough to not concern us in Hestia town at least.
But I think we'll get through it all, the conversation is on going and I imagine that we'll keep to that "Spirit of Cooperation" that has served us all so well. Also if you would like to hear another's insight into our region, I'd recommend you reach out to my friend @ikoninovelist. She'll probably write a novella's worth of thoughts for you if you find yourself still curious.
#pkmn irl#pokemon irl#askbox#///Also Ikoninovelist is the creator of the region and my darling spouse#///So you should really go ask her more about it than her chief goober if you want the DEEP lore.
Open tag to anyone! Little peak at next chapter of Chasing Your Star until I Find Home
Sam nodded as Seren jumped down into a different section, his eyes focused on the great ship resting against it’s launch bay. She felt his sadness, it was something she’d felt too upon seeing the massive ship and all it’s wasted potential. She heard him talking to himself above her as she dug out the cells from the sand. ”Where were you meant to go baby and why didn’t you get there?” Seren came back to find Ren had her arm around Sam’s waist. It was obviously he was trying to hide it, but seeing that ship had hit him hard. Space flight for him had been how he’d escaped his father, how he’d made mistakes, yes, but also had through being a ace pilot, become a Ranger and had Cora. Space flight, the stars, were everything to him. So to see a colony ship with so much potential left to rot, must have hurt. Seren was glad Ren was there to comfort him, because she knew if he was alone, the temptation to do the same would have been too much to resist. She steadied herself against the strong emotions coming off the group and made her way to the lift. It was to be expected she reminded herself and she knew it was going to get worse. ”Got the cells, only need one to power the lift, but always good to have a spare in case something is different down there. Wait here whilst I pop one into the socket.” Her voice made Sam snap out of his melancholy and the others stop what they were investigating to wait for her at the lift, the obvious curiosity and worry showing through the way they fidgeted with their suits and gear. Once it was powered she joined them as the lift doors opened. The journey was silent as they descended, the doors opening onto a long forgotten lobby of the launch center. Sam had recovered somewhat, thanks to her counterpart and he chuckled as he saw the leaflets strewn around. But Seren knew it was a bluff to hide his churning thoughts. ”Pre flight check. Remember no agricultural products past here. And hit up the Duty Free first.” ”Sam!! I don’t think that’s very appropriate, do you?” Sarah tutted as she walked past him, running a finger over the dust covered table. Barrett seemed quiet, taking it all in as he looked around. He picked up an old manual, flipping through it’s dirty pages. ”Crew preparation area. I cant imagine how tense and chaotic it must have been.” ”Yeah…” Sam winced and joined Barrett, looking over his shoulder at the document. “Maybe... we should take some of these things, for posterity, y'know.” ”They could be donated to New Homestead’s museum after we’ve looked them over. Maurice I'm sure would love to add them to the Earth collection.” Sarah tucked a leaflet into her suit pocket as both Sam and Barrett nodded in agreement. Seren smiled at the thought. She’d never thought to do that. Perhaps in a future verse she would.
