Sero Hanta

- he has no problem with you being taller than him. He’s actually really into it.

- cuddle wise he still wants to hold you, no matter the position.

- He will pull you down to his level by putting a hand on the back of your neck and gentle pull you down.

- Since he is the tallest out of all his friends, before he met you, he starts to understand the comfort of hugging and being surrounded by you.

-Bakugo when he met you was upset that he had regrettably befriended another extra that is taller than him

- he was positive that he was going to keep growing

- by the time y'all are dating he night have grown but certainly not enough to surpass you in any way

- He hates that you literally look down on him, at first, and would find ways to bring him down to his level

- pulling your ear, tugging on your hair, pulling your sleeve/shirt, hitting your legs to make you bend over

- after sometime he realizes that this isn’t optimal behavior and will ask you to sit down.

- though after some more time passes he will realize that you never have and never will look down on him

- not when your eyes soften specially just for him and your gaze meets his ; shit just makes him melt

- he finds comfort in being able to be absolutely swallowed by you when cuddling.

- normally when y'all are chilling its side by side or he is the big spoon but when he has nightmares or is really anxious the only place he wants to be in in your bed, wearing comfy clothes and buried in your chest.

Okay so this first one is oddly specific, but every time I go on my own personal Tenya Iida bend, I alwaaayyyss think of this. My fav "perfect gift for him" idea is a pair of glasses (stick with my now), but not just any pair, a pair with his hero name

My favorite gag gift ideas all come down to one thing, oranges. (ifykyk but de I will still explain) So, as a lot of Tenya fans know, his quirk uses oranges/orange juice as the fuel for his engines (no I'm not lying, it's random ik, his family has so many random traditions and small details thrown into the show, I love them sm 💞)

Like many people, I love gag gifts, and I would have a field day with this. I'm talking sunglasses shaped like oranges, bottles upon bottles of assorted orange juice, Sunny D merch, the whole nine yards. While this HC is made to be a gag gift, I think he would actually lose his shit over this, like best gift he's ever received type shit. He'd keep a specific shelf on his bookshelf for all things orange you get him (like a shrine or sm shi 💀) It def weirds ppl out when they don't know the story behind the shelf, but he loves it 😌👍

Spending the Day Together 💞

Bros prim and proper, if your lucky, you wake up before him. It's no secret that appreciates the finer things in life (and the small things, atp he appreciates literally everything. Tenya is an angel sent from heaven and don't you forget it ✋) But if you decide to wake this man up to some bomb ass breakfast, I'm talking bacon, eggs, possibly pancakes, and ofc a big ass glass of orange juice he WILL tear up. I know deep in my soul he's an emotional (or at least dramatic) gift reciever.

I feel like his birthday would actually be a pretty average day, other than the morning and night. He ofc wants to have breakfast with you, whether it's cooking or the two of you going out, but he makes a NIIGHT out of his birthday. Y'all are doing it all don't even play ✋ Anything he could think of that you would also enjoy, is going on the list. (ofc there's a list, this is Teny Iida were talking Abt 🙄🙄)

Art Museums. Movies. Live Music. Wining and Dining. Walks in a Park. Walks on the beach. Hero conventions. Literally any event near or on his birthday y'all are going to. You can try to plan all you want for him but he's got things mapped out before you ever thought possible. Something to be grateful for though, he doesn't mind it. He doesn't mind planning all of these things for HIS birthday because making you happy in the process is more than enough for him to get by (selfless baddie).

As much as I'd like to think, and we'd all like to think, that Tenya gets in a good amount of alone time with you at the end of his birthday, it just doesn't happen (ikik trust the process 😔)

After a long day of walking around the town, eating great food, spending way to much money on entrance fees to museums, gift shops, and that great food I mentioned, bros pooped (sry guys I'm js a girl and idk how else to word that with equal humor to that phrase 😔)

The second you walk through that door bags are crashing into the ground, shoes are being thrown across the room (not rly tho cuz u leave ur shoes by the front door 👍), clothes are being scattered across the living and bedroom. All bro wants to do is crash into his bed. He barely has time to out his night cap on 😔😔

It's slightly mundane but sweet because trust me ✋ After a day like the one he has planned y'all's bed sounds like heaven. I mean you can swear you hear the angels themselves singing to you once y'all slink into bed together, and honestly he wouldn't have it any other way. Spending an amazing day with his amazing partner, then getting into an even more amazing bed with said partner at the end of his lil adventure 💞

Ngl the show’s characters are so amazing that it genuinely is hard to say for sure, but I’d say Heatwave!!

Prepare for a ramble >:)

I already have a soft spot for grumpy characters and he falls into that category, but i genuinely love how the writers balanced his character so well that you don’t hate him for his gruffness, he’s that trope of “asshole with a heart of gold™”

The thing is, Heatwave isn’t fully a jerk either, he respects authoritarian figures, gives people credit where it’s due and has a sporting spirit and you can tell he cares deeply about the people he loves, but loves to put on a front (especially when it comes to kids)

He does have a bit of an ego but he knows when to keep it in check (basically doesn’t let his ego get in the way of his rescue work or uses it as an excuse to hurt people’s feelings)

In fact i’d say outta the rescue bots he’s the one who has faith in his family the most when it comes to knowing they can handle themselves, he’s the only one who doesn’t think Dani’s test pilot work is a big deal and explicitly states she knows her job and can handle herself, not that the others’ worries are out of place, it’s just that, for someone like him who’s overprotective, it’s nice to see him have so much faith

We can also see how much of a worrier he is in the “changes” episode, he doesn’t wanna leave the team cause he’s worried about them (and to me, it seems as tho he really doesn’t wanna seperate from them) but i believe that worry is less about him believing they can’t take care of themselves and more tied to his overprotective nature, he was worried they’d get hurt and he wouldn’t be there to protect them

He takes his job seriously both as a rescue bot and as a leader and takes responsibility for any shortcomings or reckless behavior that could’ve endangered people and i actually respect that a lot, cause most hotheaded characters are written in a way that they always think they’re in the right, which Heatwave doesn’t, his character breaks away from that usual writing and you’re presented with a hothead who actually takes responsibility for his actions which is really refreshing to see

The only times we see Heatwave acting recklessly is when he’s sure no one would get hurt, so it’s really funny to see for a hothead like him, cause he actually stops and thinks twice most of the time

All that aside, I do love when he acts like a jerk at times, they’re usually comedy gold moments, that one scene of him making fun of Blades cause of the scoop claw and when Cody gets upset with him, Heatwave literally tells Boulder and Chase “you guys never know when to stop do you?” Like MY MAN THAT WAS MOSTLY ALL YOU DHHDGDGDHHD (we here at signanothername do not condone bullying, we do however find it hilarious /j)

His character contrasts so well with Kade’s too and the two’s relationship is honestly so amazing aaaahxhdhdh

But what i love the most is the fact you can clearly see he grows as the show goes on, most his moments of him being a jerk are at the beginning of the series, later down the line he’s a lot more considerate and gentle, still acts like a jerk sometimes (cause he’s HW come on) but it’s a lot less than when in the beginning of the series

Not only that but how homesick he is and how Earth and Griffin Rock grow on him overtime, he starts very (and I mean VERY) angry, very not on board with staying, hell, he wants to leave in the first episode, but it’s so nice to see his struggle with accepting earth as his new home, and while I wholeheartedly believe everyone struggled through the same thing, they were prepared to look for their peace in their new home, Heatwave wasn’t at peace and he was very vocal about it

That’s why, the episode “Space Bots” is one of my favorites in the entirety of the series, aside the fact it’s a fun and unique episode, it’s the episode Heatwave finally calls Earth “home” and ngl it actually made me tear up a bit

Just THIS SCENE MAN (I love Blades’ big smile at Heatwave at the end, Blades is so proud of HW chhcc)

Obviously to someone who never watched the show the scene seems mundane at best, but to someone very invested in the story and characters? (Cough me cough) it was such a heartwarming scene, Heatwave finally finding some internal peace and calling it home??? 10/10 crying and screaming

Of course, he still struggles, as we clearly see with the Allspark day episode in S3, he refuses to celebrate it cause he doesn’t see himself as part of the community yet, yes he accepted Earth as his new home but there’s still that dissonance between him and the people in Griffin Rock

So it’s genuinely interesting to see his journey towards finally feeling at peace and finding himself among the community he lives with

I love when the bots finally revealed themselves as aliens rather than robots in S4, Heatwave was very apprehensive about it, really scared to do so even when he’s grown fond of the community, so you can imagine my absolute joy at the absolute shock Heatwave displayed when the people of Griffin rock immediately accepted them and were very excited about it

LIKE LOOK AT HIM HE CANT BELIEVE HIS OPTICS

Hii!! so 2024 is right around the corner, happy new year yayay. Actually, if I think too much about it I think I'll start crying cause like what do you mean we're less than 42 hours from staring a new year?!! 2023 doesn't feel real tbh time in general doesn't feel real but yeah anyways I'll save that convo for another time. I'm here today to reflect on all the gifsets I've made throughout this year, which let me add, has been A LOT. I'm going to start by sharing some fun stats (yes renee I'm copying you <33), and then I'll do a fun top 5 of my fave gifsets, and to finish it off I'd also like to use this to shout out some of my fave people and creators on this hellsite cause you all made my 2023 so much better and I love you all for that <333

that one dnp gifset: I think most people know that I was and still am a big dan and phil fan, and that I spent most of my teenage years obsessing over them and giffing them and only them. Well, they went on hiatus and they stopped having a big impact on my life util they decided to come back and ruin my life again (in a good way). This gifset was the first time I giffed them since like idk 2019/2020, and it does mean a lot to me :') it's not really about the concept and the coloring, I chose this one to be apart of my top 5 for sentimental reasons, and I think that's valid.

give your friendships the magic you would give a romance: once again, sentimental reasons. when I read this quote on loveless it just spoke to me in so many levels. One of the things I love the most about heartstopper is the importance they give to friendship and I just had to make something that highlighted that and I think it turned out super good.

I think nellie loves him: well, now I think I snapped with this one akdhjahak I just love it so much. the coloring.. the heartstopper tv scenes with the heartstopper comic scenes, like chef's kiss, just perfect. of course this is not an original idea so I'd love to thank @rose-nobles for inspiring this gifset <33

mr. ajayi loves museum dates with his grumpy bf: and just like that we are back to sentimental reasons ahdhkas. well, this was one of the first gifsets I made when season two came out and it blew up. I've never had that many notes on a gifset, and honestly I think it's well deserved cause the coloring is good and I had finally just figured out how to sharpen gifs, so yeah love that for me.

Cas wld rlyyy want Ripley and Gabe to switch to the Venandi's but that's never going to happen lol. Like they both stick too much to their ideals/morals for that.

In general Gabriela would never hunt for/with them. Like Ripley does secretly go hunting with Cas sometimes and they just catch and eat an elk or whatever bigger animal they can get. And both definitely like the idea of her joining in, but she'd neverrr lol. I think the only way she'd ever kill an animal (or any living being) is out of self-defense or sth in tht direction. But like I think even if one of the others really needed blood for whatever reason, she could not get herself to kill for them.

I think Cas definitely has just like a lot of shit he outright refuses to do for them but I can't think of anything that stands out/is interesting to say right now lol.

24. What is something they have each had to forgive the other for?

A lot honestly like esp with how messy they are in the beginning lol like this isnt even gonna be Everything for sure.

Ripley's had to forgive Cas and Gabe for turning her of course. Like especially when she first finds out it just feels like the biggest betrayal because they did talk about that and she was always like 'no I wouldn't want to be turned.' I think it's never been this black and white thing tho, like she understood why they did it, because yeah she didn't wabt to die. But def had a hard time accepting her new life and the fact that she's Like This because of them and their choice to not respect her wish. Tho once she accepts it all, she's genuinely thankful they did it.

Cas and Gabe had to forgive each other for like how they treated each other, even just through the years before Ripley came into the picture. Like eventually they will talk about all of it together once they're slowly actually befriendibg each other again. And it'll also definitely come up during those datws Ripley arranges for them, because they often end up reminiscing about the past, which just leads to feeling like mannn how did we get like this..

I think Cas and Gabe also had to forgive Ripley for putting them through th situationship hell without thinking too much about how it might affect them. While Ripley had to forgive them for putting sm pressure on her to choose someome instead of trying to understand her. Like I think after she tries to end things with both, and Cas goes MIA for a bit, once he returns like 'ok... i guess we can try the poly shit..' Gabriela would definitely sit everyone down like we should actually properly Talk about this whole thing.

One thing Gabriela had to forgive Ripley for is when, in my rewrite, Libby approaches Ripley about what she saw and remembers from the creator attack, and instead of denying it, Ripley admits to all of it. And Gabriela and Ripley get into a huuuge fight about this because Gabriela feels like by knowing about all of it, Libby's life is in danger. And they do drop it eventually bc what's done is done, but she def needed time before actually forgiving Ripley for it. I do think eventually she can like agree that they couldn't have kept lying about it to her + with the witch stuff im planning to bring into the story it helps that she's in the know.

And ofc Ripley had to forgive Gabriela for ummm LYING to her about being human and especially for putting her in danger by tapering her feedings + literally almost killing her due to that. Like she really feels so betrayed and takes a little bit of distance for a bit, though she pretty quickly caves and forgives her, Ripley is very weak for Gabe lol 😭😭.

Ik everyone knows that when Ripley does her monthly feeding where she hunts them down to take her bloodbag from them, it often gets her in the mood once she catches them n she pins them down n they look a bit helpless, it does Something for her lol. + also once she figures out she can still drink their blood after turning. Do you think the whole fam would go on vacation together? Or a road trip? If so, what role would everybody play on the journey?

I have a few thoughts: Zelena would be the one stir up drama and start arguments during the flight/drive, just for the hell of it.

Regina and Snow are the ones spending loads of time together making dinner for the family every evening whilst on the vacation (it also gives them that extra bonding alone time). That's all I've got right now. How would you categorise the rest of them?

i like to think that, after emma and regina get together and the family starts becoming closer, they spend summers away from storybrooke. they just deserve a break, you know? whether that's going to new york and living there for a couple of months, or traveling around the world, experiencing parts of this realm they've never seen before. storybrooke is home, but it's also stressful as fuck being the people in charge of saving everyone every other day, and regina and rumple have enough money to make any travel plans possible

when they go anywhere in the u.s., they drive. a lifetime of riding horses to get everywhere will make plane rides seem not so fun, so they'll take everyone in a couple of cars and make whatever trek they've decided to venture out on. there are 11 members of this family, so usually, emma, regina, henry, the charming's and baby neal ride on one car. and belle, rumple, gideon, zelena, and robyn ride in another one. (although, when they live in new york for the summer, they take more than two cars just so they don't have to drive each other every where or use taxis--another thing none of them, besides emma) have really gotten around to

but when they go to places overseas, obviously, they have to ride on a plane. and you're absolutely right, no matter how they travel, zelena is always the one causing trouble. it's why regina forces her to ride with belle and rumple because she drove regina crazy the one time she was allowed to be in the same vehicle as her for a more than five hour long drive (belle says having zelena ride with them is like having a third child in the backseat)

and yeah, regina and snow are usually in charge of dinner. emma and david are usually on breakfast duty. belle and rumple figure out lunch, and regina and snow do dinner (zelena's useless--love her sm but this woman is more focused on causing chaos than figuring out this family's meal plan)

traveling with the rest of the family is super important to belle, because she's always wanted to see the world, you know? and now she gets to see it with the people she loves most. regina and her are usually the ones who plan out the day, like which museums they go to, what sights to see, and the two of them definitely geek out the most when going to art exhibits

rumple isn't the biggest fan of traveling, but he finds he actually does enjoy it when it's with the whole family. belle reminds him too that he spent so long trying to come to this world, he might as well explore it a bit. he also loves the museums, he's just quieter about it. david, zelena, and him end up playing card games to pass the time when they're not doing anything

henry finds movies at nearby theaters that they can all go see and emma and regina make sure to take him to video game museums and arcades so he gets to have some fun doing things he loves as well (they also love video games. this whole family is actually so nerdy but--)

they collect magnets from every city they go to, and they put them on the fridge at mifflin. regina's never been one to allow anything to hang up on her fridge, but when emma gets all excited about the idea of having a little piece from every place they've visited together, regina can't help but allow them to decorate her fridge with magnets

also, regina is still mayor, and she still takes care of business in storybrooke. they all do. they communicate with everyone back in storybrooke regularly because even if the job gets tiring, they still want to ensure their town and the people in it stay safe, but it's really fucking nice to leave their everyday live's behind for a little bit and just breathe, get a break, and spend some time together that's away from the weight of being storybrooke's personal heroes

steph Can't get it. on no level will she ever be able to understand how lex grew up & what she went through. even if it was explained it would be difficult & lex would probably die before she let herself be that vulnerable.

steph has never been afraid in the way that lex lives every day. her life isn't precariously balanced on food stamps & minimum wage. steph goes to the thrift store for fun, lex buys clothes there every two or three years, if she's lucky. steph buys snacks at the dollar store, lex is often forced to do her grocery shopping there. steph can afford designer drugs, lex rations her weed week to week to get through shifts at work. it's just like this impossible gap to bridge in terms of making steph understand, because she's never wanted for anything, let alone gone without something she needs.

(this also means she takes it really fucking hard when solomon cuts off her cards after she spends an absurd amount during a bender. lol)

sometimes i think about lex trying to reel her back in. lex who lives this way out of necessity, who has never actually done most of the things steph imagines as parts of her cool rebellious life. not taking big risks until she comes along with her stupid flirting & her stupid thrillseeking & her stupid money that she's so generous with. steph who actually drags lex into addiction, plying her with drugs & fun & the freedom to be a dumb irresponsible teenager. & when lex gets tired, snaps about needing to focus on work, steph finds something to help with that, too. & lex. i shan't say. but they end up causing each other's most prolific addictions in very direct ways. tags i left on a post of yours like two months ago and then deleted because i got shy LOL

Hello anon. I’ve looked at this ask so many times, attempting to come up with a good way to answer you. But… I just don’t have anything I could say to make you happy. And honestly that’s not my job. It is not my responsibility, or anyone else's to make you happy.

I was debating not even answering this ask at all, but there are some things that need to be said here. Quite a bit actually, because I am a human being with a lot of feelings.

First off, I know that in your mind this is coming from a place of “I love your art sm” but when you frame that around your dislike for something I expressed my enjoyment of, it loses all its meaning. Seriously. It took me like four rereads of this ask to even realize you said you like my art. Thank you, by the way.

What I’m curious about is what you hoped to accomplish by sending me this. Did you think I would suddenly change my mind and not draw something I just said I was excited about drawing? Imagine:

“I kinda like this idea. I’m going to take time out of my day to create something for it because I enjoy it!”

“No don’t do that.”

“Oh you’re right. Okay I won’t create something I like. Thanks for telling me what to do, I didn’t know otherwise.”

…you can see how that doesn’t make sense right?

I think what a lot of people don't understand, especially people who haven't attempted to share something they create before, is that us artists do not owe you anything. We are not mindless machines that create whatever you want whenever you want. I create what makes me happy. I create because I feel inspired. I do not create because you tell me to. I find enjoyment in creating art and I find enjoyment in sharing it with you guys. (Although recently, not so much anymore.)

My point that I want you to take away here is this: coming up to someone and hating on something they just showed an interest in is very rude. You keep that to yourself. That's just basic human decency. Like, if someone is happy, why go out of your way to make them unhappy? In reality if you saw someone who is very happy eating their chocolate ice cream, would you go up to them and throw their ice cream on the ground, just because you personally don't like chocolate flavored ice cream? It's as simple as that and yet I will never understand why people fail to recognize this.

Now, about the actual ship. I want to keep this brief because I despise with a burning passion anything "ship war" related. I hate that term.

I have read the books, same as you. And I know all about Elain losing all her newfound boldness and all that jazz. I am well aware of everything between them, so there's no need to remind me. But what you seem to think here is that I ship her because she shrinks away from him. That is not true. I do not like them because it promotes forcing a woman to be with a man that makes her uncomfortable. No Elucien I have ever met ships them because of this. I like the idea of them because of what they could be. I like their characters and I genuinely think they would work well together, even if it is just as friends. So in the fandom here, yes, I ship them too. But in terms of canon, I believe Elriel is most likely to happen. So you don't need to worry about "losing" an Elriel or anything like that. I can enjoy both. Actually its very pleasant. Double the love, double the fanfics and fanart! You can enjoy multiple things without "compromising" your true beliefs. There's a difference between having a personal preference and having an idea of what will happen in canon. And seriously, multishipping is so fun. You should try it some time!!

Now I want to close this off by making this clear. I was once in your place. I was so closed off from anyone and anything that opposed my own ideas. There was... a lot of hatred. But let me tell you, letting hatred go is so freeing. I have met the kindest and most loving people by stepping out of the little bubble I created for myself.

So to me, there is no "ship war." There are no sides. There is no right or wrong way to enjoy things. There is no battle that is going to be won with theories and headcannons and throwing insults at people who believe different things.

I am here in this fandom because I enjoy being here. But for some reason, people like to tell you what you can and can't enjoy. Crazy, right?

I only recently finished reading (i think up to chapter 27? that's all i could find) but its SO GOOD! I love the artstyle (stunning absolutely stunning) and I love the characters and I love the worldbuilding so so much-

Yoshiki my beloved <3 I love how quietly but also very integral his queerness and the shame that comes with it is drawn into the story, like in the little moments where his eyes are drawn to hikaru before he averts them, its really nice. And also very integral to who he is. why does he think he's a monster? its not directly stated but We Know. Also yes his conflicting feelings when it comes to 'hikaru'!! It's so scrumptious just *cheffs kiss*

AND ALSO!! Fake hikaru I love him sm, I always enjoy characters who aren't necessarily malicious but still nonetheless their behavior doesn't ever really match up with what larger society does deem proper (cough cough), esp when the character himself is on an almost 'higher' plane of existence and just has a very different fundamental understanding off the universe. (even though he's not really necessarily a higher being!!) Like the way 'hikaru' doesn't really understand the difference between life and death, and operates based on his own wish to be able to stay with yoshiko as he slowly has a place carved out for him by yoshiki's side, but as he spends more time he starts to understand more ab why someone wouldn't want someone else to die (KIND OF like this OTHER character from after god, another manga (orokapi)). And as he learns of the consequences of him being there, especially in regard to how its reflected onto yoshiko, he decides to return to the mountain even though he desperately wants to stay where he has a place to be,,,,,,,,,,laskdgjlskgajgd :(( (like that one post calling him a fragile monster,,,,,like he really is isn't he </3)

and the moments between hikaru and yoshiki are so achingly tender!! I love how this author formats the pages and draws the scenes and expressions and movements sm, especially in ch 9 where yoshiko goes out to look for hikaru and finds his body, that entire sequence is just so stunningly illustrated and drawn you can feel the building panic and cold horror/dissociation once yoshiko finds the body- (I saw someone point out how 'hikaru''s shadow always doesn't have its head shown, indicating how he isn't really hikaru, which is such a fun detail) (and just the tenderness of how yoshiki cups the corpse's face as his mind runs and runs and runs and runs and runs-)

AND THE WAY 'HIKARU' ONLY COMES BACK BC HIKARU'S LAST WISH WAS FOR YOSHIKO TO NOT BE LONELY!!! LIKE DAMN!!!! DEVOTION AS A CURSE FR!!!

(it's kind of almost laughably silly how hikaru actually died bc he got distracted like dang :((( who planted that tree there??? /lh)

ASAKO!! I esp really really liked the chapter where she does confront 'hikaru' ab who he really is, that window into the grief of knowing your friend is truly dead and you weren't able to properly mourn for so long, and he's not really ever coming back again-

but also along the way that creeping, growing suspicion that something is wrong, because your intuition hasn't ever been wrong before when you can see these things-

and in general there friend group is absolutely adorable!! Including all the separate interactions the hair segment was so cute and relatable, my hair is so easy to take care of but i can't say the same for any of my friends lol

AND I LOVE THE ART SM!!!! JUST IT'S SO WHIMSICAL IN A WAY BUT LIKE SUFFOCATING? IDK it communicates the environment and mood SO WELL, and i love how the text/sound fx have been formatted on the page to convey an almost opressing, overbearing heat and weight of summer, and the character designs are all so lovely :0.

I really do love all the characters too, like they're written super nicely in a way that feels very, um idk how to describe it but 'real', like it doesn't feel as much that any single one was necessarily brought in solely for plot purposes even though that is the point of them, like their is at least a hint of deeper though processes for each. This does make their interactions so scrumptious tho :DD

I WILL TRY MY best to explain what i do… i don’t actually have a very structured system but this is vaguely how i got started and how i simplified the process

1. look up and compile a whole bunch of references

this will be useful for EVERYTHING– transfomos come with lots of shapes and gizmos and details and stuff so a variety of references from different angles and in different poses is really useful because you can see the shapes they’re made out of and also understand how everything connects with each other

trapezoid town! this is a mess but it’s a quick example of how by looking at everything you start to notice trends or details like what moves with what or how flexible some parts are

there are a whole bunch of resources very nice people have compiled on the web like here here here here and here (mainly MTMTE) and there is a discord server (this is a link to a tumblr post about it and not the invite link itself) for it too but you can always look through the source material and just start screenshotting and pasting shit into a folder. 

you don’t have to do humongous in-depth breakdowns if you just want to be able to quickly doodle robots (god knows i don’t!!) but having the references on-hand makes it easier for the times when you’re like This pose is going to be challenging and I’m not sure how all of the cuboids will be positioned.

references also help break you out of thinking of it as just drawing blockier humans because the proportions and shapes vary a looooooot

2. draw draw draw

at first i drew a lot using refs heavily to get an idea of the shapes then i got lazy and just started drawing anime girls and smacking rectangles and kibble on top BUT as you draw more and more you start to pick up on the Salient Features as well as their General Silhouette.

drawing from memory means that what makes them look recognisable will become more emphasised in your mind so you’ll naturally pick up on how you can simplify them without losing what makes your guy Look Like Your Guy. so if you want to simplify the robots just be incredibly lazy like me B)

i'm kind of horrible because i don't even do like Basic Shapes i literally just eyeball it

for poses i rectangle it out while thinking really hard

anyway when i first tried to draw transformers but Something Didn’t Look Right it was either a) the level of detail across the entire drawing was inconsistent and threw it off balance or b) proportions weren’t right and these things only got better with me finangling and doodling and learning by iteration.

of course sometimes i don’t give a fuck because no cops in transformers doodle land but yeahhhh i’m the kind of guy who only gets through stuff by throwing a lot of rocks at it. i don’t have a Method to offer you unfortunately but what i did do was

3. experiment and exaggerate and experiment!!

The First Rule of Gun Safety is to Have Fun and Be Yourself! i took a lot of liberties and rarely stayed on-model when i doodled and waffled around (and i still do…) but it helped me figure out how much i was willing to draw lol and consequently how i would stylise them.

i would play with how big or small or exaggerated or expressive they'd be… even my most detailed drawings are nowhere near comic-detail but my least detailed ones were. turquoise triangle that’s vaguely brainstorm-shaped. having fun with it and just doing it to make stupid jokes makes the practice seem like not practice.

so yeah tl;dr i started by reffing what bots actually look like, would trace comic panels to get an idea of the shapes and details and then start drawing side-by-side → drew billions of perceptors from my diseased mind and played around with lines → ??? → upgraded from goofy-looking rectangles to goofy-looking rectangles

that’s it for advice! (i don’t feel qualified to say that much)

below are just examples of stupid doodles i’d make on my ipad in class or in the margins of assignments lol, you can tell the last one is from when i still didn't understand brainstorm's build very well because the wings are placed wrongly... But i grew.

Fun story, may laboratory kami where we had to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner that were a full meal. I think it was around the same time that I saw the other anon ask so that was what was on my mind when I sent it in.

So ayun, we had sopas for breakfast (plus pandesal and coffee na binili sa canteen), bibimbap for lunch, then bicol express for dinner. Approve na approve si Lab Prof namin kasi we also had fruits and ayun, kami lang ang nakapag-explain na hindi kami tumingin sa cuisine, pero we looked at the nutrients, ganun.

I do think it comes with its own problems as in, Belial has showed that he'd rather keep Sariel at a distance because he does consider Sariel to be too pure, and that Belial would just hurt him too much, but he wants Sariel to be safe and all...

but it does put Sariel in a specific situation where a romantic option could work out. But it could also work out very well platonically speaking.

He's just probably the healthiest option for Belial romantically wise because Belial is either surrounded by assholes or by people he wants to corrupt, and Sariel fits into neither categories and it makes him stand out.

Baal would be a fun pick, i would love for them to do music together, but it's a slippery slope if Baal introduces Belial to the DossSS, which means introducing him to Aoidos and his two SM bandsmate AND the fact Lobelia recently was in talk to join their group then. Like yeah Belial could befriend all of them extremely quickly but could you imagine. all of our "i can fix him" efforts would be going down the drain because the DossSS would just enter in with a rift of guitar before singing "and we can make him worse <3 " and Belial would know he has found his people.

Some of my fav picks to befriend Belial remains Lamorak (Lamorak would be full blown enhabler "i can fix him but i can't tell him what NOT to do :(" and it'd be hilarious), i think he could be very friend with Lunalu if they actually spoke from artist to art consumer. Korwa, of course, for the fashionista dramas. the Lowain Bros being determined to make him a bro. LADIVA, as we discussed before, trying to connect with him knowing that he did everything for love, and trying to redirect his way to read people into something positive. And even more options that could develop from there.

I know with our crew together we can mange to figure out something to give Belial a proper platonic support in his life.

Ayatsuji with a GN!S/O who is well versed in creative fields

-Okay, well Ayatsuji teased you a lot at first about maths, science, just anything in that field which requires the left side of the brain

-Like he knows that he's smarter than most people, but he's never met a person who couldn't find the integral of 1/2x^2. Sometimes he wonders if he should get a tutor for you

-But one day you actually helped him solve a case, despite his impressions of you. Ayatsuji was ready to tear his hair out because he just couldn't get an impression of the perpetrator, but you actually managed to draw a very vivid and accurate picture of the perpetrator according to the witness's descriptions and clues

-Also likes to look at your drawings when you’re done with them. Now he will actually critique them a bit, but he mostly praises you and tells you what a good job you’ve done. You drew him once and now Ayatsuji treasures that drawing forever

-Since you’re creative, Ayatsuji is so going to make dolls with you. Now you actually add some extra decorations and style to the dolls that you create, and it’s a fresh contrast to the usual dolls that are stored in his basement.
