Hey so I just finished reading your fic (wanted: dead and alive) in one sitting and. Oh man is it good. Even if it mainly deals with cursory interests for me, it has so many things I am personally interested in. Every character feels right, with a weighted balance that makes them make sense in their world, with consistent characterisation that really helps that weight. They're believable. And then the premise?? Oh my gods the premise. I am a massive fan of angst, whump and hurt/comfort works, especially if the comfort is delayed, and godddsssss yours hit the spot like a refreshing glass of water. And as someone with a (knowingly morbid) interest in medically accurate gore and mostly just medical procedures in general it was beautifully described. Amazing, 10/10, no notes apart from that I loved it.

haunting me right now a line from a supernatural fic that was something along the lines of to love the kid was to love the parent I think it was like Dean loved Ben so Lisa loved Dean or something and Dean understood to love Cas was to love Jack&Claire and. Buck loves Christopher. And he loves Eddie. And the problem is these relationships may say that they love Christopher (Shannon excluded bc she did love him) but they don’t actually love him. They just like that Eddie’s a good dad or the idea of a family or are just trying to say the right thing to love Eddie. But it’ll never work because to love Eddie they’ve got to love Christopher. Claudette did not know her. Not really. She was quiet but in a different way than how Claudette could be quiet, different from the nerves that left Claudette without words to say, her eyes on the ground looking for bugs or strange plants or anything else to keep her focus. 

She was quiet in a brooding, intense fashion, dressed in black more often than not but with bright pink streaks in her white blonde hair and Claudette wondered if the color would show up the same in her own dark braids. 

Her mother had never let her try to dye her hair, but Claudette had thought about it often, had almost gone through with it. She hadn’t had many friends in school but there had been a sleepover and a girl with access to her mom’s bathroom and the many bottles of bleach and chemicals and different colors of dyes and they had all pressed paste to a strand of hair and turned it that pink, Barbie pink, bright, vivid. 

Except Claudette had complained the chemical fumes made her feel sick and disappeared to go to bed, and it had been Claudette they’d blamed when the girl’s mother caught them out, how they all spent ages at the hairdresser getting the color back out and returned to normal because the schools wouldn’t let you walk around like that.

Claudette did not go to sleepovers, and Sable Ward scared the shit out of her.

It features the iconic line: “Phantom’s trans— what an icon.” TourettesDog has several other fics with trans Danny that I like too, including Phantom at Pride.

Of All the Things My Hands Have Held by @disillusioneddanny || 17k Complete multi-chap. A cute Dead Serious story where Danny and Damian raise a baby together. I think it's funny that Talia gives them the baby partly because she doesn't know Danny is trans. DisillusionedDanny actually has a bunch of really good fics with trans Danny, including Eat The Acid and Love Like You.

Phantom in Gotham by @artemismoorea03 || 320k Incomplete series. This series is incredible! Poor Danny has to deal with some upsetting situations, but everyone in the Batfam who learns that Danny is trans is supportive which is sweet.

Liminal Familiarity by @isitcowboytimes || 70k Incomplete multi-chap. A nice angsty AU where Danny helps Jason after he becomes half ghost. There's a scene where Danny transforms back to human after being only Phantom for a while and he gets hit with gender dysphoria and being human dysphoria at the same time, oof.

Stalking Astronauts: Gotham's Latest Social Media Craze! by @tachvintlogic || 54k Complete multi-chap. This is a really interesting twist on the usual DPxDC adoption trope where Danny is afraid of being adopted, and he doesn't need to be because he's an adult and a successful astronaut. Unfortunately because of his facial masculinization surgery, everyone thinks he looks a Wayne.

Barely Surviving in a World Antithetical to My Existence by DomesticatedOpossum and Vampirenote13 || 67k Incomplete multi-chap. Danny gets isekaied to Gotham and helped by Constantine and the bats eventually. I like that both Danny and Tim are trans in this.

Better Halves (and other such falsehoods) by @astereaes || 132k Incomplete multi-chap. An amazing fake relationship Danny/Tim story! Tim doesn't know that Danny is trans for a while but he also doesn't know a lot of things about Danny lol.
