On Zeta’s faces: an expanded transcription of this image because not all of this fit very cleanly and I have things to say.

The Host: Innerface

The only of Zeta’s faces he currently uses to speak. Its voice is soft and sexless by default, but can become extremely loud, harsh, shrill, etc. when needed. His “human” laugh is affected. Has some control over the pitch and quality of it, but is imprecise and unskilled at mimicry.

Rarely ever used to eat, but often used to drink. Sometimes uses this face to swallow small, non-perishable objects like keys, jars, etc. for safe keeping. If this mouth actually leads to his stomach or not is ambiguous, but I personally don't think it does. At least not usually.

The host is stretchy, but not gummy or excessively pliable, you couldn't deform it with your hands. Its skin is soft and slimy; it feels like raw chicken with a high fever. Its skin is extremely sensitive, and capable of tasting what it touches. Zeta finds unwanted contact with the Host extremely objectionable.

The Rest: Outerface

While capable of speech, he hasn't used this face to talk in a very, very long time. Its voice is deep, coarse, and he has less capacity to control exactly how it sounds. The only vocalizations it gets used for these days are emphatic: hissing, growling, screaming, and sincere laughter.

Because I feel like it, I feel like sharing some things I've listened to recently that I liked or found interesting. I'm not good at reviews though you're just going to have to take my word for it.

Love Deluxe (1992) by Sade 🇬🇧 [LP] - Smooth soul, Contemporary R&B, Trip Hop - I feel a bit ridiculous trying to recommend well known and acclaimed things. If there's a stand named after it than what else could I possibly add? Anyways, very moody, sexy music that scratches a similar itch as Mezzanine.

Good. (2022) by The Sawtooth Grin 🇺🇸 [LP]; Mathcore, Sass - Don't think I could have done a harder 180 in tone if I'd actively planned this out, but anyways. This is fun. Very intense and aggressive in a way that tickles my brain.

Pigment (1991) by The Ecstasy of St. Theresa 🇨🇿 [EP] {Noise pop, shoegaze - Short and sweet, but mostly I'm recommending this for Honeyrain.

Hard to be Nice (1985) by Aimless Device 🇧🇪 [EP]; Post-Punk, Goth Rock- The most obscure thing here unless this is really big in Belgium and I'm showing my ass by revealing my ignorance of the Belgian Goth scene, but this is a neat little EP that I think deserves more attention. At least listen to No Friend of Mine.

it isnt something ive really talked about here bc im hesitant to post this sort of thing but ive been idly working on turning a short pornographic story I wrote into a little VN and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh RIP

Another of these because they’re fun to do. Little explanations under the cut

1. WANTS OTHERS TO SEE HIM: Intimidating, respectable, desirable, alien, superior, and yet also more like the people he's fronting too than the way he actually is, humanoid but not human, a specter but not a beast.

2. HOW HE SEES HIMSELF: Zeta constantly feels like he's acting in some kind of production, wielding a silly hand puppet that he's convinced everyone is his actual face. He's convinced everyone of this so thoroughly that 99% of the people he interacts with never actually address him directly, only trying to talk to the puppet and acting like he isn't fully present if they can't see it.

3. HOW HIS FRIENDS SEE HIM: People who spend enough time around Zeta learn that the cold, haughty air of superiority is a façade, and that the 'real' Zeta is an emotionally unstable, melodramatic little diva of a creature that's spiteful, clingy, hideously insecure and desperate to please.

4. HOW HIS ENEMIES SEE HIM: A hungry ghoul with a deeply vindictive personality. If it wasn't for the sheer level of intentional malice it can apply, you'd forget there was it was even a person at all, and not just a demon.

5. HOW STRANGERS SEE HIM: Prince Seventh Temple is a lazy, hedonistic creature that puts in absolutely zero effort into managing its cult beyond making them pour the most fetid wine you've ever smelt down its gullet. It has no ability to direct anything more useful than extremely elaborate sexual roleplays and tends to pick off its own cult with no regard for keeping hierarchies command chains intact. It is a bit of an embarrassment, and we're glad its somewhere we don't have to look at or think about it often.

6. HOW HE ACTUALLY IS: Zeta is a big lizard in gold jewelry.

Random question for artists: how do you stylize human ears when you’re drawing them really quickly/not putting a ton of effort into them. I default to putting a little h in there

I don't give 2 shits about Taylor Swift but honestly the shittiness of her lyricism is such a massive point in her favor and I mean that. Everything else about her is so corporate, the awful janky songwriting is by far her most human quality as an artist. "Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby, And I'm a monster on the hill" is SO baffling. No board room wrote that. That's blisteringly authentic.
