Despite being outnumbered he put up one hell of a fight knocking the parasites down one by one into eventually one of them took a chance to bit his fist that he used to sucker punch their teeth out.

Soma sighed, as if it was only a minor convenience that he’d gotten bitten. But nonetheless he kept letting his fist and legs fly not stopping until every single undead bastard was on the ground. Thanks to his self defense classes in karate.

It was only a matter of time before they got back up again so he turned around to give you a relaxed expression. A bright loving grin on his face as he asked you a simple question. While his veins became more prominent on his skin appearing in an abnormal pigment.

You could only sob saying yes frantically as you watched your loved one turn into a different being. At your answer he let out a flippant sigh of relief before continuing to lock himself inside the restaurant. Using the key that was hanging off the hip of an employee he stunned.

The gamer said in a soft tone that had a darkened edge to it, almost as if he wasn’t just trying to lighten up the mood with one of his lighthearted quips. But was issuing you an actual warning to beware of if you ever came across him while he wasn’t in control of himself.

Soma asked with a boyish grin pressing his face against the glass door with his lips puckered. As he waggled his eyebrows at you. It made you pissed off to say the least at how he was treating this a some kind of joke.

But you couldn’t help but notice his body twitching sporadically which was a telltale sign of how anxious he was. How scared he was of losing you. And how terrifying he’d be once he turned knowing that there’d be nothing to hold him back from showing his purest form of love for you.

Your boyfriend was already internally battling the urge to pull you against him. So you’d never leave his sight, that you two would be together forever regardless of death since nothing could ever change the way his heart beats purely for you. So just one more kiss, no matter if There’s a thin glass barrier, he just wants to be close to you, to somewhat feel you before his body shuts down on him.

You scrambled to press yourself against the door your palm on top of his. You gave him one last longing gaze, beforehand pressing your lips against the glass. You were hesitant to leave him wanting to stay until his final hours but he childishly shooed you away. Claiming that he doesn’t want you to see him become an uggo version of himself. Since glowing down in front of his beau would be immensely embarrassing. He couldn’t help but feel a cruel twist of satisfaction seeing your reluctance to leave his side and those pretty eyes of yours welling up with tears meant only for him.

A few days later, the infection took hold of him but not in a way he was expecting. Sure he may have lost some of his humanity, but for a strange reason. The pro gamer still retained some fragments of his consciousness. His head was pounding from your name, invading his headspace. With every pulse of his brain that was fried at the moment.

Soma chuffed with a crooked grin, as he suspected not even death would take away his inherent need for you. Nor could it ever make it cease to be. He had to find you, sure it was selfish but he can’t stop from obsessing over your very being ingrained in his hazy memory. Where only the images of you were clear as can be.

Breaking the lock with his newly found inhuman strength, he became a half mindless zombie. Who actively searches for his you like a moth to a flame. Tearing everything and anything apart that stands in his way.

This news has people saying they'd like to see more from AFC Richmond (obviously) including the creation of the women's team. This is kind of a nightmare idea for me, because one thing I, as a football nerd, need people to understand about the concept of an AFC Richmond Women's Team is that they absolutely definitely already should have had one during seasons 1-3 of the show? Which made the pitch from Keeley in the s3 finale montage land SUPER badly for me. Like, a nice idea, easily conveyed, but nope.

Because the "football canon" of the situation is that every established Premier League club now has an affiliated women's team. And like yeah, Richmond aren't very good. But most other clubs going down the ladder into the Championship, League One, etc, also have women's teams. Richmond, when the show started, had been in the Prem without relegation for a long time. They would not be the only Prem club without a womens team!!! They would have been constantly called out for it, it would have been a huge criticism and pressure point.

(Side note: same goes for a youth academy - clubs are required to have one. So you can imagine that off-screen, AFC Richmond is operating an academy, a Development/ Reserve men's team, and a women's team, it just has nothing to do with the squad Ted coaches and their training may well be housed elsewhere.)

The WSL (womens top tier in the UK) doesn't have as many teams in it as the Prem due to structure (12 vs the Prem's 20), so the levels the men's and women's teams play at can vary drastically within the same club. Not all Prem clubs have the womens team in the WSL. But any club you (or the TL writers) may have compared to Richmond, or based them on? They do have a women's team, whether they play at the top level or not.

So for me, the moment with Keeley works okay as a "don't question it" thing in the context of a harmless series finale montage, but it doesn't work as something to build new stories off, at least not in the simplistic way it was presented. Because any extension of the Ted Lasso Universe, or a Ted Lasso season 4, that would possibly incorporate the "starting of a women's team" would be the show going SO far outside the realm of football realism that it feel like a major contrast to how the show has approached the football element before - including like, what division or tier a newly launched team would even be allowed to start in, and all that. You're not meant to dig into the moment in the finale, just process it as a nice, fuzzy concept. But if there is more show to come, with a plot line that tackles the idea pitched in the finale, it could never match the level of football realism that was applied to the show before, because they've invented a totally fake situation that just doesn't work like that. They would be lowering their own bar. I know that many elements of TL, like Ted coaching, are already extremely fake, but their dedication to most of what counts is very good and very specific. Following through on what the finale implied about the women's team would be a drop in football realism from their existing standards and I am suuuuper not interested in that happening. It would be a quality drop for sure.

This is a bit of a rant and I am possibly the only fan who cared about this, but that Keeley and Rebecca scene was honestly one of the worst finale moments for me just because it implies something soooo wroooong.

HOWEVER, there's a pretty easy fix, and it would be cool if they went in this direction: the only reasonable explanation is that Rupert ran the women's team into the ground/never funded it, just met the bare minimum requirements, and they were currently playing below FA level, like in the 5th tier with only semi-pro players who don't get a professional wage - basically hobby players, and Keeley’s pitch was about reviving them and getting promoted up the tiers ASAP, Welcome to Wrexham style, with new funding, recruiting etc. Sucks that they got no attention from Rebecca before now but they may not have had money to spare for it during season 2 or before Rebecca sold shares in the club... dealing with that, and the fact that Rebecca had to knowingly leave them on the back burner and neglect them... that could be interesting. There's a story to be had about the women's team, don't get me wrong, but it isn't as simple an idea as the finale implied and that the fans have since run with.

In general, I don't consider much of anything with Nightmare on Elm Street worth a glance. I get the historical importance of the series in horror, but otherwise, I've never been into it.

But, out of pure curiosity, I took a peep-see at "Memory Overload" because I came across an LGBT+ (Gay) TikTok account that was gushing about this episode specifically bc of a 20-something Kyle Chandler.

Because Freddie's Nightmares operates similarly to Tales from the Crypt, "Memory Overload" is a twofer. The first part is about a drunk English lit professor named Professor Charles Whendam, who takes in a young man named Chuck who deserts from the military.

(The second part is about a woman committing credit card fraud, and a sentient computer's quest to catch her in the act.)

Chuck comes from a long line of military stans who've been in the US army since, like, (checks notes) "The Battle of Valley Forge". The jingoism, in other words, runs deep in the family. Chuck, however, likes writing poetry and isn't about joining the army. It's his passion, something his professor believes he should seriously pursue.

Chuck's father, on the other hand, thinks poetry is strictly for women. It's not masculine, see? Compounding the issue is the fact that Chuck's father is an apparent drunk, who likes to beat him, and calls him whiny if he tries to run, or begs his father not to (1) hit him, (2) drink.

In his nightmares, Chuck is lured into a sense of false security whenever his father arrives, then threatened with physical harm after. True to abusive child/parent dynamics, Chuck operates on the hope that he and his father will reach some understanding that saves the relationship. But it doesn't happen.

So you can see why he goes running to the professor. But nothing the professor says can reassure the kid that his father and the Military Police won't find him. He's so high-strung, that he starts accusing the professor of trying to sabotage him to build himself up. Not sure how that works, but... okay.

This being produced in the 80s (1984, I think?), thematically I figured this episode was going to be a hard-liner PSA about how you're life will be ruined if you ding-dong ditch the military. Or, how you should try really, really hard not to be Gay and also not ditch the military because of your same-sex attraction. I remember listening to a podcast recap of this episode, and they mentioned there might've been some preoccupation with closeted professors and closeted students in '80s media (for good or ill, who knows? I'm betting it was for ill though).

So, because of the TikTok video, I already had some ideas about the episode itself going into it. Really, the person was just talking about how "gorgeous" they thought Chandler was in this episode (and still is). I think that was the beginning and end of their video. Which, you know, is fair.

Nightmare on Elm Street dedicated an entire movie to Kruger tormenting a young gay high school student (Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Fredy's Revenge), so this wouldn't necessarily be outside of the franchise wheelhouse. On top of being a pedophile, Kruger is also homophobic. Being pro-military probably isn't out of the realm of reason either. It doesn't take a genius to see that people vulnerable to the military, abuse, and homophobia are his favorite people to target.

But in terms of the story, why? Where was this kid, an apparent resident of Springwood, when he stoked the serial killer's ire? Was it the mere fact that he embarrassed his father by ditching? Did Kruger catch wind of his perceived "weakness" ah-la creative writing?

And how is the professor connected to his father? Did they become mortal enemies because of a nature vs. nurture debate over Chuck? Were they friends before?

Who knows! I do know I was doing more work than whoever wrote and produced Freddy's Nightmares. The episode feels like a half-cooked concept. It had ideas about certain ideas but failed to execute or comment any of them successfully.

The professor goes from being a fall-down drunk to a clean and put-together dude while Chuck apparently takes to drinking, and becomes extremely forgetful about things. His teeth turn green, and he becomes aggressive and accusatory. The professor can't get Chuck to believe that he means to take him out of the country to Switzerland and away from his abusive father until the moving day comes. I half expected this kid to die by way of nightmare-induced suicide, or murder the professor out of misguided vengeance.

But, in the end, the episode basically reveals Chuck and Charles are the same person. He deserted the military because he wanted to pursue a writing career. Presumably, his father committed suicide because he couldn't live with the humiliation of Chuck's desertion, and Chuck coped by drinking himself under the table. He blamed himself for his father's death.

Kruger has almost nothing to do with the story itself beyond revealing to the audience that Charles is damned to repeat the same sequence of events with his younger self 1,000 (+) times or until he dies.

And it occurred to me that this was always probably the direction they were going to go in when I watched the TV Spot someone recorded. In said ad, Kyle Chandler was mirroring the mannerisms of his co-star, Andrew Pine. And, to be honest, I'm not against the direction. But the show's idea of throwing the audience for a loop was to simply not clarify anything in the story.

External to the story, the performances were middling, over-the-top to just outright bad. Chandler was still a newbie at this point, so everything about his performance was the epitome of "He's a little confused, but he's got spirit". The way this man screams had me in stitches because he still screams like that as a veteran actor. Then he does this frantic "I'm gonna get in trouble" / "please don't hurt me" hop when his character is confronted by his father and the military police. It fits for a character who is clearly terrified of his father, and regresses, I but couldn't take any of it seriously.

Dream Team and Dungeons & Dragons

As a dnd player and a fan of the dteam, I thought it would be fun to assign a class and subclass for Dream, George, and Sapnap. This was a lot of fun and gave me ideas for characters I could make for other campaigns, as well as other mcyts I could assign, too.

Dream

Class: Paladin

Subclass: Oath of Glory

"Paladins who take the Oath of Glory believe they and their companions are destined to achieve glory through deeds of heroism. They train diligently and encourage their companions so they're all ready when destiny calls."

From the get-go, I knew Dream had to be a paladin. Paladins are a mix of a fighter, magic-user, and healer wrapped into a shiny, proud knight that's focused in helping their allies just as much as they are in being a powerful adversary. A paladin's proficient saving throws are charisma and wisdom, both very prominent in Dream's character; Dream has the uncanny ability to win over almost anyone, even antis once they meet him irl! And for wisdom, while he is business-smart, I feel like the rants and one-off things he say show more learned wisdom than baseline intelligence. Additionally, the two skills he would be proficient in plays off of that: persuasion and intimidation—he's a very large man, both physically and in terms of fame/success. Even though he's a sweetheart and a personified golden retriever, he isn't afraid to speak up. He's the one the reaches out to those at odds with him, not to mention that he spoke to the twitchcon staff after the horrid dsmp panel (and according to Philza, didn't hold back his true feelings).

The class has an ability to use their divinity through their oath to fuel and provide extra power to their hits and their spells. They also can choose a specific fighting style—Dream's would be "protection", because like the name implies, he can provide protection to an ally being attacked (and the paladin must be wielding a shield, and our little manhunt pro is an expert at using a shield). Time and time again, Dream has been a metaphorical shield for his friends under fire online, so it's quite fitting. Paladins also have many bonuses to help allies that aren't specific to their sacred oath: Lay on Hands, Aura of Protection, Aura of Courage, and Cleansing Touch. His sacred oath has one, too, called Aura of Alacrity. Mister "I'm gonna blow up, come with me" is definitely someone who would have a class so focused on aiding his allies.

For his subclass, Oath of Glory was obvious. There are four tenets:

Actions over Words: Strive to be known by glorious deeds, not words.

Challenges Are but Tests: Face hardships with courage, and encourage your allies to face them with you.

Hone the Body: Like raw stone, your body must be worked so its potential can be realized.

Discipline the Soul: You must marshal the discipline to overcome failings within yourself that threaten to dim the glory of you and your friends.

I mean, come on, isn't that perfect? I don't think I need to explain much there—Dream's past three years on the internet is enough of an explanation. Same with Glorious Defense, a feature that allows him to turn his defense into an opportunity to strike. While he hasn't struck back outright to those attacking him, he capitalizes on opportunities to make something out of it. The most important feature, though, is the one at level 20: Living Legend. This allows him to "empower [himself] with the legends—whether true or exaggerated—of [his] great deeds". Dream is YouTube's golden boy, a creator that exploded into popularity in the span of just three years. Be it positive or negative, the greater population of the internet has at the very least heard of him. A living legend indeed.

George

Class: Druid

Subclass: Circle of Dreams

"Druids who are members of the Circle of Dreams hail from regions that have strong ties to the Feywild and its dreamlike realms. The druids’ guardianship of the natural world makes for a natural alliance between them and good-aligned fey. These druids seek to fill the world with dreamy wonder. Their magic mends wounds and brings joy to downcast hearts, and the realms they protect are gleaming, fruitful places, where dream and reality blur together and where the weary can find rest."

George was a bit more difficult because I wanted a class that relied on intelligence or charisma and could also cast spells, but he didn’t seem like a bard or warlock to me. Ranger with a subclass of Fey Wanderer was a good contender since the subclass has the feature of Otherworldly Glamour and one of the “feywild gifts” gives the character horns or antlers (a personal favorite of mine for GeorgeeeHD fanart). Usually, rangers use a bow and arrow, which is the weapon that George is often drawn with. However, that’s where I found the similarities fell short—even with the similarities, they were mostly based on fanart and not who George is as a person, so I had to change course. My next option was a sorcerer with the subclass Lunar Sorcery. Dream has said George is “the light in the room”, so why not choose a subclass that gives the ability to literally shed light? (Lunar Empowerment). But once again, that’s the only thing I found similar or comparable. That led me to my third and final choice: a druid with a subclass of Circle of Dreams.

Druids have proficiency in intelligence and wisdom saving throws. George’s wisdom is debatable (this is a joke), but his intelligence is undeniable; he’s spoken several times before about the type of classwork he’s done, and how he graduated university with top marks and honors in computer science. For his two proficient skills, it would be arcana and insight. Arcana simply because I wanted his intelligence in math and coding to translate into something dnd related. As for insight, it could also be traded for perception. George is sassy when he wants to be, and thanks to multiple examples (and Punz saying “if Dream doesn’t like you, George definitely doesn’t), he harnesses the phrase “a bitch never forgets”. If he were petty enough and this was a spinoff of Mean Girls, he’d have a burn book.

Skipping over the other basic druid abilities (we all know he’d mostly wild shape into a cat, maybe that t-rex from his merch, too), and going onto druid circle (subclass). I’ll admit, Circle of Dreams jumped out at me because of the name, but when reading through their abilities, it was the clear choice. Remember how I wanted to include George being “the light in the room”? The description for this subclass says “Their magic…brings joy to downcast hearts, and the realms they protect are gleaming…”. Even the first ability, Balm of the Summer Court, gives the druid the ability to become “a font of energy that offers respite from injuries”. It’s perfect! The second ability, Hearth of Moonlight and Shadow, reminds me of something I’m not sure if George said outright or if he implied it: wherever Dream and Sapnap go, that will be where his home is—a house doesn’t make a home, people do. The ability I just mentioned has the description “home can be wherever you are”. Once again, perfect.

I will admit that the two other abilities Hidden Paths and Walker in Dreams are a bit more difficult to connect, but they still seem fitting to George. Overall, this was the best option just for how accurate some of the abilities are. George is sly and witty, but he’s also bubbly and sweet. A magic-user with a focus on intelligence and being a comforting presence to his allies is exactly who George would be.

Sapnap

Class: Fighter

Subclass: Banneret

"A banneret is a knight who inspires greatness in others by committing brave deeds in battle. The mere presence of one in a hamlet is enough to cause some orcs and bandits to seek easier prey. A lone banneret is a skilled warrior, but a banneret leading a band of allies can transform even the most poorly equipped militia into a ferocious war band. A banneret prefers to lead through deeds, not words. As a banneret spearheads an attack, their actions can awaken reserves of courage and conviction in allies that they never suspected they had."

Last but certainly not least, is Sapnap. His choice was obvious: if there’s one class that the biggest shooter for Dream and overly-passionate (competitive) Valorant player would be, it’s a fighter. A fighter’s proficient saving throws are strength and constitution. It’s without a doubt that Sapnap’s tough—his bark may be worse than his bite, but the few times that Dream-defender leash he’s kept on loosened, he bit back hard. That ties into one of his two proficient skills, intimidation. I have no doubt that in a battle or regular encounter in dnd, he’d use his intimidation to his advantage. For his other skill, I chose athletics. I think that fits the best for him out of the other options. Just like a paladin, fighters are able to choose a fighting style. Unarmed Fighting was the best option, because I feel that losing his weapon wouldn’t keep Sapnap from still fighting. Continuing off of that, I also feel that Sapnap would be the type of person that doesn’t back down until he literally can’t go anymore. The Action Surge, Extra Attack, and Indomitable feats are indicative of this. I remember in the final manhunt review, Dream said “…and they unleash Sapnap like a bull”. Sapnap is, in my opinion, evenly matched in pvp with Dream, and in manhunts when it didn’t necessarily matter if he lost, wouldn’t hesitate to throw himself into the fight completely. He wasn’t afraid of Dream’s skill.

For his subclass, I bounced between Champion and Banneret, but ultimately settled on the latter due to the subclass’s ally-friendly abilities. The description for this subclass includes phrases that speak of their talent for providing courage, conviction, and gumption to even the weakest of their allies. Both the abilities Rallying Cry and Inspiring Surge show those admirable traits. In MCC, Sapnap is a great leader. He’s upbeat and loud, and his competitive and ambitious spirit often gets his teammates excited as well. Alternatively, he knows when to back off, and his respectful teammates follow his orders, most prominently (in my opinion) shown in MCC 15: During survival games, Sapnap was (and still is) the only one Dream would listen to whenever he was told to back off and regroup. That’s not to say that Dream doesn’t listen to other teammates that tell him that, but when it was Sapnap, he either listened on the first call to retreat, or stopped after Sapnap (who didn’t cower from talking back) kept telling him. Once again, the sign of a great leader.

I’ll admit, I don’t think Royal Envoy fits Sapnap. Tina has called him “a polite cowboy”, but he’s self-admittedly shy. His hot-headed nature combined with his politeness is admirable, but I don’t think it would result in being skilled in persuasion. But, since I’m the one calling the shots here, I say that he has a different skill proficiency and instead is proficient in insight (due to the previously mentioned skills in leadership). Bulwark, however, definitely fits. To be able to share his implacable nature with an ally to continue the fight is very true to him. Sapnap has a chutzpah that’s often unmatched, and he’s incredibly loyal to his friends, so a banneret it is.
