I've decided to start working on a little project. I've already written one Power Rangers in Space fanfic which involved a kind of self insert OC. If anyone is interested in it, I would be happy to share the AO3 link to it. This new project, though, is an In Space alternate universe. One that will feature some details that have changed to make at least one character worse than they were in canon as well as a completely different OC.
This project, so far, is going to be a collection of one shots. Random scenes/situations that happen to come to mind. As of right now, I have one story already written. Until I have more, I'll wait to share them on AO3. But if any fellow Ranger fans are interested in reading it and any future stories, I would be happy to share them here on my tumblr.

That time they (sorta) got along
Show based-a moment in which Virgil isn’t trying to kill Andros.
Virgil thought he had found a secluded area of the park. Currently he was sitting on a bench, awkwardly trying to doctor and bandage his arm with a first aid kid he’d swiped. In spite of the supposed circuits within, he had a very real wound on his shoulder.
“You’re doing it wrong.” That was Andros, who walked over from the side. His gaze and stance was somewhat cautious, but there was a slight tinge of concern in his eyes.
“What the-” Virgil glared over at Andros. “Get out of here before I destroy you. I’m not in the mood to deal with you right now.”
Andros folded his arms. “Isn’t your sole purpose to destroy me?”
Virgil glared at him before awkwardly trying to bandage his shoulder again. “Damn it!”
“I told you, you’re doing it wrong.” Andros walked over and took both bandages and antiseptic from him and sat down. “Just sit still.”
“I don’t need your help, ranger! I’m doing just fine by myself!” He tried to wrestle the items back, but Andros had actually managed a firm grip.
“You’ve been trying for the last half hour-I’ve been watching.” Andros’ lip twitched in laughter before he started tending to Virgil’s wound. “Now try to sit still for once, and try not to kill me till after it’s over.”
“Shut up you stupid-damn it!”
“Yeah, this stuff usually stings.” Andros didn’t sound at all sorry about that, though. “But hey, it’s probably no worse than getting blasted, right?” He sounded almost cheerful.
“Ranger, I swear to Dark Specter, when I get my hands on you-” Virgil started.
“So what’s stopping you?” Andros was about halfway through bandaging Virgil’s shoulder. “Even injured, you’re stronger than me. You probably could’ve killed me at least three times since this conversation started, but you haven’t yet.”
Virgil glared at him, then huffed. “Not in the mood.”
“You know, we don’t have to fight. We could be-”
“What, friends? With you?” Virgil snorted as Andros finished bandaging his shoulder. “Have you forgotten that your sister programmed me to destroy you?”
“My-how did you know about that?” Andros honestly hadn’t thought the psychos knew Astronema’s true identity-they were far more concerned with ranger destruction, after all.
“Ecliptor talks too much.” Virgil stood up, brushed himself off, and put his leather jacket, which he’d taken off temporarily, back on. “She just can’t program us to get along.”
“Get along...did Psycho Black do that to you?” Andros’ face softened slightly. “You can’t just-”
“Time for me to go, ranger. I suppose I’ll just say I didn’t find you today. Or that you tricked me. Either way, I’ll let you live.”
“You know, a thank you would suffice.”
“Not a chance.” Virgil gave Andros a final smirk before zooming off.

Man. Now all I can think about is how well written Heir to Darkness was. Even with it’s weird retcons.
Heir to Darkness was absolutely the best written of the Unlimited books (even if Coinless obviously was my personal favorite). And also uh......are Ecliptor and Astronema going to show up for this event? You'd think they'd be kind of important in a story arc about Dark Specter.....

Ecliptor is the mentor/adoptive father of Astronema|Karone from Power Rangers In Space as well as in the Boom! Comics.
Tumblr media
Eclipta is the much more evil, much bigger of an asshole femme version of him from the World of the Coinless.
I would honestly be SO on board with the big soft daddy being given a nice life in his old age. Not so much the bitch that killed Adam. But I can easily imagine Karone visiting her dad every week~
AU where all the PR villains end up living together in a little nursing home for reformed monsters. AND ECLIPTOR GETS THE BETTER THAT HE DESERVED.
Also @cupcakes-are-ours
who tf is ecliptor
this is adorableeee

HI YOU HAVE ACTIVATED MY KARONE THOUGHTS
Okay so like. Canon? None of these writers have ever met a science textbook they didn't use as blunt paper. So you gotta kinda...adjust for the fact that there's a lot going on that's implied, but not stated.
But we have a few basic facts in canon:
Karone is honestly okay with hurting people as Astronema. Like in LG we have her straight up mass-murdering a bunch of warriors to get at one specific guy and turning him to stone. This was a normal assignment for her. She was sadistic, brutal, and efficient. The only reason that Ninja Turtle abomination of an episode would ever be considered canon is because it establishes that she was willing to try mind control, it just wasn't producing any results so she gave up on the spell version...and then came up with actual brainwashing that gave her complete control of the Psychos.
Karone pre-cybernetics had a very strict moral code. The only time a monster attacked civilians directly was Sting King, without her permission; when her troops were about to kill civilians, she killed them herself. She tortured a mercenary, but only once, and only to the point of gaining information--she immediately stopped when she had it. She never goes beyond practicality, and whenever possible, she follows some basic principles of morality.
Karone loves Ecliptor, and he loves her. When Andros reaches out to her, she's afraid and traumatized, but she's not just capable of trusting him--she lets TJ outright hold her prisoner, with no proof the Rangers won't just kill her as an enemy, and trusts Andros to protect her. And then she saves the Rangers, despite TJ having just proven he's a very real threat to her wellbeing.
So each of these points to some different things. Points 2 and 3 are very related; Ecliptor has essentially raised Karone to have a functional moral code and a mostly healthy psyche. That pretty much means he loves her. There's no way to raise a healthy kid without that, let alone one who can play the dance of 'let's see how moral I can be before getting my ass kicked' so well.
On the other hand...Point 1? Yeah. She let Ecliptor get consumed by Darkonda. She tortured a mercenary--who at that point, was not in combat, though presumably a combatant of some kind--onscreen. She was willing to use mind control; it just wasn't getting results.
That, you do not get by loving a kid. That, you get by brainwashing them.
Ecliptor was at the mercy of Dark Spectre. They all were. It was clear onscreen that Karone was meant to be a living weapon and child soldier, not a person. And Ecliptor and Karone both had to thread that line, and the fact that they were both so very, very good at it suggests that they learned how the hard way.
The Z-Wave killing Ecliptor made a nice, neat little ending. But in practice? I have to wonder if Karone didn't love him unconditionally...and admire, in that ruthless part of her, how well he shaped her into a weapon.
We don't see her being able to curbstomp an entire Ranger team in Lost Galaxy. She's a really average fighter. And you have to wonder why.
do you think Karone often thinks about Ecliptor and is conflicted on how to feel about him.
Like, he was evil and wanted to do bad things to innocent prople
but
he raises her. He was kind to her and never really did anything harmful to her.

Power Rangers (in Space) and MOTU
I don't see this mentioned often, but either it is a fun coincidence, or writers of Power Rangers in Space were heavily influenced by Masters of the Universe, especially Filmation She-Ra.
We have Andros, whose name, means in Greek "Man, Human", like Adam's does in Hebrew.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have his sister Karone, who was kidnapped as a child and was brought-up as Astronema, heir of Dark Specter and the second in command of the United Alliance of Evil (latter it's leader) (after being lied Power Rangers killed her brother and parents):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She later became good (if was brainwashed/cybernetized back to evil), before ultimately becoming permanently good, and the second Lost Galaxy Pink Ranger:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ecliptor, a cybernetic being who brought her up, and who in many ways inherited Hordak's more positive aspects, including having genuine fatherly love towards Astronema:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dark Specter, a (vaguely) chiropteran demonic giant, who kinda inherited Hordak's most malicious aspects, but mostly resembles Horde Prime. Ironically, MOTUC Horde Prime even resembles a bit Dark Specter:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Darkonda, who kidnapped Karone, and killed her parents, and wants to take control of the United Alliance of Evil, could be seen as a vague analogue to Skeletor, especially as he is kinda Andros' personal archenemy, and he and Ecliptor hate each other:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, either there was some at least subconscious inspiration from MOTU, or this is a really fun coincidence.
[Edit]
Added Hordak's picture, as I forgot about it originally.

TW: Heavy mentions of death
First power rangers post ever on here but.. Ecliptor didn't deserve to die BOTH because HE WAS FORCIBLY CONTROLLED IN THE END,and because HE CARED ABOUT ASTRONEMA. Like yes he probabbly had some good in him before Astronema. Which could mean he was just a good being before, and it was screwed up that he was forciblly controlled, and then killed without much ceramony. But the other hand regardless if you believe that he had good in him before or not (in my mind he did) Astronema/Karone brought a lot more of it out than what normally would have came out. Thus forcing Dark Spector to deal with the problem of Ecliptor FIRST when trying to recapture Karone. My point on the whole is Ecliptor didn't deserve to die because he was a somewhat good being who was forcibbly controlled, AND because he cared about Astronema. Because yes he was controlled, and that was screwed up to kill him. But yes him caring about Astronema was an equally important part of his journey and another reason why he didn't deserve to die.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I tried, but my point is, I think the either/or argument with Ecliptor's death is kinda stupid they're both valid reasons not to kill Ecliptor off like that. At least we can all mostly agree that somewhat of a mistake was made with Ecliptor's death even if we disagree on why.
