Some of my favorite photos I took in 2024. (13 instead of 12, because October had Chicago and aurora borealis, so I had to give it two.)
steam fog on the lake, North Bay (Racine), WI - January 16
hoarfrost on the dead sunflowers, Egg Harbor (Door County), WI - February 4
Bird Keeper by Janice Lowry, Racine Art Museum, Racine, WI - March 14
blue walls at the diner, Frank’s Diner, Kenosha, WI - April 4
moon jellies, Shedd Aquarium, Chicago, IL - May 15
golden hour, Kenosha, WI - June 8
fallen tree, Petrifying Springs Park, Kenosha, WI - July 11
fire pit, Fish Creek (Door County), WI - August 14
Norwegian Rosemaling, Old World Wisconsin, Eagle, WI - September 21
dusk comes on, Chicago, IL - October 5
aurora borealis, Racine, WI - October 10
orange before the rain, Racine, WI - November 18
you are as strong as you are honest, Racine, WI - December 15

Cambron Covered Bridge on Madison County Nature Trail near Huntsville, Alabama

Tumblr media
Framed here for the season by fall foliage, the Cambron Covered Bridge is located along a nature trail in Madison County, *Alabama*—not Iowa, which is the setting of the bestselling romance novel 'The Bridges of Madison County.' It's believed there were once about 14,000 covered bridges in the US, but fewer than 900 or so remain today, a quarter of which can be found in Pennsylvania. But Alabama has covered-bridge bragging rights, too. The state has 11 historic covered bridges. Built in 1974, the Cambron Covered Bridge doesn't make the official 'historic' list, but it does offer hikers a peaceful passageway with great views of Sky Lake.

STEVE May 7th 2016 377 23:08:49 hrs by Rocky Raybell Via Flickr: This began as a fountain of white light in the west and stretched across the sky meeting a band of light from the east directly above at about 90 degrees, drifting south. It twisted like a candy cane with horizontal pillars of green than ran from the dipper down to the horizon in the west where it was most intense. These are all to the west and straight up. A paper, Magnetospheric signatures of STEVE: Implication for the magnetospheric energy source and inter‐hemispheric conjugacy is at agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2019GL082460 and a press release is at news.agu.org/press-release/scientists-discover-what-power...

Wow apparently my partner is doing the Lort's work.
as a librarian, i can't encourage you enough to check out stuff you don't think you'll get around to reading
like other institutions, at the end of the day we have to use numbers to justify our existence and inform our financial decisions
check out that novel by that author you like even if you know there's no time to finish it. check out a movie you like even if you can't watch it. check out a sewing machine even if you don't have time for a project. we don't check if you finish anything, and it all adds up.
support your local library by checking out things you don't need
