We wish for you a future full of health, rest, and healing! We hope those who surround you will treat you with kindness, and that you are able to access the accommodations you need in order to live your best lives.
To those who have to practice extreme caution or avoid doing activities they love due to their weak bones, we want you to know that your heartache is valid and worth expressing! It’s not fair that some folks end up or are born with disabilities that prevent them from achieving their dreams or pursuing their passions. We want to support and uplift you however we can, and encourage you to try and live a full and happy life despite your limitations!
To those who have broken bones more than once in the past and live in fear of breaking another bone in the future, our heart and thoughts go out to you! Breaking or fracturing a bone can be a terrifying, incredibly painful experience. If you are currently healing from a broken bone, we wish you a swift, painless recovery! Please don’t push yourself, and try to take it easy!
To those who are unable to afford treatment for their weak bones, we genuinely feel for you! It is becoming more and more expensive to be disabled, and working with insurance and hospital billing departments is often a nightmare. We hope that your situation will change in the future, and that soon you will be able to access the care you need in order to take care of yourself properly!
To those whose system formed due to trauma from their weak bones, be it from breaks or fractures, facing harassment and bullying, or dealing with medical trauma/abuse, we want you to know that yes, your trauma is valid and it was enough. No one should have to go through what you’ve been through, and you deserve to recover with plenty of love, self-compassion, and self-acceptance along the way!
This disability pride month, remember that if you have weak or fragile bones, you are a welcome, integral, and cherished part of the disabled community! You are allowed to take up space here, and are encouraged to be vocal about your experiences and what you need in order to live your best lives! This didn't happen to me EXACTLY, but I DID break my ankle and after going to the hospital, they discovered that I was SEVERELY low on calcium and vitamin D, so I started taking it and a couple weeks later I noticed that my entire body didn't hurt all the time. Didn't fix everything, but boy does not having fragile bone pain all the time that feels like they are gonna break from lifting a grocery bag change a LOT.
My deepest darkest fantasy is that I collapse on the street and I am rushed to the hospital. They perform a bunch of tests and find out I am severely deficient in some kind of vitamin. Then I start taking the vitamin and I become the happiest cleverest person alive because all my problems were caused by this one deficiency

I went down a YouTube rabbit hole yesterday and learned that Etsy is completely okay with sellers listing bags of dirt, clay, soil, chalk, and other rocks and minerals specifically so people can buy and EAT THEM WITH THEIR MOUTHS. no porn or sex toys allowed, sorry, but you CAN buy a fucking... bag full of kaolin clay. and eat it. never mind the fact that there could be lead, cadmium, asbestos, bacteria, fungus, and other contaminants in there. listen to the worms in your brain that are telling you to eat dirt it's fine you'll be fine

In our fast-paced lives, we often neglect our health, and proper nutrition becomes a luxury for many. However, our well-being should never be taken lightly. Our poor lifestyle choices can lead to various deficiencies and health problems.
Among the major health issues affecting many people is calcium deficiency. Calcium is crucial for building and maintaining strong bones, teeth, as well as supporting the proper functioning of our heart, muscles, and nerves. The lack of calcium can lead to problems like osteoporosis and hypocalcemia.
To address calcium deficiency, it’s essential to understand its causes, which include inadequate calcium intake, menopause, vitamin D deficiency, aging, low magnesium levels, pancreatitis, and genetic factors.
The symptoms of calcium deficiency might not be evident in the early stages but can worsen over time. Signs of deficiency include muscle spasms, confusion, numbness or tingling in the extremities, fatigue, depression, hallucinations, brittle nails, and weak bones more susceptible to fractures.
When calcium levels drop too low, it is referred to as hypocalcemia, and this can be harmful. The body tries to maintain normal blood calcium levels by pulling calcium from the bones, potentially leading to osteoporosis.
It is crucial to check for calcium deficiency through a blood calcium test during routine medical checkups. If abnormal results are found, further tests for ionized calcium, urine calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin D, parathyroid hormone (PTH), and PTH-related peptide (PTHrP) might be recommended.
To meet the body’s calcium requirements, it is important to consume foods rich in calcium. For adults aged 18-50, the recommended daily intake is 1000 milligrams (mg) of calcium, while adults aged 51 and older need 1200 milligrams per day. Foods such as beans, green leafy vegetables, dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese, cottage cheese, almonds, legumes, and dietary supplements can help fulfill these needs.
In conclusion, taking care of our health is of utmost importance. Calcium deficiency can have serious consequences, but with a balanced diet and proper intake of calcium-rich foods, we can support our body’s well-being. Remember to consult a doctor if you suspect any health issues or before taking any dietary supplements.
