A/B/O Team Kakashi — Beta!Kakashi, Beta!Naruto, Omega!Sasuke and Alpha!Sakura:
Beta!Kakashi:
Kakashi was kinda panicked about the fact he had an A-B-O team, as it reminded him of his own team.
Kakashi started to pack-bond with Naruto by doing each-others hair once Naruto's start to grow long enough.
He had a very hard time aclimating himself to the kids scents and learning what each meant.
At first, he didn't want a team-pack, so he was originally planning on just getting them to a point where they're still good enough to stay shinobi, but that they'd eventually move them to another jonin sensei.
He started to grow attached during the D-rank missions, as his instincts eventually won out and he started to help a bit.
He grew concerned about Sasuke a bit, since his scent would sour whenever someone mentioned anything about being an Omega.
He gently nudged Sakura into being a 'Team-Alpha' through small comments/anectodas whenever she stared away from the boys.
He thought about them as his 'pups' at one point, even if he denies it.
Whenever he was at the hospital because of a stupid injury, he always thought about his pups.
Beta!Naruto:
Naruto was completely pissed off once he found out who his teammates were, because he feels like the only reason he's there is to be a buffer.
Naruto had an easier time accepting his feminine side, though he kept it hidden because people would make comments about his interest back when he was a kid, and people thought he'd be an Alpha.
Naruto would often keep himself to one side of Kakashi, as to create a barrier between him and his teammates.
The first time he felt like him and Sakura were teammates, was when they were both left to clean an area up in a D-rank.
Naruto was surprised that Sakura started the conversation, even if it wasn't a topic he was interested in, he tried his best to participate.
He liked being able to, eventually, style Sakura's hair as it made it feel like they were actually friends to him.
When he came back from training with Jiraiya, him and Sakura immediately wrestled each other to the ground.
Alpha!Sakura:
Sakura suffers an incredible amount of insecurity about her femininity once she presented as an Alpha.
Sakura had a fear of exploring both her more masculine side and her Alpha side, as her parents never expected her to be either.
Sakura was devastated when her parents started to treat her differently, their expectations of her changing drastically in a way she couldn't understand.
Her first time rutting was hell because she didn't know how to soothe it — as her parents had taught her only how to soothe a heat.
Sakura started to resent her femininity once she started to think that it was holding her back from becoming a shinobi.
She went through a heavy phase where she thought that, to be an Alpha, she needed to change everything about herself.
Kakashi put a stop to that, though it was really Tsunade who ultimately helped her through it.
She likes dragging Sai and Naruto shopping with her, as it took longer for her to patch her freidnship with Ino.
She kept her hair short because she preferred to style it then with small accessories, then she did when she had longer hair.
Omega!Sasuke:
Sasuke though that having an Alpha on the team would just slow him down even more than having the class dead-beat on his team.
Sasuke is hyper-masculine as a default, but people keep assuming it's something he's forcing on himself. It's not. He just isn't a feminine Omega, and that's fine.
Sakura's pheromones were an annoyance to him, especially as she didn't know how to control it yet
Heats were uncomfortable, as he didn't have anyone to teach him how to smooth it over.
He'd work himself to the bone constantly.
He sucked at maintaining a proper diet when younger, so it seriously tanked his stamina when he was starting out as a genin.
In his teen years, he'd just do constant training through his heat, even if his body was screaming for him to take a break.
He forgets to hydrate himself a lot, so he has constant migraines, and it's why he's in a sudden foul mood.

I have decided I am in fact desperate enough to write it myself sssoooo who's interested in brainstorming/editing/beta reading etc with me?
I started rewatching Naruto recently and my brain is filled with character study (thank you so much @meowticta for giving me the name of that tag/trope) of Kakashi exploring mental and physical disability and his relationships with people. I was thinking ANBU time.
I also want to do an iruka x kakashi thing but not like a main plot, I want it to be mostly about kakashi and while he finds ways to get closer to people he finds iruka being close in a different way. Or maybe kkiru being a totally separate fanfic so I can fully focus on the character study aspect.
I don't have a lot of ideas for specific plot but I know what I want to explore.
Obviously he's traumatized and in this time would be severely depressed, probably suffering from ptsd type symptoms, I'd like to include psychosis because I personally experience psychosis and its important to me that it's represented well.
I also see a lot of parallels to physical disability in him. His chakra depletion is a very fantasy equivalent of a chronic fatigue disorder, burning energy very very quickly and then need to recover for a long time. That's something a lot of physically disabled people relate to including me.
I think I want it to be 7-13 longer chapters with a cohesive story. Anyway if anyone is interested please feel free to reply or message me! Or if you don't want to continuously help but you have an idea you're more than welcome to just give that.
I'd also love to talk to partially blind people on how to write that. I know he's not technically blind but he can't use one eye like 90% of the time so I want to talk to people who are partially blind on how that can feel.

Interrupting Nap Time
Words: 1,841
Note: for National Napping day, but also for @jventureart who needs some cute Team Gai bonding moments <3
Four PM.
A perfect time to take a break from the grueling task of training until every single bone in his body ached and have a nap.
That was what Kakashi told himself when he realized he’d spent most of the day training, and he had every intention of having that nap. The only problem was no matter what he looked, he couldn’t find the one person he needed to ensure he had the perfect nap.
He wasn’t at the dango shop enjoying a nice treat, or at the BBQ place having an early dinner with his old teammates. In fact, when Kakashi saw Genma, Ebisu and Choza-Sensei sitting in their usual spot with an empty sit right beside Genma, he knew something was up.
Gai would never miss out on a free meal.
“Training field C!” Genma had called out to him when he noticed him standing at the doorway, a cheerful wave from Choza-sensei following his words. “He said he was meeting with his students for some extra training. Probably lost track of time.”
Turning on his heel, Kakashi waved back at them and headed straight back out the door.
Training field C was the field closest to Konoha’s gates and the best location for anyone who didn’t want to call attention to themselves. A spot that he had no doubt Gai choice because of Tenten and Neji.
Where Gai and Lee had no issue attracting a crowd to watch their over the top training regimes, Tenten and Neji often preferred a bit more privacy. That was something Kakashi noticed the first time he interrupted one of the team’s training sessions. Both of the genin’s had immediately ceased with their training, turning their full attention to him and had refused to continue their training until he left.
It was also an easy training field to get to. A twenty minute walk from the BBQ place for any regular villager and a two minute sprint over the village rooftops for Kakashi. Even with aching bones and a sense of fatigue hovering over him Kakashi found himself touching down in the centre of the field in no time at all.
               There was only one problem.
“So much for your help.” he sighed as he looked around at an empty field. The wooden polls that Gai loved to use to hone his and his students balance were empty, and there was no one throwing kunai or any other sort of weapon at the dummies beside them.
He was just about to give up when something in the corner of his eye caught his attention. A little glimmer of green tucked away amongst the tree’s, standing out among all the leaves because of its shade.
A vibrant, eye sore of green that could only belong to one thing.
“Ah,” turning toward the object he looked a bit closer. There, just past the treeline between two giant trees, Maito Gai sat with three very tired looking students piled on top of him. Lee was laying across the ground with his head on Gai’s left leg. Tenten sat in front of the tree on Gai’s right, her head propped up on Gai’s shoulder while Neji took the left side mirroring her position. All of them, as far as Kakashi could see, were asleep.
Too bad I came here instead of Sukea. He could have taken a picture of this for Gai.
Shaking that thought away, he rocked back on his heels. There were two paths he could take going forward. The first was to head straight for Gai and claim his own spot, most likely on the leg Lee wasn’t currently using as a pillow, and risk being seen by all three of Gai’s precious students if they woke up before him. The other, far more enticing, option was to simply head to his apartment and accept an empty bed and cold pillow as his afternoon napping spot.
“Home,” he decided, turning on his heel and preparing to head off. Before he could move, though, he found himself overwhelmed with a strange feeling. The feeling of eyes burrowing into his back.
Someone was watching him, and he didn’t need to turn around to know who it was.
“When did you wake up?” he sighed, turning back to face the offender and frowning when he was greeted with piercing white eyes. He had recognized the feeling of being watched and assumed it was Gai who’d noticed his presence and woken up.
Instead, it was Neji who stared back at him.
               “I’ll just-“
“Lay down,” Neji’s eyes closed once more, expressing the trust he had for not just his teammates, but Kakashi as well.
Kakashi simply stood there staring at the kid, his mouth hanging open in surprised. Out of all three of Gai’s students, Neji was the last one he ever thought would be inviting him to join on team nap time.
The kid was just about as closed off as Kakashi was when he was a teenager, and for good reason. The treatment he received within his own clan was enough to cause anyone to close their heart to anyone they interacted with. Yet, here Neji was opening himself up.
Allowing himself a moment of vulnerability not just with his team, which was already an impressive feat for a kid who’d only been training with them for four months, but with Kakashi as well.
“Huh,” closing his mouth, Kakashi watched the four resting shinobi for a moment. Lee, Tenten and Gai made no movements indicating that they were awake, but every few seconds Neji would crack his left eye open and stare at Kakashi for around three seconds before closing it once again. After the third time opening his eye, the Hyuga sighed, lifted his left hand, and pointed to Gai’s right leg.
The only free spot for a fourth person to lay their head down.
“Lay down,” Neji repeated, this time with a bit more force in his voice. “Before Sensei realizes you’re here and –“
Kakashi’s eye widened in a moment of sheer panic, and without thinking he raised both of his hands and quickly waved them in a downward motion. “Shhh,” his eyes darted toward Gai, watching his expression for any signs that he might have heard Neji.
There was a moment of panic when Gai’s eyebrows furrowed, but it quickly subsided when he settled back into a peaceful expression.
Dropping his hands, he sighed. “Don’t say things like that. He has a sixth sense for… you know.”
               Rivalry.
No matter how tired Gai was he would wake up at the mere mention of a competition, challenge, spar, or anything that was in any way related to their rivalry. There was even a risk in someone just saying Kakashi’s name, which Neji must have understood since he had skipped greeting him by name all together when he was usually more polite with his interactions.
“Well?” Neji glanced toward the open knee once more, clearly hinting at what Kakashi to do to avoid the exact scenario he’d just barely preventing Neji from initiating.
               There was no escape.
Neji had seen him, meaning if he didn’t give in and lay down with the rest of them Gai would be hearing about it and then he’d be receiving a lecture about the importance of bonding and sleep. Two things that he didn’t think needed to be mixed together, but which he had no doubt his friend would find a way to connect.
His shoulder dropped. “Fine,” he sighed, rolling his head back and staring up at the sky for a moment.
What did I do to deserve this?
Dragging his eyes away from the bright blue sky overhead, he focused on Gai and his students once more. Even with Neji wide awake watching him, the view hadn’t lost any of its cuteness. Perhaps it was because there was just an indestructible adorableness to seeing Gai cuddled up with his students, or the peaceful expressions on their faces.
Whatever it was, Kakashi couldn’t help but want a piece of it.
A moment of bliss where he could shut his eyes to the world and know that he was safe because he was with Gai.
Extracting his hands from his pockets he took the first step toward the sleeping pile of shinobi, and then another step, and another, until he found himself hovering over them. From his spot Neji continued to watch him, those glassy white eyes burrowing into his soul in a way only Gai and Rin had ever managed to do before.
               “You really are…”
“Bothersome?” Neji huffed as he relaxed back into Gai’s shoulder and finally closed his eyes once again.
Shaking his head Kakashi lowered himself into a squat right in front of Tenten. The urge to poke her in the side of the head, but he refrained. Waking her up would only cause him more troubles and he already had one sleepy student of Gai’s getting on his case.
               He didn’t need two.
Taking one last look at the team, he couldn’t help but smile. During his short conversation with Neji, Tenten had turned her face into Gai’s shoulder so that half of her face was now covered and Lee had turned onto his back and interlocked his fingers on top of his chest in a position that looked far too similar to a dead person who was about to be buried.
Shoving that thought away, Kakashi allowed himself to collapse into the ground in just the right way so his head landed against Gai’s leg with a gentle thud. As soon as he had done that, Gai’s right hand came up and settled straight into his hair. His index finger even rubbed against Kakashi’s scalp a little, causing Kakashi’s left leg to kick out against the ground just slightly.
Not enough to wake anyone, but enough for Neji to open his eyes once again.
               “Did you just-“
“Shut up.” Kakashi grumbled, adjusting himself so that he was a little more comfortable and settling into his new position. He no longer had a clear line of sight to Neji from his new position, but he didn’t need to see the teenager to know that he was smiling.
If it were him who’d just seen an Elite Jonin of Konoha kick his leg like a happy puppy getting his skitches, he would also be smiling as he tucked away that mental image into his memory banks.
That was a problem for later Kakashi to deal with. Right now, the only thing on his mind was the comforting weight of Gai’s hand in his hair and the sound of birds chirping in the air and leaves rustling in the wind.
Before long Kakashi could feel that familiar wave of exhaustion washing over him, pulling him toward sleep. A feeling that he welcomed with open arms even though he knew he was never going to hear the end it from Gai’s adorable little students after Neji filled the other two in on what has just transpired.

Confession: Kakashi HatakexOC!Kaede
Description:  After years of friendship with the Copy Ninja, Kaede finds herself troubled. What will happen when the woman finally has enough, and how will her best friend, Kakashi Hatake, react? (I’m bad at descriptions, forgive me. This is also a scene from a series I was wanting to write but I don’t know if I’ll ever write the whole thing, I still think some of the scenes written for it though need to be shared.)
Characters: Kakashi Hatake, Kaede Inuzuka, Ami (Ninja Hound)
Kaede’s Character Sheet/Ami’s Character Sheet
Word Count: 1828
Warnings: none, fluffy, cute Kakashi, inuzuka!oc, be gentle with me I’m nervous,
The moon was oddly bright tonight, Kaede thought. She could see the shadows its full form cast down across the village as she wandered through the empty streets with Kakashi and her ninja hound, Ami. Ami stuck close to her for the most part, especially when there were still other people out and about but as it grew later the crowd thinned to zero and she started to explore, coming back to check in every few minutes before bounding off again. Kaede felt the hound’s golden gaze on her, Ami checking in on the kunoichi once again until her fingers ruffled through the brown fur. Content for now Ami brushed her head against Kakashi’s hand down at his side before trotting over to sniff at some trash cans nearby.
Kaede couldn’t help but have her heart warmed by her ninken’s actions, knowing that Ami was only checking in with her this frequently because she could sense the nervousness coming off the young woman. Really, she shouldn’t be surprised. Ami had been like that since the beginning. Though she was now a giant wolf hybrid capable of destroying enemies with little effort, day-to-day Ami’s shy and almost self-consciousness was unique, always sticking close to Kaede’s side and if not her only following Kiba and now Kakashi. Using them as a shield from unknown people was natural as it eased her nerves. Kaede knew this fact for sure because just like her partner, the woman leaned on Ami for support when she wasn’t feeling confident enough.
Thankfully, not many knew this, always just assuming Ami stuck to Kaede’s side 24-7 because of her own nervous demeanor when the truth was, Kaede leaned on the animal’s support just as much. In fact, the only ones who knew were limited to Kiba and, now, her closest friend. There wasn’t much that escaped the Copy Ninja’s eye but if he had noticed the real reason for Ami’s behavior, he said nothing.
Instead, the pair walked on in silence, Kakashi’s hands shoved into his pockets since for once his book wasn’t in either hand. He looked around the dark village, watching Ami and smiling every now and then when the canine did something he found amusing. With Kaede on his right he didn’t have to turn his head to see her, watching her from his peripherals and letting the comfortable silence spread.
Kaede on the other hand stared out ahead but saw nothing, hands also in her pockets but she wasn’t as relaxed as her friend, her left coming out every few seconds to pull at her braid and the right clutching the leather bracelet she kept with her with white knuckles, thumb brushing over the braided material back and forth. It was when the moonlight hit a small puddle in their path from the rain earlier that day, shining into her black eyes that she focused her gaze. The smallest shake of her head she looked at her surroundings quietly until her gaze lifted and landed on the bright moon. Kaede stared, face washed in the cool white light, her feet stopped moving.
It took a couple steps for Kakashi to realize this and stopped as well, turning partially towards the woman, mentally debating on exactly what to say.
“Something wrong Kaede?” He calls, his voice getting Ami to perk her head up their way before continuing sniffing every fence. Though she still had her gaze focused on the moon, Kakashi could tell he jolted her out of her head. He didn’t know she had made up her mind.
“You and I are good friends, right Kashi?” Though he knew she was going to speak her voice still startled him, something telling him this wasn’t just a lighthearted question.
“I’d hope so,” he tries to jest, maybe to make her cheer up a bit. “Otherwise I’ve been a fool all these years.” Closing the distance he tried to hide his concern, her face still illuminated by the moonlight, bright enough to reveal freckles under the red clan markings on her cheeks.
“So I can tell you anything,” she finally met his gaze but the look she wore didn’t ease the feeling in his gut. “No judgment?”
Though her dark eyes were wide he knew she was serious. Kaede wasn’t often serious when she didn’t need to be so instead of asking the millions of questions in his head Kakashi decided to simply answer hers. “You can tell me anything.”
Kaede took a deep breath, her eyes closing for less than a second but when they opened something was different. For the first time he saw something like fear in them, her whole body was still and her face clearly forced into a relaxed expression. The way she looked at him, Kakashi couldn’t pull his eyes away, only managing to keep the part of his face showing calm.
“Kashi,” the nickname only she called him by holding an emotion he’d seen only once or twice before. “I care about you more than I have cared about anyone before. You’re…” she broke eye contact for a moment as she seemed to search for words, “special to me.” He knew what she was searching for when her eyes met his again, but it took everything in him to will his face into a calm, lighthearted mask.
“Kaede,” even saying her name was difficult so he tried again. “I’m no one special, Kaede.”
The vulnerable expression disappeared faster than it had come, her brows furrowing in frustration and eyes narrowed. “Kakashi Hatake, I may be falling for you, but I’m not falling for that shit.”
He nearly leapt back and away from the shinobi, “You. Are. Special. If no one else believe me when I say there is no other shinobi, man, or person that means more to me than you. And I’ll be damned if I can’t make you see it.”
Kakashi couldn't even get out her name before his back slammed into the nearby tree, its branches blocking out the only light. As he realized where he stood he realized the same spot both jonin had been standing was empty previously, and in that same moment a dark blur came forward and Kaede was there, inches from him.
Tilting his head down he met her eyes, the darkness of them searching for something, a reflection of hers in them. This time the shinobi had nothing to say, no words coming to mind but a clear question still there. No, this time all he could do was watch. Watch her as her hands reach up, taking his mask in them and pulling it down, under his jaw. Though her touch on his neck was light he felt her pull and met Kaede halfway, eyes fluttering shut.
If he expected for the kiss to be hesitant, which he hadn’t, Kakashi would have been wrong. This was Kaede. If there was one thing she wasn’t, it was hesitant. She dove in with all the passion he knew her to have, lips moving against his own, a force hard enough he could feel how chapped they were from her constant biting. What felt like both seconds and years later she pulled back, leaving him unable to open his eyes right away.
When he did he met the black of Kaede’s eyes, her face still close enough he could feel her breath on his skin. Taking a moment he saw that vulnerability was back, making her look so… human. Reminding him of the girl she was, the one he practically grew up with, the one he…
His brows pulled together, eyes curious as he searched her face. His gloved hands gently came to cup her cheek, the other feather light on her hip, all used to pull her to him once again. Eyes flickering from hers and her lips, Kakashi didn’t wait another second. Their lips met once more and it had a sense of urgency, moving together like they had been like this forever. As his hands secured themselves around her hips her fingers found his neck, tangling in the Copy Ninja’s wild hair.
Neither knew how much time had passed but reluctantly they parted for air, Kakashi refusing to let her go, his arms remaining around her waist. Both stood so close their foreheads pressed together, body heat shared.
“Why…”, he broke the silence, still gasping for air. “Why me?”
“Oh,” her smile was contagious as she laughed lightly. “For someone being able to see everything,” she tapped a finger to his left temple, “you sure are blind.”
It must’ve been the confusion on his face that caused her to laugh again. “Kashi, it was you the whole time.” Her dark eyes softened, hands holding his face, “It has always been you.”
A smile of his own twisted his lips up and he pulled the jonin in his arms closer once more, lips brushing.
Crash.
Kaede spun around so quickly Kakashi was surprised she was still in his arms. With all the energy surging through her Kaede was practically vibrating, leaving the man to hide his grin, and the revealed lower half of his face, in her hair. The shinobi was so ready to fight whoever had intruded on their moment that she only relaxed when her ninken trotted towards the pair, head down, ears and tail tucked looking as guilty as a dog could ever look.
“Ami,” she sighed. Kaede moved to crouch before the canine, letting her tuck her head into the woman’s chest so her hands could tangle in the thick brown fur of her shoulders. “What have I told you about messing with cats?”
The canine pushed deeper into Kaede, nearly knocking her over and just let out a deep ‘boof’.”
“My gods,” Kaede scoffed, “Ami you are not hungry enough to eat a cat.” With another indignant ‘boof’ Ami plopped to the ground. “Alright, we’ll get something to eat.”
Letting out an exasperated sigh, Kaede got to her feet so she could face the ninja once again, her tired expression transformed into a smile. “So,” she sidled up to him until she was against his chest, lifting her chin to see his face. While she spoke she casually set the black fabric back over his nose, tapping lightly. “How about we go somewhere less public? Somewhere this could come off and stay off?”
Kakashi didn’t miss the playful look in her eye, only faltering at another of Ami’s groans, “And, get some food.” She shook her head.
He smiled, “Of course, I know just the place.” Leaning forward he pressed his covered lips to her hairline, his smile so wide she could feel it before they separated. Taking a few steps back towards the street he turned back, holding a hand out towards her, “C’mon, let's get out of here.” She said nothing, but her wide smile was enough of an answer as she took his hand and let him lead her home.

The Hand That Feeds - Chapter 1: Because Dreaming Costs Money, My Dear
Category: Gen (For Now) Rating: T
Fandom: Naruto Pairing: (Undecided) Haruno Sakura-centric
Summary: Forced to leave home after her father's execution, Sakura must now survive the path of the shinobi while taking care of her brother at the same time.
(AKA: Sakura is an immigrant without any family save for her brother. Sakura meets Shisui. Sakura does not befriend Ino. She has no friendship to break over a crush she can't risk to have.) (Things change.)
Chapter One: Because Dreaming Costs Money, My Dear
(excerpt below the break)
In her mind’s eye, the girl could only see numerous bills laid out before her, and the amount of money she worked hard to earn. It was enough, but just barely so. They managed by living on scraps, because even that was a luxury.
Sakura wanted the best for Yuuji. She wanted him safe. She wanted to give him the world.
She wanted him to achieve his dreams — the ones Sakura never got to even dream about.
“Are you… sure, Yuuji?”
“I am, ‘Kura-nee.”
“Look at me,” she ordered softly. When the boy turned his head around, she pressed her forehead against his. A small smile appeared when her brother’s own wobbly lips stretched into a teary smile. “I’ll be very honest, ‘kay? Being a shinobi is really dangerous and hard, but if you want this really badly… I’ll… I’ll try.”
She would try.
Even if it meant that she had to stretch herself thin. Even if it meant she would have to pick extra shifts for several jobs, including clean-up at the brothel. She would do anything to make her brother happy.
“You will?”
“Yeah,” she breathed out. “It’ll– it’ll take a while. I’ll have to graduate first, okay? Then we can enrol you into the Academy. You’ll— you’ll be a little older than your classmates, but that’s alright.”

I seriously need to make some writer friends that I can share my ideas with. I'm a reader not a writer, and an editor at most. But I have so many good ideas for fics and I create so many characters that are actually quite good and I have no one to share them with, and no medium to showcase them with! I used to be a writer as a kid but I swear something happened I don't even know what and suddenly I can't write anymore, and any time I try I just get mad and give up because it's not flowing the way I want it to and it feels forced. I wish I had writer friends that I could provide them with a prompt and we could outline it together and they could write it and I could beta it... I swear we would be such a good team :( any writers (specifically for naruto !!) hmu please I promise it will be fun!!

Incredible canon-compliant rewrite where Kakashi and Iruka meet much earlier (kind of, you’ll see). And Kakashi has a long time cruuuuuuush 😜 the banter/flirting is really cute. The pacing and development of the relationship is so so good! The way the author gets into their heads is just great. Both 🔥 & heartwarming! ❤️

ABO Team Minato — Beta!Kakashi focuse:
Kakashi and Obito butted heads even more once Kakashi presented.
Kakashi presented a bit late for a Beta, which means his newly acquired instincts are much harder for him to control or understand.
Minato allowed him to start training by himself as they waited for the rest of the team to meet up — as physical exercise is an important part for instict assimilation.
Kakashi's nose became a whole lot sharper, which causes him to avoid Rin and Obito at first — as their scents were so potent that it would cause his instincts to rise and try to take over.
Gai almost immediately fought him the moment they met up post-presentation for Kakashi — as it's Gai's way to help Kakashi with his assimilation but also, to start bonding with the other Beta.
Kushina was so excited when she found out, and almost immediately started to drag Kakashi off to "teach him the way of a beta"
Kakashi secretly enjoyed the Beta bonding experiences he had with Gai and the rest, even if he's stubborn in showing it.
All of these things let up to Kakashi and Obito butting heads a lot more due to instincts and such.
Obito could tell something was different with Kakashi, but he couldn't pin point what
Kakashi was unwilling to accept Obito as his 'Team Alpha' and would rather try to knock him down as to avoid doing so.
Obito was bothered by the fact Kakashi could train.
Kakashi became a lot more annoyed with Obito being late.
Kakashi became accustomed to Rin's scent faster than he did Obito's, not only because Obito's would sour around him
But because Minato thought it would be a good way to have them bond by researching/talking about where Beta's and Omega's overlap
Rin and Kakashi actually start reading about scents and their medical-works as they both got interested in the topic.
Kakashi has a faded metallic and earthy scent to him when he's a kid.
It turned into an earthy and smokey wooden scent once he became Hokage.

Professor Hatake x reader
Tumblr media
Parings: Hatake Kakashi x reader
Reader Gender: They/them pronouns - AFAB
Genre: Smut - Minors do not interact
Other: University AU (Separated into years), Alpha Kakashi, Omega reader. Professor Kakashi, Student reader, Slight breeding kink, Marking, F/N (First name) over Y/N (Your name) used
Kakashi organized his papers that were strewn across the desk. He sighed, lining them up and preparing for the staff meeting. He made his way down the hall to meet with the other professors. Wandering in, only slightly late, he watched all eyes flick to him. Iruka gave him a disappointing look as he took his seat beside him.
“Now that all professors are present, let’s discuss the students. Is there any trends, concerns or issues arising?” Konoha was a small university, consisting of only 50 students in each year. This cohort of professors taught the 3rd years in their respective subjects, Iruka focusing on history, Gai in Physical education, Orochimaru in chemistry, there were more teachers, but he didn’t interact much with them. Kakashi himself taught biology, with a focus on how each of the different special gendered possibilities interacted with each other. A special interest of his was guessing which category each person fit into, Alpha, Beta or an Omega. Kakashi himself, being an Alpha could normally sense when other alphas or omegas were on heat, but there were no other known signs on how to tell in current research. His eyes swept the table, Iruka was a beta without a doubt. He’d known the man long enough to know he’s never gone into heat; he had barely taken a sick day. Gai was also an alpha, taking off 2 weeks every six months. Tsunade was… looking at him angrily.
“If we may steal just a moment of your attention, it would be greatly appreciated Kakashi.”
“Of course, the question?”
“The student F/N L/N has been missing for a week and hasn’t informed anyone. Do you have any idea of their whereabouts?”
“I can’t say I do, sorry.”
F/N L/N was an average student in his class. Not the best but far from the worst. Mostly came in and did their work before leaving for the next class. It wasn’t unusual for a student to take a day off here and there and not inform anyone, but a week without telling any professor was cause for some alarm. The students were adults, in their 20’s; by this point, they could handle their work fine. The greatest concern was that the majority lived alone and if they got hurt, they had no one to help them.
“Who has the least amount of classes for the day?”
Every professor around the table mumbled out their remaining classes. Kakashi was the only one without classes. Tsunade didn’t hesitate.
“Kakashi, come to my office after this meeting. I will provide you with F/N’s address and you are to go check on them and ensure their safety. “
There goes his afternoon. The one day he has a free slot to mark papers, taken by Tsunade’s wishes.
The meeting continued without further discussion on Kakashi’s behalf. There were no trends or concerns in his class, he wasn’t even sure why he had to attend these meetings. A better use of his time was to work on the next topic for the class.
Once the meeting had concluded, he followed Tsunade to her office. She shuffled around through the student paper, attempting to locate F/N’s file. She finally placed a file on the desk, a small picture of F/N on the front. He had to admit, if they weren’t his student, he would have found them at the very least, slightly attractive. Tsunade copied down the address on a sticky note, handing it to Kakashi.
“Just go make sure they’re okay. You can have the rest of the day off. Consider it a thank you for checking on them. Pack up and head over now.”
“I’ll tell you how they are on Monday.”
“Sure, have a good weekend Kakashi.”
Kakashi reviewed the note on the way to his office, it wasn’t far, a 20-minute walk, if that. At least he got an early Friday out of it.
Kakashi packed up his things, looking over at his half-written work. The work for the next lesson sat, glaring at him. ‘The effects of marking on Omegas’. An important topic for anyone looking to go into the research of alphas and omegas. Kakashi would have to finish it Monday, possibly read up on sources over the weekend to reference.
It wasn’t as if he had marked anyone himself. Most of the sources he read explained it as euphoric, a once in a lifetime feeling that could never be replicated. It was apparently something that came on instinct to mark when either the omega or alpha was in heat. Kakashi had specifically avoided that. He would never sleep with someone when they were on heat, after all, it could bring on his own. On his own heat, he would lock himself away. Marking was a bonded for life sort of deal, not something he was interested in.
As Kakashi walked towards his student’s house, he reviewed the topics he had covered so far. Most were surrounding the mating ritual research or lack-there-of. It was still so under researched. Lost in his thoughts, he had finally reached his destination. Walking up to the door, he raised his hand to knock.
There was a sweet smell drifting in the air. The smell was hard to explain. When F/N opened the door, the smell hit him like a ton of bricks. The pheromones of an omega, something he had smelt before but never this close. Kakashi could feel his instincts igniting at the scent.
“Professor Hatake?”
You stood in front of him. Your face was flushed and your lips looked unbelievably glossy. You stood in front of him in a long t-shirt and what he would hope was panties underneath.
“H-hello F/N. I just came by to check on you and make sure you’re okay.”
Your eyes looked glazed, and you seemed completely out of touch with reality. There was no denying that you were in heat. Kakashi tried to advert his eyes.
“’s okay, professor, you smell really good.”
You were definitely out of it and too far gone to think straight. Kakashi could feel his pheromones start to build as he stood in your presence. He had to leave, his heat would come on quickly standing in your presence and he could already feel the rush of lust heading straight down.
“Yes, well, now that I can see you’re safe, I should take my leave.”
You stepped out a little from behind the door catching his wrist. The jolt of excitement it sent through Kakashi was dangerous.
“Professor, why don’t you stay a little while?”
Kakashi looked at you, your eyes were half lidded now, a desire filled gaze looked down at the connected hands. You tugged Kakashi back a little, the smell from your apartment hit him again. He was losing all sense and allowed himself to be tugged into the apartment. He knew he fucked up when the door clicked behind him, but he had lost all will to fight against it.
You sat Kakashi on the couch, sparing only a single moment before seating yourself on his lap. Kakashi couldn’t stop looking at your face, your perfect lips, just begging to be kissed. Your eyes and the way they trailed down his body, almost filled with excitement when you saw the tightness of his pants.
“Forgive me professor, but I can’t help myself.”
You reached down, pulling down his mask and connecting your lips. The session between you two became a heated mess of tongues as you eased themselves to sit on top of Kakashi’s dick. He could feel your wetness soak into his pants. Kakashi grinded up into them, making you moan into the kiss. Finally pulling away for air, a trail of saliva connected your lips. Kakashi went straight for the neck, kissing and sucking on your sweet spots. Hands started to wonder and Kakashi gripped your right breast, feeling the smooth skin under his hand. The nipple was unbelievably hard for him, he knew you were horny, but he didn’t realise you were this desperate.
Kakashi broke away from your neck, seeing the red and purple forming where he had been a tad rough. He flipped their positions so that you were laying on the couch. Kakashi removed both of their shirts, finally getting the perfect view of your breasts. Kakashi didn’t waste a second, dipping his head to suck on your nipple. He reached his hand up to play with the other while you mewled underneath him. He could feel his dick twitch in anticipation at what was to come. He could only imagine the pre-cum that was leaking out of his throbbing erection. Kakashi released the nipple from his hand, chuckling a little at the annoyed noise you made. His hand trailed slowly down, slipping past the elastic of your panties. He could feel how wet you were for him. His hands hadn't yet found their way inside of you and they were already slippery with your arousal.
When Kakashi finally slipped a finger in, he heard a groan of pleasure. He moved his mouth to the other nipple, leaving a trail of saliva before slipping another finger in. He pumped slowly in and out at first, his fingers curling while inside, trying to find the perfect spot. That didn’t last long as you started grinding on his fingers, trying to gain more friction, more movement, more of him.
“Patience baby, I promise to stuff you full of my cock soon.”
Truthfully, it was taking everything in Kakashi to not just do it now. His heat response had kicked in enough that he needed to fuck you into oblivion but not enough to forgo ensuring you were prepped enough to handle him.
Removing his fingers, he scissored them, watching as your arousal connected between the two digits. Kakashi brought them to his mouth, sucking them clean.
“You taste so good F/N. If you feel even half as good, I won’t be able to stop myself from fucking you all night.”
Kakashi reached down to remove your panties, sniffing the pheromones off them before flinging them away. He didn’t hesitate, moving to free his erection next. He watched a little as you sat up, eyeing his dick as it sprung free. Kakashi removed the rest of his clothing before spreading the pre-cum over his length. He knew he was decently sized, a bit on the girthy side and he could see in your eyes the excitement build.
Kakashi moved his length between your folds, gathering your arousal before lining himself up. When he finally thrusted in, he lost all control. He pounded his way in, all the way to the hilt. He could just hear you moan mix with his own. Kakashi wasn’t escaping this, he was going to keep fucking you until he knew you were pregnant with his child. Until you were so filled with his cum that you became swollen.
Kakashi started moving and he was sure he was seeing stars. The way your velvety walls suck him in and clenched around him, the sound of your arousal coating his dick, creating a squelch every time he moved back in. He was sure this was heaven. Kakashi reached down to your clit, thumb rubbing in circles as you squirmed underneath him. The pleasure was almost unbearable, the mix of all the sensations drove him wild. When you reached up and dragged your nails across his back, his body reacted pleasingly.
Kakashi couldn’t stop himself from thrusting, pulling out to the tip and going back into the hilt. The thrusts were hard and fast. He used his free hand to pin your hip to the bed to stop you from moving. Your walls were clenching more, and he could smell how close you were to climaxing. Kakashi moved his thumb faster on your clit and when he felt your walls fluttered and clamp on his dick, the urge to mark you came. Kakashi had never felt like this before, he wanted it forever. He was so close to cumming, you were under him, begging for more, a steady flow of ‘don’t stop’ and ‘fuck me harder professor’ spilling from your lips.
“’m going to cum. I’m going to fill you up with my seed. You’re going to get pregnant for me. Is that what you want baby? You want to carry around your professor’s baby?”
Kakashi heard you choke out a ‘please Kakashi, fill me up’ between sobs of pleasure. At the sound of his name, he was cumming. He pushed himself in as far as he could go, making sure that his cum reached your womb. Kakashi slowed down slightly to milk himself inside you. In a moment of weakness, he reached up to your shoulder, biting hard and pushing out pheromones. He was still riding his high, too engrossed to care that he marked you.
Even after cumming, Kakashi still wasn’t satisfied. He was still rock hard. Seeing his mark on your shoulder only pushed to further his need to breed you like his perfect cum slut. You also continued to rock your hips against his, begging for a round two.
Kakashi happily obliged, fucking you again and again. Time wasn’t a factor of consideration, the only need Kakashi had was to continue filling you to the brim with his seed.
When Kakashi finally gained some control back over his body, it was morning. His mind was foggy and his mouth was dry. The nausea raised in his throat not long after, he struggled to get out of bed and make it to the attached ensuite. His legs felt like jelly, the only way he could hold himself up was by leaning on the sink. Kakashi dry heaved but nothing came up. Looking in the mirror, he had purple blooming across his skin. He had fucked up. He had royally fucked up. You were his student. He fucked his student.
The dizziness set in and he made his way back to the bed he woke up in. No more then two minutes later, there was a small knock at the door before it opened. Your head popped through. When you saw him, you brought a tray of food and water into his view.
As much as Kakashi was thankful for the water and food, he could see the purple marks moving up your neck from under your clothes.
“Are you feeling better Professor?”
Kakashi nodded, unsure of his voice.
“Can I ask a couple of questions? Like when you got here? Or why you came?”
“I came Friday to check up on you as you hadn’t been attending classes. What day is it?”
“Sunday.”
Two days. Two fucking days. He had lost control of himself for the whole weekend. He knew that being in heat with an omega could be bad, but he didn’t expect this bad.
“Um, professor? I have one more question.”
Kakashi raised his eyes to you, prompting you to speak. He watched as you rolled down the neck of your shirt to expose your shoulder.
“Is this a- um- a mark?”
Kakashi had severely fucked up this time. There was no going back. A mark. For life. The pheromones in that would make them bonded for life. All the research papers told him he would never be able to fall out of love with them once the mark was placed and the feelings grew. He’s fucked. He fucking came in them. How would he explain this to the school? How would he explain it to their parents.
“Professor, your breathing has gotten pretty bad. Did you need some water? What’s wrong? Is it a mark?”
Kakashi nodded. He watched as their face faltered before dropping. He watched as they went through the motions of acknowledgement, feeling everything in a mere 30 seconds.
“Well, I suppose there’s worse people to be bonded to, right Professor?”
At least he knew they could see the bright side.
“I hope you keep that same positivity for when the baby comes F/N.”
“The w-what?”

obito accidentally wakes up said crunchy grandfather and is like “oh sorry you probably didn’t want me to wake you,” and his dearest grandfather, about to make the biggest mistake of his life, tells him that “nobody wants you waking them from their good dreams,” with the meaning of calling obito real annoying. unfortunately, obito takes it differently, and a plot is born.
the entire naruto series is angsty self-insert rpf fan fiction obito wrote while he was stuck in the cave with his long suffering grandfather. it’s true. he told me himself.

I plan to write three parts, but i'm not sure if i can work up the courage for the angsty ones, so consider this a complete piece for now :3]

dad who stepped up (from the shadows)
obkk | omegaverse | absolutely unserious (aka crack fic) | maybe part of a series | i don't have a beta and I'm not native speaker
A visit to Konoha leads Obito unwillingly (and secretly) back into Kakashi's life. or Obito have a mental breakdown when he finds out Kakashi is not a virgin.
For Obito, there were three absolute truths.
First, this world is rotten and needed of fixing.
Second, in this rotten world, only mercy the gods bestowed upon mankind was that Madara Uchiha never spread his genes.
Third, but not less important, Kakashi Hatake was a virgin.
He turned out to be wrong about all of those. It took him a long time to acknowledge his mistakes.
It started with a visit to Rin's grave.
Which was something that Obito didn't do in a while. Ever since the massacre, then when he was forced to be around Konoha for a while, he focused in other countries. It was not as if governments would collapse on their own—well, they sometimes did, but he didn't have time to wait for it.
He couldn't say he had a bad time last time he visited his birthplace. A lot happened, like visiting his late grandmother's favourite cafe which somehow led him to lose his virginity with a hot omega brunette named Sukea—which was completely unexpected, but definitely worth it.
It was not that Obito missed Konoha, he didn't. He simply wished to pay his respects to Rin. And his parents. And granny, because Obito was under the impression that the Tsuki no Me plan wouldn't be an excuse good enough to ignore her. Again, not that Obito was afraid of his grandmother, but he didn't want to have her haunting him anytime soon.
Granny had been a lovely woman. With a deadly glare Obito could still see if he closed his eyes.
These many reasons led him to Konoha once again.
He had a pleasant time talking to Rin and his parents and spent a good share of time explaining to granny why he had been absent for so long. Then, like all good things in his life, it was ruined by Kakashi Hatake.
First thing that came to Obito's mind when his former teammate showed up was: the audacity. Something inside of him boiled as he watched Bakashi approach Rin’s grave, but Obito wasn't that quick-tempered boy anymore, so he retracted and hide, so he could watch the scene—and complain about it for weeks later, though Obito wouldn't admit it to nobody.
Well, turned out he was about to have something worthy talking about. Because the scene that followed gagged the Uchiha so hard it almost brought up to surface his past fiery self, and he had to stop himself from gasping out loud.
Calmly, with short steps, Kakashi walked in, hands in his pockets and his usual jounin attire. Midway, he stopped. Obito's heart jumped in his chest, had he forgotten to hide his presence? Had he just blow up everything he did so far because he checked out Kakashi's butt for a second?
The answer came a second later.
“Mochi, aren't you coming?” Mochi? Who he thinks you're calling mochi, Bakashi? I'll show you the moc-
Obito didn't show him the mochi. Good thing, it'd be a drag to destroy years of work because he misunderstood Kakashi. Instead, the mochi showed itself.
Again, that almost made thirteen years old Obito Uchiha jump out of his chest to point and scream. Because the image was shocking. See, the thing about Kakashi is that it was much easier hating him when he wasn't followed by a pocket sized, round faced and wide-eyed tiny human being that had every reason to be called mochi.
Hell! That little sweet looking bunny was literally the cutest thing Obito had ever seen in his life! And he had been one of the first people to held baby Naruto, who was freaking cute with those whiskers! Yeah, Obito did kind of technically made little Naru an orphan, but it was unrelated to his appreciation of Minato-sensei and big sis Kushina's exceptional talent in making babies. He did held the “owwwnnn” during that even, like he was doing right now.
There weren't enough words to describe that girl's overload of cuteness! Gods! She walked kind of wobbly, but that might have something to do with the huge bouquet she was holding in her tiny hands—it was half her size, and wider than her, but sweet little mochi walked bravely with it. Her eyes revealed an absolutely unbothered nature, which hit Obito right through his heart. Her short dark hair flowed with the wind, and there was only one thing keeping Obito from dying of overdose of loveliness.
The fact that the girl wore a goddam mask.
Damn! It was like putting a pig costume on a puppy! Wait... No... Now that he was imagining it, a puppy in a pig costume was kind of cute too... Hm... Well! Obito could see the shadow of a pout in that little girl's face, and that god forsaken mask was preventing him from having this image, which for some reason made Obito absolutely mad. He growled slightly, then stopped himself. Weird. Usually, those secondary gender dynamics didn't take the best out of him. As a very late bloomer, he was used to keep the alpha quiet, which was good—that dude was crazy, even for Obito, you wouldn't think the things he made Obito think about late at night.
Yet, something about Kakashi and the little masked girl together made Obito's alpha really upset. Inside of Obito, that dude was making a weird dance as he gesticulated and screamed, good thing Obito turned the deaf ear to him—what could he possibly be saying that was important?
Only one thing mattered right now: who, in their right state of mind, would let a child alone with Friend Killer Kakashi? Even for Konoha's standards it was crazy, Obito doubted even the Sandaime would be obtuse enough to let it happen. Who were that girl's parents?
Obito's alpha did a double twist carp and landed in a split. Weird guy. Obito ignored him.
He put his hand on his chin, wondering who could possibly have sired such a sweet looking kid. Obito had set his eyes on that girl for one minute and a half and he had no doubts whatsoever that no cuter child has ever walked on Earth—nobody he knew could've produced her, they were all either murderers or losers or dead.
Obito's alpha drew the face of the cute brunette he met fiver years ago. Yeah, he had the potential, but that guy was too nice to even breath the same air as Kakashi, let alone allow his kid around him. No, it had to be someone else... Someone dumb... Someone dumb like...
“Aren't you late to meet your genin team, dada?”
... Like Kakashi, obviously!
That explained everythi—
WHAT. THE ACTUAL. FUCK.
World stopped spinning for a second. Obito almost fell from the tree he was hiding in.
Once again: What the actual fuck?!
Now, reformulating his past question: who was the idiot who had a child with Kakashi of all people?!
Not that he was judging (he was). It was just that... It’s Kakashi! How did he get long enough around someone to get them pregnant? And even if he did... Who?
Obito growled, picturing himself digging his teeth into an unknown throat until it's owner bled to death.
...Weird. Maybe it was Konoha's air. It always made him a little uneasy, like there was some strange scent in the air he couldn't quite tell but made it denser and hard to breathe. He should leave. Yeah, that was what he was supposed to do. He had people to kill, governments to overthrown, terrorist acts to commit in the name of the greater good. He did important things now, he couldn't keep up with the gossip in his former village.
Yet, he didn't move from the branch of the tree he had landed.
Obito had his sharingan activated, which meant that scene would be forever engraved in his mind. He wishes that girl wasn't wearing any mask, which made his heart twitch in a weird way, as if he had been stolen of something important, he was entitled to. His alpha was doing flips in the back of his mind. Weird guy...
Kakashi's little daughter—God, that was crazy to say—walked toward the grave with her giant bouquet. She put it in the ground and closed her eyes, as if in a silent prayer. Even though Obito couldn't see her face, he noticed the twitch of Kakashi's face's muscles, and he knew he was proudly smiling. For some reason, Obito liked that. He grits his teeth. He should definitely leave.
“Aunt Rin, it's me.” The little girl spoke, her voice had the same sleepy pitch as Kakashi's, and for a child that age she spoke rather clearly. She couldn't be older than four, Obito noticed, and something started to ring in the back of his mind. “Dada’s genin team passed the bells test. It's the first time it happens.” So... Kakashi was becoming a team leader. Was it a good idea? “He said there's only one more thing they need to do to get his approval.” Of course, he will do anything to run from responsibility. “They need Horin's approval.” Horin... Who even is Horin? Was it Kakashi's partner? Good, it'll make easier to track them and ki— “And I intend to give it to them. Horin always wanted big siblings!”
Ho... Rin.
The world went silent. It was her name. The little mochi.
It was Kakashi's daughter name. Horin. The audacity. He—
That stupid little—
Kakashi chuckled. It was so... sweet. And genuine. One of his hand caressed Horin's dark hair. Obito’s lips trembled, and he at once bit it. He wasn't sad, he told himself. Just mad. Mad because that... That Kakashi had a child with someone else and was bold enough to name that child after the girl he killed.
She looks so sweet... Look how she smiles with her eyes...
Kakashi don't deserve her. I should take her and raise her as my own.
Uh... Never mind.
His alpha knocked his head against an imaginary wall until he opened a hole in it.
Obito closed his hands in a fist.
“Don't be so sure you'll like then, how can you tell they're not annoying?” Kakashi inquired, picking up the little girl.
“Horin could do it in spite of you, for not giving her older siblings.”
Kakashi blushed inside his mask.
“Mochi, I was too young to have kids before you!” He said as he turned his back from the grave and walked away.
“I don't want to hear excuses, dada.” And like that, they disappeared amongst the trees, leaving Obito with the dreadful newfound knowledge that Kakashi had a kid.
Maybe Obito was hyperventilating, but it was just due to the weather in Konoha. After all, who cared if Kakashi had a kid? Like, not Obito. Not at all. It wasn't important in any way, and as soon as his body went back working Obito would return to his very important world domination agenda to never think about it again.
Yeah, he was about to leave at any moment.
So, Obito invaded a public building and was now going through top secret files.
Ok, those weren't top secret. But it was a public building. The hospital.
One never knows who he'll find looking through birth certificates of clan kids, right? There might be some juicy information to help him on his plans. Surely there was. Oh, so many interesting births. Maybe some kekkei genkai that could be useful? Yeah... Like... Oh, who knows? Hatake's white chakra? Oh, what is it? If it isn't Horin Hatake's birth certificate! What a coincidence! He might just leave it there, you know, there are plenty of...
Oh.
OH?
Obito brought the piece of paper the closest as possible from his face. He might've read it wrong.
He definitely did. This, or the doctors were absolute incompetents.
He turned the paper down, as if something would happen. He put it against the light, hoping to reveal a secret. He squished his eyes, because maybe he had developed myopia in the past few years and had read it wrong.
No, this can't be...
Obito dramatically slashed the paper against the table. He turned his back to it and raised a feet to leave. He couldn't stand any longer this Kakashi nonsense. Of course, everything about him had to be upsetting, and Obito was way to old for that shit,
He turned on his heel and picked on the paper again, activating his sharingan.
There wasn't a mistake. Unless someone had really messed up and written it wrong, which was unlikely because Kakashi himself probably had read that and wouldn't simply leave it with incorrect information. No. It was plain and clear. There was a signature in it. A fucking signature. It was an official document.
It read exactly what Obito thought it read.
Name: Horin Hatake.
Mother: Kakashi Hatake.
Father: Unknown.
Obito wasn't sure about which one of these shocked him the most.
He stared into the wall in absolute silence for five minutes. That wasn't a joke, he literally stood there for five minutes until a ninja entered the room and he freaked out and yeeted them into the Kamui. Great, he wasn't even planning killing someone that day! See what you just did, Kakashi? You killed someone!
That lying... that filthy... that...
Ugh! He couldn't even curse him anymore! His grandmother's ghost would come for him if he ever spoke an ill word against an omega. Omega! Kakashi... an omega! Obito could only remember all the times he was inappropriate around his former teammate.
He was so done. His granny would die again if she learned of it. He cursed (multiple times) in front of an omega! It was not that Obito thought badly of them, he didn't think omegas were any lesser in any way. But his grandmother was a traditional old omega lady who went through a lot. She raised him in a way in which you don't even invade an omega's personal space without humiliating yourself to them first to make sure it is okay to breath their air. Obito did much more than just invade Kakashi’s personal space...
Oh, no... Did Kakashi told his grandma how they talked to each other in a daily basis? Was she struck with disappointment and died of disgust? Did Obito accidentally kill his own grandma?
One thing was becoming a worldwide criminal, but killing his own grandma was a completely different level!
Obito looked to the dead body of the teen he had just cancelled off life. He walked past them and sat on the ground, taking off his mask as he went through all the apologies he could say to his grandma in a prayer. “I failed you grandma... I'm just like any other alpha who mistreats omegas! I'm so sorry! Please don't come pull my feet at night!”
The teenager moaned on the ground.
“Aren't you dead already?” He grunted before throwing a fireball at the Konoha ninja, then returning to his muttering. “Oh, my poor grandma... What would you think of me, now?” He hid his face in his hands.
Even though it was known early on he was an alpha, Obito had been extremely slow in growing into it. Different from guys such as Asuma or Ibiki, he didn't enter puberty as a tall and broad boy whose voice made other teens swoon. According to the doctors, it was completely normal and healthy, that the expectations for early maturations were unrealistic and based off old beliefs that more traditional people liked to spread in order to reinforce gender norms. Still, it was kind of annoying being the dead last even when it came to hormones, so it wasn't as if Obito was trying to bring up everyone's secondary gender.
Yeah, he assumed Kakashi was an alpha, what about it? Maybe they were similar in something, maybe he wasn't alone in this late puberty thing, maybe everyone's perfect genius also struggled with voice cracks! Ok, Kakashi was younger than him, but only slightly, and maybe Obito completely ignored it for his own delusions.
While alpha’s ruts (doctor's words) were expected to come around fifteen to seventeen in healthy conditions, heats usually came earlier for omegas. Around twelve or fourteen, something like that. Which meant that Obito probably wasn't around anymore when Kakashi had his first heat, and therefore he couldn't smell that Kakashi was an omega before, which led Obito to assume...
Well, Kakashi never said anything about his secondary gender, and it wasn't anyone's business to ask. But with an attitude like that, no wonder why thought he was an alpha boy. Why else he’d be so infuriating for Obito's slowly developing alpha?
But no... Turned out Kakashi had been an omega this whole time. He had been in the ANBU... He had been a ninja for so long... From such a young age... Oh, gods. It only got worse.
There was an “Unknown" below Horin's name. Unknown father... Someone had... With Kakashi.
Obito didn't know what was worse: little Horin being the result of a honeypot mission or little Horin having a deadbeat dad. Kakashi had been twenty-one when she was born, which thankfully wasn't as young as it could've been. Contraceptives could fail, of course, but Obito had a hard time imagining Kakashi deciding to keep a pregnancy from a mission. With the sort of mission, he probably was given, Obito wouldn't even be surprised.
Which meant...
There was a sudden murder feeling growing from Obito's gut to his throat, cutting through his body like a kunai. The sharingan activated again. Someone had abandoned Kaka— Horin. Obito shouldn't care, but simply picturing someone refusing to be in that little mochi's life made him burn of rage.
His alpha screamed in his shoulder. “Shut up! I'm trying to think!”
Gods... If only Minato-sensei had been ali—Well, let’s not think of it.
One thing for sure, if Minato-sensei had been alive, he would've hunt down this deadbeat father and skinned him alive, then he'd sell his organs in the dark market and give Kakashi the money from it. As he should.
Obito took a deep breath. He thought of his grandmother, who had raised a son entirely on her own, and then a grandson. She had been ostracized and segregated for years in her own clan. This world was cruel. Specially with omegas, and until this world was fixed, Obito had no choice but do the right thing. What Minato-sensei and granny would've wanted of him.
Even if from the shadows, he was not letting Kakashi down. Even if he was a friend killer who Obito hated. Little Horin had nothing to do with her mother's past crimes, she was a little pack of happiness and sunshine and Obito would kill whoever crossed her path and made her suffer.
He had no idea why it felt so personal. Really. He had the impression he was letting something slide. His alpha was moving his mouth frantically, but Obito knew better than to listen to those weird instincts that turned mankind into savages.
Obito was sure of two things. First, he had to find this deadbeat dad and make sure he suffers till he begs for forgiveness. Two, Horin was his responsibility. He would do everything in his power to keep her safe and happy.
Maybe he should kidnap her or something.
OMAKE
Obito had never been inside a Jashinist temple. It was pleasantly clean, which was surprising considering their practices. He approached the priest, and after a short talk, the guy reassured him that no sin was beyond Lord Jashin's forgiveness.
Obito didn't believe in Jashin, but after his recent discovering, he decided he needed to confess himself. Otherwise, he wouldn't be capable of sleeping at night.
So, with a heavy heart, and after a long breath, he mumbled. “I might've indirectly caused my grandma's death.”
There was a moment of silence.
Next thing he knows he is running from jashinists who are screaming insults against him.
What a way to finish a rough day.
So, I kinda created this fic in 2020 after I read another fic. Unfortunately, I have the bad habit of reading fanfictions and not bookmarking them, which means I don't know which fic was that, but the concept is the same: Obito finds out he has a kid with Kakashi. Difference is that this one is absolute crack going off vibes (I mean, I haven't rewatched the anime or reread the manga recently, I'm just trying to have fun and enjoy one of my favourite ships of all time), and the fic that inspired me was exceptionally well written and angsty. Well, there is some lore to it (that I recycled from other fics I never properly wrote) and supposedly this should be part of a series, but I won't promise anything.
In the beginning, it was a fem Kakashi, which could've worked for the story, but I went with omegaverse with this one because... Why not... But I have a old art of it. My art style has completely changed ever since, but at least my girl Horin looks cute. Well, if you read this, thank you. Hopefully I'll work other parts of this story, but who knows...

Kakashi and Nanami are each other's favorite coworkers
Tumblr media
art credit: @uintuva
Modern Tokyo
content: 18+ (mdni), bullet point format, some dark humor, descriptions of smut, brief drinking, hurt/comfort, platonic intimacy, mentions of depression, intern!Team Kakashi and intern!JJKids, coworkers to best friends, not beta read this is just for fun
note: The first time I had this thought, it ended up a lot more angsty than I actually planned for it to be. this version was what I had in mind the first time around but given how I set the initial one in the Naruto world I couldn't NOT be emo about it so this is my apology. especially to @honeylavendr and @mytanuki-kun 😅
When Nanami was first hired as the new department bookkeeper, he knew he'd hate it the moment his boss yelled out his introduction to the entire office and made everyone applaud him.
The irritation on his face must have been evident because as soon as he starts internally debating the pros and cons of not killing himself right then and there, a grey-haired man around his age pats him on the shoulder and gently directs him to his desk away from everyone else.
Kakashi: They're a little boisterous, but harmless. I'm Hatake Kakashi. Welcome to the team, desk partner~
Nanami...doesn't know what to think about him immediately. It's hard to read someone when they have an eye patch and a face mask on. He tries to thank him and introduce himself properly but all of a sudden he hears this grating voice---
Satoru: NANAMIIIIIN! Did my dearly beloved cousin already steal your attention away??
Sasuke, Kakashi's new intern and already unable to help himself: He's related to this loser?
Maybe death was the better option
At least Kakashi was handsome
He settled into his role over the years, but his attitude about work stayed the same: he was grumpy and impatient towards his peers, yet kind and gentle with the interns that passed through.
Though he'd never admit it to anyone (or himself), he was fond of them -- especially Yuji.
Sakura, Ino, and Nobara were the office's designated gyaru and had more fun finding ways to make their boring work outfits more to their style, but nobody ever said anything because they were also the best at their respective jobs.
The accounting executive chief Mei Mei and the CCO Jiraiya did a shit job hiding the fact that they were into each other. It creeped everyone out, but they minded their business. Anything to keep that man away from the younger girls.
Oh wow turns out the new neighbor that Nanami never got to greet was Kakashi! How'd that happen? (pure coincidence, wildly enough)
Ever the grump that hates having work near his home life, he hates it at first, but he got used to it. Every so often when watching Kakashi walk into his own house, he'd try to sneak a peek of Kakashi's face as he took the mask off. He'd never been successful, but he figured it was only a matter of time.
5am shirtless jogging in grey sweatpants.
Kakashi typically wears a hoodie but Nanami opts to go shirtless depending on the season. Not that Kakashi is complaining. How can he when he has the perfect opportunity to drag behind a little bit just to watch Nanami's arms flex and his ass bounce as they jog?
boioioioioing
Every so often they come across Gai, who's somehow more rowdy than the interns, and they automatically know to get ready for a long-distance race to whatever he decides is the finish line.
Most of the time, Nanami rejects and puts his earbuds in to occupy his attention while watching Gai and Kakashi race.
One time he didn't reject the offer. Stoic as he was, Kakashi caught the slight smirk on his face as he braced himself to run. As soon as he heard the word go, he shot off faster than a bullet.
Gai and Kakashi were mildly surprised that Nanami was hiding all of that athleticism the entire time, but that surprise quickly turned to excitement.
The race ended with a tie for him and Kakashi, and Gai was left sulking that he'd been beat again.
Company parties are lit!!! It's the one chance everyone gets to take the day off of working and just relax at a privately rented bar. Kakashi was reluctant to go to the upcoming one, but Gai, convinced him. Maybe Nanami would be there?
Wait what
He was, much to the man's own irritation. Something about needing to stay in good standing with the company, needing to relax, etc.
fuck capitalism and kiss-ass culture man
About ten minutes into the party, Kakashi and Nanami find themselves secluded in a corner. They talked. Just talked. They were both guarded at first, but the alcohol helped.
Hours passed and there was rarely a break in their conversation. The more at ease Nanami felt, the more he realized how attractive Kakashi was outside of his work uniform. His shaggy grey hair looked both unnatural but stylish; it was something only he could pull off and he could see why Satoru clung to him like a puppy.
Satoru, drunk and very obviously feeling like it was too peaceful, stumbled over to their table to wrap his arms around Kakashi's shoulders from behind.
Satoru: Kashi-chaaaaan. When are you gonna stop flirting with Nanamin and pay attention to your favorite cousin, ehhhh????
Thank goodness his boyfriend, Suguru, came to the rescue just as suddenly before either of them could give Satoru a reason to buy new sunglasses. Or a new hospital bill.
But the little comment made the air thick with a new tension. Given that his eyes were the only things showing, it was hard for Nanami to miss how Kakashi's eyes raked across his body. He didn't even bother trying to hide it, at some point.
Nanami fucked around and rested his arms on the back seat of their booth and his broad chest was much, much more noticeable
now Kakashi's lookin' at him like this
Tumblr media
Eventually, they both made some excuse to leave and found themselves in the backseat of Nanami's car in Kakashi's driveway
This was the first time in years that either of them could numb the pain inside of them enough to find comfort in each other.
No talk of work, no talk of gains or losses, no interns swarming them in questions, no Gojo or Gai screaming in their ears, no expectations, and no worries
Kakashi's breathy moans fueled Nanami's lust, prompting him to line their cocks up and squeeze them together as they thrusted into his big hand.
Kakashi kept his mask on, as always, but that didn't take away from the beauty of him as he grunted and groaned in pleasurable bliss.
At some point, Kakashi wrapped his legs around Nanami's waist to grind his hips and chase his release and Nanami lost all sense of logic or reasoning whatsoever after that
Kakashi looked so pretty when he finally took his mask off to slip Nanami's hardness down his throat
Cue new hyper fixation: his beauty mark right next to his pretty mouth
They end the night in Kakashi's bed. The night went on longer than either of them had expected; awkward stoicism gave way to carefree hedonism, and they took turns fucking each other.
Two emotionally repressed and depressed 20-somethings that don't know the meaning of relaxation? They're not fucking.
They F U C K I N.
All the frustration, all the pain, all the sadness that stewed inside of them was taken out on one another and all that mattered to them at that time was drowning in the wet sounds of skin slapping against each other.
By the seventh round, they were exhausted and out of breath. Thank the gods they didn't have work in the morning. They wouldn't have been able to keep eye contact without turning red and they didn't need to give Nobara and Yuji a reason to tease
They spent the next day acting the same as they always did, albeit with a little more pep in their step and softness. They don't make a big deal about it and it takes months before people actually started noticing anything odd about them.
It was Sakura, Ino and Nobara that started noticing little things the boys didn't care to look into. Like Kakashi bringing Nanami coffee in the morning, or Nanami offering to take Kakashi home every so often. Is that weird? No, but anyone who knows Nanami knows that smiling is not his thing and he only ever does it around Kakashi

chapter 5: Dinner Dilemmas
Story Masterlist
pairing: Kakashi Hatake x female reader
warnings: SFW (NSFW in later chapters), no warnings for this chapter, only flirting and fluff, mention of explicit reading material (we all know what that means)
wc: 4.3k
synopsis: Kakashi Hatake, newly appointed Hokage, is struggling with transitioning from active duty to being sat behind a desk. Sure, he might not be placing his life on the line every day but perhaps now is the time he puts something else out there instead, his heart.
Meanwhile, things aren’t quite adding up. There is a discrepancy in the records that cannot be explained, and it falls to you to investigate. Never did you expect it would lead you to the door of the Hokage’s office, a man you had admired from a safe distance until now. What happens next leads you into a closely guarded secret that will change the rest of your life.
In a story where the past might be harder to let go of than usual, can two strangers find a semblance of happiness and peace?
beta reader: a huge thanks to @angelic-muse for being an amazing beta and friend! <3
Tumblr media
The door looked no less intimidating this time around, in fact, it was even more so, and you shook like a leaf caught in an autumn wind. Two days had passed since that fateful encounter with the infamous Kakashi Hatake and in that time he had barely left your thoughts.
At first, you had considered telling no one about the dinner invitation, but after a sleepless night and turning up to work looking as if you had been dragged through a hedge backwards, you had relented. It would have been stupid to pretend that you were alright when questioned by your closest friend, the dark circles beneath your eyes and the dishevelled state of your clothes were a dead giveaway that all was not right.
You dissected the interaction from every possible angle—without revealing the details of your assignment—and it was your friend’s opinion that this was indeed a date. That thought was almost worse than still feeling somewhat confused by the situation, because if it was a date then that meant there was more than a possibility that Kakashi actually liked you, and that was insane.
Glancing down, you eyed the simple charcoal grey dress you wore. It highlighted the curve of your waist, flaring at your hips and falling to your knees. There was no way that you had selected this specific dress because the colour reminded you of the colour of a certain Hokage’s eyes, absolutely not and no one could prove it.
Suddenly, a muffled voice sounded from the other side of the ominous door, forcing you to take a step back in alarm.
“Are you going to knock, or shall we stand here a little longer?”
Trust him to have been alerted to your presence despite your attempts at the lightest of footsteps. Now you felt like a fool, for how long had you stood there pondering what to say or do? Had he been waiting on the other side of the door all this time? Probably considering how sane you could be if this was how you conducted yourself and reconsidering his invitation to dinner. You wouldn’t blame him.
You ground down your molars, lifting your hand only to narrow your eyes at the fist that trembled. The knock was lighter than you intended, though it was far from necessary now. Barely a second passed before the door swung open and even in the face of the man you were quickly becoming infatuated with, you managed to scowl up at him.
It earned you an amused chuckle, and that only made it worse. Your eyes closed whilst you took a calming breath, he might be the hottest man you had ever laid eyes on but that didn’t mean he couldn’t also be a little infuriating.
“How long were you standing there?”
“Do you really want to know the answer to that?” Kakashi quipped back, his head falling to the side and smiling that annoyingly adorable closed-eye smile of his.
Not for the first time did you wish for the ground to open and swallow you whole. The burn of embarrassment stained your cheeks a deep pink even through the light make-up you’d applied nervously in the bathroom only an hour prior.
“Goodbye…”
You made to turn on your heel, to retreat as swiftly as you could and chalk this entire situation up to a memory that would haunt you in the years to come, but you were halted. A hand reached around your wrist, slender fingers, rough in texture closed gently against your skin and you felt the zip of energy travel from where his fingers touched you right through your hand and up your arm.
Nervous eyes turned back towards him, the expression on his face evidence enough that he had felt it too. Silver eyebrows lifted high enough to become obscured by his hair and grey eyes wide in a perplexed look that had you swallowing thickly.
Kakashi hesitated for a moment. What on earth was that feeling that had shot through his hand? It was a redundant question, he had decades of experience with lightning and the electricity that brewed from not only the sky.
His hand fell away now that he was sure you weren’t going to attempt to run out on him. He chose to ignore the flare of panic that had ignited in his chest as you uttered that annoyed goodbye, focusing on the softness that edged your eyes as you stared at one another. Each knowing the other had felt that sensation just as strongly as they had, but unknowing what to say about it or if they should even speak it into existence.
It certainly wasn’t the way he had expected this dinner date to begin, but where was the fun in the standard when you could have literal sparks of energy connecting you both?
“Can we start again?” he asked softly, running the hand that had moments ago been wrapped around your wrist through his hair. “You look… lovely.” The pause was unintentional, an acceptable word to describe what he saw in you stuck in his throat.
Kakashi reminded himself of the lengthy pep talk he had given himself in the bathroom mirror this morning. He was your boss; this really wasn’t a normal situation, and he needed to tread carefully. The soft grey of your dress suited your complexion and the hue of your hair, it was casual enough not to look out of place, but the style complimented you.
He wanted to say you looked beautiful, that the kohl sweeping your lashes and the pastel pink of your lipstick was unnecessary, you didn’t need it–any of it–but he refrained. Opting to gesture for you to turn with him and begin the journey to his home.
The wild pound of your heart had yet to die down.
So many emotions within the space of a two-minute interaction–irritation, embarrassment, surprise, excitement, gratitude–you had experienced them all and what would usually take you many hours of inner contemplation had to be swept aside in favour of the moment in front of you.
The walk from the Hokage’s office out onto the streets of Konoha had been uneventful, giving you a few minutes of peace and the opportunity to glance at Kakashi standing by your side. He appeared dressed in a similar way to how you had always seen him in the tower, yet there were subtle differences.
His forehead protector was missing, as were the fingerless gloves that you were ashamed to admit had been a prominent feature of many a wayward daydream. You were grateful not to have passed anyone who might have questioned why you were accompanying the Hokage this evening, and more so for the cool evening breeze that diffused a little of the heat from your skin.
Your fingers twisted together in front of your body, peeking sideways long enough to catch Kakashi’s eye and blurting out words so as not to appear as if you had been ogling him. “It was dinner you invited me to, right?”
Only now that you were headed further and further from the main hustle of the village did you realise that he had never elaborated on where this dinner would take place. You were venturing towards more residential streets and even the houses that lined your path became sparse with each subsequent step taken.
“Right, dinner. I hope you don’t mind that I planned to cook for you myself. I’m a rather good cook but I don’t always make the effort if I’m only cooking for myself.”
That would mean… surely not.
“We’re having dinner in your home?” you squeaked, the wringing of your fingers intensifying.
Kakashi chuckled and the sound was like a ripple of water in a once perfectly still lake, mesmerising and it tingled at the base of your neck. His elbow jostled lightly into your arm, not enough to knock you off balance but enough to be reminded of how close he was to you.
“Well… yes. The alternative is that I feed you whilst you stand outside, but that doesn’t sound all too comfortable for you,” he joked, adopting that lazy smile once more.
He watched as you visibly stiffened. It was endearing as well as concerning and perhaps he had miscalculated. You had known him for all of two minutes and he was inviting you into his home. It made perfect sense to him; Kakashi always felt more at ease and relaxed within the four walls of his house but you weren’t to know that.
“Ah. I’m sorry if that’s come as a shock, I simply find it easier to be myself when I’m not being watched. It’s hard to go out to dinner and not have people stop by to chat or say hello. I’d like for this evening to be a chance for you and me to get to know one another without worrying about interruptions.”
That made sense, it really did. You nodded your understanding and yet it did little to untangle the mass of writhing knots in the depths of your stomach. You were going to be inside his house, Kakashi’s house… the Hokage’s house.
“It’s fine. Pretty sure that if I’m to put my trust in someone, you’re a safe bet, Lord Sixth,” you teased with a wink. You were unsure where your nerve had come from but you wouldn’t question it when it boosted your confidence to see the light pink dust the tops of his cheeks, the sliver of skin visible above his ever-present mask.
Kakashi cleared his throat. “Kakashi, please. Don’t make me ask you again.”
“Kakashi,” you conceded. Testing the weight of his name upon your tongue, feeling the muscle curl towards your teeth as you lilted the syllables for the first time in his presence. You had to admit it sounded nice, and pride flared in your chest at not stumbling over it as you had feared.
Smiling, you glanced up at him only to find his eyes fixed pointedly on you, staring as if he had words upon the tip of his tongue and yet he swallowed them back whilst you watched. You followed the bob of his Adam’s apple, bemused and perplexed by his reaction, half wanting to ask if something was wrong.
“Here we are,” he said after a long pause. Kakashi gestured with his hand and you followed it eagerly, excited for your first glimpse at the place he called home.
~
It shouldn’t have been this difficult to get you to relax.
After both of you had slipped off your shoes and padded into the main living space, Kakashi had offered to fetch you a drink whilst he cooked but you weren’t content to simply sit and wait. You were stubborn that was for sure, batting away his persistent reassurances that he didn’t need any help until he relented in giving in a small job in cutting up some vegetables.
It was clear that cooking was not your forte, his eye drawn to the less-than-efficient way you held the knife and the slow work you made in a task that would have taken him seconds, but he didn’t wish to discourage you. Instead, he monitored you like a hawk to prevent injury and praised your efforts when you presented the haphazardly chopped vegetables.
Your bright smile was worth it…
Thankfully this seemed to appease your sense of obligation to help, and in truth, he had prepped a lot of the steps in the early hours of the morning so the meal was close to being finished already. It had been an opportunity to stand a little closer to you, sharing the counter space side by side and if his head had tilted in your direction once or twice simply to admire you then you appeared none the wiser to it.
Kakashi’s thoughts returned to the moment you had first spoken his name, embarrassed by how off guard he had been caught by it. Never had he heard it said so sensually and without meaning to, he certainly didn’t get the impression that you were aware of the salacious inflection of the name from your lips.
As he plated up the pasta dish his mind turned to how it might sound moaned breathlessly into his ear and he had to stop quickly. His hand gripped the edge of the counter, eyes shut for the seconds it took to rearrange his thoughts into something far more appropriate and collected the lightly steaming plates.
Meanwhile, as Kakashi attempted to diffuse the wayward direction of his thoughts, your foot bounced nervously as you took in your surroundings. His house was clean and tidy, if not a little sparse in decoration. Apart from several potted plants and a bookcase that you couldn’t quite see the contents of except to say it was very full, there wasn’t any decor to speak of. You weren’t sure what you had expected but actually, it made sense. He didn’t seem the type to give great weight to material possessions but the place could use a little colour in your humble opinion.
“Dinner’s ready.”
The appearance of Kakashi both alarmed and calmed you, a grin spreading with ease and for a second you simply ate him up with your eyes. He had changed since your short time by his side in the kitchen, and he looked good in the charcoal grey sweater and black pants–real good.
You followed him towards the dining room, again it was tidy and devoid of clutter, and you sat happily in front of the delicious-smelling meal.
“Thank you for the meal,” you recited happily. You took a quick sip of the wine he’d poured before humming gratefully as you began to tuck in.
To say he was a good cook was an understatement, the simple meal was so flavourful that you fought down a moan of delight from escaping. “This is so—”
The words died in your throat the second your eyes lifted to give your praise of his skill. It was the last thing you were expecting though logically it made sense, how was he meant to eat with the mask in place? Yet knowing that to be reasonable, the sight of Kakashi without the mask obscuring the lower half of his face still stole your breath entirely.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say your throat ran dry, hand raised with a bite of food midair whilst you watched him eat. Never had you seen a man look more attractive, and you knew you never would meet one more so than he.
The sharp jaw that you could make out even with the mask was accentuated perfectly, his mouth moved as he chewed his food and you spied a small mole or beauty mark beneath the left side. You wanted to touch it… maybe more so than you wanted to run your fingers over the seam of the scar bisecting his eye.
Kakashi looked up, realising you had stopped mid-sentence and tipped his head in confusion. He wiped a napkin across his face, concerned he had food smeared on himself but it was nothing like that and the realisation dawned on him suddenly.
“Oh, the mask. Whilst I can eat stealthily I thought I’d forgo that trouble since I’m alone in your company. You don’t mind seeing this old mug, do you?”
Never in your wildest, most extravagant dreams had you considered lunging across a table to kiss someone, not until that exact moment and it was unsettling. How were you meant to act? Why in the fuck were you even here? It made no sense. He was the Hokage, a goddamn war hero and probably the most eligible bachelor in the entire village, and you were… you. Nothing special across the board.
“No, I don’t mind at all,” you murmured. “But why am I here? I don’t understand. I came to you about an assignment you might have information on, and now I’m sitting in your home.”
Kakashi frowned at your question, at how your shoulders rolled inwards and the once bright smile he’d seen only minutes ago diminished into an expression of worry and what he interpreted as insecurity of some kind, though he couldn’t quite understand the reason behind it.
This was a conversation he had not anticipated this early, recalling his long discussions with Obito and how he had sworn to be as honest as he could with you. To ensure that you understood his interest was genuine, even if the invitation had been rushed to distract you from your said assignment. At least until he and Obito could work something out that would hopefully not land anyone in hot water.
You stared into the depths of your pasta, the dish growing cold the longer you left it untouched but you didn’t feel very hungry anymore in the face of your anxieties. Kakashi cleared his throat and your eyes flew up as if commanded to.
“I’m sorry if I’ve caused you confusion. I know that my inviting you here was… hasty. I’ll be honest, as honest as I can be,” he offered and your nose scrunched at that last part before he continued. “I-I’ve noticed you in passing, ever since I became Hokage and you seem like someone I’d like to know more.”
The beat of your heart sped faster, a course of adrenaline flooding your veins and you licked over your lips, the skin suddenly parched. Your fingers trembled around the stem of your wine glass, holding it steady as you took a large gulp beneath the watchful eye of the man sitting opposite you. What should you say? That you were flattered but you still didn’t understand despite what he offered as an explanation. However, Kakashi seemed to have more to volunteer and you were spared from having to speak yet.
“I understand that we met under unusual circumstances and I will, of course, answer any questions you might have relating to the case you’re working on, but I want to be clear that I asked you here as a… a date.”
“I’m nothing special,” you admitted without hesitation or thought. The answering silence was heavy as you met with a face that was unimpressed at best.
“I don’t think you get to decide that,” Kakashi stated flatly, his tone cool for the first time. It made you sit up a little straighter.
Kakashi tentatively reached his hand across the table, the very tips of his fingers touched your knuckles for the briefest moment. “Please eat, and tell me a little about yourself. Let me be the one to decide whether you’re special or not.”
It was impossible to deny him those simple requests, not when they were asked with such heartfelt sincerity. It truly would be a shame to waste such a wonderful meal and after a moment of pause, you resumed your eating much to Kakashi’s delight.
You still weren’t used to seeing him like this, not just without his mask but in any kind of informal setting. As you considered what to tell him, you watched him eat slowly and it was obvious he was watching you too.
A couple of idiots… that’s what you were.
The conversation flowed more naturally after your outburst and slowly but surely, you relaxed enough that it was quite funny to hear his take on certain things. You told him how your father had been a Jonin many years ago but was now retired. Kakashi asked for his name which you gave. It was cute that he claimed to have heard of him and that he had been a brave man, an asset to Konoha in his words.
He asked if you had ever considered the shinobi life, chuckling at your abrupt laughter and explanation that you had no aptitude for it as well as no regret over that fact.
Kakashi was intrigued to discover you enjoyed reading and rather passionately too, your eyes lit up as you spoke about your interest. He too was an avid reader and he was quite sure that the entire village and surrounding lands were aware of that.
“So, is it true?” you asked with a timid smile.
“Is what true?”
You coughed, swallowing a small sip of wine the wrong way and you couldn’t quite believe you were even asking this, maybe the wine was going to your head. “Well, the rumour is that you have a bit of a habit of reading books of a certain nature, and quite publicly too.”
Kakashi blushed. The entirety of his cheeks warmed to a brilliant pink and you noticed the colour even crept to the tips of his ears. It was both the most endearing thing you might have ever witnessed and also the funniest. Here was the man in charge of the entire village and he was blushing like a teenager who was caught staring too long at a crush.
For a moment you didn’t think he was going to answer, but with a sheepish expression that made you tingle all over, he nodded dutifully.
“Guilty as charged.” He sighed and looked off towards the living room you had previously occupied, you guessed at the overstuffed bookcase. “It started as a kind of ‘fuck you’ to some of my elders that developed into a habit that I’ve never been able to quit.”
Interesting…
You mused over his cursory answer, swirling the remnants of your near-empty glass and in a mad moment of courage you met his stare with a salacious smile. He was first to look away and that only served to bolster your confidence when he stuttered and spoke again.
“It’s not like I’m walking around with a perpetual hard-on.”
Even to your ear, he sounded pouty but there was no real bite of annoyance to it. He stood with the now empty dishes in hand and walked towards the kitchen, and you were quick to follow closely at his back. Kakashi sensed your presence far more intensely this time, you were a full footstep closer whilst he walked and he was certain that you were now relaxed in his presence. It must be true if you were willing to ask such a question, one he was a little shy over but underneath it, he liked being just that little bit vulnerable with you. It wasn’t something he allowed himself with anyone else and it was strangely more cathartic than he had expected.
It was hard not to snort in laughter at that last comment and you’d be lying if you were to say it was easy not to let your eyes lower to the place below the waist in question, just to check. The wine had to be affecting you at this point as everything was bathed in a soft glow from the now pitch black outside and the few lights on within the house. It made things seem more intimate and you could admit that you liked it rather a lot.
With the dishes set in the sink to soak, Kakashi turned to lean on the counter and simply admired you in front of him. There was a noticeable height difference but one that he didn’t mind in the least, in fact, he liked it. It seemed there was a lot of liking going on right now, not that either of you was aware of the other's current train of thought.
A lull had fallen in the conversation, the last remark about hard-ons making it feel amusingly difficult to restart things but there was no feeling of discomfort to the stretch of silence. It made other sounds far more obvious, such as Kakashi’s slightly increased heart rate and the barely perceptible hitch in your breathing despite there being no evident reason for it.
You reckoned that had this moment played out on a big screen you would have been certain a kiss scene was approaching, but living it made you a lot more cautious. Not least because crossing that particular line would come with consequences and ones you weren’t sure you could recover from. Kissing the Hokage was definitely to be considered a no-no for a subordinate but that was his call to make, right? Right?
Kakashi was the first one to move, closing the small distance and reaching out to pull free your bottom lip that you were worrying with your teeth without realising. His touch was featherlight, the barest graze of his thumb across your lip and you froze beneath his hooded stare. You wanted to wrap your arms around his neck and beckon him to your lips like a siren calling to a sailor but trepidation and the fear of the unknown stopped you.
No, it wasn’t the fear of the unknown, it was the fear of acceptance and reciprocation that had you pausing. You wished you weren’t so inside your head, so wrapped up in insecurities that you couldn’t appreciate the honest interest that was staring right into your face.
He was so close, one more inch lower and you’d be breathing the same air. The scent of your shampoo and the faint dab of perfume ensnared him fully and it was difficult to think about anything else than how you might feel in his arms, against his mouth. Would you taste sweet? Would you melt against him? So many possibilities and he wanted to learn the answers.
This was it. The final moment to pull yourself free and stop this from happening. To thank him for the meal, walk out the door and into a future that wouldn’t include him. Kakashi Hatake wanted to kiss you, there was no way of denying it now and your pulse shot through the roof. You had always thought it corny when you read in books how it seemed that time stood still but there was no other way of describing how this moment felt and you finally understood the expression. It was as if there was only you and he in the entire world and nothing else mattered.
Could you possibly accept him?
Would he accept you?
