Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but I wish kishimoto kept this attitude going towards kakashi. I feel that in the beginning of Naruto, kakashi was not displayed as being a very well liked person amongst the shinobi in his age range (aside from gai lol). His reputation preceded him and he was seen as being quite militant. Of course over time this could change, but the turn around and apparent past “friendships” he had with the other jonin just seemed a bit artificial and rushed. It honestly would’ve made it more interesting if there was some prejudice towards team 7 for being under Kakashi’s command.

Kakashi and Gai are as eccentric as they come and most of what you say to them is going to just slide right off and Kurenai and Asuma will just straight up shrug you off for questioning their feelings, motives etc [see: them ignoring Iruka's prodding at chuunin exams]
