#As a trans mlm

My relationship with wlw and mlm media is so.... Complicated. Or. Messy, may be a better word?

I spent the first twenty five years of my life thinking I was a wlw and became so entrenched in so much of the media that had wlw relationships, that it's STILL my default, even though I always felt like an outsider to the community in reality. For reasons that are obvious now, as I am a man and not in fact a wlw.

And now that I AM a mlm, I want to consume all of the mlm media!!! All of thr things!!! But now I feel like I'm not allowed. And I struggled with the idea of dating other mlm before I got into my current relationship, because I felt like I wasn't allowed. I actually narrowed what I was looking for from basically anyone, down to only bi/pan/other non-het, but still man attracted, cis women, ANY man-attracted trans woman, any man-attracted nonbinary person, any man-attracted trans man, and any bi/pan/non-gay, but still man-attracted, cis man, because I felt like dating a completely gay cis man or completely straight cis woman was like..... Taking advantage, or tricking them somehow.

And consuming mlm media just feels like I'm a pervy girl obsessed with yaoi. Like that awful, exclusionist stereotype that fetishizes mlm content, y'know?

I also just. Wish more mlm content had trans men. I'd be way more comfortable consuming mlm romance if one of the characters in the relationship looked a lot more like me.

I've been out, and identifying as a man for like 7 years. I pass pretty well as a man. But because of not having top surgery, and not having other anatomy ATTACHED to me, I still feel like an imposter.

But I felt like an imposter when I thought I was a woman, too! So what the fuck, brain.

I'm just. Tired of feeling like I don't belong anywhere.
