this silly thing has been in my head for several days now, so i figured i'd write it outta me.

so i'm thinking about what characters fit who in Christmas Vacation and here are my thoughts:

Jay Walker - Clark Griswold. Jay is so much like Clark Griswold. their behaviors and attitude and the way they just go beyond the breaking point of stress to pure madness with a smile. they just fit idk. and in every situation in the movie i can see Jay doing exactly what Clark does

Nya Smith-Walker - Elen Griswold. i feel like Nya has a little less patience than Elen, but overall i think they're decently similar

Gabriella "Gabby" Walker (oc) - Audrey Griswold. they're not extremely similar, but Audrey isn't really a huge character (i love her though and her hair is amazing). Gabby does have that oldest sister vibe and attitude (and the curls :P)

Beatrice "Bee" Walker (oc) - Rusty "Rus" Griswold. honestly Rus is a vibe i love him. Bee is definitely on the same wavelength as him. and she's always hangin out with her dad (Jay)

Victoria "Vickie" and Edwin "Eddie" Walker (oc's) would be two additional minor characters (not because i don't absolutely love them but because they don't have a specific role)

Ed and Edna Walker - Clark Griswold Sr. and Nora Griswold. just. them. obviously

Ray and Maya Smith - Art and Frances Smith. also just them. a little less grumpy perhaps but nevertheless

Kai Smith - Cousin Eddie. HEAR ME OUT. obviously Kai is less, like.. whatever Eddie is. but i feel like he would be the type to overstay his welcome without meaning to. a little oblivious. heart definitely bigger than his brain.

Cole Brookstone - Cousin Catherine. i'm not going to elaborate. lava ok. i feel like Cole would be so down to like. get away from his rich childhood and buy a frickin trailer and a big dog and Kai would completely support him

Sensei Garmadon and Misako - Lewis and Bethany. i think a (more) ancient cranky Sensei Garmadon and an old senile Misako would be really funny. plus the bare tolerance between Sensei Garmadon and Jay is just *chef kiss*

Pythor and Aspheera - Todd and Margo Chester. it would be so funny okay. ship or not idc but they would be kinda perfect for each other but also NEVER STOP ARGUING like. it'd be funny

okay so i know Ed and Edna are absolute sweethearts and Ray and Maya are really sweet and supportive too but just think. i think Ray and Maya would kinda have a "this guy??" attitude about Jay and Nya's relationship. like, they love their daughter but probably have just a hint of "she deserves better" in them about Jay. and Ed and Edna absolutely adore their son and ship Jay and Nya to the moon and back. hence the insufferability of the two couples in one house

In Case of Death Approved Portraits

Recently I have been doing a lot of planning for my inevitable death, facts we will all die eventually. Some of it may be spurred by the recent death of my last parent. But I think it aligns with my personality of having my business in order, that and the fact that frankly there isn't anyone currently alive I would trust with coming up with the visual aesthetics for my life as well as I could.

I have written my obituary and now have selected the photos I would like used in case of my death. I have been very diligent in trying to photograph myself with folks I do care for, so they can have one of those "In case of death" photos that you can post on your FB page. It may seem a little dark, but nothing I hate more than hinky photos of folks used after their death, so if I make my own selection that won't be an issue.

Ultimately its usually just one image that is used, but I would like to have some options.

This school photo from Uriah Hill Elementary School is a classic image. The bold stripped shirt the very classic eyeglasses and most classic abso-smurfly no smile. It sets the tone for the rest of my life most of my images formal or otherwise I am not smiling and if you know my people you know this isn't unusual. I don't come from a toothy family we hide our teeth and usually appear neutral in our photos.

Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts senior portrait. The story behind this fake tuxedo image is my friend who was a model Eva Matuka (maiden name) she was by the photographer encouraging folks to smile and I think she made me laugh which read as a smile, which I truly do not have a natural smile. But the falsity of this image I give full credit to Ms. Matuka. Its a great senior photo and appropriate one to sit next to the much more famous Adrien Brody in our year book.

This image is a self portrait I am pretty sure I took on my first iPad. I am wearing a shirt by local designer Gureje, a custom hat made just for me by Quintin Johnson, a striped scarf purchased on my 2007 trip to Peru along with a necklace bought on the same trip remixed by Christine Wiley, some bead bought at a street fair and t-shirt by Minoritees purchased at the local boutique Pieces run by Latisha Darling. Glasses by Warby Parker. I love this shot because it embodies my personal creativity in how I style myself. This image inspired an illustration done by a former co-worker Jennifer Birkenhead.

This last image was taken by master photographer Rog Walker with his wife Bee Walker at the book party for Dandy Lion: The Black Dandy and Street Style by Shantrelle P. Lewis. Ms. Lewis had curated my work in an exhibition at Museum Of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts. My necklace is by artist Alicia Pillar paired with a piece from an Ghanian artisan. My vest by local designer Gureje and the shirt purchased at Century 21 by Jhane Barnes printed in Japan. Glasses by Warby Parker.

This look speaks to my life a mish-mash of different items coming together to create one person and a look. It embodies my art and artistic aesthetics which were a bit beyond conventional categorization. And like two of the other photos the same style of glasses connecting my youth to my adulthood. Layering is something I revisited over and over again in my styling heavily inspired by Erykah Badu and the energy of the Brooklyn streets.

One thing I’m really looking forward to seeing is how they convince Percy not to join Luke. Up until the end of episode 4, Percy doesn’t have any faith in his dad or the other gods. He resents them all for abandoning their kids and doesn’t like their excuses. He is disgusted by how Athena treats Annabeth. He detests the whole claiming system and that the gods can just choose to claim them if they feel like it. And he is also being actively targeted by Zeus. What will be the turning point for him to not join Luke?

Once the foxes become more comfortable with each other, they begin to nag. Mostly little things, usually humorous things. They nag on Nicky for being too forward sometimes. They nag on Neil for his horrible life habits. They nag on Dan for her mother henning. They nag on Kevin for everything. It's fun, it's what families do. They all just pick on each other for fun.

It takes a little longer for them to feel comfortable nagging Andrew though, which, is understandable, but one of the first things they start picking on him for is his lack of communication in general. He NEVER talks. They just want him to participate sometimes.

Renee and Neil find this funny because Andrew talks A LOT just not around the foxes. He's not comfortable.

See, Andrew is fucking weird. Everyone knows this, but the foxes think he's weird in a “mysterious, murder you in your sleep, was totally the kid everyone thought was going to shoot up the school” kind of weird.

Andrew is not that kind of weird. He's a different breed entirely. He plans out how he'd survive the apocalypse, any of them. He is constantly fighting back the most wild intrusive thoughts. He is 24/7 existential crisis. His head is a wild fucking place.

But he is trying. Making progress. Trying to be more open and approachable, as Bee says. So he talks. Out Loud.

And the foxes hate him.

In the most monotonous voice ever

“Do you ever feel like your bones are dirty? Like, I could totally strip my meat suit and just give my ribs a good bleaching.”

“If that light fell out of the ceiling it would kill at least three of you and seriously injure the rest of us.”

“Nothing is stopping me from buying five ice cream flavors at once, but I'm learning self-control and Bee would be disappointed.”

“Currently having a manic episode. Should I A.) call Bee, tell her I'm not doing too great, and talk about my symptoms and how to best cope? B.) find the nearest mall and spend every dime I have in less than thirty minutes. Or C.) go apeshit and try to fight anyone and everyone who looks at me in a less-than-kind way. Children included.

*stage whisper* there's a secret fourth option but I'm saving it for later ;) (pronounced Semicolon left facing open parentheses. Yes he says this out loud)”

disappears for less than five minutes and comes back with three furrbies and a corndog, one that is obviously not from the mall's food court.

He's so fucking weird. Like, weirder than Neil, and it's awful (so good dude, the foxes eat it up)

And it's not the manic Andrew on meds. It's just Andrew. He's still Andrew. He's still quiet most of the time and he is still grumpy and apathetic, but he's also comfortable enoughto just blurt random shit out and have fun watching everyone figure out how to respond. He's found safety in his new family and he can openly be who he is without fear of judgment or rejection. He's happy in a way he's never felt nor ever thought he'd get to experience. He's just Andrew.

Headcanons 🗣️

Wymack (and Kevin by default) is native Hawaiian

a few years after tkm, when Andrew chills out a lil, if Neil isn't available, he'll sit on Kevin for cuddles

^ Andrew's love language is physical touch because i want him to suffer

the twins have shoulder length hair post tkm (they used to keep it shaved when they were fighting people all the time, but they've calmed down)

kevin likes to experiment with his hair as well, since he wasn't allowed to at the Nest.

andrew lets renee use her excess hair dye on him (only one color at a time)

neil forces andrew to keep his nails painted so they stay out of his mouth

andrew has a weak immune system and gets sick very easily. also his nose bleeds when he cries, but of course only Neil and Bee know this

andrew has pulled his knives on neil when he's blabbing in the middle of the night

I'm typically only a reblogger when it comes to AFTG, but I physically couldn't help it when I stumbled across these shirts. So, here are some funny shirts that the Foxes would wear and why:

Aaron, for obvious reasons. Nicky have it to him and he wears it in secret. It's his comfort pajamas.

Renee gave this to Andrew and he wore it one (1) time and it was at an exy banquet while wild and fervent protests about his past were all over.

Any of them, really, but I imagine a three way tie between Wymack (not paid enough for this), Alison (she gives the vibe), and Dan (when anyone talks to her that she doesn't know)

Matt vibes. Dan defffffffinitely pegs that man. He thanks her.

Andrew. Renee gave him this one, too, but it's a common sight.

Aaron. Maybe Katelyn got this for him as a joke and he wears it as some pathetic, wet cat, Minyard way of processing love. They got engaged the same day. It becomes Aaron's lucky shirt.

This is either Nicky or Allison's. I feel like Nicky would wear it ironically, but it could also be one of those lesbian things for Alison

Aaron. Neil gets it for him and it's how they start to bond.

Kevin, little history bitch

Bee. The team gets it for her for her birthday. She wears it religiously every Friday.

Hear me out: Kevin. It starts as a joke because he's the only single fox (in a world where he and Thea aren't together, I'm not particularly fond of that ship), but then he wears it on a date because he's a dumbass at heart and forgot that the team would totally fuck with his closet and he managed to charm and bag the sexiest, most emotionally intelligent woman ever. They last for two years before Kevin finally realized he's gay, but they stay friends and laugh over everything.

Dan. She gives mad homebody vibes outside of exy.

Neil. Self explanatory.

Matt. He's such a wife guy, and honestly, good for him. I know that I would 100% let Danielle Wilds do whatever the hell she decided was best for me. Oh my shit.

Renee. This was from Andrew, as revenge for the other shirts. She treasures it, but only wears it on his birthday.

Alison and Neil buy it for the twins. I'm a strong advocate for bitchy friends. Love that for them

They only manage to evade death via Neil's survival skills, a pair of strappy heels, a spoon, and a small frog. Don't ask.

Matt and Nicky unironically share this shirt.

It was originally Matt's, but Dan claimed it as hers, and now he just sorts it into her clothes pile when it's his turn.

Wymack. I think Kevin would rather die than get this, so Dan (his adoptive sister), Alison (nosy bitch #1), and Neil (nosy bitch #2) tag team and sign his name for him. He goes on to have a mental breakdown, but he and Wymack get closer. Somehow it's revealed that Nicky wins the bet regarding what's going on between Wymack, Abby, and Bee.

Andrew bought this for Kevin.

Alison and Renee have matching shirts exactly like this. In response, Neil and Andrew have matching shirts that say "I like it bushy" with a cat in a bush. It's the first time the upperclassmen see Andrew smile like that without involving Neil.

This is what inspired this, actually. So, Neil. He'd wear this out and in press conferences just to piss Kevin off. Gives Andrew a heart attack every time he sees it, though he'll never admit it. No one's really sure how or where it came from, there's actually a betting pool regarding this. Alison has money on Andrew buying it. Nicky thinks it was Kevin. Renee even joined in by offering Neil.

(in reality, it was Abby. She thinks shit like this is funny. She's a fox, after all)

Nothing compares to reading aftg and finally understanding exy for the first time

I liked and reblogged this don’t worry but I always feel weird reblogging things that have nothing to do with aftg and then writing something about aftg so I’m doing it this way to ease my anxiety, okay?

Anyway.

When Andrew is drafted to his first pro team this is exactly what Abby does. She’s nothing if not her Foxes biggest advocate, has even attended a doctors appointment or two when one of them was to anxious to go alone. Abby isn’t a mean person, but she is tough and she is brave, so she find Andrew’s medical team, anyone who will have to deal with him physically, and she give it to them like they have already crossed every boundary.

Abby learned how to help Andrew without crossing all of his lines and eventually she earned his trust enough to let her help him. These new people won’t have that right off the bat and they won’t earn it if they don’t know what they are working towards. She does this with every team Andrew is drafted to, and while she doesn’t tell Andrew she does this, he knows. Of course he knows. And he is grateful because none of them have ever made the mistake of touching him without permission. They give him time and space before they start working with his injuries. They are firm about things because they have to be when it comes to Andrew stubbornness, but Abby thought them how to do that without setting him off as well. Andrew doesn’t trust them, but he lets them do their jobs without putting up to much of a fight. He always calls Abby after though, and he never tells her thank you, but he does go over his injuries and his treatment plans and he lets her worry about him over the phone until she feels better.

Okay I’m gonna write a Karaoke fic of the foxes. Neil is going to sing Renegade and debating if Andrew should sing Tequila. But I need help figuring out what other songs the other foxes are going to sing. Also Katelyn will be in this maybe Erik too. Wymack Abby, and Bee are debatable.
