My summer makeup – what I use and why.
My summer makeup routine is quite simple, mainly because I live in the humidity equivalent of a rice cooker. I deal with high humidity and high temperatures all summer long and most of the time, the makeup is just there to make me feel a little more pulled together. So here’s what I use.
Matte concealer – NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Concealer
Depending on the day, I will or won’t let this concealer with a powder. Some days I don’t and the concealer sets on it’s own beautifully, and some days I do since it’s so moist outside that if I don’t it will just come off my face. A matte concealer works to counteract the sweating and humidity that I deal with. If you are looking to emulate this, I would definitely suggest a thin, matte concealer, that way when you do sweat and if the makeup gets broken up, it’s not in thick layers on your skin. The name of the game is thin layers that don’t weigh down your skin.
Highlight – Tower 28 Beauty SuperDew No Shimmer Highlight
I am not a massive fan of powder highlight unless I’m going to be photographed, so I like having a “wet” highlight. This one doesn’t clog my pores or irritate my skin, so that’s why I pick this one. If I get sweaty, the highlight pulls together the (un)intentional dewy look. You’ve just gotta work with the sweat if you live where I do. This highlight looks the most natural on me while still being noticeable. The name of the game with wet highlights is not being able to feel them once they’re applied.
Mascara – elf cosmetics lash ‘n’ roll mascara
Mascara pulls my looks together for me; if I only want to wear one bit of makeup, it’ll usually be mascara. This one is affordable for me, doesn’t irritate my eyes, and wears well. I haven’t had issues with humidity effecting the mascara beyond drooping the eyelashes. I personally go for a more natural lash look without clumping and with tapered length effects on the lashes.
Shimmer eyeshadow – colourpop shadow palettes
I just like shimmer eyeshadow. I go for chunky almost glittery eyeshadows, which make an illusion of moisturized skin from a distance. This is a way to get a ‘wet’ look without actually having sticky eyelids. I like colourpop (eye)shadow a lot, it’s never irritated my eyes or skin, and it’s affordable for me. I reach for Deja Brew in the summer a lot and Petals en Pointe in the winter. I really like one color all over the lid and blended out and these are good for me to do that. You can use literally any eyeshadow though. I would stress having one that you know doesn’t irritate your eyes so that if any sweat gets into your eyes, you can naturally cry/rinse it out with limited irritation.
Matte Lipstick – merit signature lipstick
Soft matte lips are low maintenance and flattering. I personally don’t wear nude lips or natural-coloured lipsticks since I find my lips to be pigmented enough as they are. I’ll normally wear coloured lips if it’s something like a red. The right soft matte lip will feel like nothing on the lips and wear down better than a balmy formula. It also eliminates any stickiness on your lips that may cling to hair or add more weight to your face when your sweating. The soft matte lip isn’t the 2016 caked on matte lipstick, instead it’s a thin layer of matte lipstick or a thin layer of blotted off satin lipstick. This leaves a barely-there feeling while having pigment on your lips.
Lip Oil / Balm – Merit Shade Slick lip oil / Merit flush balm
If you do want that extra slip on your lips, I would still suggest wearing something lighter than a lip gloss. You totally can if that’s what you’re used to, but I find that lip oils and balms tend to be lighter and less sticky. Shade Slick has no fragrance and very flattering shades while the Flush Balm also has no fragrance and has a comfortable balm slip to it. It’s just whichever you prefer. It totally does not have to be these lips that I mentioned; Burts Bees has a really nice tinted lip balm, the drug store has some great lip oils now, and you can even just get a matte lipstick and layer on a little balm on top for the same look.
Overall, this look is just meant to be a little bit more than nothing. It’s for the days where you do want to wear something, but you don’t want to have to lock it down like drag makeup to keep it in place. An aspect of this routine is that it will wear off, just evenly wearing off. Feel free to take this routine and make it your own with what you prefer/what works best for you, and let me know if there are any summer products you swear by.
Happy travels – Annie, the crosseyed cricket.

Reasons why I would not have survived in 2014
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, so listen. I know all of us girls, me included, wish more than anything that we were teens during the 2013-15 girlblogger era. I'm 18, so in 2014 I was literally 7, and I never got the opportunity to be a Tumblr girl then, so I'm living my 2014 dream now! However, although i think I'm made for the 2014 life- living and breathing Tumblr, spending my days reading magazines and wearing cute pjs, pink everything and Victorias Secret, being my best most girly princess self- there are some things nowadays that I could so not live without! This post is to remind all the Tumblr girls how lucky we are to be here in 2025 (the new 2015) xx
1. Disney Plus- Disney Plus was only released in 2019! My favourite thing to do in the evenings is sit with a face mask and watch an old Disney movie. True Tumblr girls are obsessed with Disney, they were really missing out in 2014!
2. The bow trend- There are so many options for girly girls nowadays, I love that everything is covered in bows!
3. Stanley cups- Yall can hate all you want- I love my reusable water bottle. Mine isn't a Stanley, its another brand thats leakproof, with a metal straw and lid (and its way cuter imo), its baby pink and keeps my water cold for hours, I love it! I take it everywhere with me, it makes me feel so put together and like such a girly girl.
4. Skincare options- Tell me why abrasive sugar scrubs were normalised for the FACE in 2014? Everytime I watch old videos I am traumatized by their skincare routines, I honestly wonder what those girls look like now 😭 Even though I find the packaging kind of ugly, Byoma has done wonders for my skin, something I struggled with for so long! I couldn't live without clean skincare and my gua sha, honestly.
5. Clean girl makeup- 2010s makeup had its moment, and its beautiful, but matte makeup doesn't suit me at ALL. Some makeup I see thats insanely dewy or with loads of blush I don't love, but overall I much prefer a less heavy look with more cream products- those block brows were not doing me ANY favors.
6. Charlotte Tilbury- Kind of following on from the last point, there is something so VS angel about Charlotte Tilbury makeup. The packaging, the products, I'm OBSESSED. I love keeping my skin looking like skin, while still being cute!
7. Vogue Beauty Secrets- I don't know when these started, but the oldest ones I've watched are from like 2019. Theres nothing better than watching Vogue Beauty Secrets while getting ready in the morning!
8. Music- Don't get me started! Although I adore music from 2014 and before, 2016-19 was really where its at for me. I couldn't live without Thank U, Next, and some of my fav Taylor Swift songs only came out last year! Sometimes I just need to blast Brat to get through my day, and thats ok!
9. Ugg dupes- You can get them ANYWHERE, in so many styles too! I love my platform fluffy uggs and my ultra mini black ones as much as my regular real uggs, I would never have been able to afford so many options in 2014!
10. Heatless curls- My HOLY GRAIL. Was this a thing in 2014? I honestly don't know! I would not cope without my heatless curls set, not using heat on my hair has made it so healthy, and I look put together from the minute I get out of bed with basically no effort!

how to spice up your summer: a guide by annika 🌺🥥👛
Tumblr media
hi angels! here's a guide to make your summer the best it can possibly be. i know it can be difficult it find things to do in order to "spice things up" and keep things interesting this season, so consider this your first masterclass 🪄
step one: find 3 new places to go
the gym? the bookstore? a new mall? find a few places that u rarely go to & start spending more time there!
to avoid getting bored with life, it's very important to switch up your environment. i highly recommend researching "3rd places" and their importance! i'm making a post soon about places to go during summer, so be on the lookout <3
Tumblr media
step 2: change something about yourself (physical and habitual)
if you're like me, in order to "feel" different, you need to look different. i recommend getting a haircut, dying your hair, getting a tan, getting your nails or lashes done, trying new makeup, getting a new perfume, etc.
as far as habitual changes go, i recommend implementing new habits into your daily routine. try out new hobbies like sewing, working out, making smoothies, making podcast episodes, playing new instrument, literally ANYTHING! don't be scared to try something new.
Tumblr media
step 3: do your daily tasks with your friends
in summer, it's often difficult to come up with opportunities to hangout with your friends. i recommend inviting your friends to join you in everyday routine activities: getting açaí bowls together, becoming gym buddies, tanning together, go swimsuit shopping, etc!
Tumblr media
step 4: out with the old, in with the new!
make sure not to overlook the little things. make a new phone wallpaper and switch out your old playlists for updated ones. in order to feel a shift in energy, you have to make room for different things!
even consider switching up the look of your social media accounts. change your profile pic, remove old photos, MUTE PEOPLE that you don't want to see 💋
Tumblr media
and that's all for today's post! i'll make a part two if it's requested 👼
next post: how to live like a 2014-2016 baddie 🪽

You Are Beautiful and Perfectly Imperfect Just the Way You Are
I am pretty sure everyone wants to feel beautiful, look good and be presentable, be it offline or online. We want to create a good impression of ourselves that reflects our appearance and personality. It is especially evident in our current generation, where we will take great pictures and post them on social media. This consists of our day-to-day activities, outfits of the day (#OOTD), unforgettable moments and so on. It has become a trend of romanticizing mundane daily hustle and bustle. One of the ways we do this is by applying filters to our photos.
What is Filter?
A filter is a process where something is added or removed to distort or alter texts or photos. It has become a significant tool in the social media world (Rettberg 2014 p. 21). It allows us to edit the photos into something more aesthetically pleasing. However, it can also use as a way to entertain us and our friends. For instance, TikTok is known for its interactive filters, such as ‘Which Disney Characters Are You?’. There are so many types of filters, varying from beauty filters to mini-games, and try-on products.
Tumblr media
Filters have come a long way, and we use them daily. It has a couple of benefits to it, especially for brands! It creates a high engagement, which in turn provides a highly memorable experience. Filters are very interactive, and it requires the user’s full attention. Hence, it is wonderful for advertising a product or service, as it proves to have 70% memory recall, as compared to traditional advertising (Hamilton 2022).
Plus, it also enhances the purchasing journey of customers. People do not need to go to physical stores anymore. We can merely try on makeup products through this technology, which can influence spontaneous buying (Hamilton 2022). On top of that, filters are such a pleasure to experiment with, especially the ones that highlight your greatest features and make you feel cute (Belle 2018). I mean, who does not like that, right?
But there are a few cons to Filters...
Unfortunately, it can distort our perception of reality, especially beauty filters. It becomes even worse with the beauty representation depicted through media and society. Society tends to pressure both men and women on a specific beauty standard needed to accomplish to be more socially desirable. This could create a person to have body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). Those with this disorder are concerned with some aspects of their appearance that they find unattractive (Coy-Dibley 2016 p. 2). It can become serious when one starts experiencing anxiety and obsession over their appearance through compulsive habits and routines, such as non-stop grooming and hiding certain ‘unattractive’ body areas (Coy-Dibley 2016 p. 3).
Tumblr media
Hence, numerous images portrayed by the media have a massive impact on those with BDD or those who are highly insecure. According to Orbach, we can see that many industries play on people’s body insecurities, highlighting them and all their supposed physical faults. They emphasize how these can be modified to look ‘better’, shaping the idealized concept of beauty. I believe we can all agree that the media and society sometimes have a ridiculous beauty standard that is unceasingly narrow and unrealistic (Coy-Dibley 2016 p. 3).
According to a survey in 2017 by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), cosmetic surgeons first recognized a pattern of patients seeking surgery to better mimic how they appear using filters. In line with the results of that survey, 55% of surgeons reported seeing patients who wanted surgery primarily to enhance their appearance in selfies. In agreement with the previous point, in a 2015 study that looked at the impact of edited selfies on young girls' body dissatisfaction, people who regularly edit their photos are more concerned about their bodies and are more inclined to develop a distorted view of how they actually look.
“I just see a lot of images that are just really unrealistic, and it sets up unrealistic expectations for patients because they’re trying to look like a fantasized version of themselves,” - Dr Vashi
Body Positivity Movement
In recent years, there has been a monumental shift in how bodies are represented in the media. Now you can see multiple plus-size celebrities on the screen, from fashion advertising to television shows. Big influential brands, such as H&M, have extended their clothing line to cater to those who are plus size (Yeboah 2020).
youtube
Other than that, makeup brands start expanding their shade range to provide for various skin colours. I am sure you would have heard of Fenty Beauty, a cosmetic brand that became one of the first makeup brands to launch 50 shades, which include albinos and dark-skinned people.
Tumblr media
Now people are starting to accept that people come in different shapes, sizes and colours. Everyone deserves to be celebrated, and everyone is beautiful just the way they are.
Although of course that this movement still has a long way to go. We can still see many nasty and insensitive comments due to the deep-rooted beauty standards in our society. Despite it, we must all uplift one another and create awareness, and with this, it can dismantle the toxic and hazardous narratives about unrealistic beauty standards by the media (Yeboah 2020). Together, we can create a safe space for every person to accept and love themselves.

hiiii today's reminder is why am I so easily influenced. i wear a full face of makeup three times a year but I have a full cart on an app because i saw a bunch of reels about Barbie makeup looks. also insane because that also goes with none of the clothes i own. also also insane because the entire reason I spend so much on skincare is so that I can skip most of my base makeup and just do some highlighter and blush and eye and lip stuff and call it a day. why are these influencers convincing me I need a foundation that's worth half my paycheck when I have literally structured my purchases around not needing foundation????
Hiiii, and seriously influencers really influence too hard. And make you think you need this one thing that you've isolated from your routine for a reason. But like they use it and you second guess yourself like I dunno it does look good I mean it could be worth it and it never is. I also don't use any face products except for blush in the winter and the times I'm like well maybe a light coverage foundation would be worth a try. It was Charlotte Tilbury, why would I spend that much on something I want to try. It's a trick. Remember it's all a trick to get your monies. Don't let them rewire your absolute perfect strategy. Seriously that is such a smart idea. My skin isn't the best but it's acceptable just really dry but it's just too hot to fuss with foundation. I just throw on glitter, liner and like fifteen different lip glosses. So don't let the influencers influence you. You don't need it.
But all the Barbie stuff oh it is tempting. But like how my best friend takes Sanrio seriously. I take Barbie seriously. I have to sit down and think do I like it or is it just pink and says Barbie. I only genuinely like a few things mainly purses. Like this dream house backpack. I think I'm going to bypass all of the Barbie and just get that. Dolls not included. I will get a doll. The clothes eh. Only hot topic has my size and I'm not impressed theyre sanrio collection is better I don't know why they failed barbie. Im also picky about barbie content. Like if I know they're die hard about barbie I'll watch them but they're just following the trend I know the difference. Trisha Paytas? She named her daughter Malibu Barbie and talked about that name in 2017. An icon. Trixie Mattel? Mattel!! Trixie Mattel!! Need I say more. I didn't even want to watch the try guys Barbie video.
There's a YouTuber I've watched since 2014 and I remember she said she wasn't a barbie girl and just had a barbie as a gift she liked anime figures. But she reviewed the Barbie movie outfits. I almost unfollowed. Don't hop on the Barbie wave now. Everyone was all about Bratz for years saying Bratz were better than Barbie. More diverse than Barbie. More Diverse than Barbara Millicent Roberts? Barbie created their first black doll in the 60s. Not long after the conception of Barbie. Like you're just gonna disrespect Christie, Teresa and Lea. There's like 80 Barbies of the world from the 90s. Also Bratz dolls look weird there I said it they look weird and I still hate their feet to this day it angered me as a child and it still does. My Scene was better. Mattel took Bratz and made it better and their outfits were cuter. I am so sorry, if you mention Barbie I will go on an absolutely out of my mind tangent I am so sorry. I apologize for my behavior.
And that's why Monster high destroyed Bratz in 2010. I'm done now. Sorry.

 July 13 2014
Up until 4 months ago all my selfies were no-make-up selfies (minus the occasional lipstick). And in four months time I've slowly made my morning routine a lot longer. From the time I started apprenticing at the hair salon my instructor has been very critical of me. He tells me all the time that I’m too shy for this industry and because of my personality I’ll never make it. He somehow has no idea that the way he treats me directly affects how I act around him. I mostly just try to stay out of his way and avoid being in the same room with him if I can. He’s generally very short with me, and wholly unappreciative of what I do to anticipate daily work needs. He’s not nice, but he had yet to say anything about my appearance. Until he did. He said the beauty industry is a business of professionalism and aspiration and that in order to fit the part I needed to start wearing makeup. He told me to ask Jessica if she could practice eyelash extensions on me. He also insisted on adding gold highlights to my dyed-copper hair. None of this was explicitly required of me, mind you. But I let him bully me into changing.
I’ve had a little bit of acne cropping up in the last while because I’ve been so stressed which is definitely not “on brand” with the beauty industry and I've turned to wearing more makeup to try to camouflage it. But I miss the ease of getting ready, and the knowledge that I could do whatever I wanted and not worry that my face is rubbing off. I miss not feeling like I look totally undone in my natural form.
How does that happen? My whole life I've been just fine with this face the way it is, and suddenly I feel naked without the trimming, even if I don’t even particularly like it. I think the key is to not let myself get to a point where I feel dependent on it like I can’t be presentable without it. There are lots of things that help me feel comfortable with myself, and I don’t think makeup is one of them. I think makeup makes me feel comfortable with other people, and it's not really for me at all.

Im new to tumblr, so im sorry if the formatting or anything is weird. But i wanted to post my opinions because i feel like a lot of people have a very narrowed way of looking at things.
Theres a deeper reasoning as to why children crave life pre covid, and by children i mean preteens or teenagers. Im 15 btw.
Ive seen many videos on the internet romanticizing 2016 and 2014 (mainly posted by kids my age), and a lot of people who were teens in that time period think it's absolutely ridiculous.
Even though kids are mainly romanizing the aesthetics, they also crave that feeling that the 2010s had. Things were less expensive and the music was so much more cheerful.
But also, nowadays the internet is much more suffocating. Everything we have is on here, school, photos, friends, hobbies etc. Ive never had the experience of meeting kids in my neighborhood, because we weren't allowed to go outside because of the dangers.
Honestly i blame the internet for that too, although its great that i can see all the crimes and pedophiles in my area, im not allowed to go outside now.
A lot of my friends arent allowed to hang out afterschool, and if they do their parents literally follow them in their car. So i guess i blame strict parents too.
But the world isnt more dangerous, we are more aware of the danger. America is much less dangerous than it was 20 years ago, and yet kids go outside less.
Social media is so toxic now too. although cyber bullying has always been a problem, it feels like ive been seeing an influx of it the past few years. It feels like every video i see has "cringe" or "this just pmo" under it, and i know theres always been comments like this but its gotten so bad that theres no uniqueness in anyones posts.
And because so many children rely on the internet for their style, they aren't unique either. The amount of people at my school that all dress the same is crazy, and i mean its cute, but wheres the personality?
Basically, kids my age are craving a life where the internet is free, and theres less pressure from the outside world. We WANT to hang out with our friends, but we CANT. We want to go to the beach and do cliche 2014 activities but we CANT.
Dont even get me started on how the romantization of over consumption as affected the youth. Especially girls.
People can wear what they like, but 12/13 year old girls typically DONT have have full faces of makeup, new nail sets every 2 weeks, long haircare and skincare routines (when it isn't necessary), and like new shoes every season.. These used to be considered LUXURY, but now because of trends and the pressure to be beautiful, young girls feel the need to conform to these.
some girls do this entirely out of freewill, but what they consume online also contributes to this.
In the early 2010s most people posting were young adults or teens, but now i mainly see young adults and fully grown adults. People with children, have graduated from college, etc.
Not necessarily a bad thing that they post, but kids mimic what they see. And since they are seeing 25 year olds with fake lashes and 17 step haircare routines, they want to do that too.
Which explains the whole "sephora kid thing"
But yeah.. kids want freedom. the 2010s provided that.

Von der Leyen’s ‘cabinet’ for the next five years did not quite achieve gender parity. Its makeup also reflects how Poland’s clout has improved in Brussels since the Tusk government took power, while Hungary’s star continues to wane.
After weeks of intensive negotiations with the 27 EU member states – and several last-minute changes – the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced on Tuesday her ‘cabinet’ that will serve under her for the next five years.
The European Commission is a college of 27 commissioners, with each member responsible for a specific area – similar to ministers in national governments.
Commissioners typically have political affiliations that often reflect a major party of the country from which they hail, although they never – or at least should not – represent it at the EU level: EU treaties prohibit commissioners from taking instructions from national governments, even informally, to ensure the full independence of the institution from the governments of member states, especially the most powerful ones.
Another principle of EU treaties is that each member of the college is equal – and each commissioner has an equal responsibility to deliver on the Commission’s priorities. Yet that’s an artifice – some portfolios are clearly more important than others, and the area awarded to a member state’s commissioner reflects the importance of that country within the EU and its relationship with the leaders of the Commission.
Let’s look at how the countries of Central and Southeast Europe fared when the jobs were parcelled out.
Poland
Piotr Serafin, 50, got the portfolio of Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, as had been agreed already in August by Polish Prime Minister Tusk and Commission President von der Leyen; Polish President Andrzej Duda also agreed to Serafin’s nomination at the time.
Serafin is Poland’s current permanent representative to the EU and a long-term Brussels insider. As such, he is expected to pass the obligatory European Parliament hearings on nominations, expected in November, without serious difficulty.
Serafin is considered an expert on EU budgetary matters, which he has been dealing with since 1998, when he first joined Poland’s team in charge of EU accession negotiations. He is one of a few Brussels officials to carry the nickname “calculator”, i.e. those capable of quickly and mentally translating agreements into hard amounts each country should receive or pay.
He has held important positions related to Poland’s EU membership either with the Commission or Polish government ever since.
Importantly, Serafin was the head of Tusk’s cabinet when the latter was president of the European Council between 2014 and 2019, and enjoys the full trust of the current prime minister. “An extraordinary expert… I have full trust towards him, especially since the times when we jointly fought together for more money for Poland back in 2013. It’s primarily thanks to him that we got more money than we ever expected,” Tusk wrote about Serafin in his 2019 memoir Honestly.
“Because of his role in the upcoming Commission, his huge experience in Brussels and strong relationship with Tusk, Serafin has a big chance to break through the usual hierarchy and become one of the people that von der Leyen consults with on finance matters,” Tomasz Bielecki, himself a long-term Brussels observer and correspondent for major Polish publications, wrote in the Polityka weekly. Bielecki added that, this time around, finances are more than a boring routine job, but a particularly challenging portfolio in the context of major new expenses related to defence and the future membership of Ukraine.
Hungary
Oliver Varhelyi, who in the previous college held the important Neighbourhood and Enlargement portfolio, has been offered this time around Health and Animal Welfare. Many consider this a slap in the face to the controversial commissioner and a clear message to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that the Commission is tired of his government’s disloyalty and defiance.
Health and healthcare issues are managed by the member states and the EU has – in normal conditions – no competence here. In the exceptional case of pandemics, however, it could gain in importance. Animal health is seen mostly as a farce. The European Greens applauded the establishment of a commissioner for animal welfare, but they doubt whether it will be in good hands with Varhelyi.
Varhelyi has a reputation of being a loyal servant of Prime Minister Orban and a key ally of Serbia in the EU accession process, turning a blind eye to its democratic deficiencies. He is also rumoured to be a difficult person to work with who often resorts to using harsh language with colleagues. In a European Parliament debate, with his microphone accidentally switched on, he famously called MEPS “fools”.
Hungarian Minister of European Affairs Janos Boka commented on Varhelyi’s nomination by praising him as a highly successful commissioner for enlargement. “His qualities are much needed in his new portfolio: pharmaceuticals and health industry are among the EU’s competitive edges, and together we can fight stronger against epidemics”.
Varhelyi can expect to be severely grilled by MEPs at his nomination hearing in the European Parliament and he leads a short list of those who might not be endorsed, even if he comes well prepared. Varhelyi was the second – revenge – choice for Orban in 2019, when his original candidate, former justice minister Laszlo Trocsanyi, was rejected by the European Parliament over conflicts of interests.
Czech Republic
Czech Industry Minister Jozef Sikela, a nominee of junior coalition partner STAN, has been put in charge of the International Partnerships portfolio.
The 57-year-old Sikela had long been rumoured to be named commissioner for energy or trade – even defence – most notably for his leading role in steering bloc-wide negotiations on Europe’s energy crisis and related issues Czechia’s 2022 presidency of the Council of the EU.
Thus, Tuesday’s announcement has been described by some as a blow to Prague’s hopes and expectations, though others stress that the portfolio “contains everything that was previously mentioned” in regards to Czechia’s nominee. Formerly held by Finland’s Jutta Urpilainen, the post oversees the EU’s development policy and international cooperation, including the EU’s counter-Belt and Road, 300-billion-euro-strong Global Gateway initiative for infrastructure investments in Africa and other countries from the Global South.
The portfolio “will give me the opportunity to focus on strengthening economic security, diversifying our supplies of critical raw materials and opening up new markets for European companies”, Sikela wrote on X, while Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala appeared content with his industry minister receiving “a strong economic portfolio” and “one of the largest directorates-general” of the new Commission.
Opposition party ANO’s vice-chairman Karel Havlicek responded to the announcement by saying that the Czech government had received an “invisible portfolio”, proof of Prague playing “third fiddle” in the EU despite the coalition’s “servile policy” towards Brussels.
Slovakia
The disappointment in Prague may be relative, in that von der Leyen picked her trade commissioner from just across the border: Slovakia’s Maros Sefcovic. A former presidential candidate, long-time EU commissioner and member of Slovak Prime Minister Fico’s ruling Smer party, Sefcovic was handed the powerful Trade and Economic Security portfolio, while also keeping his previous position in charge of inter-institutional relations and transparency.
The nomination is widely seen as a reward for the 58-year-old Slovak politician’s long career within European circles at a time when the Fico-led government in Bratislava is causing increasing headaches to EU leaders.
A well-known figure in the Brussels bubble, Bratislava’s former envoy to the EU and a short-lived Commission president hopeful, Sefcovic has been a European Commissioner for 15 years, with successive portfolios including culture and education, energy, and inter-institutional relations, in addition to several short-term caretaker jobs in the bloc’s executive.
On social media, Sefcovic thanked Ursula von der Leyen for the appointment, saying the task at hand was “crucial for the EU’s standing both at home and internationally”.
Romania
Roxana Minzatu has been entrusted with the People, Competences and Training portfolio and will also serve as a vice-president of the Commission.
“I am thrilled to entrust Roxana Minzatu with the role of executive vice-president for people, skills and training. She will be responsible for skills, education, culture, quality jobs, and social rights. This is under the umbrella of demographics,” said von der Leyen. “Roxana will, in particular, lead a Union of competencies and the European pillar of social rights. It will focus on those essential to uniting our society.”
Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced Minzatu’s candidacy on September 2. The Commission insisted that Romania send a woman to this position of European Commissioner to ensure a parity balance in the future European executive. She is one of 11 women in this college of commissioners (including von der Leyen).
Minzatu, 44, heads the Department for Integrated Evaluation and Monitoring of programs financed by public and European funds, with the rank of state secretary. She has wide experience in handling European funds, acquired both in the private sector, in non-governmental organisations and through public functions.
Since 2004, she has been an integration advisor in the Romanian European Integration Ministry. She was a consultant, project manager and trainer for companies in Bucharest, Brussels and Brasov.
She also led the foundation of the Romanian Business School-Brasov; she prepared and implemented projects with European or national funding for companies, local public administrations, and NGOs.
In 2015, Minzatu held the high position of state secretary in the Ministry of European Funds. Her leadership was further recognised when she was appointed as the president of the National Agency for Public Procurement.
She served a mandate as PSD Brasov deputy (2016-2020] and was minister of European funds (June 10 – November 4, 2019).
Bulgaria
Bulgaria’s sole candidate Ekaterina Zaharieva was selected to be the EU’s commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation.
Born in 1975 in the town of Pazardjik, Zaharieva gradually built a political career in Bulgaria, through ex-prime minister Boyko Borissov’s party GERB – the dominant force in Bulgarian politics since 2008 despite a reputation tarnished by corruption scandals.
After working as a lawyer and legal advisor to Bulgaria’s Ministry of Environment and Water in the 2000s, Zaharieva entered politics in 2009 when she became the deputy minister of regional development to the minister Rosen Plevneliev, who later became president.
During Plevneliev’s mandate, she became a deputy prime minister in the 2013 interim cabinet of Marin Raykov, amid a protest wave against GERB’s governance and the first resignation of Borissov, who would eventually win back power. She also served as a deputy to interim prime minister Georgi Bliznashki in 2014 and then as a full-time deputy to Borissov between 2017-2021, during GERB’s coalition with the now defunct far-right alliance United Patriots.
She matched this position with being Bulgaria’s foreign minister (2017-2021), a period in which she stayed close to Borissov and GERB’s hardline politics towards North Macedonia and Bulgaria’s veto on Skopje’s accession to the EU over historical and cultural disputes. Her political experience also includes a stint as a justice minister between 2015-2017.
On September 9, Zaharieva received the nomination to be a commissioner from interim Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, a former longtime GERB member. This was criticised by the opposition (We Continue the Change / Democratic Bulgaria), which had hoped former environment minister Julian Popov would be nominated.
Previously, a similarly-worded position (EU commissioner on Innovation, Research, Education, Culture and Youth) was occupied by another Bulgarian politician, again close to GERB – Mariya Gabriel, who came back to Sofia in 2023 to become a prime minister through a planned rotation in 2024, a plan which did not see the light of the day after the dissolution of the last coalition.
Croatia
Dubravka Suica will be the commissioner for The Mediterranean – a new department in the Commission. “I am entrusting her with this new role,” said von der Leyen, adding that Suica will also be responsible for the wider southern neighbourhood.
Until now, there was a commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement of the EU in the Commission, but that has changed with this new composition. The commissioner for EU Enlargement and the Eastern Neighbourhood is expected to be Slovenia’s Marta Kos, who has not yet been confirmed by the Slovenian parliament.
Suica is a Croatian politician of the centre-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), who has served as a vice-president of the Commission and commissioner for Democracy and Demography since 2019. She previously served as a member of the European Parliament from 2013 to 2019.
Greece
Apostolos Tzitzikostas will be the commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, responsible for the mobility of goods and people. “These are essential sectors for our competitiveness but also for our transitions, for connecting people and driving local economies,” said von der Leyen.
Tzitzikostas, 46, is a member of the governing party of New Democracy. Since 2013, he has served as governor of the region of Central Macedonia, and was elected head of the Greek delegation and vice-president of the European Committee of the Region from 2020 until 2022.
Not always the model European, Tzitzikostas criticised the 2019 ratification of the Prespa Agreement – an agreement reached in 2018 between Greece and the then-Republic of Macedonia, under the auspices of the United Nations, that resolved a long-standing name dispute between the two countries – calling it harmful and dangerous for Greece. He also participated in a protest against the agreement organised in Athens in January 2019,
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his satisfaction with his nominee’s role in the new Commission. He said that Greece’s portfolio highlights the geopolitical importance of Greece and its strategic position as a gateway country for trade, energy and networking, and its important role in connectivity and transport.
He also highlighted Greece’s success in convincing the Commission to include tourism in its portfolio. “We succeeded and convinced the European Commission that Tourism deserves its own place in European policies. And its space is Greek, as Greece is a pioneer in sustainable tourism development and can contribute with proposals and initiatives in the direction of sustainable tourism and infrastructure improvement,” Mitsotakis said.
Kostas Arvanitis, an MEP of the leftwing SYRIZA party, accused the Greek government of New Democracy and Commission President von der Leyen and Roberta Metsola, president of the European Parliament, of trying to cover up the fatal train crash in Tempi, which cost 57 lives in 2023, by nominating Tzitzikostas as a commissioner.
“With the help of Ursula Von der Leyen and Roberta Metsola, the [Greek] government is trying to build a wall around the Tempi crash,” Arvanitis wrote on X, adding that, “Apostolos Tzitzikostas as transport commissioner and Eliza Vosenberg as head of the Committee on Transport and Tourism, TRAN, in the European Parliament will do everything they can to ensure that Europe does not push for transparency and justice.”

CHAPTER 4: HEARTS IN CONFLICT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fans begin to question the future of The Shield after Seth's betrayal. What will happen now? Is it the end for The Shield?
JUNE 6, 2014
7:30 PM
Amore and Raven were sprawled out on the couch in the locker room , their laughter filling the air as they engaged in lighthearted banter about trivial things that somehow managed to hold their interest.
Amore was the one doing most of the talking, her words flowing freely as she regaled Raven with stories and anecdotes that had them both in stitches. Raven, on the other hand, listened with amusement, her laughter punctuating Amore's ramblings as she shook her head in mock disbelief.
Just as the girls were settling into their comfortable routine, the door swung open, and Roman and Dean entered the locker room, their expressions serious at first before softening into proud smiles as they watched the scene before them unfold.
Despite the weight of their responsibilities as members of The Shield, Roman and Dean couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and pride as they watched Amore and Raven laughing together like old times. In that moment, they saw not just their friends, but their little sisters, and they couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for the two girls who had become such an integral part of their lives.
With a shared glance, Roman and Dean exchanged knowing smiles, silently acknowledging the bond they shared with Amore and Raven. They may have been warriors in the ring, but in that moment, surrounded by the laughter and joy of their friends, they were reminded of the true meaning of family.
"I'm happy to see you two idiots finally talking again," Roman said with a smirk, his tone teasing but affectionate. "And I don't wanna ruin the moment, but we have to go to the ring in a few minutes. Vince McMahon asked us to open SmackDown, and you know," he let out a breath, "talk about what happened last Monday."
"That asshole wants us to talk about this already?" Raven exclaimed incredulously, her voice dripping with disdain as she scoffed at the idea. Amore sighed softly, her fingers delicately playing with Raven's hair as she offered her silent support. "We'll be fine," Amore reassured Raven, her tone soothing. "And we shouldn't be too surprised that he asked us to do this so quickly... you know how Vince is."
Everyone in the room nodded in agreement, acknowledging the truth in Amore's words. Dean, ever the blunt one, finally spoke up with a scowl on his face. "He's a fucking dickhead, that's what he is." His words were met with a chorus of murmured agreements, the frustration and resentment towards Vince McMahon palpable in the air.
Roman let out a small chuckle at Dean's blunt assessment of Vince McMahon, but he nodded in agreement nonetheless. "Anyways, let's get our heads in the game and try not to be too distracted, okay? We need to keep our professionalism in the ring and bite our tongues so we don't say certain things. Make sure your gear, makeup, and hair are all good because time is ticking." His tone was firm but encouraging, reminding everyone of the task at hand and the importance of presenting themselves well in front of the audience.
As The Shield's theme song blared through the arena speakers, the crowd erupted into a frenzy of cheers and excitement, eager to see what would unfold next. Some fans watched with bated breath, their hearts pounding with anticipation, while others whispered anxiously among themselves, wondering if this would mark the end of The Shield as they knew it.
As Roman , Dean , Raven and Amore made their way down the ramp and towards the ring, the energy in the arena reached a fever pitch. Fans screamed and chanted their names, their voices echoing throughout the stadium in a cacophony of sound.
Despite the cheers and adulation from the crowd, there was a palpable sense of tension lingering in the air. The members of The Shield kept their heads held high as they marched towards the ring, but the pain of Seth's betrayal still weighed heavily on their hearts.
As they climbed into the ring, the anticipation reached a fever pitch. Fans leaned forward in their seats, their eyes glued to the action unfolding before them, unsure of what would happen next. For some, it felt like the beginning of the end, while for others, it was a turning point that would redefine the legacy of The Shield forever.
Amore made her way to the ropes where the commentators were stationed, her steps purposeful yet graceful. A staff member approached her, holding out four microphones, one for each member of The Shield. With a soft smile, Amore accepted the microphones, thanking the staff member for their assistance.
Turning back towards her fellow Shield members, Amore's gaze softened as she approached them, the weight of the moment settling over her like a heavy blanket. With careful precision, she handed each member their individual microphone, her touch gentle yet firm.
As she passed the microphones to Roman, Dean, and Raven, Amore's eyes met theirs, silently conveying her support and solidarity. Despite the turmoil and uncertainty that surrounded them, they were united in their purpose, standing together as a team in the face of adversity.
Roman's deep voice resonated through the arena as he brought the microphone to his mouth, commanding the attention of everyone present. The hushed anticipation hung heavy in the air, a palpable tension that seemed to reverberate with every word he spoke.
"Last Monday night, something unexpected happened," Roman began, his tone measured yet laced with emotion. "None of us knew that Seth had this plan... plan of betrayal brewing up inside of him."
As his words echoed through the arena, a somber mood settled over the crowd, the weight of his revelation sinking in. Roman's expression was grave as he spoke, his eyes reflecting the pain and confusion that still lingered in the aftermath of Seth's betrayal.
"We're all filled with resentment and pain after it all happened," Roman continued, his voice steady despite the turmoil roiling within him. "The man I once called my brother, backstabbed me - backstabbed US."
The words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of their shared betrayal. The silence that followed was deafening, the crowd absorbing Roman's words with a mix of shock and disbelief. But amidst the pain and uncertainty, there was also a sense of solidarity, a shared determination to overcome the challenges that lay ahead.
As Roman lowered the microphone, his gaze swept over the crowd, his expression resolute. Despite the betrayal they had faced, he knew that they would emerge stronger, united in their resolve to reclaim their honor and their bond as brothers.
As Amore raised the microphone to her lips, a hush fell over the arena, the fans hanging onto her every word with bated breath. They had not expected her to speak, let alone to address the betrayal with such fervor and conviction. But as her voice filled the air, laced with resentment and pain, they couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness for the once-unbreakable bond that had been shattered by Seth's betrayal.
"All of us are torn between what to think and believe after Seth had done to us," Amore began, her voice trembling with emotion. "But if there's one thing we're sure of, it's the fact that..."
Her words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of their shared pain and disillusionment. The fans leaned in, their eyes widening in shock as they listened to Amore's impassioned words. She was always the epitome of kindness and compassion, but now, her voice carried an edge of anger and betrayal that was palpable.
"No matter what happens," Amore continued, her voice rising with each word, "the Authority will never cherish or love him the way we did. Because the Authority isn't family. They are just sick people who could care less about Seth."
The arena erupted into murmurs of disbelief, the fans stunned by the raw emotion in Amore's words. They had never heard her speak with such intensity before, and it was clear that her anger was fueled by the depth of her love and loyalty to Seth and their shared bond as a family.
As Raven slowly raised the microphone to her lips, a sense of hesitation flickered in her eyes, betraying the turmoil raging within her. The fans watched with bated breath, their anticipation mounting as they waited to hear what she would say. Many of them had shipped Raven and Seth together, captivated by their undeniable chemistry and believing in the depth of their connection.
"It pains me to even have to acknowledge the fact that Seth betrayed us, his family," Raven began, her voice tinged with sadness and disappointment. "What Amore said is true, though. The Authority would and probably will betray him very quickly."
Her words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of their shared pain and disillusionment. The fans listened intently, their hearts aching as they felt the rawness of Raven's emotions.
"As soon as they cannot use him anymore," Raven continued, her voice growing stronger with each word, "they'll throw him out like he was nothing but an empty cup need to be thrown out."
The arena fell into stunned silence, Raven's words echoing in the air like a solemn proclamation. The fans could feel the truth in her words, and they couldn't help but be moved by the depth of her love and loyalty to Seth, despite his betrayal.
Dean brought the microphone to his lips, his expression dark and his voice laced with anger. It was evident to everyone present that when Dean was hurt, his anger was quick to surface, masking any other emotion.
"We did everything for Seth and loved him like a brother," Dean began, his tone low yet brimming with raw honesty. "If anybody was to try and hurt him, we wouldn't hesitate to tear that person to shreds."
His words resonated throughout the arena, carrying with them the weight of their shared history and the depth of their loyalty to Seth. The fans listened intently, their hearts heavy with the realization of the betrayal they had all experienced.
"It was a jackass move from him to do what he did last Monday," Dean continued, his voice growing more impassioned with each word. "We all know that the Authority will get bored of him soon, and he'll feel what we felt last Monday."
His words were met with a mixture of murmurs and nods of agreement from the crowd, who understood the truth behind Dean's blunt assessment of the situation. As the weight of their collective anger hung heavy in the air, it was clear that Seth's betrayal had left a deep scar on their hearts, one that would not easily be healed.
"But I promise you all that our revenge will come—" Dean's words were abruptly cut off as the microphone was knocked out of his hand, sending a jolt of surprise through the arena. Before anyone could react, chaos erupted as Dean was suddenly attacked by an unseen assailant.
The crowd erupted into a cacophony of boos and screams as members of The Shield found themselves overwhelmed by the sudden assault from the Authority. The air crackled with tension as the two factions clashed, fists flying and bodies crashing against the unforgiving canvas of the ring.
Despite their best efforts to fight back, The Shield found themselves struggling to gain the upper hand against their adversaries. The Authority's ambush had caught them off guard, leaving them reeling and vulnerable in the face of their enemies' relentless onslaught.
Amidst the chaos, Roman, Dean, Amore, and Raven fought side by side, their bond as strong as ever even in the face of overwhelming odds. With each blow they exchanged, they drew strength from each other, their determination to overcome their enemies unshaken by the chaos unfolding around them.
As Raven finally found her strength and pushed Charlotte harshly against the ropes, a sense of triumph surged through her. However, her victory was short-lived as Charlotte retaliated, launching another attack that left Raven reeling and gasping for breath in the corner of the ring.
Amore, seeing her friend in distress, sprang into action, landing a harsh punch on Charlotte and momentarily stunning her. But before she could follow through, Rhonda intervened, pulling Amore back and launching a vicious assault of her own.
The crowd erupted into cheers and jeers as Seth made his presence known, his eyes scanning the chaos unfolding in the ring. But when his gaze fell upon Raven being attacked in the corner, a wave of anger washed over him. Triple H had promised him that Raven would be safe, and yet here she was, vulnerable and under attack.
Without hesitation, Seth's hands clenched around the steel chair in his grasp, his focus shifting from Triple H to the chaos unfolding before him. In a sudden burst of rage, he swung the chair with brutal force, the metal connecting with Triple H's back in a resounding clang.
The impact sent shockwaves through the arena, the sound reverberating through the air. The crowd fell silent for a moment, stunned by Seth's sudden betrayal, before erupting into a frenzy of cheers and applause.
As Raven caught a glimpse of Seth betraying Triple H, a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips, a flicker of hope reigniting within her. Roman, on the other hand, stared at Seth with wide-eyed shock, his anger simmering beneath the surface.
The tension between Seth and Roman was palpable, their fractured brotherhood casting a shadow over the chaos unfolding in the ring. For a moment, they simply stared at each other, the weight of their shared history weighing heavily on their shoulders.
But before the moment could stretch on any longer, Randy Orton launched himself at Seth, intent on delivering a punishing RKO. Without hesitation, Roman sprang into action, leaping up from where he was seated and intercepting Randy with a powerful spear, sending both men crashing to the mat in a heap.
The crowd erupted into a frenzy as they watched the chaos unfolding before them. Seth paused for a moment, his lips pressed together in contemplation, before lifting the steel chair high above his head once more and bringing it crashing down on Triple H once again.
Meanwhile, Raven tapped into a well of newfound strength, fueled by the betrayal she had witnessed and the determination to fight back. With a fierce determination, she overpowered Charlotte, seizing control of the situation and delivering her signature finisher with precision and force.
As Seth turned to face Dean's accusing gaze, a mix of guilt and determination flashed across his features. Before he could respond, Triple H seized the opportunity to strike, shoving Seth forcefully onto the mat with a brutal shove. Seth hit the canvas with a thud, momentarily stunned by the unexpected attack.
Triple H wasted no time, immediately following up with a series of punishing wrestling moves. He started with a vicious clothesline, knocking Seth back to the mat, followed by a powerful spinebuster that sent shockwaves through the ring. With Seth reeling on the canvas, Triple H locked in a tight headlock, squeezing with all his might to cut off Seth's air supply and weaken him further.
But just as Triple H seemed to have the upper hand, Raven launched herself at him with a ferocity that took everyone by surprise. With a fierce determination, she tackled Triple H to the ground, unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks
The crowd erupted into cheers and screams as they watched Raven take on Triple H, her relentless assault fueling their excitement. Amidst the chaos, Dean's anger and confusion only intensified as he watched Seth's actions unfold before him.
As Raven unleashed her fury on Triple H, her punches and kicks were fueled by a potent mix of anger and determination. Each blow landed with precision and force, sending shockwaves through Triple H's body and leaving him reeling on the mat.
The raw intensity of Raven's assault was evident in every movement, her eyes blazing with righteous fury as she fought tooth and nail to defend Seth and stand up to the tyranny of the Authority. She didn't hold back, channeling all her pent-up frustration and pain into each strike, determined to make Triple H pay for trying to even place his hands on Seth.
But as the adrenaline of the moment began to fade, Raven felt a gentle hand on her shoulder, pulling her back from the brink of her rage. It was Seth, slightly injured but still standing strong, his presence a soothing balm amidst the chaos of the ring.
"I'm okay, pretty girl," Seth reassured her, his voice calm and steady despite the chaos around them. His words cut through the haze of anger that clouded Raven's mind, grounding her in the reality of the situation and reminding her that they were in this together.
In that moment, as Seth's comforting words washed over her, Raven felt a sense of calm wash over her. She took a deep breath, allowing the tension to melt away as she leaned into Seth's reassuring embrace. Despite the chaos and uncertainty swirling around them, they found solace in each other's presence, a silent reminder of the strength and resilience that bound them together as friends and allies.
As Stephanie McMahon rushed down the ramp in her high heels, her face contorted with worry and fear as she saw her husband lying injured in the ring. She struggled to maintain her balance, nearly tripping several times in her haste to reach Triple H's side.
Behind her, a team of security guards followed closely, their expressions grim as they assessed the situation unfolding before them. With practiced efficiency, they rushed to Triple H's aid, carefully helping him to his feet and ushering him out of the ring.
Stephanie's heart pounded in her chest as she watched the scene unfold, her mind racing with concern for her husband's well-being. She couldn't bear to see him hurt, especially at the hands of those she considered allies.
As Triple H was escorted out of the ring, Stephanie turned her attention to the Shield members, her gaze meeting their defiant stares with a mixture of anger and frustration. She knew that they were responsible for her husband's injuries, and she vowed to make them pay for what they had done.
But even as Stephanie glared at the Shield with fury in her eyes, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the pit of her stomach.
As Stephanie McMahon and the rest of the Authority members were escorted backstage, the arena erupted in a chorus of boos, the crowd showing their disdain for the group that had long held power over the WWE. Their anger was palpable, a tangible force that reverberated throughout the arena.
In the ring, the tension between Seth and Raven was thick, their eyes locked in a silent exchange that spoke volumes. Amore, still recovering in the corner of the ring, watched them with a heavy heart, her own injuries forgotten as she observed her best friend and the man she had once cared for deeply.
With a heavy sigh, Seth finally broke the silence, his voice barely above a whisper as he uttered a simple "I'm sorry." It was a fleeting moment, but in that brief instant, Raven could see the regret and pain etched in his features.
Before Raven could respond, Seth slid out of the ring and began to make his way backstage, leaving her alone with her unanswered questions and a heart heavy with emotion. As she watched him go, Raven couldn't help but feel a sense of loss, knowing that things between them would never be the same again.

2024 trend predictions
Tumblr media
Follow my Pinterest board inspired by this upcoming year:
A. natural nail revolution
Ditch your nail extensions, and grab a nail filer because we’re doing shit from home!
The clean girl trend continues as it travels to our fingertips. Clean makeup, nails, and hair, too.
In economic lows; we are more inclined to become our own personal hairstylists, nail technicians, etc. To save money and time; trends will be short, simple and sweet.
Piggy-backing off the croquette/ doll aesthetic pinks, and off-whites will be a hit.
“Clean nails” will be a major focus.
Short square
Almond and rounded
French tips
Pinks, nudes, white, cream
Iridescent (see letter E.)
Gems and small rhinestones
Dare I say… crackle nails 🤯 🤯 (or caviar nails)
B. BLUE BLUE BLUE
Referring to Vouge Magazine’s 2024 predictions blue is the new black.
Blue eyeshadow is no longer hard to wear — it’s an everyday look.
Dark blues to powder blue, sparkle to matte.
Blue eyes
Blue eyeliner
Blue mascara
Blue jeans (white shirt???)
Blue eyeshadow has always held a special place in my heart, so, I will personally be rocking with the blues all year.
I recently discovered my love for colored mascara as well, and I also believe it will become very popular this year.
C.  Luxury athleisure
Think tennis courts, tennis shoes, and tennis skirts.
Did I mention tennis?
Athlesiure has taken over the last few months of 2023 from skims to Tik-tok shop no one could escape a nice seamless BBL zip up with a butter-soft cotton blend.
This year I see this style moving forward and becoming even bigger. But with a more stylish and sophisticated approach.
D. EFFY EYES
If Effy Stonem is coming back — then so am I!
I see grunge making a slow crawl back…even dare I say… tumblr ???
Smokey and smudgey eye looks will be back and better than ever. Quick and seductive looks to draw attention to the eyes.
(As stated in B.) deep blues, purples, and blacks.
E. Iridescent
I was wrong. Blue is not the new black — sparkle is.
Leaving behind the old-school chunky glitter and waiting patiently for the glitter glue to get tacky. This year we will be using liquid/powder iridescent duo-chrome shadows on the eyes, and face.
I see highlighter making a major comeback, and yes, in a 2014 way.
HEAVY highlighter; piggy-backing off the super popular e-girl style of intense inner-corner and button nose contour/ highlight.
This year will will be using more colorful highlights shades, blues and lilacs and focusing them heavily on the cheekbones.
We are currently living in the age of blush. Heavy blush.
(Which I love 💕)
Personally, I’ve abandoned all contouring/bronzing from my everyday routine and strictly use blush. As the months get warmer I will be incorporating more highlight on-top the blush.
F. Holistic revolution
Get in losers — we’re going… to take our vitamins.
I see major shifts from:
Health —> Wellness
The boom of bloom, and endless amounts of health drinks, workout clothes, and shadow work journals has let us all to not just become better in 2024: but feel better too. But, with a DIY twist.
I see a nice refresh of holistic approaches to our everyday issues.
Supplements  / vitamins
Wellness drinks
Wellness Retreats
Mental health prioritization
Hormones = Balanced
*Bonus:  Ditching alcohol this year? Me too!
Bars and cocktails are DEAD.
I have already see a rise of 0% drinks and a major mocktail rise.
G.  Fringe.
Unfortunately.
In 2013 we had costal cowgirl, this year it will be all-American cowgirl rodeo.
Cowboy hats, and boots have become a staple these past few years and I don’t see it slowing down. These western influences are everywhere; just more stylist.
H. Maximum Hair Accessorizing
Pins, headbands, and bows…oh my!
Referring to A and the naturalist movement, and as we move away from copper hair and bleached bottle blondes what will we do with our hair???
Accessorize.
Braids and bows are everywhere right now, and this trend will expanded on this year. We will be taking all the extra steps to dress up our heads.
Claw Clips
Bows
Funky clips
Gems and rhinestone
Editorial bobby pin styles
Thick headbands
NOT PICTURED:
Some other predictions~~
Arts and Crafts (scrapbooking, friendship bracelet, wreak this journal)
Tumblr / Landing
BIG purses (were ditching the baguette)
Gold jewelry
Fluffy and thick brows
