There's something that's bothering me about Alastor
I noticed something about Alastor's magic.
So Alastor's magic has either a red or green color at any given time.
Usually, it's green.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, occasionally, it is red.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's always red in flashbacks, and the two other times it appears red, Alastor is being intentionally threatening. It also may correlate to his shadow being active.
Tumblr media
My concern with the green comes, partially, from this.
Tumblr media
The bright green of his magic is the same as those stitching his mouth and arm. (Also now I'm worried his arm was ripped off at some point)
This could entirely be a stylistic choice, but if his magic only started being mainly green recently, maybe it has something to do with his deal.
Alastor's mouth being sewn shut and could mean he can't talk about his deal, or otherwise relate to being forced to smile.
I also think this because the spooky ghosty motif is also green, and might be representative of souls, in regards to Alastor at least, considering this:
Tumblr media
and that Husk's leash is green too.
Tumblr media
He also repeatedly rejects offers of collecting souls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rosie: Ya know, Alastor. I got a primo connect on a guy with about eight blocks of territory and not enough goons to run it. Prime pickins for a deal to be made, my friend. Alastor: Appreciate the offer, but we're here on business of another kind.
Gaining souls is how Sinners get stronger it seems. And we know he's not opposed to collecting souls as he already owns Husk and Niffty. So part of his deal could stipulate that he can't collect more souls for one reason or another.
What had me thinking, and what really worries me, is this.
Tumblr media
The shield he makes in The Show Must Go On sticks out to me. Because the base of it is shadows, and there's that eye motif that is likely indicative of Roo. All of that is black outlined in red. But the veves are all outlined green, and there's this green mist near the base of the dome. Why are the symbols green but the eyes and other crack-like shadows aren't?
I think it might be possible that Alastor had a deal of some sort with Roo almost as soon as he got to Hell. But more recently, he has a new deal, one that limits him in some way, and likely one that forced him to the Hotel if Roo herself didn't order him to. And it's likely got something to do with Lilith, given their absences of the past seven years coinciding and then Alastor returning and going straight to Lilith's daughter.
Whatever this deal is, it limits his abilities. His figurative wings are clipped.
But this raises more questions for me. If he made some sort of deal with Roo or another entity for power, but he still owned his soul, what did he trade in the first place?
If he had so much power already, what would he have to gain from a deal that limits his strength and growth so much, especially at the cost of his own freedom? His own soul?
Who is this new contract with? Roo? Lilith? Eve? And why?
That also leads me to question, are he and Lilith allies or enemies?
Can your soul be owned between multiple parties if they make a deal with each other? Like, if Roo owned his soul and made a deal with Lilith to effectively share ownership, would that work? And what would that mean for them?
And, quite frankly, why Alastor? Was it convenience? Was it his connection to Roo?
This is in conjunction with something I noticed about those eyes that are all over Pride.
They don't appear naturally in any other Rings. (<- explanation under the cut now) And the motif only happens in two places.
There's Loo Loo Land in the Greed Ring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which, I'll remind you, is apparently a knock-off of a theme park Lucifer made, Lucifer's domain being Pride where these eyes are naturally occurring. Meaning the eye motif is probably just more mimicry. Especially since they aren't even red.
And then there's one room in Millie's family's house in Wrath.
Tumblr media
It's obviously just a design, since none of them move and they look pretty flat, but that stylistic motif is present. The wide red eyes and black shadow tendrils.
And it reminded me of something.
Tumblr media
Martha: Satan! We return your FILTHY creatures back to the pits of Hell! May the Root of Evil remain honored as we continue thy work!
If you look around during these scenes, you see a lot of eye imagery, both carved into the pole and scattered about the trees. And then on the top of the pole is Roo's emblem.
Tumblr media
So, like, there's some kind of human cult around the Root of All Evil. Enough that the emblem is known.
Martha specifies Satan, who is the Sin of Wrath, where Imps originate. Wrath is the only place there's imagery outside of Pride and Pride-adjacent areas (Loo Loo Land being a knock-off would be just replicating)
So, like...does Wrath or Satan have some kind of connection to Roo??? I mean, Lucifer and Satan are often mushed into one character but are separate here, so maybe it's just human error? Or maybe Roo has some kind of connection with Satan but her influence doesn't extend beyond Pride? I saw somewhere that Imps tend to treat Satan like a god (and they say shit like "oh my Satan" instead of "oh my god") but do they also worship Roo maybe? Or does Satan somehow serve her?
And one of the few places in Pride free of Roo's eyes (to my knowledge at least) is Cannibal Town.
Where everyone's eyes are black voids.
Tumblr media
Idk I'm tired and Alastor's whole deal has my head spinning in circles if I'm honest. And I needed to get it out somewhere.
EDIT WITH MINOR THE FULL MOON SPOILERS BECAUSE FUCK ME
I STAND GODDAMN CORRECTED ROO IS ACTIVE IN THE FUCKING LUST RING
Tumblr media
I COULDN'T WAIT LIKE TWO FUCKING DAYS GOD FUCKING DAMMIT
WHEN THE FUCK DID THOSE EYES GET THERE?!
Did the DHORKs testing their portal give her an in to other Rings? cuz it also looked like she was fucking them up.
Tumblr media
Which, btw, fucking YIKES

Hazbin Hotel AU where Lilith was Alastor's contract holder, but she's actually dead now. And while normally a sinner's death would render a contract null and void, the fact that she had a daughter meant that in the wake of her death Alastor's contract was automatically transferred over to Charlie — completely unbeknownst to her.
The real reason Alastor approached Charlie is because Lilith had died and he was looking for an opportunity to somehow get Charlie to release him from the contract — without her finding out about it.
Sure, he could just tell her about it and ask her upfront to release him and maybe she'd say yes, but...
Alas, Alastor is a paranoid sonuvabitch and there's no way in hell (ha) that he'd ever willingly admit to it, not without some sort of security net in place.
So, no. He's gotta find some way to get Charlie to unknowingly free him. And that's where that little incredibly vague favor comes in—!
Wouldn't you say it was weird how quickly Alastor agreed to Charlie's do-no-harm terms? He didn't hesitate, not even for a second, didn't even take a moment to think about it. Why? Because he already knew what "favor" he was going to ask of her and, knowing that it didn't involve harming anyone in the slightest, he was able to immediately agree.
He didn't hesitate to consider it because he didn't have to, not when he already knew what he was going to ask of her.
And what favor is he going to ask for? For her to free him, of course! And why hasn't he already? Well, that's a bit harder to explain...
Perhaps the prideful Mister "I'm going to hide away in my Radio Tower like a dying cat after nearly being slaughtered instead of doing the rational, sensible thing and seeking medical help, preferably from my friends and allies" would rather avoid anyone finding out he'd ever signed his soul away at all, even if it meant that it would take longer for him to be freed.
Perhaps he'd rather first figure out how to get Charlie to free him without her realizing what she was doing.
Or perhaps he wasn't even sure yet how she would be able to go about freeing him, especially considering that this is Charlie we're talking about here, not Lilith, the original contract holder, so the circumstances to do so might be different...
Or, no, wait—!
Perhaps he needs access to the actual contract in order to be freed. And, Charlie? She has no idea where it is. And as for Alastor, he is either clueless as well or he does know where it is, he just doesn't know how to access it — yet.
Perhaps he's saving up for two favors — one to have Charlie obtain the contract for him, and one to have her break it.
Either way, the only way he's getting out of this situation is with Charlie's help — hence his sudden reappearance and highly suspicious interest in her and her budding "Happy Hotel."
.
.
.
TL;DR: Lilith died and passed her contract with Alastor onto her daughter — who still has no idea this happened — and now Alastor has to somehow trick Charlie into freeing him without her finding out about it. Luckily, she just opened up this pathetic little hotel and is likely desperate for help... It's the perfect in.

What's up with Alastor and Husk? Hazbin Hotel Theory (More like questions)
So I was re-watching Hazbin Hotel and got a few questions. So we all know that Alastor is a narcissistic, self-centered, sarcastic person that enjoys looking down on others. But we also know that he HATES being in the “shadows” of other people. He hates it when Carmilla says she doesn’t care he is back (episode 3), he hates Lucifer as soon as he lays his eyes on him (Lucifer is the king of hell, leagues above Alastor) (episode 5), and most of all, he hates being on someone’s leash. He despises being put in this position so much, he threatens to kill Husk were he to make such a remark ever again. (episode 5) And this last part got me thinking.
Considering his reaction, we can safely conclude, that Alastor is faaar from being ok with someone controlling him. The mere mention of this fact triggers an outburst of rage and cruelty. He also desperately tries to find “a backdoor to the constraints of the deal” (musical mental breakdown, episode 8). So if this is the case, he would never willingly tell anyone about it. So why does Husk know this in the first place? Alastor himself would never tell him, if only for his own prideful nature, his ego would never allow him to share such an information. Plus, he owns Husk. It’s not like Husk is his equal. So how did this happen? Was Husk there when the deal was struck?
To further add to my notice, in episode 5, when Husk talks about Alastor being gone, he hesitates a bit at the start, something he never does with anyone. In the earlier episodes, he openly curses in front of Alastor and does not care two pence about his reaction. In episode one, he loudly complains about being forced to play bartender with Alastor in the room. Throughout the series, he constantly stays in a foul mood and does not even try to make an actual effort, just does what he is told to.  Here, however, he takes a breath before talking, almost like he understands it’s a delicate matter. Then, when he mentions “it’s not like anyone knows why” his tone sounds like HE knows. So here is my first question: how and why does Husk know about Alastor’s deal and his absence period?
Secondly, once again taking Alastor’s disdain of being on a leash into consideration, how is Husk still alive? Killing him at this point in the story is a no go, that would arise questions from everyone and would risk Charlie’s anger and possible exclusion of Alastor from the hotel and its business. I am talking about the period before Alastor came to the hotel. Even if his deal (according to some popular theories) obliged him to go straight to the hotel after his return, there was no need to pull Husk into this equation. He could have summoned any other minion as a bartender and then been on his merry way to kill Husk. And sure, I’ve seen people say, why would he kill Husk when he already owns his soul and has him frightened? Well, the thing is, Husk isn’t exactly forbidden from talking about the deal from what we’ve seen (he openly mentions the leash in front of Alastor), so what if, one day, he said "screw it" and, one way or another, shared the details of the deal with someone like Vox? And even if he couldn’t do that, wouldn’t it be safer to erase the only known person that has the information about the leash Alastor so despises? Would losing one soul not be better than the potential threat to the deal’s secrecy? Especially, when the said person absolutely HATES Alastor’s guts? Could there be a deeper connection to these two than just a slave and an owner? Maybe they knew each other when they were alive? Both lived sometime during the 1900-1930s.
In conclusion, I present two questions: why and how does Husk know about Alastor’s deal and why is he not dead yet?

Been thinking a lot about the whole "Alastor redemption arc" as a possibility for Hazbin seasons future (2 or onwards, this has the potential to be a several-season narrative). I think, in order for Alastor to really change in character for the better (intentional or not) he has to completely fall apart first. Whatever corner he's been backed into by his deal will probably make him more and more desperate to do absolutely anything and use everyone he knows however he feels he needs to to free himself. And I mean ANYTHING - this guy is not only a psychopathic cannibalistic demon serial killer, but also a soul-owning overlord with serious control issues. He could go on a pretty dark spiral to feel like he's staying in control when he's really losing all semblance of it - especially when he considers himself an unredeemable villain, and he's proud of it (it makes him untouchable, or at least feel that way).
Bridges are going to get burned with the main cast, and he might destroy just about every good relationship he's built. But this is Hell, and if he's in a soul contract with either of the people who we all suspect, it's not going to go well for him, and he's going to hit rock-bottom when he realizes he no longer has any control AND no one to turn to.
But that's where Charlie comes in.
Yeah, she's going to be mad. The betrayal will sting, especially when you can see just how much she wants to see the good in Alastor. And I can't imagine we won't make it through Alastor's downfall arc without him cashing in his favor in some twisted way - even if it doesn't hurt anyone else, it'll hurt Charlie. She won't want to forgive him, and she'll distance herself dramatically, likely just enough for Alastor to go and get himself into trouble.
But Charlie (and her crew) has that unfortunate all-forgiving, all-accepting streak that gets her into trouble so often... when it really matters, she'll do whatever she can to save him because that's how she is. And because Alastor is Alastor, that might be finally enough to get through to him - somebody helping him out of a situation that he would have abandoned anyone else in, assuming that they'd leave him without a care because he betrayed them (because that's what he would do). And yet here she is, stubborn demon child, back to save him for what reason?? Out of the goodness her heart?? No one in hell does things like that. It's HELL.
Ridiculous. Impossible.
Or maybe not, because here she is.
((Bonus brainrot: I can also see like a reverse Stockholm lol (getting close to people to use them and then WHOOPS accidentally getting close to them for real). He already admitted some level of fondness (which, for Alastor, is saying something) to Niffty in that last balcony scene, probably because he views her like Pentious's egg boys - someone small and insignificant to everyone (at least pre-Adam stabbing lol) who spews crazy things all the time. He can tell her things because it doesn't matter if she repeats them; everyone takes what she says with a grain of salt.)

So Hazbin Hotel just finished its first season, and first of all, wow. Only eight episodes but they did a great job. Excited for season 2.
But I cannot stop thinking about Alastor's deal.
We know that Alastor disappeared seven years ago, same time as Lliith. We know that he is helping Charlie of his own volition if the pilot is still canon, which as far as I can tell it is. And we know that from his lines in Ready For This speaking to Rosie, he's trying to groom Charlie into the next Queen of Hell.
And from episode 8, we know that he is _desperate_ for his freedom, because some part of his deal makes him distraught.
Now I could go into the fact he says that a smile helps in both the pilot _and_ episode 7 when talking to Charlie, which makes me think that there's some horrible condition to the deal he's made which causes him to hide his horror behind a smile at all times. But I'll ignore that for now because it's wild speculation as to what the details of the deal are.
However, examining solely his actions and the lore, I think that Alastor is helping Charlie because his deal was made with Llitih, but she made the deal on the authority of Queen of Hell or something similar. Basically, whoever is Queen of Hell controls Alastor's deal.
So he wants to guide Charlie, make her queen, and then call in his favour. Not to hurt anyone, but just to set him free.
Although I'm sure that the exact conditions of his deal will mean that Charlie will be horriified or really against freeing him, and it's going to cause _drama_

Alastor vs Lilith
Hazbin Hotel theory time! AKA, I, TyrantChimera, am jumping on the Alastor theory bandwagon. Yup. Why not. Anyways... time for the actual proposition:
Alastor and Lilith don't have a deal for power. Alastor is hunting Lilith. Alastor's true power-deal is with Roo, and Lilith fled to heaven to escape him.
Tumblr media
...Obviously this is going to require a lot of explanation. Alastor is hunting the Queen of Hell herself? What kind of bollocks is that? And who the fuck is Roo?? All valid questions, so here I go explaining them. I'll try to focus on just presenting facts at first, and then I'll attempt to connect them later.
Just one thing... I ended up going way too in depth with my 'evidence,' so I've put a summarized version of the theory below. You can read the entire thing here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AzsbVr1SvJCpV-2T1Utjwt2GG9K47rvsVwogVQYmYo4/edit?usp=sharing
My theory summary reads as follows:
Alastor and Lilith were both gone for seven years at the start of this show. We know that Alastor was hunting for prominent people from the get-go. Alastor is power-hungry, even admitting/explaining to Adam that there is a way for a mortal soul to attain great strength, and he himself gains strength through deals. But Alastor is tied to a deal that restricts what he can do. We know he is determined to upset the status quo, whether for his own entertainment or because it’s a part of his deal with “Roo” or some other powerful, ultimate-evil figure. It’s plausible that hunting down Lilith was the next part of his plan. But Lilith's disappearance possibly stymied that. She went to Heaven, completely cutting off all connections to Hell.
For a while Alastor was apparently awash in a sea of uncertainty and/or a lack of inspiration, yet still doing something serious enough during his seven year absence that he is paranoid about people figuring out what he was doing. He makes absolutely sure no one knows what that disappearance entailed. And then everything changes when Charlie makes a public appearance.
From the moment he spots Charlie, Alastor is determined to use her. He wants to get a deal out of her and even helps her with the hotel, which he views as frivolous, in order to gain her favor and rope her into a deal. He succeeds too. But despite his best efforts his powers are still being held back. We know his next goal is to “unclip his wings,” to escape the dangerous constraints of a deal that is almost certainly restricting the powers he can use, the people he can target, and his ability to make deals for souls. This is exhibited by his Modus Operandi since arriving in Hell being very different from his current methodology.
Therefore, it makes sense to me that Alastor is hunting Lilith. He's been aiming for the big leagues from the moment he dropped into Hell, and being unable to merc her has had implications for him.
Tumblr media
If I made too many leaps here, you'll have to look up the full theory at the google docs link I provided. There's a lot of pretty pictures there too, so don't worry too much about text-y monotony!

Ok, hear me out (angst, bc of course)
I've been having these thoughts bounce around my head for about a week and I finally decided to post them. I don't know who's going to see this, but whoever sees it needed to. I guess this is for an AU rather than a headcanon, but whatever, just hear me out. I was inspired by The Owl House, specifically Hunter, so maybe that will spark some interest. This is about to be a rant, so I'll go ahead and add the read more thing
Okay, now that I have your attention, time for angst.
SO, in The Owl House, we learn in season 2 that (SPOILER ALERT) Hunter is a grimwalker (a clone of someone who died for those of you who don't know), and that before him, there were TONS of other grimwalkers that Belos murdered for "choosing to betray him" AKA realizing that Belos was an evil psychotic bitch. Also, that Hunter looked the most like Caleb (the dead guy he was cloned of) out of all the other grimwalkers, but he didn't KNOW that he was a grimwalker until a very angsty reveal by his abuser (Belos) who then immediately tried to murder his ass.
ANYWAYS, obviously, as the angst-lover I am, I think about this literally all the time. Then. I started thinking. I absolutely love Alastor, he's such a blorbo. And what do I do to my blorbos? I give them immeasurable amounts of trauma, c'mon, keep up.
What do we know about Alastor? Well, someone owns his soul. He disappeared for unknown reasons for seven years. He is INCREDIBLY anxious about whoever owns his soul - or at least the deal itself (as evidenced by his musical breakdown where he literally TEARS HIS OWN HAIR OUT FROM THE STRESS), and that he's probably going to use the deal with Charlie either for nefarious purposes, or to escape his deal.
Which brings us to the point of this post in the first place (kind of???? I might have just been mindlessly rambling there), and the start of my AU. I'm not going to pretend I know who owns Alastor's soul, but I really vibe with the idea of it being either Lilith or Roo, so that's who I'll be thinking of for the majority of this post. What if the person who owns his soul made a deal with him when he first got to hell (or it could be one of those versions where someone sold his soul before he was even born [a sort of "I want your first-born kinda deal] and they let him know when he got to hell which is how he got all his power so quickly), but he managed to either tick them off or get really close to escaping the deal, which lead to them killing Alastor.
Then, the contract-owner realizes, "Oh shit, I kind of need him," and finds out how to make whatever the hell equivalent of a grimwalker is. Thus, Alastor 2.0 is born. However, they can't have him knowing he's a clone - he might find a loophole in the deal that way. So they find a way to control which memories he has. They replace all of the memories the OG Alastor had up until whatever it was he did to get killed in the first place - don't want him getting any ideas after all.
This works fine for the contract-holder for a while, but then Alastor is back on the same shit - trying to find loopholes, backdoors, ticking them off, whatever, and oops, there goes another one. Well shit. Guess it's time to make another clone. So, the process is repeated, and the song and dance continues. However, it always concludes the same way - with Alastor's inevitable "betrayal". Also, none of the clones ever seem to look quite right - sometimes the eye color is wrong, or the height, the cheekbones, or the nose shape - whatever it is, something is always off
So, after many failed attempts, they decide to take a different approach. When they make the new clone, they give them the same memories, everything is the same as the previous attempts, except they don't turn him loose right away. Instead, they keep him under their thumb for seven years - really just until there was something they needed him for. Those seven years were spent conditioning him. They were determined to make him perfect. After all, this clone was the one that looked the most like the original Alastor, there was no way they would let him go like the others.
In his time at their side, Alastor endured unspeakable cruelties - beatings, torture, extreme sensory deprivation, emotional manipulation, sleep deprivation, total isolation - you name it, it was almost certainly done during that time. This is also when his smile was sewn on because the contract holder wanted him to smile more, and used his defense mechanism to torture him (smiled to hide weakness, forced to smile against his will, making the smile itself a constant reminder of how powerless he really is). There was rarely an action Alastor did that provoked his contract holder, but that didn't matter. They convinced him that each "punishment" was earned, that they were simply trying to help him see his own shortcomings and failures, and to make him better. Obviously, this is complete bullshit. However, when you live like that long enough, with no other influences, you become conditioned to believe it.
Eventually, for whatever reason, the contract holder released Alastor on strict orders to go to Charlie's hotel, and Alastor is doing exactly what they told him because he's terrified of the idea of being summoned back to their side. He hates his contract holder, but at the same time craves their approval, because if they're happy with him, then he won't be in pain. However, Alastor has to Alastor, and once he's on his own, he starts looking for ways to escape his deal - but he's sneaky about it. Years of constant conditioning made him cautious. He has no memory of ever searching for loopholes before - a least not successfully (bc the contract holder doesn't let the clones remember those things), so he does the best thing he can think of: he makes a deal with the Princess of Hell herself.
I'm definitely going to make another post about this, probably detailing the reveal. Not right now though because I have homework to do, and this is getting to ungodly lengths
(if you want to see the next part when I post it, keep an eye on the '#grimwalker alastor au' tag. I might just make this a whole thing if anyone is interested. I'll make it a whole thing anyways because I feel like it and deep down I post for myself, but if you're interested, I highly encourage you to ask about it [I don't bite!!])

I dont really pay attention to the theory side of hazbin hotel fandom, but i had a thought on what alastor's deal might be so im throwing my hat in the ring (also feel free to call the theory dumb again, not a theory person)
This is focusing more on the terms, because a lot of people are convinced that the deal either limits Alastor's power or strengthens it, but deals in hazbin hotel don't seem to work that way. All of the deals we have seen terms for have tangible limits or effects. Valentino only has full control over Angel in the studio, Husk lost his title and presumably the souls he owned as an overlord. A flat boost or debuff to Alastor doesn't fit, the terms would have to be more tangible. So what if the terms made it so Alastor can't kill overlords.
Mimzy mentioned that Alastor hasn't killed any overlords recently or done anything like it, it would be a tangible limit on his power, and would be a big enough disadvantage for Al to be desperate to break off the deal despite whatever advantage it might have given him. Also to get meta, writing wise it would give Alastor issues in dealing with the Vees in season two, and even explain the deal he made with Vaggie, to give a plausible explanation to him not dealing with them in universe.
Tbh i dont have that much evidence, but i think its a fun theory that fits with my personal thoughts on the deal.

Been thinking about the mechanics of Alastor's deal and I think it's probably something of a "would you kindly" situation like Bioshock. I think he's bound to assist with any requests in the hotel and protect it specifically.
Points towards this idea
Alastor actually makes a TV commercial despite resenting television, and says Charlie or Vaggie (probably Vaggie) insisted on it
When asked for a camera he's a bit petty and provides a film camera first, only giving the video camera when specifically asked for it
Vaggie tells him he has to make an actual functional commercial. He immediately makes a deal that he won't be asked to interact with TV again, so long as he follows through. Why would he do this if he could just say no to something he clearly resents?
Only takes steps to fix the wall Pentious blew up after he's asked to
(Worth noting Charlie didn't ask him to stop attacking Pentious, only lightly implied she wanted him to stop)
Vaggie tells him to get rid of the egg bois (my beloveds) humanely, and he listens. Dude could have absolutely just killed them where no one could see the second he was out of sight of the hotel
In Dad Beat Dad he says "he's happy to fulfill her bizarre requests." That phrasing feels very deliberate to me
When he's telling Mimzy to leave his reasoning is that she brought danger to the hotel, and he couldn't have that there. Again, the phrasing feels very specific considering her dumping trouble on him seems like a regular pattern between the two. He's fond of her, and him using the opportunity to go over the top on small fry when they attack could be him taking advantage of the chance to convey she's under his protection again. (Although I do think a part of it was also him wanting to lash out after Husk pissed him off with the leash comment)
If Mimzy's a threat to the hotel, demanding she leave could be interpreted as indirectly protecting her from himself if he's bound to defend the hotel from active threats
Alastor himself points out that him sticking around to defend the hotel is out of character during his little post-battle mental breakdown in his radio tower
Everyone joked about him showing up after the hotel was rebuilt and avoiding all the labor, but if his deal binds him to the hotel it was probably deliberate. Can't be asked to do anything if you're not there, and can't be required to be there if there technically isn't a hotel
Those are all my points for after a recent rewatch. I'd be interested to hear additional proof or rebuttals if anyone has them!

"Just because you see a smile, don't think you know what's hidden underneath."
Tumblr media
I one hundred percent believe that Alastor is not smiling all the time willingly and that those glowing green stitches are a visible representation of the part of his deal that forces his face to stay that way.
"Stitches like that wouldn't actually hold his face in a smile—" I don't care. This is literally magic, it doesn't have to make sense. It's a spell, the threads are probably charmed to hold his smile in place.
And don't forget: we now have canon confirmation that he maintains his smile even when he's completely, absolutely 100% alone—even when he's literally in the midst a breakdown.
Tumblr media
Side-note: is it just me, or does it look a bit like he might actually be grabbing at about where his highest stitches may-or-may-not be holding his smile up in this one scene...?
Tumblr media
...this very same scene where he just so happens to be talking about his deal—!!
"The constraints of my deal surely have a backdoor..."
Coincidence? I think not.

I'm rewatching rn now and HOLY SHIT you're so right
did anybody else notice that in almost every scene that Alastor is in or leading in, eyes seem to follow him? -> and not just in the "it's the radio demon, oh my gosh!" sense
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i mean the design literally follows him. this isn’t even half of the eyes that i found in his first half scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they also move to stay on him, they're on his radio tower items:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and they’re on Carmilla’s meeting furniture for some reason?? -> Alastor get shifty eyed when Zestiel questions where he's been; almost as if someone is going to jump out at him if he says too much
Tumblr media Tumblr media
during his deal with Charlie he specifically covers the eye in her window first and stands in a corner where the eyes engraved on her pillars are less present
Is Alastor being watched by someone? Or- considering the eye also located on his microphone- is someone monitoring how he uses his borrowed powers, monitoring how much he shares with Charlie?
If so, who is it? clearly not Lucifer, and it can't be Vox because the designs aren't electronic -> Heaven clearly uses the organic eyes growing in the buildings and wreckage to watch the sinners
but why do the carvings seem to follow Alastor?

if there's one thing this last episode has affirmed for me about Alastor it's that he FUCKING HATES being reminded that he's not the most powerful creature in hell.
Like, he hates being ignored by Carmilla when she says she doesn't care why he was gone
He hates Lucifer ON SIGHT
He threatens to KILL Husk when he dares to mention that Alastor is working for someone more powerful than him
and now this.
Tumblr media
Alastor freaking out because he almost died. Something almost killed him. He can fucking die. There is something more powerful than him out there. And it's not something he can ignore or brush off because it almost killed him.
Alastor hates the reminder that he's not as powerful as he tells people he is. He isn't indestructible, he isn't invincible. And he fucking hates that.
