fic where 18 yrs old dazai meets 14 yrs old atsushi (right after leaving the mafia ig) and w/o thinking takes him with him and they spend the two years on the run together (dazai becuz anytime he tries to abandon the orphan he picked up w/o thought oda flashes into his mind and ultimately he grows to care for him) (atsushi becuz the weird bandage guy pinkie promised he could ride on one of those trains he's seen in books)

anyway

dazai and atsushi dont look alike or have the same name so the ada picks up they arent related by blood real quick

anytime anyone asks how they met, they honestly answer "i/dazai kidnapped him/me" but everyone thinks its a joke

atsushi wins dazai over gradually, like small moments, small moments of kindness shown for dazai, small moments of seeing atsushi's real non-trauma made personality seeping through , he doesn't even realize it until it hits all at once how much he cares for atsushi

atsushi on the other hand was sold because dazai could make him laugh

also dazai finds out atsushi's ability becuz at some point he comes to their hideout or whatever and a giant tiger is sitting there and before he can even panic it happily jumps at him and boom atsushi

in this particular au, dazai lets atsushi doodle anywhere like dazai's bandages and his books becuz its better than having to actually engage with the child and eventually gets atsushi an actual sketchbook and the two spend their time drawing, atsushi's sketches get better dazai's get worse but atsushi sometimes thinks its becuz dazai's silly and scary sketches make him laugh

there has to be a scene where someone asks atsushi what he's doing here, after dazai's joined the ada, and atsushi's like "im here w/ my brother" and looks at dazai, sees him poorly flirting w/ kunikida and irritating him and gets so much second hand embarrassment he points at ranpo instead

I already wrote about Tanizaki Port Mafia AU (where he decided to join on his own), so besides him, who should I write about? I'm talking about being selected for the transfer, not voluntarily joining. (Excluding Yosano, ofc as well as Kenji, and Kyouka b/c just nO!)

Might include ships, but might not depending on the person.

Here are some ways I think each member could be good in the PM:

FUKUZAWA

no extra training required

knows Mori

is at least somewhat familiar with Yokohama's underground

canonically has bloodlust

and only stopped killing because he knew it was BaD

people would be AFRAID

Kunikida and/or Ranpo could take over the ADA

it’s really interesting b/c if he goes Ranpo might follow

and then where would the ADA be?

The fic would prob be tortured Fukumori

slowburn (idk how good I am at writing slow burn but we'll see . . .)

The rekindling of old failed toxic love that was killed before it could really get anywhere or see if it could bloom into something pure

now they have to figure it out in their new circumstances

and if it even can work

but first, they'll have to admit that there's still even the faintest hint of something there

and even then Mori will have to WORK for Fukuzawa's love (don't worry)

KUNIKIDA

organised and efficient so he could easily manage trading operations domestically and overseas

smart even if we may not see a lot b/c of dazai and Ranpo

could probably pick up languages easily

I think he'd be great at undercover work since he's actually capable of being subtle

and he is used to being around *normal* people more and has better social skills

I also feel like he's the type who he can look totally different with a different hair style (or colour) or even if he just takes off his glasses or doesn't wear his little vest or something

and his ideals don't align exactly with the law, only what he thinks is right

he’s willing to do what is necessary to get the job done

if joining the pm and controlling Yokohama’s underworld means less crime and violence overall then he’ll do it

I still think he wouldn’t kill but

he'd prob be really good at interrogation and combat missions that didn't involve killing (like theft or kidnapping for information/money or something)

I don't think he'd be the perfect fit but if they warped or broke him enough he could be absolutely terrifying in the mafia

Kuni has way higher standards (58 criteria to be precise) and these FREAKS meet none of them

A fic with him would probably be hella angst.

I'm not sure I have a very good grasp of his character yet, so out of all the options, I'm least enthusiastic about writing for him.

Also, I'm already doing a Hunting Dogs AU for him.

his combat skills are a little haphazard (relying on brute force mostly) 

but Kunikida has been tearing him in martial arts a little 

even though they have hardly any time with all the CHAOS

but if Mori or the other executives warped him, I think b/c he's so insecure, they could convince him

(kind of like they did Kyouka, only her will is stronger than Atsushi's)

that violence and destruction and killing are his purpose and what he was born for.

But, I doubt Mori would go the route of telling him it's all he's good for and that if he doesn't do it, he's good for nothing again.

He knows it didn't work the first time and it's too easy to reverse, especially since Atsushi has already been with the ADA.

I think Mori would set about convincing him that he deserves to let his anger out for all the world has done to him

that the world is his enemy and that he should punish it

that people deserve his wrath for allowing a society where he could be treated the way he has been to exist

They're still going to fight like angry cats

Aku will prob realise his feelings when he finds himself missing Atsushi's old personality

meanwhile, Atsushi is just drowning in the brainwashing

the "bliss" of anger and he's too unaware even to fight it

still, SSKK become partners

and knowing them, it's to the point where only they don't know they are together

them "not-dating" will prob be like their messed up therapy and break Atsushi's trance or smth

maybe they hide the fact that he's not mind-controlled or whatever form Mori

Atsushi might still decide to stay just to keep any other agency members from being transferred

and who knows he may even learn to like it

I know I said I wouldn't do Junichirou

but if you're getting one, you're getting both

Noami is smart, savage and a little cruel (how she treats Jun when he's seasick) and unhinged

(thinking of the time she suggested Atsushi do sexual stuff for his entrance exam)

not to mention Dazai tutors her

If you can't have Dazai, why not have his student?

(I swear that's canon, correct me if I'm wrong though)

she has the potential to be heartless, sadistic, and terrifying

She also likes to see people (Junichirou, at least) squirm and be uncomfortable or suffer to some extent.

I suppose there are two things I already know I do, or well avoid. I avoid starting with dialogue or the first word being a character's name, because school drilled it into my head that's bad writing, and even though I know that's not true, I still subconsciously do it a lot.

bsd all the way !! i'll occasionally write a jjk fic (they have a hold on me <3) or start a batfam fic, but it's primarily jjk. tho admittedly i've been a lot more focused on my original project lately!

what are your top five fics by kudos?

mine are a fun collection of "fics that i just thought would be funny/ cathartic" or fics that i had to white-knuckle through writing. none are MY favorites, though i'm admittedly proud of them :] 1. delusion is weighing me down / bsd + sskk / 100k. 2. symptoms of singularity / bsd + skk + outsider pov (atsushi) / 6.9k. 3. act of faith / bsd + skk / 125k. 4. fig tea accusations / bsd + sskk / 3.7k 5. stray god / bsd + tachizaki (or tanitachi) / 73k.

do you respond to comments? why or why not?

for sure! i try to, at least. i'm not the best at responding to them (they all tend to start with "ahhhh thank you !" in typical cherri fasion...) but i love getting comments! i have this superstition wherein if i don't respond to them i won't get more. and i'm an attention whore sometimes.

what's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i don't tend to do angsty ending, honestly? i'm very much a happy ending sort of guy. i get sad at Many twhat the fuck hings with bad endings and it typically isn't the cathartic sad that i wish it was! but if i had to choose, pigment of heartache (fukumori) maybe? even then, that's just an ambiguous / open ending.

what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

anything without the ambiguous / open ending tag,,, i don't actually know! maybe back to fig tea accusations?

do you get hate on fics?

not publicly at least! tho if someone were to trash act of faith in private, i would probably join them. i Don't like that one.

do you write smut?

i've ventured into it in a couple of private docs, though i've never posted anything with explicit sexual content other than part of a (still ambiguous) kousano one-shot.

i have a spreadsheet of approximately 64 unfinished works. i do not think they are getting finished. i want them to, though. i think, off the top of my head, i'd most like to finish letters to the dead, which is my tachihara backstory fic :] it's in the guard dogs series, which apple of my eye (jouno backstory) is thrown in. hunting dogs backstories <3

what are your writing strengths?

tbh. i am in one of those growth ruts wherein i do not think i am competent at anything within the craft, though that certainly isn't true! i think i'm very good at character introspection and philosophy, maybe? (ironically. that's one of the things i most need to cut from my original wip because there's no room for PLOT)

what are your writing weaknesses?

white room syndrome... it's so bad. white room syndrome AND THEN i tend to write details inconsistency (oh you thought it was daytime in the summer? WRONG. it's dusk in the midst of winter), and i tend to put Too Much introspection between lines of dialogue.

thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

to take lena's stance. i too love seeing it, but fear writing it; english is my native language and i'm only learning beginner japanese, so... tho i think that with consultancy i could write it!

i love engaging ( when i can and when im not overwhelmed by the sheer number of comments in my inbox ) so definitely the ones that point out the little things like movie references or canon/author nods and invite me to explain t, them. however my day is absolutely made when i see someone losing their mind--- key smashing, emoji spamming, screaming, threatening to kill me, etc. etc. -- as well. those really stick with me.

having a warm drink in the morning is KEY. it really does make you feel so much better than ice-cold water or milk or juice ( aka tea makes everything better )

❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?

🤫 can't spill too many details, obviously, but I'm currently plotting something for sskk--with tea, of course--and ( yet another ) skk au set in a time and place they have no business being, featuring poolside confessions, too many wasted cigarettes, lavender marriages, and love that lives on in headlines and the screen

awww i like this one. 1. i went riding and fishing with my dad a lot during this winter break. it's always so lovely to spend quality time with him because we'll sit and chat about Lost or Dr. Who or he'll tell me about how his civilization playthrough is going or he'll let me ramble about my fics. i never notice him doing it, but when we get home there's always pictures from the day uploaded to the screensaver file for his office monitor ( they're usually not very flattering, but it's heartwarming ) so i know he enjoys spending time with me even though he grumbles when i ask.

2. I'm back on campus! it was rough getting here but i missed this place--thought it's definitely lost its shine after studying abroad--but it's homey and beautiful in a quiet, gothic way

3. im currently on call with some of the mutuals :3 i love them lots that's a good thing that is happening

So, this is about your classification AU, but not exactly about Chuuya and Dazai, so feel free to ignore this if you don't wanna answer lol

Have you ever thought about the classification of the rest of the ADA (and how that might influence their interactions with Dazai)? Personally, I love Little!Atsushi and Little!Ranpo, as well as Caregiver!Yosano and Caregiver!Kunikida, but I was curious on your takes.

Also, if you do think there would be other littles in the ADA, do you think there would be playdates once Dazai is back on track with regressing (probably after reconecting with Chuuya)? If so, would Dazai be more social because the other littles are people from the ADA that he cares about?

Yes! I do plan on doing some one shots that take place in the early days of Dazai joining the ADA (i just like writing in between when manga exists, it’s easier to play around canon events don’t touch me timeline don’t come for me)

Straight off the bat i go back and forth whether i want atsushi to be a little or an alpha and then vise versa with akutagawa. Right now i am thinking little atsushi and alpha akutagawa, but i could also totally see the classifications swapped. I’m not as confident in my sskk writing so I’ll probably tackle them separately in their own fics eventually too. I do think atsushi would have larger range of ages regresses to just depending on how safe or emotional he feels, I’m thinking from ages 2-8. Most of the time atsushi is really active and rambunctious and just wants to play, kind of kid you take to a park and just let him run around. He does drop smaller if he’s feeling vulnerable or upset, or if he just needs extra attention. He likes playing pretend and he always plays games at the playground that end up roping in a bunch of other kids like pirates or warrior cats and everyone loves atsushi and wants to be his friend 🥹🩷 and akutagawa as his seemingly reluctant grumpy caregiver that actually loves him sm and is there in a millisecond if atsushi scrapes his knee or if it looks like he’s getting bullied on the playground

But for the rest of The Ada:

Kunikida would absolutely be a caregiver and he would take it upon himself to look after Dazai once the office finds out he’s a baby. Ranpo’s main caregiver would be fukuzawa, but kunikida often babysits him too because they’re all a family. Pretty much everyone in the ada sees kunikida as their nagging older brother, even if they’re not little, but once Dazai is in the picture it’s easy for kunikida to work taking care of him into his schedule.

Ranpo is a little, and I do think Dazai and Ranpo would play well together once dazai’s classification is exposed and he loosens up a bit. I think Ranpo would be a chunky block Lego kid (the big ones for little kids because kunikida fears choking even though Ranpo is pretty good about keeping things that aren’t candy out of his mouth) and Ranpo will build things and Dazai will help by separating all the pieces by color so Ranpo has an easier time color coordinating his tower. Ranpo would be a good older brother, he’d be nice and plays gentle with the baby.

Yosano would be an alpha (she is when the healer goes in with the GUN) but she cares about her whole ADA family and is always looking out for them. Dazai’s immune system is bad, and it’s lucky that they have such a great doctor on staff. Adult Dazai avoids yosanos office (he dodged his initial physical exam) but he at least realizes yosano means no harm, baby is terrified of her office. Yosano is real patient and goes slow with Dazai when he’s little and sick, and eventually the baby learns to trust her too

Fukuzawa is an alpha and he’s very protective over his agency members. He insists ranpo cannot go home by himself when he’s little, so he will usually take him home with him after work (kunikida takes Dazai home and then atsushi when chuuya comes back into Dazai’s life).

I love early Ada days when the agency is small and the stakes aren’t as high and there’s time to just be a family and i will write fics for them soon 😭🩵

How likely I am to write it: 5/10. My point being, I'm a big fan of worldbuilding, and not a big fan of “trust the reader to come up with lore based on a vague concept”.

If that idea ever comes my way, I'll take a while figuring out what mythology/bestiary to use and how everything works. There are many complicated fics on my plate right now, and on average, my work is detail-heavy. I'll never say never, but it isn't a strong brainrot. AKA, if I feed it, it might be bad for my ongoing works…

Another thing is I LOVE subverting and playing with power dynamics and pre-established concepts. I could and would make these angels and demons not be one-dimensional depictions of good or bad. Or switch up the characters you'd expect to be one or the other. Which would take a while as well.

What character(s) or pairing I’d most likely write it for: First and foremost, shoutout to lapsus_calami_21 for writing this Arknights AU kunizai fic with a similar concept. I think it fits them well.

That said, any pairing with different moral compasses/modus operandi (knkdz included). OR on opposite sides, like hero-villain.

MHA Togachaco would work in that AU. Even their looks are fit for it. If I entertain that idea for too long, I might be in big trouble, and I don't wanna be in big trouble (jk). Dunno if it's a surprise to my dash that I ship Togachaco. Honorable mention to a possible angel/demon AU for MHA Monokendo, my sillies.

I see sskk working as angel/demon, but can't say I'd write it myself.

Oh no, there's Only One Bed

How likely I am to write it: 10/10, in fact, I have done it in The Sickfic. As well as fics for other fandoms.

It's versatile and easy to make happen, even though you can get creative about why there is Only One Bed. It speedruns the intimacy steps of whatever ship you ship. I totally get why it's a fanfiction classic trope.

What character(s) or pairing I’d most likely write it for: any ship I ship that's either:

still shy to approach, even if they have accepted their feelings (or are insecure, but would be fine about that closeness), OR;

begrudgingly figuring out what they feel regarding the other person, as an advancer to that.

IMO, it can be fun both ways. Many pairings could be in either situation. My multishipper heart is big. However, my soft spot is for when this happens to characters who have trust issues, aren't used to being cared for, are considered freaks or cursed in some way… One character or both, idc. That kind of thing.

so show me why you're strong (ignore everybody else) (15,490 words) - T, ambiguously platonic skk, ongoing. mafia executive chuuya meets suicidal cat hybrid dazai and tries to give him a better life (against dazai's wishes)

my candy boy, my baby (2,495 words) - T, sskk, completed one-shot. written for the same valentine's day challenge as love in the vein! atsushi and akutagawa go on a valentine's day date and try to manage sweet confessions amidst emotional awkwardness.

probably we burn our blue love (mentioned above)... I think it's not necessarily angsty due to the events of the fic itself (which is mostly smut tbh) but due to what happens in canon later on and how it's alluded to at the end of the fic... bloohooohoooo i will never NOT be crying over the dark era!!!!

apart from the aforementioned angst, all my fics have happy endings!! probably the cutest softest fluffiest is my candy boy, my baby (also mentioned above) just bc it's a valentine's day fic and it's so tooth-rottingly sweet uwu uwu

I am never leaving behind my funky little blorbos that got me PROPERLY into online shipping culture in the early 00s. they come back around every few years like a planet with a weird orbit and my singular remaining fma brain cell just buzzes like crazy and then goes dead again.

Kid Gloves is probably dead now. it's just been too many years since its inception and the things that made me want to write it in the first place. plus, I think my writing has improved a lot since then and I sort of cringe looking at it now lol

What are your writing strengths?

i like writing fun or snappy dialogue, i think it comes very easily to me (especially with the kind of semi-antagonistic ships that I really enjoy) and I like to show off with lots of in-depth extended metaphors too

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

im literally a polyglot and i'm afraid of it for some reason. don't perceive me. what if I actually can't speak the languages that i speak and people on the internet find out??

i love gore and horror, can you tell? this fic marries that and my space hyperfixation. it's creepy, confusing, and dark. honestly, it's exactly what you expect an english and film student to write. and that is five of my favourite fics, not in any particular order but here nonetheless. i've been tired lately, and life has kind of sucked but also it's kinda better. it's weird, lol.
