theres actually no rules to transitioning and youre allowed to want contradictory things for your transition. it's fine if you only want some of the changes that come with hrt and take preventative measures for the rest (like wanting bottom growth but not body hair or vice versa). you can want to have vagina AND a dick. you can be a woman and want top surgery, or wear a packer. you can be a man and want to have a pussy. you can change your transition goals one or a million times or not have any goals at all and just take things as they come or as they feel right.
there are no rules.

I love your compositions so much! Composition is my weakest point as an artist, I’m curious if you have any tips/recommendations/things you do/exercises? I want to learn from people who are doing it well!
Fortunately, composition is technically VERY simple! The hard thing about it is training your brain to actually stick to the "rules" that are, in retrospect, obvious.
These are the pillars of composition to me: -Have your focus be the center of the frame. -Lead the eye from the focus to secondary details through the use of color and positioning. -Everything else in the picture simply does not matter that much.
Common mistakes: -Overdetailing everything regardless of the plane it's on or position in the frame. -Nailing the composition, but picking light that shifts the focus away from the subject unintentionally. -Awkward cut-offs at the edges.
Here are some of my pieces and how I applied that theory to them - I'm not saying they're to be upheld as perfect examples of composition! Rather I just want to show my thinking in practice:

(Notice that despite being in the background and having way less detail, Astarion is still the focus point due to his color palette!)

Like I said, it's mostly about changing the way that you THINK while drawing and holding back from overdoing things when there is no need to. It's a skill you develop by being present while you practice, and doing a little bit of planning before even touching pen-to-paper. In time, it becomes second-nature.
This should go without saying, also, but rules are made to be broken! There are instances where doing the opposite of everything I just said can be VERY effective, but it takes understanding the base theory of such things first to apply these exceptions correctly.

By the way, if you're coming up on graduating soon, whether from middle school or high school or college, there's a very good chance you're stressed and, if you're anything like me, potentially pretty scared about how it's going to go once you're out of the world you know.
So let me offer some words of reassurance:
Growing up is great. I know it's scary and sometimes it sucks, but big picture, I genuinely think growing up is great.
(I say this as someone who had a p Not Fun Time when I was younger, so btw, that's both my bias and also proof that you do NOT have to have had a good childhood/adolescence to enjoy growing up.)
Leaving middle school? Fantastic. One of the greatest blessings of life is no longer being in middle school. At least 95% of adults will agree with me on this. (translation: ages 11-14 in the US)
Leaving high school? A bigger jump, and adulthood has a lot of stuff to figure out, but honestly really nice! The vast majority of adults would also agree with me that "No longer being in high school" is one of the great blessings of life! You just get so much more autonomy, potentially in not having to go to school/do homework and/or just as a newly legal adult. Also, most jobs are both easier and more bullshit than high school, and college is at least way less strict/gives you so much more autonomy/treats you like an adult (translation: ages 14-18 in the US)
(And because I know some of you are like me and definitely wondering: No, you do not have to ask to go to the bathroom or to leave the class in college, and yes, it is glorious.)
Leaving college? A good thing! Next stage in your journey! Yeah, if your college experience didn't suck, you probably have some things you're really gonna be sad to lose, but that's not inherently a bad thing! And if your college experience did suck, then the prize is no longer being in college! And whatever the case, just like for high school, I promise that the vast majority of jobs are both easier and more bs than being in school (translation: tertiary education, ages = adult, yes this explicitly includes community college and trade school)
Seriously. It might be hard, but there's a very, very good chance things will be easier than you fear. You've got this.

things to do before doing something stupid 𝜗𝜚˚⋆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
have a scrumptious snack and a tea or coffee
take a nap (if time allows)
open a window and walk around the room once
sit in silence for 7 minutes to ponder
does it contribute to the plot??
eat a raw vegetable
look outside until you see a bird
consult the council (two friends and your mom)
do your hair and brush your teeth
draw a bunny (send me a pic while you're at it)

Important safety information about the eclipse on Monday
You *can* remove the eclipse glasses during totality; not before or after.
If you find yourself falling apart instead of falling in love, turn around, bright eyes.
It is no longer considered best practice to cut the beating heart out of a human chest at the top of a pyramid to bring the sun back; nowadays, they just short out a LUCAS device.
If you are imprisoned by an evil bishop, break out, and look for a hawk and a wolf who are in love.
Most critically - No matter what, do not buy any strange and exotic plants which mysteriously appear during the eclipse.

We could use your help!
Tumblr media
If you support the groundbreaking, inclusive, affirming, feminist, comprehensive, young-people-centered, queer sex ed for all we've provided for 25+ years to over 90 million people, please help us raise the $15K we need to pay our bills in 2024, or become one of 250 new donors we need for 2025! You can do that at Scarleteen.com/contribute or by heading to our site and clicking ‘Pitch-In ’. 🎉 If you’re already donating (thank you!) please consider increasing your monthly amount, if you can, even a little bit. We’ll count any increases we get towards our two goals! You can do that by clicking 'Manage Your Donation' in your latest donation receipt. If you can’t donate yourself, can you tell your friends, family and followers who we are, why you value our work and ask them if they’d be willing to donate? You can share this post and the link above, but using your own words is the most effective! Despite leading the way in SRE online from the 1990s on, and always making sure young people have access to good information even when it is suppressed elsewhere in their lives, we remain underfunded, including funding to pay our staff a fair, living wage. We need to meet this $15K goal to fund our most basic needs and our tightest budget. If you can help us do that, we can focus on providing awesome SRE, growing, improving and kicking-ass, and finding more funding for 2025. Thank you! ❤️

When someone gives the advice of “don’t be afraid to disappoint your parents” they don’t just mean taking music theory in college or starting a YouTube channel.
It also means wearing things they might not approve of. Using accommodations that they might not think you need. Not falling for their guilt trips. Eating when you’re hungry, not when it suits them and their idea of your weight or health. Making your own friends instead of seeking the stamp of approval from them.
Of course, some parents are stricter than others, and some use abuse to keep you from expressing yourself. But do what you can, even if it seems small.
Otherwise, when your parents are no longer in the picture, you’ll try to find it somewhere else to get validation. A strict boss, an abusive partner, a selfish friend.
Going against your parent’s wishes is developmentally healthy. Not doing so stunts your independence and self-regulation. You shouldn’t be living to constantly please others, even the people who love you.

Got a predicament here, accidentally picked up a cursed sword that won't allow itself to be dropped or sheathed until I've slain "my greatest enemy". As far as I know, I don't have a greatest enemy, yet, and I'd rather not make one just to kill them so I can drop the sword. Good news is I have one hand free and I can transfer the sword between hands, but I literally cannot form the thought of letting go of the sword; one hand always has an iron grip on it. Can this curse be broken?
So, bad news is you’ll probably have to come in. Curses are tricky to untangle without thaumaturgical support. Unless the curse technician was really shoddy, they can be near impossible to ‘brute force’ within a human lifetime. Fun fact, the Large Thaum Collider that the European Thaumaturgical Centre for Research and Analysis (ETCetRA) built in France was originally designed to perform the en masse magical calculations needed to brute force deactivate stronger curses.
The good news is we have a specialized Cursebreaker Corps, licensed by ETCetRA in the fine art of wiggling out of curses. Thing is, curses like this are typically pretty stupid, being just unguided magical constructs. You can creatively finesse your way out of a lot of stuff.
This one is pretty common. Greatest enemy in single combat, yadda yadda. But like I said, it’s pretty dumb. I once helped a guy with a cursed amulet who had to do the same thing. Turned out, arguing vociferously against a piece of local legislation and defeating the town’s effort to move trash pickup day from Thursday to Friday counted for the purposes of ‘slaying his enemy’. Rose Garden, Louisiana still has trash pickup on Thursday to this day.
We’ll do some morphic analysis and see if this is a similar case. When you come in, put bubble wrap around the sword for reasons I hope are obvious.

Wait, I already do so much of this stuff instinctively, I'm so happy to read these. I love the ~chair~ and wall hooks method, I do keep my gloves, hospital ID, stamp, and hairclip I use to keep my headscarf in place on a little cushion on the edge of a table in my room, so everything I need after wearing my scrubs and lab coast is in one easy to reach place.
I LOVE YOU, plastic wall hooks [I have no idea why the metallic ones I encounter here are so junk and always fall down in hot weather or if you put too many things on them, whereas the little plastic ones stick and, after being given a few days to dry, can basically never be removed from the surface they're attached... we have one I stuck up on a windowframe as a kid and it's up to this day like 3 decades later... it's in a fantastically useless place, but it's awesome.]
@otesunki look at this!!!!!!
From the book Organizing Solutions for People with ADHD:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Putting a coat on the back of a chair by the door is fine, but if you prefer, use coat hooks and a large catch-all basket for dropping keys, hats, gloves.
Small bookcase end-table next to the couch to store craft projects, books, and other things being worked on for easy access.
Add a storage unit near the dining room table to transition between eating and working there.
Daily toiletry items should be stored in a basket that you can move easily
Extra toiletries and medicine cabinet items go in open shelf/basket storage so they can be seen and used easily. If items no longer fit, purge the excess. Don’t obscure the view!
If you disrobe in the bathroom, place a tall hamper in there.
Keep a set of cleaning supplies in each bathroom
