kndz headcanons bc I fucking miss them so bad:

fav activities to do together are reading, eating and going on walks, they treasure their little mundane moments with how hectic work and dazai related incidents tend to be

they visit museums together all the time and ramble to each other abt their fav exhibits

LOVE leaving little notes for each other

dazai will leave sticky notes w silly drawings or phrases for kunikida to find in random places and Kunikida will fold it into origami and put them in a box

kunikida leaves dazai reminders to take care of himself and puts notes in his lunches

yes he makes him lunches despite how annoyed he acts abt doing it he loves it

they both like listening to jazz and classical music and put it on while their cleaning (yes dazai helps too on his good days)

dazai likes watching kunikida cook, he’ll just sit on the counter or kitchen table and watch him very intently

first time it happened kunikida got flustered and almost cut his finger but he’s grown used to it by now

mornings are such a hassle cuz dazai will CLING to kunikida like a leech and refuse to budge until he lures him to the kitchen w breakfast

on their days off he just surrenders to his fate and lets him cling to him as he cooks

they bake together often and dazai always causes a mess but kunikida unfortunately finds it too endearing to care anymore

Thinking about Kunikida continuing to call Dazai twice a day to check up on him. Panicking when Dazai doesn't answer and about to break into his dorm.

Only to remember that Dazai is in Mersault and Kunikida can't reach him.

Ango relys it to him once they meet that Dazai's okay and Kunikida scoffs.

Kunikida: Oh did he tell you that? Has he eaten today? Because I managed to find the prison menu and none of it is food he'd even pretend to eat.

Not to mention it's never served when he's actually hungry. He's tactile, he has to drape himself over a person like a worn blanket in order to find peace. And he's in isolation which he loathes, he's probably going stir crazy.

And Ango is just suprised that Dazai let Kunikida in like this that he knows all of this and says it so confidently.

Ango: You're right, I'm sorry.

Kunikida: No, no it's not your fault. I just... I won't be accept any reassurance until he's here with me.

Kunikida being the one sober at the end of the hangout wasn’t uncommon; in fact, there was a system in theory, but in practice it tended to be either Yosano or him most of the time… since Ranpo only half counted, given how he wasn’t very prone to drinking due to only actually committing with sweet enough stuff. And Dazai… it wasn’t to say they couldn’t count on him for moments like these, but… Kunikida would rather not talk about those times when it was him getting walked home by him while drunk.

For nothing in particular (lies).

Right then, he was the one walking Dazai home instead, and either Dazai was legit so drunk he couldn’t walk in a straight line or he was pulling an incredible act to have Kunikida hold him by the waist while they both moved. Not like he minded being so close to him, but…

“Y’know, Kunikida-kun?” With how Dazai was, he had no idea, but it seemed like that was a ‘drunk in a confessional’ kind of night (Kunikida himself had had a bunch of those). “I like you a lot.”

“I like you too.” Kunikida promptly answered, because Dazai was just saying things right then, was he? Besides, it was true.

“No, dummy!” Dummy? “I like you, y’know?” Him stopping very suddenly made Kunikida stop too. And, once they were both just standing there, Dazai pressed a really intense kiss to his cheek.

Which, of course, also made him realize that wasn’t just saying things.

So, long story short, Kunikida’s face started to redden in a matter of seconds, accompanied by a spiking in the beating of his heart.

the way atsushi's thoughts on kunikida's and dazai's partnership changed from the beginning of this episode to the end is similar to what i remember thinking when i watched this episode for the very first time from "I really wonder why these two are partners"

to "Their partnership is amazing."

sure, dazai annoys kunikida a bunch and they have silly moments together, but their partnership is awesome. also the silliness makes them more amusing imo
