There was a noise in the next room. Muffled and quiet. You didn’t think anything of it as it was normal to you.

You were in your own room, scrolling on your phone. You froze when you heard the muffled sound turning into yelling. A crash made you jump and rush towards the noise.

When you opened the door, practically barging in, you see Gi-hun’s back facing you. He kept mumbling about something, his fingers tangled in his hair, pulling at wits end. Glasses shattered on the floor. He was out of breath as if he was running.

“Gi-hun?” You cautiously approach him. “Gi-hun… Gi-hun!” You called out to him, a hand on his shoulder. You gasped and flinched when he abruptly turned towards you and wrapped a hand around your throat. His facial expression was something you never want to see ever again.You hardly recognize him. You claw at his hand, nails digging into his skin. "It's me, Gi-hun... it's me. It's just me. Yo-u're sa-fe," you pleaded to him, panting for air.

Your voice and your eyes brought him out his own head, the cloud that always lingered in his mind. His grip loosened on your throat and put distance between you two. An apologetic and agonizing expression formed on his face. His mouth downturned. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to! I thought you were one of the guards... Sae-byeok, they were..." he trailed off. He plopped down on his bed and ran a hand down his face. He shakes his head firmly. "Forgive me," he whispered hoarsely, tears in his brown eyes.

You still feel pressure on your throat, you place a hand on it. It was red and an imprint of Gi-hun's handprint. You stare at Gi-hun before sitting next to him. You notice him stiffened, his posture tense. He didn't look back at you but to glare at the wall in front of him. His words registered in your ears, proccesing them. It was then you realized he was talking to the people he lost, hallucinating. You hesitated before wrapping your arms around his shoulders. Pulling him to you as he rest his head on your chest. "I forgive you," you say after a few moments of silence. You forgive him every single time.

His broken sobs echoed in the small room. You could feel the tears running down his face. He held onto you so you won't leave him. He hates that you see him like this. He hates that he brings you down. Everything is the way it is because of him. He doesn't know why you stay, why you even bother. He doesn't deserve you. He screamed against your chest, snot coming out of his nose. "Don't leave. Don't leave me. Don't leave. Don't leave me. Don't leave. Don't leave me," he says over and over again like a mantra. You only hold him tighter as a result.

"I won't leave, Gi-hun. I'm staying right here... I will not leave you," you say in confidence. You made good in your words by staying with him the rest of the night. Not going back to your room. You would talk to him quietly about your past to keep his mind off of things. Your voice soothes him and he relaxes. He managed to calm himself down and fall asleep in your arms. His body basically crushing you but you don't care. He needs you and you're there for him. Whatever and whenever.
