His mum is going to kill him! Well, not kill him. Just give him a right telling off, make him admit she'd been right, then try to confine him to his room until they found a hefty Alpha to look after him and rein him in or something. She wouldn't manage, of course. Harry is only twenty-four and has no inclination to settle down at all, especially not at the behest of an Alpha. But, as his mum would point out, that was the same stubborn attitude that got him here: in his car, in a thunderstorm, on the side of a forsaken lane of some little countryside town in Yorkshire. His mobile's got no signal, his GPS isn't working, and he's running low on petrol, so he can't even use the heater. Oh, and most importantly, his car is stuck in the mud, so even if the GPS was working and he knew where to go, he wouldn’t be able to. He's been in stickier spots; he reminds himself. Way stickier. This is just a bit of rain; it'll blow over. Then Harry will just... well, alright, he isn't entirely sure what to do when the rain stops because he'll still be stuck and lost. But, hey, there won't be any rain, which is something to cheer about.

A Convenient Impracticality

Somehow Harry ends up agreeing to a fake relationship with his ex-nemesis-turned-friendly-acquaintance-with-benefits, except for some reason it involves an awful lot of actual dating and, sadly, not much sex. Confused? Harry is too, but when has anything with Draco Malfoy ever been as straightforward as it seems?

Snippet Sunday

I just added... like, twelve scenes to the Operation Groundhog AU draft. Admittedly, I knew some of them were coming because there was a planned "scene" that just said "Mission" and like. yeah. That was gonna expand. Jeez, though! Maybe I need to find a shorter fic idea to knock out so y'all don't forget about me LOL

Anyway, here's today's snip:

“Shit,” Mav says, and laughs.

Ice looks over at him. “Hm?”

“I think it’s the same cafeteria as in 1986.”

“I’d say ‘if it ain’t broke’, but it very much is,” Ice muses.

“It might be the same coffee, too,” Mav says, eyeing the horrible coffee maker.

Ice eyes the coffee maker too.

“Yeah. Still want some?”

“Unfortunately, yeah,” Mav says, resigned. “You?”

Ice thinks about it.

Then he shrugs. Maybe burning the coffee means the bacteria’s all dead by now. “Yeah,” he says. “Why not?”

as much as madoka magica doesn’t deserve its reputation of inventing dark magical girl/shoujo deconstructions (it’s at least the third to do that) i really don’t think we give it enough credit for having one of its main characters’ primary combat style be “a bunch of guns she stole from the military”

WOOO NEW CHAPTER

Chapter 5 of my DE fanfiction, "Sharp and Vivid Existence" is out! +5k words, nice.

It's from Kim's POV and could be viewed as a sort of character study for him, I guess. He's (mostly) with Jean for this one because I really wanted to explore their possible dynamic without Harry.
