#CONVEYOR BELT

Also like, just to say.....
It is a Conveyor Belt.
It is made to Convey (transport) your groceries from the end of the belt where your buggy is supposed to be up to your cashier at the front of the belt.
The whole purpose of it constantly moving (and constantly freeing up new space to put things on) is that you stand at the end of the belt and add groceries to it as space frees up.
And you ideally do it in the order that would be easiest to load a buggy in.
The frozen and heavy items first for the bottom of the buggy where everything can stay cold together and the heavy things won't crush the light stuff later.
The refrigerated and lighter stuff next.
Then anything fragile that you want in the child seat or on the top of the pile.
It doesn't really matter how long or short the belt is... if you stay at the customer's end and load it correctly.
I don't blame people for not having taken time to consider these things as grocery shopping is often a stressful experience and most of us learn our habits from people that took care of us as kids and the first few times we're put in charge of shopping on our own, but like......
That's how it's supposed to work.
If you have a customer ID or coupons or whatever you walk up to the cashier and supply those, then walk back to your buggy at the end and load the belt while the cashier scans and loads your new cart.
It's different for people using wheel chairs and buggies of course.
But for able-bodied people that's how you do it. 🎉
Hope it helps!
(Also if you have something you know will be Wet that will get the belt Wet then also grab some of those plastic bags from the meat section as you pass by while shopping or ask the cashier for an empty shopping bag from the bag wheel/stand and use that to prevent making the belt wet thank you! 💖)

AYCE lunch @ Let's Grill
Came to Let's Grill with CL after Rogue Wave.
Tumblr media
Located near Corona LRT Station, this place used to have another name . .. I've been to it before for a late night meal after badminton. Forgot the name now bcos I haven't gone back since. I don't know if they just changed ownership or what but. .. now it is a conveyor belt-containing AYCE place. That was the primary reason why we decided to come here.
Tumblr media
Always good to have other options, I suppose haha they not only have AYCE but also meal sets. For 11.99-15.99, I think the pricing was reasonable. In fact, MORE than reasonable for a downtown Japanese restaurant (not fast food).
Tumblr media
We got there shortly after 11:30, which was their opening time. We got seated at table #15, which was a spot at the corner of the conveyor belt track, & we were the 2nd table of diners at the time.
Tumblr media
My view.
I really liked that they have those plastic covers!
Tumblr media
Interior.
The track is quite long & traveled along majority of the restaurant. There are some window tables that are completely 'disconnected' from the track (if you wish to not participate in the AYCE).
Tumblr media
Tablet for non-belt items.
To clarify, the conveyor belt items were the 'chilled' items like sushi pieces, desserts, kimchi, wasabi & other condiments, as well as fruits. The tablet is for ordering hot items & drinks other than water. Some of these items include: miso soup, dimsum, fried things .. these are also part of the AYCE, but will be served to you.
Let's start eatinggggg~
Tumblr media
Avocado + tempura shrimp roll with salmon
Tumblr media
More rolls. .. with same 'interior' ingredients.
Tumblr media
Again. ..
Many of their rolls contained tempura shrimp & avocado as the main rolled ingredients. The 'topping' & sauce came in diff forms. I'm not sure if you would consider this as a good variety or not. The same rolls were seen often traveling along the conveyor belt. They also all come with a small pool of soy sauce & it was quite salty.
Despite a disappointment in this regard, I did think their ingredients were fresh & didn't taste pre-made.
Note: this was in chronological order of what we ate & we did spot some rare/special rolls later, towards the last quarter of our 2-hr meal. So maybe it has to do with the time? Like after 12:30 is when they make other rolls??? I don't know!
Now for some tablet-ordered items:
Tumblr media
Miso soup .. contained small clams o_O Not ell-versed in miso soup. Is this a regular thing? I didn't think so but I could be wrong. It was tasty though! Good to have after a round of rolls haha
Tumblr media
Fried things: salmon, salted shrimp, vegetable tempura & mini wontons. My fav was the zucchini from this assortment.
Tumblr media
Special roll #1: spicy salmon with mustard-based sauce.
Tumblr media
Special roll #2: mango + avocado with mayo sauce & crispy tempura bits.
Tumblr media
Deep fried beans & shrimp dumpling (these were from Costco bcos I have them at home myself lol)
The fried beans were actually my FAV item from this meal, followed by the miso soup.
Tumblr media
Coffee cake. I have had this before but can't remember where. I think it's some catering place bcos I know I didn't have this at a restaurant. It was at some big event or company potluck or something. This was really good!!
Lunch AYCE was $31.99, which was a very steep price considering the kinds of items that they had. There were no "expensive" things like beef or salmon or tuna sashimi. Will gladly say I tried it & visited Edmonton's only conveyor belt sushi restaurant; however, won't be revisiting until they change some things up.

My first interaction with a robot server out in Jersey City today at the new Kura Sushi! Its delivery was a bit bumpy but the glass of ice water I ordered off an iPad menu at our booth arrived safely. The future is here.
More from Kura Sushi soon…

SECRET CHEF
June 29, 2023
Tumblr media
Hulu’s new cooking competition show “Secret Chef” tributes “I Love Lucy” on its sixth episode, “Efficiency”.
Tumblr media
In a nod to “Job Switching” (aka The Candy Factory), the cheftestants interact with Cheffy, an animated chef’s hat that lives in a vintage television set. A conveyer belt is part of all episodes of the series.
Tumblr media
Just as on “I Love Lucy,” chocolates come down the conveyer belt, and the chefs grab for them, although they do not figure into the challenge.
One chef knows exactly what is being referenced, while another says “What happens on ‘I Love Lucy’? I never watched that show.”
