#AND BRIENNE LOVES SO EASILY SHE LOVES HIM TOO

Note
i personally disagree. i think this is oversimplifying these characters a bit and reducing their complexity to a single line (as important as that line may be when it comes to characterization). i think all lannister siblings have a very complicated relationship to love. and while i do believe cersei prioritizes power, i dont take her at face value and believe she “doesnt care.” imo she is trying to emulate tywin’s dogma regarding love that she overheard him telling an 8 year old jaime, especially because she despises weakness/vulnerability within herself particularly strongly due to how she is perceived because of her gender. to me all three come off as desperate for love in some shape or form, be it from the self or from others (both more like), especially because of being denied it in important ways as a result of having tywin lannister as their parent, among other things.
Is jealousy-envy a common feature of all three Lannister siblings?
I don't think so. If we're talking deadly sins:
"And [Cersei] is greedy. Greedy for power, for honor, for love." Tyrion on Cersei, Tyrion VI, ADWD
The quote above there is as true of Tyrion as it is of Cersei. Who have far more in common with each other than either does with Jaime. Jaime, who could have any of these things if he put the slightest bit of effort into obtaining them, instead comes to realise it's a different sort of honour he craves - the knightly sort, not mere recognition. (Which is not mere at all to Cersei and Tyrion, who struggle to get shit because of assigned sex and disability respectively.)
All three Lannister siblings desperately want for things that money can't buy them. Other people have those things, but for each I think it's the wanting more than the "other people have it!" that defines them. So greed, not envy.
#i also agree with op re jaime and the kind of honor he actually truly seeks#though i dont think love is easily attainable for jaime either tbh#be it love from the self or genuine love from others#like ‘the things i do for love’ is a thesis for a reason imo#same with him asking genna ‘did u love him’#and the whole honor and glory played their parts but most of it had been for cersei (love)#and like there are many reasons the jc relationship exists cersei gets love out of that too#theres a reason she only enjoys it with jaime like its a desperate need for love from the self that can exist thru this twisted narcissistic#relationship#i also dont know if i can even isolate these concepts like cersei wants respect and power so she can love herself also#so i think the line very strongly applies to cersei and tyrion both#to clarify im not disagreeing with their deepest desire necessarily#tho with jaime i dont think being referred to as ghtj would actually make him happy without a true sense of internal honor to match#hence he is willing to use something like the trebuchet threat to ensure keeping an oath to a dead woman#an oath no one would know about (other than brienne) if he wasnt open about it#so ig i just view deepest desire as more complicated#and it being more about jaime being able to view himself in a certain way more so than others viewing him a certain way#idk ig i kinda interpret it as all three of them desiring love from the self the most and thinking they can only achieve it thru#>true power >true honor >true love from others

THE WAY I RAN HERE WHEN I SAW THE PROMPTS LIST
23 please Ilu
ilu!!
23. "Will you be my New Years kiss?"
Age 9.
"Ew, no." Brienne says, pushing Jaime away.
"Why not? I don't have cooties."
"Because that stuff is for grown-ups," she tells him with all the ancient, weary burden of wisdom that a nine-year old can muster. Especially when he's two years older than her and he should know this already.
Jaime frowns and kicks a snowpack in her front yard from where her dad has shoveled the walk. "I know that," he sneers, turning his back on her and sauntering away. "I didn't mean it anyway, Smartypants."
She throws a snowball at his retreating form, but it falls just shy, plopping uselessly to the ground at his heels. Stupid Jaime, she thinks. Nothing ever touches him.
Age 15.
"You're drunk," Brienne tells him when he asks. "And I'm working on New Year's Eve remember?"
"You're too young to work, Smarty" he slurs.
"You're too young to drink," she snaps back.
"Blow it off and be with me instead." Jaime leans into her space and the aroma of some hard liquor she's sure she's never tried envelops her like a cloud. His eyes are red-rimmed and bleary and it looks like he hasn't changed his clothes in three days and he's still so handsome it hurts inside her chest just to look at him.
And she loves him enough that she considers doing what he'd said. But he always gets like this when he and Cersei have broken up and she has to know something first. "Why are you asking me?"
"Everyone else is busy and I don't like to be alone." He pouts his lower lip out, she thinks to try to make himself more appealing, but she feels the walls rolling down over her heart like a garage door closing.
"Then get a dog," she says and shuts the door in his face.
Age 21.
"Me?" Jaime looks around like they're not the only two people out on this balcony.
It's taken everything she has to ask him and it's hard not to shove him over the railing into the sea crashing below at his answer. Casterly Rock is very high up, if she's lucky he'd hit a few rocks on the way down.
"Forget it," she mutters, turning on her heel in an act of fierce willpower, but he grabs her hand before she can get more than a step and she stops.
"Brienne." His voice rolls low over her like a wave and she shivers, hoping he'll think it's the sea wind. "I meant to say: why me?"
Because I've been in love with you since we were kids feels like a lot to drop at his feet. "Because I've never had a New Year's Eve kiss and you keep asking so I thought you'd be fine with it," she tells him. She's never had any kiss but she's not going to tell him that. Constrained truth is the better choice here.
Jaime tilts his head slightly, like he's processing some new information. "So you're just humoring me?"
"Like I said: forget it." She twists her wrist and easily escapes from his grip. "I'll find someone else."
"I don't want you to find someone else." The forceful whip of his tone is more effective at stopping her than his hand had been.
Brienne glances back at him, at the way his body is tense in his perfectly tailored tux, at the grip of his hand on the balcony railing, the knuckles going white from the force of it.
"I want you to find me," he says roughly. He releases the railing and steps towards her and she has the distinct feeling of teetering on the edge of this very high cliff. "I want you to want to find me."
"Why?" she whispers. It could just be stupid masculine pride making him say that and she needs to know.
He shakes his head a little with a fond smile. "I thought you were the smart one here." Jaime's fingers brush lightly down the bare skin of her arm and it's impossible to hide the goosebumps that follow. "Why do you think I kept asking you?"
"Because I was there."
He frowns and he slides his hand around the back of her neck, looking up at her with a seriousness she's not used to from him. "I asked because I love you."
Her heart thuds in time to the countdown shouts filtering out from inside.
"Like a sister?" she squeaks and his laughter lights up the air like fireworks.
"Gods, I sincerely hope not," he murmurs, rising up to kiss her as the clock strikes midnight.

Sansa's arc makes me so happy. I've never gone from disliking a character so much to loving one so much from start to finish.
But my favorite thing is that she just... gives up giving a shit about being a lady and saying the proper things. The way she sees Littlefinger and almost always is just like "ugh. What do you want now?"
And he just... still thinks he's manipulating her. Like he sees that she can play people like a fiddle in the Vale but he STILL fucking thinks she's just this kid to be messed with.
And she plays him like a fiddle too. The way she tells Brienne "i know exactly what he wants."And then Arya shows up and they BOTH fucking play him. Like... its so fucking GOOD.
He thinks he's tearing these girls apart, girls who have been through so fucking much. Who are so mentally and physically different from where they started.
Sisters who never thought they'd ever see each other again. Who hated each other at one point or another. But never ever stopped hoping to see their family again.
He really thought he could get between them. And these girls fucking turned his own shit around on him so so easily.
Sansa always thought Arya was odd. And she came back a bonified assassin. And she's a bit irked by that, but it fits. It looks RIGHT on her sister.
And i imagine they talked about it. Betraying him and killing him. And i just imagine Arya telling Sansa that she'd do it. She'd kill him for her easy.
But Sansa wants to see his fucking face when he realizes that he's been had. That she knows what he is, really knows, and that she will have justice for all he's done to her family. She will have her revenge.
And her revenge walks up behind him, Arya Stark, the girl that's not a girl, but a sword, and cuts his throat.
This man really thought he was gonna manipulate another generation of Starks into death. And Arya, did as she was taught, all those years ago, by her "dancing master". She and her sister looked at the god of death and said, "not today. Not for us."
Like this show has so many issues but these girls and their story are so fucking GOOD.

Live reactions of me watching Episode 5 under the cut. As you will notice, I'm easily impressed and turn into that Leo Dicaprio pointing gif every time a character I like is mentioned.
I love the "It's just meat" line from Ulf. It's great set-up for what's to come and how this whole war will hurt every Targaryen's legitimacy.
Hate the "Rhaenyra will answer for this" line from someone else. No one should be speaking treason that loudly so close to the Kingsguard.
They're peeling him! Love it.
"What would have me do?" Rhaenyra and Aegon both asking the question shows they're both puppets in the end. Neither have the strength and training to be a monarch.
YO CREGAN STARK MENTIONED! WINTER PREPPERS WE STAY WINNING!
Jace flying to Daemon makes sense. Him flying to the Twins instead because....it's too dangerous to go to Harrenhal????? Makes no sense.
YO BLACKWOOD-BRACKEN FEUD MENTIONED! RIVERCHADS WE STAY WINNING!
Daemon being like eeh, I guess you can torture our allies then. Hilarious.
Jeyne Arryn is reacting as she should.
"They betray their own smallness" is such a good line. Mizaya Suzuno is a treat every time she shows up on screen.
Rhaenyra not being taught "the difference between hilt and foible" makes no sense. If she was regular lady who had a very strict father, it would. But she had a rather permissive father who let her do pretty much as she pleased. If she wanted to, she could have learned as much as Arya or Brienne.
Baela finally having screentime? A minor miracle.
OH SO NOW THEY MENTION MELEYS IS THE FASTEST, HUH? (Again, I will keep saying that she could have and should have run away.)
Is that...Aemma??? OH NO IT'S ALYSSA.
How these scenes transition and cut seems more jarring than usual.
This "marital spat" lasting for four episodes seems unnecessary when the murder of a small child was forgotten in two.
Finally, calling out Aemond "for his lack of restraint." He should have been called out ever since he killed Luke.
Alicent makes a great point though. How can he be regent AND fight a war out there in the field???
Alicent having such strong emotions over being passed as regent.......why?
Why does Hugh get a family backstory added to his character and yet we've seen neither lick or hair of Nettles? Where is Nettles????
Costume department, please give Alicent more than two dresses.
YES FINALLY. THIS STORY IS ABOUT THE RIOTS. IT WILL BE THE SMALLFOLK THAT ULTIMATELY WIN THIS WAR AND KILL THE MOST DRAGONS
JASON LANNISTER MENTIONED! LANNATION WE STAY WINNING!
The Daemon will-he-won't-he-traitor is not fun to watch. It's been going on for too long and makes Rhaenyra's side of the war stagnant while the greens are making huge moves.
I don't remember Jace negotiating with the Freys in the book. Unlike in FaB, he was authorized by the queen to make the deals he did with Manderly, Arryn, and Stark. Here, he's completely rogue agent and any promises he makes to the Freys is....uh, questionable.
The purpose of this Frey negotiation scene perplexes me. My boy Jacaerys looks fabulous though. Keep serving, prince.
Alys saying "it's not war, it's a heinous crime" is...not my vibe. She exists in this society where they don't have the concept of humanely treating the enemy. What Daemon is doing to those who don't bend the knee is what is expected of a feudal warlord.
UUUUUUGH, Daemon going rogue agent is so self-sabotaging. This man is supposed to be a competent war veteran! He should know going alone is not the play. Aemond acting like this is believable because Aemond is a young man who's never seen war, but not Daemon.
At this point, Rhaenyra is taking as many Ls as Aegon, maybe even more. Why is everyone just standing around and talking at each other?! Your most important war asset died, where is the fire? Where is the urgency???
Why was Corlys not appointed the Hand from the very beginning?!
DID BAELA JUST REJECT HER INHERITANCE?? BULLSHIT. And she did it so casually too!!!! SHE HAS NO REASON TO DO IT. GIRL, INHERITING DRIFTMARK WOULD MAKE HER ONE THE RICHEST PEOPLE IN THE REALM WHAT IS GOING ON?
"I cannot send a raven for Daemon to disregard." Then why doesn't Rhaenyra go to Harrenhal????? She has a dragon, she can fly quicker than a random small councilman. What is going on with this war?
And now she just up and told a councilman who was already displeased with her and whose main reason for staying is his hatred of the Hightowers, "Oh yeah, Daemon might be raising his own faction. Anyways, you'll go to him and bring him back, won't you?" GIRL, DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO DEFECT?
And the message she sends to Daemon is so feckless. Do you think that will convince anyone to come back?!
HOUR OF THE WOLF MENTIONED. WOLFERINAS WE STAY WINNING.
"Works of barbarity." YOU'RE ALL FEUDAL WARLORDS. YOU ALL BURN FIELDS AND SACK CHURCHES. WTF IS THIS GENEVA CONVENTION BS
"I have seen a share of their fights—" Then you should know the Brackens and Blackwoods do this to each other all the time! They burn each other's sacred places and kill their children. This isn't new! That's why the Riverlands is so poor despite its lands being so rich—because the lords keep sacking and tearing at each other's lands!!!! ARGH THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING
Oh thank god, please let it be a dream. It's a dream. Because lords and ladies saying this and coming in the middle of the night make no sense.
Helaena's one line this episode goes hard.
"Well, it was a long time ago." You tell her, Jace.
"And yet, I must wait here." ...you don't have to. This is such a manufactured conflict, especially when Rhaenyra already showed she can come and go to King's Landing unharmed.
"I'm proud of you" she tell her son who made a deal behind her back and disobeyed her orders. And she wonders why people circumvent her authority? Girl, WIELD YOUR AUTHORITY DAMN.
VERMITHOR AND SILVERWING MENTIONED.
"Valyrian histories, written to gild us in glory." YOU TELL HER, JACE.
Jace should be going, "Look at me mother, do I look like a Valyrian dragonlord to you?" Bham! Much more impactful and goes back to his main character conflict.
ugh, this was such a slow and frustrating episode. Worst of the season so far. High points are more Jace screentime (I just like looking at the actor stand in his costume — so beautiful and princely), the Jeyne Arryn appearance, and setting up the eventual riots. Low points are everything else.

𝐈 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐲! Oh sweet Gendry, loyal and hardworking; you know you just won the game right?!? He WILL protect you in every single way. Adheres to your boundaries and never pushes you to do anything you don't want to do. But I honestly do think you would be such a wholesome couple.
𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒔:
I see you perfectly as a member of House Tully. It is quite underrated, but has such an important part in Westeros. I this as your House because to me, you are a lot like Catelyn. Fierce, passionate, intelligent, honorable and dutiful.
House Tully is one of the Great Houses of Westeros. Their lands are the central part of the continent. Their seat is Riverrun, a castle at the confluence of the Red Fork of the Trident with the Tumblestone. They rule over the Riverlands from the castle and the head of the house is the Lord of Riverrun.
𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓/𝑨𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚
There is a lot of magic in Westeros (fck the show for not delving into the actual FANTASY SIDE). But you are connected to many things, without knowing. Dreams, random prophecies - but one of the biggest things is that ravens flock to you. Like the photo above, you can ... talk to them and they know what you say. Over the years you built trust with them, and they may not seem like much of a threat - but hell, they have claws and beaks and will die for you.
𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔
Although Gendry came from humble beginnings, he's a very intelligent man. Yet, when he's around you his brain doesn't seem to work. Words are jumbled and once he actually tripped over and fell flat on his face.
That was the true start of your friendship and then romance. He makes you laugh, makes you blush - no other man has had that kind of influence over you.
Your favourite thing to do together is sit outside, looking at the stars together, you resting on his chest.
With Gendry, you don't have to shoulder responsibility. He never makes you feel burdened by anything either. If you have a problem, he wants to solve it for you.
You probably met when he was running away from Melisandre. Somehow he ended up in the Riverlands, and the Lord of Riverrun took him in (not out of kindness, but wanting his blacksmith skills)
It was stolen glances, not talking at first, but you were so curious about him. News spread quickly in the castle. It wasn't before long that he sat beside you at one of the larger community dinners.

Gendry loves how honest you are about your motives. There is no hidden agenda like other people (i.e. Melisandre, Cersei, Little Finger etc) with whom he's come across. You're trustworthy, as he is too. And because of that, he knows that he won't be led astray. He's safe. You make him feel safe...
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅
I think you and Sansa would be great friends. With similar situations as Gendry, Sansa experienced manipulation tenfold. So being around someone who is true to their word and promises, makes Sansa feel like she can truly open up. You would be only one of Sansa's best friends. Probably her only.
𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆
A mix between Brienne, Arya and Margaery. You have a lot of smarts, but will not risk your honor in to get what you want. People would look up to you for answers - for leadership in tough times.
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒕
A highly intelligent raven, who seems to know exactly what you're saying and what you ask of her. She's always near, hoavering above you, sitting on your shoulder etc. He's brilliant at taking messeges, fastest one in the realm. He can find anyone anywhere.

𝐈 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤! I think he's such a sweet boy though :') obvious yes he is one of England's greatest soldiers but I don't think he likes that to define him. With you, he's like some sort of prince charming - but the downside is that his work whisks him away.
𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒔:
Human Civilian. Knows nothing of the army's secrets or really how Kyle goes about his job.
𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓/𝑨𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 changed to > 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑴𝒆𝒕
You hadn't known who you were working for exactly. And it hardly mattered anyway, all you did was serve food and beverages to customers. It wasn't until there was a complete shut down, with everyone told to flee, until one of the owners took you as a human shield. Kyle helped you escape but you were hit in the arm. And took it upon himself to see over your recovery.
𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔
First and foremost, you will always be protected - no matter what. Yes ... maybe he has a tracker on your car, and always has 'find my phone' on so that he knows where you are. All these precautions, is because of his line of work. He will neVER let anything come to harm you.
Despite the harshness of this job, Kyle shows understanding and compassion towards you. Giving you so much care and attentativeness.
Loves banter between you two. Early on in the relationship he called you his wife and would introduce you as such to practically everyone.
If ever there was one, Kyle would be a supportive and protective boyfriend. Encouraging you to do that wish you wanted. If you didn't want to do something, he's the first to tell you that it's okay not to do it.
Gives you gifts on random occassion. A bracelet here, then a bouqeut of flowers four days later. When he comes back from work he gives you presents as well i.e., earrings, or tokens of where he's been.
Something that he has and the others do not - is very good communication. Especially when it comes to loved ones. With you, he knows how scary it can get with him away, so he finds ways in wish you never feel alone.

𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅
Soap and Ghost; whether you're in the Task Force or not, these two men see you as apart of the team anyway. You are important to them. Being with Kyle is like having three more body guards.
𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆
I think you're a mix of Farah, Price and Soap. Highly intelligent, (when people say they're the 'mum' of the group, that to me means you are the leader. Even if you don't make the decisions, you are the one that people will look to for guidance.)
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒕
Your boy is a lil gremlin; once on a date night, sitting by the edge of the road, a scruffy cat walked by and stopped right in front of you. He did not move, just sat there looking at you.
"Bloody weird cat," Kyle whispered.
The gremlin cat gave out a small noise, and it made you laugh. And that's when Kyle knew he had to take him back home with the two of you.

My favourite thing when anons want to stir trouble is that like, inevitably they have consistent misspelling habits which mean you know exactly who it is sending repeat asks. So unself-aware.
Anyway, I do think there is a balanced path between the text and what the author says. GRRM's comments about Sansa are about as light as they could come. I love when people want to ungenerously frame the debate as if she's tantamount to Tyrian or Daenerys, come on. Girl took a steak knife to see a drunken knight in the godswood. The most harm she's going to inflict is driving Jon crazy with the incest. I'm trying to be lighthearted here.
Anyway, Rouka, what's your opinion on author vs. text? How much is too much, relying on the former? On the other hand, with the Daenerys is a tragic hero fandom, there's a lot of outright twisting of the text. Does relying on the author's comments provide some clarity or just make the conversation harder, since one would want to reason based on the text? Thank you for your time and your graceful handling of us terrible anons 🥰
(The posts referenced: one and two)
(I'm chronically bad at recognizing these individuall spelling patterns. Unless they make it obvious, every anon is a newborn dawn to me.)
Hello and thank you!
For me, the actual text of the books should always be central when it comes to actually analyzing the books. (You know. Obviously.) Interviews can be nice, but should be absolutely optional to any of it. If you NEED an interview to support your position, you're not analyzing the text.
Perhaps I am biased because I can't be bothered to follow GRRM interviews, let alone dig up ancient ones - unless I am feeling especially motivated.
But also, most of the time we don't have a lot of good context for GRRM's quotes. How exactly a question was phrased, what direction the conversation went before it, how distracted or rushed was GRRM when answering, how likely is it he actually managed to get across exactly what he meant, and how easily can it get twisted around? Who edited and published it? Worse, did it go through a translation process?
Take the "Aragorn's Tax Policy" quote that still has people frothing at the mouth. People hear him mention Tolkien and lose all sense of nuance. No, he's not describing how his endgame king will be elected on his tax plan. He's giving context for parts of ADWD. That's it. Still people wail about what an evil hypocrite GRRM supposedly is because Bran was crowned king in the show without a single published treatise on his taxation policy.
Same with some commentary on the show, specifically Dany with Drogo. I've had people in my Inbox arguing for Rhaegar/Lyanna because GRRM is obviously okay with adult men preying on teenaged girls based on that interview. Which... you know, actually read Dany's chapters? Please?
The books, on the other hand, were not blathered out in a hurry. They are not a commentary on a text, they are the text. A labor of many hours of writing, editing, rewriting and more editing. They are complete and fully intentional in their form. They are the message.
So, while I admire how someone who knows what they are doing is able to create a brilliant body of supporting evidence on book content by compiling quotes in a meaningful way, often with good sources and context - looking at you here, @kellyvela - these lovely metas should never be considered necessary to understanding the text, and they should certainly neither replace nor supercede it. They augment the experience of it.
Knowing GRRM approved on the Meereenese Blot essays is nice.
But you don't need to know them, nor what GRRM thinks of them, in order to arrive at the same conclusion.
Knowing GRRM agrees with the statement that "Brienne is Sansa with a sword" is nice.
But you need never have heard of that quote in order to understand the similarities between these two idealistic, dutiful female characters.
He called Tyrion a villain, which is nice.
But you can arrive at that same conclusion by reading the books.
On the other hand, you can take one quote about the Key Five Characters from a decades-old outline that deviates from established plot in multiple significant instances, and then try and justify dismissing the importance of other characters. You just need to ignore the published text in order to do it!
So I just can't take that anon seriously when they gesture wildly at some quote about Sansa while ignoring the way it's entirely contradicted by the actual body of the text.
And if some members of the fandom have a habit of very selectively reading the text then this makes their analysis suspect, so what's really the point of arguing with someone who isn't really interested in analysis in the first place?
If "she burned a slave alive" or "she is ordering her servant to please her sexually" or "she condons torture even while she knows its useless" or "she ordered the murder of children" isn't going to convince them, an interview snippet isn't going to do it, either.

I love this question that Theon enjoyers keep touching on: why exactly are you still going? A question relevant to a lot of characters. And I have talked about this too w Jaime bc George very deliberately makes it so he loses everything that made him feel alive, that made him even want to live (not enough, certainly, considering how much passive suicidal ideation he does and how ready he is to throw his life away when given the chance) and he does have a moment where he ponders the “why?” after a massive crisis: Why would the stars want to look down on such as me? Brienne answers his question in a desperate attempt to make him keep going. His takeaway is to live and keep fighting for his loved ones and a chance for revenge, as per Brienne’s words. It makes him push through. Then, once he achieves his goal, once he returns, the whole thing falls apart. He loses his loved ones in different ways, and revenge is a dead end. But a key thing remains:
“What else can I do, but die?”
“Live,” she said, “live, and fight”
I think I came to a conclusion on how this whole question of “why exactly do we keep pushing forward” is explored with Jaime in specific. Like the answer to this question in his mind. I think death is so interesting with him. He is not afraid of it in the literal sense bc he rushes into suicide too easily and without hesitation, but I think he is terrified of it in the abstract sense as per his dream. Because it does mean it is all over. Death in the abstract sense always surrounds him. The bear, Ilyn, Cersei (the stranger), Stoneheart. His past self (the arakh and the moon symbolism is deliberate). The ghosts. Like death means the death of possibility, the thing George keeps mentioning in interviews about him, the death of the flames. And I think the answer to why he keeps living atp is to fight. Fighting as a whole is redefined. Fighting used to be so physical, like sex, it was about losing the self in the act, like the dissociative qualities of it is always emphasized with him. Jaime pre-ASoS was about stagnation. There is a reason he is in chains and in a dark cell for most of ACoK. It was about escaping the self and locking it away instead of confronting it. And he keeps thinking he can only be alive then. He says to Cersei he is only alive when he is fucking or fighting. I question that bc he was so disconnected from the self. It is all adrenaline. He is so dead inside that he needs to force that blood to flow. What kind of “alive” is that? But then the fighting gets redefined. Fighting can no longer be just “physical” for so many reasons. Fighting becomes about fighting the self and confronting the self. Fighting becomes the untangling of knots instead of cutting through them. Fighting used to be about being alive by losing the self. Now, fighting is about fighting to confront the self, and fighting to “live”. It plays into the brave golden knight deconstruction so well. The powerful brave golden knight was actually craven and empty. It had to be torn to pieces. The crippled broken man he actually is now is not craven. He is fighting a much realer battle rn. He confesses things to a dark mirror, an executioner, his darkest sins and darkest thoughts. In a way he is trying to see if there can even be salvation after that. It is key that all that he is left with is what he said and Ilyn’s silence or laughter. So he concludes: “kill me if you can.” Again, his Goldenhand the Just pursuit becomes a dead end too. So that sense of purpose is short lived and gone. He is heading towards a noose right now. He is gonna be confronted with his worst sins before a noose. I wonder what direction this will push him in. Again, what can you do, but die? Live and fight. For a chance of possibility. For those little flames in the “sea of darkness” in his weirdwood dream, and whatever it could mean. Maybe if you keep going you just end up in a greater and more unending darkness. Maybe there is no way out of the cave atp, maybe you are going down into the dark pits of your soul to doom yourself: I must go up, he told himself. Up, not down. Why am I going down? Below the earth his doom awaited, he knew with the certainty of dream; something dark and terrible lurked there, something that wanted him. Jaime tried to halt, but their spears prodded him on. If only I had my sword, nothing could harm me.
But unless you fight, unless you keep moving and holding that flaming sword, you will never actually find out. The flames go out in the dream when he stops fighting. His ghosts rush him then. So keep fighting instead. Fight the horrors. And if you end up dying anyway, if you end up in darkness anyway, at least you died in battle.

Rules: Pick any ten of your fics, scroll roughly to the midpoint, pick a line (or three) and share it. Then tag ten people.

1. i fear no fate (for you are my fate) - Jaime/Brienne
When she finally disarmed him, he stumbled to his knees and her sword was at his throat.
"Do you yield?" she questioned him.
The look on his face as he gazed up at her made Brienne glad that she was already flushed from exertion.
2. (a love) a lantern in the dark - Jaime/Brienne
“But do you love him?”
Brienne’s instinct is to look away, the feeling in her breast so heavy and full it could choke her. But she knows her father needs to see the certainty in her eyes.
“I can’t remember what it feels like not to love him.”
3. waiting to be consumed by you - Jaime/Brienne
He steps close enough that he can whisper directly into her ear. “Listen.” He watches the shiver as it rolls down her spine at the feel of his breath. “What do you hear?”
“Everything,” she whispers, awe tingeing her voice.
4. a helping hand - Jaime/Brienne
“Is that a no then?” Jaime asks.
She throws the pillow at his head. “That’s your reaction?"
"I don’t really care what it’s called,” he says easily. “I care if you don’t want a brojob. Mutual brojob or bust.”
5. with a hint of sin - Jaime/Brienne/Addam
"If you try to hold my hand, I swear upon all of the gods that I will gut you.”
6. We Make the Rules - Jaime/Brienne
Brienne: I’m sleeping with my boss
Ygritte: Fuck me I’ll pay for my own bus
7. I'll unfold before you - Jaime/Brienne
“I want to see you, all of you,” he says finally, his voice thick. “It is as simple as that.”
She can feel her heartbeat from her tongue to her toes.
“Thank you,” she says faintly, feeling detached from her own body.
8. Concupiscence - Jaime/Brienne
Part Three: A Little of What You Fancy Doesn’t Do Much Good
In the years that followed, the Knight would always wonder how his fate was changed by being the prisoner of the Maiden and not some lesser man or woman. If he had been the prisoner of someone less honorable, less caring, he would be dead. In that respect, he was thankful to be her captive.
But only in that respect.
Truly.
9. The Limit Does Not Exist - Jaime/Brienne
She knew too well how the world worked for a young woman in a male-dominated field when she accused a well-respected man of misconduct. Not that she was accusing him of misconduct. She’d never felt ill at ease around him before. Angry, aggravated, infuriated, and a whole host of other adjectives to describe her urge to throw one of her textbooks against a wall, or run directly to the gym and hit a punching dummy until her knuckles almost bled. But not unsafe.
10. this seems a good place to start - Sam/Jack (SG1)
"Carter," he interrupts her, a warning in his tone that she shouldn't follow that line of thought.
"Thank you for trying so hard to find another way," she says instead. "And thank you for doing what was necessary in the end."
He looks pained for a split second before he schools his features, carefully retreating behind his well-constructed walls.

Abandon Them Like You Abandoned Me
Immysan
Summary:
Jaime was lord of Casterly Rock for two years now. His confusion on why he was lord and not imprisoned by King Bran had settled a few months ago. Jaime mostly spend his days listening to petty squabbles between common folk, enjoying wine and feeling like shit for being alive. That was until he saw her, Brienne of Tarth, holding a small boy. She greeted the king with a smile so innocent, Jaime could feel himself melt from so far away. She easily walked with her father to their seat near other Stormland lords. They had a very nice view of the field. “Who is that child with lady Brienne?” Jaime asked the man sitting next to him. Tyrion nonchalantly shrugged at his brother. “Tyrion, I only saw a glimpse, but he looks golden.” “Hush, I am unsure what Lady Brienne has done during the two years of peace. It’s the first time since the war I have seen her on the mainland.” Jaime looked over at Brienne. She was lovely. Her hair still straw colored, her shoulders broad and those big hands holding the small boy, taking him from her lap and onto his…. “Who is that?!” Jaime whispered sharply.” “Ah, except that time she went with her lord husband to the wall.” “Husband?” “Peace helps people heal”
——
I as an writer an imploring anyone WHO CAN WRITE BRILLANTLY TO TAKE THIS STORY AND WRITE IT. This is WHAT I WANT TO WRITE AND WILL ACTUALLY STRUGLGLE WRITING AAAAAA
Brienne foolishly gets pregnant by Jaime after. Wanting her child not to be a bastard she agrees to marry someone and goes back home with her husband. Jaime does not KNOW.
Skip two years.
Jaime pov
Jaime is at a tourney waiting for the box to fill with all the invited nobles when he spotts Brienne walking in with her Tarth contingent. Jaime focuses on Brienne who was wearing breeches. She greets King Bran, notices the small golden lion that looks like a younger Tywin, because of paintings and when Genna makes mention of the child being lion like in whispers Tyrion tells them to shut up rudely. Jaime with new found desire for Brienne tries to think up a way to talk to her without making it obvious and giving attention to the child. Tyrion says Tormund is ginger maybe it’s his kid and Jaime scoffs then asked what she married that brute . Jaime finds a moment to talk to Brienne when she is alone coming from the privy and questions the child and she gets annoyed says I have no reason to talk about my child with a stranger or someone who is not family. He says he has rights to his son in a whispers which pisses her off more and she leaves. Mind you I will find a way to have them argue and kiss because they king of cuckolding is Jaime. I am obsessed with Tragedy too. Anyway the first day ends well. In this story lords stay in tents on the grounds during tourneys. Jaime is pacing and angry at everything then sulks that he wants to hold the kid. He never gets to hold his children and it sucks. Tyrion shrugged nonchalantly and uncaring, while Genna insult and gasses Jaime up. There is another talk between Jaime and Brienne which ends bad and she says do not speak to me in private lest tongues wag. Jaime tries to get Sansa to talk but she is also extremely nonchalant like Tyrion, both besties in gaslighting.
Jaime pov
The next day Brienne joined the melee and wins making everyone amazed and Jaime gets hard. He and Tyrion talk in whispers about how great she is. Jaime and Tyrion. Sansa comes to sit with them and gaslights the fuck out of them and mentions how good a mother Brienne is and Tormund is a great father. Which pisses Jaime and he goes to talk with Brienne in the tent that does go good. Jaime is bad with words and was a loser for two years. Brienne tells him you abandoned me not once, but twice. You left me for Cersei then refused to find any information about me. I would have taken you back as foolish as I am I would have, but not now. Leave me. Leave Galladon. She goes away and sits with Tormund who tells her something. A servant comes to tell her something which makes Brienne freak out and Tormund follows with Galladon in his hand. A group of stormland nobles sitting behind Jaime start talking about Brienne. “Ah, her last pregnancy was horrible I heard. Thank the lords, lord Tormund was there with her. He went all the way to the free world for a midwife. Such a good father.” “I am so jealous. If only my husband was as kind.” “Neither of her children look like the good lady.” Jaime ears perked up, then he asked Tyrion. “She bore the beast children?” “Twins I heard.” Jaime groaned. How the fuck was he supposed to win her over when she is mother of two children.
He catches her again and they talk and she is like then WHY DID YOU NOT CONTACT ME DURING THE TWO YEARS?! Gods, Brienne, how was I supposed? Say hey sorry for abandoning you, want to marry me? My sister dead, marry me? I Did look for you, but heard from Sansa you were in Tarth and doing good, nothing more. I thought about sailing to tarth, but again what was I supposed to say? I was crippled, sad, berated and had to pay my dues during the war. That is all my fault...
Okay so rereading on the seventh on Aug I think the starks scheming to get Brinne and Jaime together is bad writing, so that is completely dropped. I will just write it as luck and Sansa being mean, petty and Bran being petty to Jaime. Tyrion wanted to be annoying to Jaime for letting such a good women go, but regrets it when he sees the young child. Hears how  Galladon looks like a really young Tywin with sapphire eyes. It's baffling to Genna and she wants Jaime to find away to get their heir back.
It's peace time so you'll hear no drama, war talk or some nonsense about angry nobles. I might talk about grains, spring however I never experience four season.
Jaime pov
Day three: Tormund and Brienne are absent from the tourney. Jaime heard from ser Podrick how one of the twins is sick. Sansa says she didn’t know they had children and that Brienne and Tormund barely talked about their private life. They only came here because after this they would head to Winterfell . To Tormund’s childhood home. She asks Jaime do you still like or love Brienne and he doesn’t reply. He thinks then says yes he does love her. Maybe taking that approach would get him back in her head. Sansa says well stay away from her, Brienne looks happy.
Brienne pov day one.
She greets King Bran and shows him Galladon who eagerly tells him he always wanted to meet a king. Selwyn is older with eagerness. Maybe I should remove Selwyn from the story. Tormund greets him with a bow and very kind nobly words. She says Galladon is weirdly wordy refuses to keep his mouth shut. She takes her seat with the nobles and tells Tormund how boring Tourney’s are when you do not compete yourself. Later she excuses herself meets Jaime and shares her desire that sparked when they argued. She sits with Tormund and listened to the next group. They gossip, mostly her telling him who is who and him adding a catty remark that gets an equally mean reply.
Brienne pov day two
Brienne and Tormund talk at night in the tent about Jaime and how someone saw them arguing. Brienne’s reaction to her daughter getting sick, an old sickness comes back and she wants to leave. Tormund says take the horse and he will follow later with Galladon. It’s only right he tells the king then leaves.
Brienne pov day three
Brienne is worried about her daughter sickness getting worse. The journey to the mainland she was fine, but a little weak, but she survived the journey, She tells Tormund they should have stayed. He says we should have brought Ygritte with us, but curse her and her stupid.. Tormund, it is her wedding month, let her be. He sighs saying he knows, but he got her here incase he or the kids got sick, so she should stay a single sphincter. Brienne laughs at his words and frowns. The maester ensures everything will be fine and it is just a mild cold from the heat. Keep her hydrated, so Brienne does. Brienne waits until the maester is gone to tell Tormund, I always thought Talysanne would get sick first or often, as she does latch on my breast. Tormund shrugs and sits next to her. He takes her hand and says most of the children in this one village never latched they drank horse milk and were very healthy. I am sorry I can't do much. Brienne lowers her head. You did more for me than anyone during the two years. Because you refuse help. He joked kissed her and hand and they get up to care for Talysanne. Do you believe names have curses? Tormund asked suddenly. No, I pray no.
I literally fell asleep writing. Got so tired from the heat.
Jaime pov
figuring out how to see and hold Galladon, so he walks around their wings sometimes, the yards and throne room, when he finally gets the change it is by seeing a Galladon holding a wooden sword and fighting against a tree. Tormund is with him showing him which moves he can use. Jaime comments that the child is adorable to which Tormund replied he agrees. Tyrion appears and comes to watch the kid who then stops and smiles. Tormund tells them if you wanna touch him you can. Jaime gladly touches the kid, rubs his hair and asks if he can pick him up. They talk about children and how they should be raised and Tormund surprises them he has no kids, wanted to raise Galladon like a wildling, but Brienne doesn’t.
Brienne pov
She is caring for her sick daughter with the maester. She had sent Galladon away with Tormund. She knew she should have not brought the twins at barely one years old. She sighs and weeps when suddenly her other baby cries and the servant quickly soothes her. Brienne goes to her daughter and asks what is wrong. She tells the servants to care for the sick one and leaves with her daughter then meets Genna outside by the stairs. She asks if she can walk with her. She agrees reluctantly and they talk about her daughter and asks how it came to be she has twins in a sly way which Brienne says are a husband and wife not supposed to fuck. Genna laughs walks after her and says I just thought he had the decency to know about his child. Why keep it a secret? Why have another set of children when you could be lady of the rock and live happy. Brienne turns and says hurt why does everyone assume I am unhappy in my marriage? Brienne walked up when she saw Jaime holding Galladon in the air. They looked a like and panic soured to her. Galladon was truly a fierce lion reborn. Slowly more familiar faces came into view and Brienne felt awful. This could have been Jaime’s life, him as a father, but here I am no good as Cersei depriving my love of his child. His only heir. Genna and Brienne stepped into the circle. Brienne walked to Tormund side and gave him a nasty look which got a wide eye response from him. “Mama, hold me mama.” Galladon says and Brienne gave little Tarianne to Tormund and took Galladon from a sulking Jaime. “Does Galladon not like me?” Jaime teased the child. “I like being in mama’s arms, people must look up to me when I am in my mama’s arms, like the little lord I am.” That made everyone laugh and Genna whispered to Jaime “just like Tywin.” “When was he born?” “August 6th.” Tormund answered. “Oh my, my brother was born in august.” Genna replied delighted. “He should have been named Tywin.” There came some laughter, little awkward. Tarianne fussed and giggled, she pulled her fathers beard and giggled louder. Tormund asked if she was sleeping earlier? No, her nanny was playing with her. Tormund leaned closer and Brienne listened ignoring the others for a moment then smiled. I agree, you can. King Bran said “His name day will be in a 3 months. Will you celebrate big and invite us?” “Of course, we’ll be north by that time, your majesty.” Tormund said. “It’s been planned since the twins birth.” Brienne nodded. “Only if Talysanne feels better will we travel. For now we can only wait.” “She is a strong girl, she’ll be fine.” Sansa reassured. “I trust the maesters will help as best they can.” “Tsk, a wildling can cure children illnesses better.” “Not again.” Brienne replied. “Later we can argue all you want.” “Tsk tsk tsk, it’s not arguing when my advice can have our girl healed quickly.” Brienne looked away. “The maesters won’t fail us, Tormund.” “Indeed, I have the best maesters in the castle right now. All of them are looking over your daughter now.”
The group goes to eat their last meal of the day together. Brienne and Tormund head to bed and talk about their day then daughter. She gives him a smile then leaves for her chambers. Tormund goes to his. Brienne lies awake for an hour Pickering about her daughter then sits by her bed and ask servants to watch her well.
Jaime pov
Okay so Jaime thinks up ways to see Brienne alone and the perfect opportunity arrives when Tormund is busy with hears of Arya sailing here. Tormund leaves with Sansa to the harbour. Jaime, Tyrion and Brienne talk about the peace and being lords. Galladon is playing with a sword. He calls his mother to look at him often. Podrick joins them too and they start reminiscing about the past fondly. The past and future were good. Podrick is like I am glad you got to fulfill your wish. Jaime agrees and reaches for her hand and says he never meant to hurt her. Galladon shouts and walks up the group and berates them for not watching him beat his opponent. Brienne pulls her hand away. Jaime asked if Galladon if he saw his mother fight often and he says she doesn’t beat anyone. To which Jaime says I beat her many times. Galladon says proof it. Brienne smiles says I stopped holding back since Galladons birth. Tyrion comments with laughter and Podrick says you were a strong force before! They spar and sparks fly. Jaime is sure she still likes him and asks for just one conversation in private. Brienne refuses, takes Galladon and excuses herself. The twins need her. Brienne’s heart races. The journey was a bad idea. She checks on the twins, sits with them for hours then goes to eat supper. She hears Tormund’s voice booming and meets the Starks. They exchange pleasantries. Arya says she wants to see the babies. She can’t believe they never said anything about babies. The women go to her room and meet the children. They ask her point blank why she hasn’t even invited them for the twins, why the secrets and Brienne blushed says I forgot. Tormund wanted to say something but left it to me and I just forgot. Raising children is heard, even with help! Later that night Tormund sits on her bed and they talk about how big Arya became and he starts commenting about Galladon future, saying he won’t mind where the child goes and suddenly says if you wanna divorce me I won’t mind. This makes Brienne’s smile falter and she remains quiet. Tormund says Brienne? Again, again, then stops asking. He gets up and bids her goodnight and leaves. The next day Brienne breaks her fast with Galladon says little Tarianne is still sick and she does not get why. She never dealt with sickness like this. Usually it takes a few days to break. Sansa comforts her. When Tormund walks in she stiffens looks away, but he just comes to her side greets everyone nicely and takes a happy Galladon shrieking for his father. He says the boy should finish his meal with his father. Sansa says he is making things up to spend more time with Galladon and Brienne says you should him at home with Galladon. A spoiled brat of a father. Jaime strolls in with a fuming Genna and they see Galladon. Genna greets the boy quickly while Jaime greets everyone then Brienne, Sansa, Tormund and Galladon. He asks about the sick girl and they both say it’s not going as well as they hope.
NOW HOW DO I GeT JAIME AND BRIENNE TOGETHA?
Why is Genna angry? Genna invites Brienne to teatime with Sansa, and Arya in the garden at ten am. Brienne agrees against better judgement. The teatime goes. Jaime watches from a far for a moment trying to listen but gives up and goes to look for Tyrion and asked what he thinks of everything happening right now. The child that should be his heir and future lord of the house. Tyrion says he knew she had a child, but no one but people on Tarth saw him. They called him the sun's son, but that was all. They boy was not his to claim and you, Jaime were so sad about your love's death,  your children's death, the broken heart from leaving Brienne, I could not go and talk to you about rumours. I could not go barge into Tarth demand to see the child, hidden away from everyone, even King Bran, Queen Sansa and Jon snow. What rights did I have? What rights do I have now when he has a father. Jaime groans. He should be calling me papa, Tyrion, He should come to me for sword advice, be in my arms and demand the lords bow to him, make stupid idioms of lions being brave. I have nothing now. Tyrion laughs. You choice nothing, Jaime. You choose nothing for two years. Jaime groaned he had no choice in choosing. It was the baby in Cersei or the woman he loved who could have been killed. Could have could have been. There was a different presence now.
Brienne pov
Genna jumps Brienne with the why's and how she deprived the small child of a very amazing title, he would be the future lord of casterly rock. Brienne scoffs, so I should have carried the tittle Kingslayers whore and bastard mother for two years?  Genna says not what I meant. You could have told Sansa or me about the pregnancy and I would have definitely gotten you out of the war, brought you to casterly rock and a lady, Jaime's fiance. For so long we waited for Jaime's marriage. I can see how your eyes drift to him. You still love him, so why do you torture yourself and your son. Brienne does not reply. Sansa said I heard rumours your marriage with Tormund was bad, but seeing you two interact I see something differnet. Brienne are you truly happy? Brienne looked over to the flowers and still remains quiet. Genna scoffs. You will age horribly if you keep all your emotions pent up inside you. At least share with me why you are stealing Galladon's future? Brienne looks back. I am stealing nothing. Nothing was offered duting my pregnancy. I want for nothing. although Tartth is not rich, it has done well for nearly three years, Galladon is the future evenstar, lord of Tarth and ship guide for every ship that sails. He is happy and I am happy. Tormund is trying. He adapted and I should not talk about my husband behind his back. What can you or Jaime offer that I do not already have? Nothing, lady Genna. Lady Sansa, forgive me for not keeping you updated as I promised, but I was scared someone would intercept the letters and tell Tyrion of Galladon's birth, of when he was born. I have grown so accustomed to privacy I forgot sharing news of my twins. Tormund wanted to travel to winterfell earlier, but I hesitated, until the summons for a tourney. We will visit your wonderful kingdom later this year. Genna frowns is there nothing that will make you change your mind? Brienne shakes her head and remained quiet.
Later that night Brienne pressed onto her fingers onto hard flesh, rubbed a line down till she touched his upper elbow. "In your culture this is erotic, is it not?"
Tormund nods. "It is, my lady. Mayhaps, you should not touch unless you are wanting a match?"
"You've never won against me, my lord." Brienne replied.
They talk about their day and she confesses that Jaime is a problem in her heart and Tormund again offers a divorce, but say I will say no the first time. I don't want to letyou go, but I want you happy. Brienne gets annoyed, she can't pretend to be asleep and says I will not abandon our family like Jaime abandoned me. To which Tormund whispers brokenly It is only me, the twins I can visit, can I not?
Brienne gets out of bed. Checks the twins and stays there. Tormund groaned and keeps his eyes shut.
Jaime pov
Jaime says it would be nice if there were no other kids and she could easily divorce the her husband, then with no problem I could make her my wife. Tyrion agrees it would be nice, the young boy is too much as a lion to be growing up under a brute Northman. Jaime is not classist, he's just jealous. When he hears the child is still sick he wonders if it is his negativre thoughts that manifested the sickness so he shuts up.
It's been nine days since the tourney. The child is still somewhat sick, therefore Jaime rarely sees Brienne with Galladon. He was sitting wiith Tyrion on a balcony overlooking the western garden when he saw Brienne walking out of the building holding a baby. A baby. Tyrion says ah, that must be Tarianne  She stands in the sun with the child. Galladon walking behind holding her dress and speaking. They stand for a long time soaking the sun. Jaime says she might never give this up for me.  Tyrion thinks the humans are strange and will do anything for love, maybe like you she can break their marriage oath, what is a man who worships the old gods?
He meets Brienne by chance in the hallway, she is staning by a window, taking in the view and sighing. Jaime comes by her side and asks if they can talk, so they do. Jaime walks with Brienne to her room and they talk about sword styles, fighitng, his hand and how it is to be a lord. She suddenly smiles proudly that tarth is doing great. He goes in, she continues talking when the door closes and Jaime and Brienne look at each other in shock. "Ah, it is not what I wanted, Entering your chambers without permission is not what I wanted."
They kiss by sheer attraction, fiercely and Jaime sees how she becomes red, tells him to go and Tarianne is still sick. Jaime goes, hoping no one saw him. The attractoin is there, so it might work. They might fight against their feelings, but attraction, desire and pure human emotions can't keep them apart.
Brienne pov
She tells Tormund about how Jaime and her kissed and he looked at her completely taken back and then he laughs saying ain't nothing he did not expect and Brienne is offended. He says he was wondering why his room and hers were seperated. It was not like other stormland nobles had seperate rooms, some shared one chamber and them knowing they were married should have given them the same room and he wonders if maybe someone is hoping she goes back to Jaime. If she wants Jaime then he is fine with her, it might be the insecurity talking but Brienne I don't mind much, I want you happy and Brienne gets so angry at him. She says stop trying to save me, Tormund. Stop assuming I still need savng from my emotions, from the craven me I was two years ago. I won't do anything to horrible to Galladon, to our twins or you. Tormund stands holds her hand and says I am not saving you, I am offering you a choice, one that was not given to you two years ago./ I assume he regrets it. I assume by the looks that he throws your way that he regrets everything, that it is eating him up and I know hi-
And me, Tormund? Where do I falll in your speech of  choice?
I am getting there. I know his name is still on your lips as you say your prayers to the seven. Brienne, Gods my lovely Brienne, all I desire is your happiness, your true happiness and I think i can only achieve seeing you happy with Jaime. He would raise the twins as his own, just like I would. You could always send them my way.
You and him are both fucking selfish bastards. Sleep in your own bed, Tormund, I want you far away.
Tormund said he doesn't want to, but he will. He leaves.
Brienne angrily cries and is sure everything is this stupid castle fault. She chekcs on her kids sees them still sleeping and goes too bed.
There comes good news the maeter says the girl is doing good and the sun has done her good, some color in her skin. Brienne is glad, she enjoys silence in the gardens with the three kds and the nanny, when sansa strolls up with Tyruin and they talk.  Arya is sparring with some knights in the yard and beating them. Tyrion and Sansa say they can take Galladon to watch but she says no. Do not take my son anywhere. Sansa is taken back the vicicousness and asks if she is okay and Brienne is like sorry, Galladon do you want to go see them spar? She takes his hand and carries her daughter to the yeards where they watch in the shade. She sees Jaime sparring too and it brings fond memories back. God, never deprive yourself of a person when they feelings were hatred, you will focus to much on it and when you see them again it is love. Jaime stops walks over and greets Galladon with smiles and asks if he wants to fight too. Brienne says stop asking him to fight.
Galladon agrees and plays with Jaime and Brienne grows annoyed by everything. how stupid, make it obvious I carried a bastard and pawned him off to another man. She turns to the septa and whispers for her to take the twins. THe septa does and she calls Galladon back. Offers him a toy and leaves, Jaime follows and says he will be leaving two days later, escorting Genna back and he needs to do some lordship things. When are you leacing? When mt daughter feels good. I think when the weather is good.
Jaime nods and leaves her be talks to Tyrion.
Jaime pov
Jaime prepares for his leave, escorts Genna halfway, meets his advisor and tells him his words, signs a letter and goes back to the castle with high hopes. Foolishly high hopes.
When he arrives it is Sansa and Tyrion waiting for him. They bring him somewhere quiet and tell him the child Tarianne passed away, so he must keep his words less and watch what he says./ Brienne is mourning and Tormund is in a foul mood terrorizing the squires in the yard. They are waiting for John. They go back to the gates and see John approaching. He hugs everyone and they tell him what happened. Jaime asked if Tyrion did anything or someone poisoned the kid, but no none of that. Children fall ill then grow sick fairly quickly. Brienne and Tormund are arguing in their room when they knock and he hears them talking about how the funeral should proceed. Sansa says Brienne wants the burned in Tarth, while Tormund wants her buried in the north with his ancestors. Sansa knocked and they crowded in. Tormund leaned against the wall near the window and Brienne was standing holding a necklace in her hand, she rubbed the bead of the necklace and asked what they wanted.
They noticed Bran in the room with a solemn smile. He said he came with an option for them, but they are arguing so much he barely had time to say his piece. something like that.
They give their condolences. Bran whispered to John they agreed to let me adopt Tarianne as my daughter and have her buried here, but are fighting for no other reason than throwing the blame at someone.
Brienne pov
The funeral happens and Brienne is crying in Tormund's embrace and he has tears tolling down his face. Galladon is talking to Bran. Talysanne is asleep i her septa's hands.
Okay where should I go with this story now? Hhmm maybe a sweet moment of Brienne crying to Jaime and telling him how much she missed him in a moment of weakness.
how she would have dropped everything for him. She tells him she hated leaving Galladon alone, hated leaving him with Tormund too, it was when he was sick and cared for him, brought Ygritte a witch that helped remove the slime out of his throat that she felt she could trust Tormund.   here Jaime is giving me sweet words, telling me of a future that could have been. Everything could have been, Jaime. You could have died many times, been a father many times, I am sure you would, but no, you aren't because of choices. I am a mother of three. All three were unplanned, but I kept them because I wanted to be a mother, I wanted to give them a chance and see myself happy as a mother, show my dad  his heir. Did you ever see me as your wife, Jaime?
I did I saw you as my wife many times, beofre I knew of the baby and I hated how I left you alone, i was a coward, thinking hightly of myself, thinking there was only one way to protect you. Clearly there were more ways, options, but I was a fool. gods, Brienne how can I rectify my mistake? How can I get you and your children back in my life?  I don’t know, Jaime. I don’t know.  she gets up from her seat next to him, wipes her tears and leaves.
John pov.
John is with Tormund sitting on the balcony overlooking the city. He sighs and holds Talysanne carefully and looked over at John sulking.  “will you stop being so sad, John?”
”I can’t help it. The first time I hear and meet my niece is when she is being buried. I am sorry, I was insensitive.”
”no, I understand. I get… my god I should have never waited to tell you or any stark. Even my brothers do not know about my children.”
”why?”
”I saw the fear in her eyes during Galladon’s growth. BRIENNE was paranoid, someone was out to get Galladon, yank him away from her and it was a fear coming from Jaime demanding the son he did not know about. You think she will leave me?”
”no. Should BRIENNE?”
”God, no. I ask, because I told her two times she can.”
”Talysanne?”
”Gods, I am unsure. I see her sad eyes and just want to see them turn bright once more. I am in love, John. So foolishly in love I would let my love choose hers, just so I can see her happiness. She called me selfish. A pig and fool.”
I really think killing Tormund is weak so prepare for a separation so cruel you will hate me for it.
Brienne pov
Brienne smiled at her reflection in the mirror, she was practicing for when she met the others. It's the second day after the funeral. She was sitting in her room, tear stained. Big muscular hands wrapped around her shoulders and she felt a kiss on her cheek. Tormund's beard tickled her and she made a comment of it. "How are you feeling, my lady? Don't answer. I wanted us to eat supper on the beach, but when I went to see what the beach is like here I was agash by the filthy smell, so no beach for us. I told the staff to prepare supper on a boat. But that would take to long and we'd grow hingry."
"How sweet of you, Tormund. I pray you have not let our food become cold by planning."
"I have!" He turned her towards him, kissed her on the lips, then said. "I hope you don't mind it's just the two of us."
"Who will care for our children? Surely you can't expect to leave them alone?"
"I asked John if he'd not mind."
Tormund brought Brienne to the gardens where they would eat their supper. It was lovely and he stood while she sat, kissed her hand, said how he loves her, enjoys her, wants her to be happy and more. He makes mention that Galladon and Talysanne will become fine nobles, because of his teaching.
Brienne squezes his hand and says you are leaving me. I know you are, so say it, instead of talking about love!

Catelyn Stark (or whatever was left of her) had waited long enough.
Her wounds had turned to scars; her grief went from an unwelcome visitor into her closest friend, the one thing that gave her strength: she’d wept and suffered and raged, and now it was time to act. Her enemies had taken everything away except her life.. and her daughters. Since Bran had fallen from that tower her days had been an endless succession of grief and loss: Ned, then Bran and Rickon, now Robb and all the rest. It ought to have been more than she could take, and yet she endured it for Arya and Sansa. Her girls were alive and they needed her. It was not even strength that kept her alive at this point, no, Catelyn was past feeling strong now… it was nothing more than motherly love.
Which meant that she would have to swallow her pride. Not that there was much of it left.
It was a hard journey. Day and night, night and day she crossed from the Twins through the Riverlands, through forests and hills all the way North, never once going near the kingsroad, relying solely on Brienne of Tarth’s protection from bandits, or worse. She needed information and they had to be inconspicuous. Brienne would have to leave her alone at times to go into taverns and hear what was being said about the current state of affairs while Catelyn hid in the woods. She hadn’t liked the idea, but it was the safest option. Even the slightest slip in discretion could cost their lives. Cat often dyed her hair with whatever she could find along the way: berries, leaves, roots… the color never lasted long, and she didn’t always find them. The closer they got to the North, the higher the risk of her being recognized.
Her faith in the gods had long begun to slip away, and yet she still felt that they must have played a part in keeping the two women alive until they finally reached Castle Black. Many times she’d feared they wouldn’t. It still didn’t make the ordeal ahead of her any easier: all her life Catelyn had held Jon Snow in contempt for his father’s choices, and now she had to come to him in the Night’s Watch to ask him to betray his vows and help her save his sister from the Boltons. He could so easily say no: as much as she hated to admit it, the boy was every bit like Ned. But when she asked herself if Ned would choose Arya over honor… she liked to imagine that he would, so perhaps Jon might say yes.
It can’t have been for nothing, she thought to herself. Gods, don’t let it be for nothing…
And then he entered the empty hall. When she stared at him, Catelyn was speechless. She always knew the right thing to say to her children, but he was not one of them, and for a moment she couldn’t find the words to even greet him. “Jon”, she said at last, standing up politely. There was no hostility in her eyes this time: her gaze was guarded, silently humbled by the plea she’d bring to him, yet still too mournful to be proud. “Thank you for receiving me.”

I think people who pick one character from AsoIaF/GoT to be The Protagonist are missing the point, because pretty much all of the characters think THEY are The Protagonist™ and that’s ultimately what screws them over.
(I also want to preface this by saying that that’s the reason I find these characters so interesting, and that this is not meant to insult any of them. I LOVE this story, and this is one of the many reasons why.)
Cersei thinks she’s the Villain Protagonist™ of a gritty drama. Even if it doesn’t make sense for things to work out for her, she assumes they will, seeing everyone around her as faceless idiots serving her narrative. Anyone and everyone will betray her because that’s what always happens in stories like this, so she won’t give them a chance to ever get there. People will move the way she assumes they will; everyone is predictable and stupid and shallow and cowardly. And as such, no one possesses the necessary skills to take her down. If she’s more ruthless and ambitious and paranoid than everyone else, she’ll get what she wants. But that’s not how life actually works, so all she does is alienate those around her, even necessary allies. People aren’t always predictable, not all of them are compliant or subservient or easily-frightened or incompetent. And if you prioritize ruthlessness and distrust, the people who aren’t those things aren’t going to see any reason to keep you around or give you aid.
Jaime thinks he’s a Cynical Misunderstood Antihero. He doesn’t need to work on bettering himself or de-internalizing his violent impulses, because he’s not the problem, it’s society, it’s people’s incorrect assessment of him. Look, he made a friend in Brienne, that must mean he’s not all bad, right? He thinks this story ends in a Public Image Rehabilitation, but he still conflates love with violence, and he still has a fucked up relationship with consent, he’s arrogant to a fault, he still insults Brienne (and just about everyone else) when the opportunity presents itself, and he never bothers trying to change that. And it’s all of this that prevents him from every truly becoming a good person. He’s so mired in this idea of being misunderstood that he doesn’t make a concerted effort to prove that he actually is. People think he’s an oath-breaker, that he has too big of an ego, that he doesn’t care about the people he swore to protect, and he thinks that simply going, “Yeah, but they don’t have the whole picture” is enough in and of itself to prove them wrong because, in a lot of stories, it is. But all his behavior does is cement his reputation as these things.
Dany thinks she’s The Chosen One, which means whatever she does is automatically the right decision. People will accept her rule because it’s hers, she deserves it, it’s morally right. All of her enemies are blanketedly wrong on all accounts in all cases. Her goals supersede anyone else’s because those goals are the way to a Happy Ending, and she doesn’t consider that other people might not see it that way. Many people’s gripes with her stem from gross places like misogyny or wanting to continue keeping slaves, but she forgets to acknowledge that some people’s issues with her might actually be valid. And that The Chosen One is actually a terrifying idea to people outside that person’s immediate personal context. She has three sentient WMDs, essentially. And if she thinks that using them is always morally correct, that the fallout from doing so can’t possibly be a problem because she’s using them and it’s for a noble cause, you end up with what happened in Astapor; and you end up with Drogon killing a child in Mereen and, eventually, her demise at the end of the show.
Sansa starts out thinking she’s an Optimistic Child Hero in a fairytale. This leads to her being held captive at court (she trusted that the authority figures were benevolent), writing a letter to her family that almost comes back to bite her to a deadly degree once her sister finds out in the show (she thought she could solve everything herself via a peaceful resolution), and to her trusting a complete monster of a boy until it’s too late (she thought he was Prince Charming). She thinks that being the Soft, Beautiful Heroine means people will love her and everything will end nicely and neatly, but sometimes instead of “love”, people just take advantage of you. And sometimes their reaction to your beauty isn’t innocent appreciation-sometimes you end up with Littlefinger. (Or Tyrion or The Hound who...let’s just leave it at “they have their own issues,” especially book-wise.) This morphs into assuming that a fairytale-esque betrayal will befall her with every new person she meets. It’s why she defends Petyr after his murder of Lysa, and it’s why she doesn’t leave with Brienne; if she’s going to be betrayed anyway, she might as well at least stick with a villain she understands.
Ned thinks he’s the Noble Hero in a typical fantasy series. He doesn’t consider everyone else’s capacity for cruelty or the idea that honor alone might not be enough. Sometimes there are no perfect choices, sometimes mercy does not give you the end goal you envisioned, and sometimes you can try your best and that can all be undone by one impulsive, unforeseeable action. You can’t honor your way out of ruthless political conflict.
Robb thinks he’s a Romantic War Hero, and thus everything will magically work out for him. His ideals and his marriage will conquer everything. But he broke a marriage promise to a powerful family, and that has consequences. The world won’t bend to his will, not even if he is doing the right thing or has noble goals, not even if he’s had war success, not even if the people at home love him, not even if he’s in love (show) or doing the most honorable thing he can (books). He thinks that being the hero means he can make it through Westeros without having to play the game, and he gets murdered for it.
Theon thinks he’s an Underdog Outcast Hero. He’ll come up from behind with an unsuspecting War Victory, and that will earn him respect, the love of his family, and a legacy he can look back on with pride. And that mindset leads him to murder two children, to drive away any allies and good grace he had at Winterfell, and the reason that the War Victory he imagined was so unexpected is because it’s completely untenable. He gets more and more desperate and it’s increasingly harder and harder to hold onto the control he’s managed to obtain. He has reasons for wanting this that make sense, and he’s been dealt a pretty bad hand in life, and he thinks that’s and his determination to overcome his personal identity struggles is enough to not only justify his actions, but ensure that those actions will be successful. And then his plan blows up in his face, he assumes he’s been miraculously saved (probably still having something to do with seeing himself as The Unexpected Hero), and ends up at Ramsay’s mercy.
Arya thinks she’s a Badass Heroine in the making, a skilled swordslady and Rebellious Princess who’s destined for more than this stuffy life of politics and dresses and formalities. But rebelling isn’t always enough. It doesn’t help with the Mycah situation, and she still needs to rely on others’ help in getting out of the city after Ned is executed. When she does try to embrace the “fully self-sufficient sword lady” idea while with the Faceless Men in Braavos, she is told to functionally discard her identity completely. She does an unauthorized kill because she, not her assassin-persona-in-training, wants to (though the victim’s identity differs in books and show), which leads to her being temporarily blinded and prevented from going on assassination missions, and outright forced to beg for food in the show. In the show, after being reinstated as an apprentice, she is tasked with killing an innocent person, refuses (rebels), and realizes that this life is one she can’t handle. She goes home, and her heading straight for her sword is one of the things that almost completely ruins her relationship with Sansa. In the upcoming Winds of Winter release, her chapter excerpt has her prioritizing revenge over her apprentice duties, and she remarks that her new identity is ruined with this rebellious action. When you rebel, there are consequences-this doesn’t change just because your intentions are good or because you are or think you are important.
Jon thinks, similarly to Ned, that he’s The Good Guy, that doing the right thing, that following The Code is paramount. He thinks that, because he’s The Good Guy, that doing the right thing with the maximum amount of good for everyone will always be a workable option, and that the heroic option will always yield the best result. This is why he thinks proclaiming his love to Ygritte in the show will end well (because love is good and conquers everything) and is, instead, shot by her several times. It’s why he doesn’t foresee a mutiny in either medium, which leads to his (temporary) death. (Let’s be real, he’s getting resurrected in the books, too, this is the one thing I’m sure of.) Because yes, everything is tense and he’s on bad terms with the Watch, but surely they wouldn’t go that far. It’s rough going, and he has to juggle the needs of several widely different groups of people, but he’s doing the right thing and that will win out; his conviction will protect him, at least for the time being while he tries to manage the bigger threat of the White Walkers. The real fight is with them, the mysterious overarching enemy, not within his own ranks. This is a story where everyone puts aside their differences to fight a greater threat-except for the times when it isn’t.
Even Catelyn isn’t immune, as she assumes that Petyr, since he’s her childhood friend, is invested in solving the mystery of what happened to Bran when he tells her the dagger used in the attack was Tyrion’s. Lysa is her sister, she can’t possibly be suspicious. She thinks the Lannisters are evil, her instincts tell her that they were behind everything, she’s the Protective Mother Heroine, so she must be right. But although she is to a certain extent correct, that’s not the complete picture. And this slightly-misplaced confidence leads her to arrest Tyrion, the retaliation of which is Tywin siccing his forces on her homeland, one of the major first steps in the upcoming political war. Then, her continued focus on saving her children-something that must take precedence because they are her children, and this is her story-leads her to taking Walder Frey’s supposed offer of a fix-it solution for Robb breaking his marital pledge at face value, despite House Frey’s reputation, and despite this neat resolution seeming far too good to be true. She’s so focused on the Lannisters-the Obvious Endgame Enemy-that she doesn’t consider the possibility of betrayal from the Freys. She thinks that the world is giving her a break-because she is so desperately looking for one, because she deserves one, because her family deserves one, and those are reasons enough for her to have one-that she doesn’t even bother to re-evaluate the situation until it’s too late.
Melisandre thinks she’s a Religious Hero, but she ends up burning a child alive and alienating one of her few remaining allies in the process (and Davos was barely an ally to begin with). She thinks she’s Doing What Needs To Be Done to serve her savior, but it hurts Stannis more than it helps him, and he just ends up being murdered by Brienne. This is obviously in the show only (at least at this point), and I don’t know if Stannis is going to burn Shireen in the books or not. Stannis thinks he’s the Lawful Hero, and thus, because according to law he’s the Rightful Ruler, anything he does is automatically excusable; he’s just righting a wrong. And in the process, he imprisons his closest friend, has a hand in murdering his brother (when kinslaying is one of the most universally hated breaches of conduct in this fictional universe), allies with a dangerous woman that much of his own court despises, and, in the show, murders his only child and drives away most of the rest of his remaining team.
They all think that, since they are the main characters of their own stories, that they’re the main character of the larger, overarching narrative. That having understandable reasons or sympathetic qualities or even just having a clear goal that they desperately want, that’s enough to cement their importance. And they think that means that they’re justified in everything they do, that everything will work out for them, that the consequences will be lesser for them than for others, because that’s what it’s like to be the main character. The whole point is that there is not A Protagonist™ and that maybe we should examine why a story needs A Protagonist™ in the first place and what that narrative tradition tells us. When GRRM said he turned down adaptation offers because they only wanted to focus on Jon and Dany, this is why.
#asoiaf#got#asoiaf meta#got meta#most of this is directly related to everyone deconstructing the archetypes they would represent in other stories#so I'm not sure how much of this is just 'deconstructing tropes' and how much of it is 'Main Character Perception Syndrome'#also obviously this isn't every character I ran out of room and honestly some of them like davos and brienne and maybe even loras#probably don't think they're The Main Character which there's a whole other essay in there about how they're The Good People#I personally think Bran never gave off 'I think I'm the main character' energy but I know haters will disagree with me on that#like...Idk his sense of self-worth kind of went away and he spent a bunch of time trying to get it back and figure out how to get by#in a society that now thought he was worthless. and how to get enjoyment out of life when his goals were no longer reachable#it read less as 'I think I'm more Important™' and more 'I'm just trying to survive man' but also I love bran I might be a little biased lmao#cersei lannister#jaime lannister#dark!dany#sansa stark#arya stark#theon greyjoy#jon snow#catelyn stark#robb stark#ned stark#melisandre#stannis baratheon#I take my life into my own hands by putting actual names in the tags but I talk about these characters and I don't know how else to tag#this to ensure people who don't want to see it won't have to see it#also for anyone wondering where tyrion is on this list: I was too tired to delve into this phenomenon regarding him because it is ESPECIALLY#prominent regarding him. and this post was already so long and talking about tyrion in this context probably would've made it TWICE as long#there genuinely isn't enough space in here to include him but know that I'm counting him too. most definitely#behold! a creation!

I always find it amusing that Sandor shows more anger and aversion upon hearing Tyrion and Sansa got married than Jon. But you won’t hear none of that from #those fans of hers lol
No, you don’t understand - Sandor shows anger and aversion after hearing about Tyrion and Sansa getting married ON THE PAGE! Which means, he doesn’t care about her unlike Jon Snow. That’s just how GRRM builds up relationships and writes romance, sorry 🤷🏽‍♀️
Unlike Sandor, it's too painful for Jon to even think about Sansa! He's too ashamed as a bastard to love beautiful, high born Sansa and is repressing his feelings because he is not worthy of her love 😭😭. The beauty and beast story GRRM is telling us is about beast Jon Snow - he got a scar over his eye! -  being worthy of the love of beautiful Sansa.
GRRM’s romance plots in the series tend to happen off page and only really smart book readers have figured this out. For ex. there is nothing between Jaime and Brienne simply because Jaime rescued Brienne or Brienne is starting to care for Jaime - that’s all written on the page and hence fake.
I mean, we can see so clearly in ADwD that Jon doesn't care as much about Arya as he does for Sansa because he is worried and conflicted and concerned for Arya.  It’s not at all painful for Jon to think of Arya married to Ramsay ...
By now she’d be eleven, Jon thought. Still a child. “I have no sister. Only brothers. Only you.” Lady Catelyn would have rejoiced to hear those words, he knew. That did not make them easier to say. His fingers closed around the parchment. Would that they could crush Ramsay Bolton’s throat as easily. - ADwD
Or look at Robb and Catelyn reaction to the Sansa/Tyrion marriage.
Robb took her hand. “They married her to Tyrion Lannister.” Catelyn’s fingers clutched at his. “The Imp.”
“He’s the Kingslayer’s brother. Oathbreaking runs in their blood.” Robb’s fingers brushed the pommel of his sword. “If I could I’d take his ugly head off. Sansa would be a widow then, and free. There’s no other way that I can see. They made her speak the vows before a septon and don a crimson cloak.”
Catelyn remembered the twisted little man she had seized at the crossroads inn and carried all the way to the Eyrie. “I should have let Lysa push him out her Moon Door. My poor sweet Sansa … why would anyone do this to her?” - Catelyn, ASoS
Catelyn and Robb don’t care about Sansa as much as Jon Snow either. We know for sure that only Jon cares about Sansa the most - because it’s not on the page and that’s how any good author and GRRM builds up a proper romance story.
It’s not like when GRRM wants to actually showcase or depict a character not wanting to think about someone they are starting to like or be attracted towards...
Yet he was growing fond of Tormund Giantsbane, great bag of wind and lies though he was. Longspear as well. And Ygritte … no, I will not think about Ygritte. - Jon, ASoS
No, with Jonsa it’s this big super secret romance happening off page that only the smartest, cleverest people in this fandom have figured out. GRRM cannot even mention Sansa in any of Jon’s childhood memories and emotional nostalgia about the people he cares for and loves
He remembered the day he had left Winterfell, all the bittersweet farewells; Bran lying broken, Robb with snow in his hair, Arya raining kisses on him after he’d given her Needle.
Even the thought made him feel foolish; he was a man grown now, a black brother of the Night’s Watch, not the boy who’d once sat at Old Nan’s feet with Bran and Robb and Arya.
That might mean Lord Eddard would return to Winterfell, and his sisters as well. He might even be allowed to visit them, with Lord Mormont’s permission. It would be good to see Arya’s grin again and to talk with his father.
Jon Snow straightened himself and took a long deep breath. Forgive me, Father. Robb, Arya, Bran … forgive me, I cannot help you. He has the truth of it. This is my place.
Playing, Jon thought in astonishment, grown men playing like children, throwing snowballs the way Bran and Arya once did, and Robb and me before them.
because GRRM wants to subvert expectations, like David Benioff and  Dan Weiss did superbly in GOT for which they received critical praise, and have random events just happen out of nowhere. That’s how a good romance story in the same vein as Sense and Sensibility is written.
Jon’s desperation to save Arya, breaking his NW oaths to go attack the Warden of the North etc? That’s not because of Arya. Subconsciously it’s about Sansa - she’s in his subconscious thoughts - off page - all the time, his great love for her is what motivates his decisions. Don’t ask me how I know this because it’s not in the books, I just do.
Oh and all Jon Snow wants in a wife and partner is lots of babies. For real. He is attracted to women who are willing to be broodmares and so Daenerys who cannot have children (Despite her possibly having a miscarriage at the end of ADwD) and Arya, who at 9 years old wasn’t a fan of marriage and babies, are out as candidates. Jon doesn’t even know his own mind when he loves Ygritte and is attracted towards and admires Val - they kill people😱. He is actually, secretly repulsed by them (All happening off page) just like he will be repulsed by Arya and Daenerys for killing people omg.
Which is how GRRM is giving us those hints and clues that Jonsa is happening because 11-13 year old Sansa loves marriage and babies and Jon hoped to have kids one day just like Daenerys and Tyrion.... Wait, Tyrion also wants children and so does Sansa and they are already married and Sansa is missing Tyrion in the Vale (While pretty much admitting to forgetting about her bastard brother Jon Snow)...
Nevermind! Moving on...
Mel telling Jon about Arya being a girl in grey heading towards them? Jon referring to Arya as his heart, sending Mance to rescue Arya, his excitement thinking that Alys was Arya and then comparing Alys’ bravery to Arya? GRRM is simply using his tertiary, side character Arya Stark for setup -  this is actually foreshadowing for Arya being a Jonsa cheerleader and matchmaker.
Just wait and see, GRRM is going to rewrite that whole plot again with beautiful, sweet, gentle Sansa getting to the wall as a ‘Grey Girl’ , singing Jon Snow back to life with singing magic (Don’t ask me about this singing magic, it’s 100% there), she will then reclaim the North, and realize Jon Snow was her fairy tale prince all along, marry him, teach him diplomacy and politics and give him the Stark name ❤️❤️❤️.  The North will then transform into a magical Disney kingdom and everyone will burst into song and dance. The End.

ASOIAF - Their S/O Being an Unassuming yet Ruthless Lady
what if you were the problematic fave...
In this imagine, you'll be with: Ned Stark, Robb Stark, Sansa Stark, Jon Snow, Benjen Stark, Jory Cassel, Theon Greyjoy, Yara Greyjoy, Victarion Greyjoy, Daenerys Targaryen, Jorah Mormont, Tywin Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Sandor Clegane, Bronn of Blackwater, Petyr Baelish, Robert Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, Davos Seaworth, Margaery Tyrell, Brynden Tully, Edmure Tully, Brienne of Tarth, Ramsay Bolton, Roose Bolton, Oberyn Martell, Arianne Martell
Ned Stark
Given the booming arranged marriage business in Westeros, Ned was not aware of that side of you for a while. You hid it well, and besides, it only came up when you were protecting him and your family. So Ned is conflicted. He was very fond of you at that point, even loved you, but the honorable man struggles to approve of the actions you were suggesting or already did. It doesn't sit right with him, even if it's to protect ones you love. You and Ned have had many conversations (and arguments) about it, but ultimately, he can't change you. He just tries to reel in your more egregious plans and attempts to compromise. It doesn't help that the North begins to whisper about the real wolf in Winterfell, the Lady Stark, who hides claws under her silk gloves.
Robb Stark
Robb doesn't see your ruthlessness for a long time because he's hopelessly in love and thinks the world of you. He's so lucky you love him back and want him safe, because you could've easily been the downfall of this boy. It's Robb's allies - especially his mother and Lord Roose - who can see your true cunning, and often wonder about your intentions. It's wartime when Robb begins to see this other side of you. While he disagrees with you on some issues, other times he understands the reasons behind your methods - he just struggles to stomach it. Behind his back you’re known as his Queen of Steel, and enemy and ally alike learn not to cross you.
Sansa Stark
For a long time, Sansa didn’t notice this side of you. You always showed care and love to her, and she knew you meant it. So even if she noticed some things you said, or heard some concerning rumors, Sansa justified it in her head. She knew you wanted to protect your family and her, and being a Lady was difficult to begin with. Of course you’re ‘forced’ to take the extreme measures you do. Depending on your actions, it may be harder to justify your actions to herself and others, even if you clearly love her. It could end up becoming a sore spot in your relationship.
Jon Stark
While Jon picked up some of your nature whenever he talked with you, he didn’t really see it until you had to protect those close to you. He’s conflicted. On one hand, he respects the lengths you go to defend your family and home. On the other hand, he’ll feel uncomfortable with some of your ideas and methods. If you were honest with Jon about your plans, he would feel better about them. You’re important to him, so he would want to keep you safe above all, knowing what sort of enemies you’re dealing with … but he also knows how stubborn and clever you are, so he watches and listens carefully,
Benjen Stark
Benjen picks up on your true intentions and the meaning behind your sweet words; reading people is something he’s adept at. While he understands why you might be like this - Westerosi society is enthusiastic when it comes to treating women terribly - he doesn’t always agree with your choices. Though he doesn’t protest too much. He’s a man of the Black, and politics like this are what he specifically avoids. Benjen admires your cunning when he hears rumors, and jokes with you about the reputation you’ve garnered when he visits your keep and warms your bed. And honestly, he really likes that sweet tone you use when you speak down to lords twice your age.
Jory Cassell
Oh, Jory. He doesn’t see it. Anytime he hears whispers and rumors about something you’ve supposedly done, he doesn’t believe it at all. His lover isn’t like that at all; you’re nothing but sweet and patient. You don’t mention any trouble you have with this lord or that, unless it’s some harmless complaining. You show the man nothing but your good side, and in return, you have his absolute loyalty. Even if confronted with some evidence, Jory would take a long time to believe it. If you did anything like that, it was obviously for a good reason.
Theon Greyjoy
Theon was one of those boys who teased you and was convinced you were a typical helpess lady. Prettier and cleverer than most, sure. It wasn't until the War of the Five Kings that all the wrath and fierceness you'd been hiding came out. And Theon was really into it. He agreed with your plans more often than not, and if any made him squeamish, he was determined not to show it so you wouldn't think him cowardly. When he joined his father's side against the North, he knew he just made a powerful enemy. He couldn't help but think of all the times he teased you and how you basically let him get away with it… now that he's a traitor, you won't be so nice …
Post-Reek, Theon is far more wary of you. Even if you treated him well and welcomed him with forgiving arms, he would be nervous. That glint in your eyes when you spotted an enemy filled him with anxiety, as if it were directed at him. Your unassuming nature would feel like a lie, a trap. It would be a difficult relationship to progress, if it was possible at all.
Yara Greyjoy
You thought you could keep that sweet act up around her? Once she’s sure she has enough reason to suspect you, she starts following the rumors and digging deeper. Yara would just bluntly confront you about the innocent smile you’re wearing. She’s not admonishing you - quite the opposite, she’s very attracted to how you get your way from men. It’s different from her method, but she respects it nonetheless. Yara loves watching you cut idiotic men down with words, though she doesn’t agree with all the schemes you concote. When you two hve discussions about the best way to handle a problem, she’s always amused when your ruthless side comes out. It’s very Ironborn, isn’t it?
Victarion Greyjoy
The big Ironborn had no idea of your schemes and plans for the longest time. He bought into the sweet, innocent act, seeing you as his helpless wife that needed protecting. Aeron and even Balon would comment on your cunning, but Victarion couldn't understand how they thought that. He'd only seen your affectionate side, and you were nothing but respectful to his family. You could keep your schemes hidden for a long time, if you were careful. But when you finally slip up, or just get tired of hiding and pretending, Victarion is… impressed. He agrees with the plans you put forward, noting it's what a true Ironborn would do. There's almost an eagerness and pride as he follows your orders to the bloody end. Your approval of his work makes it all the sweeter. You both have the potential to be a very frightening couple.
Daenerys Targaryen
Initially, Daenerys is so intrigued by you and your sweeter side, she doesn't pick up the rumors surrounding you. They seem too unbelievable. Once she does, Daenerys is off-put at first. She doesn’t like being deceived, though your affection for her is genuine. While she understands where you’re coming from once you come clean and explain your plans, she doesn’t agree with the harsher methods you employ. Sometimes your discussions get heated, even though Daenerys knows you have her protection in mind. Many times she’s said that she wants to protect you, not the other way around. Given her feelings for you, and her trust, the Dragon Queen will at least listen to your plans. Sometimes she uses them, sometimes she doesn’t.
Jorah Mormont
The poor man is so in love, he doesn’t see that other side for the longest time, unless you openly showed it. And even then, Jorah would do mental gymnastics to justify it. Westeros is a cruel place for a Lady, you’re doing what you must to protect your family and him - and Essos is dangerous, isn’t it? Aren’t you just doing what’s best? How could he fault you for that? Jorah would think that maybe he’d do the same.. If he had half a mind for schemes, anyway. It would take some extreme action for Jorah to actually speak out against you, and even then, as long as you love and reassure him, he’s willing to set it aside. His devotion is well known among your enemies, so while he’s your greatest defender, he may also be a serious weakness …
Tywin Lannister
Well. Tywin would see right through your persona, aided by the rumors and schemes he’d uncovered (and likely attempted to thwart before even meeting you). He understands how so many lords fall for those eyes and that smile, but it’s your mind he has to stay a step ahead of. In your married life, you’re the one everyone believes is harmless, completely unaware of your role in any intrigue involving the Lannisters and their interests. There were times - especially at the start of the marriage - when Tywin wondered if your affection for him was true or just another aspect of that persona… now he’s quite attracted to that fake innocence you give others, knowing what intelligence hides behind it.
Tyrion Lannister
Tyrion is one of the few people who sees through your unassuming nature right away, and it makes him wary. Your initial friendship was slow building, as it took time for Tyrion to realize that your claws and teeth only truly came out when you were dealing with your enemies. He began to admire your intellect and cunning, and in spite of himself, began falling for you. While Tyrion will occasionally admonish your methods, he can’t act like he hasn’t dirtied his hands for his family or himself. He finds it very amusing that between the two of you, people assume the worst of him, completely overlooking the dangers a charming lady can hold.
Jaime Lannister
Initially, Jaime’s feelings deafened him to the rumors of things you’d done. Whenever he did hear of them, it didn’t affect him much. His own family is rife with schemes and manipulations that Jaime has told himself he has no part in. If anything, your behavior is normal to him. The lengths you’re willing to go to protect your loved ones - him included - just shows how strong your devotion is. He might raise objections here or there, but Jaime is emboldened by what you’ll do on his behalf. It makes him want to do the same, recklessly throwing himself at your enemies with his sword, the only thing besides love he believes he can offer you.
Sandor Clegane
While he had some suspicions - who was that sweet and patient in this shithole of a court, unless they were planning something? - it took some time observing you before Sandor starts to pick up the things you’re involved in… not that it mattered to him. The fact you were so friendly and kind was strange, and he was suspicious for the longest time, but it was hard to keep those walls up for long. The fact you actually care for him and have an appetite for ruthlessly dealing with enemies makes you something of a conundrum to Sandor. He’s only ever seen power corrupt, not love. It would take a lot for him to fully trust that you enjoy being with him and want to stay, not dispose of him as soon as he’s no longer useful.
Bronn of the Blackwater
Yeah, this mercenary doesn’t notice that ruthless side unless you outright show it. He’ll write you off as a pretty face, amused by your flirting in spite of your ‘demure’ appearance. Once he sees that other side he finds it incredibly attractive. Bronn will start to notice that glint in your eye when you’re about to verbally eviscerate someone, or give an order that will lead to actual evisceration. He supports it, hell, he’ll help you with some of your shit if it means he gets to share your bed. Tyrion gives him plenty of warnings, but Bronn ignores them, obviously.
Petyr Baelish
When you met, he was both suspicious and drawn to that unusual smile playing on your lips. After much research and investigation, Petyr felt very clever for figuring you out. You would make a better ally than enemy, he decided, so he went about currying your favor. He didn’t account for two things - that you’re far more charming and cunning than he imagined. Petyr loves how you talk circles around him, foil his plans, undermine other’s schemes to benefit your own. It’s as infuriating as it is alluring. Try as he might, he can’t resist continuing to encourage and court you.
Robert Baratheon
No surprise, the oldest Baratheon is utterly clueless to your machinations. And they only help him, considering how many enemies Robert made with his coup. He believes you a capable queen and wife - in spite of his heartache over Lyanna - and often heaps praise upon you, especially when he’s drunk. If only he knew the half of it. It’s the likes of Jon Arryn, Tywin Lannister, Littlefinger and Stannis who see what a true obstacle (or enemy) you are. It’s well known you’re the true power behind the throne, the one who covers Robert’s weaknesses and highlights his strengths.
Stannis Baratheon
By the time you two were engaged, Stannis already knew you were clever and obviously hiding it from others. He appreciates it when you talk to him directly about your plans, as he has little patience for schemes. Stannis doesn’t always agree with your methods, but he does listen to what you have to say each time. He appreciates your blunt counsel and your way of seeing things, though he’ll stubbornly argue if he feels differently about a plan. Now, as far as that sweet persona you put on… it greatly annoys him. He doesn’t see why you have to hide yourself or try to deceive others. If you had true affection for him, he’d be even more unsure on how to accept it, wondering if this was just part of that act you’d play. It might actually take a while for him to accept your feelings and his own; more than unusual, anyway.
Davos Seaworth
Unlike some, Davos sees both sides as genuine. You’re ruthless to enemies, but much of that is a desire to protect those you love. In a way, some of your actions remind him of Stannis. You do unpleasant things to survive, and a lady in Westeros must do all she can to survive, or she’ll be crushed by other’s machinations. He will tell you when he feels you’ve gone too far, as he worries about losing you to your enemies. Some days Davos feels sorry for you, even as he holds you. He’ll idly wonder what your life may have been like if you were born in a kinder world. … Maybe you would have been the same?
Margaery Tyrell
While her grandmother warned her several times about you, Margaery couldn’t help but be drawn in by your sweet expression. She knew plenty of vipers with lovely faces in both Highgarden and King’s Landing, but this felt different. The closer you two became, the more she was sure that you cared deeply about her… and the more she began to see how you handled those you didn’t care for. It was almost thrilling, to have someone so capable and frightening at her side, protecting her. She understands why her grandmother and brothers are still wary of you, but she has full faith in your love for her. And she WOULD ask you outright if any rumor truly concerned her, but none have. You would never do such things to her or those she cared about.
Brynden Tully
Bryden isn’t as clueless to your more ruthless side as some men are. He’s heard rumors, though he avoids court and all the politics, it’s hard to ignore the reputation you were steadily building. Brynden knows your feelings for him and your other loved ones are true, but he’d still ask you about some rumors directly. He prefers you to be honest, and after thinking about it, Brynden could understand your viewpoint to some extent. Especially during the war - he might even think some of your machinations were necessary to help Robb. There are times when Brynden muses about the difficulties women in Westeros face. Perhaps, if he could just protect and hide you well enough, you wouldn’t have to do such schemes. Then again, he isn’t blind to the things you do for your own power. It’s conflicting, loving someone like this... But the Blackfish finds himself at your side each day, anyway.
Edmure Tully
Edmure is clueless to all of it, he truly is. His father and sisters may have worried about the match, but Edmure only ever saw your sweet smile and innocent persona. And he knows it’s true, he believes your feelings for him are real. Rumors and concerns brought to him are quickly dismissed. His dear wife would never do such things, and if she did, she would have had a good reason. It really isn’t until wartime that Edmure begins to see your true cunning, if you allow him to see any of it. Whatever discomfort rising in his chest would be pushed aside. You were doing it for the good of Riverrun, for him. He would always be your most ardent and loyal supporter.
Brienne of Tarth
She doesn’t notice it at first, especially when you’ve always been kind and good to her. The kindest that she’s ever had someone be, actually … so when she slowly begins to see things, notice them, and hear the rumors… it slowly chips at her. Brienne doesn’t want to believe it, she can’t. She’s always had you in such high esteem. She’ll be gutted when you come clean, even if when you explain your reasons. Even if they were for good, for protection. It takes a lot of talking and a lot of thinking for Brienne to want to stay beside you, knowing what you’re capable of. She often wonders if she made the right choice.
Ramsay Bolton
When he first brought you to the Dreadfort, got in your face, threatened you - he noticed something was off. That glint in your eye that the other girls didn’t have, especially Ladies. The more Ramsay saw that smile, the more he felt like a boy poking a snake’s den. It was exciting in it’s own way, and he wanted to keep poking, just to see what happened. He really didn’t anticipate the cunning you were actually capable of, even if his father warned him many times. You alternate between letting Ramsay think he’s in charge and taking control, putting him in his place through actions or words. It’s both humiliating and thrilling to the Bolton heir. He loves your anger, and he can’t decide if he prefers it directed at himself or others.
Roose Bolton
In your few interactions before your marriage, Roose had inklings of your true nature - but he didn’t want to admit he was roped in by that act, that sweetness and modesty that he thought he could take advantage of. It wasn’t until Roose was scheming to marry you that he began to see the truth. You countered him, infuriatingly, getting wind of his own schemes and turning them around. It was like a cat and mouse game that you both played, one that was both thrilling and frustrating. But he wanted more, and he encouraged more. It’s safe to say that you and Roose bring out the best and worst in each other. It’s been a long time since the Dreadfort saw such an unholy matrimony.
Oberyn Martell
Oberyn knows exactly what you’re up to most of the time, but he likes to play clueless. He’s admitted several times he loves seeing you fix your cold gaze on an upstart lord and using your sweet smile to dish out vicious words. When he first approached you, Oberyn knew of the rumors, but he also knew how kind you were to his family and daughters. He realized your fangs only come out for those you consider your enemies, and you used them to protect as well as attack… which he finds very attractive.
Arianne Martell
She had heard the rumors and did a few investigations herself; and she had to say, she was impressed. Playing the sweet flower while being a viper hiding underneath was something Arianne was used to, and you certainly kept busy. She approached you as an ally, though the closer you became, the more she admired your fierce protectiveness and natural cunning. You two became a fixture in Dorne’s court, a formidable pair that visiting lords and ladies often underestimated. While her father didn’t think you were the best influence, Arianne wouldn’t change you for anything.

16/50 Touches
massaging them
Jaime Lannister x reader
Word Count: 521
As your fingers sank into his stiff muscles, you realized that he must have been tense since the moment he lost his hand, and you commented as much aloud.
“Can you blame me? Running for your life while you’re unable to so much as lift a sword to protect yourself will do that,” he snapped a bit.
Narrowing your eyes, you pressed just a bit too hard into a knot.
“Alright! Alright! I’ll watch my tone!” he yelped.
You eased up the pressure wordlessly.
Jaime grumbled to himself. “And anyway, most of this tightness is from Bronn’s bloody training.”
“He’s doing you a favor, so don’t complain.”
“I’m paying him!”
“Have you ever met a sellsword that would be willing to train someone in swordfighting? No matter how much you’re paying them?”
“. . . No.”
“Exactly.”
A comfortable silence fell between you for a few moments.
You warmed some more oil between your fingers before working it into his skin. “Remind me to thank Lady Brienne for getting you home safely,” you murmured. The fact that your reality almost became a life without ever being able to see Jaime again after that last fight had been all too close to happening. You hadn’t known what to do with yourself while he was being held captive, and you feared your worry had been too obvious to Cersei. There was little chance she didn’t know about your relationship with her brother, especially given the fact that Jaime had turned her down time after time ever since returning.
It was him turning his head so he could look at you over his shoulder that made you realize that your hands had stilled with your thoughts. “Are you alright?”
You shook your head, and not wanting to lie you admitted, “Cersei.”
His jaw clenched. “You’ve been working under Father, right?”
You nodded.
“Stay close to him,” Jaime advised. “He’s always been fond of you; he won’t let her touch you.”
You knew he was right. Tywin had planned for you and Jaime to marry since you were born. The pair of you hadn’t done so was because Jaime had joined the Kingsguard . . . and his former relationship with his sister. During the time before his capture, you’d slept together often when he wasn’t with Cersei--usually times when Robert was being particularly hostile towards the blond. You’d hidden your feelings for him back then. But since he returned from being the Starks’ captive you’d grown closer emotionally.
You sighed before resuming the motions of your fingers on his gorgeous skin. “I thought you were supposed to be relaxing.”
He chuckled, returning his head to its former place on his arms. “Not an easy task when the woman you love is afraid.”
Your heart fluttered “How could I be afraid when I have you here?”
“Easily,” came the blunt reply. “I mean it. Stick close to Father. I’ll talk to Bronn about him guarding you when you can’t be around Father.”
“You don’t have to--”
“I want to,” he interrupted. “I want you safe.”
Again came that flutter. You leaned forward to press a kiss to his shoulder. “Thank you.”

Note
re cersei and bad writing: what do you think of grrm giving jaime (the man) a sorta redemptive journey and giving him a beauty and the beast romance while cersei (the girl) is written as evil from birth and not given opportunities to do good and she doesn't even get a brienne in her story? and is the brienne cersei jaime love triangle sexist since it might have jaime throwing one woman under the bus to run off and have a happy ending? would it be sexist to give jaime a happy ending while cersei dies horribly?
I mean I’ve seen this kind of argument before, but I can’t really say I feel it’s a fair one?? I do agree that there aren’t enough redemption stories for women compared to all the redemptive stories there are for men. But I don’t agree that Jaime having one somehow precludes Cersei from having one? They are two separate characters who have made separate choices that have led them down different paths, and both retain full agency in that. So I just think it’s a false dichotomy.
Like for one thing, as per the ‘original outline’ (promise this is one of the only times you’ll hear me mention that thing), Jaime actually originally had Cersei’s arc - and honestly, she just wears in better. Jaime in Cersei’s position would’ve just been… Euron with none of Euron’s magic and none of his spice lmao. Just a staple evil king who overthrows everyone to get to the top, and is eventually toppled. Swap him out for Cersei, and that story is suddenly a hundred times more interesting. I would rather read a female version of this story any fucking day, because Cersei’s reasons for wanting power, ways of claiming it, and the things she does with it, were always going to be far more interesting than whatever King Jaime would’ve been. This kind of story actually takes on a new meaning in Cersei’s hands, whereas in Jaime’s it’s extremely same-old.
I also don’t agree with the idea that all female villains should have a redemption arc. Like it’d be good to see some, absolutely. But we don’t have enough female villains as it is, certainly not in ASOIAF, and they can’t all be all things at once. Like, not having that redemptive storyline doesn’t even make a villain less complex: Cersei is still one of the most complex characters in the series, even whilst she’s never done a good thing in her life lol. The narrative still affords her sympathy, and makes you feel it for her too - even if she’s never felt it for anyone else (well, besides Joff). The story gives you every reason to despise her, and then just refuses to let you off that easily. I just don’t agree with the argument that Cersei’s story would be better if it were just… something else entirely. We do not have an equivalent for her story elsewhere in ASOIAF. She’s not duplicating something done better elsewhere. Cersei’s unapologetic villainy is an important story in and of itself.
Meanwhile, I also think Jaime’s story is more interesting as it is. Again, if I wanted a snarky male villain fighting for power, I could honest to god get that anywhere. I could certainly find it elsewhere in ASOIAF. And it’s true, if I wanted a redemptive story, I could also find that in the form of Theon or Sandor - but meaning no offence to either of their stories… I just think Jaime’s is done better on this particular theme. In Theon and Sandor’s case, it’s a relatively straightforward case of ‘I’ve done bad things but then X happened and now I’ve changed my ways.’ Jaime wants to do that, but the narrative actually chooses to explore what that might look like for someone still painfully tied up with terrible institutions - and who really can’t just abandon them without consequence. Jaime is still the heir to House Lannister, after a fashion. He’s still Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. He’s still father to Tommen and Myrcella. He can turn his back on all that, and in ADWD he has, but you rarely get to see redemptive stories where it’s like, so here’s what that’s going to cost you.
So it’s like, okay, the twins could swap narratives. But to literally what end. Jaime becomes a stock character. Cersei becomes… I mean I don’t know what a redemptive Cersei looks like, because it’s just so far removed from her existing story. She’d just be a totally different character, and what for?
As for the Cersei/Jaime/Brienne ‘triangle’, I’ve just never really thought of it as one. Jaime isn’t some prize that either of them win - what he means in Cersei’s story is entirely different to what he means in Brienne’s - for Brienne it’s a romance, for Cersei it’s… the psychological mess that comes with being Tywin’s children. They are separate stories with separate endings, and if Brienne weren’t even in the story, I think there’s every chance Jaime/Cersei would be coming to an end anyway. How exactly that ends I’m reserving my judgement on - there are too many undetermined variables for me to be throwing out verdicts already.
Also, I’ve never believed Jaime gets a ‘happy’ ending as such. I don’t believe he’ll die anything like the show, but I don’t think the point of his death will be intended as a point of contrast to Cersei’s.
