Part of the problem with Fate Grand Order is the core gameplay is fundamentally flawed, and it's very difficult to restore "a fun game" around a flawed core.
Quick and Buster and Arts were all interesting notions, and could have mapped into action gameplay (if we were to merge FGO's ideas with FSR's gameplay I would equate them to fast attacks, heavy attacks, and weaker attacks meant to charge your special bar, but I digress).
As it is, though, it just makes for unpleasant feelings in gameplay, demanding optimizations (I would point out that in the international release we only recently got the ability to combo all three together, and made Quick chains strong enough to consider independently). Those optimizations rise up around every aspect of the game; only a select few Servants have the ability to AoE without accessing their Noble Phantasm, and they haven't even made it to international. There's a wide range of Craft Essences, but only a few that ever matter. Creativity in builds is tamped down around increasingly narrowed build notions as the devs design with over-optimized teams in mind.
The end result is a game that, optimally, advises you to use your super rare fully powered optimized support, your friends' identically super rare fully powered optimized support, and a high power damage Servant, and repeatedly fire the damage dealer's Noble Phantasm to either clear waves or kill bosses.
Speaking of which, from a lore perspective, this is also completely messed up. By the lore of the Nasuverse, a Noble Phantasm is a Servant's super secret ultimate move, only meant for the final hour. This is fully incongruous with the gameplay, where you typically throw the same world-ending mythology-defining techniques three times in a row and call it a day. (Entertainingly, in the International release, we've also made it to Traum, where we see faceless Servants fire their Noble Phantasms like simple artillery, but that's its own commentary.)
Like, it's so effortless to imagine better systems than this! Servants deployed on a chessboard-like map, heralding back to the themes of Fate Apocrypha; suddenly we don't need anything as mechanically obtuse as Class Advantages when we could organically differentiate each Class by how they navigate the board or how they fight each other (Riders can leap over enemies like knight pieces in chess; Archers can attack at range without moving; Lancers do really well on Attack but have poor Defense; and Berserkers can be the units of terror that lore implies!)
Alternatively, the Grail Battlefronts we've already seen- rework the entire game to operate more organically like that; maybe Servants can use skills without entering combat, but it exhausts their actions. Then different forms of gameplay can exist beyond just "mulch the enemy"; like "defend this location" or "collect these resources" or "defeat This Particular Foe".
Or, even if we had to work with just the system we have! Change THAT! Rather than select three cards from a set of five, have it go down the list; each Servant gets One Action to either pick from "Quick, Buster, Arts, Use A Skill".
As for Servant Customization, walk it all the way back, all the way back up to the Attack/HP boosting. Make it so that players can individually optimize Servant performance in different ways- this Servant has better output in Arts, that Servant has higher Crit Star generation. And for folks who'd already spent their Fous, you could just say "right, so anybody with Fous spent can now allocate those points into these new Stats! No harm done!"
Of course, in order to do this, they would likely need to construct a whole new framework for their game, whilst preserving the progress people have made until now.
Then again, they are presently building castles in the sand during the rising tide with one hand and bandaging bullet wounds with the other, so maybe a long shot like that is what they need.

What advice would you offer anyone trying to make an AU that is wholly additive like your Sento Saiyans (as opposed to ones that focus on altering events like so many do)? Anything to try and avoid or lean into (e.g your Sento Saiyans lacking a SSJ form and the culture that builds because they all have access to emotion-driven forms in Oozaru)?
**LONG THREAD
First, kinda have half a brain to say "fuck all" to canon. The AU will be a sandbox you craft of your own while "using" canon material as your "non-canon" if that makes sense. I included canon character (Goku, Vegeta, Whis, etc) as chess pieces for the world I craft around them. I myself know this is not canon, not true to any part of Super or the establish status quo. I just have to be mindful of characterizations. I fight the "canon police" on the daily who try and lecture me on "this wouldn't happen" or "why make this because blah blah blah and this happens instead" because I'm practically disrupting all established norms. I just don't give a fuck and decide to do it anyway because it's fun.
Second, I'd have to know more on what direction you're trying to go. Are you trying to make a fan race or anything OC x Canon related? I could better answer with a bit more info.
If it's a fan race, my best suggestion is doing your homework on at least most of the established DBverse so that way you have substance on what you're trying to do and it'd make sense for where it may be inserted in (og DB, Z, GT, or Super). This applies with my earlier statement because you will have people that will want to ask you questions and you'll have to have some consistency or you'll create (too many) plot holes.
Lastly, the reason for me NOT having Sentos inherit super forms naturally is because:
A: I'm kinda tired of the recolors. I love super forms, don't get me wrong, but every Saiyan type does Super Saiyan. I want Sento Saiyans to work like Ikari/Wrathful Broly where he still looked like his base but still has that power buff. The only exception is the Legendary, Orran, where he gets both Oozaru AND the Legendary form.
B: For them it'll be a "deception tactic" where you'll think they look weak visually but they still have that power boost of the super form under the surface. The hair won't change colors but the eyes will. Sentos will learn the super form (properties) and not change into the form itself if that makes sense.
I'm playing a mind-game. "What? Saiyans that can't go SSJ? How does that work? That's what Saiyans do." Nah. That's called creativity. I call it the "Rock Lee" effect. They don't have to rely on being flashy or ki-driven to box. They're different. It's how you create skills and unique abilities that could stand in the same lane as SSJ but on a different branch. It's not to replace the forms, but how to bend them in different directions. Add different ways to utilize forms or transformations.
Sorry this is so long but my goal is to technically break the status quo and start looking at other ways to mold an established factor so that way new things can keep the air fresh and creativity flows freely. Research and think on it. DB is a giant sandbox that a lot of the fanbase tends to box themselves into corners and won't venture out because they believe it's cringe or taboo. There's a lot you can do if you have the mind for it. Toriyama himself can't remember SSJ2 even existed, you'll be fine.

“Chess demands total concentration.” - Bobby Fischer
That quote is simple, but important for two reasons. The first is that it is advice coming from–apparently–one of the best chess players ever. So I should probably turn off Netflix while I’m running through games. The second reason is that it falls in line closely with one of the main goals of my project.
In the last post, I gave a brief overview of the logistics of the project, which up to know have remained unchanged. I am still trying to play as much as I can. I am still reviewing my matches. I am still not looking up chess tutorials or theory. This post is not about the how of the project. It’s the why.
For a long time now I have had problems focusing and staying on task. Especially if the task at hand isn’t something that I find particularly fun. Even when playing video games I find myself distracted by a video on my second monitor or a notification from my phone. I don’t think I have any sort of attention deficit disorder. Or if I do, it is very mild.
I say that because there are many moments where I do stay on track and blast through my to-do list. Out of nowhere my brain seems to shift and I can dive deep into a task. But this is usually after blundering the better part of an hour, pruning distractions one by one until there is nothing left but what’s in front of me. It’s an amazing feeling nonetheless. After a few hours of working at that level of focus, there is a sort of afterglow of a job well done.
All that to say, I enjoy being able to focus but struggle to get into the right frame of mind for it. Ultimately the struggle stems from a hiatus I took from my post-secondary education a few years ago. In that time I obliterated any good-student habits I had before. This is where the game of chess comes into play.
Before I continue, I want to shed some light on the fact that my source is a biased one. This article works as an overview of the benefits of chess, but they are also selling subscriptions so it’s in their best interest to make the game look like a cure-all. It is a good place to start at least.
The article linked above mentions multiple benefits from playing chess--but doesn't include sources--including brain exercise, cultivating creativity, confidence boost, even using it as an educational tool. But the one I’m most interested in is number four on that list: “Chess helps you focus.”
Even without scientific data to back up the claims, it does make sense. Just as the example in the article shows, you could be playing perfectly all game, losing zero important pieces and pressing the king into a corner. All it takes is one mistake for the game to fall apart. It was noticeable even in the few games I have played since starting on this project. Bobby Fischer tells no lies when he says that you have to stay focused. Not just on the important pieces, but on the board as a whole. It’s not enough to know where the queen is. I also have to pay attention to how the queen interacts with other pieces, and where they are in relation to the king, and so on and so forth. But the focus should really be on the big picture, the ultimate goal: a checkmate.
Use all tools available, and use them to their fullest potential, to complete the goal. That is chess. It’s not possible if the mind is wandering and asking other questions. Getting a checkmate is paramount. That is why I want to learn chess. So that I can translate that to other areas of my life. Completing tasks without distractions means there is more time to do the fun things in life.
Do I think being good at chess would be cool? Yes, I do. There’s no denying it. Does it also happen to be fun? Yes. But I do see potential for a real benefit and I think that’s reason enough to give it a shot. At least for 14 weeks.

How to Activate Your Brain: Boost Cognitive Function and Unlock Mental Potential
Tumblr media
The human brain is an extraordinary organ, capable of incredible feats of memory, creativity, and problem-solving. However, just like the rest of our body, the brain needs care, stimulation, and nourishment to function at its best. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel mentally drained or sluggish. So, how can we "activate" our brain and enhance its performance?
In this article, we'll dive into the science behind brain activation and explore practical strategies you can adopt to boost your cognitive abilities. Whether you're looking to improve your memory, sharpen focus, or simply maintain a healthy brain as you age, the following tips will help you on your journey.
1. Understand How the Brain Works
Before we can activate our brain, it's essential to understand a bit about how it functions. The brain consists of billions of neurons (nerve cells) that communicate through electrical signals. These neurons form networks that control everything from our movements to our thoughts, emotions, and memories.
Certain parts of the brain are responsible for specific functions:
Frontal Lobe: Handles problem-solving, decision-making, and creativity.
Temporal Lobe: Involved in memory and language.
Parietal Lobe: Processes sensory information.
Occipital Lobe: Responsible for vision.
Each of these regions needs stimulation and proper nourishment to perform optimally. Let's explore various ways to activate these areas of the brain.
2. Exercise Regularly
Physical exercise isn’t just good for your body—it’s one of the most powerful ways to activate your brain. Engaging in regular aerobic activities, such as running, swimming, or cycling, promotes the growth of new brain cells, a process called neurogenesis.
Boosts Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF): Exercise increases levels of BDNF, a protein that supports the survival of neurons and encourages the growth of new connections between them. This enhances learning and memory.
Increases Blood Flow: Physical activity raises the amount of oxygen and glucose delivered to your brain, providing it with the energy it needs to perform at its best.
Reduces Stress: Exercise lowers levels of cortisol, the stress hormone that can impair cognitive function when present in excess.
Tip: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise most days of the week to keep your brain in top shape.
3. Engage in Mental Challenges
Keeping your brain active with mentally stimulating activities helps improve cognitive function and prevent mental decline. Just like physical muscles, the brain needs regular use to stay strong.
Learn New Skills: Engaging in activities that challenge your brain, like learning a new language, instrument, or hobby, creates new neural pathways and strengthens existing ones.
Solve Puzzles and Games: Brain games such as crosswords, sudoku, chess, and memory tests stimulate different cognitive functions, including problem-solving, attention, and memory.
Practice Mindfulness: Activities such as meditation and deep breathing improve focus and attention by training your brain to stay present.
Tip: Dedicate 15–30 minutes each day to a mental challenge, such as reading, solving a puzzle, or engaging in a new skill.
4. Eat Brain-Boosting Foods
Your brain needs a steady supply of nutrients to function properly. Certain foods have been proven to enhance cognitive abilities, memory, and overall brain health.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Found in fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines, omega-3s are essential for brain cell communication and reducing inflammation. They also improve mood and memory.
Antioxidants: Blueberries, spinach, and dark chocolate are rich in antioxidants, which protect the brain from oxidative stress and slow the aging process of neurons.
Complex Carbohydrates: Whole grains provide a steady supply of glucose to the brain, ensuring it has the energy it needs throughout the day.
Vitamins and Minerals: Vitamins B6, B12, and folic acid are crucial for preventing cognitive decline, while magnesium and iron support brain function.
Tip: Incorporate these brain-boosting foods into your diet daily for improved mental clarity and memory.
5. Get Adequate Sleep
Sleep is a crucial factor in brain activation and cognitive function. During sleep, your brain consolidates memories, clears toxins, and prepares for the next day’s mental challenges.
Memory Consolidation: The brain processes and organizes information learned throughout the day, making it easier to recall later.
Brain Detox: During sleep, the glymphatic system clears waste products, such as amyloid-beta, which is linked to Alzheimer's disease.
Improved Focus: A well-rested brain is better at maintaining attention, processing information, and solving problems.
Tip: Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night. Establish a consistent sleep routine by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.
6. Practice Stress Management
Chronic stress can have a detrimental effect on brain function. High levels of cortisol can shrink the hippocampus (the area responsible for memory) and reduce cognitive performance.
Meditation and Mindfulness: Both techniques are effective ways to reduce stress and improve brain function. Regular meditation strengthens the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for executive functions like decision-making and focus.
Breathing Exercises: Deep breathing techniques activate the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the mind and reducing anxiety.
Time Management: Prioritize tasks, take regular breaks, and avoid multitasking to prevent burnout and cognitive overload.
Tip: Incorporate daily stress-reducing practices such as deep breathing, yoga, or short meditation sessions to keep your mind calm and focused.
7. Socialise and Build Relationships
Human connection is vital for mental health and brain function. Regular social interaction helps keep the brain sharp and active.
Enhances Cognitive Skills: Conversations require thinking, memory, and focus, all of which engage and stimulate the brain.
Emotional Support: Social connections help reduce stress and anxiety, which can negatively impact cognitive abilities.
Prevents Cognitive Decline: Studies show that maintaining strong social relationships can protect against dementia and age-related cognitive decline.
Tip: Make time to connect with friends and family, engage in group activities, or participate in clubs or organizations that foster social interaction.
8. Stay Hydrated
Water is essential for brain function. Even mild dehydration can lead to cognitive impairment, including poor concentration, memory problems, and mood changes.
Improves Focus: Hydration helps maintain optimal brain function, keeping you alert and focused throughout the day.
Boosts Energy Levels: Water helps transport nutrients to the brain and remove waste, supporting energy production and overall brain health.
Tip: Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated and maintain optimal brain performance.
9. Break the Routine
The brain loves novelty. When you break out of your usual routine, you stimulate the brain and activate new neural pathways.
Change Your Environment: Something as simple as working from a different room, taking a new route to work, or rearranging your furniture can challenge your brain to adapt and think creatively.
Try New Activities: Introducing variety into your daily activities keeps the brain engaged. Try a new workout, cook a new recipe, or explore a new hobby to activate different areas of your brain.
Tip: Make an effort to do at least one new or different thing each week to stimulate your brain and encourage creativity.
10. Use Technology Wisely
While technology can sometimes lead to cognitive overload, it can also be a valuable tool for brain activation when used mindfully.
Brain-Training Apps: Apps like Lumosity, Elevate, and Peak offer brain-training exercises designed to improve memory, focus, and problem-solving skills.
Limit Screen Time: Too much exposure to screens can strain your brain, leading to fatigue and poor concentration. Balance your use of technology with offline activities to keep your mind sharp.
Tip: Use technology to your advantage by setting aside time for brain-training apps, and avoid mindless scrolling or excessive screen time.
11. Stay Curious and Open-Minded
Curiosity is one of the best ways to keep your brain active and engaged. When you're curious, your brain releases dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with motivation and learning.
Ask Questions: Keep your brain stimulated by constantly seeking knowledge and asking questions about the world around you.
Explore New Ideas: Expose yourself to different perspectives, philosophies, and subjects to expand your cognitive horizons and activate new neural connections.
Tip: Stay intellectually curious by reading diverse books, attending lectures, or watching documentaries that challenge your current understanding of the world.
Conclusion
Activating your brain and keeping it in optimal condition requires a combination of physical, mental, and emotional strategies. By exercising regularly, challenging your mind, eating brain-boosting foods, getting enough sleep, managing stress, and staying socially connected, you can maintain a sharp, focused, and healthy brain throughout your life.
Implementing these habits will not only help you activate your brain but also improve your overall well-being and quality of life. So, start today and unlock the full potential of your mind.

11,12,25,and 46 for the writer ask game! 💚💙
11. Link to three of your favorite fics right now
I really enjoyed honey, you're familiar, a great one-room one-shot like a stage play that uses chess as a metaphor for strategically making your way through a tough reunion.
And you know I have to boost your Luminara & Barriss, it's just hits just the right spots to give me those feelings.
And starwatcher (hold your ground) is a very unique canon divergence fic, and we really don't get enough set during Attack of the Clones. I'm way behind on it, @bettyxrosex has an admirable work ethic.
12. How does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?
This is a hard one because on some level I am aware of my audience and do want to please them. And I'm often surprised on what gets hits and what doesn't. I'm working on Way of the Mynock right now because I have a lot of ideas for it, yes. But also because it's gotten a lot of hits and I want to keep the momentum up. Contrasts, by contrast, hasn't gotten much feedback. But that's okay, I'm kind of writing that as therapy. Plus, the next chapter is a long diversion to the High Republic Era (the undervalued Phase II even) which isn't as popular. But I love this group of characters that will be in it. Because it's a "one for me" I can afford to take my time.
Dusk of a Golden Age hasn't gotten as many readers but the comments on it were so sweet and encouraging! I am dedicated to finishing it and polishing well before publishing. Sometimes series with a few, but enthusiastic readers are the best ones.
Sometimes I write things knowing few people will read it, but a select few will be looking for that sort of story and will love it. Microcasting. Theed Lament is like that. It has under 100 hits, but I hope I really scratched an itch for dozens who were looking for that experience.
25. What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?
Oh, that's easy. Jedi: Dropout. It's a fic with all OCs so I knew it would not pop up in searches very often, but it's where I hid a lot of my worldbuilding for Mirial and Mirialan religion and culture. So, if you're a reader and you like the pantheon I created and put into my Barrissoka stuff go read that too. I also hid a lot of my musing on the Jedi and their practices there. And it is a great little slow burn about two girlfailures (and Nerf herding).
46. How do you describe your style.
Character driven. High on interiority. I sometimes have action-focused stuff but it's not very grand and epic. Action and violence are usually small scale and in close quarters, I don't do grand battle scenes. Because the characters get lost in that. I make a point to occasionally injure the characters I love and want to protect so I don't handle them too preciously. Sometimes I try to just write smut but always put a lot of emotional breakthroughs in there too because I just can't help myself. Is there a term for a coming-of-age genre but it's about that 25-30 age range? I find that time of life very compelling, you're past your education and need to figure yourself out again as an adult.
Thanks for the asks, Bailey! I'll also link the original post so we can keep this going.

Train Your Brain Effortlessly For Optimal Performance
There are more than a couple dozen legitimate companies producing brain entrainment software, then there are subliminals both video and audio, software to take advantage of brain plasticity and even anti-aging software. Brain games, teasers, brain music, logic puzzles, strategy games, chess and more are found everywhere including smart software that learns from your performance to crossword click here to learn more puzzles found at your grocery store... Discover what's the driving force behind this mind brain explosion and what kind of results can you expect.
As you age past 30 and well beyond, evidence shows the brain will slow down but only if not maintained through challenging new brain exercise and stimulation. You can speed your brain up and improve even your most basic cognitive abilities at any age.
Recent studies have shown that brain training software can be effective in cognitive functions including visual and auditory processing, working memory, attention, and decision-making. As a result , effects can increase IQ , improve focus and concentration, experience clearer and quicker thinking, increased alertness and awareness,  spur creative and profitable ideas, improve relationships, even model success and attract wealth, really. There has been significant breakthroughs and approvals in brain training software for rehabilitation of stroke and traumatic brain Injury patients as well
Bob Moos of the Dallas Morning News recently reported and listed testimonials and proof that seniors are using brain training software to sharpen their minds and maintain more than enough brain function to enjoy activities once thought taboo for the elderly as motorcycle riding. He also states  this new audio PC based brain training software is part of a $225 million-a-year brain fitness industry. Even during the recession , experts show explosive growth.
Consumers can choose from brain enhancement software as brainwave entrainment, subliminal audio and visual training, audio cortex training , brain fitness software, brain entrainment and subliminals for your MP3 player or phone,  even Nintendo has popular hand held brain improvement games . There are brain workout websites and games , puzzles , brain teaser designed to exercise your brain in a fun and stimulating way. Mental exercise improves blood flow to the brain over the long term and the benefits of brain health that comes with this.  Brain music has been proven to optimize and stimulate brainwaves, neurons while you're simply listening to comforting music.
In another recent study reported by a Washington post staff writer, mentally challenging activities for adults also prove them performing  better in ordinary tasks such as checking the ingredients on a medicine bottle or looking up a number in a phone book -- and this effect can last for years...  Optimizing intellectual skills can strengthen your mind analogous to the same way that physical exercise protects and strengthens the body.  A new study from London, even shows that winded physical exercise is more of a boost to mental skills and quickness of thought processing.

Boost Brainpower: The Hidden Benefits of Chess Training at Any Level
Tumblr media
In an age of information overload and screen distractions, the humble game of chess is making a bold comeback-not just as a sport but as a powerful brain-boosting tool. Whether you’re a school student, a working professional, or a retiree, the benefits of chess training are far-reaching and timeless.
More than just moving wooden pieces on a checkered board, chess for brain health is a proven ally in sharpening the mind, enhancing memory, improving concentration, and nurturing strategic thinking.
We spoke with FIDE Instructor Dhanesh Shrikhande, a well-known coach who has mentored players across age groups and skill levels. His insights? “Chess is not just a game. It’s a way to train your brain, to think better, sharper, and faster. And the earlier you start, the stronger those benefits become.”
Let’s dive into the hidden benefits of chess training and why it deserves a place in your or your child’s daily routine.
The Surprising Benefits of Chess Training You Need to Know
Chess isn’t just about winning or losing. It’s about transformation. The benefits of chess training span across cognitive development, emotional resilience, and improved mental clarity. From enhancing memory to nurturing decision-making under pressure, chess acts as a mental gym-regardless of your age or background.
Tumblr media
1. Chess and Cognitive Development – Training Young Minds to Think Better
For children and teenagers, the benefits of chess training are nothing short of remarkable. The game acts as a workout for the growing brain, supporting crucial chess and cognitive development milestones like:
Logical reasoning
Pattern recognition
Attention span
Analytical skills
According to various studies, children who engage in chess lessons tend to perform better in subjects like math and science. Why? Because the brain’s executive function-responsible for decision-making and impulse control-gets a regular workout during gameplay. Dhanesh Shrikhande has seen it firsthand: “Students who played chess regularly showed dramatic improvements in their academics, especially in problem-solving and reasoning.”
2. Chess for Brain Health – Keep Your Brain Young
Think chess is only for kids or competitive players? Think again. For adults and seniors, playing chess regularly can be a preventive tool against cognitive decline. The mental benefits of playing chess include increased neuroplasticity and reduced risk of dementia or Alzheimer’s.
It’s like going to the gym-but for your mind.
How it helps:
Builds new neural pathways
Strengthens existing ones
Encourages mental agility
By engaging in chess for brain health, seniors can maintain a sharp memory and improved decision-making skills. Whether you’re in your 30s or 70s, it’s never too late to start.
3. Improve Memory with Chess – Training Your Brain to Remember Better
Chess requires you to remember moves, anticipate your opponent’s strategy, and recall previous games to improve your own. This intense mental recall strengthens both your short-term and long-term memory.
Studies show that players involved in chess training for all ages perform better in memory-based tasks, including remembering patterns, words, or numbers.
Why does this matter?
Because memory isn’t just about remembering names or facts-it’s about holding information in your head long enough to use it effectively. Chess mimics this mental multitasking naturally.
Dhanesh Shrikhande often assigns memory-based chess drills. “It’s a simple, yet powerful way to improve memory with chess, especially for kids with attention issues or adults struggling with information retention.”
4. Chess and Problem-Solving Skills – Think Before You Move
When you play chess, you’re not just reacting-you’re strategizing, evaluating, and anticipating. Every move is a mini puzzle. You’re constantly asking:
What happens if I move here?
What will my opponent do next?
What are the consequences?
This consistent habit of evaluating options develops strong chess and problem-solving skills, making players more solution-oriented in real life too.
Whether you’re planning a work project, making a financial decision, or even navigating a tricky conversation-chess teaches you how to stay calm, assess risks, and act wisely.

Danny Chase is Still Dead: Why You Should Care That Death in Comics Doesn't Matter
Recent events have forced me to break my attempt at positivity for the moment to address something to a number of you. Specifically, the people who are using this line to try and soften/deride people's outrage over the leaks that have revealed the death of Ms. Marvel in a book that isn't even her own.
"It's Comic Books, she'll be back in six months to a year."
Yeah... shut up, that's exactly the fucking problem and also not the fucking point.
Death in comics being a revolving door is not a reason to calm down on one's outrage. Because it's the exact fucking problem plaguing comics. A symptom of a wider issue infecting the industry: Apathy. A lack of care. And when you use that line it's you saying "Stop caring about this, it's just a dumb disposable story." And in a world where comics struggle to sell, that's the worst message you can send. And it encourages the comic companies to keep doing this.
Death not mattering in a story is the single biggest death knell to any serious writing endeavor. Because if there are no consequences then none of this matters. If the story does not matter, there's no reason to be invested in it. The story dies because no one cares enough about it. Because the characters within become nothing more than chess pieces to move about the board and sacrifice when need be. There's no attachment, no emotion, no thought, no care, no reason. Just kill them. Kill them and do it so willy-nilly that people just shrug and don't even bother.
And when someone actually shows they care, who is outraged, who is invested, because they love comics, telling them "It will be fixed later" does NOTHING to solve the problem. It actively says you agree with the reasoning behind it, that none of these characters matter. That their stories don't matter. And that the companies in charge of both are given carte blanche to continue marching along in their abject apathetic corporate bullshit.
Death in comics is NOT a right of passage for characters, it is a desperate lazy method of trying to generate interest because you are creatively bankrupt. It has been that way for a very, very long time since Superman was killed off for no other reason than they had to delay their big marriage to Lois Lane storyline a full year because of a TV Show.
That's real! That's the truth! That's the reason "Death of Superman" exists. That's the reason we got stuck with Doomsday in the third act of BvS! Because "Lois and Clark" was on TV and they wanted to wait to do their big marriage issue to line up with the episode they got married in. They may have worked emotion into it, they may have tried to make it meaningful. Doesn't matter, it was done purely for corporate reasons.
And it's still ten times worse with Kamala Khan now. It is a bold-faced cynical attempt by a writer to boost sales in their much-maligned book. Using a character that has had 12 pages worth of appearances in 25 issues! Meaning, she probably was only put into the book to set up her death and they didn't even bother to properly utilize her.
Not to mention how clearly racist and misogynistic it is. Kill your prominent Muslim Women character of South Asian descent, at the end of AAPI Month, to forward the story of Peter Parker by giving him more fucking angst over a character he barely interacts with at all! She doesn't even get to headlight her death in her own fucking book, she gets killed in some other character's story she wasn't even involved in! At least if she died in Captain Marvel it would've fucking mattered because Carol has been on several adventures with Kamala at this point and is deeply protective of her! Even then it would still be shit, but not this level of shit!
It's degrading, to both the character and her fans. And it is such a plainly obvious attempt at creating MCU Synergy that no fan wants! No one wants her to be resurrected as a Mutant with those dumb energy powers! That is the one thing about MCU Kamala that everyone pretty much agrees is stupid. And frankly, it's kinda making me hate Krakoa more because forcing every character to become a mutant is not really helping anyone, it's only oversaturating the goddamn line that is already bloated with too many teenagers that most people can't keep track of anyway.
This is why people don't like this move, not because they think it's forever, but because it is so callously cynically meaningless! Because it is being done for lazy, creatively bankrupt reasons! Because it shows how little Marvel cares anymore! Pardon me for saying this, but this exact thing is why I have been disappointed with how Marvel has treated Gwenpool and why I've been so critical of their usage of her. And now, this apathy is infecting Ms. Marvel. Friding her without any semblance of thought for the sole purpose of corporate brand synergy and shock value collectors' sales boosts!
It's disgusting. And giving into this mentality of "She'll be back soon" does nothing but embolden this attitude. It encourages Marvel and other companies to continue being apathetic and treat characters as disposable. How long before they decide to kill off Miles Morales super casually? Or Moon Girl? Or America Chavez? Or Kate Bishop? Or, my greatest fear, Gwenpool? Fridge them for no good reason and declare retroactively that you were doing them a favor by making people miss them. An absolutely disgusting mindset that I am frankly appalled by.
And before you say anything in an attempt to placate me with the usual line "Well they'll still come back anyway, at least there's that." And that's why I decided to title this post the way I did. Echoing Lewis Lovhaug's own statement about death in comics and why he hates it when it is done so flippantly and without purpose.
Danny Chase is Still Dead.
Danny Chase was a member of the Teen Titans, he was an abrasive character that got on a lot of fans' nerves for being just what he was. A snot-nosed, arrogant little brat with superpowers who was a total asshole. The Quentin Quire of DC of his Time. He died to save Raven's home world Azarath. And despite some brief appearances as an undead zombie here and there he has remained dead. Why? Because people didn't like him alive... and no one cares enough to want to bring him back.
Not every character returns from the grave in comics. Gwen Stacey, the original one, remains dead. The original Captain Marvel remains dead. And a lot of ancillary secondary-tier characters do not get to return either. Kamala Khan has a good chance of coming back to life, but how good are your favorite hero's chances? Especially the lesser valued ones within the big two? Why? Because they don't care. And they don't care because we've stopped caring. Because they've gotten lazy and complacent and they've decided this is an easy method of doing business. It promotes sexist tropes, it promotes bad writing and it promotes a lack of creativity. Allowing to persist helps no one.
Do not buy ASM #26. Do not buy anything written by Nick Lowe or Zeb Wells. They've shown they don't care and we'd be better off telling them that we don't care for their apathy. Don't send death threats, and don't wish them ill. Don't harass or bully or dox or stalk. Be angry, be critical, tell them off for their behavior and lack of talent. But do not give them reasons to dismiss you by threatening them. And hit them where it actually hurts; their wallets. Show Marvel that you're not going to keep letting this go on. I know any compulsion I had to own any copies of the Spider-Man run where Felicia and Peter are canon has just been completely demolished. I have no interest in single or collected issues of this... thing anymore.
The fact is, Death being a revolving door is the problem with comics. We shouldn't dismiss it as just a thing, because it's bad storytelling. And Kamala Khan deserves better than this utter travesty of a situation. To be killed off so Peter Parker's man-pain can be justified. And then promptly forgotten, as he fights Doctor Octopus the very next month. To be murdered just so as to be brought back as another dime-a-dozen mutant with lame powers to promote a movie, that will probably be hurt by this story more than helped. To be fridged with the most sexist of tropes, in the most racist of ways, just for corporate brand synergy and to boost the sales of a badly written story no one even likes to begin with.
You can probably say I'm just angry because I sorta defended Zeb Wells recently and feel betrayed. Well, to be honest, I wasn't defending Wells, I was defending the ship his poor writing was damaging in the crossfire. SpiderCat wasn't worth throwing MJ under the bus and it most certainly isn't worth the death of a beloved comic book character that had no business being there.
This run will not be remembered fondly, Nick Lowe's tenure as editor of the Spider-Man books won't be remembered fondly, and Zeb Wells as its chief writer will not be remembered fondly. Their apathy and lack of care will stain their reputations forever as a result.
Anyway, hopefully, next time I'll have less negative things to say talking about something I actually like instead of hate. Bye for now.

Here are some facts about the Moors in Europe: They ruled Spain and Portugal 754 years before the fall of the Mali Empire.
1. The Moors brought a wide variety of new fruits and vegetables to Europe.
The Moors brought many new fruits and vegetables to Spain and Europe that were considered exotic novelties at the time. These products included pomegranates, peaches, lemons, oranges, saffron, cotton, rice, silk, sugar cane, and a variety of other fruits and vegetables. Even though they are commonplace today, the Spanish at the time considered these objects to be almost alien. Several centuries later, they are still important components of Spanish food and production.
2. The Moors Developed Far More Rapidly Than Medieval Europe
The Arabs had an advanced civilization known for its architecture, science, mathematics, and exploration when they conquered the Iberian Peninsula. When the Moors arrived in Spain, they brought with them architectural innovations that astounded European stonemasons. The Alhambra, a fortress and palace complex in Granada, Spain, is one of the most stunning examples of Moorish architecture. Its construction started in 1238, and its grandeur and beauty far outstripped those of any comparable palace. It is still one of the palaces of the Islamic world that has been preserved the best today.
3. Chess Became Popular Across Europe Because of the Moors
Chess has been played for more than 1,500 years, but the Moors brought the game in its present form to Europe. The Moors brought chess to Spain after it had spread from India to the Arabic world. It spread through Europe's courts and society very quickly after it gained popularity. Chess was a well-liked game of strategy and endurance in medieval Spain. Chess was first mentioned in writing in Spain in the Catalan Testament in 1010 AD.
4. The Moors Took Their Hygiene Very Seriously.
A Moor, according to a catchphrase, "would rather go without bread than without soap." The Moors were known for their love of cleanliness. Due to their customs and the demands of their religion, the Moors valued cleanliness and often bathed; in the Moorish town of Cordoba, there were about 900 public baths. This made it possible to maintain proper hygiene at a time when plumbing and running water were still uncommon. Some sources also assert that the Moors introduced some kind of soap to Europe, ushering in a new era of hygiene.
5. The Moors Placed a High Value on Education
The Moors placed a high value on education and made sure that everyone in their realm had access to it. This was in stark contrast to medieval Europe, where education was only available to the richest nobles and clergy and where 90% of the populace was still illiterate. In fact, there have even been instances of European Kings who are illiterate. The Moors founded 17 prestigious universities in Spain, including ones in Cordoba, Malaga, Granada, Seville, Toledo, and Almeria.
6. Many Moorish Words Are Still Used Today in Spanish and English
The Moors introduced new ideas and words to Europe after they arrived, and these quickly assimilated into the common language. Up to 4,000 words in the Spanish language have Arabic roots, including algebra, checkmate, and influenza. Cipher, alcohol, chemistry, typhoon, orange, alkaline, cable, and nadir are additional examples.
7. The Moors Were Very Resourceful
The old Roman irrigation systems that the Moors discovered in Iberia had great potential, so they quickly adopted, improved, and revived them. This increased agricultural productivity and boosted the economy. Additionally, they were able to grow new crops they had brought, including figs, dates, apricots, lemons, and oranges. Thanks to the Moors' creative irrigation methods, Spain quickly rose to become one of Europe's top producers of crops.
8. The Moors brought significant Changes to Spanish Cuisine
For Europeans, spices were an uncommon commodity, and their cuisine was frequently regarded as bland. By bringing over hundreds of unusual spices, fresh recipes, and cutting-edge cooking techniques, the Moors altered that. We still eat a variety of wonderful dishes as a result of this culinary revolution. The spice markets of the Moors were renowned for their variety and provided options for chefs of all types. These medieval markets must have had the most amazing sights and smells.

My instincts have been 10x more powerful after what I call an awakening happened. I reached some lofty philosophy that left me in Nirvana where nothing matters (and my desire for woman flatlined), and it let me start comprehending the mind of demons without judging. This was a huge power surge for me spiritually, and I ended up shitposting so much that it got my thread locked. I deserved it.
I had a dream that said I still have some good things to say, and it’s a shame that it got locked. I’m confident it doesn’t matter where I post, though, as long as I hit certain notes.
I’ve been calling the philosophy the philosopher’s stone, because it combines both yin and yang. We’re in a yang dominant universe. All yin thoughts are valid, even if they appear evil at first. I guess that’s the start of it. There’s a lot more that can really boost your mental game into overdrive creativity and charisma. My personality became something like scratching an itch to people, I think. I flipped into extrovert and had to re-learn what I enjoy and how invalid/wrong I allow myself to be due to extroverted time constraints. This is the “limitless” jailbreak for your mind, but it is not for the weak.
I’ve decided to fit the wizard archetype by not telling the world about everything with a megaphone. I’ll just be content to indulge in my little obscure vampire paradise castle posting on an obscure part of the internet for selfish reasons.
After the power surge, some people on 4chan started creating a “Nobody” thread about a guy who apparently has awakened. I was able to easily convince them that it was me, and it got me called Satan, spawn of Satan, a man worthy of hellfire, and even a cannibal. My charisma was peaking a few weeks ago, but I’ve purposefully emptied myself for convenience and gone back to being somewhat regular. Belief that you’re the Nobody is a powerful thing. It allows you to take the first step on the magical bridge of faith. Who else could it be, honestly? I had one of the shittiest lives in existence hands down (it was literally gritty satanic pathetic torture 24/7), and now I am being rewarded with spiritual power and everything is awesome. The dreams say I have the robe and the ring of solomon. They say people should be thankful they met me, and I’ve opened a rift from earth to heaven. The only thing that remains is to claim my throne, but I’m playing the long game on that one.
I played chess with my tulpa for the first time. My instincts were so powerful I always perfectly knew what move she wanted. Something is different now. I’m starting to awaken.
