On the 11 of June, 1962, three inmates escaped from Alcatraz prison. They created fake heads fashioned from soap, toothpaste, concrete dust, and toilet paper and used them as decoys to fool the guards into thinking they were still asleep in their cells.

Noticed that Elliott has the arrival dates of Luther (3rd event), April 10th 1962, and Allison (2nd event), June 29th 1961, pinned to his wall, and figured I might as well try and calculate how old everyone is..
(Elliott's date for Diego is wrong, placing him at Sep 17th, when he arrived on Sep 1st.)
These are not perfect dates but they should be fairly close? and I'm not very good at maths so please correct me!
Hargreeves' ages in age order:
Five
Disappears at 13 yr, 1 mo, and 9 days old.
His new birthday in the apocalypse is now: 22nd February
+ 45 years in the apocalypse + an unknown amount of time in the commission makes him at least 58 yr, 1 mo, and 9 days old at the start of s1.
+ 8 days in s1 makes him at least 58 yr, 1 mo, and 17 days old at the start of s2.
+ 8 days in s2 makes him at least 58 yr, 1 mo, and 25 days old at the start of s3.
+ 7 days in s3 makes him at least 58 yr, 2 mo, and 2 days old at the end of s3.
From s1 - s3 he has aged 23 days.
Using this estimate (his minimum age) Five's new birthday in the reset universe might be: 5th February
Klaus
Travels to Vietnam at 29 yr, 5 mo, and 26 days old.
(Klaus leaves Vietnam on February 21st, supposedly arriving in Vietnam on April 21st) His new birthday in Vietnam is now: 25th October
+ 10 months in Vietnam makes him 30 yr, 3 mo, and 26 days old when he returns to March 28th 2019.
+ 3 days to finish s1 makes him 30 yr, 3 mo, 29 days old at the end of s1.
(Klaus arrives in Dallas on February 11th) His new birthday in Dallas is now: 12th October
+3 yr, 9 mo, and 4 days in the 60s makes him 34 yrs, 1 mo, 3 days old at the start of s2.
+ 8 days in s2 makes him 34 yrs, 1 mo, 11 days old at the start of s3.
+ 7 days in s3 makes him 34 yrs, 1 mo, 18 days old at the end of s3.
His new birthday in the reset universe is now: 20th February
Allison
Allison is 29 yr, 6 mo old at the end of s1.
(She arrives in Dallas on June 29th) Her new birthday in Dallas is now: 29th December
+ 2 yr, 4 mo, 17 days in the 60s makes her 31 yr, 10 mo, and 17 days old at the start of s2.
+ 8 days in s2 makes her 31 yr, 10 mo, 25 days old at the start of s3.
+ 7 days in s3 makes her 31 yr, 11 mo, 2 days old at the end of s3.
Her new birthday in the reset universe is now: 6th May
Luther
Luther is 29 yr, 6 mo old at the end of s1.
(He arrives in Dallas on April 10th) His new birthday in Dallas is now: 10th October
+ 1 yr, 7 mo, 5 days in the 60s makes him 31 yr, 1 mo, 5 days old at the start of s2.
+ 8 days in s2 makes him 31 yr, 1 mo, 13 days old at the start of s3.
+ 7 days in s3 makes him 31 yr, 1 mo, 20 days old at the end of s3.
His new birthday in the reset universe is now: 18th February
Diego
Diego is 29 yr, 6 mo old at the end of s1.
+ 2 mo, 14 days in the 60s (2 mo, 5 days in the asylum) makes him 29 yr, 8 mo, 14 days old at the beginning of s2.
+ 8 days in s2 makes him 29 yr, 8 mo, 22 days old at the start of s3.
+ 7 days in s3 makes him 29 yr, 8 mo, 29 days old at the end of s3.
His new birthday in the reset universe is now: 9th July
Viktor
Viktor is 29 yr, 6 mo old at the end of s1.
+ 1 mo, 3 days in the 60s makes him 29 yr, 7 mo, 3 days old at the start of s2.
+ 8 days in s2 makes him 29 yr, 7 mo, 11 days old at the start of s3.
+ 7 days in s3 makes him 29 yr, 7 mo, 18 days old at the end of s3.
His new birthday in the reset universe is now: 20th August
Lila
her age is completely unknown. we can guess she's around the same age as the umbrellas but otherwise she's a mystery.
Ritu Arya, her actress, was 32 in 2020 when s2 was released so that's as close to canon as we know right now, (except, the majority of the cast are older than their on screen counterparts, except for David who was actually born in 1989 and Aidan in s1 as he was 13 when he was cast).
The only other information we have on her age is that she was orphaned and kidnapped at 4. and that she spent 3 months in Berlin between s2 and s3.
Sparrows
All of the Sparrows are 29 yrs, 6 mo, 1 day old at the start of s3:
Marcus dies at 29 yrs, 6 mo, 1 day old.
Jayme and Alphonso die at 29 yrs, 6 mo, 3 days old.
Fei and Chris die at 29 yrs, 6 mo, 6 days old.
Sloane goes missing at 29 yrs, 6 mo, 7 days old.
Sparrow Ben enters the reset universe at 29 yrs, 6 mo, 7 days old.
Ben and Sloane's birthday's remain as October 1st
i think? please do correct me if im wrong!
tua s4 speculation under the cut
if s4 is 6 years on then the ages we have are:
Five is 64 in a 19yro body
Klaus is 40
Allison is 38
Luther is 37
Diego is 36
Viktor is 36
Ben is 36
Lila and Diego's kid is probably turning 6 yro.
Claire could be anywhere between 17 and 13 since she seems to be a teenager?

Evolution of a Legend: The Ford GT40's Origins in the Mustang-I
Before partnering with Lola on the GT Mk6 in August 1963, Ford's vision for the GT40 was heavily influenced by the sleek design of the Mustang-I. The prototype Ford GT's exterior was essentially based on the Mustang-I, showcasing a striking resemblance between the two. Notice the date on the picture.
As the project progressed, Ford opted to merge the best of both worlds. They took the redesigned Lola GT Mk6 chassis and wrapped the Mustang-I-inspired body around it, ultimately giving birth to the iconic Ford GT40. This fusion of design and engineering expertise would go on to create a racing legend.
TIMELINE:
October 7, 1962 - Mustang at Watkins Glen
October 20, 1962 - Mustang at Laguna Seca
October 26, 1962 - Lola Mk6 showed up incomplete at the London Car Show
January 1963 - Lola Mk6 first shown at UK Olympia Racing Car Show. Showed up three days late and incomplete
Feb 1963 - Enzo Ferrari sends Ford an offer
May 11, 1963 - The silver Mk6 was the first MK6 GT to be raced, entering two races in May of 1963
May 22, 1963 - Ferrari backed out of deal w/Ford
June 1963 - High Performance and Special Models Operation Unit was formed and a basic design was made
June 12, 1963 - GT Program book, circulated internally on June 12th, just 21 days after Ferrari ended deal
June 19, 1963 - the first GT40 clay model is photographed
July 1963 - Advanced Concept Department- Special Vehicle Activity (SVA) was formed
July 1963 - initially models were wind tunnel tested
July 4, 1963 - HFII was planning to be in Maranello signing a $10 million contract with Enzo Ferrari that would give Ford Motor Co. half the Italian sports car manufacturer
July 12, 1963 - full size clay model is pictured next to Corvette and Jaguar
July 17, 1963 - The decision to go with a european firm was approved
July 1963 - a selection of vendors was made by the end of July
August 1963 - a workshop was established in Broadley’s garage in Bromley, south of London
August 1963 - two Lola Mk6 were tested by Ford till early November
September 1963 - FAV opens in Slough, England
September 1963 - the center of activity was therefo removed from Dearborn to England, together with a nucleus of Ford engineers, car layouts, power pack components and full-size models.
October 4, 1963 - a Ford GT clay model is photographed outside at Ford's Design Studio in Dearborn
Oct 1963 - Design engineers were sent to England in mid October
October 23, 1963 - a Ford GT body is photographed outside with a Ford stripe on the rocker
Nov 1963 - The final shape models were sent to England in early November
Nov 1963 - Component testing was completed by the end of November
March 16, 1964 - first gt40 delivered
April 1st, 1964 the first prototype Ford GT was completed and photographed. The first 12 "prototype" vehicles carried serial numbers GT-101 to GT-112. Production GT40s Mk I and Mk II began with GT40P/1000.
April 15 , 1964 - GT40 time trials in Le Mans in mid-April,
After disappointing race results, the engineering team was moved in 1964 to Dearborn, Michigan, USA, to design and build cars by its advanced developer, Kar Kraft.

The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.

Adieu to the divine Françoise Hardy (17 January 1944 – 11 June 2024). Her death aged 80 is deeply saddening but not unexpected (Hardy had been living with cancer for many years). Where to start with this Parisian pop goddess, French national treasure, inspired musician, impossibly chic style icon (dressed by Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Paco Rabanne and photographed by likes of Richard Avedon and David Bailey) and occasional model and actress? On a superficial level, with her moody, inscrutable penchant for glancing downwards through a sweep of long bangs and false eyelashes, Hardy was a French kissin’ cousin to contemporaries like Marianne Faithfull and Chelsea Girls-period Nico. Most importantly, her music is timelessly devastating. Think of the swirling, lush drama and crescendos of 1960s Dusty Springfield or Phil Spector productions, but with a Gallic twist and with Hardy’s beguiling, coolly poised but sensual and emotive murmurs, sighs and whispers at the eye of the storm. And from her 1962 debut onward, she wrote her own songs when it was far from the norm for pop singers, let alone female ones. No wonder Gen X-ers embraced her as an adored cult figure during the 1990s “loungecore” era. My favourite songs by Hardy (and her quality control was exceptional) would have to include “Je n’attends plus personne” (with its unexpectedly angry snarling fuzzed-out guitar), “Et Même” (with its “handclaps-of-doom” intro before the piano kicks in – trust me, that description makes sense when you listen to it!), “C’est le passe”, “Tu peux bien”, “Je t’aime”, “Voilà” and her collaborations with Serge Gainsbourg (“Comment te Dire Adieu” and “L’Anamour”). What an artist, what a woman.

"My fingers are so full of amazing news to type that I hardly know where to begin. First of all, you better stop what you are doing and be very quiet and sit down with a tall glass of cool lager and be read to keep a huge and miraculous secret: your sister, as of 1:30 p.m. June 16th in London at the 250 year old church of St. George the Martyr is now a married woman! Mrs. Sylvia Hughes, Mrs. Ted Hughes, Mrs. Edward James Hughes, Mrs. E. J. Hughes (wife of the internationally known poet and genius): take your pick. It is really true."
--from The Letters of Sylvia Plath Volume 1: 1940-1956, a letter to her brother Warren Plath, written on Monday, 18 June 1956
Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes first met on 25 February 1956 at party in Cambridge, England. They married only four months later on 16 June 1956 at St George the Martyr, Holborn, London in honor of Bloomsday with Plath‘s mother Aurelia being the only wedding guest. They have been married for six years and four months until Plath died by suicide on 11 February 1963.
Even though they have been separated for four months since October 1962, they never got a divorce. Maybe today would have been their 68th anniversary, if they were alive and stayed together. However, despite Ted Hughes later claiming that they were about to reconcile, they were, more likely, heading for a divorce.

youtube
Françoise Madeleine Hardy 17 January 1944 – 11 June 2024) 🌹 was a French singer-songwriter and actress. Mainly known for singing melancholic sentimental ballads, Hardy rose to prominence in the early 1960s as a leading figure of the yé-yé wave.
In addition to her native French, she also sang in English, Italian and German. Her career spanned more than fifty years with over thirty studio albums released.
Born and raised in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, Hardy made her musical debut in 1962 on French label Disques Vogue and found immediate success through the song "Tous les garçons et les filles". Drifting away from her early rock and roll influences, she began to record in London in 1964, which allowed her to broaden her sound with albums such as Mon amie la rose, L'amitié, La maison où j'ai grandi and Ma jeunesse fout le camp….
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, she released Comment te dire adieu, La question and Message personnel, to further establish her artistry. In this period, she worked with songwriters such as Serge Gainsbourg, Patrick Modiano, Michel Berger and Catherine Lara. Between 1977 and 1988, she worked with producer Gabriel Yared with the albums Star, Musique saoûle, Gin Tonic and À suivre. Her 1988 record Décalages was widely publicized as Hardy's final album, although she returned eight years later with Le danger, which completely reinvented her sound to a harsher alternative rock. Her following albums of the 2000s—Clair-obscur, Tant de belles choses and (Parenthèses…) - saw a return to her mellow style. In the 2010s, Hardy released her last three albums: La pluie sans parapluie, L'amour fou, and Personne d'autre.
Hardy remains one of the best-selling singers in French history, and continues to be regarded as an iconic and influential figure in both French pop and fashion.

1961's The WORLD of ICE and FIRE
Tumblr media
I'm going to do it. I'm going to self-indulge!
The Roger Corman ASOIAF production post is mostly just a novelty, but since I'm me, I have a lot of FEELINGS and OPINIONS about this cast. Naturally.
Tumblr media
Anyway. Here's how well I think the actors in my post would play their roles, from worst to best.
Tumblr media
#19, Worst: John Ashley as Robb Stark
You know how Ben Affleck has a face that knows about emails? John Ashley has a face that knows about sock hops. Woefully miscast.
Tumblr media
#18: Tor Johnson as Gregor Clegane
God love the big guy, but I've only ever seen him make this face. Also, despite his repertoire of roles suggesting otherwise on paper, he just doesn't seem like a mean guy.
Tumblr media
#17: John Agar as Jaime Lannister
Another terrible choice. The only reason he's not ranked as worst is because his soulless performance would make viewers interpret Jaime as an absolutely irredeemable sociopath, which at least would be... uh, interesting, I guess.
Tumblr media
#16 Robert Reed as Renly Baratheon
Renly, but only if he was the most boring Baratheon. Go ahead, try to picture Reed eating a peach. You can't.
Tumblr media
#15 Dawn Bender as Arya Stark
Aw, she'd try. But I feel like her attempts at Arya's fire would mostly come off as petulance.
Tumblr media
#14 Richard Carlson as Ned Stark
Sorry, what? I fell asleep for a minute there.
Tumblr media
#13 June Kenney as Daenerys Targaryen
Kenney would try her level best, but you know Corman would do a terrible job incorporating her storyline with the main plot, so she wouldn't have much to do except lounge around on mildly offensive orientalist sets and talk to her force-perspective dragon puppets. (Stop-motion you say? What, you think American International is made of money?)
Tumblr media
#12 Dolores Faith as Sansa Stark
Again, no knock to Faith, but as with Daenerys, I think a 1961 production would flatten Sansa's character away to nothing. She'd get to pine and wear some nice dresses.
Tumblr media
#11 Anthony Dexter as Petyr Baelish
This guy can play oily like nobody's business (check him out in 1962's Married Too Young), but 5D-chess-level deviousness might be beyond him.
Tumblr media
#10 Michael Dunn as Tyrion Lannister
Full disclosure: I'm plopping him in the middle because I've never seen him in anything! The only little person I've personally seen in Corman's movies is Billy Barty (playing an actual, literal imp), and Dunn was someone I found who was said to play much meatier roles. In general, I think the depth of Tyrion's character would seriously challenge 1960s casting directors who were used to casting little people in jokey roles or as something less than human. One of many problems they'd have with the source material, no doubt.
Tumblr media
#9 Lon Cheney Jr. as Sandor Clegane
Here's another actor who would do the best with what he was given - which would be an essentially empty role. This Sandor would be a beast used only for jump scares, with too much rubber over his face to ever show an emotion.
Tumblr media
#8 Glen Langan as Stannis Baratheon
Langan would be serious, but dull, with lots of droning sermonizing. In other words, perfect. Still boring though.
Tumblr media
#7 Basil Rathbone as Tywin Lannister
Who better to play a role totally owned by Charles Dance than an actor who's even Charles Dancier? The only reason I'm not ranking this legend higher is because I do think he'd kind of sleepwalk through this role, especially at this stage in his career.
Tumblr media
#6 Raymond Burr as Robert Baratheon
The future Mr. Perry Mason was damn good at playing hard-drinking, prowly, "beastly" men. See him in this fabulous trailer for 1951's Bride of the Gorilla (spoiler: Burr is the gorilla). Of course, for this production, he'd be about 10 years on from that virile role, but that's perfectly on brand for Bobby B.
Tumblr media
#5 Michael Landon as Jon Snow
Landon's tortured James Dean era would be a great fit for angsty goth teen Jon, though he might have trouble keeping his feelings as hidden as Jon does.
Tumblr media
#4 Allison Hayes as Melisandre
Should she be ranked this high? Eh, maybe not, but this woman is a goddamn B-movie bombshell goddess. Her Red Woman would be a little less mysterious, sure, but her perfectly arched eyebrows and bullet bra would do R'hllor proud all the same.
Tumblr media
#3 Marie Windsor as Catelyn Stark
They didn't call her Queen of the B's for nothing. Windsor always did great with roles that call for strength and verve. She'd be a fantastic Cat, and - dare I dream it - an even better Lady Stoneheart.
Tumblr media
#2 Jack Nicholson as Theon Greyjoy
Now this would be fun. If baby Jack Nicholson had half the presence and charisma he would show in later movies, his Theon would be legendary.
Tumblr media
#1 Coleen Gray as Cersei Lannister
If I can get Tumblr to understand one thing, it's how much Coleen Gray would absolutely eat in the role of Cersei. She's beautiful. She's a schemer. She's a helpless victim. She's back for revenge. I challenge anyone to watch her insane, murderous, fierce, gorgeous, duplicitous performance in 1960's otherwise pretty terrible The Leech Woman and not come to the same conclusion. I'm serious. There would be no survivors. 👑

Biblioteca Pública Pilar Faus. Public library in the city of València (Valencian Country), located in the place that once was the first psychiatric hospital in Europe and one of the first ones in the world.
In the year 1409, the Valencian priest Joan Gilabert Jofré was walking to the Cathedral of València, where he had to give mass. On his way there, he saw a group of children mocking and hitting a mentally-ill boy, making fun of him calling him "crazy". Father Jofré stopped it, scolded the kids, and took the mentally-ill boy to the convent, where he could stay safe. Then, Father Jofré went back to the Cathedral and preached a sermon focused on the need for the city to establish a charitable institution to take care of and treat mentally-ill people and other outcasts. At the time, this was an unusual approach, because the Christian view said that people with psychological problems were possessed by the Devil. Luckily, Father Jofré's sermon was very well-received, and at the end of the mass 11 Valencians, including some from the most important families at the time like Llorenç Salom and Bernat Andreu, approached Jofré and offered to fund this new institution. They bought an area with houses and fields and founded the Hospital dels Innocents or Hospital dels Folls de València, inaugurated on June 9th 1409.
It is often considered the first time where an institution in a majority-Christian country treated people with psychological illnesses from the point of view of being people who are ill and need to be taken care of and cured, and not treated through exorcisms nor thought to be possessed. It was not only important for the medicine part of it, but also because it gave mentally-ill people a place to live and food, in a time period where otherwise they were very often beggars and lived in the streets. The Valencian Hospital was seen as a reference and many countries in Europe and Latin America created similar institutions based on it.
The hospital was successful and received the permission to build an expansion in 1493, but most of it burned down in a fire in 1547: the only element of the original Medieval building that still remains nowadays is the Gothic portal at the entrance. The rest of the hospital was rebuilt in Renaissance style as the General Hospital of València.
It was used as a hospital until 1962, when a modern building was created for it. The demolition of the old hospital started, but Valencian citizens organized to preserve the building. The old chemist's, the church, and the faculty of medicine that the University of València had built there were already demolished, but the organized citizens saved the sickroom building. Since 1979, the sickroom building hosts the Public Library Pilar Faus.

March 1, 1924... remembering Donald “Deke” Slayton Would be 100th birthday for USAF pilot/astronaut Donald "Deke Slayton, selected a NASA astronaut in 1959, USAF Captain Donald Slayton became one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts. However centrifuge training electrocardiodiagrams pointed out he had a heart condition, so he became chief of the astronaut office, deciding on crew planning for the Gemini and Apollo programs. In March 1972, NASA announced that Slayton had returned to flight status and in this way he became DMP - Docking Module Pilot for the historic Apollo-Soyuz Test Project in July 1975. Wristwatch-wise, Donald Slayton wore a lot of watches (Accutron, Breitling, Bulova, Omega,...)  and he was the first of the NASA astronauts to be spotted wearing an Omega Speedmaster CK2998-4 in December 1962. By June 1963, three NASA astronauts (Donald Slayton, Walter Schirra & Leroy Cooper) had a personal Speedmaster CK2298. Although bezelless since June 1963, Slayton kept wearing his Speedmaster CK2298 untill June 1965. Note in this 1991 portrait, Donald Slayton wore his Gold "Apollo 11" tribute Omega Speedmaster BA 145.022-69 n° 27 chronograph on yellow Gold bracelet awarded in November 1969.
