So when Bruce gets a little too close and Ellie is just so tired... she calls for Danny.

Cue college student, perpetually tired and overworked Danny "High King Phantom" Fenton appearing from the very shadows Batman normally does himself, seeing the situation and going off at this "clearly older man" chasing his daughter in the middle of the night.

Cue the most elaborate "stop trying to adopt my kid before I adopt yours" series of battles

I was expecting this article to be a series of conspiracy theories and/or railing against "woke madness." It is not. It is a series of horrifying trends and examples of antisemitism disguised as anti-Israel sentiment in American public schools, particularly Californian schools. (Even if it was only anti-Israel sentiment, it'd still be extremely excessive.) Both the teachers and the kids get in on the ideological nightmare and personal attacks, sometimes the latter because of apparent encouragement/indoctrination by the former.

Speaking as someone who was constantly late to school, I think punishing kids/teens for being late to school is stupid. Like, I get it. When they’re older, they can’t be late to work and stuff and they need to understand that. But majority of kids/teens are getting to school via their parents or someone else driving them or hell the school bus which is also driven by an adult. So when a kid arrives late and gets punished for it, all that’s happening is a child getting punished because the adult responsible for getting them there on time wasn’t successful. That’s not teaching the kid anything, that’s just annoying. Especially when, as a kid I was always ready on time and it was my parents I was waiting on and then in detention I’d be expected to write down a “what will I do better” that didn’t apply to me because I didn’t do anything wrong

I get that sometimes it will be the kids fault but I feel like those cases are few and far between and punishing a kid for the adults in their life is just counterproductive

I hate when people say that Percy "tore down the system" or "rebelled against the gods" when he......really didn't. I mean sure he did some rebellious things- and certainly doesn't like them but....he never truly "tore them down" or "rebelled". At least not in a way that actually mattered. Because sure, the gods may claim their kids now- but they still ignore them. They still use them as cannon fodder and chess pieces for their own games. Most demigods still die extremely young and are forced to go on dangerous quests as children.

The gods still abandon the mortal parents of their children. Camp Halfblood still has major issues. The gods still hold the sole power monopoly. I mean shit- Percy himself still keeps on GOING ON QUEST and participating in the system the gods built! Begrudgingly, yes- but he still participates. Percy is still as much a cog in the machine as any other demigod- a special one, yes.

But a cog nonetheless.

At a certain point blaming the school system for failing to teach you every fact becomes an excuse to absolve yourself from learning on your own time as an adult. Maybe you had bad teachers and curricula, maybe you never did the assigned reading, maybe you were taught propaganda, but it’s okay to start now. It’s okay to learn geography from online games. It’s okay to get entry level books from the library on a subject. It’s okay to explore Wikipedia and other reputable websites as a start. You can learn as an adult. You should continue learning as an adult.

I know that in fantasy high canon most people are fairly normal but in my heart you can’t really go more than two steps any direction in the family tree without hitting some kind of adventuring or mystical connection because it makes Kipperlilly’s deal that much more Aggressively Normal. Her third cousin once removed is actually possessed by a High Archdevil planning to invade Solace and turn it into a purgatorial amusement park but Rosearchie was a bit of a recluse anyway and Kipperlilly stopped her investigation at second cousins because otherwise it would cut into her grinding time.

ok my OTHER reflection:

on the one hand its really frustrating to see the posts about docs and healthcare in general on here be so narrow-minded. bad experiences with certain providers have lead to a huge spread of misinformation and mistrust with the whole system. which can and HAS lead to people avoiding 'evil' doctors for perfectly treatable illnesses and dying from them (the vaccine bullshit, anyone?)

but on the other hand. it is TERRIFYING how some of these docs practice medicine. at times i think 'are you just burned out and don't give a shit or are you straight up just stupid?' and i work in critical care. where quite literally every case is life or death. even in the academic sector where there is supposedly a standard of excellence, some doctors i would not let touch my loved ones with a ten foot pole.

and that sucks. i know this is the no nuance piss on the poor webbed site but 'the medical system and people that work for it are fallible and aspects of it are morally questionable at best/unethical at worst' AND 'the field of medicine exists to help people first and foremost and mistrusting/avoiding it can be detrimental in the long run' can and DO co-exist

well, not really! since the furry characters are in a world slightly different then ours

theres definatly a few thats like "oh, this guy feels like -" but most don't have a specific nationality!
