Judas bein' kinda... ඞ

(As usual, no cartoon on next week on Good Friday. Tomics will be back on Easter Sunday!)

JOKE-OGRAPHY: In the Bible, Judas decides to betray God (been there, amirite?) and leads a group of Jewish soldiers to arrest Jesus.  He proposes they lie in wait for the right moment, when he -- Judas -- kisses Jesus in the garden to show them Who to arrest.  The kiss is perfectly ironic, because it's a wholesome symbol of friendship being used as the signal for betrayal.  CLASSIC!  In this cartoon, however, we see the planning phase of Judas's big moment.  Maybe it didn't seem as smooth and Shakespearian to the guards who just wanted to get it over with.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Huhuhu.  You thought you'd get through Lent without one more "Tomics Resurrection" (where I take an old comic from my first few years of Tomics and reinvigorate it with MODERN TECHNIQUE and CUTTING EDGE STYLE)?  Of course you did, FOOL that you are.  Gaze upon the evidence of your FOOLISHNESS, Fool.  Hmm?  A question?  Then speak, Fool, if you can.  Hmm?!  You ask, "In the original, Judas had a full beard, so where did that go in the update?"  Well, I read somewhere in my ancient youth that Eastern icons are split on depicting Judas as one of the younger or older apostles, and so I gave him a patchy pseudo-beard to place him between his bearded and beardless friends in my comics.  Hmm??!  Another question, you say?  You ask, "What about those Roman soldiers?  Where did they go in the update?"  HA!  Simple.  They were all TURNED INTO JEWS BY A WITCH to be more accurate to the modern scholarly consensus that it was probably just Jewish soldiers that arrested Jesus in the garden.  Any more FOOLISH questions, FOOL?!  One more?  Proceed.  Hmm?!?!  You DARE ask, "How are you today?"  FOOL!  Now your FOOLISHNESS is surely at its zenith.  You DARE to fool with ME?  FOOL!!!  I shall only entertain such impudence out of PITY and answer... Transformers One Theories Part 1: Sentinel Prime and how he gained power on Cybertron (Special Guests: Quintessons) 

Hello, Transformers One has taken over my mind so I’ve been rewatching the trailers and reading some interviews/articles. One thing I’ve noticed is that the marketing for this movie is mainly focused on Orion Pax and D-16’s friendship and the tragedy of their eventual fallout. However, there is little information on Sentinel Prime and the role he plays in the movie. Since I’m delusional, I came up with these crazy theories about Sentinel Prime, specifically on how he’s the villain in this story. 

Before we get into my theories, here is some extra information that I’ll be referring to when explaining:

What We Know (trailers, interviews/articles, TV spots already released)- be warned, potential spoilers from articles/interviews released in Summer 2024

FYI- I will include screenshots from both trailers, so they should be images you've already seen- so no unexpected images.

In an IndieWire interview, the film was described as an “epic story about the rise of two leaders… including the start of a revolution, a years-long conspiracy and war with other aliens…”  

In an interview with Josh Cooley ( aka the director), he says that he “embraced the chance to explore.. political corruption, revolution, and war”

Cybertron is currently undergoing an Energon crisis/drought (from other interviews)

There was another conflict, which involved the Primes, that occurred before the events of the movie- at the SDCC panel, they showed a clip of Sentinel Prime giving a speech about a past battle that killed all of the Primes and some veterans.

Cooley also mentioned in an interview (and at the SDCC panel) that Hasbro gave him a “bible” of Transformers lore

In a different interview, he also said that in the original story for the movie, Megatron was a gladiator. In fact, there were gladiatorial fight scenes planned, but were eventually cut out. 

In addition, he and Orion Pax originally came from very different social backgrounds.

Does that sound familiar? (It should)

The “bible” of Transformers lore with D-16 as a gladiator and Orion Pax from a different social background would be the “Binder of Revelation”- which is what the Aligned Continuity (WOC games, TFP, Rescue Bots) is based on. 

I’ll be referring to the Aligned Continuity as “AC” from now on. Yes, I know it sounds like air-conditioning, deal with it.  

Therefore, I’ll also be talking about AC Sentinel Prime, as I believe that TFO Sentinel is heavily based on that version. 

In the AC, Cybertronians initially did not know how to transform, but everyone was born with a dormant T-cog. 

The Quintessons showed up later, pretending to be emissaries who wanted Cybertron to join the galactic community. They pretended to magically give the Cybertronians T-cogs and the ability to transform (they were activating the dormant T-cog). As a result, they were welcomed on Cybertron and gained public support from its inhabitants. 

Afterward, they set up a global puppet government ruled by Sentinel Zeta Prime and a small council of Cybertronians. They also established the social caste system where one’s alt mode determined their role in society. 

However, their facade was uncovered when a few individuals found out about their plan to sell Cybertronians. 

Sentinel Prime led a rebellion that kicked the Quintessons out of Cybertron.  

Afterward, Sentinel stayed as the leader of Cybertron and continued to enforce the caste system- making it the absolute way of life on Cybertron- which would later become one of the reasons for the start of the Great War.

Now.. finally- my theories

THEORIES

Sentinel Prime is business partners with the Quintessons (sort of?) 

The first trailer shows some Quintessons arriving on the surface of Cybertron. Later shots show Sentinel Prime landing in front of one of the ships. In the background, there are also two trains,Airachnid, and some Vehicon-looking soldiers. It seems that they were expecting the Quintessons. They would have brought more soldiers and weapons if they were unexpected guests. Also, when one of the Quintessons grabs Sentinel, he seems distressed but makes no effort to escape. If it was an unexpected action, he may have reacted more violently. None of the soldiers in the background react to this too- meaning that this interaction isn't new. My main takeaway here is that Sentinel has interacted with the Quintessons before. 

In AC, the Quintessons secretly took over Cybertron and exploited its people and resources. What if they are doing something similar here? Some interviews said that an energon crisis/drought is happening on Cybertron, and Orion Pax and D-16 are energon miners working to help in this crisis. But what if there isn't a crisis going on? What if this is a cover-up for the truth that all of the energon is going to the Quintessons instead of the people?  The trains in the background came from below the planet where the mines are- so they may be carrying energon to give to the Quintessons. But is Sentinel willingly giving the energon to the Quintessons or is forced to? If he's doing this out of his own free will, then why?

Which brings me to the next theory…. 

Sentinel Prime was somehow involved with the demise of the original Primes 

At the beginning of the second trailer, there appears to be a monument under attack (explosions and Cybertronians running away from it). Other shots of the trailer show that this monument has the Matrix of Leadership and figures (at least 7) engraved in it. This is most likely a monument for the original Primes (and current) because other shots show statues of Sentinel Prime-they are blue and gold and have wings - surrounding it. 

As mentioned previously- before the Iacon 5000- Sentinel gives a speech about the Primes and how they perished in battle. Based on the giant monument and Sentinel’s speech, it’s safe that the Primes are well known and are considered important figures- perhaps heroes- on Cybertron. 

BUT- the first trailer shows the bodies of the Primes in a cave, where they are covered in vegetation- as if they were abandoned. If the Primes are considered important, heroic beings, why were their bodies left on the surface of Cybertron? Why were they not taken back to Iacon to be given a proper funeral? 

….. Something is fishy here.   

Like I said- this is a crazy theory, but I think Sentinel was responsible for the demise of the original Primes. Sentinel giving a speech about the Primes and the event/battle of their deaths suggests that he knows HOW they died.  The fact that a battle is mentioned indicates a war or conflict before the events of TFO. This lines up with what another interview said- that the movie would include wars with other aliens. 

These two pieces of information make me believe that before the movie's events, there was a war between Cybertronians (specifically the Primes) and Quintessons, who were invading the planet. To support that- in a shot with Orion Pax, D-16, and Bumblebee looking at Alpha Trion's recording, Alpha Trion is holding a blaster- he's directly involved in combat.

As said before, in AC, Sentinel was installed as the leader of a puppet government controlled by the Quintessons. But instead of being installed as leader directly by the Quintessons, he probably became leader in a different way in TFO.  

Sentinel may have been under the direct command of the Primes or was one himself. Tying back to the first theory-  I think he made a deal with the Quintessons. He betrayed the Primes- by leading them into a trap/battle where the Quintessons killed them (only Alpha Trion survived- somehow). In exchange for the Quintessons killing the Primes, which would allow him to become Cybertron's leader, he would give them the planet's energon. As a result, the Quintessons would have someone who would give them the resources (energon) they want.  

Also- in the same clip with Orion Pax, D-16, etc.- Orion says that the recording is an SOS call- I betting this was sent when the Primes were overwhelmed by the Quintessons.  Since the call never made it through, someone-maybe Sentinel- blocked it or hid it until the main cast found it. 

Overall, this would be a beneficial situation for both parties- Sentinel gets control/power over the planet, and the Quintessons get Energon without spending time and resources trying to conquer Cybertron. This may also explain why no one is allowed to go to the surface- they might see the Quintessons and discover the Primes’ bodies- and put into question Sentinel’s true loyalties.  There is supposedly a  “years-long conspiracy” involved in this movie, which may be referring to this- the Primes were murdered, and the Quintessons have control of the planet’s resources through Sentinel, who has been lying all these years about the fates of the Primes and where the Energon actually goes. 

Summary of my theories: 

Before the events of TFO, there was a war between Cybertronians and Quintessons, with the Primes defending Cybertron. Sentinel made a deal with the Quintessons. He betrayed the original Primes, allowing the Quintessons to kill them, thus giving him leadership over the planet. This benefits the Quintessons because they get a leader who willingly gives them the planet’s energon. To prevent the Cybertronian population from discovering Sentinel’s role in the Primes’ demise AND the Quintessons, they are not allowed to go to the surface under the assumption/lie that the surface is dangerous. 

This would be a new twist on the events in the Aligned Continuity while also combining a few elements of other versions of Sentinel into one: the jerk from TFA, the betrayer from Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and the leader who only gained power through association with the Quintessons from AC.

i did all my quests! (lights laundry, reading plan, and water consumption). i intentionally didn’t include any academics since it’s a sunday. i decided to learn the Thanksgiving Theme from the charlie brown/peanuts soundtrack. first time actually practicing focussed-ly in 3 months. i logged my bible study and piano and yeolpumta has me at 2hrs 20m of studying. tomorrow’s quests:

• section 2, english 3

• measures 22-37 of the thanksgiving theme

• reading plan

i hope ill be able to do all those things as well as errands. only a little more than 2 months until 2024 is over. i worry that i may not be able to finish my diploma in time—i must stay focussed though. since ive had a studyblr and yeolpumta i’ve been so much more productive. tired, must sleep. goodnight!

I disliked the weather today. It is what it is. I did get a lot done. I decided to do some Biology review as well on the questions I keep missing which are on energy and transport. I reviewed enzymes today, and I will review passive and active transport on Monday. I am so close to course mastery in both Geometry and High School Biology. Once I reach course mastery in Geometry, I plan to start the Getting Ready for Algebra 2 course.

I also found a neat music composition course online that is free! I am going to start it on Monday. It focuses on classical composition and has a greater focus on harmony and counterpoint later on according to the syllabus, and if I am going to be ready for level 10 harmony and counterpoint by next summer, starting now is a good idea. It's comparable to a second year university course if that tells you the difficulty of it! The workbooks are always very bland, and while my teacher goes through all of it with me too, I want to do some independent study while I have the extra free time to do so.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I will be helping with prep for the service unit bridging ceremony, and then I am going to go to the art museum with my family. I haven't been in a while, so I am very excited to view the current exhibits!

Cody sat on the church benches next to his beloved fiancée as he listened to the priest preaching the bible, he wasn’t a religious man, nor a spiritual one, but he only went to church with Delilah every Sunday just too see that sweet smile spread on her face, he admired her passion towards her beliefs and many other things, it was so special to her that he went out of his way to sit in mass with her every weekend for an entire hour, he did it to see that little smile on her face. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t bored out of his mind

Cody sat there trying so intently on focusing to what the preacher was preaching exactly but he couldn’t, the only thing keeping him awake was Delilah, his sweet angel, her skin as soft as butter, her hair as bright as the sub, she was a goddess in his eyes so who’s to blame him for treating her like one? Cody ran his hand down her bare thigh & hummed when she turned to him with a short pout & tried to put her focus back on the bible verse she was reading “Cody not now” he hummed scooting closer to her & dipped his hand further between her thighs before sighing & leaning into her ear “Are you telling me what to do sweetheart?” He spoke to her in a warning tone while his fingers teased their way closer & closer to her panties making her frown and try closing the Bible but he hummed in disagreement forcing it back open “Don’t let me distract you angel” Delilah huffed and shot him an irritated pout.

by the end of Sunday mass Cody smiled to himself with pride & Helped Lilah stand up & fix her panties followed by church dress before walking out of the church “Cody one of these we’re gonna get in trouble” he shrugged as he held her hand and lifted it to kiss her engagement ring “only thing that would get us in trouble is how loud you are angel, I’m still amazed with how sensitive you get despite how many times you ask me to fu-“ “CODY!” She smacked his arm as he snickered to himself with pride while they finally got back to the car.

2024 was an important year for Cody & Delilah, They had planned the wedding to fall on the exact day they met which fell on the 25th of may, on april 6th & 7th which was within a few days was wrestle-mania, Cody wanted Delilah, Kinsley & Mira to be at the event & also as a way to help set Randy up with Mira & hopefully blow the tension away from the pair, the road to WM has not been the easiest for either of them, Delilah hated watching Cody basically be taunted & bullied by The Rock & Roman, She didn’t even think that Monday night raw segment should’ve happened, Cody got into a scuffle with Rock on live television & Delilah hated every minute of it, hell he still had the belt lashes marked on his back still. Cody couldn’t keep count of the amount of times he had to reassure Delilah that he was fine but she wasn’t having any of it.

Once they got back to the house they heard Mira & Randy arguing over the wedding plans while Kinsley quietly sat in the living room finishing up this weekends homework & looked over at her older sister & Cody “Neither of them want to do anything what the fuck do you want me to say!” Randy huffed and Mira yelling & ran a hand down his stress express filled face “Cody doesn’t want to go to a strip club Delilah doesn’t want a bachelorette party what the fuck are we supposed to do now, they’re like gorilla glue they can’t have a moment away from each other because Cody starts acting like a fucking crack addict when he doesn’t breathe the same air as Delilah.” The couple shook their heads snickering before going upstairs to get changed leaving the other two alone again to keep arguing.

Lilah sat on the edge of the bed as she took off her heels and watch Cody take off his suit & winced at the marks covering his back, especially when they weren’t marks from her. Cody saw her look from the mirror he stood in-front of and gave her a smile but she kept frowning “Cody I can’t stand looking at those marks, it looks like your in constant pain.” He shrugged and tugged in a t-shirt before turning over towards her “Baby I can promise you first hand it didn’t even hurt 24 hours after that.” Delilah furrowed her eyebrows & shook her head “I don’t believe you.”

Cody sighed lightly and crouched to her level while helping take off her heels and leaving soft kisses scattered around her ankle “If I was in pain I would tell you.” Delilah cupped his face in her hands while her eyes scattered around his face admiring any features she found before pressing a soft kiss against his cheek “I hate seeing stuff like that happen to you.” She muttered while he hummed in acknowledgment & ran his fingers through her hair before a slight smile crept up across his lips, Lilah smiled for a split second until she felt a sudden urge to run towards the bathroom making Cody spring up & follow her “Oh sweetheart, I’m right here okay? Let it out” He crouched behind her as she was hovering over the toilet throwing up, soon Mira & Kinsley came into the room to check on what the fuss was about, “Jesus christ Delilah are you alright?” The blonde shook her head and sat back against a wall and stared at Cody & then Mira “I..I don’t think this is normal…I’ve been throwing up almost everyday.” Cody huffed a bit and tried to bring some light into the situation but before he could even let out a peep Mira turned her head towards him and glared.

Cody turned his attention back to Kinsley & smiled sweetly before clearing his throat “kins why don’t you hang out in the kitchen with Randy for a bit yeah?” Lilahs little sister furrowed her expression “But I want t-“ “20 bucks.” “Deal.” Kinsley immediately scampered out of the bathroom after Cody negotiated with her, Mira crouched next to Delilah & helped her get up and wash out her mouth “let’s just hope Cody’s cooking is what made you throw up.” Delilah smiled a bit and walked over to Cody & immediately engulfed herself into his arms with a tired grin “You feeling better angel?” she hummed in acknowledgement at his question before he & Mira helped lie her down, “I’m gonna go make sure Randy isn’t teaching Kins how to elbow drop anyone so, You too relax.” Mira sighed out before making her way downstairs leaving the couple alone.

Delilah hummed to herself before looking up at her soon to be husband & smiled “What is it gorgeous? What’s got you all smiley” Cody teased at her and ran his hand down her hair while she shrugged “Nothing, Just admiring you” he chuckled holding onto her hand, He felt as though he was under some sort of spell casted by Lilah, He was so infatuated with her that he couldn’t be with out her, her skin was always warm and soft, her eyes were like a hypnotic illusion he caught himself staring into, her lips were soft and plump and had a hint of cherry flavored chapstick spread against them, He was so addicted to the thought of her, since day 1 he instantly knew that he wanted her to be his, his wife, the mother of his kids, his soulmate, he didn’t just want her though, he needed her like he needs oxygen, he wants her to rely on him, depend on him and only him, he needs her.

Delilah was just as obsessed with him, She felt like a lost dog when he wasn’t around, She was addicted to his words, his kisses, his hugs, most importantly his touch, Anytime she found herself back in Cody’s arms she couldn’t help but melt & let him take whatever control he had over her, He was the most beautiful man she’d ever laid eyes on, anytime he was in pain so was she, She’d melt at any moment if he touched her in any sort of way, she was like putty in his hands & that’s what he also loved about her, the two knew they wanted to have kids together, there was no doubt about it, it wouldn’t be a shocker to either of them if she had discovered she was pregnant since they’ve been trying to get to that point for months now.

Cody leaned up against her & smiled with her as he held onto her face & pressed his lips onto hers and pressed his hips against hers, Delilah hummed softly against his mouth and wrapped her arms around his shoulders before pressing a kiss against his cheek and neck, Cody pressed his crotch against hers even more and even lifted up her skirt pressing his fingers right against her clothed clit which was followed by a short whine right by his ear making him lift his head up and put on a fake pout “Oh I know baby, It must be so hard getting teased isn’t it? Yozakura Family: It turns out that the Yozakura's already planned for the possibility of the twins defying orders, and help them to reach Asa's ship; Hifumi's Infinity manages to stave off Asa's attacks, proving that she's capable of defending herself and Alpha. I'm glad to know that the family has faith in the kids, and that they aren't just going to take a backseat for the rest of the finale

Undead Undead: Billy mansplains the concept of war crimes to War; Julia womansplains the concept of souls to Soul and stabs Andy in the head to bring back Victor. The narrow-mindedness of the Rules contrasts the freedom of the Negators; while I'm sad that we cut away from Feng, it's very exciting to see Julia bringing back Victor while mirroring Fuuko's actions from 210 chapters ago wait...210...LIKE HOW LONG SHE WENT WITHOUT SEEING ANDY???)

Roboco: Roboco makes a movie that subtly implicates her and the rest of her town as accomplices in some kind of criminal activity. Honestly, I'm more interested in what crime she apparently committed than the film itself

Sakamoto: Sakamoto inadvertently teaches Torres how amazing everyday life is; Shin convinces Tenkyu that he's the fortune teller, but immediately abandons the plan to manipulate him when he learns that Tenkyu wants to kidnap Sakamoto's family. The bit with Torres was very fun and cute, and I'm interested to see how the bit with Tenkyu turns out, though I'm wondering why it was necessary to trick him if it was going to be overturned so quickly?

Elusive Samurai: Mima sends her dad letters explaining the deviant sexual acts that Tokiyuki totally makes her do; after a couple year timeskip, Sadamune and Tokiyuki meet for their final battle. Matsui keeps teasing that Tokiyuki is going to marry Mima and have Shizuku and Ayako as concubines, but no one seems to be even a little onboard with this plan, and Tokiyuki doesn't even seem to be aware of it!; speaking of being unaware, apparently Tokiyuki views Sadamune as a father-figure? I may need to reread to catch that nuance

Blue Box: Taiki cheers up a heartbroken Kyo with some food. A heartwarming display of friendship; gives a small analysis on risk-taking - if Kyo had been proactive with Moriya, he would have had a chance, but it's against his nature to do so, so he would have been misrepresenting himself

Akane-Banashi: Issho's backstory is further revealed, being a rich boy who left his family to pursue his own fortune; when a well-respected rakugo-ka saves him from a yakuza, Issho's lifelong journey finally begins. The discussion about passion, that Issho tried to become a soba chef out of gratitude and obligation rather than love for the art, resonates as advice to actively seek happiness in life

Kill Blue: Juzo gets, like, crazy into PreCure and reenacts the diner scene from Pulp Fiction by quoting it instead of the Bible. I am left to wonder if this is just a gag or foreshadowing that his mind is being more heavily affected by the de-aging

Nue's Exorcist: Fujino is distraught that Gakuro has come to save her because it gives her hope that he loves her like she loves him, even though she knows that he would go out of his way to save anyone regardless. "Of course [she's worth it]! Obviously" is a pretty romantic line, so I'll be surprised if she's not endgame; however, if she IS endgame, then it's weird that she's going second and preceding Kazusa; if Kawae gives us canon polyamory and commits to it, I swear right now I'll reread the whole series and actively try to love it

Kagurabachi: Everyone shows the resolve to sacrifice themselves for Samura, and Hakuri is able to summon his Enchanted Blade, Tobimune, for him. Self-sacrifice seems to be the theme of this arc, I expect that will play into how one of the Enchanted Blades gets transferred to the Hishaku

Chojo: Omega Inukai spreads a Chojo-loving zombie virus through all of Chinjuku; everything is returned to normal with a tea party. This did not turn out to be the sudden climactic finale that some folks thought it would be

Astro Royale: Sou exposits on her past with Himuro, framing obvious and horrific police brutality as heroic and beautiful in the context of her flashback; Terasu wins the fight by waiting out Sou self-destructing. Terasu was perfectly useless here, I'd really have preferred he actually fight; I really hope that Himuro's police brutality isn't actually meant to be endearing, cus that framing really makes it look like it's supposed to be

Murakami: Murakami calls out Sanmoto Gorozaemon for his vague goal-setting in generically "conquering the world" and his shallow definition of good and evil. Considering that this is supposedly the strongest Yokai, I'm very unclear of where this story can go from here

Kiyoshi: Sakaki gets a middling roll on Sting, forcing him to fight Yuda with an umbrella to surprisingly competent effect; the chuunibyou from last week accidentally summons the Great Demon Lord. This could easily just be the introduction of the main antagonist, but it's always scary when such a big enemy shows up before the 20-chapter mark

Hima-Ten: While helping Kanna move into her new apartment, Tenichi discovers her dark secret - she has a fetish for butlers; the implications of this are completely lost on Tenichi. Honestly, Kanna is the most compelling of the love interests so far, particularly because she's both clearly an active character AND conflicted about whether she should chase her usual instincts and pursue Tenichi when he's already interested in someone else

Ichi the Witch: When Desscaras and Kumugi fail to match Hisame's fashion sense, Ichi comes to the logical conclusion that the only answer is vore. While I'm sad that Kumugi isn't the star of this arc as I predicted, Ichi's out-of-the-box thinking is exactly what I was hoping for from this series, so I'm excited to see what he comes up with

Shinobi Undercover: Miyake, codename Tsubame, is revealed to be the underling to an even tougher fugitive ninja, Hachikuma; it's also revealed that Aoi's family was killed by a ninja. Yodaka's fear that Aoi will hate him if she finds out he's a ninja is an interesting wrinkle, but I do have to wonder if she actually KNOWS anything about ninjas in the first place

Hakutaku: When Zenji refuses to join the dev team, Noto very openly stalks him home; Hikuma, lacking in athletic ability, wanders in their general direction until he happens upon Zenji's sister, Mizuki; Zenji's sad backstory about his dead brother is revealed; a bitter woman bans children in a PUBLIC PARK from playing games that involve balls, so Hikuma resolves to make a game that she can't object to. I feel like I'd be more compelled by this if I understood why this woman has any say or power here, but at least we should get a clearer idea of Hikuma's design sense with this ball-less dodgeball game

Ruri Dragon: Ruri has a heart-to-heart with Kamata, the girl who bullied her, and Kamata cites her lack understanding of Ruri as a major point in her behavior; in particular, the idea that she's the child of bestiality strongly unsettles her. A nice, if unrealistic, little bit of catharsis for resolving tension with a bully; the student council wearing horns was adorable

If I had a nickel for every time they said the word "bestiality" in this week's Jump...technically I'd only have one nickel, since Ruri Dragon runs in Jump+

That actually brings up a question: do y'all think I should keep including Ruri in these reviews? It's from Jump originally, but it moved to + due to the author's health; is it too far removed to include, or too closely related to exclude?

Today i'm continuing on in Lamentations, we will be going over chapter 2. I will write down anything that stuck out to me, how the Lord may have used the word to talk to me and what i learned!

"Like an enemy He has strung His bow; His right hand is ready" Lamentations 2:4

We have a modern day saying that comes from the Bible. In Romans 8:31 "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" This verse in Lamentations shows us the exact opposite. Which is, If the Lord is against you, then who can be for you? Jerusalem has reached out to all of her allies and all they did was betray her, she has been overtaken and left deserted, her enemies are parading about that the great land has fallen. Jeremiah attempted to warn them of this downfall, he told them of his visions, and they rejected them and only believed in the ones about prospering. One thing that we need to understand about God, is that yes, He is loving and kind! He is also just and righteous; if we continuously disobey Him and His word, He has the right to get onto us and deliver His judgement as He sees fit!

"The law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the Lord." Lamentations 2:9

"The spiritual institutions had also failed and could give no help. There were no faithful priests to teach the law, and the prophets were silent." (Enduring word.) If they already weren't following the laws set by God, how will they be doing now that the man-made laws are gone? Jerusalem must be in complete and utter chaos, there are no reliable leaders, she has no help, the people and children are starving, it's a warzone. It just goes on to make you think, why was it so much easier for them to follow man-made laws and to ignore the commandments from the Lord? For me, i think it's because they had a whole museum full of excuses to run from the Lord. That's one of the reasons that Jeremiah's message was so successful, because he took away their excuses!

The leaders, the ones who are meant to lead them in the right direction, are in shock. They probably never thought that this would happen to them. That's a normal thought to have even nowadays, but that is also a form of pride. In their shock all they are able to do is mourn and lament! The second half of this sentence is where i actually learned a lot! One of the things i have been working on is to analyze any words that may have stuck out to me while reading. The ones that stuck out to me were dust and sackcloth, and then you look at the name of the book we are reading, Lamentations. So, to lament is to deeply grieve or to feel sorrow, that's what this whole book is about. So, the elders or leaders are lamenting or mourning in easier terms. Stick with me now, so the dust is also another sign of mourning. They are mourning Jerusalem, because in Genesis we were made from dust and one day when we die, we will return to dust. Everything, including Jerusalem came from dust, hence "from dust to dust." Now the sackcloth, represents mourning and humbling yourself. The whole second half of that sentence is just them reiterating the pain and sorrow they are feeling. They have absolutely hit rock bottom in all terms of the saying.

"The Lord has done what he planned; He has fulfilled His word, which He decreed long ago." Lamentations 2:17

God is the ultimate promise keeper, He never goes back on His word! Why would we doubt that He would fulfill His word, just because it was judgement? Why are so many Christians incapable of knowing that God can and will deliver judgement? that's just something to think about, because if we can't see God as a righteous judge, are we truly in relationship with God and Jesus, or in a relationship with God that WE made Him out to be?

🫶🏻 i was meant to post this yest evening, but i couldn’t, so i’m posting this a day late.

🫶🏻 yesterday started a little better! still didn’t do everything i would’ve wanted, but it’s more than monday. one step at a time!

🫶🏻 i was hanging out with my friends in the evening, so i went to sleep later than i planned, but i don’t actually mind it at all. it’s pretty hard for me to socialise sometimes because i’m an introvert, so i let that slide!

Trying to commit to a bible reading plan for 2024 but unsatisfied with all the ones that have ever been made by anyone else, so I'm working on a spreadsheet that's absolutely insane.

today i did my morning routine fully—except for, of course, my reading plan. i decided to talk to my mom instead. i finished sections 1/6 of english 3. i used YTP and i studied 4hr, 11m. since tomorrow is sunday, i’ll allocate a significant amount of time for my bible reading plan that im behind in. tomorrow’s quests:

• wash lights

• catch up in reading plan

• 2 liters of water

today work went pretty ok. i ate before hand (chicken/barbacoa salad with pico, sour cream and cheese). i’m glad i got so much studying in today. i did stretches in the morning as well. i really should workout and move my body more as i am very sedentary and i believe it is already having an affect on my health. tired and must go to church tomorrow—so, goodnight!!
