Either way no matter if you’re asleep or awake his hands won’t grow tired of drawing portraits of you. Within his sketchbook he used as an excuse to highlight gaming mechanics to his team. During the earliest stages of the infection that spreading through your quaint city. Which was thankfully isolated from the rest to prevent even more of an outbreak. You were on a date with your boyfriend who was such a advocate for being spontaneous. Seeing how those filthy hands tried to take you away from him. Had him going off on a tangent about how he’d kill them twice over, for even trying to touch a single hair on your head. Claiming how you were his and his only and that nothing on heaven nor earth would change it.

Despite being outnumbered he put up one hell of a fight knocking the parasites down one by one into eventually one of them took a chance to bit his fist that he used to sucker punch their teeth out.

Soma sighed, as if it was only a minor convenience that he’d gotten bitten. But nonetheless he kept letting his fist and legs fly not stopping until every single undead bastard was on the ground. Thanks to his self defense classes in karate.

It was only a matter of time before they got back up again so he turned around to give you a relaxed expression. A bright loving grin on his face as he asked you a simple question. While his veins became more prominent on his skin appearing in an abnormal pigment.

You could only sob saying yes frantically as you watched your loved one turn into a different being. At your answer he let out a flippant sigh of relief before continuing to lock himself inside the restaurant. Using the key that was hanging off the hip of an employee he stunned.

The gamer said in a soft tone that had a darkened edge to it, almost as if he wasn’t just trying to lighten up the mood with one of his lighthearted quips. But was issuing you an actual warning to beware of if you ever came across him while he wasn’t in control of himself.

Soma asked with a boyish grin pressing his face against the glass door with his lips puckered. As he waggled his eyebrows at you. It made you pissed off to say the least at how he was treating this a some kind of joke.

But you couldn’t help but notice his body twitching sporadically which was a telltale sign of how anxious he was. How scared he was of losing you. And how terrifying he’d be once he turned knowing that there’d be nothing to hold him back from showing his purest form of love for you.

Your boyfriend was already internally battling the urge to pull you against him. So you’d never leave his sight, that you two would be together forever regardless of death since nothing could ever change the way his heart beats purely for you. He couldn’t help but feel a cruel twist of satisfaction seeing your reluctance to leave his side and those pretty eyes of yours welling up with tears meant only for him.

A few days later, the infection took hold of him but not in a way he was expecting. Sure he may have lost some of his humanity, but for a strange reason. The pro gamer still retained some fragments of his consciousness. His head was pounding from your name, invading his headspace. With every pulse of his brain that was fried at the moment.

Soma chuffed with a crooked grin, as he suspected not even death would take away his inherent need for you. Nor could it ever make it cease to be. He had to find you, sure it was selfish but he can’t stop from obsessing over your very being ingrained in his hazy memory. Where only the images of you were clear as can be.

Breaking the lock with his newly found inhuman strength, he became a half mindless zombie. Who actively searches for his you like a moth to a flame. Tearing everything and anything apart that stands in his way.

This news has people saying they'd like to see more from AFC Richmond (obviously) including the creation of the women's team. This is kind of a nightmare idea for me, because one thing I, as a football nerd, need people to understand about the concept of an AFC Richmond Women's Team is that they absolutely definitely already should have had one during seasons 1-3 of the show? Which made the pitch from Keeley in the s3 finale montage land SUPER badly for me. Like, a nice idea, easily conveyed, but nope.

Because the "football canon" of the situation is that every established Premier League club now has an affiliated women's team. And like yeah, Richmond aren't very good. But most other clubs going down the ladder into the Championship, League One, etc, also have women's teams. Richmond, when the show started, had been in the Prem without relegation for a long time. They would not be the only Prem club without a womens team!!! They would have been constantly called out for it, it would have been a huge criticism and pressure point.

(Side note: same goes for a youth academy - clubs are required to have one. So you can imagine that off-screen, AFC Richmond is operating an academy, a Development/ Reserve men's team, and a women's team, it just has nothing to do with the squad Ted coaches and their training may well be housed elsewhere.)

The WSL (womens top tier in the UK) doesn't have as many teams in it as the Prem due to structure (12 vs the Prem's 20), so the levels the men's and women's teams play at can vary drastically within the same club. Not all Prem clubs have the womens team in the WSL. But any club you (or the TL writers) may have compared to Richmond, or based them on? They do have a women's team, whether they play at the top level or not.

So for me, the moment with Keeley works okay as a "don't question it" thing in the context of a harmless series finale montage, but it doesn't work as something to build new stories off, at least not in the simplistic way it was presented. Because any extension of the Ted Lasso Universe, or a Ted Lasso season 4, that would possibly incorporate the "starting of a women's team" would be the show going SO far outside the realm of football realism that it feel like a major contrast to how the show has approached the football element before - including like, what division or tier a newly launched team would even be allowed to start in, and all that. You're not meant to dig into the moment in the finale, just process it as a nice, fuzzy concept. But if there is more show to come, with a plot line that tackles the idea pitched in the finale, it could never match the level of football realism that was applied to the show before, because they've invented a totally fake situation that just doesn't work like that. They would be lowering their own bar. I know that many elements of TL, like Ted coaching, are already extremely fake, but their dedication to most of what counts is very good and very specific. Following through on what the finale implied about the women's team would be a drop in football realism from their existing standards and I am suuuuper not interested in that happening. It would be a quality drop for sure.

This is a bit of a rant and I am possibly the only fan who cared about this, but that Keeley and Rebecca scene was honestly one of the worst finale moments for me just because it implies something soooo wroooong.

HOWEVER, there's a pretty easy fix, and it would be cool if they went in this direction: the only reasonable explanation is that Rupert ran the women's team into the ground/never funded it, just met the bare minimum requirements, and they were currently playing below FA level, like in the 5th tier with only semi-pro players who don't get a professional wage - basically hobby players, and Keeley’s pitch was about reviving them and getting promoted up the tiers ASAP, Welcome to Wrexham style, with new funding, recruiting etc. Sucks that they got no attention from Rebecca before now but they may not have had money to spare for it during season 2 or before Rebecca sold shares in the club... dealing with that, and the fact that Rebecca had to knowingly leave them on the back burner and neglect them... that could be interesting. There's a story to be had about the women's team, don't get me wrong, but it isn't as simple an idea as the finale implied and that the fans have since run with.

In general, I don't consider much of anything with Nightmare on Elm Street worth a glance. I get the historical importance of the series in horror, but otherwise, I've never been into it.

But, out of pure curiosity, I took a peep-see at "Memory Overload" because I came across an LGBT+ (Gay) TikTok account that was gushing about this episode specifically bc of a 20-something Kyle Chandler.

Because Freddie's Nightmares operates similarly to Tales from the Crypt, "Memory Overload" is a twofer. The first part is about a drunk English lit professor named Professor Charles Whendam, who takes in a young man named Chuck who deserts from the military.

(The second part is about a woman committing credit card fraud, and a sentient computer's quest to catch her in the act.)

Chuck comes from a long line of military stans who've been in the US army since, like, (checks notes) "The Battle of Valley Forge". The jingoism, in other words, runs deep in the family. Chuck, however, likes writing poetry and isn't about joining the army. It's his passion, something his professor believes he should seriously pursue.

Chuck's father, on the other hand, thinks poetry is strictly for women. It's not masculine, see? Compounding the issue is the fact that Chuck's father is an apparent drunk, who likes to beat him, and calls him whiny if he tries to run, or begs his father not to (1) hit him, (2) drink.

In his nightmares, Chuck is lured into a sense of false security whenever his father arrives, then threatened with physical harm after. True to abusive child/parent dynamics, Chuck operates on the hope that he and his father will reach some understanding that saves the relationship. But it doesn't happen.

So you can see why he goes running to the professor. But nothing the professor says can reassure the kid that his father and the Military Police won't find him. He's so high-strung, that he starts accusing the professor of trying to sabotage him to build himself up. Not sure how that works, but... okay.

This being produced in the 80s (1984, I think?), thematically I figured this episode was going to be a hard-liner PSA about how you're life will be ruined if you ding-dong ditch the military. Or, how you should try really, really hard not to be Gay and also not ditch the military because of your same-sex attraction. I remember listening to a podcast recap of this episode, and they mentioned there might've been some preoccupation with closeted professors and closeted students in '80s media (for good or ill, who knows? I'm betting it was for ill though).

So, because of the TikTok video, I already had some ideas about the episode itself going into it. Really, the person was just talking about how "gorgeous" they thought Chandler was in this episode (and still is). I think that was the beginning and end of their video. Which, you know, is fair.

Nightmare on Elm Street dedicated an entire movie to Kruger tormenting a young gay high school student (Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Fredy's Revenge), so this wouldn't necessarily be outside of the franchise wheelhouse. On top of being a pedophile, Kruger is also homophobic. Being pro-military probably isn't out of the realm of reason either. It doesn't take a genius to see that people vulnerable to the military, abuse, and homophobia are his favorite people to target.

But in terms of the story, why? Where was this kid, an apparent resident of Springwood, when he stoked the serial killer's ire? Was it the mere fact that he embarrassed his father by ditching? Did Kruger catch wind of his perceived "weakness" ah-la creative writing?

And how is the professor connected to his father? Did they become mortal enemies because of a nature vs. nurture debate over Chuck? Were they friends before?

Who knows! I do know I was doing more work than whoever wrote and produced Freddy's Nightmares. The episode feels like a half-cooked concept. It had ideas about certain ideas but failed to execute or comment any of them successfully.

The professor goes from being a fall-down drunk to a clean and put-together dude while Chuck apparently takes to drinking, and becomes extremely forgetful about things. His teeth turn green, and he becomes aggressive and accusatory. The professor can't get Chuck to believe that he means to take him out of the country to Switzerland and away from his abusive father until the moving day comes. I half expected this kid to die by way of nightmare-induced suicide, or murder the professor out of misguided vengeance.

But, in the end, the episode basically reveals Chuck and Charles are the same person. He deserted the military because he wanted to pursue a writing career. Presumably, his father committed suicide because he couldn't live with the humiliation of Chuck's desertion, and Chuck coped by drinking himself under the table. He blamed himself for his father's death.

Kruger has almost nothing to do with the story itself beyond revealing to the audience that Charles is damned to repeat the same sequence of events with his younger self 1,000 (+) times or until he dies.

And it occurred to me that this was always probably the direction they were going to go in when I watched the TV Spot someone recorded. In said ad, Kyle Chandler was mirroring the mannerisms of his co-star, Andrew Pine. And, to be honest, I'm not against the direction. But the show's idea of throwing the audience for a loop was to simply not clarify anything in the story.

External to the story, the performances were middling, over-the-top to just outright bad. Chandler was still a newbie at this point, so everything about his performance was the epitome of "He's a little confused, but he's got spirit". The way this man screams had me in stitches because he still screams like that as a veteran actor. Then he does this frantic "I'm gonna get in trouble" / "please don't hurt me" hop when his character is confronted by his father and the military police. It fits for a character who is clearly terrified of his father, and regresses, I but couldn't take any of it seriously.
