Personal coach Red Hood
Idea by @impyssadobsessions where Jazz needs a personal trainer from a gotham hero and chooses red hood. Eventual ship content. This is more of a setting so far but i have ideas. I accept ideas too, im just balling
I'm going to try a more chill and lax posting with this bad boy. I feel like my rigid way of organizing is making me feel restricted so this will be 1000% vibes and let's see where it goes.
Part 2
---
Jazz knew this was a stupid idea. Dangerous. Suicidal, maybe, depending on who would answer her call. But she still had to try.
You may be wondering how a twenty something young woman ends up following Gotham heroes around with a notepad. She wasn’t looking for an autograph, or for the latest scoop on the heroes, trying to uncover their secrets.
She was actually writing down their patterns and observations in behavior, trying to map their patrol routes and create a decent enough file and expectations of the heroes.
What did she need the information for?
She needed a personal trainer.
No, not the kind you hire at the gym. She already tried that and it didn’t work. She also tried MMA, and kickboxing and just to see if she could do it, Judo. All were interesting and gave her a pretty good picture of what her body was capable of, and a guesstimate of her physical limitations.
But no. She needed something else, something more… tailored for what she actually needed the training for.
She needed to intern with a hero. The term “sidekick” felt wrong for what she had in mind, since she didn’t want to be that hero’s trainee forever. Or was interested in the current superhero scene at all. They were doing just fine without her.
She just… she felt left out. Danny was amazing but he didn’t need her, not as much as she would have liked. He was a hero, and a pretty good one, but he wasn’t in any place to train her. Not that he wanted to, since he usually avoided her every time she brought it up.
Her baby brother was all grown up and he didn’t need his older sister anymore.
Jazz shook her head. She was being ridiculous. Danny would always need her — she just needed to do her homework and keep up with him on her own. If she just trained enough and could hold her own in ghost fights, she was sure Danny would be grateful and appreciate her support. Who knows, maybe he would be happy that he didn’t need to be wary of ghosts day and night, and actually rest and focus on his neglected studies.
She yawned, lamenting another night that looked to be a bust. Maybe the heroes were busy tonight? Maybe they were on a big mission away? Unlikely that all of them were away, there were usually at least a few of the Bats flying around the city.
Why Gotham, you may ask? Of all the funny-dressed crime fighters on Earth, why these people?
Easy.
They were human.
That piqued Jazz’s interest. She had been between the Arrows and the Bats, but finally chose the Bats because Gotham had one perk over Star City: unlimited supply of ectoplasm. The place was almost as coated in the thing as Amity, which she was grateful for. It saved her from going back and forth to places rich with ghost activity and fishing blobs to eat.
Don’t ask too many questions about the consuming blob ghosts part. It was a necessary evil.
However, it’s been a few months and all she got to show for her efforts was a notepad filled with scribbles she painstakingly copied to her computer and a lot of frustration.
Until one night she caught Red Hood alone as he checked his phone. She waited until he was done texting — she had manners thank you very much — and jumped in front of him before he had the chance to grapple away.
“Hi— oof.”
Thanks the ancients for her reflexes and Judo training, she blocked Hood's punch and following kick. It would probably bruise but it wasn't the end of the world.
“What the fuck?”
“Hi,” she tried again, “I'm Jazz.”
He didn't punch her again, which she took as a good sign. Instead, he took a step back and squared up like he was expecting a fight.
“I’m not looking for a fight,” he scoffed but let her continue speaking, “I’m looking for… I guess you’d call it a mentor? That sounds weird… A personal trainer? No, that’s wrong too. Hm, I wonder if there’s a word for ‘person who is the only one that can teach you very specific information in a field of interest that legally, or otherwise—’.”
Red Hood cleared his throat, making her jump.
“Are you for real?”
“Yeah? I am real.”
Hood looked at her in silence for a few moments. Then, he sighed and rubbed one gloved hand against his helmet.
“Listen, girl.”
“Jazz!”
“Jazz,” somehow she got the impression he grumbled, but the voice modulator did its job really well, “I have things to do, ok? Crimes to stop and stuff. So… yeah. Goodnight.”
He turned around and picked the grapple gun from inside his jacket.
“Wait!”
He jumped and misfired the gun, hitting the wall of the building instead of the roof, like he was supposed to. As the gun recalled the rope, he looked over his shoulder at her. Jazz understood he was glaring at her, she could feel the daggers on her skin.
“Hear me out, ok?” He didn’t move or said anything. “I need— I have tried hiring a trainer, at… back at the gym. You know? But that wasn’t enough. I think I need to train with an actual hero—”
“Listen,” the word was accompanied by the hook of the grapple clicking into place, “whatever it is you are looking for, you definitely are not going to find it with me. So. Scramble.”
He made a shooing gesture with one hand and aimed the gun without looking, shooting it and amazingly enough, hitting the edge of the rooftop. He made a salute as he was launched to the air at high speed.
Jazz didn’t follow, mesmerized by the skill. Hood landed with a flip and without breaking momentum, started running to the next rooftop, jumping impossible lengths. The way he moved was confident, powerful and measured.
She wanted to do that. She needed Red Hood to train her.

Breaking Character pt6/?
Summary: You are the new cast member of 'The Boys' and you play Butcher's cousin and Soldier Boy's new love interest 'Solene'. You're introduced to the cast by the director at a dinner and you're seated next to Karl and Jensen to "bond".
Pairing: Jensen x reader
Warnings: language, fluff
A/N: again! no hate to Danneel.
Tumblr media
You stayed by the door, leaning against the frame, watching Jensen with Zeppelin. It was hard to look away, your heart swelling at the sight. This big, tough guy—who threw around curse words like they were punctuation and could knock back whiskey like it was water—was now a total softie, cradling his son like the world depended on it.
“Daddy loves you, okay?” Jensen murmured, his Southern drawl soothing as he smoothed Zeppelin’s hair. “Ain’t nothin’ out there gonna hurt you. Not while I’m here.”
Zeppelin sniffled, his tiny face peeking up at his dad, and you swore you saw Jensen’s heart melt right there. It was so damn pure, and it made you smile, even as a pang of something deeper settled in your chest.
When Jensen finally stood, leaving Zeppelin peacefully tucked in, he closed the door halfway and turned back to you. His shoulders sagged just a little, his face soft and tired, but still managing a sheepish grin.
“Sorry ‘bout that,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair. “Zep’s got those dreams sometimes. Fuckin’ rips me apart every time.”
You shook your head, stepping forward to close the space between you. “Don’t you dare apologize for that. Seriously, Jensen. Watching you with him? It’s…” You paused, trying to find the words, but they all felt too small.
“It’s what?” he asked, tilting his head slightly.
“It’s amazing,” you said, your voice softer now. “The way you just—shit, Jensen, the way you’re there for him, the way he looks at you like you hung the damn moon. You’re a hell of a dad. I mean it.”
He looked down, his grin turning bashful. “Yeah, well,” he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck, “they’re my world. Ain’t much choice in it, you know? Gotta show up.”
“No,” you countered, stepping even closer until you could rest your hand on his arm. “It’s not just that you show up. It’s how you show up. You’re so… present. So fucking all in. It’s not something you see every day.”
Jensen’s lips quirked into a lopsided smile, the kind that made your chest flutter. “You keep talkin’ like that, darlin’, and I’m gonna start thinkin’ I’m some kinda superhero or somethin’.”
You laughed, your fingers giving his arm a playful squeeze. “Well, you do save the day pretty well. You’ve got my vote.”
He chuckled, his hand coming to rest lightly on your hip. The warmth in his eyes softened even more as he looked down at you, his thumb brushing absently over the fabric of his shirt you were wearing.
“You’re good with them, you know,” he said quietly. “Zep and Arrow… they like you. Hell, I think Zep’s already got a little crush.”
You grinned, feeling a warm flush rise in your cheeks. “Well, I mean, I am pretty damn likable. Can’t really blame the kid.”
Jensen laughed, his head tipping back before he leaned in, pressing a kiss to your cheek. “Yeah, you are,” he murmured.
For a moment, you just stood there, wrapped in the quiet warmth of the hallway. Jensen’s arms came around you, pulling you into a hug that was as solid and grounding as he was. His chin rested lightly on the top of your head, and you closed your eyes, letting yourself sink into the moment.
“Thanks,” he said softly, his voice rumbling against your ear.
“For what?” you asked, pulling back just enough to look up at him.
“For bein’ you,” he said simply, his hand coming up to brush a strand of hair from your face. “I don’t say it enough, but… you’re somethin’ else, you know that?”
Your heart did a little flip, and you smiled. “You’re not so bad yourself, Ackles. Now, let’s get back to whatever we were doing before Zeppelin decided to steal the show.”
Jensen chuckled, shaking his head as he took your hand. “Deal. But don’t expect me to get through the night without braggin’ about how you got both my kids wrapped around your finger already.”
The set was its usual brand of chaotic—lights being adjusted, cameras rolling into position, and the crew bustling around with a kind of practiced frenzy. You were in your full Solene costume, leaning against a prop table while scrolling through your phone. Every now and then, you glanced up at the action, ready for your cue, but mostly, your attention was glued to the screen.
Jensen, standing nearby in his Soldier Boy costume, watched you from the corner of his eye. It wasn’t unusual for you to check your phone between takes, but today, you’d been extra preoccupied. Every time the director called for a break, you slipped away to a quiet corner, your phone pressed to your ear as you laughed softly at whatever conversation you were having.
Jensen’s jaw tightened as he adjusted the strap of his shield. He wasn’t the type to pry, but damn if it didn’t bother him to see you smiling like that for someone else.
“You good?” Karl’s voice broke through Jensen’s thoughts.
“Huh?” Jensen turned, blinking at Karl, who was smirking at him knowingly.
“You’re practically burning a hole through your shield,” Karl teased, gesturing to the prop in Jensen’s hands. “Who’s got you all twisted up, mate?”
“Nobody,” Jensen grumbled, but his gaze flicked back to you as you walked past, phone still in hand, laughing at something the person on the other end said.
“Uh-huh,” Karl drawled, following Jensen’s line of sight. “Right. Nobody at all.”
Jensen shot him a look, but before he could say anything, the director called for everyone to take their places.
You returned to set a minute later, tucking your phone away and sliding into position next to Jensen. Your cheeks were still slightly flushed, and there was a brightness in your eyes that made his chest tighten.
“Ready for this?” you asked, giving him a playful nudge.
“Always,” he replied, forcing a smile.
The scene went off without a hitch, but the moment the director yelled “Cut!” and announced a ten-minute break, your phone was back in your hand, and you were wandering off again. Jensen watched you go, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides.
“Just ask her,” Karl said, appearing at Jensen’s side again.
“Ask her what?” Jensen muttered, though he knew exactly what Karl was getting at.
“Who’s got her giggling like a teenager at a One Direction concert,” Karl replied, smirking. “You’re not exactly subtle, mate.”
Jensen sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s none of my business.”
Karl raised an eyebrow. “Sure, keep telling yourself that.”
Later, during lunch, you were sitting at a table, still engrossed in your phone. Jensen walked over, his Soldier Boy bravado dialed back, and cleared his throat.
“Mind if I join?” he asked.
You looked up, smiling. “Of course not.”
He sat down across from you, tapping his fingers against the table for a moment before finally asking, “So, uh… who’s got you grinning like that all day?”
Your eyebrows shot up in surprise, but you chuckled. “Why, Jensen Ackles, are you jealous?”
He scoffed, leaning back in his chair. “Jealous? Nah. Just curious.”
“Uh-huh.” You smirked, leaning in slightly. “It’s just my brother. We're very close, so we talk about our entire day.”
Relief washed over Jensen’s face, though he tried to play it cool. “Your brother, huh? Sounds like a real pain in the ass.”
“Oh, he is,” you said, laughing. “But I love him. Keeps me grounded.”
“Good,” Jensen said, his voice softening. “You deserve people who do that for you.”
You blinked, caught off guard by the sincerity in his tone. For a moment, the chaos of the set faded away, and it was just the two of you sitting there, sharing a quiet connection.
“Thanks,” you said softly. “That means a lot.”
It had been a long week on set, and you were ready to spend your rare day off relaxing. Jensen had texted you earlier that morning, asking if you could swing by his place for lunch, and you didn’t think twice before saying yes.
When you arrived, the house was bustling with the noise of his kids running around. Zeppelin was chasing Arrow with a toy dinosaur, while JJ was sitting at the kitchen counter, coloring intently.
“Hey,” Jensen greeted you warmly as you walked in, pulling you into a quick hug. He lingered for a second, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. “Thanks for coming by.”
“Of course,” you said, smiling up at him. “What’s all this?”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Something came up—work-related. I was supposed to drop the kids off at Danneel’s, but I don’t have time. Any chance you could do me a huge favor and take them over?”
You hesitated. It wasn’t that you minded helping out, but the thought of facing Danneel alone made your stomach twist. Still, the way Jensen looked at you, so earnest and a little desperate, made it impossible to say no.
“Yeah, I can do that,” you said finally.
“Thank you,” he said, his relief palpable. “You’re a fucking lifesaver.”
The car ride was filled with Zeppelin and Arrow chattering away in the back seat. They were sweet kids, and their excitement about seeing their mom made the drive easier. When you pulled up to Danneel’s house, though, your nerves returned full force.
You walked the kids up to the door, their small hands in yours, and rang the bell. It wasn’t long before Danneel opened it, her expression immediately guarded when she saw you.
“Oh,” she said, her tone clipped. “It’s you.”
You forced a polite smile. “Hey, Jensen asked me to drop the kids off. He got caught up with work.”
Danneel’s eyes narrowed slightly as she looked you up and down. “How convenient.”
You ignored the comment and crouched down to say goodbye to the kids. “Alright, you two. Be good, okay?”
Zeppelin threw his arms around your neck, and Arrow gave you a shy smile before following his brother inside. You straightened up, ready to leave, but Danneel stepped into the doorway, blocking your path.
“Let me ask you something,” she said, her voice low.
You froze, your hand still on the doorframe. “Okay...”
“What exactly is your endgame here?” she asked, her arms crossing over her chest.
You frowned. “I’m sorry?”
“Oh, don’t play dumb,” she snapped. “You think I don’t see what’s going on? Jensen’s not some clueless idiot, but he’s obviously blinded by... whatever this is.” She gestured vaguely in your direction, her eyes blazing. “But I’m not.”
“Look, I don’t know what you’re implying—”
“I’m implying that you’re a fucking gold digger,” she cut in, her words sharp as glass. “I don’t know what sob story you fed him, but let me make one thing very clear—you’re not going to worm your way into his life through his kids or otherwise.”
The words hit you like a punch to the gut. “You’ve got it all wrong,” you said, your voice shaking slightly. “I care about Jensen, and I care about his kids. That’s it.”
Danneel let out a harsh laugh. “Sure, you do. But here’s the thing—you’re not the first, and you won’t be the last. So save us all the drama and just... back off.”
You stared at her, your chest tight and your face burning. Without another word, you turned and walked back to your car, the weight of her accusations settling heavily on your shoulders.
You didn’t tell Jensen what Danneel had said. How could you? It wasn’t just the sting of her words; it was the fear that maybe, deep down, she was right. You didn’t want to cause a rift between him and the mother of his kids, and you didn’t want to be the reason for unnecessary drama.
So, you buried it. You went about your days, still seeing him on set, still sharing stolen smiles and quiet moments. But something had shifted. Your texts were shorter, your hugs a little less tight. Jensen noticed.
At first, he didn’t push. He figured maybe you were just tired or stressed, but as the days turned into a week, your distance started gnawing at him. You didn’t laugh as much, didn’t lean into him the way you used to. Every time he asked if you were okay, you brushed it off with a weak smile and a quick excuse.
It was driving him fucking insane.
It had been gnawing at Jensen all week. Your sudden shift, the guarded looks, the forced smiles—it wasn’t you. He knew you, and he knew when something was eating you alive. The final straw was when you avoided his texts entirely for a whole day, leaving him pacing his living room, running his hands through his hair, trying to figure out what the hell went wrong.
The realization hit him like a ton of bricks: Danneel.
The next time she came by to pick up the kids, he didn’t bother with pleasantries.
“Can we talk?” he asked, his voice low and clipped as soon as the kids ran to grab their bags.
Danneel tilted her head, her eyes narrowing. “Talk about what?”
“You know damn well what,” Jensen said, stepping closer, his arms crossed over his chest. “What the fuck did you say to Y/N?”
Danneel smirked, her red lips curving into something sharp and satisfied. “Oh, so she told you?”
“She didn’t have to,” Jensen shot back. “She’s been acting different ever since she dropped the kids off at your place. What the hell did you say to her, Danneel?”
Danneel shrugged, playing with the hem of her sweater. “Nothing she didn’t need to hear.”
“Cut the bullshit,” Jensen snapped, his patience wearing thin.
“Fine,” she said, her voice turning cold. “I told her the truth. That she doesn’t belong in your life. That she’s out of her depth.”
Jensen’s jaw clenched so tightly it hurt. “Who the fuck do you think you are?”
“I’m the mother of your children,” she said, stepping closer, her voice low and smooth. “I’m the woman who knows you better than anyone else. Better than her.”
“Don’t,” Jensen warned, his voice sharp.
“Don’t what?” Danneel said, her tone dripping with false innocence as she closed the space between them. “Don’t remind you of what we had? Don’t make you think about how good we were together?”
Jensen took a step back, his hands flexing at his sides. “We weren’t good, Danneel. We fell apart, remember?”
She ignored him, her eyes roaming over his face. “You haven’t changed much, you know. Still the same Jensen. Still loyal, still so easy to read.” She reached out, trailing her fingers down his arm. “I miss that about you.”
Jensen flinched away from her touch, his voice cold and steady. “You need to stop.”
“Stop what?” she asked, tilting her head. “Being honest? You can’t tell me you haven’t thought about it. About us.”
“There is no us,” he said, his voice firm.
Danneel’s smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered, stepping even closer. “You sure about that?” she whispered, her hand brushing against his chest. “Because the way I see it, she’s just a distraction. Someone new and shiny. But we... we were everything, Jensen. We could be everything again.”
The sound of the front door opening stopped her words in their tracks.
“Jensen, I—”
Your voice froze mid-sentence as you stepped inside, your bag slung over your shoulder, your eyes wide as you took in the scene.
Danneel’s hand was still on his chest, and the way her body was angled toward him made it look intimate, conspiratorial.
The color drained from Jensen’s face as he saw the way your expression crumbled.
“Y/N, it’s not what it looks like,” he said, stepping toward you.
You held up a hand, your voice shaking. “Don’t. Just... don’t.”
Before he could say another word, you turned and walked out, leaving him standing there, his heart sinking into his stomach.
As the door slammed shut behind you, Jensen turned back to Danneel, his face a mask of fury.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” he hissed, his voice dangerously low.
Danneel shrugged, crossing her arms over her chest. “Just proving a point.”
Jensen’s voice was ice. “You didn’t prove shit, except how fucking bitter you are.”
“She’ll leave you, you know,” Danneel said, her tone smug. “They always do.”
Jensen didn’t reply. He just turned away, his fists clenched at his sides, and stormed out the door, his mind racing with how to fix the mess Danneel had just made.
You made it to the driveway before he caught up to you, his footsteps pounding against the pavement as he grabbed your arm gently to stop you.
“Please, just let me explain,” he said, his voice desperate, his eyes wide with panic.
You turned to face him, tears already streaming down your face. “Explain what, Jensen? Explain how she was all over you? Explain why you didn’t stop her?”
“It’s not what it looked like,” he said quickly, his hands raised in surrender. “She was trying to get under my skin, trying to mess with me. With us.”
You let out a bitter laugh, shaking your head. “Well, congratulations. She fucking succeeded.”
“Y/N,” he said softly, stepping closer. “Please don’t do this. Don’t let her ruin this. Don’t let her win.”
“Win?” you repeated, your voice breaking as you took a step back. “This isn’t about winning, Jensen. This is about me standing there and realizing that I will never—never—be what she was to you.”
“That’s not true,” he said firmly, his voice cracking with emotion.
You shook your head, a sob catching in your throat. “She’s the mother of your kids. She’s beautiful, she’s confident, she knows every part of you, Jensen. Every part that I’ll never get to know.”
“That doesn’t mean—” he started, but you cut him off.
“She gave you a life I could never give you,” you said, your voice trembling. “She gave you Arrow and Zeppelin and JJ. She gave you history. How the hell am I supposed to compete with that? How am I supposed to fit into your life when she’s always going to be there? When she knows exactly how to push your buttons and... and make you hesitate?”
Jensen’s jaw tightened, his hands balling into fists at his sides. “You don’t have to compete with her, Y/N. This isn’t a fucking competition. I want you. I choose you.”
You looked up at him, your chest aching with the weight of it all. “But why?”
“What do you mean, why?” he asked, his voice breaking.
“Why would you choose me, Jensen?” you whispered, your tears falling freely now. “I’m not her. I’ll never be her. I could never give you the same excitement she gave you. I could never give you the family she gave you. And every time I see her, every time I see the way she looks at you, I feel like I’m just a placeholder for something you’ve already lost.”
His face crumpled, and he stepped closer, his hands reaching for yours. “You’re not a placeholder. You’re not some fucking second choice. You’re everything, Y/N. You make me feel alive in ways she never could.”
You pulled your hands away, the ache in your chest growing unbearable. “I wish I could believe that,” you said softly.
“Believe it,” he pleaded, his voice desperate. “Believe me.”
“I can’t,” you whispered, your voice barely audible.
The pain in his eyes was almost too much to bear, but you turned and walked away, your heart shattering with every step.
Sitting alone in her car, I stared out at the rain streaking down the windshield, the silence pressing in around me. My hands gripped the steering wheel, knuckles white, though the car wasn’t even running.
I thought about the way Danneel had stood so close to him, her hand on his chest like it belonged there, like it always had. The familiarity in her touch, the confidence in her presence—it was suffocating.
And Jensen… he hadn’t pushed her away.
It didn’t matter that his words had told a different story, that he’d promised Danneel was in his past. Actions spoke louder. And in that moment, standing there in his house, it felt like I was intruding on something sacred. Something I could never touch.
A sob caught in my throat as I buried my face in my hands. What the fuck was I thinking?
How could I ever compare to someone like Danneel? I wasn’t the mother of his children. I didn’t share years of memories with him. I wasn’t his past, his history, his comfort. I was just… a blip. A fleeting distraction.
The worst part wasn’t that Danneel was in his life—it was that she always would be. Every holiday, every school event, every milestone for the kids. She’d always be there, like a shadow I couldn’t escape. And me? I’d always be on the outside, trying to carve out a space that would never truly be mine.
I could never be enough for him. Not the way she was.
My breath hitched as the thought settled deep in my chest, cold and unyielding. I closed my eyes, letting the tears fall freely. It was over. It had to be. For both our sakes.
Because loving Jensen Ackles meant loving a life I could never truly be part of. And no matter how much he might have wanted me, some things just weren’t meant to be.
And God, it fucking hurt.

Oliver Queen x Male!reader dating headcanons
Tumblr media
*Rafael Silva used as fancast*
● you met Oliver at a bar one night after work, he tried to impress you by buying you the most expensive drink off the top shelf
● it worked, along with his charming personality
● and it certainly didn't hurt how handsome he was either
● so you went home with him that night
● and then the next night
● and again the next
● within weeks he was calling you his boyfriend
● but it wasn't until a year later when you just so happened to be at a bank that was being robbed and the green arrow saved the day
● you went to see Oliver that night and found him stitching up a bullet hole in his waist at the exact spot the green arrow had been shot in at the bank
● he tells you everything starting from getting stuck on Lian Yu
● oh yeah and that his best friends Dinah and Roy are also black canary and arsenal
● it takes some time to adjust to this new discovery
● Oliver gives you space but once it all settles in you're back to your old selves
● "So you're really okay with this?"
● "I fell in love with Oliver Queen and if you and the green arrow are a packaged deal than I'll just have to accept that"
● did he come home to you one day trying on his suit? Yes
● and did he find it hilarious when you got stuck trying to quickly take it off? Also yes
● he tries to teach you how to use his crossbow
● "you know this is a lot harder than it looks"
● "it takes a lot of practice, you could always go get stranded alone on an island for five years like I did"
● "no thanks I would go crazy if I didn't get to look at that pretty face of yours everyday"
● Oliver is the proudest boyfriend
● he loves to show you off when you go out
● especially to big wig business guys he's making deals with
● "this is my boyfriend Y/N, let me tell you his entire life story and how amazing he is"
● and he will take any chance he gets to celebrate your accomplishments
● you got a promotion at work and Oliver used his connections to get last minute reservations at the most exclusive restaurant in town and bought a brand new suit
● speaking of, Oliver should not have been as surprised as he was when you showed up to the restaurant in a bright green suit of your own
● "Hey its like I get to show off that my boyfriend is the green arrow without people knowing that my boyfriend is the green arrow"
● he's super romantic too, he has plans for every anniversary you could possibly think of
● and valentine's day is his favorite holiday
● it's the one day where he doesn't take advantage of his financial status to take you out on an unnecessarily extravagant date
● and instead sets up a quiet dinner at home
● he pretends that he made the intricate meal when the private chef he hired snuck out mere minutes before you arrived
● so maybe he still spent quite a bit of money on that
● and on the ridiculously expensive wine
●… and on the bouquets of roses that all over your home
● after two years you thought you had gotten used to Oliver being a superhero
● but then Dinah kicks down your door as she and Roy carries in Oliver who is bloody and beat to hell, barely conscious
● "what the hell happened!"
● Dinah "deathstroke ambushed us"
● "look at him, he should be at the hospital!"
● Roy "and tell them what? That Oliver Queen is the green arrow?"
● you're pacing around as Dinah and Roy patch him up and he finally comes back to
● "Oh my god, Ollie you're okay, I thought you were going to die," you say kissing him
● "you can't get rid of me that easy" he jokes
● "it's not funny Oliver I was really scared"
● "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you"
● Roy "I hate to say it but this kind of thing comes with the territory of dating a superhero Y/N"
● Dinah "this isn't going to be the last time something like this will happen and next time it could be worse are you going to be able to handle that?"
● "I meant it when I said that I accept you and the green arrow are a packaged deal Oliver, I love you and I'm not going anywhere"
● Oliver "I love you too Y/N"

Note
What is your absolute favorite thing about Roy?
Oooh, this is a tough question, I love everything about Roy. If I had to pick, I'd say his relationships with younger people.
Obviously, the biggest example of that's Lian. Being a single father's such a compelling character trait, especially in a superhero setting, and it adds so much depth to his character. Even when Lian's not actively on-panel, the way Roy reacts to the world around him is constantly influenced by her existence. Hands down some of my favourite Roy panels are the ones where Roy forces himself to keep fighting when everything seems hopeless because otherwise Lian would be alone, when he bases his decisions on making Lian proud, or when Lian's in any sort of danger*. Lian shapes who he is, both as a hero and a person, and erasing her was maybe the stupidest decision DC ever made.
However, his relationships with younger heroes are also so endearing! A post by @/mysterycitrus made an amazing point about the significance of having a recovered addict being seen as a support figure to younger people, so absolutely go check that post out. Grant's the most obvious example, (which, a little bit of shameless self promo, but I wrote a fic of him and the Harpers which four people said was good so apparently it's worth the read) and the way that he and Grant interact is so telling of the type of person Roy is. Roy specifically requests Grant be added to the Titans '99 roster because he sees potential in Grant, and because he thinks that Grant wants that chance to prove himself again. However, when he realises just how much Grant has on his mind, he sees that superheroics isn't helping him so he gives Grant the chance to walk away. His relationships with Rose and Bart are also good examples of this within the Titans, and Bart respecting Roy more than Wally is one of the funniest/sweetest things to come from that era. Also the fact that Mia is explicitly inspired to become Speedy because of Roy, not just because of his accomplishments as a hero but also because of his recovery, is so sweet and an absolutely amazing message about how Roy's recovery is much more telling of his character than his addiction.
*An aside, while I hate talking about Rise of Arsenal because A) it makes me cry and B) it kinda had the same tone as a villain origin story, I do think that him killing the Electrocutioner was in character, and a good comparison point between He Who Is Incorrectly Labelled As DC's Best Dad and DC's Actual Best Dad. The differences between UtRH and Green Arrow #1 are also great for that.
Thank you so much for the ask!! :)

Newish Comics, Regular Edition (thank you extremely early spoilers meaning I spent yesterday on the Gotham War stuff, this is a big edition and I’ve been holding myself back from touching these for FOUR WHOLE WEEKS):
Birds of Prey #1: Righto so as I read this my levels of trust are building just slightly. There is at least reasoning being built into this scenario. Also I note the note that this is post Green Arrow #6
The list!!! I’ve already ranted about this but I want to note how IMMACULATE the order of “Shiva, Selina, Talia?, Cheshire?” is. Shiva’s the obvious starting point. She’s heavily associated with Sin, she’s an actual Bird of Prey from several team lineups, there’s the whole Dinah and Shiva relationship… Dinah would consider this. Jumping to Selina next, as someone who again has had multiple BoP appearances, is known to ally up if asked, exists in the antihero spectrum, Dinah’s probably also now aware she’s been looking after Lian. Then Talia. I am unaware of Talia being associated with any BoP team lineup ever but she’s an obvious next place for thoughts to go. Talia has Views and if you’re looking at dangerous people who can help with an extraction rescue she’s an option. Then finally, Cheshire. Who Dinah full well knows would cause ALL LEVELS of drama if Dinah asked her to go after Sin given everything around Lian, but is willing to consider it anyway for a moment there.
I do adore the art style in this, DC’s really putting out some stunning LOOKING books at the moment, also the old fashioned comics style and colour here are giving me vibes of the Black Canary 1991 run.
“What’s more important than a sister” remains excellent, Barda and Cass together is just amazing, and I’m interested in what happens with Zealot and Meridian. I understand why Harley’s there even if I don’t like it, and it’s largely approached better than I expected (I just can’t summon the energy to care about that fight scene, it’s establishing stuff to jury rig a reason for Harley to be here at all, I just don’t care about Harley enough, though does Harley have a secret past with the Dava Sborsc ‘collect all the single punches’ form of martial arts?)
My actual big question is: Sin is SIXTEEN? I mean I know we’ve had 2.5 reboots since the last time she was on page in comics, but she was approximately 10 years old after One Year Later. She was in PRIMARY SCHOOL. That’s even faster aging than Damian! (I guess we could stretch the point to her being 11-12, but it feels older than she was depicted)
Blue Beetle #1: The thing I MOST adore about using that JLI picture for Ted is that even with this comic set in the current present, Ted was on the team with a proper USSR Red Rocket. Ted you were a superhero 32 years ago?
Also amused we got a zany Charlton Comics era villain back.
RED BEETLE IS BACK!!! Oh no. Also almost impossible for it to be Paco given various reboots, so… (I’m sure Ted is fine. They’re not killing him off permanently in the first issue of this)
Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville #1: BEA! TORA! “Each day is a gift, and I get to share it with my best friend!” (Howling. I’m howling. They’re going to spend this entire mini baiting us all aren’t they)
…Martha immediately starts comparing Fire & Ice to her and Jonathan. “Gorilla Grodd’s little sister” (whose name appears to be Linka Grodd? And who is queer).
NOOOO THEY’RE BREAKING UP! AND THEY WEREN’T EVEN TOGETHER! YOU TWO JUST LESBIANED YOURSELVES INTO A BUSINESS TOGETHER! AND A TWELVE MONTH LEASE!
“Abandoned by my best friend, maybe the only true friend I’ve known.” (Get a room together)
AWW YEAH AMBUSH BUG!!
I am going to thoroughly enjoy this BECAUSE the entire run will be queerbait and hopefully Bea and Tora might finally get to kiss or something in issue 6. I am ready for this. Just gals being pals.
City Boy #4: this remains outstanding in my opinion. I really like what they’re doing with Cameron, and they’re making using Darkseid actually make sense. Also Chemo blowing up Bludhaven has been recanonised!
Shazam! #3: “Dan Mora an alien?” bookmark ahhahahaha. The background details are where Mora really has fun.
NOT THE AUDITORS.
This just remains silly fun (the Moon Emperor?) so I’m enjoying it.
Warlord #18: this week in the land of Skartaris we apparently DID manage to get out of 500km of desert in a single issue. Amazing work, Grell.
Travis once again using his gun. How many bullets left, Travis, how many. Can you make more?
Then they get attacked by the BLOODMOON and kidnapped by space aliens for breeding purposes. After running away from a T-rex.
And then…TRAVIS MORGAN BONDAGE SCENE. I’ve missed these, Grell, how have you been coping?
Tumblr media
Travis gets transmuted into a minotaur. This will clearly only go well. (Sadly it gets fixed like three pages later)
Tara saves the day twice because Tara’s actually more competent than Travis.

Adopting A Pet Masterlist
And the void stared back (ao3) - TheRegularWriter G, 3k
Summary: In which Peter brings a cat home and Tony doesn't want to get attached.
Arrow (ao3) - orphan_account| clint/phil T, 7k
Summary: "Clint is halfway up to the scaffolding when he hears it, a faint whimper and the rustle of shifting plastic. He looks down and freezes.
One of the losing dogs, a brindled Pit Bull, is trying to crawl out from under the pile of bodies. His front paws scrabble for purchase on the plastic sheet and he’s whining and crying as he inches forward. "
A Tug In the Right Direction (ao3) - ali_aliska bucky/tony, bucky/tony/winter soldier T, 8k
Summary: On his way home, Tony finds an injured stray in an alley and despite his best intentions, ends up adopting the dog.
As dogs tend to do, the newest furry Compound resident makes everyone’s lives just a little bit brighter (unless one dares to wish harm upon Tony), up to and including throwing off the whole betting pool and accomplishing what the rest of the team had been unable to do in regards to the three pining idiots.
Catch Your Own Cat (ao3) - truelovetakesawhile G, 4k
Summary: Peter Parker missed out on a lot in life while being raised in a Hydra facility. Tony has just introduced him to a cat for the first time, and Peter is determined to enjoy as much time as possible with her if there's a chance she won't be allowed to stay. Shenanigans & fluff.
Finding Liho (ao3) - WhoLetThisHappen wanda/natasha G, 6k
Summary: At first, Natasha assumed that Tony had finally started balding. Sure, the hair on the sofa didn’t quite match his shade, but with the sheer amount of gel the billionaire used on a daily basis, it was bound to happen at some point. Then, when the milk started to disappear faster than usual, she assumed that Clint was just back on his Lucky Charm’s kick. The scratch marks on her favorite chair? A little less explainable, but then again, they lived in a compound full of superheroes. A lot of things around here were weird.
OR
Wanda really wants a cat, and Natasha really can't argue with her girlfriend.
fire escape (ao3) - sparkagrace steve/bucky T, 6k
Summary: “This dumb cat thinks it lives here.”
Bucky is peering through the window of their one-bed apartment in Bed-Stuy. There’s a white cat outside on their fire escape that is practically a ball of fluff against the wrought-iron.
Steve joins him at the window and coos. “Aw, it’s cute.”
“It’s begging for scraps. It’s a scam,” Bucky gripes.
— There's a cat that keeps coming to their fire escape. Bucky doesn't like it.
Fixing Myself to Find You (ao3) - Bardic_Beauty, WitchyLurker steve/bucky G, 5k
Summary: Post-Endgame Steve Rogers discovers that his soulmark has some in. This would be amazing after waiting almost 100 years for them, except it came in when he was doing humanitarian work, so he has no idea who it is.
Bucky Barnes is a one-armed engineer who isn't sure what to do after the dusting of half the earth and the returning of them all. So he goes soul searching, but not soulmate searching after finding his mark lit up in his new temporary housing.
Will they find each other after therapy and soul-searching? Only time will tell.
Also, there's lots of cute animals.
Forever Home (ao3) - PhenixFlare loki/tony G, 1k
Summary: Tony's not really a cat person, but apparently Loki is.
Luck Be a Lady (ao3) - toli-a (togina)| steve/bucky T, 2k
Summary: Get a dog, Clint says, as though a dog is going to prevent Steve from trying to dismantle the shadows, or Bucky from trying to dismantle Steve.
Making Me A Habit (ao3) - Kangofu_CB clint/bucky T, 20k
Summary: Bucky is a disabled vet struggling with reintegrating into civilian life. He has a routine and a rhythm, and he doesn't like to let anything - big or small - disrupt it. That all changes the day Bucky finds himself inside CATastrophe, the local pet rescue, recovering from a panic attack in the back room of the shop.
He’s used to walking by the place, not visiting, but the next thing Bucky knows, he’s hanging signs and being used as a climbing tree for a bunch of freshly-acquired kittens. And he just...keeps going back. First for the kittens, then for the disaster shop owner who rescues actual kittens from actual trees and teaches archery as a side-gig, and eventually because he’s hopelessly in love.
(Clint was in love before Bucky ever walked in the door.
That's no cat (ao3) - sharkinterviewee peter/gamora T, 2k
Summary: There's a sharp intake of breath from beside him before Gamora started weakly hitting his arm to get his attention.
“Peter, I want it,” she said, staring straight ahead. Her eyes were impossibly wide, her voice hushed in that way that reminded him of a kid that was too excited and completely overwhelmed, with that quiet bit of wonder that made it seem like they were seconds away from shutting down in the face of something too amazing to process.
He looked over and followed her gaze to find what had her all worked up. Safe to say he was surprised to find that Gamora was staring at a cat. A kitten, to be more accurate.
Even though she had his full attention, she hadn't stopped tap tap tapping on his upper arm with her whole hand, insistent as she marveled at the creature she couldn't seem to look away from.
He looked back and forth between Gamora and the animal she was staring at. Then he squinted at her. “You want one of those?”
Gamora nodded, turning to him expectantly. “Go get me that black one. We have a connection. It wants to come home with us.”
The Addressing of Cats (ao3) - Selenay darcy/natasha G, 1k
Summary: Darcy and Natasha are definitely not adopting a kitten. Not even a dumpster kitten. Not even a dumpster kitten with a pink nose. Definitely not.
The Nesting Season (ao3) - fangirlSevera clint/phil T, 6k
Summary: Spring is the time of year when families grow, and so it is for Clint who wants to adopt a dog.
In the meantime, professors and students alike are being run ragged as the end of the college semester draws near.
there's no place i'd rather be, without you beside me (ao3) - ircnshield steve/tony T, 10k
Summary: “I don’t think he wants you to leave,” Natasha jokes from the couch.
“Yeah, no kidding,” Tony says as he bends down to scratch behind the dog's ear. “Look, buddy, I’ll give you a treat if you stop looking at me like that and let me go down to my lab.”
Dodger, seemingly unimpressed, walks closer towards Tony’s shoes, turns his body around, and simply drops his body on top of them.

~~~~~~~<3~~~~~~~
Haze covered the ground as moonlight shone down onto the lonely streets of Gotham, under the light laid a body on the ground with blood seeping around it. Darkness swallowed the moon with eerie clouds as a male wearing a clown mask would lick blood off a knife he held and howl with laughter.
Waking up in a puddle of sweat on the other side of Gotham, a young female no older than 15 would breathe heavily as she looked around for something to cling onto, though too late because her palms were bleeding due to them being clenched for so long and hard. She would get up, going into the bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror; her yellow eyes had bags under them while her hands were bruised. Sighing softly she would sit on the closed toilet and wrap them with gauze that was sitting out, assumingly from her parents who forgot to put it away. “That stupid dream again… Elizabeth Vail what’s wrong with you…”
###
“… You don’t think it’s a dream huh?” A female with blonde hair would ask a female that had green skin and red-brown hair. The two stood in the Watchtower alongside the green one’s lover.
“I don’t believe it is, from the sounds of it happening so frequently it could be a warning.” The green skinned female would say as she ran her fingers through her short hair. “If she will let me look through her brain I can probably get a better idea.”
“You know that’s not right, M’gann, she isn’t the type of person to let someone sort through her memories.” A male wearing a skin tight black tee shirt with the superman logo on it would say with a slight annoyance seeping through his voice. The green female— M’gann would roll her eyes as she heard the Zeta Tube announce a few members' arrivals into the tower. Nightwing— Richard would enter followed by Eclipse— Ava, Batman— Bruce, Robin— Tim, Green Arrow— Oliver, and Elizabeth would enter, talking amongst themselves.
“I never knew you could throw a punch like that, if I hadn’t dodged that would’ve hurt.” Green Arrow huffed a chuckle as he ruffled Elizabeth’s hair, “babe, you should’ve seen her in action, she was amazing, Liz took down two villains by herself today.” The arrow user said as he would walk over to Black Canary— Dinah, the first female, holding her hand as he looked at the bat family and his daughter. Superman— Clark followed by Helix— Amelie would quickly follow, the two talking amongst themselves when entering before noticing everyone else, making them open up more.
“How was your mission, Ba—“ Superman’s words would be cut short as Helix placed a hand on his chest, signaling him not to speak.
Black Canary would watch her adopted daughter, she would be holding onto Robin’s shoulder, steading herself from falling it seemed. “Lizzy, what’s wrong…?” The bird heroine would ask as she watched the child let go of her friend's shoulder, before stumbling, almost falling if it wasn’t for Robin grabbing onto her again, pulling her against him.
“Elizabeth?” He asked as he slowly moved into a sitting position on the ground, letting her sit in his lap.
“I-I’ll go get some ice!” M’gann said as she ran off, Superboy— Conner/M’gann’s boyfriend would rest a hand on Elizabeth’s forehead, sighing,
“She’s warm, but she seems fin—“
“Guys, give her some space, crowding around her like this is making it impossible for her to speak.” Eclipse would sigh as everyone would scoot backward. Elizabeth would sigh softly, thanking Eclipse before looking at the room.
“I just… I haven’t slept well, I think it’s because of the dreams I keep having.” Elizabeth said as she would stand up, with Robin holding onto her still, worried almost.
“What dreams?” Superboy asked.
Elizabeth would clench her fist as she looked down, sighing. “It’s been happening for like a month now, there are nights when it’s just this guy holding a balloon repeating the words ‘I will find you.’; and then there are nights where he is actually killing people… I see the reports on the news about a mysterious killer out on the loose and they look the same as the one in my dreams… recently when he just stands there his words are now ‘I’m closer now, you will die soon!’ a-and behind him there is a wall with the word die on it written in blood…” Her eyes would shake slightly as she felt her hand shake. “I-I don’t know who this person is or why they’re after me…” She would whimper softly. Robin would grab her shaking hand and rub it soothingly.
“Whoever this guy is, he will be turned in.” Robin would say as Batman went to the computer, he would sigh in a complaining way.
“This is the guy?” He asked as Elizabeth confirmed it, Batman and Superman’s eyes would sharpen on their faces. “Arid. He worked alongside the Joker for years before he abandoned the Joker and murdered two superheroes before getting locked up in Belle Reve… 10 years ago. It seems someone paid his sentence fee and now he’s free from jail… out to kill you.”
“Killl me? Why me?” Elizabeth asked.
“Because… your parents were the two superheroes he murdered the night he was arrested.” Green Arrow sighed as he looked at the young female. “Ember and Spark; respectively the fire warrior and the crystal warrior; Your father, Nick Vail/Ember was a firefighter in his human life, but as a hero, he was one of the best, meanwhile your mother, Lexi Vail/Spark was a meteorologist in her human life; They fought side by side, they ended up having you even before they got married, when you were just born, they wed one another… and when you were just 5… they were slaughtered on their anniversary night… me and Dinah were watching you that night while your parents were out… but they never came to get you, then the worst happened… and after that, we kept you, the league wiped all existence of Ember and Spark, not wanting to relive the trauma from that night.”
Elizabeth would look down as she would lift her hand, trying to summon any bit of power she contained, though nothing came out. Helix would watch in silence letting her face fall, worried for Elizabeth. Robin would take her hand in his as he peeled his mask off, “Let’s go out for a bit, get some fresh air, you need it.” He would say as he dragged her off to the Zeta Tube. Black Canary sighed and turned away from everyone, her eyes shaking as she looked down clenching her fists.
###
Walking through the streets of a carnival, music playing softly as lights flashed to the music, Elizabeth walked alongside Tim, the two of them holding hands still, smiling like the goofs they are. “Tim…” Elizabeth’s gentle voice asked as she looked at him. Tim noticed her facial features drop, saddened.
“Liz..? What’s wrong?” He asked as the two stopped walking, facing his school friend. Elizabeth felt her face sink more into sadness as tears began to well up in her yellow eyes. Tim’s blue ones widened as he pulled her into a calming embrace letting the girl cry.
“I-I don’t want to be the worthless, weak, unpowerful daughter of heroes…” Elizabeth would say through her tears as she buried her face against his neck trying to calm herself. Tim’s face would blush gently as he looked around, sighing softly.
“Liz, you’re not worthless or weak.” Tim said as he rubbed soft circles on her back, a gentle smile crossing his lips as he loosened up some, calming himself. He felt the girl calm down after a moment, though they stayed in the position, smiling softly against each other’s hold. “You’ve trained every second you can with us, you also literally took down two— not one but TWO— supervillains today even without powers.”
Elizabeth would finally bring herself away from Tim’s hold and remove the sunglasses the boy wore, placing them on his head. “Thanks, Tim.” She said finally bringing a smile to her cheeks. Tim would blush gently before placing a hand on her head, ruffling her hair gently. After playing games and chatting all night, the two finally decided to head home. Tim would keep his hands fiddling with a fidget toy to keep his mind sane while Elizabeth fiddled with the zipper on the boy’s jacket, smiling like a goofball as she wore it. A sudden eerie vibe set the two back some as they glanced at one another. “C’mon… let’s hurry back…” Elizabeth said as Tim pocketed the fidget toy, taking Elizabeth’s hand.
The sound of something falling made Tim quickly pull Elizabeth against his body as a metal sign fell next to them. “Run!” Tim yelled as he held her hand, running in front while she ran behind him. They suddenly came to a stop at a cliff making the young bat boy’s eyes widen as he looked around. “Shit…”
“Glad to see you again, my boy.” A maniacal laugh would pierce the two heroes' ears. Tim would make a mix between a weak/angered face as he saw the white faced, green haired villain appear right before his eyes. Tim turned to Elizabeth and quickly placed his grappling hook in her hands.
“Get out of here, quick, go find Batman and tell him he’s back.” Tim said quickly as he pulled his mask from his pocket and placed it on the girl's face. “No questions— just go!” Elizabeth watched as the boy turned back around getting into a fighting stance holding some batarangs. “I won’t let you take me again!” He yelled at the Joker, his face turning enraged.
The Joker would laugh and point his gun at the two, “Bang~” Tim watched as a golden bullet flew past his eyes, watching the bullet graze Elizabeth before she fell backwards off the cliff.
“NO!”
“YES!”
###
Waking up after who knows how long, Elizaberh would slowly open her yellow eyes, blinking slowly as she sat up, flinching. “Oh thank god you’re okay Lizzy…” Black Canary would breathe out as she would hold her daughter’s hand.
“We were so worried when we found you on the ground unconscious with a bullet wound.” Green Arrow said. They were in the batcave…? But why? Nightwing stood to the side looking at the computer with Oracle and Eclipse while Batman was standing with his kids. Superman and Helix were leaning against the wall near Elizabeth’s bed, smiling softly as she awoke.
“Tim…?” She would softly ask, looking around. Green Arrow and Black Canary would both tense and look at one another.
“He… isn’t here.” Green Arrow said as he took his mask off, placing it on his daughter’s bed. “Liz… you fell off a cliff with his grappling hook and mask clenched in your hand… Tiim wasn’t anywhere.” Elizabeth would look to the side table and feel her eyes widen. They filled up with tears as she took the mask into her fingers feeling the fabric. He was gone… Frustration took over her feelings before they froze in a matter of seconds seeing the computer screen change to a video from the Joker and Arid.
“Ah~ Batman; good to see ya.” The Joker’s mincing laugh would pierce everyone’s ears, “I got something here that you may want~” The Joker would step back and reveal a bloody Tim. “If I don’t see you, hand over the girl to Arid… Then the boy dies.” The Joker would say as he walked over to Tim, throwing him onto the ground. “Guys don’t do it I—“ Tim’s words were cut short by blood trickling from his lips, clearly in pain. “6PM, at the Gotham Park, not a minute late or the boy dies, JUST Batman, the girl and Nightwing.”
As the video ended, Green Arrow would hold Black Canary close to him, Nightwing was shaking with anger while Eclipse tried to calm him, Batman had an enraged look on his face and Elizabeth, she was in pure shock, hands shaking as she felt like screaming, throwing up and crying all at once. “I’m going.” Elizabeth said standing up, she ignored the pain as she clenched the grappling hook in her hand before walking over to all of Batman’s supplies grabbing Tim’s utility belt, placing it on.
Eclipse would grab her shoulders and make her face her, “Elizabeth, calm down. You’re not just going to rush in there.” She said, Elizabeth shook her head and showed her the time. 530.
“I have 30 minutes to be there to save Tim before he dies! Eclipse, I can’t let that happen.” Elizabeth would push Eclipse off her shoulders before putting the belt on.
“Elizabeth, you HAVE to stop.” Helix would say walking in front of her. “If you go, there’s a chance it could be trapped, Nightwing and Batman can’t always protect you.” She would state the obvious.
“You don’t think I can beat them?” Elizabeth asked, cocking an eyebrow.
“Honestly? No. I don’t think you can, two supervillains that have been around for who knows how long want you dead and you think— as powerless as you are right now— that you can beat them?” Helix would scoff and hold her hands into the air, “You're so wrong.”
“Helix—“ Superman said as he sighed, walking up, placing a hand on her shoulder, pulling her back. “You gotta stop.” He said rubbing his temple, “—looks Liz, what Helix is trying to say is that she doesn’t want you getting hurt, none of us do.”
Elizabeth would look to the metal ceiling of the batcave, tears welling up in her eyes, “I know it's risky, but I can't bear the thought of losing him too. I have to face the Joker and that stupid villain, for my parents and for us. I can't let fear stop me from trying to save him… Tim has been there for me countless times, it’s time I do the same for him.”
Superman would gently wipe away Elizabeth's tears and sighed again, “I understand your determination, Elizabeth. We'll do everything we can to help you save Tim and keep you safe. Just promise me you'll be careful.” Elizabeth would nod softly and look at Batman and Nightwing, both slightly on edge, but also ready to go.
“Let’s do this…”
###
Standing in the blocked off park, Batman and Nightwing both stood in front of Elizabeth, determination and anger firing in their eyes. Standing across the way was The Joker and Arid, as promised, with Tim on the ground, dried blood covering his body. “Oh Tim…” Elizabeth whispered as the bat boy rolled over, making eye contact with them.
“L-liz…?” He uttered, shocked to see her.
The Joker would look at the clock and smirk softly, “Time’s up, Batman, hand the girl over or my partner here will kill him… and I’m pretty sure you don’t want him to die, not like your last Robin.” Batman and Nightwing’s faces turned darker than normal, both of them seeming to hold every urge to not fight. Elizabeth looked down, stepping past the two elder bat boys, walking in between both groups. Arid would also step forward holding. his hand out to her,
“Come here, Vail.” Hearing the commotion from Nightwing and Tim to stop, she closed her eyes and gave her hand to Arid, who pulled her roughly to him, laughing. “Finally! The last Vail is mine!!!” He would look to the Joker, “Let the bat boy go, we have what we want.”
“Elizabeth!” Batman would yell, the Joker sighed and threw Tim down.
“I can’t believe I agreed to this…” The Joker would grumble walking to Arid’s side, “lets go.”
“Wait—“ Arid looked at Elizabeth and cocked an eyebrow, “—let me say goodbye first… please…” She whispered, her eyes pleading. Arid would look to the side and loosen his grip, letting go.
“Quickly.”
Elizabeth bolted to Tim and helped him stand, her arms wrapping around his waist, tears welling in her eyes again, “Tim… you’re… you’re okay… you’re okay…” She whispered, hiccuping as she hyperventilated slightly, her hand running along his cheek and back. Tim flinched, but smiled hugging her back.
“Liz… I’m okay… you didn’t have to do this though, I would’ve been fine… now you’re going instead of me…” Tim would rub her cheek, moving a tear. Elizabeth would think for a moment and take off his jacket, confusing Tim, even more when she placed his jacket in his hands before backing up, next to Arid, “L-liz—“ His eyes would widen, shaking as he tried to reach out for her. Elizabeth would look down, clenching her eyes as the Joker kicked Tim back, Nightwing and Batman both caught the boy,
“Shit— ELIZABETH!” Nightwing yelled, watching the three disappear.
###
Looking at the unnaturally fancy room Elizabeth kept her arms close to her body as she looked around, posters and famous paintings everywhere. “Making yourself at home?” Arid asked, walking around her, he was a slender dude with slicked back black hair, a black & red eye while the other was white & green, his skin was tan and he had a black handlebar mustache.
“W-why haven’t you killed me yet…” Elizabeth asked softly.
Arid would laugh and circle the wine he carried in his cup, he would lift it above her head and pour the wine over the girl's body making her yelp at the cold feeling rushing over her body, the room getting significantly colder on top of that. “Because, Miss Vail~ I’m going to enjoy killing you, I had to give you parents a quick death, but you? I can torture you to death… I think today… Let's start with some… mental pain.” He would laugh as he left the room. Elizabeth slid to the ground as she shivered, tears staining her cheeks as she noticed the room becoming foggy, memory gas. Her eyes would widen as she tried to hold her breath, scared. The gas would fog her mind, and everything else as she felt herself struggling to breath, she looked towards a window feeling her tears well in her eyes before everything went black.
“Elizabeth, what do you think you’re doing!” The high pitched scream coming from Helix who looked horrified, confused, she would look down to see Superman, struggling to breathe, he had a stab wounds to the heart, choking on something as well. Helix would shove Elizabeth aside and bend down, “Clark? Clark!” Helix cried out as she shook the dying hero. “Clark, c-come on wake up… CLARK!” Elizabeth shook her head and stepped back, shaking. She would bump into a chest turning around quickly, Batman. He looked at Elizabeth and swung at her, the female dodged quickly, heavily breathing, scared.
“How dare you kill him!” He screamed as he swung again. Elizabeth dodged before getting hammered in the back by a tomahawk, followed by a bo staff sending her flying into the black void, struggling to stand. Once she managed to get to her feet she saw Tim.
“T-tim!” She whimpered standing up, grasping his shoulders. “I-I didn’t do it! I didn’t kill him!” She would cry, shaking him. Tim would shove her off of him and back up, joining a dashing male’s side, holding his hand.
“You didn’t just do that… you destroyed everything, you destroyed our home, your parents, us, all of it, thrown away because of you.” He grumbled.
“Hey hey…” The dashing male would say, rubbing his hand, “Let’s go Tim, she’s not worth your time.” He said, walking into the void, leaving Elizabeth alone.
The scene would whirl around to her standing in front of her parents in her dad’s house, yelling coming from both of them… but it was all directed at her. The house was badly destroyed on the inside, burns and blood everywhere as spit flew from her raging father and high pitched shouting from her mother. Tears just fell as she held her head, covering her ears crying. Nothing was right. It didn’t make sense. Nothing made sense.
The scene would change again, with her back in the void, staring into the darkness for miles and miles. All she did was scream, that’s all she could do, scream. She didn’t kill Superman. She didn’t ruin things with Tim. She didn’t do anything to make her parents mad. So what happened!
“Elizabeth…?” Fear struck the girl as she turned around slowly, gentle glowing figures who she couldn’t really make out were standing in front of her now. “I know things seem tough… but you will get through it… just hold on a little longer, my little flame you’re doing so good…” A masculine voice spoke, he glowed a reddish-orange color.
“I’m so proud of you baby, you’ve become an amazing hero even with your dormant powers.” A feminine voice spoke, she glowed a pinkish-purple color. Elizabeth stretched her hand out to them with a sad smile on her face, the figures floated back though, “It’s not time.. Not yet, Lizzy.” The female mumbled sadly before they both vanished with a poof.
Awakening in a puddle of sweat, Elizabeth looked around the place, locked in the lonely room still. She had purple marks on her arms, seemingly from herself. “Did you enjoy that?” Arid asked over the speakers in the room. Elizabeth just shook her head, soft whimpers escaped still.
###
Stepping into the Batcave after cleaning up, Tim kept his hands on the bo staff, a familiar comforting feeling taking control of him. “It’s good to be home…” He said as he shrunk his staff placing it into a strap on his back.
“Good to see that you’re awake.” Ava would say.
“It really is, Alfred, said you didn’t have as many injuries as we anticipated.” Richard would say and smile softly, rubbing the current Robin’s head. “Bruce isn’t happy that you sacrificed yourself though.” Richard said, making a face.
“It’s better than letting him get Liz…” Tim quickly said as he looked down, “I was abused by the Joker… but I was never his target…” Tim felt tears sting his eyes, “I overheard him talking to this guy, Arid, he killed Liz’s parents and is also after her life… but instead of the quick death, he is going to torture her..” He would clench his fist and punch the wall next to him, it made Ava and Richard jump in shock at his reaction.
“He’s gonna torture her…?” Dinah would ask in shock as she overheard the conversation, her eyes shook as she sunk onto the ground, crying, overwhelmed by emotions.
Oliver would rest a hand on his fiance’s shoulder and let his mind run quickly with every idea springing through his brain. “Did he take her to the place you were held at?”
Bruce would enter the room and shake his head, “Arid is a lot smarter than that, there is no way he would take her there.” Bruce would go to the computer and start searching things up.
“Dad, let me.” Ava said as she would join his side, she bent down next to him and started searching, quicker than him. Richard would watch, smiling softly at his girlfriend's behavior to her father.
As the bat dad and daughter worked Tim sighed and turned to everyone, “Arid mentioned that he used to be a hero.. Dr. Medical I believe he said that he used to love Spark, who is her mom.. He worked on a team with Spark and Ember, until Ember fell in love with Spark and they ended up getting married, it left Arid fuming… he ended up killing Spark when he was trying to kill Ember instead… then… he became mad knowing Elizabeth was still alive, since her hair color and skin tone match her father while her eyes match her mother… all he sees is her father and that's why he wants to kill her.” Tim would sigh softly, running a hand through his hair. He would look at the belt that sat in his hand and sighed, “We’re going to get her back, I can promise that.”
###
A few days would pass by and Elizabeth could hardly stay awake, her pink tee shirt torn, her shoes burned as well as her pants. She would look down at the dried blood along her legs making her unable to stand as she eyed the bruises and burns. Everything hurt as she laid there with a hand over her yellow eyes, tears unable to fall due to over crying. She would close her eyes feeling the room get even colder, her body shivering. Parts of her body turned purple with the coldness. “I’m really going to die here… huh…” She whispered as she felt the overwhelming sensation of death awaiting her. “I failed everyone… Helix was right… there is no way I could’ve won… I’m not strong enough to take care of myself, I haven’t trained for as long as anyone else… Dad tried to train me, Zatanna and Eclipse did as well… Helix tried too but none of it worked.” Elizabeth would lift her hand off her eyes and stare at the unfriendly looking hand. “I guess I’ll get to meet my parents… sooner than I thought…” Closing her eyes, she finally accepted her defeat. She would feel herself go…
Waking up in the oh-so-familiar black void, Elizabeth looked down at her clothes, a simple whitish-green dress with her long light brown hair tied with a pink bow. Her yellow eyes would blink at the surrounding empty void. Elizabeth's heart skips a beat once she turned around and saw two familiar faces in front of her. Confusion and disbelief wash over her as she realizes that these strangers from earlier “I-i know you guys!” She gasped out.
The one glowing orange-red would chuckle and shake his head, “Are you sure you remember us? I don’t think you do.”
“You didn’t even recognize her at first!” The one glowing pink would scold the orange-red one and sighed, hissing in annoyance. Elizabeth would hesitate, unsure of how to react, but a glimmer of recognition flickers in her eyes. Slowly, the pieces start to come together, and a mix of emotions floods her. It's a bittersweet moment, filled with shock, curiosity, and a longing to know more about these people who share her blood.
“Mom… Dad… no way… W-wait this means… I’m dead OMG!” Elizabeth would gasp out as she held her face, hyperventilating. The purple-pink one would quickly grab Elizabeth’s hands and pull them off her face, blowing on her face trying to calm her down.
“Hey hey— no no no, you need to calm down… Elizabeth— look at me!” The purple-pink one— Lexi Vail/Spark would say. The orange-red one— Nick Vail/Ember would sigh and rub Elizabeth’s head.
“Lizzy, you’re not dead… not yet anyway, look… we’re here to help you.” Nick said as he backed up and crossed his arms, smirking. “This is going to hurt… maybe.” He said and tilted his head, chuckling gently before filling it with flaming fire. Lexi rolled her eyes at her husband before holding her hand out with freezing crystals. “Take our hands… come on little one.” He said gently. Elizabeth looked down at their hands and shakingly grabbed both of them, her eyes widened as she suddenly screamed feeling power raging through her body, purple-pink and orange-red energy flung through her body, glowing. Everything hurt as the girl fell to her knees feeling her body absorb the energy.
After a few moments, Elizabeth would open her eyes, both of them glowing the theme colors of her parents. “Wha… What is this overwhelming… power…” She whispered as she stood up; the left side of her body flooding with the cold beauty of the crystal powers while the right side of her body surging with the hot gracefulness of the fire powers. “I…I feel so alive!” She yelled out as she shot powers into the void, jumping in surprise. “Oh my gosh! I just did that!” She gasped before looking at her parents who smirked in admiration at their daughter.
“Now… Liz hun, you’re going back to the living side…” Lexi said as she rubbed her daughter’s cheek before holding her husband’s hand; the parents opening a white void behind them. “Go home Liz, please… you’re not meant to be dead.”
Elizabeth looked at her parents confused. “Won’t.. won’t you two be gone then…?” She whispered as her dad pushed her toward the white void.
“We will… but we are apart of you now, we awoke your powers… at the cost of our lives… well what is left of us anyway.” Nick laughed before he bent down and kissed his daughter’s forehead. Lexi would do the same thing. “Go on.” He mumbled as he gently pushed her forward. Elizabeth smiled at her parents before mumbling a thank you before going into the white void.
Awakening in the pitch black, freezing room. Elizabeth would sit up, in the torn clothes making her sigh. She questioned if the dream she had was even real, but she felt better, more alive… She would look down and watched her right hand flare up, making her yelp softly, “It’s real!” She gasped. She looked around and stood up slowly as she rolled her arms, warming up her body. She would smirk and hold her hand to the wall and watched it catch fire. A snicker would escape her lips before watching the room start burning. She would laugh and throw her head back, her eyes glowing the colors of her powers.
###
“Woah— a massive fire just broke out at the old abandoned manor…” Helix said in shock as she scrolled through the news on her phone. Superman made a face and leaned over the former villain's shoulder.
“The fire is pink— how can a fire be pink?” Superman asked, making a confused face.
Richard would take the phone and look at the article, “No signs of any gas lines or oil around there… the only way to start something—“
“Police and Firefighters say nobody can get inside… that fire is over 500 degrees…” Ava added.
Tim would look down, sighing in annoyance. “Guys we HAVE to find Elizabeth, this fire isn’t any of our business.” He said, making a face.
“Tim, we’re trying… let's try to deal with this fire, it may lead us to something.” Bruce said, “Superman, Helix, Green Arrow, Nightwing and Robin, go. Oracle, Canary, Eclipse and I will keep searching.”
“But Bru—“ Tim would receive a glare from Bruce making him go quiet. “Fine… let’s just get this over with…” He grumbled.
The team would arrive on to the scene, Superman and Helix taking to the sky, “Robin… something isn’t right… yes this fire is hot but… there’s someone standing inside of it.” Superman would utter to the bat boy who looked confused.
Squinting his eyes in the pink flames he made out a figure in the flames. A white and pink hair ribbon fell infront of his face fragily making his eyes widen as he quickly rushed forward. “ROBIN!” Nightwing would yell as he tried to grab the panicking 16 year old.
“No… no no no…” Robin would yell as he ran. Helix and Superman would fly to try to grab the boy, but before they could the fire made a path open up. Helix would quickly pull Superman back, holding onto him. Robin would rush into the pathway making him confused when he came to a stop infront of a female. Her hair was down all the way as her clothes were ripped and tattered. Tears stung the young boy’s eyes. “Lizzy…” He gasped out as the fire closed behind him, leaving the two unharmed.
Elizabeth turned her head back to see the cleaner up bat boy prior from the other day. “Tim…” She whispered in awe as the girl would stop the fire on her hands before looking him up and down. Overwhelmed with emotion, she would step back, scared. Robin would take a step forward and grab her hand.
“It’s me.. in the flesh.” He whispered as he placed her hand over his heart. “I’m alive… and this beating heart proves it.” Robin would pull her into a hug as Elizabeth’s eyes filled with tears, Robin would tighten the hug as the two slid onto the ground, the fire around them disappearing.
“Robin!” Nightwing called out again as he made his way over to the two followed by everyone else that was there. A smile fell onto the blue bird's face, “Lizzy… you’re okay…” He spoke as Helix quickly flew down, followed by Superman who held Helix in his arms as the girl would feel her body shake.
“S-something… isn’t right…” Helix mumbled as she laid in Superman’s arms. The muscular hero would notice a stone on the ground making him hold Helix closer.
“Because this place is surrounded with Yalex energy… it’s hurtful to you.” Superman said as he looked at everyone. “C’mon; we saved Elizabeth, now we need to go, before things get worse.” He said as he flew back, trying to save the weakened girl in his arms. Everyone else would retreat back, Robin holding onto Elizabeth. A swoosh sound would be heard resulting in Elizabeth quickly turning around, throwing up a massive crystal, blocking the attack.
“Have fun getting through Obsidian.” Elizabeth smirked softly before screaming was heard on the other side, the crystal breaking.
“You— You stupid girl get back here!!!” Arid yelled as he ran at Elizabeth. Robin and her made eye contact, ready to fight. An arrow pierced Arid in the stomach before it was followed by 3 more arrows.
“Hurt my daughter again… and I won’t miss your heart next time.” Green Arrow growled as he lowered his bow. Elizabeth turned to her adopted father and bolted into his arms, “I missed you so much baby…” Green Arrow whispered as he picked up his daughter into a tight hug.
Once he released her, Elizabeth rushed to Nightwing and hugged him. “I’m glad you’re back kiddo… Tim hasn’t slept well these few days.” He said and patted her head.
“Who says Tim sleeps even when I am here?” Elizabeth commented; the two sharing a small laugh before the younger turned to Helix and Superman, walking over to them. “Helix… Superman… I’m… I’m sorry… for acting the way I did and not upholding my promise. I thought I could beat Arid, and save Tim without any issues… but look at the mess I caused.”
Helix would lean down and gently pull Elizabeth into a hug. “I’m not mad… I was just worried… me and Clark may not be your parents, or adopted parents, but we both see you like a daughter we don’t have…” Helix would rub her cheek and smile softly. “I’m glad you’re okay.” Superman would nod in agreement as he watched Helix stand back up and join his open arms.
Elizabeth would feel arms wrap around her back making her flinch but lean into his hold. She smiled, not even needing to turn around, knowing who the back hug was from. She would rub his cheek and smile softly, feeling her tears fall freely again. The painful memories of the feeling of death… now to this moment of standing here around the people she loved, it was all so much. She would turn around in the bat boy’s arms and hold his cheeks. “Tim…” Just with the whisper of his name, nothing else and nothing more, the masked boy melted as he leaned in and did what he should’ve done along ago, kiss her.
rating the justice league's theoretical fits for the met gala:
batman: 0/10 doesn't show up no matter how much his kids beg him to. on an unrelated note bruce wayne has fallen down the stairs
superman: 4/10 kryptonian fashion is cool but this is the guy who put on a wallmart uniform to go to a double date with catwoman. i don't trust his fashion choices
wonder woman: 100/10 amazing spectacular showstopping. she's wearing themyscira's hottest ceremonial armour and showing so much muscle it's a miracle nobody has fainted yet. this look becomes an entire generation's gay awakening. and it's also confortable enough to kill enemies on!
flash: 6/10 it's not very impressive but it's fun. he's not afraid of wearing vibrant colors but on very basic pieces. i think he's the kind of guy who would wear a red tux and think he has made some kind of point. but again, fun
cyborg: 5/10 vic is a rare combination of jock and nerd and unfortunately that isn't good for fashion. like he could pull something if he tried, he has the figure and the face, he could totally wear a suit with cyberpunk accents, but unfortunately he doesn't feel confortable taking the risk so he sticks with his prom tux. shame
aquaman: 10/10, 16/10 if we're talking jason momoa's aquaman. like yeah people might say he's the dorkiest superhero but wait until he shows up in a luminescent blue suit, no shirt, tits out, blue coral and silver jewelry, shark teeth earring, hair in a messy bun, iridescent eye makeup, queen mera as his date wearing a dress made out of actual waves. god i'm so bi
green lantern: 3/10 he follows the theme but it's not a great outfit. points for trying
green arrow: 11/10 and it pisses EVERYONE off. most of his points come from coordinating with dinah and from being the sluttiest bitch on the gala. he's here to have fun and show hole and by god he will deliver
black canary: 67/10 what can i say? she's a punk rock icon, she wears fishnets to work, she's not afraid of taking risks because she knows whatever she tries she will ace, that's her superpower. oh and ollie is her armpiece so that also counts.
martian manhunter: 2/10 you can't just show up in your work uniform, it doesn't matter that it's composed by a blue speedo and a red harness, it doesn't count. next time get m'gann to help you out man
shazam: 0/10 is a kid, his fashion sense comes from tiktok, no i won't allow it
zatanna: 9/10 she wears tuxedos on the daily so it kind of loses some of its effect but still oh my fucking god. oh my god. jesus fucking christ.
nightwing: 0/10 unless the theme is 80's fashion, then he kills it
avengers x teen!fem!reader
summary: you get captured during a mission and the team saves you.
warnings: language, violence, brief misogyny, torture, **NO sexual assault (because as i was proofreading, i only implied most of the torture scenes because i didn't want to write it in graphic detail and i realised the vague wordings might be misinterpreted as sexual assault which IT IS NOT, just clearing it up), and also again, my inability to write good endings
word count: 4589
notes: i just rewatched iron man 2 so that explains justin hammer LMAO also ooc justin hammer because even tho mans evil, he gets extremely um.. cruel here but anyways i hope you enjoy this!!
you were 13 when you first met the avengers and 16 when you officially joined. you grew up as one of HYDRA's experimented children and the team had found you when they raided the base that you were in.
a small, sickly-looking kid you were, sat against your cell wall, hugging your knees. 13 but you could probably pass off as a 10 year old due to how malnourished and miserable you were. burying your head in between your knees, you covered your ears as the loud gunshot noises filled the whole place. the metal door of your cell slamming open against the wall had you whimpering, hands above your head in fear.
every time the door slammed open, guards would come drag you out for more experiments so it was an instinct for you to cower in fear at the sound.
"last room in the west hall, i found a little girl."
you heard nothing because you were covering your ears, preparing yourself to be forcefully dragged by the guards to the experiment room. but it never came.
"hey," a soft voice called. you were violently shaking at this point, breathing heavily as you tried to calm down. "hey, it's okay." the voice called out again and you felt them touch your shoulders.
your head immediately jolted up, flinching away from the stranger's touch. your eyes met a blue pair as you backed away into the corner in fear. "i'm sorry! i'm sorry, i didn't mean to." the man apologised. you slowly looked up at him, observing him. he had on a full black outfit, a quiver of arrows slinging on his shoulder and he was holding onto a bow.
"don't be scared. i'm here to help," he states with his hands out, as if to calm you down. "that's what they all say." you hissed through gritted teeth and a tear-stained face, glaring at him even though that could've been a very wrong move had it been with an actual HYDRA guard.
despite the strange feeling of being safe around this man, you didn't let your guard down. that's exactly what those scientists said seven years ago. trusting kind-looking men got you into this hell you never thought you would ever escape from and you weren't going to make the same mistake again.
"clint," a red-headed female, also in all black, entered through the open door of your cell with her pistol up. at the sight of the weapon, you broke your glare towards the man. your breathing quickened and you went back to your original position before the archer came; body pressed up against your knees and covering your ears with your palms.
"i'm sorry! i'm sorry! i'll come! please don't use that on me again," you whimpered, voice muffled as your face was hidden against your knees. the woman freezes mid-walk, looking at her friend with a bewildered expression.
"nat! put that away!" clint whispered harshly, eyes glaring at the pistol in nat's hands. nat's jaw dropped in realisation, a small gasp leaving her lips as she immediately put away her weapon.
she slowly makes her way to you and clint puts his arm out before she could get closer. he looks at her with a worried expression as he shook his head, as if telling her that she can't get too close to you. nat nods understandingly, crouching down a distance from you.
"hey," she spoke softly. "i promise you that we're not here to hurt you." you kept your face hidden from her, still hugging your legs tightly. nat sighs before sitting down.
"here, let's introduce ourselves. i'm nat and this right here is clint." you hear her speak and when you slowly lifted up your head, you saw the both of them sitting down in front of you, seeming to have made themselves at home in your pathetic cell. "what's your name?"
name? you had never been able to use your name before. you always kept your own name deep in your heart despite no one ever using it, afraid you would forget it if you stopped thinking of it. the only name they ever called you here was 'number five'.
"y/n," you whispered, still doubtful about these people's intentions. you almost burst out crying when you said your name out loud. that was the first time you introduced yourself with your actual name and not the number you were given ever since you were captured.
nat must have noticed this because she immediately spoke up, trying to distract you from your consuming thoughts. "y/n...that's a pretty name for a pretty girl like you. how old are you, y/n?" she asks again.
you contemplated once more but decided it was fine. you knew you were probably going to regret trusting these two strangers but what could be worse than what HYDRA has been doing to you for years?
"13," you muttered, looking down at your lap. you were now timidly seated cross-legged, playing with the tattered hem of your shorts. you heard a small gasp from one of them and looked up to see clint with his jaw dropped.
the two adults were both thinking of the same thing. how could you be 13? you were so small and sickly-looking, they didn't even think you were older than ten, let alone an early teen.
"i know you're scared and you have all the reasons in the world to be, but i promise you, we're here to help. we'll get you out of here, only if you trust us. will you trust us?" nat says. your mind was conflicted. you were either going to finally get out of this hellhole or you were going to be taken somewhere even worse than here. but could anywhere really be worse than here?
you decided to take a leap of faith and trust these two strangers. that decision had to have been the best decision you've ever made in your life.
you were now 18, an official avenger and you had the most amazing family you could've ever asked for. they were a bit on the crazier side but could you really have a normal family when said family consisted of superheroes? but you weren't complaining. you loved these people.
they were the ones who took care of you when you thought you had no one. having been a HYDRA experiment, you had abilities the normal human didn't. said ability being shapeshifting and healing. that's why you became an avenger. your shapeshifting ability was essential during missions where you had to sneak in and you being able to heal others was crucial when medic wasn't able to be there on time.
you pretty much came along to every mission despite the adults saying you don't have to. you knew they were only doing that to protect you from dangers of all those missions but how could you not when you had such abilities? they'd be much better with you helping.
that was why you were here, in bulgaria, fighting alongside the team. well, just steve, nat, clint, bucky and tony.
justin hammer had managed to get his hands on a type of out-of-this-planet weapon that tony was also trying to retrieve, and he had big plans with it. hence why the avengers had to come where hammer had wrecked havoc in; sofia, bulgaria. he had upgraded his robots with the tech used for the stolen weapon.
with evil robots attacking the whole city, it felt like you were living the story that wanda told you of what happened in sokovia before you met the avengers.
an hour passed before all of the robots had finally been taken down and you all knew you had to get to hammer before he activates more robots to distract you guys and uses the weapon for bad things.
"tony, have you located hammer?" steve's voice sounded in your ear through the comms. you had just finished healing the nasty gash on clint's side, nat's cut on her forehead and the bruises all over bucky. you were feeling significantly weaker now, from the amount of healing you did. you stumbled slightly when you walked and bucky immediately held onto your arm. "doll, are you okay?"
"i'm fine, buck. nothing i haven't dealt with before," you told him, gently removing his grip on your arm, walking back to the quinjet.
-
"no, absolutely not. we are not sending y/n right into a death trap. she's not even strong enough right now, she just finished healing us."
you were all back at the compound now and planning a second attack on justin hammer.
"it's not a death trap, buck. and i know you're worried but she's the only choice we got. y/n, all you gotta do is sneak in as one of his henchmen and provide entrance for us. once we get in, we'll take all his guards down and get that weapon from hammer and we won't have to worry about his world domination plans anymore. it'll be over as soon as it starts and she'll be back safe with us. sound good, y/n/n?"
"yeah, sure." you agreed, already having a person in mind that you were going to change yourself to.
-
the plan had gone just as steve wanted and they managed to raid justin hammer's building, tony stealing the very item that could've aided in the massacre of millions. justin and his henchmen managed to escape the building before the avengers could catch them.
"well, that was anticlimactic," tony scoffs, already making his way to the quinjet. "but good job, y/n. you saved the day once again."
he expected to hear a laugh from you, like you usually did, being the only one who ever responds to him after missions. but instead he was met with silence. "kid?" still no answer.
"y/n, where are you?" steve panicked, finally realising that you were the only one who hasn't responded in a hot minute. "y/n/n, this isn't funny." he breathed out.
"she's...she's gone."
-
"well, well, well," a voice spoke right as you woke up from your slumber. you squinted, noticing that you were in some sort of dark room with only one light bulb right above you. "what do we have here?"
a figure walks right in the light and you could barely make out justin hammer's ugly face with how dizzy you felt. "if it isn't the little freak." he states condescendingly, smirking down at your helpless position, both wrists and ankles cuffed onto the metal chair you were sat on. you struggled against the restraints, trying to get free but to no avail.
your breathing quickened, your current vulnerable state reminding you of your later years in HYDRA. they had started off experimenting on you on a metal gurney but as you grew older, you realised that what they were doing to you was bad so you started fighting back. that ended you up on a metal restraint chair instead of the gurney, strapped to the chair with cuffs on your wrists and ankles.
this felt like deja vu. the same panic you felt, the same breathing difficulties, the same amount of effort put into trying to get out of the restraints. "you should know, princess, that that doesn't work." hammer chuckled, a fake pout on his lips as he crouched in front of you, a rough hand on your cheek. you instinctively jerked away from his touch, to which he paid no mind to because he had expected that. he then grabbed your chin harshly, turning your head up towards him. you glared at him.
"you think i didn't know what you did? snuck in as one of my men using your freaky powers? not to mention useless. imagine having powers but not being able to use them to even escape from mere humans," he laughs in your face, harshly letting go of your chin, throwing your head backwards. "you tell me where stark planned to bring the weapon and i'll let you pretty little thing go."
"no."
before you could even comprehend, his fist came flying at your face and your head dropped to the side at the impact. your left cheekbone was throbbing and you could already tell you were gonna have a black eye. despite the pain, it wasn't something you weren't used to. you were an avenger, after all. getting decked in the face was practically in the contract.
he grabbed your chin once again, pulling your head upwards to face him. "you're gonna tell me where it is or i'm gonna make you regret it."
you looked up at him with a bored look. he punched you again. and again. and again. until you could taste the blood on your tongue. "think you wanna tell me now, sweetheart?"
"never. not to someone like you."
the man seemed to get a kick out of beating you up because he punched you again in the face. your whole face was pretty much numb now and the metallic taste in your mouth intensified. you smirked at the man before you, chuckling darkly.
"sure, beat up the helpless girl. that's the only way you can beat me, right? when i'm all tied up? what a man,"
his hand was around your throat within a second and he forced you to look him in the eyes again. "sweetheart, you're a girl. tied or not, you're still weak. not even with that useless power of yours."
taking advantage of how close his face was to yours, you gathered as much bloody saliva in your mouth before spitting it in his face.
it was very much the wrong thing to do because after he wiped off his face, he left the room and two men came in, various tools in hand for their fun with you.
-
"stark! my buddy! how's it going?" justin hammer's face appeared on the screen in the conference room, where the avengers were having a meeting about your possible whereabouts.
"where is she?!" wanda growled, standing up abruptly.
"what ever do you mean?" hammer smirked, feigning innocence. "you know what we mean. where is she?" steve spoke authoritatively, trying to control his anger at the sight of the man's face.
"i'll tell you where your thing is if you tell me where my thing is." he smiled wickedly. this caused wanda to get angrier. "y/n is not a thing! and the weapon was never yours in the first place!" vision held onto her to calm her down and it worked because she sat back down, though still glaring at the screen.
"oh she's not a thing? seems like it to me, though." he smirked and the team frowned, not understanding what he meant until they heard screams and justin's smirk widening at the sound. what a sick bastard. "what are you doing to her?!" bucky screamed, knocking his chair back as he stood up.
"i don't know, you tell me." he chuckles, and the screen changes to the live footage of you in the restraint chair with the two men in the room.
you were no longer fighting back now, just sat limply with your head dropped to the side. the first hour with them, you had been fighting back like you did with justin, despite the restraints, but now entering the second hour, you were too exhausted for anything.
your left eye had been swollen shut, you could barely breathe through your nose, your cheeks were throbbing like hell and your bottom lip was busted. your head was the only thing that moved freely when hit so the men seemed to find satisfaction the most when they punched you in the face. though that didn't stop them from inflicting pain on other parts of you.
"let her go, she's just a kid!" sam exclaimed, his grip on the edge of the table tightening to control his anger. peter and wanda were crying looking at the awful state you were in, clint, tony and bruce were silent in shock, steve and bucky were getting increasingly angry as the abuse continued.
"are you going to tell us where stark is keeping the weapon or have you not gotten enough?" one of the two men was heard asking, pulling your hair back to make you look up at him. you look at with your half-opened right eye, breathing heavily. "my answer's never gonna change no matter how many times you ask."
he scoffs, stepping back before the other man swings a bat right at your stomach. the air was immediately knocked out of your lung. the men laughed as you coughed up blood profusely. this caused wanda to get more hysterical.
"well, looks like she wants more. i'll call back when she's had enough. toodles," he waves his fingers at the camera with a sinister smirk before abruptly ending the call.
the room went silent after the call, save for bucky and sam breathing heavily from the anger they felt. bucky then turned to steve, pain could be seen on his face. "you said she would be safe."
"i–i'm sorry, buck. i didn't know he was gonna take her with him." steve was still frozen in shock, the image of you on the chair now permanently ingrained in his brain. in everyone's brains actually.
"guys, gear up, he's in colorado."
all heads turned towards natasha and she looked back at them with a 'what?' expression. "you were tracking him down the whole time?"
"um, duh? now come on, gotta save our girl."
-
you awoke to a stinging sensation on your inner forearm. after your bloody coughing fit, they proceeded to beat you up again and you were knocked out then. now you were slowly regaining consciousness but you were starting to prefer being passed out. your whole body was in pain and the fact that you couldn't even move made it even worse.
"oh, lookie here. sleeping beauty is up." you were met once again with justin hammer's ugly face. he was sitting on a chair perpendicular to your left side. you couldn't wait to get out of here so you didn't have to keep seeing his face every time you woke up. your inner forearm was stinging even more now so you looked down at it. you gasped at the sight.
"how'd you like my artwork?" he chuckled at your reaction. there on your arm, obviously carved out with the bloody knife that the asshole was so proudly holding on to, was 'FREAK'. carved out big and bold. on your skin. "pretty fitting, eh? freak? because, you know, that's what you are."
the blood was seeping out through the cuts and it stung even more now that it had been exposed to the air. the asshole moved his chair to your other side. "what should i write on this arm?" he feigns a thinking expression, looking up thoughtfully with his thumb and pointer finger on his chin.
"please, i–i don't know where tony put it. i really don't." you cried, tears now flowing freely down your face without a shame.
he looks at you with amusement. "what is this? are you...are you giving up already? can't take anymore?" he smirks and you sigh, closing your eyes. you just awoke but you were exhausted. so, so exhausted.
he takes out his phone, the smirk now permanent on his ugly face. "stark! kid's finally had enough. wanna tell me where the weapon is now or do you want to find her body at the bottom of the ocean?"
you couldn't even be bothered to react to his statement. the pain all finally registered and you were tired. tired and in excruciating pain.
"kinda busy right now, can you call back later?" you could hear tony's voice sound from justin's phone and the man beside you laughed. "i see you don't care for the girl. what could possibly be more important than saving her?"
"i don't know, you tell me." a voice said from behind you two and before you knew it, hammer was knocked off the chair he was on. you weakly turned your head just in time to see a metal arm force hammer up onto his feet before wrapping around his neck. "don't you fucking touch her again."
"y/n!" you heard wanda's voice as she entered the room with peter. more tears flowed down your face at the sight of them, stinging when they rolled past the cuts on your face but that didn't matter. your family was finally here to save you.
you saw the red mist of wanda's powers surround your cuffs before they clicked open. "oh, bubs, i'm so sorry." she cried, both hands hovering around your face, hesitating to touch you in fear of hurting you. her eyes fell onto the words carved out onto your skin and her mouth fell open before covering it with her hand. "i'm so sorry we couldn't get to you sooner." peter's voice cracked and you could tell he was emotional.
"it's okay," you told them, giving them a small smile, the biggest one you could give in your current state.
tony, sam and steve entered the room to see bucky relentlessly beating up your captor and wanda and peter standing by you as you cried.
"cupcake, we're here now. don't cry, you're safe now." tony came closer and despite knowing that you were because your family was finally here, you couldn't help but let out all the pent up emotions you've kept throughout your time of captivity.
sam had a go at justin once bucky was done and steve had to physically pry them both off of the sick bastard so that nat could cuff him and bring him back to the jet.
"y/n/n, i'm so sorry. if i hadn't–"
"it's okay, stevie." you cut him off. truthfully, you only did so because you knew he was going to giving a long-winded explanation justifying his actions and your headache couldn't bear to hear lengthy sentences. but you also didn't think it was in any way his fault so he didn't deserve to be beating himself up for this. shit happens, anyway.
"let's get you out of here, doll." bucky says, cringing when he sees the blood on the floor of your chair, as well as on your clothes. he quickly reaches to lift you off the chair but stops when you let out an ear-piercing scream of pain. "doll, i'm so sorry! did i hurt you?!" bucky questions in panic.
"y–you didn't, they did. it...it hurts everywhere," you cried, feeling hopeless that you couldn't even bear being carried by someone, let alone get up by yourself. their hearts broke when you said that. you never really cried much in front of them and you were known to withstand pain well because of how much shit HYDRA put you in as well as your powers being healing, meaning you had a higher pain tolerance than most people.
"it's okay, bubs. i got you. let's get you home, alright?" wanda's calming voice broke you out of your breakdown and red mist surrounded your whole body, wanda moving you with her powers. you were thankful of that because it didn't cause any more pain to your body.
maybe hammer was right. maybe you are just a freak with useless powers. wanda floated you into the jet and she set you down on the bed. "y/n, oh my god!" clint cried out once he sees you. you looked much worse than you did on hammer's camera footage during the call an hour ago. "kid, i'm so sorry."
"clint, take the wheel. bruce doesn't have all the resources needed. she needs to be treated ASAP." nat tells her best friend and he nods, taking the wheel and immediately taking off once everyone had boarded.
you were laid on the bed, right eye slightly open as bruce examined you. exhaustion hit you like a truck and before you knew it, you blacked out.
-
"how is she, doc?"
"pretty banged up but y/n, as i already knew, is a strong girl. lots of internal bleeding, broken bones, bruises and scars but she'll be fine. you can check her file later if you want," doctor cho tells tony outside of your room. "it's fine, can we see her?" he asks on behalf of the whole team standing behind him.
"yeah, of course! she woke up five minutes ago. i'll be off now, call me or my team if you need anything." she bids goodbye and left the group of superheroes.
steve slowly opens the door and there you were in bed, staring up at the ceiling. "hey, y/n/n," he greets sheepishly, feeling as though he had interrupted your alone time of blankly staring at the ceiling. the team trailed in behind him and soon your bed was surrounded by the avengers.
"hi, cupcake."
you looked away from the ceiling and turned your head towards tony. "oh, hey tones." you smile as sam helps you sit up while the rest sat on chairs all around you. "how you feeling, bub?" nat asks, eyes flickering down to the bold scarring of letters on your forearm.
"as okay as i can be." you answered truthfully, pressing your inner forearm closer to your body so the team doesn't see the letters carved onto your skin. you already know what you are, you didn't need the rest thinking so too.
"you're not a freak, bubs."
you look up at wanda. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to read your mind. but they were awfully loud. you're not a freak, y/n. and you're not useless too. that bastard may have carved out that word onto your skin but the scar will fade. it's not permanent. you know why? because that's not what you are." she tells you, taking off her jacket to wrap it around you because you felt self conscious of the scars all over your arms where the team could see.
"yeah, doll. you're an amazing person and your powers help us so much. i mean, you saved millions just helping us get the weapon back from justin hammer. if you hadn't, well, who knows what could've been happening right now?" he places a gentle hand at the side of your head, stroking your hair.
"yeah and who heals us when we get really hurt during missions, huh? i mean, if you hadn't healed that stab wound i got during that mission in new mexico, i probably wouldn't even be here at this moment." clint tells you and you roll your eyes at him. "you're exaggerating."
"i am not!" he laughed and you playfully rolled your eyes once again.
"y/n/n, i'm really sorry for—"
"i don't wanna hear it, stevie."
"but–"
"no. it's not your fault. shit happens." you brush him off. "lang–"
"you say language to me, i'll blame this shit on you even when it's not your fault. try me, rogers." you glare at the blond super soldier. he raises his arms in surrender, leaning back on his chair as the team laughs.
the team continue to entertain you and you couldn't help but smile at the sight in front of you. these were the people who would drop anything for you and were willing to dropkick any asshole in the face for hurting you. justin hammer never had a chance against your family to begin with.
________
“Hi Jensen,” you asked Monday night when your phone rang. “How was your flight earlier?”
“Same old same old. I just got out of work,” he said with a yawn. “Gonna grab a bite out with a friend. Kids eat dinner okay?”
“We had honey sriracha glazed salmon with brussel sprouts and roasted red potatoes.”
“Really?”
“They had kraft mac and cheese and I had Taco Bell.”
“See this is why I like you,” he chuckled.
“I’ll try the salmon again tomorrow. I was gonna make it but they didn’t have any at the store,” you said, opening the fridge and taking out a pint of ice cream. “Hey can I have what’s left of this mint ice cream?”
“Sure. Pick some more up for me sometime before friday please,” he said. “Also, Taco Bell? You do realize we live in freaking Austin right. There are literally hundreds of places you can go that have better mexican food.”
“Yeah but fake cheese tastes good,” you said. He laughed and your stomach rumbled. “I so should have gotten more than two tacos.”
“You in the kitchen?” he asked. You hummed and you heard him let out an oof in the background.
“Yeah. You alright?”
“This bed in my hotel room is comfy,” he said. “But I was starting to say, go in the drawer at the end of the counter by the table. There’s only five hundred gajillion take out menus in there. Order a treat for yourself. It’s on me.”
“Jensen. I can get my own dinner.”
“True but you’re on call 24/7 until I get back.”
“Well in that case I bet you got a menu for a fancy steakhouse in here somewhere,” you teased as you picked up one for a tex mex looking restaurant. “Does this place really have quesadillas this big?”
“You must be looking at the menu on top. I almost ordered from there last week actually. The food’s great. They do delivery too. Just buzz the guy into the gate when they get there.”
“Any recommendations?” you asked, taking out the menu and flipping it over.
“Quesadillas are good. Loaded nachos are amazing. I’ve literally never had a bad thing from there,” he said. “To be honest I’d rather be getting that than where I’m going tonight.”
“Why’s that?” you asked, reading through your options, surprised to find such good prices.
“I have to wear a suit,” he said with a sigh. “After being poked and prodded all day I literally would rather just eat crap and watch food network.”
“How long have you known this friend of yours?” you asked.
“Twenty years, why?”
“Then you guys knew each other when you were young. It’s not too late out there. Call him, see if he’d rather get some crap food, a six pack and just catch up on his couch or in your room. I’m pretty sure he’s more looking forward to seeing an old friend again than the food,” you said.
“You make very good points. I should pay you more,” he said.
“You pay me plenty and barely let me spend a dime of my money on myself,” you said. “I don’t need more.”
“You got that fancy computer though.”
“You literally have the exact same mac in your office.”
“You moved in like three boxes and two computers,” he said.
“An ipad is not a computer,” you said.
“Debatable.”
“Well I like to draw sometimes and it’s easier on an ipad when you’re laying in bed,” you said.
“Are you any good?” he asked.
“No.”
“I bet they’re really good,” he said as you rolled your eyes. “I see you draw with the kids sometimes and those are good.”
“It’s a hobby is all,” you said, leaning back against the counter, your stomach grumbling again. “Anything else you want me to grab at the store? I’m going to hit it tomorrow while everyone’s at school.”
“Nah. Get the usual stuff,” he said. “The kiddos in bed?”
“Yeah, got the last one down about fifteen minutes ago,” you said. He hummed and you heard the sigh in it. “I got a video of them playing earlier I’ll send you.”
“Thanks. It’s my first night away from them in a long time. Normally I’m able to come back same day. I was kinda hoping they’d still be awake to say goodnight.”
“They’re safe and sound dad. We’ll call again after school tomorrow to talk like today,” you said.
“Yeah,” he breathed out. He was quiet and you pulled the phone away, taking a deep breath.
“You okay?”
“I haven’t been alone like this in a really long time.”
“I know. You check out your backpack yet?”
“No. Why?”
“You didn’t bring a jacket with you so I put that yellow hoodie that’s always on the hook in there in case you got cold.”
“That was Dee’s hoodie.”
“I was pretty sure it was,” you said. You heard him shuffle around briefly before he hummed, much happier that time. “I thought you might like to have a piece of...something-”
“I really don’t pay you enough,” he said quietly. “Thanks for putting this in there. I need something from home more than I realized.”
“Well put it on, call up your buddy and have some fun tonight, Ackles. Nanny’s orders.” He laughed and you felt that twinge in your stomach again, your eyes quickly closing.
“I will. Hey you mind if I call again tomorrow night? I don’t have any plans and sitting in a hotel room by myself isn’t very fun.” You smiled and felt heat in your cheeks, quickly thinking it away. He wanted company for a few minutes was all and you were friends. It was completely normal to talk with friends on the phone everyday.
“Of course. As long as you get a dinner in at some point that’s more than fine with me,” you said. “We can talk about The Bachelor!”
“Oh God no,” he groaned, chuckling after a few seconds. “I’ll settle for Grey’s Anatomy.”
“This Is Us?” you asked.
“Supernatural?”
“I haven’t watched that yet. I’m working up to it,” you said.
“Work faster woman. I only know legit everything about that one,” he chuckled. “But probably not a good idea to watch that one until I get back and you're not alone. First episode is kinda scary.”
“Oh well thanks for that,” you said, watching the clock tick by, knowing it had to be almost seven out there. “I’ll let you go. Have fun tonight Jensen.”
“I will Y/N. Promise.”
Friday Night
“Arrow,” you said after she’d flung her pasta bowl all over herself, covering her hair and face. She sniffled and you forced a smile. “Okay. How about a bath after dinner?”
Fifteen minutes later JJ and Zeppelin were in the movie room watching a cartoon while you had Arrow in the kids bathroom, scooping up some water over her head in the tub.
“Well hello ladies,” you heard behind you. You jumped and spun around, glaring for a moment before you recognized Jensen.
“Just me,” he said, backpack still on his shoulders.
“Daddy I got ziti all over my head,” she said.
“You did?” he asked, dropping his bag and taking off his jacket, kneeling down next to you. You got the last bit of sauce off and squirted some shampoo in her hair, Jensen watching you with a smile. “How was your day?”
She told him all about breakfast and daycare, playing with a few toy boats with him while you rinsed out the soap. You did a bit of conditioner before getting it out as well and putting the spray nozzle back.
“I got the rest if you wanna get the dryer ready?” he asked you, reaching for the soap. You swapped spots with him, Jensen washing her up while she kept talking about her day. By the time he was all done you had the dryer out and plugged in, Jensen picking her up and wrapping her up in a big bundle of towels before he set her on the counter. You went to work drying her hair, Jensen draining the tub and finding some pajamas for her.
“Do you want your hair up or down, sweetie?” you asked. She tried gathering it up and you grabbed her soft scrunchie perfectly fine for sleeping in from the counter. You put her hair up in a soft little bun, Jensen making an adorable sound when he returned.
“Aw, you look so cute, baby. I’ll be right there alright?” he said. She hopped off the counter and got dressed, rushing off downstairs when she was all done. “Survive the day?”
“Somehow we always do,” you said, gathering up the towels. “Kids are in the movie room.”
“Thanks. I’m gonna shower but we’re all good for the night,” he said. “Thanks for watching them this week.”
“You gotta go do your job,” you said. “You working on a movie or something? You never said.”
“Uh gonna be in a show called The Boys,” he said. “I’m gonna be one of the superheroes so I gotta go out and get my suit made all special for me every so often.”
“You’re gonna be a supe! That’s so fucking cool!” you said. He grinned and you blushed, shaking your head. “I’m so sorry. That was so not appropriate.”
“I don’t see any little ears around,” he chuckled. “You like the show then?”
“Yeah. It’s great. Like no other show consistently makes me go what the fuck did I just see. That’s so cool you get to be a supe though. Are you a one off or like a main character?”
“I’ll be very present in the next season. Gonna deal with the seven, all that,” he said. “I’m gonna be Solider Boy.”
“I can see that. You have that all American boy thing about you.”
“It’s my adorable face,” he teased.
“Well remember to not stay up too late. You have the gala tomorrow night remember?”
“Yes mom,” he said as you walked out. “Get the kids some takeout for dinner tomorrow and yourself.”
“Sounds good boss,” you said. “Night Jensen.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
The Next Night
You froze from where you were mixing up some brownie batter with JJ at the kitchen counter as Jensen popped downstairs. He was in a gorgeous black suit, a maroon pocket square and no tie going on, his hair scruffier looking than normal.
He started to laugh and you realized you were staring, your cheeks feeling hot as you went back to stirring.
“Mmm, you guys save me a brownie or two for when I get home?” he asked, leaning over and dipping his finger in the bowl of cream cheese frosting.
“We’ll spare one for dad,” you said, Jensen going back for seconds. “Ah, ah. No.”
He dipped his finger in and got another fingerful, kissing the top of JJ’s head and the twins at the counter.
“Be good for Y/N guys!” he called as he rushed out.
You whistled and he jogged back, catching you holding up his phone from the counter.
“Thank you,” he said, taking it and pecking a kiss on your cheek. You looked up at him and he froze. “I am so sorry. I…”
“It’s okay. Go have fun and be all charitable,” you said. He shoved his phone in his pocket and ran out, JJ scratching her head.
“Dad’s kinda weird sometimes,” she said.
“Yeah, he is. But so is everybody,” you said. “Let’s get this in the oven so you guys can pick out colors for your frosting, hm?”
“I really shouldn’t. But I really should,” you said to yourself, plopping your second brownie of the night in a bowl and sticking a scoop of ice cream on top. You carried it over to the couch and lay back, watching TV on the big screen as you heard the door open. Jensen came into view a minute later, taking his jacket off and groaning as he washed up at the sink. He went to the tray of brownies on the counter and picked one up with a big sigh. “Fun night?”
He jumped and whacked his head against the cabinet above, hissing before he spun around.
“You okay?” you asked. He nodded and left the brownie behind, pushing his sleeves up before taking a seat on the other end of the lounger.
“Y/N I’m really sorry about the kiss on the cheek. That was so inappropriate. You’ve kinda implied that there was some stuff that’s happened to you at other jobs you found over the line and I’m really truly sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I wasn’t...I forgot you’re my employee for a moment. I really am sorry.”
“Jensen if I had a problem with it or you or your behavior I would quit on the spot. I don’t let myself get pushed around anymore. You were happy and busy and you pecked a kiss on my cheek, not reach a hand down my pants. It’s really okay. You’re way too hard on yourself.”
“Are you sure?” he asked.
“Positive. It’s barely ten which means you left as soon as you could. You’re supposed to be out having fun,” you said.
“I was kinda freaking out that you hated me,” he said.
“Dude you gotta relax,” you said. “Have a brownie and some ice cream.”
He got up and after a minute took a seat at the other end with a bowl of his own, smiling as he got a taste.
“This is fucking awesome,” he said.
“I know,” you said, Jensen smirking. “Do you feel better now silly boy? I promise that if you ever do anything I find inappropriate I will promptly kick you in the balls.”
“I can agree to that,” he said. He ate for a moment, watching the TV and laying back. “Do you ever like, want to go do things with your friends on a Saturday night? If you do that’s totally cool. These aren’t normal hours anyways.”
“Being a nanny eats up a lot of your social life,” you said. “Kinda got kicked out of my friend group after I broke up with my ex anyways.”
“Well they sound like they suck,” he said.
“Yes, they do,” you said. “I don’t mind so much. I meet plenty of new people through work. Only person you can depend on is yourself and I don’t tend to let myself down.”
“That’s a very lonely way to go through life,” he said.
“It’s not easy to make friends in your thirties,” you said. “Maybe for someone like you who travels and meets new people a lot and stuff but you have like, real friendships. You know?”
“Well we have a real friendship, don’t we? You’re friends with Jared and Rob and Ruthie and Rich,” he said. “I don’t trust just anybody with my kids. That’s real.”
“Yeah,” you said, taking a bite. “So when’s your friend free?”
“Hm?”
“Blind date guy. Maybe he could be a friend if things work out,” you said.
“Oh yeah. He uh, he actually got a gig up in Canada so you might need to wait like a month or so. But he’s excited to meet you,” said Jensen.
“Can I have his number?” you asked. “Or do you think that’d be weird?”
“No, not weird. I think he just kinda wants to do it old school if that’s okay. Meet you first and go from there.”
“This friend of yours better be like super hot,” you said.
“If it’s a problem-“
“I can respect him wanting to do things like that. But I’m gonna want a firm date soon,” you said.
“I’ll make sure to get you one,” he said. “I’ll get it down tomorrow, promise.”
“He better not mind me eating like this either. I ain’t a salad on the first date kinda girl. He’s gonna need to keep up with my eating while were at it,” you said. He snorted in his seat beside you and ran his hand over his face.
“I will keep that in mind. I have occasionally had dessert first truth be told,” he said.
“This is why I like you Ackles. You get my sweet tooth,” you laughed.
“It’s a good thing your dinners are healthy cause I swear I haven’t consumed this many baked goods in months,” he said. “The kids love it and my stomach loves it though.”
“I’m gonna need to start working out though if I keep this up. Oh hey is it okay if I do laps in the pool in the mornings? I’ll be super quiet and stuff.”
“You don’t gotta ask,” he smiled. “Like I said when you started, you got free reign to use the pool, the gym, whatever, aside from my room. You a swimmer?”
“Not really but I hate running and supposedly it’s a good workout or something,” you shrugged, eating another bite of brownie.
“Anything in the gym you’re free to use. I know you must get a little bored sometimes when I’m gone and the kids are,” he said.
“Not bored per say. Ordinarily I would do more chores but you have like a cleaner and a landscaper and you just...give me more time in the day than I’m used to is all. It’s actually great though. It gives me plenty of time to come up with ideas for the kids and stuff.”
“Well as long as you’re taking breaks and your lunch do as you please,” he said, his spoon scraping the bottom of his bowl.
“Now that’s just sad.”
“I really should get another one of these,” he said, sucking the spoon.
“It’s really the only choice you have,” you said. He laughed as he hopped up, skirting back into the kitchen and fixing up another brownie and ice cream combo.
“Hey you want more, Dee?” he asked. You popped your head up and he spun around. “I’m-“
“Don't apologize, Jensen,” you said. He tapped his fingers against the counter and took a deep breath, putting his back to you.
“That’s the second time tonight I’ve done that,” he said.
“Jensen. There’s nothing wrong with missing your wife.”
“I’m still sorry.”
“You don’t...talk about her much.”
“It was...she wasn’t…” he trailed off. He sat down on a barstool and you got up, walking over and hopping up on the counter beside him. You set your feet in the stool next to his and paused before you put a hand on top of his head and ran your fingers through the short strands. “This shouldn’t have happened to her.”
“Death is the price for living. Pain’s the price for caring. Doesn’t mean it’s not worth it,” you said. You started to move your hand away when he turned his head.
“Don’t…” he said, easing when you played with it gently again. “That’s always calmed me down since I was a little kid.”
“Someone should take care of you every once in a while you know. Your parents, siblings, friends. Everyone needs a break.”
“I had a lot of help at the beginning. I don’t need a whole day. Just a moment here and there,” he said quietly.
“It’ll be okay, Jensen,” you said. He nodded and you played with his hair a few moments, watching his shoulders ease. This time when you pulled away he smiled up at you. “Better?”
“Yeah. Thank you. That’s not in your job description to do that sort of thing.”
“Well I think your wife would want somebody to watch your back, even for only a minute or two,” you said.
“You don’t have any brain aneurysms I should know about, do you?” he chuckled.
“No. That what happened?” you asked, a single nod coming from him.
“She was sleeping. Not a bad way to go I was told, you’d never even know,” he said. “Not a fun thing to wake up to in the morning though.”
“My dad had a mass at the back of his head. It was that same kind of thing where one second it’s fine and the next everything’s different deal. It was inoperable. Then he goes and dies from a car accident of all things before it got bad. My mom had a hard time with that.”
“You said she had a boyfriend later on right?” he asked.
“Yeah. I know you’ll be okay, Jensen,” you said. You ruffled his hair and he smiled, a soft look on his face. “Pro tip too from someone who’s been there, kids with a single parent turn out just fine.”
“Do they ever wish they had another parent?” he asked.
“They wish the parent they still have around is happy again someday. They won’t understand until they’re older that it’s a different kind of love between parents. But they’ll know it’s a little different and they’ll hope dad feels better too. Your kids are tough. They’ll be okay too.”
“Thanks, Y/N,” he said. You hopped off the counter and washed up your dish, sticking it in the dishwasher before you went to leave for your room. “So I gotta ask. Who takes care of you?”
“Me?” you asked, pointing to yourself. He shrugged and smiled, your gaze going past him. “I’m all good. I don’t need somebody to take care of me.”
“Liar,” he said softly. “You know my friend tells me everybody needs to be taken care of sometimes.”
“That’s the difference between us Jensen. You’re not like me.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” he scoffed, his face scrunching up suddenly.
“It means you’re not on your own and even if you feel like it, it’s only been a little while. You’ll be okay. I’ve been taking care of myself since I was a kid. I don’t need anyone to take care of me.”
“That’s bullshit and you know it.”
“You haven’t lived my life and I haven’t lived yours. Don’t try to tell me that I’m not capable of-”
“It’s not about what you’re capable of. You said pain is part of life, it’s the price for living. You’ve had more than your fair share-”
“Lots of people have it a lot worse.”
“Don’t compare your pain to someone else's. They haven’t lived your life,” he said. You rolled your eyes and started to walk away, Jensen out of his seat and catching up with you in the hall. “You can be taken care of too you know.”
“By who? My non-existent circle of friends? My crappy ex? My mom’s ex boyfriend who’s got his own wife and kids? I am perfectly fine managing all of this by myself. I’ve been doing it for years.”
“You’re so frustratingly annoying,” he said, running his hand over his face. “Me. I’m talking about me. You just...you took care of me tonight. The least I can do is show you the same compassion.”
“No,” you said.
“No? Why not?”
“Because taking care of me turns into you walking into my shower without my permission and you being a dick and this going away and I don’t want you to be those things so no. We’re getting too friendly. Please leave me alone tomorrow.”
You left him in the hall and went down to your area of the house, shutting the door after you. There was quickly a knock and you growled, ripping it open.
“What?” you snapped at him.
“I am not going to hurt you or be a dick to you or whatever else you think. You need to realize in the real world, not everyone is an asshole.”
“You’re the one not living in the real world then, Jensen. Everybody’s an asshole.”
“Fine. I’m an asshole. But I’m not leaving until you say I can take care of you tomorrow. Two minutes is all I’m asking for.”
“This is my part of the house.”
“And technically I am outside your door,” he said. “Why are you so resistant to somebody doing something nice for you?”
“Because I don’t wanna get used to it,” you said. He stared and you shook your head. “You’re attractive and an actor and kind and funny and it’s not a matter of if you date again but when and when that day comes, we ain’t gonna be sitting on the couch eating ice cream anymore. Please do not invite me to anymore outings as a friend. I’ll attend if required as a nanny but this between us is done.”
“For the record, the only one around here that thinks of you as just the hired help is you. My children are completely like their old selves. I feel more like my old self. You seem happier than when I met you but for some reason, that’s a big problem to you. I do not understand that.”
“Leave or I resign and move out first thing,” you said. He crossed his arms and lifted his chin. “This is my formal resignation then. The company will-”
He moved quickly and you weren’t sure what he was doing at first but soon you realized he was hugging you, your hands resting against his chest. You swallowed and he didn’t move, your forehead resting against him.
“What are you doing?” you breathed out.
“When’s the last time you got a fucking hug?” he asked.
“The kids-”
“Not the kids.”
“I don’t remember,” you said quietly.
“Then you are overdue,” he said. You let yourself reach your arms around him and return the hug, breathing deeply, a small bubble in you rising up. You tried to push it down but it came back harder and you were fighting back tears before you knew it.
He could feel when you lost that battle, hand rubbing up and down your back. There was a soft shushing in the air and after a few minutes you felt better. You lifted your head but didn’t look at him, Jensen squeezing you in his hug again before it eased.
“You know you’re not allowed to quit on me...like ever,” he chuckled. You let out a small laugh, Jensen smiling at you when you forced your head up. He wiped off your cheeks and you let out one last sniffle. “You’re not alone. I promise you’re not. It’s not the quantity of people you have in your life but the quality and I’m sorry but we are friends and there’s nothing you can do about that so I’d just accept it now.”
“I’m sorry I was such a bitch.”
“You were scared, not a bitch,” he said. “I wish I could make you happier is all.”
“I wish I could bring back your wife for you,” you said.
“One of those is a lot more possible than the other,” he said. A small smile crossed his lips before he ducked his head down, shoulders heaving back before his head raised. “Y/N, can I confess something to you? I hope...I hope it doesn’t bother you but if it does, you don’t have to continue working for me. I’d still like to be friends regardless.”
“What’s wrong?” you asked, Jensen looking past you.
“My single friend I was going to set you up with? He doesn’t exist.”
“Oh.”
“Cause he’s kinda me.”
“Oh,” you said, staring at him, a lot of his previous behavior starting to click into place. “That’s…”
“I know,” he said, stepping away and rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s weird and douchey and I’m sorry. I like you and I was trying to see if you would ever go for a 42 year old actor. I left out the widow and kids part but...I’m sorry.”
“When did you like me?” you asked quietly.
“The whole time?” he said, laughing nervously to himself. “It’s kinda snowballed since we met. I never in my life thought I’d like someone again. I didn’t want to like you. I hired you because you were the best candidate and I knew the kids would be in good hands but everyday it’s there, even more, and I know this is so inappropriate on so many levels and I’m really starting to ramble here but you make me think maybe your mom had a point and people are allowed to have...more than one…and sometimes the way you talk to me and treat me and look at me...”
He swallowed as you stepped in front of him, taking a quick breath.
“I will keep working for you and I’ll be your friend...and you can make me dinner tomorrow,” you said with a smile. “We’ll see where it goes from there?”
“You’re not...weirded out?” he asked.
“By your age, you’re my boss or the cheeky lying about a fake friend?” you said.
“All of the above.”
“Age doesn’t bother me. You have no idea how to be a boss, no offense, and the friend...I don’t blame you for wanting to test the waters first,” you said. “But I expect honesty from here on out.”
“Absolutely,” he said.
“Good,” you said.
“You do like me right?” he asked. “Like you don’t feel obligated or-”
“I like you Jensen. Why do you think I was trying to push you away before you got too close? I didn’t want to be hurt.”
“Give me a chance to not,” he said. “We can have dinner and see how it goes from there.”
“Normally the best course of action,” you said.
“But maybe with a few more hugs from now on,” he said. “For the both of us.”
“That’d be okay with me,” you said. He smiled and you returned it. “I guess I’ll see you in the morning then.”
“I guess you will,” he said. He turned to go when he spun back on his heels. “Or we could go back out there, eat way too much dessert and hang out?”
“Yeah,” you said with a smile. “Give me a minute to wash up my face.”
“Take all the time you want. I’m gonna change into something more comfortable anyways.”
He left and you washed off your face in the bathroom, drying it off and taking a deep breath.
You did like him. There was something calming about him to you and you enjoyed his company, even if it was just the two of you having a quiet cup of coffee in the morning.
But he was an actor. And kinda famous. And a widow. And had three kids.
“But your face is cute,” you said aloud, looking the mirror. “Gah, of course you have to be like...into me. Nutjob. He must be a nutjob. That’s it.”
“Y/N?” you heard him saying and you smacked yourself in the face. “Are you talking to yourself?”
“Uh, yeah,” you said, stepping out and seeing him in the hall sporting a pair of pajama pants and a t shirt. “That was fast.”
“Well I didn’t go through an eight step skin routine too,” he chuckled.
“For your information, my routine is only three steps,” you said, walking past him and waggling your fingers.
“I didn’t realize I was living with such a savage,” he said. You laughed and went back to the kitchen, making up another dish of brownie for him while he went over to where he kept his liquor. “You a bourbon kind of girl?”
“Is there any other kind?” you said.
“Touche.” He poured out two glasses and slid one over while you passed his bowl to him. “So what’s this three step routine? Do I need to up my game or what?”
“I think I need your routine, not the other way around,” you said.
“Nah. I like looking at your face more than mine. Trust me.”
“Oh. How long you been holding back those kinds of comments?” you teased.
“Longer than you’d think,” he said, sharing the bowl with you. “Feel okay now?”
“Yeah. I can’t remember the last time I cried,” you said. “Especially in front of someone.”
“A good cry session has never hurt in my experience. I’ll do it for work and stuff but normally I’m not much of one. Aside from the past six months I mean.”
“Are you ready to try this?” you asked.
“Yeah. I know I am,” he said. “I’m positive of it.”
“How can you know that?”
“Because you make me happy. You make me...want to do stuff again, believe in all the romantic...if I wasn’t ready, I’d feel guilty. But I don’t. I just know that maybe some people get more than one chance and maybe I’m one of them.”
“I know you are, whoever it ends up being,” you said.
“Are you ready to try this?”
You took a drink and bite of ice cream, pushing the bowl back.
“I miss my family,” you said. “I miss being happy. I’d like to...have someone that could take care of me for a moment every once in a while. I might mess that up sometimes but I’m willing to try.”
“Me too,” he said. “I’d expect some screw ups on this end too. I’ve been out of the dating game for a long time.”
“I’m sure it hasn’t changed all that much,” you said.
“Well I’ve never dated with kids and as a widow,” he said.
“I’m just in this for them to be honest,” you laughed.
“I see how it is,” he said with a smirk.
“I don’t think it’ll be as hard as you think,” you said.
“I hope not,” he said.
“Do they know? You want to date?”
“JJ does,” he said. “She’s little but she understands that it doesn’t mean I’ll never love her mother any less. She’s been strangely okay through this whole thing aside from the first few weeks. She helps her brother and sister out more now.”
“As someone who was that kid, minus the siblings, I know they’ll be okay. She’s a great kid. I’ve met plenty of spoiled brats. Yours are not.”
“Well that might just be the second best thing I’ve heard tonight,” he said.
“Whatever was the first?” you teased, eating a spoon of ice cream.
“Oh I think you know,” he said, stealing the spoon back. You smiled and heard some feet run around upstairs before the stairs creeped and a little head ducked down into view. “Arrow. It’s bedtime sweetie.”
“I had a accident,” she said. “Sorry.”
“Nothing to be sorry for, honey,” he said. “I’ll be right back.”
“Want help?” you asked.
“Sure,” he said. He scooped up Arrow on the way up the stairs, setting her down in the kids bathroom. He got some clean pajamas and you found a pair of pull ups, Arrow pouting at you.
“I don’t need ‘em,” she said.
“Your brother wears them. I wore them and your mommy and daddy wore them. Everybody wears pull ups when they’re your age,” you said.
“Just tonight,” she said, stepping into them. Jensen walked past with the mattress liner and she was dressed by the time you heard the washer going off in the distance. You walked her back to bed, Jensen slipping in past you and tucking her in. “Night daddy.”
“Night sweetie,” he said, kissing her temple.
“Night Y/N,” she said.
“Night night kiddo,” you said, giving her a tiny wave before you left, Jensen flipping off her light and pulling the door shut.
“Come here a second,” he said, nodding and you saw him head towards his room. The double doors were open and you stepped inside, Jensen going past the bed and over to a set of french doors. He pushed one open and waved for you to follow, showing you out to a rooftop balcony.
“Wow,” you said, a set of chairs, a table and a lounger out there along with a whole lot soft string lights. “I didn’t realize you had this up here.”
“Kinda a place to go unwind, relax,” he said. “I disappear out here sometimes. Been out here a lot at night lately.”
“Thinking about what?” you asked.
“You,” he said. “I talk to Dee about you sometimes as crazy as that sounds.”
“Doesn’t sound crazy at all,” you said.
“I just wanted to say...this area isn’t off limits anymore. Nothing is,” he said.
“She asked you out, didn’t she,” you said with a smile. He rubbed the back of his neck and blushed. “You’re cute.”
You leaned up and kissed his cheek, heading back towards inside.
“Come on, Jensen. Before the ice cream melts on us.”
Y/N walks out of the metal doors, the sun closing her eyes to a squint. It’s been a while, she thought to herself. After being held captive by a terrorist group for almost five years, Y/N was rescued by Clint Barton. Since the blip, crime has been on the rise, which ultimately led to her kidnapping. The tricky thing about this group though, was that they knew magic, and held her in a room decorated with runes that rendered her powers useless. Clint destroyed the walls with an explosive arrow, freeing Y/N, allowing her to once again move objects around with her mind. However, one of the leaders got away and the thought of it nagged Y/N.
“What’chya gonna do now, kid?” Clint asked Y/N before departing. Y/N’s eyes adjusted to the light outside, something she hasn’t seen in years. She didn’t like how he called her a kid, she’s probably only five years younger than him. “Do you want a ride back to America? I’m taking a plane anyways.” Y/N picked up a handful of dirt from the ground, crushing it in her palm. It’s so smooth, kinda chalky and cool. “Kid, do you speak? I’m trying to help you out here.” Y/N let go of the dirt and patted her hands dry. Clint started walking away and like a lost puppy, Y/N followed.
Y/N boarded Clint’s plane and sat across from him. “You wanna tell me your story? Who you are, where your powers came from, how you got kidnapped?” Clint received no response, Y/N simply looked down at her lap. Damn I need a shower. “Well at least a thank you wouldn’t hurt.” Clint mumbled under his breath. Y/N looked up at Clint, his face scratched. She rose from her seat and pressed two fingers to his forehead. Clint grabbed her wrist. “Woah woah woah. You’re not using any magic on me.” Y/N moved her free hand to touch his forehead again, using her powers to heal his wounds. Thank you. Clint let go of Y/N’s wrist and stared at her in amazement. Y/N sat back down and looked out the window for the remainder of the flight.
——————
Y/N ended up back in New York, where she spent a few months by herself. She got a small part time job in an office, where they’re cool with her not talking. She spent her free time refining her powers, since she went so long without them she was a bit rusty. She remembers the fateful day where people started reappearing out of thin air. Looks like the blip is over.
Y/N was walking to work one day when a white van slowly followed her from behind. When she turned the corner, the car stopped and three men hopped out, chasing after her. Y/N flung two of the men back, falling on their asses and groaning on the concrete. Y/N started running down the street, causing a scene amongst the everyday people on their commutes. Y/N flung back the items that were thrown at her, the villain obviously capable of telekinesis.
When Y/N rounded the next corner, she met a cold dark alley. Shit. She turned around and moved a dumpster to block her like a shield. “You can’t hide from us forever, Y/N.” A soda can hit the dumpster with a clang. How does he know my name? “I can hear your thoughts. You don’t remember me?” Y/N peeked around the side of the dumpster to see who she was talking to, her torturer. Y/N felt a wave of nerves and trauma rush over her. A man with a gun stood in the background, but Y/N thought nothing of it so that he didn’t hear. “You know, we had some good times together.” The man chuckled as he threw a gardening tool through the dumpster. Y/N rolled her eyes as the tool almost pierced her face.
“We have a lot in common Y/N-“ the man was cut off by Y/N tossing the dumpster forward, knocking him to the ground. The man laughed and lunged the dumpster into the air, Y/N pushing it to the back of the alley. The man levitated Y/N towards him, his hand grasping her neck. “Look into my eyes. Look into them! You see-“ A gunshot fired from behind. The man tried moving it away, but Y/N moved it right back into the same direction. The bullet went straight through the man’s skull. His grip released on Y/N’s neck and she looked at the alley’s entrance. “Who are you?” The man who shot the gun asked. I could ask you the same. Ignoring his question, Y/N walked briskly out of the alley, hoping to avoid the police. “Hey wait up, you didn’t answer me. What was that back there?” The man followed Y/N from behind. She walked very fast so it was hard to keep up.
The man wouldn’t give up so when they passed a bookstore, Y/N flung open the door to hit the man in the face. He blocked the door with his arm, shattering the glass. Y/N turned around, puzzled. That wasn’t supposed to happen. He’s not a normal person. Y/N kept walking anyways, the man still following. Y/N detoured to a coffee shop. She decided she wasn’t going to show up for work today so she wouldn’t put her coworkers in the danger of any creeps. Y/N pointed to the menu for the barista to get her a coffee. She sat down and started reading from a book she had in her pocket. The man followed suit, taking a seat across from Y/N.
“I’m the Winter Soldier. You know the Avengers?” Y/N turned a page in her book. At this point, she’s just gonna wait him out, he’ll eventually get tired of hearing himself talk to a blank wall. The Winter Soldier paused and took a sip of his coffee. “I can’t tell, are you rude or shy?” Y/N smirked. “Rude it is. Listen, what you did back there, your powers. The Avengers need that.” He scribbles on a napkin. “Call us if you want to join. We have a mission on Friday we could use your help.” The Winter Soldier leaves and Y/N continues reading her book for a few hours, tossing the napkin in the trash on her way out.
——————
“Watch out on your right!” Falcon yelled to the Winter Soldier as he dodged a bullet. The pair was fighting a group of super soldiers in the street. To say the least, the two were struggling on their own and they had no backup. Y/N watched them from a under a lamppost a block away, her arms crossed. They call themselves Avengers? This should be easy for them. Y/N walked up the street and hid behind a small ledge. At the right moment, when the superheroes were prepared for defeat, Y/N moved a truck to crash into three of the soldiers. Everyone looked around, trying to find the source of the incident, but Y/N remained hidden. The Winter Soldier knew she must’ve been here though, which distracted him immensely. One of the super soldiers managed him into a chokehold. With their positioning, there was no way she could safely use her powers from a distance. She ran into the fight, pushing the super soldiers’ bullets back in the directions they came from. She flung the person off of the Winter Soldier and they hit a brick wall. “You came.” The Winter Soldier’s raspy voice spoke. He stared in wonder as Y/N kept moving objects around every which way to defeat the group of enemies. Falcon helped from above. Once things calmed down enough, Y/N reached out her hand to the Winter Soldier. He took her hand to help him stand up.
Y/N started walking away when the Winter Soldier grabbed her arm. “Not so fast.” Falcon landed. “So this is the badass chick you were telling me about. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Sam.” Y/N shook his outstretched hand and released herself from the Winter Soldier’s grasp. “And hey, I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t want to talk to this guy when I first see him either.” He smirked as the Winter Soldier yelled, “Hey!” from behind.
“Now what’s your name?” Sam asked. Y/N looked around, avoiding eye contact. “Okay that’s cool. Just let us know if you’re gonna join us more often. We could use your help.” Sam was about to walk away but Y/N stopped him by placing her hand on his arm. She walked closer to him and noticed a deep cut on his forehead. “Uhhh-“ Sam said awkwardly. Y/N placed two fingers on his forehead to heal the wound. Sam smiled. “Well thank you ma’am, now I don’t need to get stitches.” Y/N turned around to leave. “Hey, um, I’m hurt too!” The Winter Soldier called out and Y/N ignored him as she kept walking. “Ha! She doesn’t like you.” Sam laughed and the Winter Soldier rolled his eyes.
——————
Y/N kept a close eye on Falcon and the Winter Soldier, following them on a few missions, but they never needed her help. She took this traveling opportunity to sit in coffee shops and read books. All was fine until the Winter Soldier stumbled upon her one day.
“I thought I recognized you. What are you doing here?” Y/N didn’t look up from the page and the Winter Soldier sat next to her. “Are you following us? Anyways. I think we got off on the wrong foot. My real name is Bucky. It would be nice to know who you are.” Y/N continued reading. “I get it. You’re a tough egg to crack. Are you mute? I have a pen...” Bucky scrambled to pull a spare napkin from his pocket. He set the napkin and pen on the table. “You could write on this if you want.” All Bucky received was silence. “Look at me.” Y/N didn’t obey the command until the book was taken from her hands. “You know there’s another world going on around you, right?” Of course I know that dipshit. Y/N was slightly taken aback by the man’s sudden aggression. Bucky sighed as the two seconds of eye contact were insufficient.
“I’m sorry, I’m short tempered.” Y/N smiled to herself. She loves how people react to her not speaking. People feel like they have to overcompensate for the conversation and end up revealing things about themselves they might not otherwise. “If you’re following us you might as well stay with us. You’re not scared to fight and you have more power than Sam and I combined. And you won’t have to be alone. I know what that feels like.” Bucky looked down to his coffee, his finger tracing circles on the cup. He remembered the times when he did not have control over his mind and he did his horrible missions alone. Y/N took the pen and wrote down “fine.” Bucky smiled and handed Y/N her book back. “Finish your reading. I’ll take you back to our place when you’re done.” Bucky sat with a sense of accomplishment. He convinced her not only to write down on paper, but also to stay with him and Sam. At this rate, I could get her to talk in a year’s time, he joked to himself.
Y/N finished her reading early, figuring that she could continue when she goes back to the place Sam and Bucky are staying at. It was a dingy hotel, but still better than where she was staying at. The room only had two beds, something Bucky didn’t realize until they entered the room. “Hey! Welcome to the team!” Sam welcomed Y/N. Bucky excused himself to the restroom. Y/N nodded and looked around the room, ensuring there weren’t any traps. She admired the Falcon suit, which was propped up on display. “You like it? Tony Stark made it for me, when he was alive- rest in peace.” Sam looked up to the ceiling. Bucky exited the bathroom in a new change of clothes. Y/N glanced at his exposed metal arm. She swallowed a lump in her throat that formed when she realized how muscular he was up close. Sam made a mental note of this.
“Make yourself at home, Y/N. We’re ordering takeout if you want anything.” Sam handed her the menu to a pizzeria. Y/N’s eyes glossed over the menu and pointed to a salad. “Sure, one salad coming up. Buck what do you want?” Bucky shrugged and fumbled with some items in his backpack. “I’m not that hungry.” Sam shot him an admonishing look. “If you don’t eat now you’ll regret it in the morning. We’ve been through this before.”
Y/N stood up and entered the bathroom, not having the patience for the conversation. When she looked in the mirror she realized the sticky situation she was in. When she followed Sam and Bucky, she watched them fight. She understands their expert level of combat training. However, time and again Y/N would find herself drooling over Bucky, his defined muscles, his swift movements, his hair, his handsomeness. It was almost overwhelming. And now here she is, writing things down on paper for him, making eye subtle contact, and sharing a hotel room with him. What’s next, Y/N? Marriage? Control yourself.
Kate Bishop x GN!reader
Tumblr media
● Kate never realized her love language was acts of service
● mostly because none of her exes ever really went out of their way for her
● and then you came along
● you had known Kate for years because you worked at her moms company but never had the guts to ask her out
● but then you find out she's the new hawkeye when she asks you to basically be her own personal hacker and you finally start dating
● at first she's like "why do you do so many nice things for me without me asking??"
● "because I'm your partner and I want to??"
● then you find out about her lame exes and step up your game even more
● you want her to feel loved and appreciated like she deserves
● her coming home to find Lucky is walked and fed and happily asleep in bed tuckered out from you playing with him
● making her more arrows when you know she's running low
● you're getting better at making the explosive ones, you only accidently blow up maybe one out of twenty arrows now
● but Kate can't lie, she loves kissing your bumps and bruises better when she finds you frantically trying to hide the evidence of the arrows gone wrong
● "Hey babe how was your day? Mine was boring, nothing going on here right Lucky?"
● "Y/N I can see the cut on your arm come here and let me clean you up"
● you learn to sew so you can patch up the holes she gets in her suit during fights
● it also comes in handy when you need to give her stitches for her own wounds
● surprising her with suit upgrades you find ideas for online
● plus the ideas from your new larping friends cause you and Kate regularly hang out with them
● "come on babe let's go we're already late and it's our turn to bring dinner this week"
● "don't worry Kate we're only *looks at clock* an hour late… oops guess I got distracted by my computer again… put Lucky in one of his costumes they can never be mad when we bring Lucky dressed up"
● Kate was getting overly stressed out so you make secret plans with the other young avengers to not call on her for a week so you can take her on a relaxing getaway vacation
● she tried her best not to look at her phone but you catch her checking social media just to make sure there isn't another invasion on New York happening while you're gone
● "Kate my love, the others have agreed to call if there is a true emergency but this week is for us to relax"
● "I know I know but what if-"
● "nope, no what if's now put your phone away and lets go to the beach"
● when Kate finally stops thinking about being a superhero for a minute she has an amazing week with you
● and she couldn't be more grateful that you care for her in a way no one ever has before
Hi! So you said to request things so if you can, can you please write a Natasha x reader where Nat is bad at feelings and starts to push the reader away because she has feelings for her but if you can give it a happy end. Thanks!
Yes! Sorry this took so long to get to.
Since The Mission
Summary: Y/N has noticed that Natasha has been avoiding her since the last mission. She’s confused, having no clue why, and wanting to make it right. What could she have done to make Natasha act like this?
Tumblr media
Y/N bounced into the training room, excited. The team had a schedule for training and it had finally come her day to train with her friend, Natasha Romanoff (who was also her crush).
She instantly deflated when she saw the training room lacking one redhead spy, however she had some hope when she saw one archer instead.
“Hey, Clint! Where’s Nat?” Y/N asked, walking over to him.
He gave her a sad smile. “Nat had to skip training today. She told me to tell you that she wished she could come, but Fury needed her last minute for something,” he said.
Y/N concealed her frown. She was sad that Natasha was there, but grateful for Clint!
“I’ll be taking her place, if that’s okay,” he added with a smile.
Y/N nodded, getting herself energized again. “Of course!”
—————————————————————
A couple days later, everyone was hanging out in the living room. Eating snacks, talking, or watching whatever was on the television.
Y/N strolled in, excited. Ever since she and Natasha had been unable to train, she had wanted to go out and hang out with her. Now, she had her chance!
“Hey, Nat!” Y/N said. She looked up from her conversation with Steve. “Since we couldn’t train, do you wanna go out for brunch tomorrow?”
A ghost of a smile lit up Natasha’s face before it quickly disappeared. You’d miss it if you blinked, for it was so subtle her lips quirked up every so slightly, and Y/N did just that - she blinked. She only caught Natasha biting her lip, looking hesitent.
“I’m sorry, I can’t,” Natasha said. “I have brunch with Pepper tomorrow.”
“Oh,” Y/N said, her excitement leaving her once again. “That’s alright. Maybe another time.”
She couldn’t deny her sadness - why was Natasha so unavailable recently? Normally, they’d jump at any opportunity to hang out with each other. They were friends - maybe you could call it best friends - after-all.
—————————————————————
This continued for the next couple days. Natasha rarely talked to her and always had some sort of reason to not hang out with Y/N or be with her. This of course hurt and confused her even more, but she thought that Natasha was probably just going through something. She didn’t want to confront her, because there was a chance that it had nothing to do with her.
—————————————————————
The next day, Y/N was sitting in the living room. She was watching a movie while also doing some paperwork on her laptop, and occasionally would chat with JARVIS.
“Director Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. is now entering the building,” JARVIS informed her.
Y/N looked up, thanking the A.I just as the elevator door opened and the man himself emerged.
“Hello, Sir,” Y/N greeted, standing up and putting her laptop aside. “What can I do for you?”
“I have something I need to talk to Rogers about, but it’s not urgent. Thought I’d come for a little visit,” he replied, offering her a smile. The two hadn’t talked much, but Y/N was forever grateful to him, for he was one of the main reasons that she was on the Avengers team.
Y/N nodded. She glanced around - everyone was somewhere else. “How was your meeting with Natasha?” She asked, making small talk.
There was a brief pause. “I don’t understand what you mean,” Fury said.
“Natasha said that she had a meeting with you last week - she had to miss our training,” Y/N said.
Fury shook his head. “The last meeting I had with Romanoff was last month,” he said.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows. Natasha wasn’t one to lie - not to her. When Steve walked into the room, Y/N was saved from the uncomfortable silence, and she excused herself.
She walked straight to Clint’s floor and found him practicing archery. Y/N wasted no time in beating around the bush.
“Why didn’t Nat train with me last week?” She asked him. Not only was Natasha was lying to her but now Clint, too.
The arrow that definitely would have hit the bullseye made a twang sound against the bow and flopped onto the ground when he released it. Clint looked over at Y/N like a deer caught in the headlights, and he looked around. Wasting no time, he ran to the vent on the wall and climbed inside, scurrying away.
Y/N grunted. “Are you kidding me?” She muttered.
“JARVIS,” Y/N said loudly. “Where is Natasha?”
“She is in the training room,” he answered.
—————————————————————
“What’s going on?” Y/N asked as she walked into the training room, arms crossed. She found Natasha standing by the punching bag and punching it.
“What?” Natasha asked, glancing up briefly before switching her footing and punching again.
“Please, don’t play dumb,” Y/N said. Natasha stopped. “You’ve been avoiding me, and I asked Fury how your meeting with. He told me you never had a meeting. Then, I asked Clint, and he went in the vents. Did I say or do something?”
Natasha sighed. She was prepared to come up with another excuse and brush it off, but she couldn’t. Not when she saw the look on Y/N’s face. She looked like a wounded puppy.
The spy threw off her boxing gloves and walked over, taking a swig of water. “The truth is . . . Ever since the last mission, I realized something. We had that cover at the ball, and you wore that stunning red dress and it hit me . . . You looked amazing. I liked you. And it scared me, so I pushed you away. I didn’t want to like you, because . . . What if you didn’t like me? What if being with me, if that’s even a possibility, got your hurt? I couldn’t live with that,” she admitted, not meeting Y/N’s eyes.
Y/N stared at her, astounded with her jaw hanging open. That was it? She thought Natasha was going to say she hated her! Immediately, she strode over to her and, not caring that Natasha was sweaty from the training, leaning in and kissed her.
Natasha stood there for a moment, not expecting this, but happily kissed her back.
After a couple seconds, they pulled away.
“Oh my god,” Natasha said, breathless.
Y/N grinned, but then her grin faltered as she thought. “I know you’re scared, but not being with you hurts me so much. I promise I won’t break your heart or anything. And I don’t care about getting hurt. I care about you. Could we maybe try to be together?” She said, a little worried. She knew that relationships, especially superhero relationships, were complicated.
Natasha looked at her. “God, you’re so cute,” she whispered, making Y/N blush. She knew she had to answer the question, though, and her answer was this, “Want to go on a date sometime?”
Y/N couldn’t help her squeal and nodded, kissing Natasha gain.
“But,” Natasha said after a couple moments, when they had kissed. “I know you said that you don’t care about being hurt, but I do. The second you get even bruised on a mission I am going to be the protective girlfriend.”
Y/N giggled. Even though Natasha said it in a joking manner, they both knew she was serious. “I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said.
Oliver Queen X Wife! Reader
requested: @purpledragon04
Sorry this took to long i just couldn't think of anything good enough. hope you like it.
Tumblr media
Can you do a Oliver queen x reader? where they’re having a gender reveal party
Word count:2456
Warnings: NONE....slight fluff
“What time is it,” William asked shoving a big bite of pancake in his mouth.
“Son, its only 8am,” Oliver laughed at his son’s excitement.
You walked in the kitchen and sat down next to William. Oliver slide over a plate of pancakes and a cup of coffee. After taking a sip you looked at your husband.
“What time is it,” you asked excitedly and nervously.
Oliver and William laughed as your husband walked over to you and places a kiss on your temple while placing his had on your ever growing belly. Today was the gender reveal party that Thea and Facility planned. You and William were excited to find out what the gender of the baby was, while Ollie was just excited to be having a baby with the love of his life. After all the bad in his life he was happy to have this good thing/things.
“Its just another party,” Oliver said taking a sip of his coffee.
“Ollie, your not looking forward to finding out the gender of our baby,” you asked tearing up.
“Sweetheart, I don’t care if we are having a boy or girl. I just want to have a happy healthy baby with the love of my life,” Oliver replied rubbing your back.
Oliver was right, it doesn’t matter if you were having a boy or girl. Honestly, your would have rather stayed home with the two men in your life but if you did Thea would drag you kicking and screaming.
After Oliver calmed you down from your crazy hormonal episode, the three of you finished breakfast. The party wasn’t until noon so there were four hours to kill.  William went back to his room to play some video game while you took an shower and Oliver clean the kitchen.
“(Y/n) you ok,” Oliver asked after you had been in the shower for an hour.
He walked into the bathroom and found you sitting on the floor of the shower crying. He climbed in and pulled you into his arms letting his t-shirt and sweatpants get soaked. Oliver and you just sat there for a couple minutes.
(N/n) what’s wrong,” he asked.
“What if i’m a bad mom,” you asked Ollie looking over your shoulder.
“Impossible, i’ve seen the way you care about William. I know that you will be a great mom,” he responded laughing.
You gave him a small smile and laughed when you noticed that he was soaking wet. Oliver helped you up and out the shower while he got out of his soaking pjs and took a shower himself.  After getting dressed in maternity leggings and a (f/c) T-shirt dress you laid in bed and continued reading the book on your nightstand.
When ollie was done, he got dressed is just jeans and a t-shirt and went to his office t work on some mayoral things. The three of you were doing your separate things til William ran into your room excitingly.
“Its 11:30 come on lets go,” William said basically bouncing off the walls.
When you found out your were pregnant you were worried not about what Ollie thought but about what William thought. You were scared he would think that this baby would be more important to him but when you and Oliver told him he was excited to be a big brother.
After you got out of bed you and William ran, well William ran you wattled, to Oliver’s office. Oliver laughed at the sight of his pregnant wife and son jumping with excitement and telling him to hurry up. He finished looking over the budget for the police (idk what mayors do) and closed his computer.
The car ride there consisted of William going back and forth over either wanting to have a baby brother or sister, and you staring into space imagining your life with a baby boy then again with a baby girl. Spoiler alert both were full of sleepless nights and tears from you. Oliver held your hand and shot down williams dream to play some video game with a little brother.
“William, you won’t be able to play Modern Warfare with a newborn,” he laughed.
When we pulled up to Oliver’s childhood home, Thea, Felicity and Dig came outside and greeted us. Thea walked past her brother and gave you a big hug. Oliver faked a hurt look while Thea ignored him and then went to hug her nephew.
“OMG you’re glowing,” Felicity stated pulling you into a hug.
“I think the term you are looking for is gigantic,” you said returning the hug.
“She’s right (y/n) you look amazing,” Oliver said placing a kiss on your temple.
“You have to say that cause you are coming home with me.”
“No it the truth. You are the most beautiful person in the multiverse.”
“Wow you’re cheesy Mr. Queen. Now lets find out if we are having a little girl or another boy. “
The two of you walked into the Queen Mansion. Moira was standing in the parlor by a table with little paper pins of the supergirl symbol and flash symbols. With a sign that read “will baby Queen be Supergirl or flash?”
“Omg this is too cute,” you said picking up each symbol.
Oliver looked over at his sister and Felicity. Dig laughed at Ollie’s reaction an pined a flash symbol to his shirt. William grabbed a flash symbol then went to hug Moira.
“Whose idea was this,” Oliver asked when you put on a supergirl symbol.
“Ours,” Kara and Berry said walking out of the living room.
“Kara, you’re here,” you exclaimed running or more likely waddling towards your best friend.
“I would never miss the baby shower,” she responded hugging you.
After you grabbed a supergirl symbol which matched the one Kara was wearing and she pulled you into the living room which was decked out in supergirl and flash decorations also pink and blue balloons. There was the famous first picture of Kara flying and a picture of the Flash above the fireplace. All of our superhero friends were here including our DEO friends from Earth-19.  It  was nice seeing everyone when it didn’t involve a worlds ending crisis.
Oliver walked over to you to take in the decorations and the fact that he has to look at a dozen pictures of Barry and Kara. You looked over at your husband and saw that he was wearing a supergirl and flash symbol on his shirt. Before you could comment on the buttons Sara walked into the mansion with the legends.
“Sara, how can someone with a time machine always be late,” you joked hugging her.
“Mick,” Sara replied as an excuse and with that one word you completely understood.
After ten minutes of catching up with Alex, Kara, and Brainy, it was time to play some games. Thea grabbed you and Oliver and brought you two to the front of room. The first game was guess the baby food. Kara and Felicity walked around the room with a plater of baby food jars with no labels and tiny plastic spoons.
After playing guess the baby food, baby bingo, baby birthday pool, and having everyone write wishes for baby queen, and scarfing down three sandwiches, two cake pops and some fruit it was time for the big reveal. Thea directed everyone out to the backyard while Dig and Barry brought out a wooden target with the words ‘Supergirl or The Flash’ in red and blue. There were three black balloons pinned to the plywood. Felicity stood infant of the target and explained that the colors in the balloons will match the superhero costumes so red is for the flash and blue is for supergirl. Thea brought Oliver a bow and three arrows.
“Really speedy,” Oliver asked smiling.
“Its cute ollie,” Thea replied patting his back.
You laughed at how the green arrow is gonna fire an arrow to find out if the baby is “supergirl” or the “Flash”. Oliver wouldn’t admit it cause he is a stubborn bastard but he thought the idea was cute. You went up behind Oliver and wrapped your arms around him and placed a kiss between his shoulder blades.
“Don’t miss,” you teased him.
“You think your cute,” he retorted as you let him go and stood behind him.
“I know I am.”
Oliver shook his head and let out a small laugh as he grabbed an arrow and pulled the drawstring back. Everyone beside William and I were standing three feet behind Oliver watching to see what color explodes from the balloons. Oliver let the arrow fly and it hit the black ballon on the right and white paint exploded. Oliver reloaded the bow and took aim. William and you were anxiously waiting to see if the next shoot would be red or blue. Oliver released the arrow and shot the balloon on the left. The balloon released white paint again. In that moment you mentally cursed Felicity, Thea, and Kara for setting up the reveal like this. The suspense was killing you.
“Babe come here,” Oliver called to you.
You walked over and Oliver handed you the bow. “Sweetheart, you know I cant shoot a bow like you can,” you explained trying to give the bow back.
“I will help you,” he said pulling you back towards him.
Oliver grabbed the last arrow and placed it on the string. He placed his hand over your on the bow and guided your other hand to the string. The two of you pulled the sting back and Oliver helped you relax your shoulders.
“Take a deep breath and focus on the target.”
“You sure you don’t want to do this yourself.”
“Be quiet and focus.”
Oliver helped you correct your position and placed his hands back over yours. You and Oliver took a deep breath and he whispered “Let go” in your ear. The arrow flew across the yard and landed center of the last balloon. Blue paint exploded from the balloon. A girl. You and Oliver were having a girl. You dropped the bow and turned around and wrapped your arms around your husband. William ran over and hugged the both of you.
“Congratulations,” everyone yelled.
Moira and Thea came over to y’all and pulled you and Oliver into a hug. It didn’t matter what color came out of the balloon because you knew no matter what this baby would be loved and protected. I mean her god mother was freaking supergirl.
“You happy,” you asked your husband.
“Yes, now I don’t have to watch you dress my baby in flash onesies,” he said placing a kiss on your temple.
“I can still do that just to annoy you.”
“I guess it will be cool to have a little sister,” William said. You laughed at his reaction and pulled him into a hug.
After a couple minutes, everyone went back inside to finish the party. The party lasted another hour and Moira left to finish some business for Queen Consolidated and the rest of our non-super friends left. Team supergirl, team flash, the rest of team arrow, the legends, and Kate Kane stayed. Since we didn’t have to keep any secrets now we decided to open some presents.
Kara gave us a cute supergirl onesie with a little cape and a bib that read ‘stronger than supergirl’. “Kara this is too cute,” you hugged your best friend again. “Please this is nothing. Im going to spoil her so much.”
Alex gave us a cute teddy bear. “Thanks Alex,” you said giving it a tight squeeze. “Its just like the one my dad gave me when I was younger.”
Jon gave us some martian baby toy. It looked like a block of bedrock. “Its an old martian toy. It can shift to what every toy she thinks about.” “That is really cool Jon, thanks.”
Brainy gave us a cd with classical music to play during bedtime because it has been proven to increase intelligence. “Thank you Brainy.” “It has my favorites. Playing it every night will increase the baby’s intelligence by 45%.”
Kate got us a lot of diapers and pacifiers. “I didn’t know what to get so,” “No Kate this is great thanks.”
The Legends gave us a bunch of baby toys the stole from time. Some from the past and some from the future. “These are really cool.” “This one was from Queen Victoria’s nursery,” Nate explained. “Having these won’t mess up the time line will they?” Oliver asked. “Probably,” Mick said.  “I don’t know,” Nate said.  “No,”Sara said. “We will find out,” ray commented.
Caitlyn gave us a little baby booties/socks that monitor the baby’s vitals when she is sleeping. “Caitlyn this is awesome. Thank you,” “your welcome.”
Cisco build a little mobile with all the our symbols and it played “twinkle twinkle little star” “This is pretty cool Cisco,” Oliver stated spinning it around. “It also can create a protective force field around the crib at the push of this button,” he said handing you a small black remote. “Ok, that’s great. Hopefully we never need it,” you said looking closely at the mobile.
Iris and Barry gave us of course two flash onesies and a little green arrow one too. “Wow thanks Barry,” Oliver said in a monotone. “Come one ollie, these are really cute,” you pleaded holding up one of the flash ones.
Ralph gave us a cute little dinosaur plushie. “Thank you Ralph. This little guy is really cute.”
Thea and roy got us a little pink blanket. “Speedy is that,” Oliver asked.
“Yea mom helped me find it.” “Ollie what is it,” you asked taking the blanket from him. “This is her old blanket. Thea would never go anywhere without it.” “Thea this is so sweet.”
Dig and Lila got us a bunch of baby thing that they said saved their lives with baby Sara. “Trust us you will need these,” Lila explained. “Thanks you guys.”
Felicity got us a bunch of little books. “These are perfect Felicity,” you thanked her.
After presents, Oliver, dig, Barry, and William loaded the car up with all the stuff and the three of you left to head home. The car ride home was quiet; William was playing his video games and you and Oliver just held hands in silence. It was perfect. The silence only broke one time when William commented, “Just so you know I'm not playing dress up or attending a tea party.” You laughed and looked at your husband. The two of you just knew that William will end up doing anything for his little sister.
Top 10 Favorite Young Justice Characters
Tumblr media
10. Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
Starting off the list is Blue Beetle. Young Justice introduced me to him, and I was hooked. He’s probably the most mellow and calming voice. His arc and relationship with Bart (friendship or not) were my favorite aspects of S2. They bounced off each other in every scene. I was very disappointed when Jaime and Bart were sidelined so much, and hope S4 changes this (particularly with Bart).
Jaime in the number 10 spot since he doesn’t really have much of a memorable personality. Still love him to bits though.
Tumblr media
        9. Will Harper/Red Arrow
Funny enough, I did not like Will. He was an asshole in S1; S2 kind of changed my mind about him but not enough since he didn’t appear as much. What really changed my mind was the episode “Private Security” (S3 Ep.4). I started looking back into Will’s storylines and, I have to admit, his is probably one of the best character development.
The first season had him unwillingly living a lie and betraying the people he cared for. In season 2 he was so consumed into finding the original Roy for five years, not even caring or focusing about his own life. I felt really bad for Will because he was probably going through an identity crisis and thought he couldn’t live his life without finding Arsenal. Probably felt guilty.
Seeing him living his own life and being happy with his daughter was so heartwarming. I smiled every time Will appeared in the latest season (totally ignoring the Will x Artemis fiasco), especially with Lian. I’m very proud of him.
I feel bad for putting him so low, yet I adore the next characters more.
Tumblr media
 8. Garfield Logan/Beast Boy
I have been a massive Beast Boy fan since Teen Titans so you probably can imagine how excited to see him. His origin story was unique and his brother-sister bond with M’gann was very sweet. It was pretty weird seeing how much younger Gar was than Dick, but I got used to it. I was bummed that Gar wasn’t in S2 as much; however, S3 truly made up for it.
After watching Beast Boy being a great leader in S5 of Teen Titans, I wanted a leader-like and more mature version of him. Young Justice truly delivered with Gar being the leader of the Outsiders. It’s nice to see him treated with respect rather than as a joke because that was my biggest gripe with Teen Titans. Though it was weird seeing him not crack a joke at all.
Gar’s story with his mom was heartbreaking to see. I literally cried seeing his reaction to revisiting his trauma in S2 and S3; I just wanted to hug and tell him how awesome he is. My only complaint with Gar in S3 was that the Outsiders weren’t established until near the end of the season.
His voice actor being Greg Cipes also gives him extra points (He’s a chill guy and radiates BB energy).
Tumblr media
 7. Dick Grayson/Nightwing/ Robin I
Sorry to all the hardcore Nightwing fans.
I love Dick (don’t get any ideas), but he doesn’t get enough development in the spotlight. One of the things I really wanted to see from him is his growth as a main leader, and his journey to becoming Nightwing. I was really bummed when these happened between the first two seasons.
To be honest, I don’t have as much to say about him other than straightforward qualities I enjoy about him.
1.His Voice (it’s so soothing)
2.His Personality (very charismatic)
3.Very Handsome (Probably in the top 3 my most handsome YJ Men list)
I put him higher than the others since he made a lot of contribution to the story and his new words (gotta love that aster!)
Tumblr media
6. Megan Morse/M’gann M’orzz/Miss Martian
If I made this list during S1, M’gann would have probably been in my top 3 (maybe even No. 1), but S2 didn’t give her any brownie points.
I really liked S1 Miss Martian because of her kind heart, awkward girl next door personality. Her trouble fitting in the beginning reminded me of when I was going through a time in high school; seeing her having trouble as well helped me feel not so lonely. M’gann powers were (still are) my favorite since I am a big fan of mind-like powers. I would feel so powerful. Watching her identity crisis(?) arc was great too. I’ve had trouble feeling comfortable in my own skin as well as my social anxiety (I’m a mess) and I could understand how scared Megan was of her friends’ thoughts on her true form.
Oh boy. Season 2 basically ruined her. Learning what she would do to enemies was terrifying to see and left me wondering what happened to Miss Martian that made her step this far. What she almost did to Superboy was almost unforgivable. You do not try to manipulate with your boyfriend’s mind when you guys have an argument! Shame on you M’gann. If Superboy hadn’t forgiven you then I wouldn’t have either.
Good thing S3 somewhat redeemed her. Her kind heart was noticeable again and she refused to do that mind trick again (thank god). Very excited for the Superboy and Miss Martian wedding! Please creators, I beg of you to not skip over it. I want to cry my eyes out in happiness!
Tumblr media
 5. Kaldur’ahm/Aquaman/Aqualad
Now we’re in the top 5 with Aqualad (*ahem* Aquaman) starting it off.
Creating Kaldur was the best decision the creators ever did. I love him with all my heart!
He added diversity to the original team and was a great leader. S1 was not his breakout season, though the second season definitely was.
Kladur played the villain so well that he deserves an automatic Oscar. I never doubted that he was with the heroes, but he didn’t disappoint. My favorite part about Aqualad’s performance was when he rose from the ocean slowly like a cliché villain (he made it work), and the line he said right after he “killed” Artemis; it sent me chills. Love it!
Pretty disappointed that he didn’t appear as much in S3. Very happy that he is a part of the LGBTQ+ community and is in a happy relationship. I’m a part of the community and loved that there was finally some representation in one of my favorite shows. Even so, I have to criticize how rushed and sidelined it was. I hope Kaldur and Wyynde’s relationship gets development.
Tumblr media
 4. Kon-El/Conner Kent/Superboy
Like Will, I did not like Superboy at first. Mainly angry and volatile characters were never really my cup of tea. I do understand why he was upset and felt bad for him; I just handle anger the direct opposite as him. My love for Conner started growing around the end of S1. He was very sweet towards Miss Martian (bless him for not caring about her appearance) and his anger was in control.
Season 2 pretty much switched my opinions on him and M’gann. It was awful what M’gann almost did to him. That scene with him being so sad that what she did ruined that special bond they had almost made me cry. I wanted to give him a hug. He grew so much too since I don’t think he would have handled the whole M’gann drama as well in S1. A lot of furniture would’ve been broken.
I gotta admit something. I almost put Conner near the bottom (maybe no. 7). A comment in a poll in Amino changed my mind. I wrote a poll asking other fans who did they prefer SB or MM. At that point I said SB, though I didn’t think much of it. Someone (specifically yjfangirl) responded “Superboy has the best development in the show.” This had me thinking about how far SB has gone. In the beginning, Conner was an angry guy who felt alone and rejected by the person who he was meant to emulate. Now he is happier and living for himself rather than to be the next Superman. He’s getting married people! A little detail I noticed when rewatching S3 was Superboy mentioning to new characters that they weren’t obligated to be a hero because of their abilities. I adored this! The main reason why Superboy was created to be Superman if the original ever died, and another one of Luthor’s puppets. But he strayed from that pressuring path and is doing his own thing. Conner doesn’t want other people to feel like he did. What an absolute pure soul.
Also, yjfangirl, first I want to say Hi (*waves*)! Then say thanks for writing that comment. It made me really think about the bigger picture with SB and my love for him as grown exponentially. You probably didn’t mean to do that, but I still want to thank you. 😊
Tumblr media
 3.Wally West/Kid Flash
We’re in the elites now.
I don’t know how to explain it, I just love Wally. He makes me laugh, and his character growth was great. At first, Wally was this cocky flirt who didn’t take the hero work as seriously. That changed in “Cold-hearted,” one of my favorite episodes in the series. This was when I really started seeing more of Wally than being this dumb flirt. It was great seeing him actually caring about helping people since I believed for a long time that he wanted to be a superhero to just have powers rather than actually protect others. The regret in his eyes when he thought his impulsive behavior killed Perdita helped me see who he really was- this somewhat arrogant speedster who had a kind heart. Episodes that can make me change my perspective on characters are truly special.
I was very upset that he wasn’t in S2 a lot. I understand why since he gave up the life, but I was still bummed. Seeing him being so loving and protective towards Artemis was amazing. Spitfire is my favorite ship and I will not give up on them. All I want is a happy ending! The penultimate episode of S3 was a hint that it will happen. Watching the S2 finale was heartbreaking, I cried watching him disappear, his love for Artemis being the last things he said. Artemis’ reaction did not(I just wanted to hug her).
I have more to say, though I’m leaving it for another post. 😉
Tumblr media
 2.Bart Allen/Kid Flash II/Impulse
Picking between Bart and Wally for second place was tough. Took me a while to decide; I’ll talk about it later on.
The moment Bart made his appearance, I absolutely adored him. He is amazing and I live for his hyper, fun attitude. His arc and relationship with Jaime were my favorite aspects of S2. What can I say, their chemistry is great to see.
That scene when he was meeting the Flash family was so adorable. His excitement was infectious and spoiling his dad and aunt’s births was hilarious! I watch it occasionally whenever I need a good laugh or reason to smile.
Unlike most time travelers- at least the ones I’ve seen- Bart was very involved with what was going on and befriended his biggest enemy- evil and weirdly huge future Blue Beetle. He was pretty careful about disclosing very important information and took things very seriously. You never know if disclosing everything was the thing that brought the world to chaos.
What I found interesting was his choice on how to interact with everyone. He seemed pretty gloomy in the future, but decided to portray this cheerful, devil-may-care attitude to be more likable. I understood (still kind of do). I had terrible mental health issues and I pretended to be happy in front of loved ones because I thought they wouldn’t care about me anymore. Bart got some brownie points for that.
I was dissatisfied when his role was greatly reduced. I wanted the creators to go further with Bart by revealing his past and how it affected him. He was pretty much comedy relief. You couldn’t imagine how disappointed I was, especially with it involving my second favorite character. Season 4 better change that.
I know that you shouldnt assume a character’s sexuality, yet I really hope Bart is gay. There needs to be more clear representation and Bart can be one of them. I’m also a Bluepulse and Bartuado shipper (fine with either one as long as Bart’s bond with each of them stays strong).
Anyway, I mentioned that I would explain why I chose Bart for 2nd place over Wally. It mostly stems from wishful thinking. I really want S4 to have Bart as a main character since I believe the future will be strong plot point in the season. Development could surely happen such as Bart opening up more about what he went through. Let all those feelings go.
I’m going to write an article on my hopes for S4 when a release date is announced. Bart and Wally will most definitely be talked about.
 …..
We are finally near the end!
And my No. 1 favorite character is…
Drumroll please!
..
.
Tumblr media
1.Artemis Crock/Tigress/Artemis
That’s right people!
Artemis Crock, original member of the Team and daughter of villains!
She is such an inspiration to anyone who wants to go their own past without their parents’ support.
It’s hard to describe how much I love Artemis. She’s brave, strong-willed, and a kind person. It’s crazy how great of a person she is after all the terrible things that happened to her. I look up to her because I don’t have a healthy relationship with my parents (verbal and mental abuse) and there are times I don’t feel strong enough to stand on my own. I want to carry the amount of strength Artemis has as my own.
After all that happened in S2, it was amazing to see Artemis come back to the team and train the new generation. It must have been hard to walk away from a safe, comfortable life for a chaotic, dangerous life. I admire that in everyone, but I hold more respect for Artemis since “the life” “killed” Wally. I wanted to hug her so bad.
She’s also one of the kindest people in the show, the events in S3 being the best example. When Zatanna was crying about her dad, Artemis was there to comfort her. It was so sweet! Roy and her also took in Halo and Terra like they were a part of the family; the archer treated them like the best big sister. That rainstorm scene was heartwarming to the core.
Wouldn’t Artemis be an amazing mother? Lian and her have a strong bond like a mother and daughter; I loved it, and Lian is in good hands with Roy and Artemis. Though Jade deserves a chance to be a mother. Artemis also seemed to enjoy taking care of those kids in that S1 episode. Wally too. You guys know what I’m guys insinuating. 😉
Get ready for some fanfics on that someday.
My favorite Artemis-centered episode was the second to last episode of S3. I was waiting for this episode centering around Artemis missing Wally and learning to move on. It was great yet heartbreaking. Nothing bad happened. That Will and Artemis kiss never happened. Everyone makes a mistake. No matter how terrible it was.
Anyway, seeing Artemis and Wally living their lives and having a baby gave me life, even if it was fake. It was a vision of the future. I will believe this until there is confirmation that Wally will not come back.
Did anyone else cry when Artemis was so desperate to, but Wally wouldn’t let that happen (the real Wally would do that)? They are a great example of a healthy relationship with all the love and support they have for each other. I want that.
from stars to the balcony (b.b)
I could feel my legs burn from pacing the length of my room, my finger toying with the sleeve of my long sleeve. The tea I had made earlier sat on the table but I had long forgotten about it, the conversation from the kitchen was replying too fast.
I was fired, I didn’t have a job. I had bills to pay but no income for the moment. It was because of downsizing, which meant I could get unemployment, but still. I had been working at this job since I was fresh out of college and now I was left to rot in my own self pity.
I pulled my shirt closer to my skin, hoping it would absorb into my skin. As soon as I got the call I turned the heat down, hoping it would save some money. I rubbed my hand up and down my face, trying to think something over in my head but I was too stuck.
The busy street of Brooklyn was calmer than normal, something I was thankful for. I didn’t want to listen to stranger arguments or drunk girl giggles tonight, I didn’t want to even hear my own thoughts. I picked up the tea cup, walking back over the microwave and placing it in the center. I punched in the numbers, turning to lean on. my counter as I rocked on my heels.
I wanted to scream, but I didn’t need a noise complaint either and considering the man next door always got home late, I had only seen his face and I recognized his face immediately but I said nothing, it wasn’t my business.
Suddenly the calming sound of my microwave had stopped, the little lamp in the corner of the was out and I already knew what had happened, This is why this place had 3 stars. I pulled at the shirt to cover my hands, hoping that would change something but I could already fill the cold air rush over my cheeks.
I turned to open the microwave, smiling, then I noticed the tea had a light smoke falling out the top, dancing in the pitch back air with a little heat rushing to my face. I held it closer, finding one of the many candles I had bought forever ago and lit it in the center of the room.
I would’ve scrolled through my phone for a minute but I didn’t need my data bill going up. The soft blanket my cousin had knitted me was wrapped tightly around me and I could already feel myself warming. I looked around the room, trying to find a book I hadn’t read or something to do when I noticed the clear sky. It made me wonder why the power even went out, my curiosity getting the best of me as I pulled the blanket closer and warmed my hands on the tea. I grabbed the metal handle of the door, opening it just enough to slip through before I rested my hands on the edge. I looked down for a second, the sidewalk only had a few people on it and there were only taxis on the street.
“You aren’t jumping, are ya?”
I turned around swiftly, spotting the silhouette of a person on the balcony beside me. He had a hat pulled down to cover his face, he was wearing a thin long sleeve and pants, definitely not bundled up in the cold breeze of Brooklyn.
I had to remind myself who he was, superheroes don’t freeze in New York city.
“Oh no, no,” I repeated the words quickly, finding I had leaned over slightly to look at the city below better.
“Just checking, wouldn’t want to explain that to the cops.”
I winched when I realized what he meant, they would think he did it.
“Your name is James, right?” I decided having a conversation with the man from next door never hurt anyone, although I noticed the book in his lap and I didn’t think he’d respond, I wouldn’t blame him.
“Yeah, but most people call me worse names.”
I frowned, moving to the corner closer to him so I wouldn’t have to talk as loud. This felt like a lot more intimate conversation.
“I’ve been called so pretty bad things, doesn’t mean they're true.”
He didn’t respond, I suppose he didn’t wanna get into it with a stranger.
“What book ya reading?”
“Hunger something,” he moved it slightly so I could see part of the cover. I smiled when I recognized the gold bird across the dark cover.
“The Hunger Games! I really enjoyed that one,” I turned back to look out at the sky, “I’ve watched the movies one too many times.”
“They made movies?”
I was about to yelp but I managed to hold it back, I had forgotten not everyone was obsessed with these things.
“Yeah, four of ‘em,” I could hear my own voice jump a few octavos, he was probably so annoyed with me.
“Oh,” I saw him nod out the corner and I decided I should shut up and let him continue his reading. It was only fair because if someone had interrupted me I’d probably pull a Katniss and shot them with a bow and arrow.
I let my eyes drift over the closed stores, the light around the area was out and it made me feel better. We weren't the only place without power. The few people on the sidewalk were gone and I watched the last taxi drive off with two giggling girls who were wearing those “I Heart NY” shirts. I always loved counting those as a kid, feeling a strange pride from being from New York.
“You must be from around here.”
There was his voice giving me a heart attack again. If he didn’t keep catching me off guard I would admire how rough and powerful it sounded, like he could tell you to sit and you’d do it like a sad puppy waiting for a treat.
“Yeah, Buffalo but I visited Brooklyn a lot, how’d ya know?” I turned slightly so I could look at him when I spoke, since he seemed to actually want to talk.
“Only people from New York would be amazed by the clear sky, I used to hate how you could never see the stars,” I watched him place the book to the side, standing up and leaning against his own railing. The faint light from the few buildings that had power flashed across his face. He was taller than I remembered and his hair was longer, pulled into a little ponytail at the nape of his neck. I watched him tip his hat up slightly, I could actually see his eyes.
“I didn’t even notice the stars,” I turned back to look at the stars in question, smiling when I could see all the consolation that people would point out in chessy movies.
“I was amazed I could see any, kinda glad the power went out.”
He shrugged so carelessly, something about the demeanor suited him.
“I wish I could say the same,” I whispered against the wind, trying to push the feeling I had earlier from my body completely but I knew that was impossible.
It was silent for a second like we both didn’t want to scare the stars from the sky.
“I never learned any of the consolations.”
I smiled this time when he spoke because he was trying to keep the conversation alive.
“Can’t say I have either,” I turned back to admire him, the way he looked at the stars like it was everything to him.
“That one looks like it would be a Latin name,” he pointed to a cluster of stars like he was pointing at a cloud and telling someone it looked like an elephant when it definitely didn’t. Instead of calling him out I smiled, turning and letting my own eyes ranked over the millions of stars.
“That one looks really important, you know like it comes out every two hundred years, my finger extended to point at a few stray stars that seemed to shine brighter than the rest, but I doubted that.
“Wonder if you’re right,” I could hear a slight chuckle in his voice as if he knew something I didn’t but it was more than likely he did.
“If I am then you owe me ten bucks,” my own laughs filled in behind his own, the once silent streets were long gone as James pointed to a different star.
“That one looks like you.”
“How can someone look like a star,” I kept laughing, looking at the stars he was talking about.
“I don’t know, but you do.”
I felt his eyes watch me but I didn’t have it in me to look at him, just watching the star that apparently looked like me. A large, duller star sat beside it but as it moved it seemed to grow brighter.
“That one is you then,” I pointed, smiling when I heard him scoff.
“That feels like a burn!”
I laughed, smiling as the breeze spread over my body and I couldn’t help but pull the blanket closer. I wanted to go in, because while it wasn’t much warmer it was something, but picking out stars with this man next door was a lot of fun.
I didn’t expect to enjoy the powerless night so much, but I was suddenly just as happy about it.
“I think that is Sirius, the dog star,” the nerd in me jumped out, laughing when I heard him slam his hand slightly on the rail. I said nothing of the mental on mental sound, I knew some things that happen in pop culture.
“I thought you didn’t know about this stuff!”
“I don’t, I just like Harry Potter,” I shrugged, looking back at his face. The few lights that were once on were off down, the only reason I saw any of his face was street lamps and the moon itself. I enjoyed watching his eyebrows raise, disappearing under the brim of his hat.
“I think Banner mentioned that once,” I don’t think he meant for me to hear and I thought best not to talk about his line of work, I definitely wouldn’t want to have to talk about mine if he asked.
“Probably, book and movie series.”
He nodded, both our eyes filtered back to the night sky that hung above us. It was enchanting to say the least, two kids from the city looking up at the sky like they lived in the country.
“You seemed stressed when you came out, do you feel any better?”
For the first time tonight, he asked a question I didn’t want to answer. I didn’t want to talk about any of my feelings from inside my small apartment, that was too real for the boy next door. Out here was light and airy, no stuffy matter allowed.
“Yeah, but I’d rather not talk about it.”
“I wasn’t planning on asking, just wanted to make sure you were feeling better.”
Anyone else would have been offended. He wasn't planning to ask but I respected it. He understood not to ruin a good moment like this, not now. Keep it light while it can be, because the second things get heavy the feeling is gone, I needed a light moment for this single second. If he wanted to knock on my door in the morning and ask then, fine, but now wasn’t the time and I was thankful we saw the same thing.
Another breeze brushed over my skin, a chill running up my skin and I frowned when the mug was no longer hot. I heard a pop from behind me and I turned to notice my lamp was back on.
The power was back, which meant the moment was gone.
“Well, power is back,” he awkwardly pointed over his shoulder at the building, his own apartment didn’t have much light but I assumed he was out here before the power went out,
“Yeah, I should probably head in,” I knew it would be warmer, but I felt as if my body was so much calmer out here.
“Yeah.”
We watched each other for a minute, I took my last glance at the boy with the beat up hat and the laugh of a Greek God.
“Night James,” I waved over my shoulder, holding the mug to my chest and grabbing the freezing door handle.
“Night (Y/N).”
I slipped back in the apartment, smiling when the little heat crashed onto my freezing cheeks, the contrast nice for the first few seconds. I set the mug down, blowing out the candle as my apartment now smelt like apple cider, which was just as calming. I missed the moments on the balcony but I was happy for the heat. I moved around my apartment, fixing my alarm clock and resetting a few other things after the power outages. I had just replugged the wifi router when I heard a little knock at my door. I assumed it was the landlord to tell me the power was back, obviously. I slid across the floor, swinging it open as I was prepared to lean on the door frame. I felt myself frown, not out of sadness but confusion as I realized who it was.
“James?”
He pulled his hand out his pocket, holding out ten dollars with a little shrug.
“Some crazy eclipses thing is happening tonight, hasn’t happened in two hunder and nine years.”
I couldn’t stop the large smile that graced my lips as I reached out to pull the ten-dollar from his grip, smiling more when he lingered in the doorway for a second.
“The tea you had looked good,” he rocked back and front of his feet, his eyes downcast to his shoes.
“Like a mug of it?” He looked up, smiling as I opened the door wider from him.
“If you insist.”
