ik drow must have been rejected by orin at least over a hundred times so what would be his responses to that?? like the first time was he surprised, did he just write it off immediately, see it as a joke or orin playing coy? what encouraged him to keep trying?

also, did he ever feel angsty about his feelings being unrequited and what was his Cope

Well, the dynamics between the siblings + inside the temple were complicated, and I think I might need to go over them for due context:

DU drow never outright told her he had "feelings" for Orin, let alone ask her on a date or try to initiate sex - not that he would have known how to.

His entitlement to her as a romantic partner was in part Sarevok's fault, who constantly alluded to the fact that they would serve the temple best by breeding. All the breeding-kink jokes aside, however, DU drow was far less interested in procreating with her for practical reasons than he was simply emotionally invested and infatuated with Orin. Because of this, he at first pushed back against Sarevok and simply bottled up his emotions, and him and Orin had a surprisingly intimate friendship - with all of the expected Bhaalspawn flavor, at least - for it. As DU drow became more lonely and frustrated at the lack of affection in his life, he started to give into Sarevok's ideas for as long as they pushed Orin and himself to be together. This would also be around the time where DU and Sarevok more frequently teamed up against Orin to berate her methods and question her service.

And so, the previously platonic affection that DU and Orin shared died down gradually, replaced instead with the rivalry we see in the game. Seeing their relationship die down and his chance for love slip away, DU drow started parroting Sarevok's talking points about reproduction and their quasi adam-and-eve like fates, as he perceived it, which Orin brushed off/ mocked him for. She did the same to any attempts he made to rekindle the intimacy they used to have, weaponizing it against him - calling him weak, pathetic, desperate, with her usual prose.

The thing is that, this is how Orin has always been. She was never sweet and kind to him. Even the best moments of their relationship involved bickering, mockery, and hurting each other - the difference is that that used to be a language they both spoke and understood, but as things began to sour, that changed. But, since in practice their dynamic did not actually appear to change much, DU drow basically stayed in denial about what was happening up until the very end. He always thought Orin would "come around", "see sense", eventually.

That denial, that laughing-her-off, that was his coping mechanism. Another thing he did was go on cruising binges in the middle of his otherwise celibate life-style - confusing his yearning for affection with sexual frustration, both of which he blamed Orin for. Other times, he blamed it on his penis, which is why it also carries some marks of abuse 🤷 He was also an avid poetry writer, though much of it must've looked like feverish gibberish scrawled across book margins and backs of unsent letters.

Jokes* aside, this made me scream. I love that fat baby and I love the overwhelming Devil Wears Prada energy seeping out of your stylization of Fem-Astarion. Oh DU drow is so happy. He's going to make such a loving but completely dysfunctional dad. Also, I wanna know who cut the baby's bangs (my money's on Shadowheart)

I saw your p4tr30n (not sure if i should redact that name lol) post and was very curious about your experience drawing alive and well Astarion. He’s obviously very different compared to his in game self. Was it a breath of fresh air or more so a challenge to get right? I love his gold eyes and flushed ears, such a good choice btw.

It was a BIT of a challenge at first, particularly because people can get... A little combative when it comes to depictions of living Astarion? Literally the closest I've gotten to "hate" in response to my art have been asks regarding this young Astarion I drew. I just deleted them out of my inbox though so you will just have to take my word for it.

Point is, people have very strong opinions about how this fantasy man that never existed looked in his younger years - you would think some of them met him personally! Ultimately though I think my HC isn't that wild.

Because I could never decide what type of elf he would have been I went with him having a Sun Elf father and a Moon Elf mother, explaining the mix of his pretty human-range complexion with the golden eyes+silver hair. While being turned into a vampire would have enhanced the tiredness of his features, It wouldn't have changed his bone structure or build- so that kind of remains the same. Take away the dark circles and add some freckles for poetic irony and voila - we got a mortal Astarion.

I still far prefer drawing him as a vampire, but this has definitely been an interesting exercise! Since I already had a headcanon of sorts for how he looked it wasn't particularly challenging, and the method remained pretty much unchanged up until rendering commenced - then it's just a matter of making some tweaks to the palette and using more saturated colors.

Not sure if asked but is Astarion the only romance or are there others you could see your DU drow being with? Or is it only Astarion cuz he's your personal fav *eyebrowseyebrows* Love your art regardless tho!!

DU drow could have slept with Jaheira if given the chance (and had he not been in a semi-committed relationship by that point) but otherwise, Astarion really is his best match. The rest of the cast is either too "good" or, uh, dead!

Hi RJ!

I just thought you might like to know that I am indeed enjoying KCD2. In fact, I am completely dumbfounded by how much I am enjoying the game! I was a bit skeptical and thought it would be more of a nerdy battle grinding, but it totally blew my expectations. The story, the humour, the occasional goofiness, the depth and the heart put into even minor things, the absolutely brilliant voice acting of the characters never cease to amaze me while I am literally awwing, gasping and laughing hysterically out loud all to myself while playing.

I got a bit demotivated at first by Hans the Diva fucking off for what felt like half the game - after veeery subtly opening with "Let's go and strip, Henry!" - Henry&Hans were quite hyped up and I guess BG3 got me used to having companions around. But now Ignatius the Sheep and Henry getting shitfaced with the Cumans are one of my favourite game events ever (closely topped by Henry sneaking up on some archers with a howl "HEEEERE'S HENRY?" and if you ever make it into art I'll be so so happy).Aaaaanyway, excuse my babbling, I'm so glad I got into KCD2. If you ever need words of encouragement - please do KCD2 art, do silly stuff, do deep serious stuff, do more characters - we are all for it!🥰

I have managed to sneakily stash three guards' corpses in a kitchen where 3 minutes later Adder would bang someone's wife and the husband dude would have existential crisis over the infidelity. All while some dead bloodied bodies are throwing shapes on the floor. I guess DU Drow would approve.

I'm so glad you've been enjoying the game!!! As happy as I was when people started telling me that they got it because of my praises/art I definitely also got a little bit nervous that I had roped folks into an investment they might regret 😂

because yes, while I would say that there are a lot of things that I enjoyed about KCD2 that I also enjoyed about BG3 - They are very different games at their core. Outside of the combat system, I would definitely like to warn people that this game does not have the "dating-sim" type mechanics BG3 has, and your choices of emotionally-invested relationships are MUCH slimmer (technically only 2!) not to mention that they are sloooooooow slow burns, and driven more so by Henry's writing than player preference.

Personally, I prefer it that way, but some people might be put off by it!

This question is harmless but honestly I am mostly choosing to answer it to make a very important PSA:

DU drow enjoys all racks. Big racks may catch his attention faster due to the enhanced rack-to-space ratio but he enjoys all racks nonetheless. If you poured a bottle of wine down his gullet and pressed him on the matter of size, I guess he would say a C (after you put a comprehensive size chart in front of him, at least. If you ever saw the pants that this man wears you would know that the does not understand clothing sizing) but it's not too strong a preference. They most definitely do not need to be huge - if anything he probably values proportion more than isolate size so-
