the thing that helps me sometimes wrt numbers brain is that the most popular fic isn’t actually gonna be the best fic, pretty much ever, bc the things people gravitate toward are the things that appeal to the largest number of people instead of the sort of weird offbeat passion projects i frequently throw myself at. the things that do numbers are bigger fandoms and popular ships and (often) watered down characterizations or popular tropes, none of which is what i really enjoy doing ninety percent of the time.

Ship Preferences

Here are the results for the top 8 most popular favorite ships (Rayllum, Viravos, Janaya, Ruthari, Claaravos, Virrow, Sorvus and Terridia), showing which other ships they were written in together with.

While some ships can have equal numerical votes, the percentage reveals the difference in how significant this number is overall. For instance, 21 shippers who chose Rayllum as their favorite ship also chose Janaya, and vice versa. While that's roughly 23% of Rayllum shippers, it's almost 43% of Janaya shippers.

Also, notice how most ships on the table are just a rotation of the same eight most popular ships, with the exception of Claaravos shippers who are most likely to name Raydia as their other favorite ship.

While most other shippers have Rayllum as their most popular choice, Virrow and Terridia are most likely to consider Viravos as their other favorite ship, with Virrow shippers being the overwhelming majority. Time and time again, this proves to be a unique position in our fandom, as most other shippers don't seem to be as keen to ship what I would like to call "sister ships".

Sister Ships

I would like to define sister ships as two or more ships which share one of the shipped characters.

I would like to define rival ships as ships that have had some actual rivalry (or other forms of animosity) in the fandom (it is subjective data, based on my own observation and people sharing their experiences).

Here are the sister (blue) and rival (red) ships for Rayllum, Viravos, Claaravos, Sorvus, Virrow and Raydia. Some of the rival ships have mutual shippers (for example, Rayllum and Sorayla - there was one person who considered both ships their favorite) but I also added rival ships with no overlap, to illustrate how Rayllum is the most likely to have shippers also consider rival ships their favorite ships, while Claaravos shippers are the least likely to do so.

The popular ships not included on the tables:

Janaya has no sister ships and one rival ship - Gremaya - with no overlapping shippers.

Terridia has no sister ships and one rival ship - Claaravos - with no overlapping shippers.

Ruthari has no sister or rival ships.

Viren Ships

Getting back to Virrow, this truly is the king of sister ships in the Favorite Ships category. Not only does it have the biggest number of them (8), it also has no rival ships, at least not to my knowledge.

And this is actually a unique aspect of Viren ships - there hasn't seemed to be any animosity among them and many Viren fans tend to multiship him. Which is why I decided to make a Viren ship matrix based on the Viren ships that were chosen as people's favorites together with other Viren ships. The deeper orange are the ships that were written in only with other Viren ships.

The biggest overlap is, of course, between Viravos and Virrow (the two biggest Viren ships) but you can see the sheer number of Viren ships that made it on the Favorite Ships list. In fact, he is the most shipped character in this category

And while Rayla, Soren and Aaravos are close seconds, their shippers aren't as connected among each other.

Please bear in mind that this is only true for Favorite Ships. In the General Shipping Category, you will see a lot more overlap between not only sister ships but also rival ships.

Writing Notes: Elements of Art

The elements of art are components or parts of a work of art that can be isolated and defined. They are the building blocks used to create a work of art.

LINE A mark with greater length than width. Lines can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal; straight or curved; thick or thin.

Horizontal lines suggest a feeling of rest or repose because objects parallel to the earth are at rest. In landscape paintings, horizontal lines help give a sense of space. The lines delineate sections of the landscape, which recede into space. They also imply continuation of the landscape beyond the picture plane to the left and right.

Vertical lines often communicate a sense of height because they are perpendicular to the earth, extending upwards toward the sky. In a church interior painting, vertical lines may suggest spirituality, rising beyond human reach toward the heavens.

Horizontal and vertical lines used in combination communicate stability and solidity. Rectilinear forms with 90-degree angles are structurally stable. This stability suggests permanence and reliability.

Diagonal lines convey a feeling of movement. Objects in a diagonal position are unstable. Because they are neither vertical nor horizontal, they are either about to fall or are already in motion. The angles of a ship and rocks on the shore convey a feeling of movement or speed in a stormy harbor scene.

The curve of a line can convey energy. Soft, shallow curves recall the curves of the human body and often have a pleasing, sensual quality and a softening effect on the composition. The edge of a pool in a photograph may gently lead the eye to the sculptures on the horizon.

SHAPE A closed line. Shapes can be geometric, like squares and circles; or organic, like free-form or natural shapes. Shapes are flat and can express length and width.

FORM A three-dimensional shape expressing length, width, and depth. It is the basis of sculpture, furniture, and decorative arts. Balls, cylinders, boxes, and pyramids are forms. They can be seen from more than one side.

Geometric shapes and forms include mathematical, named shapes such as squares, rectangles, circles, cubes, spheres, and cones. Geometric shapes and forms are often man-made. However, many natural forms also have geometric shapes. Example, a cabinet decorated with designs of geometric shapes.

Organic shapes and forms are typically irregular or asymmetrical. Organic shapes are often found in nature, but man-made shapes can also imitate organic forms. Example, a wreath uses organic forms to simulate leaves and berries.

SPACE The area between and around objects. The space around objects is often called negative space; negative space has shape. Space can also refer to the feeling of depth.

Real space is three-dimensional; in visual art, when we create the feeling or illusion of depth, we call it space.

COLOR Light reflected off of objects. Color has 3 main characteristics:

Hue - the name of the color, such as red, green, blue, etc.

Value - how light or dark it is.

Intensity - how bright or dull it is.

White is pure light; black is the absence of light.

Primary colors are the only true colors (red, blue, and yellow). All other colors are mixes of primary colors.

Secondary colors are two primary colors mixed together (green, orange, violet).

Intermediate colors, sometimes called tertiary colors, are made by mixing a primary and secondary color together. Some examples of intermediate colors are yellow green, blue green, and blue violet.

Complementary colors are located directly across from each other on the color wheel (an arrangement of colors along a circular diagram to show how they are related to one another).

Complementary pairs contrast because they share no common colors. For example, red and green are complements, because green is made of blue and yellow.

When complementary colors are mixed together, they neutralize each other to make brown.

TEXTURE The surface quality that can be seen and felt. Textures can be rough or smooth, soft or hard. Textures do not always feel the way they look; for example, a drawing of a porcupine may look prickly, but if you touch the drawing, the paper is still smooth.

Texture depicted in two-dimensions. Artists use color, line, and shading to imply textures. In a painting, a man's robe may be painted to simulate silk. The ability to convincingly portray fabric of different types was one of the marks of a great painter during the 17th century.

Surface texture. The surface of a writing desk is metallic and hard. The hard surface is functional for an object that would have been used for writing. The smooth surface of a writing desk reflects light, adding sparkle to the piece of furniture.

Brief Respite At The End Of The World

Little doodle that I imagine takes place some time either during Arc 29 or after Arc 30. Wanted to do a quick drawing of this ship that for some reason lives rent free in my brain (Does it even have, like, a ship name? If there isn’t I think either Gauntlet or Handcuff could work for if I ever need to tag it but idk)

Way Too Much Yapping about a relationship between two tertiary characters below:

Part of the reason I like this ship is because these two were surprise favorites in the latter half of Worm, and I thought the mentions of them getting together in Arc 26 and 29 were cute. Though thinking a lot on the two characters (and probably a good bit of headcanon tbh), I started to appreciate it a lot more.

For Theo’s end of things, he’s always been burdened by expectations. His father tried to mold him into the next leader of the E88 from a young age, but Theo pushed back against that, instead wanting to be a hero. And then he got that, and a lot more than he asked for, accidentally becoming essentially a hero of prophecy thanks to Jack’s promise. Suddenly he wasn’t just a hero, he had to be *the* hero, live up to impossible expectations and save the world. And he was treated based on those expectations. His friendship with Weaver was pretty much based on the fact Taylor had to train him, try to make him the guy who could defeat Jack Slash. And then he failed, just barely missing the mark, and those expectations came crashing down around him. He distances himself from his team, and is mostly sulking in the background for the opening acts of Gold Morning, though one person does make an effort to reach out to him.

Aside from maybe Purity (who has her own set of issues), Ava is one of the few people in Theo’s life who likes and cares about who he is, not who he could be. And at his lowest point, where he feels he failed everyone, she’s trying to do what she can to help him recover and see he’s not a failure. And she does succeed eventually, as we see him up to fight a couple chapters later in the arc.

(Also it’s really funny and sweet that the meek girl from Arc 24 was able to almost convince Taylor “You can’t tell me what to do” Hebert to drop everything and talk to Golem, made a doodle of it a while back)

On Ava’s side of things, there’s admittedly not nearly as much to glean from just her characterization in the text alone. Like I said, she’s one of the few who appreciates Theo for who he is, regardless of expectations put on him by others. Their stories aren’t so different, only that her nemesis of sorts (Behemoth) was killed just as she was starting out. And after that fight she’s terrified, choosing not to attend the Khonsu fight. But Theo keeps pushing himself, trains knowing he’ll have to fight things that are arguably worse than the Endbringers when it comes to pain and fates worse than death. I like to think his inspiration is what led to the much more confident Cuff we see after the timeskip (though the Taylor Hebert Bootcamp probably also helped there). The main other thing we know is she had a previous boyfriend who she broke up with due to the pressures Weaver put the Chicago Wards under (which is probably a whole separate post to get into). So maybe their relationship is something that lets them both have a sense of normalcy in the insanity that is late Worm.

Or, you know, maybe I’m reading way too much into my two blorbos whose relationship gets like 5 lines of canon mention and 1 fanfic that I know of (shoutout again to Chartic, Off the Cuff is like a third of the reason I like this ship so much) and this is the best way I could put together why short of writing a fanfic myself (I might ngl but I do not have time atm)

Older Brothers

Summary: Cedric is introduced to a couple of firstborn black templars by Captain Ash’val. 

Cedric silently follows after Captain Ash’val, his mouth dry and concern clawing it’s way through the depths of his hearts. If… Or more accurately, when it’s found out that he helped four teenage baselines out of the base, rather than bringing them to holding or to one of his older Cousins or Imperial Fist Brothers, he had no doubt that he’s going to be in more trouble. But the young apothecary truly felt that he’d done the best he could in a rather fraught situation. Even if Cedric had merely taken the four teenagers to holding, the fact that they were there would have caught Captain Petras’ attention, and…

The Black Templar Chaplain had a firm and heavy hand when it came to punishment, and while Cedric would like to say that he didn’t think that the older Black Templar would permanently harm baseline humans who had been born and lived on Holy Terra… Especially the young and adventurously foolish - 

Cedric was half-way through checking the inventory of the tertiary infirmary aboard the Sigismund when his vox was pinged. One of his fellow Primaris brothers was in critical condition and needed immediate medical aid, or it was likely that he was going to die. Considering the fact that the Sigismund was weeks from the last engagement and they had taken minimal casualties, the ping had startled the young Apothecary.

Dutifully he set down the medication he’d been counting, grabbing an emergency kit and sprinted out of the medication room, hearing the medication room door close automatically behind him. 

It took him five long, agonizing minutes to reach the location of his critically injured Brother, who continued to get worse and further injured by something. He’d also made sure to grab his bolter - they were flying through the warp and if the Gellar Field had weakened where the Brother was and had allowed a daemon or other sort of warp-predator onto the ship, they were potentially in much greater trouble.

Cedric skidded to a halt, staring in confusion at the entrance to the cathedral room, which was where his dying brother was. It was one of the most holy and sanctified parts of the entire ship, how could an agent of Chaos bear to stand in a place so entirely lit by His Holy Light? The young apothecary mentally shook himself and charged into the room to see-

Honorable Chaplain Captain Petras standing over the prone body of Alois, one of Cedric’s fellow Primaris marines, sneering down at the young marine, who had been stripped of both armor and clothing, and knelt before the older marine, head bowed low and arms crossed behind his back. Petras was wielding an electro-whip in one hand, the other was wielding a charged powerfist. The chaplain’s voice was full of disdain and wrathful fire as he thundered loudly “YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR YOUR MANY SINS, AND BE MADE TO BLEED AND CRAWL IN PENANCE!”

Alois was barely breathing, and was weeping silently but freely, shi shoulders trembling. He didn’t so much as flinch as Petras whipped him across the face, carving another bloody stripe from the younger marine’s body. 

The primaris Marine did go flying over the pathway between the metal pews, sailing towards where Cedric stood transfixed as Petras punched Alois square in the chest with his charged powerfist, a low wheeze of pain leaving Alois as the blow struck, and when he landed with a heavy, meaty thud on the metal plating of the deck.

The sound shook Cedric out of his shock-stillness as he rushed over to his brother’s side, his vitals worsening further. “H-Honorable B-Brother Chaplain Captain, this M-marine’s vital signs are d-dangerously close to death. M-May I suggest that you s-stay your h-hand of punishment until he is recovered enough to c-continue to endure the… The punishment without r-risk of dying?” Cedric asked, as his hands flew over his brother’s body, checking where Alois was most critically injured as he started to administer the life-saving medications and treatments that the other primaris would need in order to survive the brutal beating he’d endured.

“And what if I tell you that I have decided that he is Unfit to continue to serve as an Astartes, little Apothecary? What if I told you that I have decided that he should be culled for his weaknesses, for his sins?” Petras sneered, stalking down the walkway towards both primaris marines. 

Cedric didn’t dare take his eyes off of his patient, knowing that Captain Petras in particular saw direct eye-contact from an aspirant or a squire as a punishable offense unless he ordered them to look at him directly. “Th-there is a p-proper procedure for that, H-Honorable Chaplain Captain, that a-allows the Apothecarion to harvest certain useful critical organs from the to-be-culled marine so that those organs may be properly r-recycled sir.” He hated the fact that his voice was trembling, but was glad that his hands were stone-steady as he continued to tend to his barely conscious and badly injured Brother. 

Cedric mentally shook himself as he desperately tried to ground himself in the here and now. He knew of over a dozen Primaris Brothers who had been killed by the infamous temper of Chaplain Captain Petras and that was before he’d… Before he’d killed his own apprentice, Ramiel and had openly declared that he found all Primaris Marines to be heretical abominations unworthy of existence. He had reported the deaths of those primaris marines and who they had been kill-culled by to his mentor, who had responded by restricting Cedric’s movements on the Sigismund alone more and more until the near-schism had almost torn the Black Templar chapter apart. 

Cedric had never been able to save any of them, their injuries too severe and Petras’ orders absolute. The fact that Ramiel had actually been sent to Ancient Terra half-dead instead of actually dying was… Surely that had been an intervention by the God Emperor, as Cedric had been within hailing range and had been able to actually save Ramiel with proper supplies and firstborn brothers uninterested in seeing a Primaris brother slowly bleed out to death at their boots. 

Part of him silently hoped that he would be able to find more of his thought-dead primaris brothers having also been spared by Him on Terra and be able to patch them u properly, allow them to heal and prove themselves as worthy Astartes. 

Shit, Captain Ash’val was talking! Better pay attention. Cedric mentally reviewed what his ears had been hearing while his mind wallowed in past agonies. 

“We’ve been able to find a couple of older Black Templars who have expressed a desire to meet with you. Both of them also have bonds, and have been on Ancient Terra for at least a couple of years, if not longer.” Ash’val explained, a small smile appearing on the Salamander’s face. “You’ll be meeting them in the base, in one of the public rooms. They should be here relatively soon.”

“Yes sir.” Cedric responded with an obedient nod, making sure to stand in a spot that wouldn’t impede the foot traffic in the room. He briefly checked to make sure that the civvie clothes he was wearing was clean and in good condition. He felt woefully underdressed for meeting any of his older brothers, with no armor and not even a simple weapon on his belt… But he hoped that they would forgive him for that, as it wasn’t as if he’d wanted to be taken to Ancient Terra in his night clothes. 

The young apothecary immediately spotted the older Templar as he walked into the room, armor shining in the artificial light of the room. He was holding something in one of his hands, although what it might be, Cedric could only guess. The style of the other’s armor put his home timeline likely in the mid M-40s. Well before the rollout of the Primaris Marines. He nearly startled when the older Brother approached and spoke, offering him the sourdough loaf. “Thank you sir.” He murmured. It was slightly warm to the touch and it smelled delicious. He wasn’t entirely sure what he was supposed to do with the sourdough loaf, and would either be told or ask Pyrus later. 

Cedric’s eyes went huge as one of the Emperor’s Champions walked over to the two of them. He could barely breathe, awed and incredibly intimidated as the well-known and revered Champion Arnault Wach walked over and actually talked! To him and Brother Roland! Cedric felt his ears go warm at the light call out of him being embarrassingly unarmed unarmored and managed not to squeak as he murmured a meek “Yes sir.”

The young apothecary briefly lost the thread of the conversation - especially when the two older brothers switched to one of the local languages - one he was unfamiliar with. But Cedric was well aware of the Rule among Black Templars that younger brothers were not to speak unless spoken to, and stayed quiet, still holding the loaf of sourdough uncertainly in his hands. 

The Emperor’s Champion looked at Cedric directly again, which froze the air in all three of Cedric’s lungs. It took him a moment to process what Arnault asked of him. 

His… Favorite food? “N…Nutrient paste?” The young apothecary offered, deeply confused. Ration bars were drier and tended to be chalky. Nutrient paste could be heated up and had a couple of different flavors to them. Not that he had a definite preference. 

Then Brother Roland asked “Have you been allowed out?” clearly referring to the base.

Cedric shuffled his feet a little. He refused to apologize for attacking the Slaaneshi bastard and didn’t think either of them would punish him for following his training… But with him on-base, anything was possible “No sir… I attacked a patient.” 

He would be happy to explain the full details of what happened, but a look of understanding passed between the Emperor’s Champion and the Battle Brother as they said together “Right, unbonded.” 

Was there really such a difference between bonded and unbonded Black Templars? Just what all was involved with these bonds? Cedric had tried to ask before, but the explanations he got were confusing and didn’t make much sense… They also boiled down to you’ll understand when you get a Bond yourself. 

“Well, little battle brother, you’ve got Brother Roland and myself, Brother Arnault in the area to keep you company.” The Emperor’s Champion declared, a smile on the older brother’s face “Now let’s enjoy the brot that Bruder Roland brought.” He ordered, silently gesturing for Cedric to follow him.

Cedric nodded and followed after the two firstborn Black Templars, staying a respectful two and a half steps behind the others as he had been taught, surprised and honored beyond words when Brother Roland and Brother Arnault invited him to walk alongside them, as if they were equals. “I… I haven’t had sourdough bread before, sir.” The young apothecary admitted shyly, holding the item in his hands “How do we enjoy it? It smells delicious.”

“Have… Have you never had brot before? How long have you been on Ancient Terra?” Brother Roland asked, blinking a little in surprise. 

“About six months or so? The Older Brothers and Cousins have been keeping me busy in the base. Occasionally they supplement my meals with local fruits and vegetables, which has been a fascinating experience so far, sirs!” Cedric answered earnestly, careful not to look either of them directly in the eye. He didn’t want to seem as if he was challenging either one of them.

“What have you tried? What have you enjoyed most? Brot can be enjoyed a number of ways, but here, hand the brot over and I’ll tear off chunks for each of us to eat.” Roland instructed Cedric, who immediately complied.

The bread had a more intense scent when it was torn open, and Cedric took a cautious bite. The savory-tangy flavors were almost overwhelming to his senses, but in a very good way. He found that he devoured the piece of sourdough within seconds “This is really tasty, sir! Thank you for bringing it. I very much liked the pink apples and the little green tree-vegetables. They have a subtle earthy taste and take all kinds of spices really well.” 

Both Arnault and Roland smiled in response to Cedric’s enthusiasm, as the two lead him on a tour of the city, pointing out places that they liked to visit, as well as chatting about the different kinds of food that they liked - and disliked. Cedric listened closely to their words, doing his best to retain everything they told him, honored and delighted to spend time with two of his firstborn brother templars. The Imperial Fists, Ultramarines and Salamanders were almost distressingly kind, but it really wasn’t the same.

Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom?

I'm gonna pick someone other than the usual subjects that get pointed at for this: I think a lot of Swerve stuff in fanworks is really determined not to engage with his arc as it actually exists on the page, but with a kind of idealized version of it they can project onto uncomplicatedly. A lot of Swerve's arc is, yes, coming to terms with his issues and loneliness and awkwardness and isolation, but large parts of that include things like 'which, at times, has made him mean spirited and even callous' (seriously, The Ten Thing), for example. I feel like I rarely see that element to his character and growth acknowledged, the uglier side of its impact on him which means sometimes he is a mildly bitter dick and has to grow beyond that. Also, like. The whole point of the Blurr thing and the TV thing and so on being that this is all a fundamentally negative over-reliance on something insincere and unsustainable in lieu of making actual connections. (The Blurr thing isn't cute! It's very sad! It's not about being a fun fanboy guy, it's about him not having a healthy way to deal with struggling to make actual social connections!)

What is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?

I have never had the slightest investment in Brainstorm/Percy. Sorry folks. I genuinely often forget this ship even exists until I see fanart or something. Perceptor is a very tertiary character in the grand scheme of things, and it just has a feel of 'pair the spares' that bores me, tbh. Brainstorm is too emotionally dense a character for me to be interested in pairing him up with 'the guy there's a running joke he wants to impress'. I like that gag, it's fun and funny and has a nice little payoff. Doesn't mean I need more than that though tbh. (I'm just... so much more invested in Brainstorm than Perceptor.)

Custom Skylander: Hat Trick

Hat Trick: Magic and Undead Twin-Type Skylander

Catchphrase: “Hats off to me!”

Concept: A magician and necromancer, Hat Trick is capable of fooling his foes before raising the dead to unleash swarming damage threats.

Origin: Gather round, gather round, the “Circus Circus!” is in town! Housing clowns, fortune tellers and a group of Mabu, and of course the main event- Hat Trick!

Hat Trick used to be the ringmaster of Circus Circus! , until one faithful night when a rival troupe of Spell Punks attacked from above with a magical net to kidnap Sheep-That-Talks, a sheep clown. Hat Trick attempted to follow the criminals, trying to rescue Sheep, but his tiny legs just couldn’t get him up there to the airship.

He followed their ship day and night, until he had the brilliant idea to use his signature hat as a stepping stool. Lo and behold, it was indeed enough! Or so it seemed from his point of view. What he didn’t realize was that he placed the hat onto a gravesite, and the skeletons laying peacefully in the ground came up to look what is disturbing their peaceful death. And as they poked their heads above the ground, they saw nothing, as they were inside of Hat Tricks hat, poking it ever so slightly more up to give Hat Trick the height he needed to reach the airship and rescue Sheep That Talks.

Who would have thought the skeletons liked the inside of the hat so much that they decided to stay and allow Hat Trick to call upon their powers whenever needed, granting him the opportunity to change up from his normally Magical form to an Undead one.

With Kaos’s army on the rise, Hat Trick left Circus Circus! and ventured to be a Skylander. One day he hopes to return to his troupe and bring joy to everyone around Skylands.

Primary - Cane Fencing: Hat Trick wields his cane like a rapier, stabbing forwards for quick, low damage. Press the Primary button three times to perform a Combo attack, Stunning whatever it hits.

Secondary - Bone Barrage: Hat Trick's hat floats into the air and releases severel bones in a star pattern. The bones can be various sizes, which will do more or less damage.

Upgrades (ordered by cost to purchase, Twin-Types get less upgrades per path):

1200 - Bone Spike: Hat Trick's can becomes sharper, dealing more damage.

1700 - Tertiary: Raise the Dead: Hat Trick pops a Skeleton out of his hat. The Skeleton has medium health and does low damage, but will move quickly, trying to block attacks coming towards Hat Trick.

Upgrade Paths:

Path 1 - Wielder of Bones: Hat Trick has decided that he knows bones better than a Skeleton does, and has chosen to imbue himself with undead energy, fighting with his collection of cadavres all by himself!

2200 - Bone Helix: When using the Bone Barrage, it will fire a second star of bones after the first, offset to fire in the directions that the first one didn't.

3000 - Staff Master: Hat Trick unlocks two more combo moves. By pressing 'Primary, Primary, Secondary', Hat Trick will end the combo by swinging his hat to deal damage and knockback in an arc. By pressing 'Primary, Primary, Tertiary', Hat Trick will spin around as a pair of skeletal arms pop out of his hat to damage enemies around him.

Path 2 - Undead Puppeteer: Preferring to hang back and let his minions do the work, Hat Trick is looking out for himself, and his horde of skeletons don't mind a bit!

2200 - Splitting Skeleton: When the summoned Skeleton is defeated, it will split into two smaller skeletons that have less health and do less damage, but are even faster.

3000 - Armored Skellies: The summoned Skeleton wields a rusted sword and wears an old chestplate. This gives it more health and damage. The split Skeletons hold daggers and wear helmets, doing the same thing to lesser extent.

Soul Gem:

4000 - Warping Bones: Hitting the summoned Skeleton with a bone from the Bone Barrage will mutate the Skeleton, causing it to grow much larger and become frenzied. The Mutated Skeleton will no longer try to block attacks, instead scratching (or slashing) at any enemy that gets close to it. The Mutated Skeleton can't split.

Magic Form Upgrades:

Core Abilities:

Primary - Saw Hat: Hat Trick throws his hat forwards as sawblades pop out of its brim, before returning. The saw does lots of damage, but moves somewhat slowly. It will bounce back to Saw Hat after hitting an object or enemy.

Secondary - Hat Hide: Hat Trick pops into his hat, slowing him down heavily and halving all damage he takes. While hiding in the hat, press the Primary button to have the brim sprout sawblades, dealing close range damage. Press the secondary button again to leave the hat.

Upgrades (ordered by cost to purchase, Twin-Types get less upgrades per path):

700 - Magic Spinner: The Saw Hat and spinning while in the Hat Hide can both reflect projectiles.

1200 - Tertiary: Copycat: Hat Trick creates a copy of himself that mirrors everything he does. Enemies can't tell the difference between the copy, and if the copy takes damage, it will explode!

Upgrade Paths:

Path 1 - Sawblade Magician: Hat Trick loves a good trick, and what's tricksier than an unexpected sawblade to the face?

2200 - Piercing Hat: Hat Trick's Saw Hat can pierce through enemies, always reaching its full throw before returning.

3000 - Hat Shocker: Press the Tertiary button while hiding inside the hat, and the top will pop open, Hat Trick popping out to scare nearby enemies, surprising the enemies so much that they take damage and become unable to move for a moment.

Path 2 - Master of Trickery: Hat Trick is an elite mage, able to warp the perceptions of his foes with minimal effort. Put his true skills of manipulation to the test!

2200 - Illusion Switch: Press the Tertiary button while a Copycat is out in order to switch places! Hold the button down and all Copycats will detonate instantly.

3000 - Quad-Illusion: When Hat Trick uses his Copycat, he'll make three copies, that will stand around him so that the four Hat Tricks all stand in a square shape. The Illusion Switch will always cause the Hat Tricks to move one spot to the left in the square.

4000 - What's Better Than One Hat?...: Two hats! Hat Trick wears a second hat on top of his hat! This allows him to throw two hats, and while hidden inside the hat, he will throw the second one if you do a spin!

From the outside looking in, I was always a bit curious about why Stiles/Derek ended up being the most popular ship in Teen Wolf, even though Scott is the main character, everything is focalized through Scott, and Stiles came across as a secondary character to Derek's tertiary character. Now that I'm watching the show, I Get It. I think I completely Understand now. Stiles seems like he's just quirky and #relatable enough for more people to latch onto, and his interactions with Derek are funny and endearing. It also helps that both actors are handsome. For years I heard people in the fandom say that Stiles' popularity over Scott is because of racism, and I blindly believed it, at least in part because I'm Black and think there could be unconscious biases people have in favoring Stiles over Scott. Having watched it, however, I guess racism could be a small part, but it feels much more like these characters and their dynamic is the one more likely to be "shipable," if it makes sense.

No, they disliked Scott because he's a classic, cheesy shonen anime hero who wins by loving his friends and mom and trying hard. They loved Derek because he's a pathetic loser with an air of mystery. Stiles would have been popular no matter what as the ~quirky~ sidekick with a lot of screen time.

I thought Stiles and Derek's 3 moments of good screen time in S1 were a lot less shippy than they had looked in gifs, but they were still decent. Everybody else had better moments though.

I wanna ask , don't you think it's somewhat crazy that due to this ridiculous a*ysmond vs. helaemond ship war, the character of Helaena Targaryen seems to have more haters among the TG than TB part of the fandom? I legit know several TB supporters/ content creators who claim Helaena deserves better and it will be cool if it turns out she has kids with someone who likes and respects her(=Aemond). Also, even TBs point out if the showrunners want to give Aemond a romantic subplot, helaemond will be a better option, since unlike a*ysmond , this relationship is a consensual one + Aemond's protectiveness and attachment to his sister appear pretty obvious... It's such a pity some Green fans diminish Hel's clairvoyance and claim it's useless and she's far less powerful seer and less interesting character than A*ys. They want A*ys' magic to be explored further, and not Hel's. Which I totally don't understand, since in GOT, we have already seen greenseers, woods witches and even Red Priests, but we still don't know much about dragon dreamers. Imo focusing on Targaryen magic in a Targaryen -centric show would be a far better idea. Also, HOTD's portrayal of Helaena could potentially be a really refeshing and original take on a magical woman. I mean unlike stereotypical sorceresses, usually dark-haired, clad in flowy, dusky gowns and dwelling in fantastic, Gothic manors, Hel looks like a sweet Princess ,but she's still blood of the dragon and a seer. I mean she doesn't need Gothic aesthetics and stuff to be "magical", since she herself is magic!

The asoiaf fandom has always been toxic, no matter if you discuss books or series, there have always been wars in the fandom. Treat it like a game and don't spend a lot of energy on it.

Yes, there is a war of ships going on now. It's true, alysmond stans is the anti-Helaena and the anti-Helaemond. I don't understand why TG thinks Alys is part of the green party. Alys is not green. She has her own personal interests and goals.

Dance of the dragons is a Targaryen story, Alys is not a Targaryen, she is just a tertiary character (like Mysaria), she will not have more time.

I really want to see more of Helaena as a character, more of her magical abilities, more of her personality, more of her connection to the people of King's Landing, her family, her children, and her dragon. Rhaenyra did more action (in the book she sat on Dragonstone for the entire war), so I'm sure Helaena will have a lot of screen time.

Helaena doesn't have to be a stereotypical and banal goth girl. Comparing her to Alys is a waste of time. Helaena is beautiful, she looks like an elf and a fallen angel to girls from sagas.

Helaegon stans opposes Aemond, and they don't like all the allusions to Helaemond. I'm not anti-Aegon, but I'm anti-helaegon because there was no love between Aegon and Helaena in the show or even in the book. It was a forced marriage. Aegon had a mistress and other children. helaegon is lmao. helaegon is an abusive relationship. Abusive to Helaena. This is the reality and the truth.

I think Aegon always wanted to be on Rhaenyra's side. Perhaps he thought that Viserys would start to notice him and love him if he was closer to his older sister than to his other siblings. Even as a child, he was more interested in spending time with his nephews, and he did not take Alicent's words seriously until Aemond's eye was gouged out (Aemond could have died after such a wound)

Confession time: I really don't care that much about jotawife as a character. I have a soft spot for my version of her, but she's really just an original character in a canon character's clothing at this point. Her relationship with Jotaro looks like a toxic hellscape that made both of them miserable, and every time I see shmoopy fanart of them, I cringe. You do you, boo, but still, I cringe. That said, her relationship with Jolyne is actually really sweet. Jolyne loves her, and she loves Jolyne. She's very obviously the most important person in her life at the beginning of the manga.

Jotawife raised Jolyne (pretty much by herself) and helped make her into the person she is today, far more than Jotaro did while she was growing up. Maybe Jolyne got her kindness from her, or her creativity.

You can see their relationship shift as Jolyne grows up. At first, Jolyne's mother is worrying about her, supporting her no matter what, and trying to protect her, even from her own father's emotional neglect. Then Jolyne starts to realize how fragile her mother really is and starts feeling empathy for her sad, lonely situation instead of wallowing in her own misery.

Everyone knows that stereotype about JotaKak shippers bashing/erasing/just being generally dismissive of jotawife. I can't say I haven't been guilty of that myself.

To be clear, I don't ship Jotaro with jotawife AT ALL. I don't even like the thought of them as a couple in any continuity. Honestly, that has less to do with jotawife herself (based on what little we can gather from the literal 4 panels in which she appears) and more to do with the fact that he's a) demonstratably a terrible husband to her, and b) completely incompatible with the dangerous life of a stand user, given how much effort Jotaro put into keeping her away from that part of himself.

I don't tell people what they can and can not write in their own fanfiction. And this isn't a "defense" of jotawife. She's barely a tertiary character. Even by shonen protagonist love interest standards, she pretty much exists because even Araki wasn't willing to write Jotaro reproducing by budding. I can definitely understand the temptation to erase her entirely and swap her out with Kakyoin, or whoever.

But I also don't like idea that Jotaro and Kakyoin aren't *really* in love unless they instantly fell in love when they were teenagers and never had even the most vague romantic or sexual feelings for anyone else (especially *gasp* a woman!). Or that Jolyne can't be like family to Kakyoin or he can't love or care about her unless she's his biological daughter.

I feel like jotawife (should we be calling her jolymom?) is a big part of Jolyne's character, and erasing her entirely is a disservice to it.

While I will share my understanding of myself and why i bi-aroace as the term to refer to myself, I do have two disclaimers. First, this is a reflection of only how I use this terminology to reflect my identity, so of course other aroace people may interpret the same term differently. Secondly, this ended up being quite a long answer, so I apologize in advance, however I do find it important to share everything-- partly because I feel like leaving things out doesn't explain it as well. Also, I will share some basic things we both already know for the sake of others to follow this conversation.

I'm aroace, or aromantic-asexual. For me personally, that means I feel no romantic or sexual attraction at all. Of course its a spectrum, but this is just about me.

What many of my current mutuals may not know is that I actually identified as bisexual once upon a time! When I was in high school it was actually a friend who told me I was bisexual (she thought I knew this, but I did not), and I decided it fit me well enough to identify that way. I actually came out as bisexual when I was 17 a few years later, and for the most part, people still think I am. I do of course, consider myself aroace now, but with that identity I chose the indirect method; I don't feel the need to explicitly share it to everyone I know except my close family. While I'm no longer bisexual, I still love, participate in, and feel connection to the bi community. It's the first way I identify as bi still. This past identity has translated into my current bi identity as tertiary attraction.

Tertiary attraction is what the aspec community often uses to refer to other types of attraction outside of romantic or sexual. For me, these attractions include platonic attraction (friendship), sensual attraction (touch, such as cuddling, hugging, kissing), aesthetic attraction (looks), and alterous attraction (something other than platonic or romantic).

While I am aroace, I still consider myself a romantic, in a sense. I enjoy fantasizing about romance, something in relation to myself, but more largely in relation to fictional characters, ie. shipping in fandom. In this way, I also identify with the microlabel aegoromantic/sexual, which is essentially enjoying the fantasy of romance and sexuality, without enjoying the reality of it. I do also fantasize with respect to real people occasionally, such as popular celebrities I find aesthetically pleasing and have pleasant personalities. As in, I might say I think they're hot or sexy and say I'd enjoy doing things with them, but I wouldn't actually enjoy that in real life. They are unattainable, so everything I say about them is just fantasy. This is the second way that consider myself bi ( I suppose one might technically put this under sexual/romantic orientation, but I think the romantic/sexual aspect of is very much linked to the aesthetic and sensual aspect of it, so I suppose its a bit of both).

My friendships also actually influence my bi identity quite a bit. My friendships are all very queer, and my tertiary attractions influence that. I have very strong friendships that the average person might raise an eyebrow at, and may consider them to be more romantic than how my friends and I define them in reality. I also enjoy cuddling, hugging, and am not explicitly opposed to kissing (I don't actually kiss in my present friendships, but I digress). And of course, I love all my friends and think they are beautiful inside and out! This is the third way I identify with being bi.

The TL;DR is that I still consider myself bi because my past identification, and my current tertiary attraction that has several influences from my experiences!

Cannot believe people seriously Gendrya or J/B or J/C is the main romance of the series. Gendry does not even have a pov. He is a tertiary character. Jaime, Cersei and Brienne are secondary characters. There is NO way they would ever constitute any central pairing. Why do people like to act so dense istg? It would absolutely be Jon and one of his three female relatives, the three main female characters. This is basic common sense.

Don't you understand that part of the shocking revelations GRRM has in store for us is the subtly hidden and controversial message that incest is bad?

He would NEVER dabble in exploring the greyness of a relationship that has a taboo attached that is inherently justified but not inherently based on abuse of power. GRRM hates when things are grey. He talks about it all the time. It's also not a theme in the literature of the Romantic Period, or the Arthuriana he's so fond of. Byronic heroes and incest? LOL, never!

And he would certainly never even contemplate creating a scenario where the incest issue has a "technically, it's legal" escape clause based on the revelation of someone's true parentage. The fact that this exact scenario is in the discarded "original outline" as an explicit plotline for Jon Snow is proof that GRRM would never do that. It would never cross his mind to do that.

The only incest GRRM approves of, anyway, would be Targaryen incest between actual aunt and nephew, because they are the chosen elves of ASOIAF.

Get with it, anon. ASOIAF has no romance, and if it does, it's definitely going to involve a Lannister, a third-tier non-POV, or a symbolically charged physical union in a magically transcendent bioluminiscently veiled location between at least two people the fandom likes to associate with triple-headed flamethrower-riding.

Or the unspeakable verbal violence and controversial erotic charge of ship metaphors for the participants' intimate physicality.
