I'm thinking thoughts about Agent Curt Mega today. Specifically him at the end of Doing This, when Tatiana ends their kiss. I highly doubt that he's ever come out to anyone other than the men he's slept with, and he's still too afraid to say it out loud. But it's not just that he explains through a euphemism ("you're not my type"), it's that when Tatiana tries to say it more plainly he cuts her off ("so you're into-" "yeah"), because he can't even handle hearing it from her. He is fully expecting her to hate him for being gay, and when she doesn't, and just continues the conversation as normally as she can, even saying she still wants to be his friend, he is blown away by positive emotions because this man has probably never had a real friend before. It's just so.

What I love about the ending of the musical, when Curt kills Owen, is that he realizes that he deserves better. He realizes that his relationship with Owen isn't worth fighting for, and that his friendships with Barb and Tatiana are. And that's really meaningful to me, seeing platonic love held up as a happy ending and romantic love acknowledged as fallible.

#curt really did take owen's advice and move on #maybe he could have redeemed him if he kept talking #but owen just wasn't worth that risk anymore #curt was under no obligation to forgive the man who was gleefully torturing him like two days ago #you can love someone and still know that they're bad for you #especially in this case #where owen isn't just bad for curt but also actively trying to perpetrate evil schemes #like as much as I want a curtwen happy ending #i have to admit that we got a curt happy ending #or at least saw him start on the road to happiness #and that's enough for me because curt is my favoritest guy #i hope he gets therapy #spies are forever #agent curt mega #tatiana slozhno #owen carvour #barb larvernor #my analysis #cleaning out the archive #this post was originally from july 24 2023

Does anyone know how to get over hangups about like, writing. I write 'lore' and worldbuilding stuff but I have almost no experience with writing anything narrative, nor have I ever finished writing a story in my entire life. I used to write stories about characters as a teenager but at some point the thought became humiliating and I just can't anymore

#i just feel like i dont know enough and dont have enough ideas also its always very bad when i look back over it again #but in the last year ive been readind like crazy #ive read 111 books since spring 2023 and i keep being filled with the desire to write but remain convinced of my inability to do so

Unfortunately, I have also found that it's strangely difficult to find material on black butches and studs ... but I am on the hunt nevertheless! As of the past two weeks a few more black lesbian anthologies have arrived and I have a few more lined up that I hope to procure soon--all this to say that I hope to present more material to you that suits your interests in the days & weeks to come. I hope we both can find good stuff for you. :)

(Which, speaking of ... if ANYONE out there happens to know where the treasure trove of black butches & stud lore is, I would happily trade my best cheesecake and/or cookie recipes for this knowledge. I can also provide manual labor and cleaning services.)
