Siraj's campaign is stagnating!! At $25,435 CAD and with the collection of only $280 CAD in 10 hours we are far behind the schedule if we want to collect 30k within this week!
Siraj does not have time. Yes, it is true that he is not evacuating but you do realize that, this puts him in more of a danger right?? Anything can happen to him at any moment! In fact let this be a reminder that he can only get online after travelling 3km everyday to reach an Internet point, where he can access a hotspot connection in exchange of exorbitant amount of money.
His daily route puts him in the way of scrutiny of occupation forces. And Siraj has said that there already have been shellings and death on that route.
This fundraiser has been set up, so that Siraj can start rebuilding his home. This is his dream, and in Gaza where we all know that there is no safety, the peace of a steady campaign is all Siraj has!
Once again I remind you that being in Gaza is dangerous! Gazans cannot afford endless time. Anyone can be targeted at any moment. Every second during which a campaign stagnates, it pushes the end goal farther away and anything can happen in this the time!! What use an unfinished campaign will be for Siraj, if something happens to him? Who will fulfill his promise to his family?
Siraj's son is currently sick. He cannot campaign like he has been for past however many months. Everyday is a struggle for Siraj- everyday life in Gaza is becoming more and more expensive due to an engineered scarcity! Everyday Siraj tries his best to race against time to collect the funds that would help him rebuild.
Siraj does not want to leave Gaza. He wants to survive and rebuild! Please do not let this campaign stagnate anymore than it already has!!
If it is incentive you want, then I can tell you there are 2 art commissions going on for Siraj.
1. @sheplaysbassdotmp3 is doing art commissions for every $10 CAD donated to Siraj. Any character/ship sketches of your choice- barring nsfw. Please check out her pinned for more details.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you are into music, then she also has her beautiful drawings of artists like Chappell Roan!
Tumblr media
2. @imjustheretotrytohelp also has opened art commissions for Siraj. You will get half body sketches if you donate $15 and bust sketches for $9. Characters, OC, fanarts- barring nsfw. Check out her pin for more details, about the commissions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both of these artists are trying their best to help! Please do your part too. Boost and Donate! There has been very very little donations as compared to the posts going around for Siraj. This cannot happen!! We need to reach 30k by this week!!

hello all !!!
i'm happy to announce that i'll be doing commissions for palestine in the same way that lots of other creators have !! you donate the minimum amount detailed below to a palestinian fundraiser (either individual or an organisation like unrwa) for the type of art you want, provide proof of donation to me, and i'll draw for you !!
please note that the art will be limited to bust shots of characters, as i am pricing it lower than i would a regular commission to ensure as many people as possible are able to donate for some art.
if you aren't able to donate the minimum amounts i've listed under my art after the "keep reading", you're free to donate however much you want, still providing proof of donation to me, and i can doodle something for you (same detail as the little guy in the image above).
if you can't donate, please reblog this post !!! it would help lots :3
WHAT I WILL DRAW: - furries - artistic nudity (nothing sexual however. i am a minor. keep that in mind please) - slight gore - fanart - pretty much anything apart from what i won't draw tbh
WHAT I WON'T DRAW: - mecha - backgrounds beyond geometric shapes and colours - sexual nsfw or very gory art - guns (unless provided with a reference of what you want) - actual animals
please note that i reserve all rights to post and share any art i make, although commissioners of that art will not be named if i post the piece.
again, note that the donations must be made and proved before i start work on the art. for pieces where i keep some of the proceeds (explained below the keep reading), half of the overall payment must be given upfront before i start work.
for pieces with lineart and colours i will send progress pictures of the sketches to you for approval, or to make any changes necessary, before i move forward with the piece.
i will not accept any commissions with a deadline of less than a month (for bigger pieces with either lineart, colours and shading or more than one character, i will need at least a period of 2 months due to schoolwork and other commitments of mine taking up time), i will accept a maximum of 5 commissions per month, and i reserve the right to refuse commissions if i am not comfortable with completing them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
rough sketch - £10
Tumblr media
lineart - £15
Tumblr media
lineart and flat colours - £25
---
if you want a piece with more detail or that is full body, i will be keeping part of the proceeds, but will still donate half of the overall payment to a palestinian fundraiser, which i will provide proof of for you. my prices for these are:
rough sketch (same quality as the sketches above, albeit full body and/or with two characters) - £20
lineart (again with full body and/or two characters) - £30
lineart and flat colours (full body and/or two characters) - £50
lineart, coloured WITH shading (full body, one character (examples below) - £70
please note that for every character added after what is specified above, £15 will be added to the base price.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'll have my commission slot status in my bio !!
have a lovely day, free palestine !!!!!

I come in peace! I don’t wanna try to convince you to take commissions! But I am curious about why you’re so strongly against them, did you have a bad experience working on one? Anyway, love your stuff, your tarot designs go so hard
Thanks for the love!! The reason isn't a bad experience or some such, it's 19 years of being a professional artist and knowing the field!
TLDR: I'm a traditional pen and ink illustrator, so it's not financially viable or creatively fulfilling.
I'm always down to talk art business, so here's a brief breakdown wall of text:
On the financial side, commission designs are almost always done at a net loss/break even for the artist, and I'm no exception. They're alright for starting out, or if you're looking to incorporate them into your marketing (IE: doing a poster design for a band to gain exposure), but typically they're roughly half the cash-per-hour for any established artist VS making an original design, and creating a print run of it.
Example: while tons of folks would look at someone charging $1k USD for a commission and think that it would be crazy cash, once you break down the math, it's pretty bad. An average design for me takes on average 30-40 hours, and that's because I don't have to communicate with anyone else. I'm just drawin' my idea. Assuming this is a dream client who has the mind-meld with me, wire transfers the $1k straight into my bank account the second it's done, that's roughly $25/hr. Once again - this looks *great*, that's around $50k/yr from drawing custom stuff! But that's not how it works. First of all, most folks would lose their *minds* at paying $1k for a commission - over the years I graphed it out, and back when I was a less-established artist, most folks would start with a budget of $100, have their limits pushed at $300, and outright refuse $500. You have to sift through all of those folks in order to get that reasonable commission. That includes folks who aren't willing to commit to a commission, don't want to say no to the price, but will still take up your time. Roughly, for me at least, 10 hours a week of it. You'll also have to run collections on roughly 20% of your customers - they may pay the deposit, but you'll have to chase them for the final payment. Even if you take the payment *in advance* you'll end up having to chase them down/get ghosted. So, realistically: you end up taking the $500, for *at least* 50 hours of work. On average, it clocked in closer to 65-70. $7.14 an hour. That's less than a third living wage and less than minimum wage. You cannot grow an art practice while actively starving. It's easier to make a design, sell it/license it/etc. to make more cash without losing your mind.
That said - After 2020, I reached a point in my career that when I take on custom work, it's typically from a larger brand with a larger scope and larger budget, ranging anywhere from $5k-$30k. That said - these businesses are typically ones that understand the industry and are far less of a headache to work with than individuals, and will give several months worth of work at a time at a living wage.
On the creative side, I enjoy making my own designs and work as opposed to other folks. I have a ton of drawings and projects I'd rather work on and share with folks of my own that are infinitely more fun than the 200th identical commission request (a biblically accurate angel that also is the grim reaper that is also Baldur's Gate 3 thirstraps/Dark Souls fan art/primarchs because Y'ALL AIN'T CREATIVE BUT MY ASTARION X SANGUINIUS SHIP CAME FIRST.) Also, most of the fun of my career is knowing as many folks as possible get to enjoy my art junk. I'd rather go through a few extra hoops and have thousands of folks see my stuff vs something only one other person gets to see.
If you made it this far, congrats, here is my favorite image I have saved in my camera roll:

Welcome to my corner of chaotic whimsy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm Red or formally known as, Justine...
I am a multi-media artist. I am my own photographer, editor and model, I am an illustrator (HUMAN ARTIST, NOT AI) and seamstress. I am a crafty/fitness YouTuber, an OnlyFans model and a boxing instructor/fitness coach. I do hope you enjoy your stay in my wee corner of chaos and please feel free to use any and ALL of my reference photos for your artistic needs! Also do say hi!! I try my best to answer every message and comment! I just appreciate you being here so gosh darned much.
FAQ
ONLYFANS: I know, when you hear "OnlyFans" your mind goes to some pretty wild places. I am a non-spicy model, which means I censor everything as tastefully as possible! You can think of me as a whimsical lingerie model! I started my OF as a way to raise funds for my FREE boxing gym for underprivileged children and to provide artists with cheap art packs.
YOUTUBE: I started my YouTube channel as a way for me to express myself even further with my art. My OF photoshoots aren't always the artistic sets I would like them to be and I stopped drawing years ago (attached are a few of my illustrations, including the cover to my web comic "The Nun's Mistake" and the cover for Colm McGuinness' album "The Colm Before The Storm" on Spotify) so I figured I would try and make photography my new medium for "paintings". Even with that in mind, I still wanted to be crafty and what with my day job in concrete/construction, I don't get a lot of free time to myself. Hence, YOUTUBE! YouTube has given me the chance to make content that I can be free to have fun with and Patreon is helping me to continue pursuing that dream!
MY ART: I spent 10+ years working as a freelance artist between my other jobs. My art never sold, I barely got a single commission and people always tried getting things for free. Safe to say my art failed miserably and I gave up on it for a few years. My OF and ESPECIALLY YouTube are helping me find that spark again! (P.S art commissions are not open, I see where your sweet little brain was going!)
BOXING: I have been a trainer/professional boxer for over 8 years now. I trained with world champions and fought on a professional level and found a love for teaching along the way. I got tired of how expensive boxing classes are, seeing as there are so few "trainers" who actually know what they're doing and aren't just MMA people pretending to know what Boxing is. SO, I and the other trainers decided to dedicate our lives to opening a completely FREE boxing gym for underprivileged children. We have put every penny we earn into this gym. Everything I make in my day jobs and OF helps to fund the gym, while the Patreon helps me to fund my dream of quitting my back breaking job in concrete and work full-time as a YouTuber/Creator.
WHAT ARE YOU: I am a cisgendered woman. I got my dad's tits and his jaw, I know, I appear more masculine than femme. I also work out a lot, hence the muscles.
WHAT ARE YOU ON: Bro, if I was on roids, THERE WOULD BE SIGNS. I am a SMOL, natty Muscle Mommy!
Thank you for taking the energy and time out of your own life to show me kindness, love and support. Thank you for being here.

Help a starving artist
Or, at least, one who is trying quite hard not to.
As people relatively close to me know, I lost my job last July. It was a shitty situation all around, but I survived on savings and unemployment. But frankly, having been a toilet scrubber for most of my life, I never had a huge amount of savings and now unemployment has run out; did last month, in fact. I've sent out well over a thousand applications. I've rejiggered my resume, asked people for letters of recommendation, wrote too many cover letters, etc. I was hired for a job in early January and did my drug test two weeks ago, but I still haven't heard back from that employer, so I'm now staring down the barrel of ah, as if I somehow forgot what terror and poverty felt like again. Delightful. 0/10, would not recommend, though honestly, a lot of people I know already know the feeling.
What can you do?
You can subscribe to my Substack as a paid subscriber. Not only do you get my hopefully entertaining writing in your inbox -- which is free to everyone anyway -- you also get to request things if you're a paid subscriber. If it's monthly, every three months you can request a sketch or a specific comic review or even a fanfic review for yourself or someone else (within reason, like under 10K words). If it's as a founding member, you can request something every single month in the same vein. (Believe me, you're getting a bargain on those requests.)
You can commission me for art. I'm a decent artist. My rate is $25 an hour and I am not swift at it, but I am pretty damn okay and certainly cheaper than a professional artist. To give you a rough idea, that half-body pic I did of Guy was about ten hours, where the one I did of Ted was more like 15. A really good portrait sketch is probably about an hour. The more detailed, the more time.
I might be talked into writing commissions, depending on the writing. You can absolutely talk to me about hiring me if you want me to write your cover letters, because it's a hateful task, but I'm not too bad at it.
I can design letterheads like a boss. I was a printer for over sixteen years.
If you just want to throw money at me, I mean-- who turns that down? (Though I tend to prefer to do something for it, which is probably more evidence than anyone actually needs for what kind of childhood I had. HA!) But my paypal is:
paypal.me/steelandfic
Current utility bills under the cut. Like-- that's not counting groceries, pet food, the roof over my head, the filling in my tooth that I'm waiting for the bill for or anything else. That's just utilities.
And if you can't do anything else, please consider signal-boosting? Thanks.

EMERGENCY COMMISIONS || PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING ME
PLEASE DONT SCROLL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is me - Carl or Ray! And I REALLY need to move out of my place of residence as soon as possible. The reason of the emergency is that I need to get out of a toxic environment ASAP The big problem is my mother, who is NOT mentally stable. She treats me very ambivalently: at first good, then suddenly horrible. She threatens me with violence, and plays on my emotions and mental health. She is often transphobic towards me, doesn't value my opinion at all, and if I don't agree with her, she starts a scandal and threatens me.
She doesn't care that I'm haunted by suicidal thoughts, saying that it's my own fault and that I would finally LEAVE THE WORLD, and then she abruptly changes her position, deceiving me with words, saying that:
"I just ACCIDENTALLY said it, it wasn't what I meant"
And then again it loops in a circle: scandals, threats and, that I just misunderstood it all and that it was my own fault. She is trying her best to keep me in her house, telling me I can't go anywhere because I'm not capable of doing anything.
My mom said herself that despite the psychologist's recommendation to go to sessions too, she says she doesn't have time and she's old, she just has such nerves and it's NOT a bad thing.
She's not a very b*stard. I live in a warm place and have everything, but her mentally is not stable. Accusations, threats of violence that she will start the same way she did when she was a child and verbal abuse towards me. All her negativity towards me, I am not going to take it anymore, I have enough frayed nerves and tears as it is. I don't feel safe in this house. I don't want it to continue..
…. It hurts to be around her anymore, so I need your help to move out of this place.
So, I open commissions to get enough money so I can pay for tickets, luggage and move out! And also, to have enough money to get by.

Need advice.
I currently work 3 jobs. Fine. Same story. I plan to open commissions again in December. I know how bad things are, there is a recession. I want to keep it 35 usd. The reason it is so cheap- is because I am disabled now. I feel immense pain from rsis, sometimes even ruptured blood vessels along my wrist, knuckles and thumb pads- from drawing so much-
Being disabled = work takes longer to finish. I am only earning 350 usd a month through commissions because of PayPal enormous transaction fees. I been working nonstop all year. My longtime followers can vouch for me that I've rarely made personal art this year. The problem is that I genuinely, I simply cannot draw fast anymore. It is beyond my capabilities. But I also no longer get customers if I charge more than 30 usd. What do I do. What can I write on my TOS that customers can read so they know what they are getting into when they hire me- that I am disabled- therefore slow. And is honesty enough? I just saw someone on Instagram complain that their 15 usd commission took the artist 10 days. To me that is obscenely fast. All the other artists I've hired to do commissions for me would take a month. And I paid them 75 usd I believe. Please don't tell me I am fucked. I want to have the time to draw personal projects while also being able to take In commissions. What can I do to work around this?

Today I had a little lesson in my naivety… I have a very long fic that I’m working on in my fandom, and recently, I got a comment that was super nice, at the end, they asked if I had any socials so that they could talk to me more about the fic.
I was really excited, because this was how I made a lot of my really good friends, so I was totally down to chat. We got to chatting and eventually they mentioned they were an animator and we just started talking more and then before I realized it, it was basically a pitch for me to commission them. I love to support artists whenever I can, but I am a bit in between jobs atm, and they told me this was “going to have to be a paid collab” (which I wasn’t even looking for a commission or anything, this just happened). They were really pushy about it, telling me that they would charge between 1800-2200 USD for 10 secs of animation (more than fair, animation is HARD work, but again, I didn’t ask for a commission), and that they were willing to let me pay in installments…
It’s a bit petty but I’m just kind of miffed that they said in the comment that they wanted to talk about my fic, I love doing that, I love talking shop and about my process and all that jazz! Like I said, I made a lot of friends because of that, and I’m really grateful for them!! This particular fic, I’ve been working on it for a little over 2.5 years, it’s my baby atp, so it just stung a little more that it was used to basically try and fish for a commission… I remember thinking “this is all well and good, but did you actually LIKE my fic? Or were you just going around to see if anyone will bite at your offer?”
It’s just a pretty sucky feeling, it’s been a few hours and I’m still really upset :(
--
Hi! I'm the person that was sad about getting commission fished by someone asking for 1800-2200 USD for a ten second animation for their longfic..... I have now, belatedly, realized that was a scam, and I feel like a big idiot, but luckily they don't have any of my information and I've told all my friends about them Now the only thing to do is to nurse my ego like the big doofus I am haha XD

Some actual helpful commission tips for young/newer artists
1. Don’t accept people sending you messages asking for free art. I know it’s tempting because you don’t feel like your art is “worth actual money” because maybe you’re not that practiced yet but there are other ways to put yourself out there other than just taking free commissions, because the thing is people who send you messages like that do not respect you and will not respect you no matter what.
2. A way to exchange art without receiving money with people, but still gaining some notoriety and experience are art trades and requests. Request and people asking for free art sound very similar, but there is one big distinction. It’s that with requests people don’t expect you to make something for them. They are just giving you ideas. People who ask for free art expect it to be up to their standards as if they paid for it and they will treat you as subhuman. Requesters don’t usually do that and if they do, you can turn them down because it’s a request.
3. Some more advice for taking commissions because I certainly needed this advice is if someone contacts you asking for commissions and they start the conversation with a price, especially if that price is very generous; It is more likely than not a scam. If you have on your page that you have commissions opened or you have a pinned post about commissions being open, but they still message you asking if your commissions are opening, they’re also probably scamming you because they didn’t actually go to your page. One thing I fell for is someone telling me that they accidentally sent too much money through and asked me to reimburse them only to have the check bounce and me to have lost a significant amount of money. Never ever ever send money back to someone commissioning you, especially if they’re already kind of shady. (if the sum actually does appear in your bank account fully confirmed and you get verification that it is actually there you could potentially send money back, but it would be better to talk to someone at the bank first to be safe.)
4. Especially on Instagram beware of accounts that will have a profile picture that is usually just some man, and the account only has three pictures on it. Typically you’ll get messages from these types of accounts saying something along the lines of that they love your art style and they’re wanting a piece drawn of their grandchild or son or something along those lines and then once again they will also open with telling you how much they will pay you out of the gate, ($400 is an amount I see used often) which will be an absurd amount of money.
5. Never ever ever give anyone your bank information over the Internet. If they’re not willing to pay via PayPal, Venmo, Cash app or any of those other money trading apps, that’s sketchy Af. I’ve had people use the excuse that they’re using their business account and therefore can’t use those apps. This is a lie, same with telling you that they can’t send the payment because the money won’t transfer because it’s too large an amount this is also a common lie, most money transferring apps have a relatively generous cap off so unless you’re selling commissions for thousands and thousands of dollars they shouldn’t be having an issue. Same thing also goes for mail delivery checks.
6. Don’t undersell yourself, but if you don’t feel comfortable selling your art for a steeper price because of your experience level, then at the very least set a reasonable price and have a limit to how many slots do you have available for commissions because otherwise people are gonna take advantage of the low price and you’re gonna be swamped with like 10 commissions at the same time where you making not even two dollars an hour.
7. Lastly, just trust your instincts if something seems fishy just play it safe because from my own personal experience, usually your gut instinct is correct. If something seems too good to be true, it is. All of this information comes from my own experiences with scammers and being taken advantage of as a young artist so if you do end up falling for a scam like that, don’t be embarrassed because you’re not the only one. If something goes wrong, you can always go to your bank and discuss it with the people there and they should help you, and I’m sure there are a bunch of other older artists in the community who would be willing to help you if you were having some doubts about a situation.

okay so. since the other post hasnt gotten any takers and i am still broke im opening up more general commissions as well lol. shoot me a friend request on discord @spidermanifested if youre interested in any of the following:
regular commission fare
flat color headshot ($30): a shoulders-up drawing of any character you want, human or furry or robot or Watever. my specialty is, as always, old people. lineart and flats only.
painted headshot/halfbody ($45): a shoulders-to-torso-up drawing but this time i get to go hog wild with the shading. i like doing this better so youre basically getting swindled that it costs more
flat color full-body ($50): a full-body drawing in a pose of your choice. please feel free to give me some kind of reference for how you want the pose to look. even if its a stick figure. its So much easier that way
painted full-body ($65): a full-body drawing with shading. pose references also greatly appreciated
The Special Stuff
anime screenshot redraw ($30 per character in the shot): i love doing these also. if youve ever had a really good anime screenshot and you wanted an artists more detailed semirealistic rendition of it. even if its just that one of the guy from naruto kicking his leg up and saying "pathetic". especially if its that. i am your man
oc design collab ($10 per day): give me the details on an oc youre having trouble designing, from a description to existing reference material, and ill provide feedback and concept sketches until we settle on something youre happier with. it can be as much as asking me to design them from the ground up or as trivial as "do you think their hairstyle looks dumb"
fma eyecatch ($40): one of the intermission cards where the guy goes Full Metal Alchemist. with your character, matched to the fmab style to the best of my ability, which is preddy good i think
further info
still trying to nail down prices that are fair to me without being impossible to get takers with my limited reach. if youd like to tip me more for my efforts after seeing the final product, it would be much appreciated
extremely detailed designs (such as final fantasy 14 characters) are a 50% markup! aka, cut the price in half, and then add that amount back onto the original. i cannot afford to be drawing one million belts and swords on a single person for the same price as id charge for bart simpson
if you want me to draw naked people or horny stuff thats another 20 bucks on top of whatever the price is. which, yes, for a full body piece Does make it a bargain for you to just ask me to draw your mmorpg character naked instead.
no horny art of characters under 18, period
i dont want to just open up ship commissions point blank because drawing people interacting is so much harder. but if the ship is something i am into as well i MAY be open to it. itd be double as expensive though
im allowed to tell you something is going to be too hard or i dont want to do it for any other reason
i take payment via paypal or cashapp, whatever works better. payment details will be given via discord. please have the money ready upfront and if for whatever reason i cant complete the commission ill refund you. once again thats spidermanifested on discord, or you can dm me on here if you dont have discord but i Vastly prefer it 👍
