Fic Series Idea: Jason and Dick both get de-aged permanently in public at Damian's 13th birthday gala.
They both get de-aged to their 13th birthdays and have their memories from then. Both Zatana and Constantine confirm it's permanent but they also say there's something weird with the spell, it's not a simple de-aging spell but they can't figure out what the difference does.
Exactly a month after they get de-aged they find out. All the memories of the month after their 13th birthdays floods into their mind and the scars and muscle memory appears on/in their bodies.
The 2 Robins think it's cool but are secretly kinda scared because by the time they get to their original ages they'll be completely different people from both who they are now and who they became because sure they'll have their memories and bodies and muscle memory but they'll also have the memories of growing up again.
The rest of the batfam is horrified because this means Jason is going to have to re-experience dying and the pit and everything else and Dick going to have to re-experience all the shit that's happened to him. Being the "completely emotionally competent" people they are they sorta just decide to ignore that and resolve themselves to be better this time round (for Bruce and Alfred) and be good big-little siblings (for the rest).
Damian is also 13 and while it's a little hard to get past the fact that his Akhi and Richard are now the same age as him they become a terrifying trio especially since they can now teach each other a lot easier since they're the same age. Dick teaches them acrobatics and gymnastics and Jason and Damian are having a much easier time picking them up than when older Dick taught them. Jason teaches them how to interact with the people of the alley, victims, etc. and the dirty tricks he'd pull when in a bind as well as general street smarts like places to sleep and how to spot safe and dangerous people etc. which allows Dick and Damian to become a lot closer to the people of Gotham than they were before. Damian teaches them a bunch of stuff from the LoA so Jason and Dick become more effective fighters sooner.
At the beginning of every month Dick and Jason sit down with Alfred for tea and talk about the memories and scars they got the previous night while Alfred reminisces about that time. Sometimes the others join but not often, the most likely to join are Damian or Duke with Steph second most likely.
Obviously they can't go out as Robin so they pick new identities. Jason starts as Flamebird and then changes to Phoenix when he remembers he died. Damian gives Robin back to Dick and changes his name to Shadow.
They also get some new teachers since all of B's training will eventually come back to them. Cass teaches the 3 stealth at Damian's request. Tim and Cass somehow rope in both Lady Shiva and Richard Dragon. Jason finds out about the All-Blades because he accidentally summons them when looking for a knife to cut some bread and his memories of the All-Caste come flooding back and then he begs Bruce to get them magic teachers and Damian and Dick join him, Bruce eventually caves and the 3 become the apprentices of the whole of Justice League Dark.
Also the All-Caste isn't destroyed in this timeline and Jason brings Dick and Damian to it. Essence may or may not literally pass out because of how adorable the 3 are and they get some training there too.
By the time they're all 18 they're 3 of the strongest people on the planet. Dick is their moral compass and has basically become Nightwing but better this time. Jason is both completely different and the same, he's by far the most brutal of the 3 and isn't afraid to kill but if Dick tells him not to kill someone then he won't because Dick is the best out of the 3 of them at telling who could actually change and get help (pedos and rapists are still fair game tho). Damian is as good at stealth as Cass and has an affinity for shadow magic, Jason's penchant for theatrics also rubbed off on him, he also isn't afraid to kill but only does so in the most dire of circumstances. If the 3 show up together you know it's some really big threat but everyone also relaxes majorly.
Damian is the tallest of the 3 at 6ft 5 and has a similar build to Dick but slightly bulkier. Jason comes next at 6ft 4 (yes Damian makes fun of him for it but they both make fun of B for only being 6ft without the bat suit) and has a more similar build to Bruce but slightly stockier with larger muscles. Dick is the shortest at only 5ft 10 and has a slim yet highly muscular build.
Damian is the one that thinks and acts the most like Batman or an assassin in the field mainly using gadgets and stealth. Dick acts much more circus acrobat like by using his magic to create trapezes and whips and ropes and stuff. Jason makes heavy use of magic and is basically what if Red Hood had actual magic rather than just the All-Blades.

I'm having thoughts about Magic All-Caste Jason, and what could have been if he was invented with that destination in mind (and it wasn't written by scott lobdell).
Say he has the same backstory but we cut out the batman and robin interlude. At twelve he falls in with a group of magical warrior monks who are sworn to fight ontological Evil.
The thing is, the all-caste are a caste. What does that actually mean here? They don't interact with the rest of society (or the DC universe) in any meaningful way. Are they a caste above the rest? Below? Enveloping all others? Outside of all others? Why invoke the idea of caste systems at all in a Jason Todd story if you don't have something to say about social class (something Jason's entire character is in conversation with)?
So here's the pitch: the all-caste position themselves as outside of society to better serve their function in defending it. Jason, the previously homeless gotham orphan with a strong sense of justice joins up. He takes vows of poverty and abstinence, which seems redundant to him, he was doing that anyway. He gets the magic and combat training, and is the only human to survive the process in a thousand years etc etc. Upon reaching adulthood they send him out to work.
His mission is to a great hub of Evil, where the fight is most dire and the challenge great, but so too is the need. It's Gotham, obviously.
After a years of training in isolation, he's thrust back into the real world where there is no such thing as 'outside of society', evil looks a lot like the mundane, and people don't fall into discrete good and bad categories, regardless of supernatural influence. He knew all these things but now he has a new ideology and responsibilities and also magic powers. This is his old neighborhood and it is struggling. Some of it is demons. Most of it isn't. What part is The Evil? Jason's not interested in crime but in justice, legal or otherwise. This city is guarded by a warrior who claims to fight from the shadows but in reality fights from a place of power. Jason does the opposite, and he could take or leave the shadows. They are only nominally on the same side. To be outside of the system is to be counter to the system. There is no such thing as a moral billionaire. How do you fight Evil?
It's a story of struggle against the systems he is enmeshed in, idealism, utilitarianism, the desire to do right, the luxury to do right, and the luxury to do wrong. Also he has magic swords and fights a bunch of demons.
#i heard that the all-caste name might be a reference to John Agard's poem Half-caste#about discrimination against mixed race people#but that seems even less relevant to what the comics did with them#jason todd#red hood#dc#batman#bruce wayne#batfam#all-caste

Another twin Au: D and T twins
D and T twins part 2: more info on the twins
When Danyal was pretty young, by accident, he tripped into the pits when no one was looking and came out fine, by after his trip he had gained some abilities that while he wanted to share with his sister, her treated of him was pretty negative and kept to himself, in fact after this he spent his time at the All-Caste to hone his skills partly, but distant himself from his sister.
During this time, he was contacted by a Deity named Chronos/ Clockwork who promised him some clarity on the future of the League as well as some insight into his family and his place in the league.
Now, Danyal knew that the League was not a good nor safe environment to promote the betterment of others, but had a fate that maybe it could change. Both himself and his sister were trained in the art of combat and assassination, but Danyal excelled better in emotional manipulation, strategy and the element of surprise, while his sister was the brutal attacker with her deadly charms.
Talia forgot due to trauma, that one of Ra's tests was to have some assassins assassinate them in their sleep, but one was a little more handsy than they should of, so when Danyal heard his sister's quiet tears, Danyal was there and with quick efficiency and brutally the assassin was dismembered into chunks that Talia had to change sleeping quarters and they could never really get rid of the bloodstains in that room. (This hints at some aggression that can be seen in Dan Phantom)
This is where Ra took a personal interest in Danyal and had mandatory sessions with him. During or after some sessions, Danyal was able to get into Ra's journal without being caught and he read the first-hand account of Ra's deeds. Danyal is appalled by this but understands that from an early age, his father has been mentally unwell from his Lazarus pits baths and that whatever remains is his brain struggling to process all the years he has been alive and that his mistreatment of his sister is due to old ways thinking. After the failed switch between Danyal and Ra, Ra trained his sister to be on equal footing as her brother, but without the spiritual resilience Danyal had.
[During Danyal's trip into the Danny Phantom universe, Danyal had been reduced to being reborn again into the Fenton Family and lived his 14 years ( and experienced his sister's frustrations with a "Golden child" sibling with Jazz) with them until his accident. Danyal, now Danny was good friends with both Tucker Foley and Sam Manson but had some reservations about their goals in befriending him. With Danny's new abilities, he dons the character of Ghost superhero as he had opened the portal and was partially responsible for its work.
Danny played the role of a failing high student who was bullied by peers,( a Clark Kent/Superman role) cut to the episodes where Danny deals with enemies such as Vlad, Freakshow, the GIW, the Observants, Valerie, Pariah Dark and any other big names. Danny had made friends with some of the ghosts including the deity Clockwork after a false assassination attempt and had learned the true nature of the Lazarus pits i.e. ectoplasm. Danny doesn't really entertain the idea of dating but accepts that he has preferences for strong driven individuals...batman.
At the end of the series, not including Phantom Planet, the Sr. Fentons have discovered Danny's true identity as Phantom as well as Danyal Al Ghul that he briefed to his sister, his clone (That after being discovered and rescued from Vlad was kept in the Zone to properly stabilize) and friends some time ago, the Fentons are outraged and in a move of pure idiocy, they blow up their portal that blows their home up and killing them and turning them into ghosts.
They spend their afterlives in ghost zone prisons, learning to correct their biases in death. Jazz ends with either the Foleys or Mister Lancer as Danyal is declared dead at the scene along with his parents. (He's not but once he gets back to his dimension, and Jazz has finished her education she will join him. Sam and Tucker may summon him, but he is not bringing them as he feels that there is no need for them to join him in the assassination and Danny is mentally older than them both as he played Danny as he never experienced normal childhood. Even if Sam harbours a crush on him, he has stated that he reserved his affections for someone else.]
More in part 3...

This came up again in a recent discussion.
It’s a bit unclear how much Jason has talked about his time with the All-Caste. In Batman and Robin: Eternal (2015) there’s a panel that for the life of me I can’t find cuz I’m not sure of the issue but I know it’s when Jason’s affected by Ichthys and his ability to fear is being re-written. Tim is able to interrupt the process and mentions Jason’s All-Caste training. (edit: either I imagined this panel or I'm seeing panels from alternate realities cuz I cannot find it again)
Knowing how Jason is, it’s doubtful he would have told anyone in his family. Why would any of them know about it?
So, I propose the reason anyone knows about this is because of Roy. Why? Please picture the following convo:
Roy to Dick, off-handedly, while they’re catching up after the Outlaws went their separate ways: yeah, and you wanna know what else is weird, Jason glows
Dick: I’m sorry, what? Is this some weird Lazarus thing we should know about?
Roy: no, he glows when he meditates due to some weird mark from this supernatural group he trained with. And he has these weird bronze swords that are attached to his soul or something
Dick, uncertain if he should actually be concerned or not: I’m going to need you to explain this to me
The panel from Red Hood and the Outlaws (2010) showing Jason does glow

Love is stored in the knife
So I feel like having the All-Caste just be one of the places Jason spent a few weeks training during Lost Days is a pretty easy and intuitive way to bridge the pre-flashpoint and post-n52 timelines right?
And that bridge also obviously has to include Jason and Sasha parting ways somehow, because she doesn’t show up after the reboot.
It would be dissatisfying + incongruent with the lighter tone of n52 Red Hood for her to just die, but since Sasha asked to stay with Jason I also feel that he has too many abandonment issues to just tell her ‘ah it’s too dangerous’ and drop her off home.
He’d be aware of the necessity, but would find it immensely difficult. I think he’d have to take extreme measures, say- summoning an All-Blade and giving her a part of his soul- in order to feel okay about it.
And I think the blade takes the shape of the dagger Talia gave him.

Consider:
Jason learning how to do summonings/making golems. I'm talking about starting really small with like...rock/pebble golems (ex. see KaypeaCreation's little rock guys and mushroom).
Very small, not incredibly smart, just little guys. Not sure what to do with them, he just puts them in a private rooftop garden with like...a little faerie garden and some birdhouses to hide in. And just slowly works his way up to bigger summoning and such and away from tiny helper golems.

The implication here is so funny.
No one will believe Dick about the All-Blades, but no one will believe Jason about Dick being evil either. Unless he shows them, which will prove both their points. They're both stuck. 😄
Do the bat's know about the All-Blades? Cuz if not, Jason has an opportunity to do the funniest thing

not caring too much about a fandom’s favourite guy is the worst. you’ll think “oh i’ll look into the tag see if anything new and cool’s there” and it’s just that fucking guy again
#this is about astarion. gale to an extent too#had this with dragonage too because 80% of the time it was just solas or cullen. who i dont care for too much#and i do LIKE astarion and gale. But my favourites are the girls and wyll#something i had less with the dao cast because i generally also like the popular guys of that one alistair and zev#but then it’s like. ‘do you guys even understand these characters’#da2 i dont care for anders dragonage all that much. Fenris i do LIKE and he’s my fav guy. but i dont care for them the most#sorry for complain posting. Went into a tag today if you couldnt tell#roscoe rambles

this manatee looks like it’s in a skyrim loading screen
#lol good luck finding all of the photoshopped versions in the rb history. ‘manatee restored’ is still my favorite of all time#misc#I encourage anyone dyslexic to try rotating him in your mind. I can’t do that; which is why I’m asking you to.#also: a bunch of tags are surprised this isn’t ‘shopped#it’s the lighting. backlit by the sun (which is diffused through the water) but also forelit artificially#the artificial light - a flash pack or something - casts a hard shadow under the creatures arm#which normally wouldn’t be possible if backlit by the SUN; you’d see a less-hard/more-fragmented shadow above water#as light sources ‘compete’ in a sense - and since there aren’t any light sources which can outshine the literal sun#it looks a bit weird when the darkest shadow is being cast from any other origin point - which is what’s essentially happening here#I don’t know the mechanics of how light travels through water; but I know the effect is substantial even with relatively short distances#also: it’s been balanced and color corrected by the author of the photo - who made deliberate choices to bring out the full potential#so it’s not like it’s a fresh and untouched export#but the kind of ‘tacked on’ appearance of the creature is a result of the lighting conditions within the image

The All-Caste are the super secret underground group of magical combatants that Jason trained with to get the All-Blades, their main goal is to stop the Untitled which are demon-like entities that the All-Blades explicitly combat, although because they can only summoned in the presence of pure evil, it's assumed that any evil magic or demon is free game. Ducra, the All-Mother, is the one in charge and there's a super old prophecy that someone would come to take her place, which ended up being Jason. Lending him the title of Last Son of the All-Caste after the Acres of All were destroyed.
Thinking about the newer bats (Duke, Cass, Steph, Tim) speculating on Jason's age because he looks like a recently divorced 30 y/o but he's younger than Dick, and he acts like a 50 year old man (he still has a Nokia, out of the loop on Internet and pop culture, primarily listens to dad rock), and after they've exhausted all their guesses Dick breezes in, informs them he's like 24, and then leaves.
The bats then have to come to terms with the fact that Jason NINETEEN when he took over the criminal underground.
