Song Review: Ana Egge - “Sorry You’re Sick”

Alcoholism sounds positively dreamy on “Sorry You’re Sick.”

That’s the brilliance of Ana Egge’s heartfelt Ted Hawkins cover - a cascade of jazzy folk that, with its organ, brushed drums and high harmonies, disguises the song’s wracked emotion.

What do you want from the liquor store/something sour or something sweet/ain’t you had all of the pain you can hold/you know the bottle don’t love you no more, Egge and her supporting voices sing on a meandering river of sound that seems to represent healing hydration.

“Sorry You’re Sick” announces the May 17 arrival of Sharing in the Spirit and indicates Egge - unlike the person she is singing for - is in peak shape.

Egg-fried rice with avocado <3

2 eggs 134cal

100g Basmati rice 117cal

45ml Light soy sauce 27cal

Small avocado 120cal

Recipe;

Cook rice according to package instructions (weigh 100g dry) then fluff and leave to the side to cool slightly.

Use a non-stick pan (no oil) and lightly scramble your egg before adding the cooked rice to your pan.

Slowly add your soy sauce until the rice is browned- fry for a further 5 minutes until the rice sticks to itself.

Plate up the rice and fry an egg in the same pan- add a little water once all the edges are all white so it crisps up nicely!

Thinly slice your avocado and add both the cooked egg and avocado on top, enjoy!
