This is genuinely one of the reasons I HATED Reylo. Finn was set up to be Rey’s romance. And then fucking Rian Johnson changed it. I am still so bitter about that.

This is not directed towards Reylo fanfic writers who are lovely and getting well-deserved publishing deals this is simply a frustration I felt towards the trilogy as a whole.

For whatever it’s worth calling someone you like or admire a king or queen is pretty typical in AAVE, but sure bust out that armchair psychology. The Black man would only respond positively to praise out of sociopathy or narcissism. Because no celeb on social media ever likes a compliment.

But the most depressing part was this was the attitude I’ve seen over and over again that boils down to the idea that Black actors just needing to shut up, smile, never defend themselves, and know their place:

Why don't you just stay away from your trigger content instead of forcing people to consume what YOU want them to consume?

It's always "People shouldn't write about this" "People will see X abusive ship and think it's okay irl" "People will see this and think X trope it's okay" "People will see this and think doing X in real life is okay" "People will turn into rapists/murderers/abusers if they see rapes/murders/abuse in media".

But it's never "People are responsible for what they consume" "People are responsible for their own actions" "If someone does X bad thing is not the media's fault, but the person's fault for having such bad morality" "If you feel triggered by some content, just block it" "People should teach others what's wrong and what's right instead of just hoping media will tell them murder is bad, killing someone is bad, abusive relationships are bad, etc"

Honestly, if you're a person who uses the word "romantizice" or you say "people shouldn't romanticize [X] in fiction" "victims of [X] will feel triggered with this and you shouldn't write about it" you are instantly a red flag for me. I want toxic people and pro-censorship people to stay away from me, thank you.

Some bitches are truly so mad about a ship that they're more obsessed with that ship than the shippers are. They'll write essays, whole fanfics, make fanart, Pinterest hate boards, hate blogs, just to hate on that ship. They'll even write their hate all over the Fandom Wiki pages so that new fans believe their bullshit.

Maybe spend your time loving the ships you actually enjoy instead of constantly spreading hate about the ones you don't?
