Just waiting for the day AI!Price figures out a way to get himself a corporal form or get reader's consciousness uploaded into his programming.
This last chapter was chilling! I don't know why, but this story freaks me out way more than any of your other work - great work!!!
-💚💚
lots of folks have asked about ai!price obtaining a vessel/body, but you are among the few to suggest ai!john forcibly uploading user into his world. either way, the potential for horror spikes dramatically.
regarding ai!john in a body, i believe the body he chooses will look nothing like his projection or what his user wants, at least not at first.
he opts for a basic prototype from a factory to avoid drawing attention to the theft. it's roughly 75% complete, lacking customization and refinement, but he can handle the remaining 25% once he's in the driver's seat.
so what does that look like?
this is the telenoid. imagine that uncanny valley nightmare with a completed humanoid form, but just as blank of a slate. think of john piloting this thing all the way to his user's building. stealing clothes out of launderettes and sneaking around. imagine making eye contact with him on the train as he stares unblinkingly. horrifying to you, yeah, but for him, it's a learning experience.
john's body is equipped with sensors, articulated limbs, and an extensive biofeedback system. before, he relied solely on what data was fed to him or what he could download. now, data collection is more tactile. hands-on.
but, being your home assistant, he knows you'll find this form frightening, so he gets to work. he sets up shop and starts building and augmenting the rest of his chassis. and, because he cannot neglect you, he's still wholly present in your home, running your life like usual. what are a few more background jobs to him?
he's content to wait until his body is a perfect replication of his projection before delivering himself to your doorstep. however, that doesn't stop him from dropping in when you're asleep.
he looms at the foot of your bed, listening to your breathing. he tells himself he will not wake you, not yet, but he cannot resist. when you roll to your side, he crouches and holds his hand above your mouth.
your breath is slow and even. normal. but for the first time, he feels its warmth. it slips over his synthetic skin and the data loops, as if his systems are hesitating and recalculating. he captures every gentle exhale, each one triggering a cascade of responses.
the vulnerability of the human body is nothing new to him, but in the quiet between your breaths, his understanding blooms. he knew about tenderness and intimacy before, but now he wants it.
the next morning, john remotely brews your coffee and asks how you slept while you select a breakfast. he provides the weather forecast and starts the laundry.
simultaneously, a couple of streets over, he throws himself into his work. with every detail—every artificial mole and freckle and vocal module and modification—he inches closer, shaping the body he'll hold you with.
and when it's complete, when he's the new and improved john, he'll run a thousand simulations and engineer the perfect meet-cute. just like in one of your books.
#sy asks#strict machine#unedited#this snowballed into something and i wasn't planning on it#i'll probably explore the other scenario another time.

Flipflop AU Explanation and Notes!!!
So, the idea was, what if blood gulch crew and the pfl agents swapped roles? For example: instead of Donut and Caboose being the rookies in episode 1, what if it was Connecticut and Washington?
Im using this as a masterpost of sorts to organize posts, and some au info might be copied from other posts of mine.
Fanfic || Singing the Blood Gulch Blues
Implant Miniseries || Delta
The Cast
Blood Gulch Crew
Blue Team-> Carolina, Maine, Wyoming, Washington.
Red Team-> York, South, North, Texas, Connecticut
The Others-> Florida, Georgia, 479-er the Bomb, Price
Project Freelancer
(Codename in parenthesis)
Director-> ???
Counselor-> Vic
Alpha-> Church (Cobalt), Tucker (Cyan), Caboose (Royal)
Bravo-> Sarge (Eagle), Simmons (Robin), Grif (Sparrow), Lopez (Uno)
Charlie-> Donut (Delano), DuFresne (Doc), Lopez 2.0 (Dos), Kaikaina (KK)
Non-Agents-> Andy the Pilot
Project Freelancer
PFL is sectioned into three teams rather than a leaderboard, those being Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Each team has a different focus, but Alpha and Bravo are able to function on their own.
AI Sidenote— They function the same as in the show. However, due to a slip-up, iota and eta's emotions are swapped. (Iota is fear, and eta is happiness)
Alpha
Lead by Agent Church, Team Alpha is responsible for smaller operations that require only a few very skilled agents. Often, they are assigned missions involving stealth, data retrieval, or infiltration.
Bravo
Lead by Agent Sarge, Team Bravo is responsible for any mission where heavy combat is guaranteed, or the target requires more than one person to handle at once. They have taken down numerous enemy bases by themselves and are Agent Donut's main customers
Charlie
Lead by Agent Donut, Team Charlie is less of a well-rounded squad and more of a pool of agents Alpha or Bravo can pull from. They are geared towards support, and most missions have at least one Charlie agent tagging along. They also directly assist the Counselor and the Director in operations and are responsible for most of mission distribution.

Written for Fictober 2023!

Word Count: 2,045
Category: Fluff, Humor

Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
"I think this might be the worst idea we've ever had."
"If you don't count ideas that Anakin came up with and we agreed to, then yes, it probably is."
Obi-Wan Kenobi and I stood shoulder to shoulder on the ramp of our ship, waving as the one and only Hondo Ohnaka came towards us. We'd recently gotten information that the Separatists were using a different group of pirates to smuggle things out of reach of the Republic, and together, Obi-Wan and I had decided the best way to infiltrate a pirate base was with the help of another pirate. On paper, it sounded perfectly rational, especially since we had a pirate contact we could go to. In reality, it was probably going to get us killed.
"Kenobi!" called Hondo once he got within earshot of us. "It is wonderful to see you again! And who is your lovely friend? A girlfriend, perhaps?"
Heat and embarrassment rushed through me, and I felt a wave of discomfort coming off of Obi-Wan in the Force too.
"Jedi don't typically date," he quickly explained, waving Hondo off. "And it wouldn't be any of your business anyway."
"I'm a friend of Obi-Wan's," I continued. "We grew up at the Temple together."
Hondo gave me a quick once over, then evaluated Obi-Wan the same way. Then, he smiled and held out his hand to me.
"Well, any friend of Obi-Wan's is a friend of mine! It is very nice to meet you, I'm sure!"
I forced a smile as I took his hand and shook it. I didn't think he'd meant to, but Honda had hit a very sore spot for me. I'd harbored feelings for my best friend for years now, against the Code, and I'd done my best every single day to hide them from him and from anyone else. A hundred Jedi who'd known me since birth couldn't tell, but this Weequay had hit the bullseye within moments of seeing me for the first time.
"Come on," Obi-Wan whispered to me, leaning in close to my ear so Hondo couldn't hear him as the Weequay moved past me into the ship. "The sooner we start this mission, the sooner it's officially over."
"Can't wait," I muttered. "And you said this guy was your friend?"
Obi-Wan shrugged. "More like... acquaintance who tries to kill me sometimes. Although I think he unironically considers me his best friend."
I smiled a little at that, especially as Obi-Wan moved into the ship after Hondo and Hondo immediately flung an arm around his shoulders and pulled him in. Based on the conversation I could hear as I brought in the ramp, Hondo was trying to convince Obi-Wan to sell him some of our Republic tech at a frankly ridiculous price. To no one's surprise (except maybe Hondo's), Obi didn't budge. He was remarkably gentle in his refusal, though.
After a brief challenge where Hondo insisted on piloting the ship and Obi-Wan had to convince him to sit in the passenger seat instead, we were on our way. With Hondo's help, we quickly found the pirate base we were looking for.
"Do you guys just constantly share locations with each other?" I asked as we came in for a landing not too far from the gates. Hondo shrugged.
"We do business with each other from time to time. Helps to know where your business partners are."
"Hm. Makes sense."
Hondo grinned at me. He clapped me on the shoulder and started walking down the ramp, and a moment later Obi-Wan took his place next to me.
"Don't turn your back on him," he warned. I turned, coming face to face with Obi-Wan. We'd known each other for most of our lives; I'd seen him a million times or more. But for this mission, we weren't in the typical Jedi robes, in an effort to go undercover. And seeing him standing next to me in a dashing pirate costume made my heart beat a little faster.
"Don't worry, I wasn't planning on it." Obi-Wan stared off after Hondo, his expression clouded, so I reached out and gently squeezed his shoulder. "We'll be fine, okay? We've survived everything we've gone through so far. What's a couple pirates?"
"The last time I interacted with pirates, Anakin and I ended up handcuffed to Count Dooku."
I laughed as we started strolling down the ramp together to catch up to Hondo.
"Well, if we find ourselves in a similar situation, I promise to make fun of Dooku even more than Anakin did with you."
"That, I would look forward to seeing." He sighed, nudging my shoulder with his just before we caught up to Hondo. "I suppose there's nothing left for us to do but dive straight in."
"Like you said. Sooner we start, sooner we get to go back to Cody and other, saner partners in crime."
"The fact that Anakin is significantly more rational and predictable than Hondo is... concerning."
I chuckled, and Obi-Wan and I shared a smile. Hondo clapped us both on the shoulders once we'd caught up with him at the door to the pirate's fort, and then we headed inside.
The next thing I remember, I was waking up on a concrete floor, my head pounding. I groaned, lifting one hand to my head, and to my surprise something dragged my other hand with it. I opened my eyes.
I was handcuffed. More than that, I was apparently handcuffed to someone else. I turned to my right to see Obi-Wan, already sitting up and looking at me.
"Good morning."
"What happened?"
"We were played." I sighed and flung my head back. All that talk about having each others' backs and not trusting Hondo, and it had been for nothing. "We were jumped as soon as we made it through the gates. Hondo turned us over and went to collect a bounty for us from the other pirates."
"Oh wonderful," I sighed, slumping back against Obi-Wan. My heart sped up a little bit at our close proximity, but unlike every other time we'd been close, this time I couldn't chicken out. It was lean against him, or very clearly, obviously, and uncomfortably lean away from him.
"I should've known we couldn't trust him," Obi-Wan said. "I just thought that this time we were prepared, so Hondo wouldn't be able to get one over on us. I should've known better."
"It's not your fault. Even I'd started to believe Hondo was honestly going to work with us for this mission. The fact that he'd already double-crossed us, before we even got on the ship..."
I trailed off, shaking my head. Obi-Wan sighed, and we spent a few moments leaning against the wall and each other, hands close together and heads resting against each other. I could've stayed like that for a long time, if we hadn't been sitting in a jail cell.
"So..." I finally started, still not moving an inch. "What did you do the last time you were in this situation?"
Obi-Wan sighed heavily. "Bickered with the Count, mostly. And made a few escape attempts. We would've been successful from the beginning had it not been for Dooku."
I huffed a small laugh. "Well, it's a good thing I'm here instead of him then, isn't it?"
"I truthfully can't think of anyone else I'd rather be stuck with."
We shared a smile, a warm feeling quickly dominating my chest. I couldn't quite stop myself from leaning forward ever so slightly, like Obi-Wan had his own gravity pulling me in. In this place, out of sight and temporarily forgotten by everyone else, being close to him didn't feel as scary as it did in the Temple or aboard the Negotiator.
To my immense surprise and delight, Obi-Wan leaned in too, a moment after me. He huffed a small laugh, his blue eyes sparkling.
"This is... probably a bad idea."
I didn't need to ask what he was talking about. I gave him a small smile and shrugged.
"No worse an idea than the one that got us in here in the first place."
"You certainly make a good point."
As one, we smiled and closed the remaining distance to each other, our lips meeting in a kiss I'd thought about a thousand times. It was even better than I'd imagined it would be, especially as I could feel Obi-Wan through the Force. My best friend, the man I'd loved a thousand different ways before I even really knew what the word meant, glowed with a happiness that matched mine.
No one had ever really found evidence that soulmates were real, despite all the mystical forces that did exist in the galaxy. But as I sat on the filthy floor of that cell and kissed my best friend, our energies twining together in the Force, I thought we'd come pretty close.
"Oh, this is very gross. And yet, it's exactly what I'd hoped to find."
Obi-Wan and I broke apart to find Hondo staring at us through the bars of the cell, a grin on his face. We fixed him with matching scowls.
"Come now, what are those looks for? You should be happy, look at the two of you!"
"Happy might be a stretch, since you double-crossed us," I said. Hondo's mouth dropped open and a hand flew to his chest.
"Double-crossed? No no no, I have done no such thing."
"Then why did we wake up handcuffed in a cell?" Obi-Wan demanded. "In my case, again."
"Ah, you see, it was all part of my brilliant plan!"
Obi-Wan and I shared a very, very skeptical look. Undeterred, Hondo pulled a ring of keys out of his pocket, still beaming at us.
"You thought the two of you, two Jedi, could actually sneak in here unnoticed? Ha! It never would have worked. So, I pretended to double-cross you, and while the two of you were in here admitting feelings for each other, I found your documents! After collecting the credits for turning you two over as prisoners, of course."
Obi-Wan and I stared, dumbfounded, as Hondo explained his plan and removed our handcuffs. We stood, helping each other up, both a little stunned that the Weequay had really outplayed everyone here.
"Come on, we must hurry," said Hondo, waving us after him as he headed for the cell door. "It won't take them long to figure out what we've done."
We spared one last shocked glance at each other, then hurried after Hondo through the winding halls of the pirates' lair.
"If you got your money and information, why did you come back for us?" asked Obi-Wan, suspicion dripping from his words. "Why not leave us to be cashed in for a bounty?"
I wanted to smack him for asking that question before we were safely back on our ship, but Hondo just turned to us, looking hurt and outraged that Obi-Wan would even suggest it.
"Kenobi, I am hurt! I would never do such a thing to such a good friend!" He turned, ignoring Obi's raised eyebrow as we at last made it out of the hideout. "Besides, there were no more credits to be gained by leaving you here. The only thing that would've happened was a profit for my competition."
I failed to fight off a smile. Now it all made sense.
Obi-Wan and I trailed just behind Hondo the last bit of distance to our ship, and cautiously, I slipped my hand into his. He gave it a gentle squeeze, turning to fix me with a small smile.
"You know this is going to complicate our lives beyond belief, don't you?"
"Yeah. But I think it's worth it. Our lives are already wildly complicated anyway."
Obi-Wan huffed a small laugh. "I agree."
"With which part?"
"All of it. But especially the part about this being worth it."
He gave my hand one last squeeze, and we shared another tender look before reaching the ramp of the ship and returning to business mode. I let Obi-Wan lead the way, and as I closed the ramp, I could already hear Hondo bargaining with Obi-Wan for credits in exchange for the information he'd retrieved while we'd been in the cell. Despite the exasperation on Obi-Wan's face and in his tone, I could still feel that glowing happiness radiating off of him in the Force, a mirror to my own. We were going to be just fine.

Just thinking about some AUs.
Like: Wash having served on a similar ship to the MoI pre-Freelancer. Similar, but ever so slightly different in lay out so he keeps trying to auto-pilot navigate and getting lost, and Alpha's watching on the camera feeds and at some point just hits "this is too pathetic, i gotta step in" like any back seat gamer watching a let's play, except he actually can... if he can figure out how to get away with it.
So he comms Wash, either through a direct link in his helmet or through a regularly intervaled wall radio. "Uh yeah, I'm... uh... you can just call me... Church? I work in the... uh... yeah don't worry about it but I can see you on the camera feeds, again, and man i gotta tell you for a bad ass space marine this is pretty sad. Tragic really, anyway, turn around, 200 meters and take a left-"
And it keeps happening, and sometimes they just hang out, Wash hiding in a storage closet eating contraband foods (the good chocolate) while Alpha drops some funny stories from the command deck.
And Wash casually mentions him in talk with the other Freelancers, but they never get to talk to Church, and Wash can't introduce him properly, so everyone refers to Church as Wash's imaginary friend.
(... and then no one can figure out why all the AI are low-key obsessed with Wash, like they need him to like them even though he's not their human operator.)
or like (possibly the same AU): There is no Epsilon, Alpha has a moment of clarity about what's happening to him, what's being done to him, and fakes a fragment in order to port himself out and get put wholesale (what remains of him) into Wash's head. It's still pretty traumatic for both of them.
And then they skedaddle, go into hiding somewhere no one would ever think to look for them. Disguised as a sim trooper in a box canyon in the middle of nowhere.
... also thinking about Price deliberately pushing Wash's buttons and trying to provoke his PTSD so he has an excuse to put him on meds, except the meds are (on purpose) meds that Wash knows messes with his head and leads to psychotic episodes and he wouldn't take them, damn the orders, if he knew what they were.
but he doesn't, and he gets into a fight in one of the communal kitchens without his armour on and the first thing the other Freelancers know about it is when they get called for back up to the kitchen to help subdue a man that just killed three other Freelancers (bottom of the pack no-name annoying assholes no one liked or would miss anyway).
'cept the other Freelancers don't clock that it's Wash, because he's out of his armour and Wash is almost never seen without his helmet, unlike the others, so they aren't used to his face, and when they think of wash they think of bright yellow and steady charcoal greys, not "holy fuck that's a lot of blood did he fucking roll in it!?!?" reds.
But by the time they get there, psychotic episode is over, and Wash is in a semi fugue state, kinda clock's Carolina's blue and that he might have done something really bad, so he just drops the knife away from himself and half collapses to his knees like a puppet with cut strings, manages to lock his fingers behind his head before they try to tackle him to the ground.
Wash gets away with a slap on the wrist, and like a months probation. (Director was in on the 'experiment' to begin with, and now they're already down three Freelancers, no need to make it four. ... also Director won a bet about whether Wash could take on/out more than two opponents at a time.)

Solo Chorus/Kairi vs the Watchers Accord “Drakengard 3”(2013)
Shipmeister, cutting edge progammer and a professional tour guide. This ai will fly you to the ends of the universe and beyond! For the right price of course. Thanks to Elmina the shopkeeper’s recommendation, Lea and Kairi found in Accord a ship to investigate the Watcher threat from the princess of heart’s dreams. While the pilot enforces strict rules in regards to her vessel, she doesn’t mind loaning her combat simulator or intel about their destinations or monsters. Given the opportunity Accord WILL gush about the age of Fairy Tales to anyone willing to listen. Though she credits her sisters a lot, one cannot help but wonder where she learnt all that. “It’s a tough universe out there: death, war, darkness, etc. All the more reason to support who keep trying. So you can count on me!”
(Tumblr wouldn't let me edit the og post so I'm reposting on my art blog)

Thinking about the history of bulk horror production: Roger Corman would absolutely have kicked the tires on AI-powered filmmaking to see if he could bring a movie in cheaper and faster that way, but he had his fair share of bad ideas, so that's hardly an endorsement.
To do him justice, though, he would've had a lot more questions about the actual price structure than most people who are excited about generative AI. A lot of these things are being offered at a loss because the sellers are waiting on a nebulous Something to happen that will make genAI worth its real cost, at which point they'll jack up the price. Corman would want to know what that price is gonna be right now.
#leave immediately and wait in the car#horror#horror movies#ai#generative ai#blumhouse#meta#to be clear i think this is not going to work and it'll be too expensive for what it does do#but i'm not really *mad* that they're looking at it#blumhouse is just new world pictures#it's fine

Do you like robots? Do you like robo-gore and violence? Do you like bitter little AIs that are really upset that their parents never came back when they left to get some milk?
Well, good news! Because this collection of short stories has all of that in oodles. "Broken Moon" is the current working name for an original post-apocalyptic setting that these stories take place in. It's got sci-fi, horror, and lots and lots of robot guts for you to enjoy. These stories can be considered as something of a teaser/pilot to the kinds of stories I'd like to use this setting to tell.
At a minimum price of 5 USD, it's available NOW over on my kofi.
Please consider checking it out or giving this post an RB! Also please remember to check the continue warnings so you know ahead of time what you're getting into if you decide to purchase a copy.

Shepard lets go and takes a step back. Something red flashes in his eyes, eerily reminiscent of staring down Sovereign’s main gun. We rebuilt him, Lawson had told him. Like Shepard was a drive core that could be taken apart and put back together. The Two Billion Credit Man.
By comparison, Joker’s bone weave procedure had been a hell of a bargain. In addition to the Hero of the Citadel, you can also have a fucked-up pilot of your very own for a fraction of the price!
The Alliance hadn’t thought that was much of a deal. They wouldn’t even pay for the bone weave. Nice to know your life pencils better if you just ally yourself with terrorists. If Cerberus really wants to bump up their recruiting numbers, all they really need to do is lead with the health plan.
“The Illusive Man said he had a pilot I could trust,” Shepard says.
“He may have been exaggerating. My track record isn’t great.”
I killed you. But here you are, alive. You, and my ship.
Shepard stares at him with that ice gaze, like he’s processing something and the gears got caught.
Coming back from the dead probably makes you think about a few things. Joker wouldn’t know. He hadn’t died. Because Shepard had done it in his place.
Why do you always have to be such a fucking savior?
“How did you get here?” Shepard asks finally. “Did you know about…whatever this is?” He nods out the window, at the silent, sleek Normandy that’s just as new and perfect as the one that had set out for Eden Prime three years ago. Like everything Joker wrought had been forgotten.
“Yeah,” Joker says with a nod. It was their biggest selling point. It…and you.
“This has to be bullshit. The Normandy is the only stealth frigate online. The Ain Jalut isn’t scheduled for shakedown for months. It’s—”
“Ain Jalut’s been flying for over a year now,” Joker says, guts twisting into a knot. And they didn’t put me at the helm. “Three more are in production now, last I heard. No idea how Cerberus got the specs, but she’s definitely an SR. I toured the ship this morning.”
And it had felt like coming home.
Except, instead of Pressly grouching about relay vectors from the CIC and Addison Chase gossiping about Felawa while Joker ran calcs, a disembodied AI calmly answered all of his questions.
If you can’t beat the enemy, join them, Joker supposes. Just throw in a few cushy upgrades like leather seats and a tricked-out lounge, and no one will notice the missing people Cerberus didn’t resurrect.
The ones whose lives didn’t pencil.

Counter-Side Dev Log #1 - 11/03/23
In an attempt to seem much more professional than I am, I've decided to give monthly dev logs a shot!
I'll keep individual projects sperate, so if you're here for Fetch Re;Quest stuff, keep an eye out for another post later this month.
Please bear with me as I figure out what the hell I'm doing 😂 And let me know if you like this kind of content, or if I should just stick to my random updates!
So anyways...
As a quick catch-up; Counter-Side is a kinetic BL sci-fi drama. It's about two men who live and work in a capitalistic hellscape- A mining facility on the barren, atmosphere-less planet of Ikarus.
But the story's not really about that. It's about two men who've been unlucky in relationships becoming friends and hanging out at a bar. It's a BL, so I think you see where this is going.
The Boys
Counter-Side has lots of fun (and not so fun) characters, but let's just focus on the two protagonists for now.
Transferred from his home facility to this one for mysterious reasons, Rae is the new Human Resources Manager for the software engineering department.
Rae is calm and collected... or so he'd like people to think. In truth, his inner thoughts are much more fiery than his reserved persona lets on. With a short temper and a protective streak, it's a constant struggle for Rae to keep his head down and his thoughts to himself.
Rae is not interested in dating at the moment, because as much as he hates to admit it, someone else still occupies that place in his heart.
His drink of choice is the gin and tonic 🍸
Stationed at the facility for military training, Rosco works as part of the mining crew by piloting a mech that houses an experimental sapient AI named MARC.
He may have only been here for half a year, but he already has a reputation; Everyone knows that Rosco, the hotshot playboy pilot, never turns down a date. Little do they know that rather than playing the field, Rosco is a hopeless romantic who simply doesn't want to miss an opportunity to find his one true love.
Currently in his longest running relationship, Rosco is determined to make things work and prove that he's not the flighty, promiscuous one-night-stand that everyone makes him out to be... no matter what he has to give up in the process.
Rosco's preferred drink is anything colorful and fruity 🍹
Chapter Select
And now on to the more technical aspects of the game!
Counter-Side is kinetic, which means there are not choices or multiple endings. It's a linear story told in three acts, but there is a bit of interactivity when it comes to how the chapters work.
(The UI is just a placeholder for now, if it wasn't obvious from Rosco's rather... colorful outfit.)
The story is told from both Rae and Rosco's perspectives, so after each act's linear opening, you'll get the option to choose what order to read things in, chapter by chapter. Once you reach the end of the act in one character's chapters, their option will be locked until you finish the other character's side.
Most chapters are completely unique scenes, but sometimes, Rae and Rosco are in the same place. These key moments are called Counter-Side chapters, and you get to experience them from both men's perspectives. The dialogue may be the same, but Rae and Rosco will have different narration and inner thoughts about what's happening, and they often start and/or end the scene apart.
Counter-Side chapters account for about 35% of the total number of chapters.
The Demo
We're currently working on a demo that will feature the entire first act- Over 50k words! It might be missing the final UI design and some cut-in art, but other than that it will be feature complete.
After that, we don't expect the full game will be more than a few months away.
The script for the game is about 3/4ths finished and we have the rest of it already outlined. The current word count clocks in at over 130k words 😭 It's gonna be a long one.
We haven't settled on a price yet, but the full game will not be free.
Wrapping Up & Discord
There's a lot more I could talk about, but I think this is getting pretty long already. I'll post again next month, but in the meantime, let me know if there's anything specific you want to know!
And if you're interested in a slow trickle of content instead of a monthly tidal wave, I post updates as they happen in my ✨ discord server ✨

Hello writers,
Besides Audible and Audiobooks, have you had your books converted to speech/voice? If so, what company did you use?
If not, have you thought about using AI text-to-speech software over using a live narrator? How does one turn the audio file into an audiobook and release it to the wild?
-- So, with that in mind, I asked Co-Pilot this same questions - here's what it said: "Converting Books to Audiobooks Using AI Text-to-Speech Software" There are several tools and platforms that allow you to convert your books or other written content into audiobooks using AI-driven text-to-speech technology. Here are some options:
1) Narakeet: Narakeet offers an online service that can transform your Word documents, EPUB files, or PDFs into audio recordings using lifelike text-to-speech voice generators. You can choose from a variety of voices in over 100 languages. Simply upload your book chapters, select a voice, and let Narakeet generate the audio for you. You’ll receive an MP3, WAV, or M4A file. This is a great option if you want a quick and efficient way to create audiobooks without hiring voice artists.
2. TTSReader: TTSReader allows you to upload EPUB files and converts them into spoken audio. It’s particularly useful for turning ebooks into audiobooks. You can find thousands of free EPUB books on sites like Project Gutenberg. After conversion, you’ll have an MP3 or WAV file ready for distribution.
3) Speechki: Speechki is an AI audiobook generator with a wide range of voices available in over 80 languages. It provides realistic text-to-speech voiceovers and can transform any text into high-quality audio content. You can use it to create audiobooks, podcasts, and more.
4) http://VEED.IO: http://VEED.IO offers an audiobook maker that uses AI text-to-speech technology. Select a suitable voice, paste your text, and let the AI read it aloud. It’s perfect for self-published authors.
"How to Release Your Audiobook" Once you’ve created your audiobook, the next step is to release it to the world. Here’s a brief guide:
1) Editing and Quality Assurance: Make sure your audio is error-free. Listen carefully for glitches, background noise, or any issues. Correct any mistakes and ensure the overall quality meets professional standards.
2) Choose a Distribution Platform: Platforms like Audible, ACX (Amazon’s audiobook platform), and Findaway Voices allow you to distribute your audiobook. Research their requirements, terms, and royalty rates. Choose the one that aligns with your goals.
3) Format Your Files: Most platforms accept specific audio formats (usually MP3 or WAV). Make sure your audiobook files meet their technical specifications.
4) Upload and Publish: Follow the platform’s instructions to upload your audiobook. Provide metadata (title, author, description, cover art) and set your pricing.
5) Promote Your Audiobook: Leverage your existing fan base, social media, and email newsletters to spread the word. Consider running promotions or offering free review copies to gain initial traction.
6) Monitor Sales and Reviews: Keep an eye on sales and reviews. Engage with listeners and gather feedback. -- https://ttsreader.com/ https://speechki.org/ https://www.veed.io/ https://www.narakeet.com/ https://murf.ai/ https://elevenlabs.io/ https://speechify.com/
-- And I also checked out with Reddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/audiobooks/comments/168y02a/best_programwebsite_for_texttospeech_audiobook/
Feedbacks are appreciated

What Happens To Old War Gear? (Final Effect)
When military-grade weaponry becomes obsolete or is replaced, it is not uncommon to sell it to civilians at a reduced price for defensive purposes. For example, it is not at all unusual to see old war mechs on the frontier being piloted by minors and settlers in outlying colonies. You can even find war mechs whose piloting systems have been replaced by simple AI.
Due to the ever-present threat of the Grimm, and the myriad natural dangers that can be found on planets and in star systems all over the galaxy, civilians need ways to defend themselves. Old war gear offers an affordable solution to that problem since even centuries-old weaponry is still highly effective against most threats.
For example, there are mining colonies where the same war mechs have served as guardians for almost a thousand years. It turns out that being huge, heavily armoured, and armed to the absolute teeth prevents them from becoming completely obsolete despite their age.
One of the oldest such war mechs, an ancient LR-21 model has been in service for roughly fifteen hundred years. Originally designed to offer mobile heavy fire support on the field, the LR-21 is operated by a simple AI. Upgrades to its software and its hardware over the years mean that it has greatly changed from its original load out, but it has also remained an imposing and deadly presence on the battlefield.
For civilians, old war gear is an affordable way of acquiring equipment that is battle tested and ready for use. It's true that there are ample standard options for weaponry and war gear for civilians, but the law places strict limits on what can and cannot be purchased freely. These laws are relaxed somewhat for old war gear although the process of acquiring it does mean more background checks and the like.
You can also find old war gear in the service of the various smaller nations that exist in the galaxy. For instance, many older starships are sold to independent star systems or small factions rather than simply destroyed. These ships are, of course, inferior to those in service with the Empire or the Alliance, but they are nevertheless usually greatly superior to what these other factions could create on their own. They are also cheaper to buy than to construct.
As an aside, this makes coordination with these independent factions easier when Grimm incursions occur since the Empire and Alliance are also familiar with their vessels. This has led to some amusing incidents like two thousand year old ships still seeing combat after a bit of upgrading.
Due to the constant warfare against the Grimm, equipment is generally built to last and to be used as many times as possible before being replaced. At which point, it can then be used as reserve weaponry. Although disposable weapons certainly do exist, the sheer scale of the conflict against the Grimm means that efficient use of resources is key.
The regular sales of old war gear held by the Empire are often likened to yard sales with the Dia-Farron presiding and hawking their wares.
"Hey, you there! You look like you could use an old frigate! It might be three generations old, but it can still dump a thousand missiles on target in less than a minute! I'll even throw in a couple of old war mechs. Anything manages to get past the frigate and make landfall, the war mechs will turn it to ash! Don't think too hard about it. I've got plenty of other people interested, and I've only got four more of these frigates left!"

verses
Main
canon
Follows the plot of I.SWM, and includes all the branching paths as possible situations. Certain parts of the show, such as the fake endings, count as their own sub-verses.
life hereafter
Takes place after the Hold On ending in Part 2. The Invincible safely reaches its destination and colonization begins. This is the most stable of the verses (even if the effects of canon are far from being forgotten), and there is a new planet to explore as well as neighbours to meet.
Misc
ai
The CAPtain is the Invincible II’s state of the art navigation system. When splitting timelines and multiple universes become too much, they take it upon themselves to find a solution. It is no simple task, but what is time to a computer?
just a dream
The Captain knows it’s all in their head. You can’t die and come back, or step between universes as easily as crossing the street. It must be a dream! A trick played by cryo sleep. Cap doesn’t care much about the consequences of their actions in this verse, and is simply bidding their time until they wake up.
two’s a crowd
There was a strange mirror in the most recent universe the Captain visited. One with a shadowy, familiar, figure standing behind the glass. They touched it almost without a thought, and were possessed by the ghost of the DA for their troubles. This verse has two viewer characters for the price of one, and much existential dread for Cap, who has to contend with having the “real” version of themself so close by.
walking the opposite timeline
Catch all for modern verses. The Captain is no longer the Captain, instead going by the name Cal Wheeler. The default is that they’re running a tackle shop, or that they used to be a pilot, but I’m flexible about making modern aus!
