That last part really shows how painfully American a lot of anti logic is imo. In the US, violence of all kinds is routinely considered more excusable, tolerable, or even preferable to ANYTHING sex-related, consensual or not, and that culture shows up in fandom as well.

For example, Texas Republicans have worked on a bill that would require elementary school children to learn the kind of tourniquet techniques used in war zones in preparation for the next mass shooting but would ban any sex education at all. They genuinely think that sex and knowledge of sex is somehow more dangerous than actually being murdered.

It wasn’t that long ago that you couldn’t have ANY sex in movies or TV. You couldn’t even have a visibly pregnant character on screen because that would imply the character had sex at some point. But you could have guns, of course. You could have knives and swords and characters dying onscreen and fist fights and all manner of violence. That was A-okay in the USA. That, for some reason, was not always considered “adult content” or “explicit.” The number one reason for banning books in the USA is sexual content, especially queer sexual content. Not violence or murder, but sex. An elected official bombing a region with drones might not even be a blip on the news radar, but an elected official having ANY kind of sex scandal, even if it’s something mundane with limited damage like cheating on their spouse or taking nude selfies will be front page news for days or even weeks.

If someone is handwringing about how sexual content in fanfics created by individuals will “normalize” this or “fetishize” that or how X pairing is “gross” but they don’t seem to feel that way about violence in mainstream media created by corporations…dollars to donuts they’re from the US, or at least from a place with a similar culture.

Because it makes no sense to say that the sex story will “normalize” something but the murder or assault and battery story won’t. Either fiction makes things normal or it doesn’t. When they pick and choose which stories “normalize” like that or they hold sexual content to a higher standard and scrutinize it more closely than any other kind, it gives away that they’re just going off of their own personal preference but for some reason feel the need to turn their personal preference into a moral crusade where they can feel superior to anyone who doesn’t share that preference.

And that preference was almost certainly helped formed by a culture that vilifies sex far more than violence or anything else.

Did you know that AO3 allows fics with homicide in them? There’s a whole tag for Major Character Death and even more tags so you can find exactly what kind of character death you want to read. 

Don’t they know that murder is illegal? You just know there are a bunch of homicidal maniacs out there who love to read those stories. They write them, too, in between killing people. 

Anyone can read the stories on AO3! Kids can read them! They’re getting exposed to stabbing, poisoning, even guns! And they’re writing the heroes doing the killing, too! That’s basically telling kids it’s okay to go out and murder their families. It’s promoting violence and encouraging homicide and if we don’t do something about it soon, you’ll be murdered next!

​he's under the row of flags on Neige's side of the room, next to the big Neige poster with the yellow background (look just to the right of the hand holding the apple)! he's REAL little; once you know he's there you can kind of see him in-game, but I only noticed him in the first place because I took a screenshot and was having fun zooming in on all the details!

I think that's either Hop or Snick and Dominic on either side of Neige, but if the others are meant to be anyone in particular I don't recognize 'em. though I do love all the absolutely terrifying implications of Rook having this. was this some kind of officially-published merchandise (and if so, why) or did Rook like...go hunting through the RSA trash to find this random student lineup just because it included Neige, and has had it hanging proudly on the wall ever since. (I mean, he definitely did do this, I don't know why I'm asking. the real question is why he hasn't cut out little pictures of his own face and stuck them over everyone else's yet.)

And while I’m complaining about book banning, I’m also gonna add that I do not support “reverse book bans,” in which a book that Conservatives like, such as the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or a Republican politician’s memoir, gets banned.

I get the impulse to give them a taste of their own medicine and the satisfaction that comes with that, but it’s basically throwing the principles of free speech and free access to information out the window for the sake of a childish revenge ploy that isn’t going to work. There has not been one instance of that tactic actually working and getting book banners to back off. All it does is fuel their victim complex about the “woke left attacking Christianity” and such.

Not only is reverse book banning morally hypocritical (supporting the freedom to read means supporting the freedom to read ANYTHING, not just books you like and agree with), it’s ineffective. You really think Conservatives won’t sacrifice those books if it means hurting the people they hate? They will. They’ll do it a thousand times over and not think twice about it.

Every time I read about one of these “reverse book bans,” I’m reminded of how, when school integration became a thing, Prince Edward County in Virginia closed its entire public school system because they hated Black children so much that they were willing to deny an education to all children, even White ones, if it meant Black children wouldn’t get one either. These kinds of folks will absolutely sacrifice their own and everything they love if it means hurting the people they hate.

You are never going to win a suffering contest against people who like suffering and want there to be more of it.

There are a lot of terrible arguments that book banners use, but the one that’s the most infuriatingly stupid is, “Yeah, I know it’s in the adult section, but a kid could still see it!”

Okay, let’s get rid of everything for adults then.

No more wine or beer in grocery stores; a kid might think they’re juice and try to drink them. No more movies that aren’t rated G because a kid might see one. No more bars, nightclubs, or casinos; a kid might have a fake ID or otherwise manage to gain access to one. No more tobacco; a kid might try to smoke. No more music that isn’t Kidz Bop; a kid might overhear it. No more sex toys, pregnancy supplies, or family planning supplies; a kid might ask what that stuff is for or where babies come from.

The idea that adults should never get to enjoy anything made for them because a hypothetical child you made up might see it is a whole other level of idiocy. And acting like it’s somehow more reasonable to expect all adults to give up everything they enjoy than it is to expect parents to watch their own damn kids is the epitome of entitlement.

(yes I'm aware that for most of the story he's a fan of gloves) It was interesting trying to work with a simpler style than I'm used to.

Webtoon removed the "time and time again will return!!!" Banner and I don't know why, but it's not over!!! There's still another 1/3 of the comic to go! There's a lot more stuff that I'm working on and it'll be coming back soon!

Please be patient with me, I know it's been a long time... But the stuff I'm making is really good and there's a lot of reasons it's taken this long. I promise I want it back more than anyone.
