i started this awhile back and have been sitting on it for months, scared to post these because of fandom discourse. but, with the help of a few friends and the new season starting the night of me posting this (sept 26th), i decided to just do it.

to preface, these are AU's so every backstory and origin story is not 100% connected to it's canon counter part, marvel or 911. i'm also not the first person to draw these connections, i see them all the time. these are just my takes! and if these inspired you at all, please tag me because i would love to see what you come up with!

Fyodor: Well it’s….What did you just call me?

Atsushi: Your name.

Fyodor: That is most certainly not my name and you know it. I am Fyodor Dostoyevsky and you will refer to me as such.

Atsushi: Sure thing Fjord (fyord) Oyevsky.

Fyodor: Is this anyway to treat your saviour?

Atsushi: deadpan Dazai saved me and I call him an unfinished mummy. Your point?

Fyodor: Funny you should mention Dazai because I killed him.

Atsushi: Ha, no you didn’t.

Fyodor: Excuse me?

Atsushi: Oh right you’re Russian aren’t you?

Atsushi repeats his sentence but in Russian.

Fyodor: How do you know…never mind. You have such faith in your colleague, and yet the rest are gone so why not him?

Atsushi becomes serious.

Atsushi: Because they were killed by something the mind can’t comprehend. With a blade that bends space and time to its will. Wielded by someone who was already a god of war back when he had human skin. That kind of power is immeasurable.

He shakes his head amused.

Atsushi: But you? Someone who puts himself ontop to hide how small he truly is. Your paper crown might’ve fooled you into thinking you’re something, but your not. Someone like you couldn’t even dream of killing Dazai.

Fyodor: Why you…You’ll pay for that.

Atsushi laughs, cold and bitter.

Atsushi: What are you going to do, kill me? We both know you want me alive. Torture me? There’s nothing you can do to me that I haven’t felt 100 times worse. And besides, nothing will hurt more than this.

Fyodor: You seem so certain. As if you’re the one in control here.

Atsushi: Let me tell you something, Feather duster-

Fyodor: That wasn’t even close!

Atsushi: I’m terrified. Terrified of losing my friends, of being alone more than I already am. I’m terrified of letting them down. But you know what I’m not scared of, you.

Fyodor: You will be.

Atsushi: No I won’t. Because all I feel for you is hate. I hate you. I hate you more than I’ve hated anyone else. I hate you so much it actually scares me. And once I figure it out, I’m going to make what you’ve done to me feel like a nice little dream.

Fyodor: And what makes you think you can do that?

Atsushi: Because you lied about Dazai. Meaning you lost to him and that little show earlier, wasn’t planned. Your plan was over before it began. Losing control, being outsmarted yet again. Admit it, you’re just as scared as I am.

Fyodor: You know nothing.

Atsushi: Maybe. But what I do know is that you will never get that book. And once you realise that it’ll drive you mad. Because that’s the thing about men like you, you lose one game and you fall apart.

Fyodor: We shall see, but for the record there are no men like me.

Atsushi: There are always men like you. And in every story I’ve read they always lose.

Fyodor: Suppose you’re right. What if I take you down with me?

Atsushi: Than I’d say you don’t know me at all if you think that scares me.

Idk how to articulate this but in regards to a lot of defense of certain elements of C3 being that they “make sense” in universe, (Ashton becoming indecisive, the party not knowing each other well because of the little passage of time, the party not having stakes in much of things,) it’s always very misguided because something can make sense in universe and still be a really bad writing decision. Especially if you’re trying to respond to an out of universe criticism with in universe logic.

Correct. I think there are two big problems with these arguments. The first, is as you said, the fact that these Doylist critiques (story poorly structure, party lacks investment) are being met with Watsonian defenses (makes sense for the party). We're saying "the party should have been given a reason for investment in the beginning."

The second is, and I've been reluctant to point this out because the bulk of hate I've gotten has been (largely false and frankly idiotic) claims of hypocrisy. But man is a lot of this hypocritical, the defense of Ashton specifically. Like, yes, Ashton is someone who's had a difficult life and frequently had very little power, so the fact that they do have power now isn't something they are used to. However, and this really is the even larger problem, just because a sentient being has a reason for feeling a certain way does not in fact mean that acting on it is excused from criticism. Ashton also learned he contained the shard of a titan only a few weeks ago; why aren't we granting the same "well, it's new, let them process" it to the party's fixation on avenging the titans? Why are we getting this from people who frequently treated Orym as "irrational" and bent on nothing but vengeance for deaths he'd carried for six years and had thought about extensively? Hey, Ludinus is acting from trauma! So is Liliana, according to a lot of these people. If acting from trauma is always valid, then criticism of any of these people is cut off. So clearly, what you do with that trauma matters!

You can feel any way about anything, but how you act matters, and time and time again, a huge number of Bells Hells and Campaign 3 fans have argued that actually it doesn't, and if you've ever had your choices curtailed your lack of agency means you are entitled to do whatever the fuck you want. It extends to themselves as well - doesn't matter if (for example) there's absolutely no indication that Gelvaan's issue with Imogen was homophobia or misogyny and in 118 episodes there hasn't been - if you feel like Imogen's experience is relatable to your real-world one where those were factors then obviously your feelings are right so who cares about like, the facts of the situation! You're new to the campaign! You can't be EXPECTED to LOOK THINGS UP and THINK.

You know what I realized, upon answering this question: I don't know if Ludinus realized that the impact of reaching out to Predathos would be the ruin of Molaesmyr; I don't think he was terribly worried about consequences but I do think it's fair to say "he might have not realized how badly this could go, and was surprised as any by the result". Just someone following a path because they were hurt and traumatized and not thinking things through. We keep talking about how Bells Hells might be remembered as Vespin Chloras, and they might be remembered as such, but Vespin was an arrogant but genuinely competent and even, arguably, well-intentioned person with a clear plan that was ultimately a gross underestimate. I think they're more likely to be just fuck-ups in the dark who could cause mass destruction because they cared far, far more about the hurt they'd received than the world around them.

A/N: for anyone reading some changes were made through DM’s which is why it’s not like the request above

The 118 were your favourite part of working, you loved them like family, albeit an annoying family you loved them non the less.

But you didn’t love anybody more than Bobby, so when you heard he was in danger, you didn’t hesitate to go straight to the location.

Your heart was racing and you were panicking.

Bobby was like your father, you loved the man to death. He’s taught you so much, he’s always supported you, he’s all ways been there for you and never left your side.

You needed him by your side, and you were ready to let anything happen to him, even if it meant doing whatever it took to ensure his safety.

So when you arrived at the building he was supposedly in, you ran inside, shouting out his name desperately.

“Bobby?!”

You run through the building, checking each and every room as you go through, throwing open doors and shoving things out of your way.

You weren’t even on shift, you just happened to have heard the news on the police scanner as you were passing a few officers doing a routine traffic stop.

“Bobby?!” You shout again.

You pause for a moment, listening for any response, any sign he was there or he was okay.

When you didn’t get anything back you began to run again, making your way through the building while shouting his name.

As you turned down a hallway you heard a noise behind you and spun around, running in that direction.

“Bobby where are you?!”

You heard the noise again, a little to your right, so you barged through the door to find Bobby tied to a chair with duct tape on his mouth.

His eyes widened when he saw you, and he immediately started to shake his head and try shout at you.

Running over, you gently grab his jaw to hold his face still as you take the tape off.

“Sorry…”

Letting the tape fall to the ground, you grab his face between your hands and study it, checking him over for any injuries.

“You need to go!” He rushed out.

“Not without you!”

“(Y/N) go! The place is going to go up in flames! Get out of here!”

“Not without you Bobby! We still need you!”

Getting behind the chair, you work on trying to untie him as fast as you can.

It wasn’t often Bobby got panicked, so when he was panicked you knew there was a good reason behind it.

Your fingers shook and fumbled as you tried to untie him, a string of curses leaving your mouth that would definitely get you in trouble with Bobby later on.

That’s when you heard it, a small spark.

The sound of something catching fire and flames roaring all around, and while Bobby shouted your name in desperation you shouted his back.

You didn’t think about what you were doing, you just acted.

Getting up, you stood in front of him, bringing your hands out in front of you to practice the same routine you were so familiar with.

You move automatically, not having a second to process what you were doing while Bobby was sat there staring at you in pure shock, speechless.

You manipulated the air around you both, creating a vortex, almost like a safety bubbly to keep the pair of you safe from the raging flames.

The flames rose with the air, but never entered the vortex.

You work desperately to keep this up as the flames grew in size and strength, and when you had built up enough momentum you threw your hands to both sides of you.

Air surged all around the room, forcing the flames out and away, most of them immediately being extinguished.

Slowly you lowered your hands and turned to Bobby, kneeling behind him again as you finally managed to untie him with shaking hands.

He was still processing what he just saw you do as you led him out of the building, taking him a safe distance away to sit him down as sirens could be heard in the distance approaching.

“What…?” He whispered.

Bobby looked to the building then back at you, not entirely sure what he saw was real.

He could see the look on your face.

Uncertainty, sadness, and a hint of fear, and that seemed to snap him out of his shock.

“(Y/N)…”

He reached out, gently tugging you to sit in front of him, and he began to look you over to make sure that you weren’t hurt in any way, his parental instinct taking over.

He checked your face, then your clothes to make sure you didn’t catch any sparks, then he finally looked at you again.

“How did…? What…?”

He couldn’t complete a full sentence, he just kept trialing off but you knew exactly what he was trying to ask.

You just didn’t know what to tell him, and thankfully you didn’t have to answer his questions yes as the rest of the 118 arrived with Athena.

Standing up, you pat his head a few times before slowly backing away to let the others get to him, and while they fussed over him you quietly let the scene.

You knew you were going to have to tell him exactly what happened, exactly what you were one day, but right now you could buy yourself some more time by leaving.

Though Athena watched you go, a small frown on her face.

She was going to chase after you later, once she found out who was responsible for this

Something something about Eddie’s injury being an ankle and the play on the idea of Buck being his Achillies heel.

Something something about Achilles and Patroclus being Buck and Eddie (A&P’s relationship is essentially a queer one if you read the Iliad)

The we have Chiron, who I feel rather perfectly fits Tommy. Centaurs were considered lusty and wild (a metaphor for toxic masculinity) so Chiron rose above that to become a wise and intelligent centaur who was charged with the education of Achilles. Much like Tommy rising above the toxic masculinity of the 118 before Chim hen and Bobby arrived, to become this confident and comfortable elder queer.

Achilles is the one who taught Patroclus what Chiron had taught him. So something something about Tommy being Bucks education around his queer identity and then later perhaps we’ll see Buck passing on that wisdom to Eddie as he goes through his own journey to being an out and proud queer.

Essentially Achilles and Patroclus were childhood friends (buck and Eddie up to this point), Achilles was taught by Chiron and became a great warrior at his hand (Tommy teaching Buck and helping him on his queer journey). Achilles taught Patroclus what. Huron had taught him and Patroclus also became a great warrior. They fought alongside each other (metaphor for being work husbands) and were said to be lovers when they were adults (ergo after Chiron). They died on the battlefield shortly after one another (Achilles was killed by Paris in the Trojan war after Patroclus was killed by hector (who Achilles killed to avenge P’s death))

@sunsetandevningstar wanted to see some of the Maddie Fix-It from my WIP list. She confronts Tommy at a farmer's market after eavesdropping on a conversation he has with a vendor he knows. I channeled a lot of protective sibling rage into this, but also Maddie is ultimately a sweetheart so it doesn't last.

“You broke his heart!” She’d really intended to keep calm, but she also wants to throw Tommy in front of a moving semi. “You idiot, you fucking idiot, how dare you run away from him? He’s had enough of that his entire life, you weren’t supposed to do it, too.”

Tommy looks shell-shocked, which is fair. He probably hasn’t had a lot of crying, upset, angry women confront him in the middle of a farmer’s market on a Sunday. Maybe if he had, he wouldn’t have done something so stupid.

“I didn’t mean to—” he starts, and she cuts him off with a shake of her head and a finger in his face.

“No! That’s not how this works,” she says, trying to swallow around the burning rage in her throat. “No one means to do it to him, but they do it anyway, and then he moves on and thinks that maybe, maybe this is going to be the time it doesn’t happen. Because he’s a good person, and he thinks other people are good, even when we’re not.”

She wipes her eyes, because she can’t see Tommy’s face anymore. When her vision’s clear, he looks shattered, which gives her a kind of vicious satisfaction.

“I’m a runner,” she says, watching the way his gaze drops to the concrete between them. “I ran from home, I ran from him, I ran from my ex, from Chimney, from our daughter—and only one of those times was a good idea. And I thought maybe that means it’s the right choice every time, and it’s not. I don’t know when it worked out for you, and I’m glad it did, but that’s not now. That’s not him.”

Tommy’s jaw is clenched and trembling, and she’s short enough that she can see tears roll down his cheeks even with his head down. The part of her that wants to avenge her brother’s heartbreak seems to have been appeased, because she just feels sad for him. They’re about the same age, but he looks so young and sad and lost.

“He doesn’t always do things in the right order or say the things he really means, because he gets excited,” she says, stepping closer and putting her hands on his ridiculous biceps. “But I thought you understood that.”

“I do,” Tommy says, his voice raw and choked.

“I know,” she says, feeling her eyes burn with more tears. “I was scared, you know? My baby brother was throwing himself into another relationship, and I got worried. But I saw you two together, and I stopped being scared. I let my guard down with you and let you into my life and my daughter’s life and trusted you with my brother’s heart, because you seemed to understand him better than anyone else I’ve ever seen him with. Whatever you’re thinking about yourself is coming from a monster that’s been feeding you lies. What I saw, what I heard, was something real.”

When he finally looks at her, she stands on her toes and pulls him into a hug. She’s gotten really good at making up the difference of a foot in a hug and taking care of her giant of a brother, but Tommy collapses into her and she puts a foot back to keep herself from toppling. She wonders if anyone has hugged him at all since the break-up, if he’s been isolating himself from everyone the same way he’s isolated himself from the 118. She knows it’s exactly the kind of thing she’d do.

“C’mon,” she says, rubbing between his shoulder blades. “I know our five minutes aren’t up, but you need to sit down.”

i'm so confused... can you start over?

evan buckley, a kid that wanted nothing more than the attention and love of his parents. evan 'buck' buckley, a man that wanted to make something of himself by saving people and proving his worth to the colleges around him. spiderman, a hero that was loved and adored because of his heroic deeds and his friendly demeanor. after leaving his home of hersey, pennsylvania, buck travel all over the country and even to central america before finding himself in LA -- training to be a firefighter of all things. barely two years into the job, they get a call to a laboratory fire and buck is leading the hose. it was a fairly routine fire: get in, put out the flames, leave and go to the next call. but what they didn't know was that the empty glass cases didn't hold other chemicals... they held experimental, chemically enhanced spiders -- and one just happened to attach itself to buck's turnout gear. as expected, after getting to the station and ruffling up his things, disturbing the small creature, it bit him. at the time, no one thought anything of it, it wasn't venomous. so there was nothing to worry about. until buck began feeling feverish. he was covered in sweat by the next morning, and his skin was clammy. he felt nauseous but he was starving. everything felt distorted and underwater. but instead of going to the hospital, he just called into work and tried to sleep it off -- only calling his sister to help him. by the next day he was back to his old self, and a few days later he felt better than he had in years. as the weeks progressed, he started noticing things. nothing felt quite as hot to him anymore, he reacted faster when things occurred around him. he was lifting more than twice he could before like it was nothing. he didn't know what was different but he liked it. and he wasn't the only one that noticed.

Random thoughts on 9-1-1 and Avengers crossover

...which I will never write, probably, and no one will probably care anyway, so why not... (But I mean, the NAMES CONFUSION ALONE WOULD BE GOLDEN). Anyway... thoughts.

118 crew does not like the Avengers, because they have stolen their glory and headbutted their calls before

they unfortunately meet again during a big fire, specifically Steve, Bucky, Sam and maybe a few (mostly human) others

Buck especially is not having it, and not being afraid to go all: look hotshot, you might be a Captain but you ain't our captain

Steve being all "I understand. I'm not your captain and I'm not tryng to be, but we're here to help and as far as I know, your captain is somewhere in that building and has lost his comms. We don't have your experience and expertise, but some of us are a little bit more indestructible than you, so tell us what to do" and the 118 accepting it at last

Steve, at some point, saying "Buck you coming with me?", earning a slightly offended glare from Buck because he can respect him but they aren't pals, and a confused look from Bucky, because always, punk

Buck, still offended, picking up gear and asking how the heck did the name James Barnes turn into "Buck" or "Bucky", Sam gleefully telling him the middle name's Buchannan

Sam helping Chimney and Hen with medical stuff, potentially with Eddie

Hen and Sam returning from tending to a victim towards what seems to be the 'end' of search and rescue, surprised Chimney is the only one left by the engine, throwing his hands in the air, questioned by Hen and Sam as what the hell happened

"Well, our Cap was still unresponsive, so your Cap went all Buck on us and ran into the nearly collapsing building, Buck naturally followed right after him, Bucky and Eddie just exchanged one look of sympathy at choosing idiots for friends and ran after them too and I'm clearly here so people have a messenger to shoot... anyway. You coming with us, Wilson... and Wilson?" and Sam and Hen just stare for severeal seconds, trying to decipher what the hell happened again

For some reason, this whole thing is hilarious in my head, now I shall return to the realm of things I'm actually able to write-- now if you read till now I applaud you and thank you and please continue your day/night as intended 🤭
