Gender roles are stupid. We don't need them. We don't need to assign specific rights or responsibilities to certain genders in order to maintain a smooth running and happy society. We don't need to ascribe certain moral behaviors or expectations to any genders. We don't need to do any of that. We made that up. Society will not collapse if we stop telling boys to be X and girls to be Y. Society will not implode if we stop telling men that they have to be one thing or series of things and women the other series of things. Yes, that includes expecting men to be kind, gentle, and humble. That should be happening regardless of their gender. People need to be good people to themselves and others regardless of their own or the others' genders. We don't need gender roles. I promise you we don't need them.
