And maybe you'll be like "but if you don't trust businesses, how can you trust welfare?"
I fucking don't. My mom trying to get on food stamps fucked me up because a lady I never met without my permission got my SSN from my mom and started editing my files. My heart still races to this very second whenever I think about it, it kinda messed me up bad and I'll never ever ever see any kind of recourse
And I'm terrified that I'm gonna lose my medicaid just cause I inherited some money from my grandpa
And I've never even applied for disability cause it kinda doesn't matter finding out if I'd qualify or not cause of my depression, when the rules are so restrictive I don't know if I've even be allowed to keep my house
I do not fucking trust these things on a personal level. I feel like out of a lot of people I have the most to fear from them cause I'm on the edge of having things work, and that gets you punished
...but I need medicaid in order to have insurance (and when you strip out the finance side of medicaid, I love medicaid... they're honestly incredible insurance... I just... I just... dental is like 90% of why medicaid is so important to me, ever since I found out this state pays for it I've actually been able to do cleanings which is important to me cause I can't always get myself to brush)
And I think things like disability and food stamps are pretty damn important on a personal level, and honestly are also good for the economy cause they get people spending... it's practically a free cash infusion into the economy, cause these are people who need to buy stuff
There's just so much important stuff welfare does that it's worth dealing with government
No, what I want is more accountability so if someone gets my SSN from a 3rd party like my mom they're held to HIPPA styles standards where that's not ok to access my files without my permission (She changed my fucking address and tried to get medicaid to investigate me for fraud! Never even met me)
Like have some accountability there and in every situation
Secondly I want less punitive focused rules. I'd frankly prefer bezos get on disability than smack down some poor sod cause they got $2000 in the bank or cause their friend lets them live with them for free
If there's gonna be a cut off on these programs, it needs to be a solid step above the poverty line, cause... by definition I assume poverty line denotes kinda the minimum expected income people can reasonably live off of, and if you take away benefits people are gonna lose a chunk of money to covering that stuff themself, so you need a buffer before you kick people off
I don't fucking trust the government for a second, I've actively been fucked by them and on a personal level I avoid everything but medicaid and only that cause everything but the money is pleasant to deal with and I kinda need it (honestly if I was rich I'm not even kidding that I'd rather give medicaid like $400 a month than some insurance company, I sincerely like them as insurance)
But I'd trust them a lot more if they were less punitive, less out to hunt me down and gut me cause someone handed me a fiver or cause I started to get on my feet, and if government employees had concrete rules they had to follow that were actually transparent and enforced
Like 90% of my problems with welfare go away if they're held accountable and there's less "catch the welfare cheats" mentality going around
I don't trust the government in the slightest, but sadly there some jobs it kinda has to do, so I'd just rather force it to be an open book where the public can keep an eye on it and if they step out of line there's consequences (sort of like I don't trust most mega corps but happen to sometimes need stuff from them... did you know literally every cell service provider has been illegally selling shit like your location data to random people like bounty hunters, and the FCC just slapped them with a fine that's 0.02% of their yearly incomes and debated even doing that? I even can offer a source on that)
...I don't trust much of any authority cause they constantly fail me and kinda screw me. Don't trust doctors either, but I still gotta go to them, you know? ...they're just... they're real bad at listening... so many systems need systemic change
(You know who I really don't trust is the cops. I could point to so many examples. My uncle doesn't trust cops either, and he's an ex Fire and SWAT paramedic, he worked with them and we still got into a long conversation where he basically tore into them far better than I can)
(I don't trust authority that's not accountable)
#anyway; if I'm a lousy cheat or whatever least they can do is give me a gun so I can solve that problem#shit makes me wish I was canadian so I could take advantage of their sick implementation of assisted suicide#what should be a system that gives people a choice about the quality of their life; and I don't think should be relegated to terminal illne#...there was... think he was dutch; had been burned by his girlfriend all over his body; was in constant pain#and he ended up using assisted suicide in the end cause he was just in constant agony... think that's his choice to make#but of course the canadian system concretely pushes people; mostly the poor and disabled; to kill themselves#not theoretically; as in literally says word for word to them 'you should really kill yourself; just sign here'#it's sick; it truly is#but for any americans that want to dunk on it; I'm telling you we're no better#we have the exact same miserable desperation and people (again; mostly poor and disabled) into despair#only difference is we don't offer assisted suicide#the underlying issues in the US and canada are so damn similar; so much of what's happening ends up being the same#you can't act smug just cause you only make people want to die instead of also offering to help#that's like saying that you're the good guy cause while you did everything you could to drive someone to the brink#get them fired; slash their tires; just cartoon level villain stuff to personally harass this person... at least you won't hand them rope#we have such similar systemic issues to canada; and I am explicitly telling you that like the people in canada that have said#'I can't take it anymore; disability doesn't cover my expenses and I can't get any help... I'm at my wits end so I'm gonna go die'#I'm telling you that I feel that same way; just without any eugenics agency I can call up#I'm really working to get things stable; but it feels like I'm teetering on the edge of falling into permanent failure#and... and I'll actually tell you the amount even though I don't like to mention money... makes me feel guilty#my gramps left me $27k; which sounds like a lot; but I got 20 windows that need redoing (house has a lot of windows)#...if they ended up being 1k each; that's most of the money gone; if they end up being more...#and I got a whole lotta other stuff I've been putting off like plumbing around here; need to replace that faucet#it's an amount of money that helps; but it's an amount of money that isn't gonna last#...that's like a year of bills; and my mom already needs me to pay like $400 to the propane bill since she got behind#I want to use it to... to try and really get my feet on the ground; but it might loose me my insurance... it makes me want to die#and not to be a selfish bastard; but if I could I'd like to try and take and invest a bit to maybe build some passive income#given that... that a job never seems to work out for me cause I fucking suck and cause like... my insomnia has me up at 5:30 am right now#mm tag so i can find things later

So, it's currently about 10°C outside, I need to wear a jacket inside, and my upstairs tenants are running MULTIPLE air conditioners.
Are my tenants (on an "utilities included" rental agreement) being assholes, or is this just "landlord brain" kicking in? 'Cuz seriously, I can't afford the bill from the ppl upstairs, & they don't seem to give a shit... am I missing something?
#also they've moved an extra person in without declaring them as an occupant#remember: I'm paying for the hot water & any extra utility use#how much of an asshole would I he for charging them for a 10% share of the electric & gas bill for the person they LIED about?#1/10 seems like a eay more reasonable amount thanâ say#the 1/6 I could challenge for based on OCCUPANCY rather than assumed use...#but. like. the tenant said her bf would be gone by the end of January & it's March#& I set the rent on the part of my home I don't NEED to cover what my crippled ass couldn't of the mortgage+taxes#so this isn't about profitâ it's about a crippled queer holding onto a home that cost half a meter of intestine+#+& tyese assholes already stored thete rancid trash by my dad's sweaters#-blocking access to the fucking fuse box!-#'cuz I told them I don't NEED 100% of the space the contact gave me & didn't mind them using the extra to a reasonable degree...#& my mom can't even pull fully into my side of the driveway 'cuz the L driver took my spot#& they're pissing off the neighbours#who are calling the city#basically they're screwing me over đŹđ#they literally told me that one tenant's partner was staying til the end of January#I didn't agree to pay for him to do laundry until MAY!#& I bought a YEAR'S worth of dryer sheets in January & the box is almost empty...#like. srsly#I'm also charging like 10% below averageâ NOT including the utilities agreement#I am being as fair as I can while still feeding myself#aita for being pissed off about this?#Edit: there's 4 declared occupant; i didn't raise the rent when they wnt from 3#to 4 tenants b/c I had accounted for a 4th 'guest'#5 is where I start having issues#especially when he's been here 'a couple of months' in MAY when I was told he was leaving in JANUARY...

This is something I learned at one of the pre-op visits for my breast reduction! My surgeon was basically I think an independent surgeon (as I guess I would imagine is common for âcosmeticâ/plastic surgeons?) and she was telling us a little bit about what to do for talking to insurance about the surgery and stuff, and she mentioned that for us going through insurance it would be at a particular hospital, but she also often did surgeries where people didnât use there insurance, and she did those at some other place, and the price she charged up front was much lower, because that was the actual cost of the surgery (and equipment and everyoneâs salaries etc.) and she had to raise the ticket price significantly when people would go through insurance, because the insurance company would negotiate that price down, and then keep some of the money. (Obviously for us and many others it still worked out to be cheaper for us out of pocket to go through insurance, but the amount she made was roughly the same even though it would look like she charged thousands more for my breast reduction than for someone not using insurance)
So, when you get those bills from your insurance after a doctors visit, and thereâs that little table that tells you, this is the cost of the visit, this is the discount we got you, this is how much we paid, this is how much you still have to pay?
That line about âwe got you this discountâ is misleading. They actually caused the provider to raise the initial cost of your care by that amount, or more, in anticipation of the insurance company refusing to pay the full amount so that they could tell you they got you a discount.
"Why does a 15-minute visit with a doctor cost 150 bucks in America???" you're gonna want to read Money-Driven Medicine, by Maggie Mahar, and probably also The Social Transformation of American Medicine, to answer that question. It is not because your doctor is a greedy bastard; your doctor does not see most of that money. It is because the system is broken to a level that is truly impressive in its dedication to making a shit ton of money for insurance company executives and shareholders.
#my doctors visits are always around 3 or 400 for me because they never get billed as physicals because I also need prescriptions filled#and I need to go in 4x a year because adderall is so heavily restricted#and my last visit was actually $700 because they needed to drug test me not even for a real reason but because at the previous visit when#they drug tested me (also for bullshit reasons- to check that I was taking my meds instead of selling them or soemthing)#it came up with a false positive for opioids. which I donât have access to or interest in and would not have been in my system#(momâs nurse friend hypothesized that maybe the poppy seeds on the wverythign bagel I probably had for breakfast that morning set it off. it#seems like thatâs a pretty common food to have and they should either warn you ahead of time about that or it shouldnât be sensitive enough#to pick that up)#and insurance was like âwe got you a $195 discountâ which is bs and âwe paid $4â which is even stupider#so now at my next virtual visit Iâm gonna have to say hey I know the answer is no because of institutionalized stigma against me that youâre#not willing to push back on but I canât fuckingn afford to keep paying $1600+ a year for what at this point is a middle man between me and a#pharmacist because Iâve been on this medication for fucking ages and all my other ones could be refilled at a yearly physical#so is there any way we could change things up somehow. and sheâs going to say no. and Iâm going to be angry and upset about it for days#back when i was at my pediatrician I had to go in every six months which was annoying but I would happily go back to that over four times a#year#but idk if the rules changed or if the rules are different for adults or if my doctor just sucks bc I brought that up early on and she was#like no this is what we do#I mean. I can technically afford it. I have the money Iâm not going into medical debt or anything. I live at home with my parents and have#very low living expenses and my checking account is limited primarily by my own standards of how much Iâve decided I want to be putting into#my savings account each paycheck. but when the biggest expense in my life is something that already frustrates me and that I know is exp too#expensive and that I feel I shouldnât have to be doing anyway and I know Iâm being treated unfairly#it just feels so much worse. having to take money out of my savings account wouldnât be the end of the world. but it feels wrongs#and I only make like $36#lmao I forgot about the commas thing.#like $36k a year so I also am aware that even though Iâm in a lucky place where Iâm stable thatâs not *that* much money and I feel like that#is how I tend to think of things. because Iâm not going to live with my parents forever and Iâm deeply aware that for most people who have#to pay a rent or a mortgage $36k is the lower end of things and a seven fucking hundred dollar doctors bill is a big fuckingn deal#for a regular fucking doctors appointment#itâs not like I fucking asked to be drug tested they said âpay us to look at your pee or elseâ#itâs all bullshit

Gold Digger
Summary: Someone told your stepson you would be a gold digger.
Warnings: Age gap, fluff, kid being a little brat, not proof read, English is not my first language
Pairing: Older!Rafe x Younger!reader
You married Rafe when you were 21 while he was 31. Before you came into his life, he was already married once and had a six-year-old son.
It was a big step for you to be with someone who had his life all sorted out, but it didn't stop you from being with Rafe in the first place.
The two of you met a few years ago in a cute little Café where you worked to get some extra money. You lived in a small flat, trying your best to pay your bills.
Since you were Rafe Cameron's wife now, you never had to pay for anything anymore. Your husband always made sure to provide you with everything you needed.
You were on your way to pick up Lucas, Rafe's son, from school.
The little boy was as charming as Rafe and saw you as his mother. His biological mother left the moment Rafe decided to divorce and never thought about her son ever again.
You remembered the day Lucas turned four. It was his first birthday without his mother. He didn't stop crying, asking constantly about his mother and why she couldn't be here on his special day. Rafe tried his best to calm his son, but nothing worked.
That moment broke your heart, and after it, you made sure to provide Lucas with all the love you could give him. That was also something Rafe noticed, and unknowingly to you, it made him fall in love with you even more.
"Mommy!" Lucas shouted as he came running out of the school entrance.
One day after he came home from kindergarten, he started calling you 'mom' all of a sudden. You looked at Rafe, who seemed as surprised as you before he started grinning.
That memory will always have a special place in your heart.
"Hey, buddy, how was your day?" You asked, leaning down a little to hug him.
"I learned a new word today." He smiled proudly.
"Oh really ?" You asked, a little confused.
Lucas nodded, "My friend, Marc, told me."
Marc. Rafe and you didn't like that boy one a bit. He was quite good at manipulating and often responsible for all sorts of trouble.
"He said you are a golddigger." Lucas smiled at you.
You were aware of the fact of what the word meant, but it seemed like Lucas wasn't.
"Oh, and why am I a gold digger?" You asked him calmly.
"Because you always look so beautiful, like gold." He gave you a grin that looked similar to your husband's.
It was clear to you that the little boy had no clue about what the word actually meant. You let out a sigh, "Sweetie, a gold digger is someone who is in a relationship because of money. Do you think I am with your dad because of money?"
He quickly shook his head, "Marc said you are a gold digger, but he didn't explain why. I just thought he said it because he thought you are beautiful."
"Sometimes people will say things you don't understand, but it's important to ask about the meaning of the words," You told him, "Also, I want you to know that Marc maybe is not a real friend if he calls someone in your family a gold digger."
"I am sorry, mom." He apologized immediately and hugged you.
"Don't worry. I just want you to know that I am no gold digger. I love you and your dad a lot." You smiled brightly and took his hand to lead him to your car.
As you told Rafe later that night about the incident, he had enough of this Marc kid and made sure your son never had to deal with him again.

Dull Shine
Summary: The circumstances might have dulled the shine she had. Feeling empty even with his company.
Warnings: cursing.
Part Two
"What do you think about this?"
You turn your head away from your phone, looking at him up and down. "I like it, but maybe the black and white Jordan's?"
He nods, walking back into the closet and changing his shoes. You look at him while he does that.
It's like a routine for him, going back from training, quick visit to his mom or dad, going home to shower, and getting ready to go out.
He's been trying to spend as much as he can with his friends, Hakimi, Dembele and the team. They like to hit the club in a vip area, the other invite girls who look like the typical hooker.
You didn't worry about it, Kylian is not a cheater. He barely even acknowledged the girls. He likes to go there to be with the team.
"What about now?" He poses, showing you the fit and pulling his leg up your nightstand. "Do I look good?"
"Like a million dollar baby," you smile. Watching him get all cocky at the praise. "I feel like I should be worried. You're going out looking like this." You joke.
You walk over to him, smacking his ass in a playful way. He turns to you, smiling, wrapping his hands around your body.
"You know you're my only one." He kiss your neck. "If you want, you can come with me." He smiles into your skin. "Think about it," He says, kissing your neck again and pulling away to walk into the bathroom.
You are thinking about it, but you can't help but think of how the other girls go to those places. Dressed in the most expensive things, the best type of jewels, Cartier, Van Cleef, their expensive Louboutin or YSL heels.
You don't have that. You worked a nine to five job that didn't allow you to get the designer things.
You moved to Paris to study, wanting to get a better future for yourself. You were still paying some debt from your college.
Kylian begged you to move in with him a year into your relationship. You accepted only with the condition of him letting you help with some bills.
He obviously didn't allowed that. Letting you believe that you were going to help but in reality he was taking care of the two of you.
You never accepted his money. You loved your little job. It was not much, but it was enough for you.
You look into your things, finding a pair of cargos, and a backless bodysuit. You liked the combo, and you know he would too.
You weren't so sure about the shoes, you usually wear the outfit with some Jordan's to match him.
"I like that look." He says as you enter the bathroom, you smile, grabbing your makeup and lightly applying some.
"You look like a billion dollar baby, now." He says, kissing your cheek. "And what better way to match your look than with this."
He hands you a black box with a golden bow. You already know that there's something extravagant inside the box.
"Amour, we talked about this." You say, applying gloss. "What did we say?"
He rolls his eyes. "No gifts without consulting first."
"And what did you do?" You smile a little.
"Getting you something that my heart told me you would love." He left the box in the bed, walking over to you. "It will go amazing with your outfit, mon amour, s'il te plaĂźt."
You sigh, nodding your head. You walk over him, kissing his cheek and thanking him. "Let's see." You fake a smile.
What you can't help but feel bad is the way he smiles that he has. He loves giving you things.
You pull a black Saddle Bag from Dior. you love it, you were trying to save for this bag for some time, always having some sort of problem and needing to use the money.
"Come here." He pulls your arm, walking you to the tall mirror in the closet. He grabs the bag from your hands. Positioning it on your shoulder. "What do you think?"
You feel bad from how much you love the bag and the way it goes with your clothes. "Thank you." You smile, turning around to hug him and kiss him.
"Now what if you put your things inside and we go meet my friends?"
You nod, kissing him one last time. You grab your bag, moving your things. You look at yourself one last time before joining him in the living room.
You were his designated driver since he didn't have a license. He picked one of his less extravagant cars, not wanting to call the attention.
The first person you see is Achraf, he was talking with this pretty brunette. "Don't let him trick you, he's still married." Kylian jokes, knowing that will make Hakimi awkward.
"I'm not, don't believe him."
The girl only nods, laughing and kissing Kylian's cheek. "Bonjour to you too."
"Y/n, come here." Achraf stands up, hugging your figure. "This idiot finally convinced you to come, so amazing."
You smile, smelling the alcohol in his breath. "I finally left the crib." You laugh.
"Pamela, this is Y/n." He introduced the girl to you. "She's Kylian's girlfriend. She's so amazing, talk with her." He push your shoulder down, making you take a seat next to her.
You felt uncomfortable, the girl clearly didn't like that either. You turn to see kylian and Achraf talking with Marqhinhos and Vitinha.
One waiter gets close to them, Kylian turns to you. "Something you want to drink, bébé?" He kisses the top of your head.
"Whatever you're having." He nods, turning and leaving you again with the very judgy girl. "I like your nails." You say, trying to start some conversation.
She scuffed, turning to you. "Where's Emma?"
"Emma?" You ask confused. "As Kylian's ex-girlfriend Emma?"
She nods, looking you up and down. "Yeah, I miss her."
You didn't answer, getting up to go next to Kylian.
"Hey, you left my girl alone." Achraf says.
"Your girl's an asshole." You say to him, making Kylian laugh. "You really suck at picking, Haki."
The rest of the night was good. You didn't feel like leaving Kylian's side, and he didn't seem to mind.
Once you're home, you find yourself next to him in the bathroom, both preparing to sleep. "We should go out again. It was fun." You nod, finishing with washing your teeth.
You felt so out of place tonight. All these girls, all these drinks and other substances. You didn't feel like doing all that again.
You didn't belong to his world. You were used to parties back in college, but the type of being in your pj's and drink cheap alcohol from a cup.
You can't get used to the extremely overpriced drink he likes, the extremely overpriced restaurants, trips, clothes.
You turn to him. He was applying some cream, too concentrated to mind the way you're questioning yourself.
âšïžâšïžâšïž
"You have to be joking," Celine says. "That can't be real."
"I can't make this up. That freaking girl asked me where his ex was." You laugh, passing her another dress.
"Look at the bright side. She's just a one night stand, and you're the girlfriend."
You two share a good laugh. Celine is your boss, you started working for her in your second year living in Paris.
You loved her, and she loved you. That's why even when Kylian offered to find you something closer to where he lived, you said no.
She trusted you even when you barely understood French. She helped you and taught you a lot.
She has her own brand. It was very successful. She dressed so many french models and football wags. Like Antonella and Bruna.
She's not the type of designer to order and sit around her company. She loves her stores and mostly hangs around with you on the one you work.
"Well, at least you had fun."
"I don't know." You say honestly. "I feel so weird when I'm at these places."
"I used to feel the same, but it's all in your head. You do belong there, with him." You nod, smiling at her. "Now go. I got a fitting, and I'll close the store." You nod, saying your goodbyes.
You walk for a while, trying to de-stress. You text Ethan, sending him a pic of the cinema poster that's outside a mall.
You missed hanging with him now that he's more involved with football and practicing. But you were proud because he and Kylian were playing together.
When you get to Kylians house, you see Brice there. He was doing something with your boyfriends head.
"Getting Cinderella ready for the dance?" You joke, taking a seat in the coach next to where he's seated.
They laugh, explaining that the little trim was because of the party the club does for their foundation. They have an auction in order to raise money to help the foundation.
"You have your dress ready? Maybe I can get a tie to match you." He asks, looking at you.
You freeze, you forgot to think about a dress, even tho he told you about this a while ago. You even wrote in your notes to look at some dresses.
"Wait, when did you say was the party?" You ask, trying not to show your worries.
"In two days, mon amour."
You nod, excusing yourself to go upstairs. You can't help but panic, you did forget about getting a dress.
You see into your dresses, nothing is up for the occasion, nothing says exclusive party with extremely rich people.
You chat with your friend, asking her if you can borrow a dress from her. Sadly for you, her dresses were all short ones. And the party attire is long formal.
You search online for dresses, but all of them were way too expensive for your budget. You didn't want to ask Kylian for money.
Also, you didn't want to admit that you forgot about the party and that you didn't have anything to wear.
"I feel so dumb." You say to Celine. "I forgot about the party, and now I'll have to admit that I don't have a dress."
"Why don't you take one of the dresses we have?" She asks, confused.
You look at her, ironing some dresses. "As much as I love your dresses. I can't afford them."
"Aren't you dating the footballer who earns the most in Europe?"
You hate that reaction, Kylian wins his own money, but that wasn't yours to waste or to use.
"You say it. He's the one earning that money." You go back to ironing. "I think I'll just skip this. It's no big deal." You shrug.
She nods, walking over to the back. You can hear her opening something and moving things around. When she's back, she's holding a gorgeous orange and yellow dress
"I made this for a French singer. She never got to wear it. I think I can let you borrow it." She smiles.
You looked at the dress, it was beautiful, a classic figure and the colors were subtle, nothing crazy just beautiful.
"Are you sure?"
"Just keep the tags. They are there for reference of the model and size." She hands it over to you. "I think it will fit."
You smile, hugging her tightly. "I can't thank you enough for all you do for me."
She shakes her head no. "You can thank me by taking a picture with him and having him tag me."
You nod, smiling like crazy because now you can wear something pretty to the party. "I'll make him post a solo picture of me just to thank you." You laugh, hugging her again.
When you got off work, you asked Kylian if his chauffeur could pick you up. You weren't going to take public transportation with a borrowed dress.
"Bonjour madame." Kylian smiles, pulling his window down. "You asked for a ride."
"Did I?" You acted confused. "Well, I asked my boyfriend to pick me up, but since he's not here, can you give me a ride?"
He opens the door to get off the car. Closing the door and opening it again. "Ladies first." He says, a very deep tone to look more serious. "Careful with the head."
He joins you in the back of the car. Kissing your cheek as he lays his head on your shoulder. "Thank you for picking me up." You grab his hand and kiss it.

achrafhakimi where's the picture we took? đ
"Oh great, Achraf brought his side chick." Carol says, rolling her eyes at the sight of Pamela.
"So I'm not the only one who doesn't like her." Alessia laughs.
"No, this one right here also dislikes her." Caron elbow you, you scuff.
You turn your head to where Hakimi and Pamela are, they are chatting with Marquinhos and Donnarumma.
"She asked me if I could bring her some wine the other day at the barbecue Marcos organized. When I told her it was a self serve kinda thing, she told me nannies aren't supposed to bother the guests and just follow orders."
You and Alessia just laugh, that girl definitely had the nerve to think she was better than others.
"Talking about drinks, I'm going to get one more, you guys coming?" They shake their heads, lifting their half full drinks. "I'll be back."
You walk over to the bar, ordering a cocktail. You feel someone tap your shoulder.
"I like your dress." Pamela says, ordering a drink. You nod smiling. "So Haki and Kyky are friends."
You squint your eyes at the nicknames. "Yes, I noticed that." You sarcastically say. "Also, I think the whole city of France knows that."
"What I'm saying is, I'm here to stay." She gets closer. "And I don't want us fighting, our men's are friend. We can be too."
You turn your head at where Kylian is, even tho he's leaving the team. You know Achraf is a very important person in his life.
"I like your dress too."
"Thank you, it's Versace." She smiles. "Where's yours from?"
"Celine."
"Oh, I didn't knew they did discounts."
You choke on your drink. The audacity of her to say that with the biggest smile like it's nothing.
"They don't."
"Well, Haki told me you work in retail, very Georgina of you." She scuffed. "And let's be honest, unless Kylian bought that for you or they gifted you the dress, I don't think your nine to five allows you to get expensive brands, with the way you dress regularly."
You stare at her, wanting to wipe that stupid grind off her face with a slap.
"Emma used to buy that brand all the time, I get you want to he like her, just don't make it that obvious." She laughs.
You smile. You weren't going to make a scene there like she hoped for. "Well, if you care to know that much, Celine herself gave me this dress to wear tonight. She's a good friend."
"Yeah, sure." She turns back to the bar.
You grab your drink, not wanting to spend more time with her. Just before you left, you got closer to her.
"Talking about copycats, maybe look in the mirror because Hiba's whole wardrobe was Versace. But not from the rack like yours, she knew Donatella."
You don't even walk back with the other wags, you walk into the bathroom trying to calm your anger.
Why did she think that because you have a regular job you were less. Yes, you couldn't afford a dress like the one you're wearing and maybe you couldn't do all the things Kylian does for you. But you were happy with your job, you liked being down to earth.
You wipe the tears that your anger made you let out. Not wanting for all the girls or even her to look at you like that, you walk out, trying to get some air.
After some time of not seeing you, Kylian asked Alessa where you were. She answered with a shoulder shrug.
You walked back into the venue at the right time. He walks faster to you. "Amour, where were you?" He kiss your cheek.
"I was taking air, needed it." You half smile. "Maybe I'll ask the chauffeur to take me to your house. I'm tired."
If there's something he used to do, it was reading you like an open book. You missed that. The way he would tell something was wrong before you even did.
"I'll just wait a little more because of the club bosses." He kiss you quickly. "I'll ask my bodyguard to accompany you to the car."
You nod, walking quickly to the table to say goodbye to your friends. Saying the same excuse. You're tired, but not physically, you are tired mentally.
From all the pressure you put yourself into. Even when you want to try, you can't do it. You don't feel like you belong to his world.
You change into your pajamas, as you wash your face and do your routine. You can't help but feel anger at the words of Pamela.
You looked at the dress before turning the closet light off. She was right. You couldn't afford it. You were playing Cinderella with it.

"Are you sure you don't want me to pay for the dry cleaning?" You ask again. "It's the least I can do, just let me-"
"Honey, since you wore that dress, my lines are going crazy for the same style in different colors." She smiles, taking the dress from your hands. "Actually, when did you say was the ballon d'or?" She laughs
"Not until a few months." You laugh with her.
"I think it's enough time to design something just for you. But that would be me as a brand, this was me as a friend."
You thank her again, turns out wearing her dress made not only the signer but other models want the dress.
You felt special when she told you that, asking you to help her with the online orders, even when she had a team she trusted you with her life.
"I'll see you tomorrow. Coffee is on me, by the way."
"Hey. Take tomorrow off, I think you deserve it after how hard you work."
You nod, saying your goodbyes and leaving the store. You got to your favorite coffee shop, getting yourself a treat.
Kylian asked you to pick up his mother's birthday gift, giving you his card and telling you to go crazy if you wanted.
"I called the bank and told them Ma femme is going crazy with the plastic." he says before leaving to practice. "If it's something like a bag, she wants it in blue."
You tried to find something blue because that's what she asked. You know she likes jewelry too. Maybe both can be nice.
You text Kylian a picture of the options you have. He was in a meeting with Luis Enrique, and they were creating a plan for the UCL game.
You walk out of the store with the bag for Fayza, moving to Cartier to get her some jewelry, maybe a necklace.
You get a pair of earrings and a necklace to match. You know she will like it, you and her have similar taste in clothes, bags and jewelry.
Kylian texted you to get him a bucket hat from Louis Vuitton. He wanted one for a long time, and now that you're out and about.
You picked two for him, a black one and a white one. You text asking if that will be all or if he would like something else.
You check the store, finding a cute Alma Nano bag that in your eyes was so cute, You think about what he says, you can spend as much as you want on his mom gift and if you want something you can pick anything.
You text Kylian a picture asking if he likes the bag. You were questioning if you should or not.
"Madame, I'll go get the hat you requested. I'll be right back." the sales girl says to you. "You can wait on the couch, or you can keep looking around."
You nod, looking around the store for something else. Eyes going back to the bag.
"Oh God, you're here." You hear someone saying. "If you're filling applications, I need a maid." Pamela laughs.
Her hands were full of designer brands. You smirk when you see the Versace one. "Trying to fill Hibas side of the closet, I see."
She rolls her eyes. The knife digging hard on her with all the ex-wife jokes. You enjoy the way her face turns kinda red.
She was about to say something. The sales girl interrupts her. "Madame, I have the items upfront per your request."
"Merci, I'll be right there." You pass Pamela, ignoring her for the sake of your evening. "Can I add this bag to my bill, please."
You pay for the things, getting out of the store without paying mind to Pamela. You didn't need her to ruin your mood.
The chauffeur was waiting for you, Kylian texted you to go pick him up after picking you up.
"Hello, sunshine." You smile as he opens the door of his car. "Long time no see, Mister Mbappe."
"Like what?" He asks, following your joke. "It's been like five years, isn't it?"
"So long, Paris." You dramatically say. "I got you your hat, two actually."
He kiss you hello, seeing the bags in the front seat. "Perfect, I can look fancy at the beach."
You two chat about his day during the way home. Kylian was excited about the ucl game and you loved that for him.
You two walk with the bags, well, he did. You carry his toiletry bag. "So you want to make something for dinner together?" You ask, leaving his things at the entrance of the house.
He nods, searching for a tutorial on something he's been wanting to do for a long time. You collect the ingredients, helping him with the preparation.
"Tomorrow we are invited to Hakimi's sister birthday party." He says, opening the oven and leaving the food there. "It's going to be at Hakimi's."
You think about the whole Pamela situation. You know you want to tell Kylian about it, but you're not sure if you want to ruin his mood today or ruin the whole invitation thing.
You think about it while you finish with the salad. You hate confrontation and you hate creating an opportunity for her to bother you some more.
"Ready, bébé." He says, placing the dinner on the table. "Let's eat and I'll tell you about my day" He says, kissing your neck.
He serves you two. You bring some water for him and a soda for you. Needing some sugar to sweeten your day.
Kylian talks about his day training and how he will shoot a new commercial for Oakley, the glasses brand that he models for.
"And I asked them for a pair of glasses for you. So you'll be the first one to try the new collection."
"Woow." You laugh. "Since we have connections, we are getting free sun glasses."
You finish dinner between jokes and talking about what to buy for Hakimi's sister.
You have to talk to him. You tell yourself that again, and again, and again. You don't want to look like the bitter friend of the ex who doesn't approve the new girl.
You move to your room, fixing the washed clothes into their designated spot in the closet. He was in the bathroom, applying his night skincare like you taught him.
"Hey, can I talk to you about something?' You ask loudly.
"Oui, bébé." He shouts back.
You keep putting the clothes in the racks. "I know this might sound weird, but I don't like Pamela." You began. "She's just so mean and such a freaking brat around me. Thinking she can diminish me because of my job and shit. I don't feel like putting the nice act with her anymore."
You let everything out, feeling more relieved now that it was out and you didn't have to tip toe around her in front of kylian.
You wait for his response. Silence is taking over the room. You can hear a sound of voices in the background.
You move to the bathroom, finding him with his phone in his hand, watching a video about a show or something like that.
"Did you even pay attention to what I said?" You ask mad.
He looks at you, pausing the video. "Pardon, oursamme sent me this video. It's so funny. Here, watch it."
You shake your head no. Walking back into the closet. You're mad at how you can hear him talk about everything, but he can't even hear you for two minutes.
You finish what you are doing. Walking into the room and finding him still watching his video. You roll your eyes and walk into the bathroom to take a nice shower.
You can't help going to bed mad at him. You felt trapped, he didn't pay attention to you, and you only want to be able to say things that you feel.
The next day, you didn't even say goodbye to him when he left, he was too busy with his phone to notice, only saying a quick goodbye and patting your head.
You spend the rest of the day in a mood. Not really caring about anything but being angry at how much he diminish your feelings and focus on something dumb.
The night approaches, you want to send him alone to the party, but Hakimi's sister was always friendly with you. And she came to your birthday last year with a nice gift.
You dress simple, a one-piece full bodysuit you like, since it was chilly you picked a jacket and your black and white dunks.
You fixed your hair and did your makeup. Something natural since you knew everybody there and everybody knew you with and without makeup at this point.
Kylian was sitting on the couch, waiting for you to be done. He was now aware of your mood. When he came home you just rolled your eyes and refused to heard about his day.
"Ready?" He asks.
You nod, grabbing the gift you got and grabbing the house keys. "Which car?" You ask, very dryly.
Kylian hates when he knows he fucked up but doesn't know at the same time. He can't piece what he did to make you mad.
"The chauffeur is waiting for us." He says, low tone. His hand find the small of your back. You move, not wanting to have his hands on you.
The whole trip was like that. He's thankful Achraf's house is relatively close to his own. Because he can't stand the silent treatment you're pulling on him.
"Hello" You smile, hugging Hakimi's sister as you enter the home. "Happy birthday, you look so beautiful."
You make some small talk, Kylian watching you. His sight is burning your skin. You can tell he's observing, he's like a hawk watching his prey.
"Happy birthday." He says, hugging his friend's sister.
You stayed with her, walking into the home and saying a quick hello to the other people. The list of invitations was mostly known faces.
"Thank God you're here. I can't stand being alone with that woman any more." She whispers, head pointing towards Pamela.
You roll your eyes. "I can't stand her either, she's a narcissist with pretty hair." You joke to get some frustration out.
The subject changes, you were talking about life, about updates on different topics you discussed in the past.
"Excuse me just a moment, I'll go check if the food is ready." Hakimi's sister says, walking to the kitchen.
You take the opportunity to go to the bathroom. Going quickly and checking your makeup. You apply a little more lip balm and go out.
"Well, well, well. Cinderella's here."
You sigh, not wanting to engage in the conversation you pass over Pamela, who quickly grabbed your arm.
"Didn't your parents teach you that it was rude not answering when you're being talked to or taught you basic manners?"
You lift an eyebrow, asking back. "Didn't your parents teach you how to respect others?"
She wanted to answer, trying to dig the knife she's been planting on your chest, but you're quick.
"And didn't you know that even with that prude face you're just a stuck up little bitch who thinks is better than anyone else but in reality, you're just an insecure piece of crap?" You whisper close to her, looking her up and down. "Look at you, hiding under all that. Your parents must hate you, having such a hypocrite for a daughter. Being such an ugly person on the inside must feel bad. So don't worry, I get what you're doing. It's not about my job or my clothes. It's that you feel inferior even with all that gold on you."
You walk back to the living room, leaving her there alone. You feel nice. Letting all that out was refreshing.
You went on with your night, some of the wives came to the party, leaving you with a nice circle and not only the birthday girl and you.
"Why is Hakimi looking at you like that?" Alessia asks, making you turn your back to where they are.
Hakimi was looking at you in a weird way. Talking to Kylian while doing it. He turned his head to find you.
"Don't know, maybe his gold digger told him something about me." You shrug, not minding it.
The night was good for you. You walk into the house happy and relaxed. Kylian was silent. You thought it was because of the silent treatment and decided to stop it.
"Hey, what if we see that movie you told me about?" You were finishing your night routine. He enters the bathroom, his eyes fixed on your reflection. "You okay?"
He sighs, not feeling like fighting. "I know what happened with Pamela." He confess.
You lock eyes with him in the mirror, his rough energy making it obvious that he was mad about the situation that happened at his friends house.
"You do?" You ask, making him nod. "Well, about time. She's crazy if she thinks she can get close to me again. What a loser."
He chuckled, shaking his head no. "Are you serious?"
You turn to him, confused about what he knows and how he knows it. "What?"
"You insulted Pamela." He says, his tone is so serious you feel like your parents are scolding you.
"What?" You repeat. "Are you serious right now?"
"Look, I know you didn't like her the night Achraf introduced you to her, but leaving her alone is one thing and belittled her about how Hakimi is just using her to forget his ex and how she's just replaceable is wrong."
You stayed quiet, not believing his words. How is it that you two are discussing the interaction her and you had in so different ways?
"I never say that"
"Well, she left saying you say that."
"Oh, so you believe her over me?" You ask offended.
"Non, but why would she lie? She even left telling Hakimi that she needs to think about their relationship because of what his best friend girlfriend thinks."
You laugh. "Is this a joke?" You ask, turning again and closing your creams. "Because if it is, it's a good one. Stop playing."
He's not laughing, he's quiet as a tomb. "I'm not laughing, am I?"
"Kylian, that never happened. How convenient it is that you get to believe her when a night ago I told you how she belittled me in every way she can."
"You never say that."
You turn back at him, mad at him. "I did."
"You didn't."
"I did, but you, asshole, were paying attention to that stupid video Ousmane sent you." You threw your hand towel at him. "I told you how I felt, but you chose to ignore me, and here we are."
"I don't recall that."
"How convenient." You exit the bathroom, grabbing your pillow and blanket. "You prefer to call me a liar and believe that I would do something like that than talking to me and getting my side."
"Where are you going?" He asks, joining you in the bedroom. "Don't be ridiculous, leave that there."
"No, Kylian, you can sleep alone tonight. I have a feeling that maybe you don't want to sleep with someone who belittles people the way I do and who treats people the way I do. Because it's how I am, of course, even after years of dating, you would think that and take someone else's side."
You walk out of the room, pillow in one hand, and blanket in the other. You enter the guest room that was near your room.
"And don't bother trying to get my story, I'm sure with her side, you have enough to make your own mind." You yell at the door frame. He's stood in front of your bedroom door. "Oh, and I know for a fact Pamela is not going to be the only one thinking about her relationship because I certainly am too."
You slam the door as hard as you can. Locking it . Not even ten seconds later he's shaking the doorknob, asking you to open the door.
"I'm not going to open the door. You chose her, Kylian." You yell again. "You chose to believe her over me." You say lower, crying about the whole situation. "I'm your girlfriend, and you chose her."
The overwhelming feeling of anger and guilt is making you cry, you don't even know why you feel guilty about what you say.
Kylian gave up after twenty minutes. You weren't going to open the door. The way your cries can be heard from outside the door is killing him.
He thinks about what you say, but he can't remember if you told him or not about how Pamela was treating you.
He remembers that you ask him to talk about something, but his stupid self didn't pay attention to the things you told him.
He couldn't sleep. He can't even rest because every time he closes his eyes, he can hear your cries. Even when you're sleep in the bed.
He needed to apologize. He texts Achraf, explaining that Pamela has been bothering you and you just responded back to her.
Hakimi knew you. He had never seen you disrespect anyone. You're friendly and kind to everyone, so maybe you're not lying here.
You woke up extra early, and he had a deep sleep, so when you got to the room and took your clothes and basic things to get ready, he didn't even feel it.
Your eyes were swollen from all the crying. You tried your best to cover your exhaustion with concealer.
The sad eyes you have are impossible to cover. That's why people say the eyes are the windows to the heart. Because you can lie all you want, but your eyes will tell the words your mouth can't.
"Bad night?" Celine asks, handing you a coffee. "It's a double, thought you might need it."
You gave her a half smile. Not wanting to say anything about the topic. She understood, not wanting to push your boundaries.
"Any plans for this weekend?" She asks. Trying to get you to talk and not look like a sad puppy.
"Kylian has an important reunion with his new coach. He invited only five of them with a plus one." You say, remembering the reunion he told you about during dinner on the weekend. "But I'm not sure if I want to attend."
"Why?"
"First, because I'm mad at him." You began telling, making Celine surprised about the first point in your list. "Second, some of these players I don't even know about. I've seen them, but never even talk with them." You exhale, already uncomfortable.
"And third?"
"I don't have anything for the occasion, I feel like my closet is a second-hand craziness that makes stupid bratty models think I'm not enough to be in their presence." You throw the pencil in your hand on the counter.
Celine listen closely to your words. "You are more than welcome to take any of the clothes from the store, you know that."
"And I'm grateful for that. Thank you so much for offering me to take something from here on a loan." You say with honesty. "I just feel like I'm playing dress up with your charity." You feel your eyes tear up. "Celine, I can't afford any of the clothes you design, and somehow, I'm posting on social media about me wearing them, like if I'm not five euros away from breaking the bank."
You can't help the sobs, walking to the bathroom to hide. You feel embarrassed, with your boss, with your life and with your social status.
You were done with people diminish you because you were a retail worker. People calling you a gold digger because you date Kylian.
You're done with pretending to be someone you are not just to be able to fit with the people he's around.
He can afford hundreds of thousands of dollars in clothes, in shoes, in hats or watches. You can afford some pieces from boutiques at the mall when you got a bonus or when you have a special occasion.
You live in a house he paid with a month of working. House you could never afford in this lifetimes or the next five.
You were basically living out of him, and still not even close to making ends meet because the neighborhood stores were five times more expensive that the ones downtown, because just in transportation to where his house is you spend half your income.
You were leaving a life that was not for you. Everybody around him knew that. It was just about time for him to figure that you were just a bump on his way.
You gather composure, thankful for your waterproof mascara. You walk back upfront, meeting a very concerned Celine.
"I'm fine, I don't want to talk about it." You say. Helping her with some things at the store.
You remained quiet for the rest of the day, feeling embarrassed. You missed your family, you missed your friends.
You feel alone. That was an issue.
You have Kylian's family. You have the wags who were your friends. You have Celine. But at the same time, you didn't.
You can't go over to his family to talk about things he does or to get advice because that's not correct in your eyes.
You can take advice when it's asked, but you are not going to rant about your issues with him like you would with your best friend.
You won't rant about the problems of being in the public eye and how people like Pamela treat you with disrespect. But they know about it. Some of them got the same comments, maybe not directly to their faces but on social media every day.
You need your family and friends.
Moving out to a different country with no one to relate to, with no one to talk to about the struggles of barely know the language.
"I'm going home. Do you need me to help you with something else before I leave?"
"No, it's okay." She smiles. Kissing you cheek goodbye. You nod, grabbing your things, giving her the report of the day like always. "Hey, Y/n."
You turn back to her. "Yes, ma'am?"
She hands you a bag. "Open it at home. It's something I forgot to give you." She smiles.
You nod, saying your goodbyes to her and telling her that you will text her when you are home.
You feel a headache, entering home and walking to the kitchen to get a glass of water. You find Kylian eating and sitting on the counter.
You don't like not talking to him. You want to hug him and cry in his arms. You want him to tell you that everything will be fine and that you are okay and safe.
He has earbuds on, not noticing your presence. You open the fridge and grab the water. Passing next to him and touching his arm.
He jumps a little, quickly taking his earbuds off to pay all the attention to you. "You're home."
You nod, drinking a whole glass of water. "Yes, you're early." You say, serving a glass for him. "What you got there?"
He thanked you, sipping some water. "It's a sandwich. Want a piece?" He placed the sandwich back in the plate and slid it to you.
You took a bite out of the sandwich. It tasted weird from all the ingredients he put inside of it. "It's an interesting flavor. But I think I'm not that hungry."
He finished the sandwich. You took a seat next to him on the counter, a glass of water in hand. "How was your day?" He asks.
"Good, same as always."
He nods, not sure how to approach the situation. He feels horrible about everything. "Can I be honest with you?" He asks.
"Always." You smile, reassuring him.
"I don't know what got into me, I should have listened to you instead of watching that stupid video. And I'm mostly sorry for making you cry and feel like you are something that you are not."
You want to speak, but you let him finish his rambling apology. Knowing he's being honest, this was his way of saying sorry, rambling about the thing he's sorry for, and then getting to a point.
"I know Pamela is someone I know before we even met, but that doesn't mean she's allowed to tell you things or make you feel a certain way. And I won't tolerate that happening to you. I know you and your character. I'm sorry about last night and any other night in the past, I'm sorry if I ever made you feel like you don't matter, you do, to me you are the most important person."
You feel your eyes getting teary. You needed those words more than anything. You needed the reassure he's giving you. You needed him.
"Can I give you a hug?" He asks, getting down.
You open your arms, letting him get into your embrace. "Je t'aime." You kiss his neck.
The hug lasted for what felt like hours. That was what you both needed. Specially you.
"Want to go upstairs and take a well-deserved bath?" He asks, kissing your head. "I can even get some strawberries to eat with the chocolate you like." You nod, kissing his lips.
âšïžâšïžâšïž
You didn't work on weekends, mostly because since you weren't just a regular worker at the store, you were upgraded to a little privilege of having you weekends off.
You spend the day organizing some papers you left unattended for a while now. You moved some books that you planned to donate to some students that needed them.
You still needed to find a dress for the activity that was taking place tonight. Ready to go back to Celine and see if she can help you pick something.
You promise her that you will always come to her for anything if you ever needed help. And as much as you feel like you're abusing your privilege, she will likely not let you pay for anything you pick even if you could.
You finish your organization and change into something more presentable to go out with. Asking Kylian's chauffeur to take you to the store.
"Bonjour, mon ange." Celine greets you when she seed you walk in. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm good, I'm sorry about that scene. I was just not in a right place that day." You hug her hello.
"It's okay. We all have those days." She laughs. "I know I'm a little lost when it comes to dates and days, but I know for a fact that today you are not working." She hums.
"I'm not, but I have an event, and I want to get something pretty. Maybe you can help me?"
You bat your eyelashes at her. Making her laugh and hug you by the shoulders. "I have the perfect dress for you."
She showed you some dresses, most of them way too formal for the event. But then you see this beautiful short long sleeve black sequin dress.
"It's perfect." You say. "Can I try it on?"
She nods, "Show me how it fits."
You try it. It fits like a glove, it's the perfect length, the perfect material, everything. "What do you think?"
"Fits like a glove." She smiles, making a sign for you to spin. "Parfait" she happily says.
You change quickly. Wanting to run home and get ready for the night. You pass the dress to her as you finish putting your shoes back on.
"So, here's that dress for you." She hands you the brand bag.
"Will you let me ever pay you?"
"I dont think so. But I think I have an idea. If you want, you can return it on monday or keep it." She smiles.
"I'll bring it back, I promise you that one day I'll be able to pay you back everything you do for me."
She hugged you goodbye. Wishing you a great night. You went back straight to the house. Excited about getting ready.
You took your time, getting your hair and a very natural makeup. Kylian got back home in the middle of your routine.
He got ready with you. He was wearing something between formal and not so formal. Nothing too serious, but nothing casual.
"Can you zip me up?" You ask.
He looks at you up and down. Your back greeting him. He runs a finger down your spine, making you arch from the sensation.
"Amour, no." You chuckle.
He kisses your shoulder, moves to your neck, and finishes with your other shoulder. "I love how you look." He whispers in your ear as he zips the dress.
You turn, kissing him and thanking him. "Ready, Mister?"
"Ready, amour." He smiles.
You two arrive at the house of Luis Enrique, his wife and daughter were there with him. He invited Zaire-Emery, Zague, Lee Kang, Vitinha and Kylian.
They came with their plus one, some of them brought their girlfriends and some of them brought their agents.
Kylian sat next to you, on the other side of him was Lee and on the other side of you was Zague.
Lee was with his agent. "You are Kylian's agent?" He asks. His English sounded so adorable since he's not used to it yet.
"I-" You were going to answer, but kylian interrupted.
"She's my girlfriend, Y/n this is Lee, Lee this is Y/n."
"Oh, nice to meet you, you are so pretty. Kylian always talks about you." He shakes your hand.
"Thank yo-"
"Hey Lee, did you saw that we are going to change the training schedule?"
You decided to remain quiet, Kylian was nervous, and that shows, he's very talkative with everything.
They keep talking about different topics. Luis Enrique and his wife were making sure everyone was comfortable.
"Can you pass the salt?" Zague asks. "I'm Zague, by the way, sorry." He laughs.
"Here that salt." You laugh too. "And I'm Y/n. Kylian's girlfriend." You shake his hands the same way with Lee.
"Nice to meet you. This guy always talks about you." He smile. "Are you from Paris? You don't sound french."
"No, I'm actually from -"
"Zague, Lee wants to tell Luis about that day you fell into the pool." Kylian laughs.
"Do it." He chuckle. "Sorry, I didn't get to hear your answer."
You were interrupted again by Kylian. Feeling a little off about it. Zague notices your face falling from the cut in your words.
Not that you were complaining, but kylian interrupted every single interaction you had with everyone. You feel dumb, people asked you things, and you were cut off almost every time.
The dinner was good. You got to sit in front of Luis's daughter, Sira. She was a cute girl and very talkative too.
"Horse riding? that's so cool." You smile at her.
"Yes, I love doing it."
"She's amazing. You should come to one of the competitions they do here in France. It's an experience." Luis says.
"She's afraid of horses." Kylian joined the conversation.
"I'm not." You laugh, thinking he's maybe joking. "I actually think horses are cute and powerful."
"Didn't you once fall off of one?" He asks.
Luis and Sira look at each other, confused about why kylian was bringing that up. "I've fallen a good amount of times. It's pretty normal."
"Yes, and believe me. At first, horses can be scary." Luis says. "Kylian, another glass of wine?"
"Yes, let me serve this one."
Kylian took the bottle, moving his arm a little faster and by mistake throwing your glass all over you.
You feel the cold drink hitting you, moving the chair back quickly, trying to save the parts where it didn't hit yet.
"Oh my God." Sira says, getting up and grabbing a napkin. "It's okay, I think my mom has a cleaning product."
"Let's not worry, your dress is black and I think it'll be safe." Kylian says, tapping his napkin on your legs where the wine hit.
You want to say something, but you are too mad at him to even say something. Being afraid that you will lash out in front of everybody.
"Wait, you have your tags on. Let me take those." Kylian tear off the tags. Making you let out an angry but small growl.
You close your eyes and inhale. "Luis, can I please use your bathroom?" You ask nicely, smiling to hide your emotions. "It's okay, it was an honest mistake. Please do take that glass of wine. I'm just going to dry myself, and we can keep talking."
Sira walked you to the bathroom. She even gave you some wipes and a towel to help with the situation.
"If you need anything else, I'll be over here at the rooms. Second door to the left." She smiles, leaving you alone at the bathroom.
You want to cry, you feel weird, you're dirty and sticky from all the wine you have on you. And kylian pulling the interrupting act was stressful.
You clean the wine off your legs and arms, and you fix your dress that was still wet, and you throw the used wipes and paper at the trash can.
Three knocks made you open the door. Kylian was standing there. "Hey, you okay?"
You roll your eyes, stepping outside. "Can we go home? I don't feel well, am sticky and uncomfortable." You whine.
"Yes, I'll go get your bag, wait for me outside." He says, hurrying to get your things.
He excuses you with everybody. Saying goodbye and thanking Luis for the dinner. They all understood and told him to tell you goodbye.
The drive home you were silent, trying to calm your anger at him. You don't want to yell. You don't want to fight. You just want a shower and a good night sleep.
You enter the house and take your shoes off. Leaving them by the door. You try to unzip your dress, but you can't reach the zipper.
You feel his cold hands, undoing your zipper. "I'm really sorry." He apologizes. Hands massaging your shoulders.
You put your hands in your chest to hold the dress. "Please don't touch me." You walk one step forward. "I'm taking a shower."
He sighs. "It's was an honest mistake, Y/n."
You stop your steps. Turning and walking down two steps. "Was you interrupting on everything I said also unintentional?" You ask, stern tone.
He shakes his head no. Moving upstairs to be at the same height as you. "I said I'm sorry, let's get ready for bed and call it a night."
"A tasteless sorry is supposed to make it up for me?" You walk the rest of the steps. He was already on the second floor. Walking towards the room. "I'm talking to you. Stop ignoring me."
He pulls the silent treatment card, going to the closet to change into his night clothes. You slam the bathroom door, angry at him.
You left the dress on the floor. Feeling nervous about ruining the dress Celine let you borrow.
You shower, taking that hideous feeling. Trying to calm down to be able to face what's outside the bathroom.
He's ignoring you. Under the covers with his phone. Back turned to you. You close the closet door. Not sure if you want him to address anything.
You try not to cry, you have been feeling ignored, you have been feeling bad bout different aspects of your life, and all because of him.
You let yourself get humiliated for the sake of not creating any drama that can get used against him.
You have been a good girlfriend. You're not a bad person. You won't categorize yourself as someone who deserves bad things because you never do bad things to others.
You grab your small suitcase. You pack some basics. You walk into the bathroom with a toiletry bag. Grabbing your most necessary products and things. You walk back into the closet. You finish packing.
You don't move the suitcase just yet. You get down to where your purse is. Walking back upstairs and locking yourself in.
You open the browser. Searching for a flight home, finding one in three hours. You book it.
Texting your friend and telling her that you will be home at the time the ticket says it's landing, she asks you if you are okay and you just say you'll talk once you are there.
You don't move for a few minutes, you tear about the fact that you will leave Kylian alone. That you will have to tell him that you will leave to be able to rest your mind.
You gather courage, order an Uber. Opening the door. He's now watching something on the tv. "Kylian, we need to talk."
"I don't want to fight. Let's talk tomorrow."
"I won't be here tomorrow." You say, your voice is shaking.
He turns, you're with tears rolling down your face, suitcase in hand. "Amour, what are you doing?" he throws the sheets quickly.
He walks over to you, trying to grab you. But you back off. Lifting your hand and making him stop.
"Kylian, I need time. I can't keep going with my days like this. It's not just about tonight. It's the whole Pamela situation. It's just too much." You cry.
"You don't need to leave. I'll go. But please stay here. Mon Amour, please."
"I have my ticket already booked. I'm going home. " You whisper. "I'm not breaking up with you. I just need time. I can't keep going like this."
"This is our home." he whines, not being able to get your reasoning.
"No, this is your house. Those are your friends, this is your country."
You walk past him. Feeling your heart break. You hurry to the strairs. The suitcase is not cooperating with you, wanting to go quickly.
He grabs the suitcase, making you turn to face him. "When are you coming back?" he asks, tears in his eyes. "Because you will be back, aren't you?"
You nod, sobbing. "I'll be back in two weeks"
He then gets your suitcase down the stairs. When you are at the bottom, you throw yourself on his arms.
"I'm sorry, Kylian." You cry. "But please understand that I need to do this. I need to get all this out of my head. I feel so unworthy. I feel so out of place that I don't fit in your world."
"Stop, you do. You are so worthy to me and to everyone around us who loves you and cares about you." he hugs you.
"I'll be back." You pull away. "My Uber is here." You say seeing the notification of the driver. "Je tâaime"
He kisses you. He dries your tears with his shirt. "Text me when you get there. You have the card I gave you? If you need anything please use it."
You nod, kissing his lips. You pull and walk outside. Once you are about to get into the car, you turn to see him standing there. You wave and close the car door.

The wooden frame of the bed slammed viciously into the thin walls of the motel bedroom, the withered coat of eggshell white chipping away with the ruthless collision, likely cracking the wood as well. The hellish creaking burned into your ears, scratching at the back of your brain and preventing any chance of relaxing in the moment. Youâd had a shitty day, and the fact that this wasnât even the worst of it was almost sad.
Work was exhausting, stupid old men yelling at you all day that you couldnât do your job and the lead physician not doing a thing to stop them. Not to mention that you were in charge of most of the side work all day, replacing the instruments and utensils, emptying trash bins, cleaning out inpatient rooms, none of which was given to any of the newer technicians. You were good at what you did. You studied hard in school, you perfected all of your residency, you had astounding references. Your only flaw? Your gender. You were one of the only females in your department - hell - in the entire building. Most either quit or moved to different hospitals, entirely due to the terrible environment. None of your peers or superiors or inferiors respected you. You were always stuck with the dirty, side work while the others got to do what your job actually entailed, and the rare occurrences when you did get the opportunity to work with patients, they were always abusive to you. It was hell.
But what other choice did you have?
All the other openings at other hospitals were either filled or about to be. No other fields or retail jobs made enough pay. You didnât have near enough money or grounds to seek out legal help. You were stuck. You were desperate for money. You were out of options.
You had family to take care of - two brothers, a sister, your mother. Dad died years ago in a car accident. Mom was already working overtime with two jobs, barely making ends meet. Rent, insurance, taxes, student loans, car payments, groceries, clothing, hospital bills, schooling, existing. It all cost money. So much money. It felt like you were suffocating. You were out of options.
Finally the creaking stopped. You back was already sore beyond belief and your legs numb. Your knees were probably bruised, too. Damn, you could go for some marble cheesecake right now. Your nose scrunched as you smelt the familiar scent of cigarette smoke, you lungs burning from the second hand nicotine.
âHere.â
A wad of cash fell across your back, the paper crunchy and bent. You groaned as you rose up, stretching your back out and hissing at how tight you were. How much was ibuprofen again?
You flicked through the money, your brow furrowing when you shuffled across the last layer.
âThis isnât enough,â you countered.
The end of his cigarette burned gold. He stood in front of the window, brushing away the curtain to peer outside as he took a drawl. He was still naked and didnât seem in a rush to dress himself.
âItâd be more if ya didnât make me wear a condom.â
You scowled but kept silent, fidgeting at the sides of your panties where he tied the damn things. The latex was knotted tight with each used rubber, five in total today. Itâd be easier to just throw the whole pair away.
He took another hit.
âWonât make our date on Saturday,â he mumbled, âgot plans.â
You were already redressing yourself, desperate to get out of there and get going. Shower. Eat. Jerk off. Go to sleep. There were only so many hours in a day and you still had work in the morning.
You sighed, âYeah, yeah, whatever.â
He chuckled softly to himself. âHowâs work.â
âBye, Toji.â
The store wasnât all that crowded surprisingly. It was Thursday afternoon, but people tended to not follow norms around here when it came to scheduling. They were out of marble cheesecake so you had to get turtle. It was too sweet in your opinion.
Everyone was asleep when you got home, but you were grateful for the privacy. Mom was still at work.
You locked your door and ruffled through your bottom drawer, fetching out your vibrator. The fan in your room was loud so nobody could hear it anyway. God, you were tired.
You never thought of anything particular when you were trying to get off, it honestly depended on the day. Sometimes you thought about getting eaten out slowly by a fireplace. Sometimes you thought about getting dicked down in a dark alley. No matter the scenario, there was only one similarity. You never imagined anyone in particular. You couldnât put a face to the man. He was big, muscular, strong. You felt safe yet thrilled underneath him. But you couldnât see him, if that made any sense.
Your sex drive had always been high. Ever since puberty you were antsy and pent up, yet you couldnât bring yourself to date. Your first boyfriend was overwhelmed with how needy you were, and the moment you sensed his rejection, your attraction to him plummeted. You needed to feel secure before you felt horny. Were you demisexual? Maybe. You werenât sure and hardly had time to find yourself.
You tried to find another partner again in your third year of college. There was a party at a local bar, and your friends hyped you up to go. You were both drunk, him more than you. He had whiskey dick. You didnât feel comfortable. You left relatively quickly after calling him an uber. Failed again.
You didnât try again after that.
You were fine keeping to yourself. You had your own assortment of toys awaiting you in your room. And work only solidified your hatred of the male species. You likely wouldâve remained celibate forever if you hadnât run into Toji.
You had just gotten off work, walking through the subway to catch the next train. Your engine was busted so your car was in the shop. Not many people were around, and the ones that were left after a while since it was taking too long. But you were too tired to walk so you stayed. The sketchy figures in the back didnât seem like a big deal at the time. Finally the train came and you got on, only about six people onboard. The man a couple feet down on the bench smelt like burnt flesh. He had a cigar in his mouth despite the no smoking sign. Whatever, it wasnât any of your business. Your left side was occupied, surprisingly, despite the abundance of free seats. This man was close, too close. Two others gathered in front of you.Â
âWhere ya headed to baby?
âYeah, yeah, you need some company?â
âWeâll treat ya real nice.â
You tried to ignore their taunts, keeping your eyes down and trying to appear as small as possible. You immediately noticed when a knife was drawn.
âWeâre tryna talk to you, bitch.â
The blade nicked the bottom of your jaw, your blood running cold.
âYer makinâ too much ruckus over there.â
Everyone slowly turned to look at who spoke. The man looked without a care in the world.
âDidnât fuckinâ ask you, now did I old man?â The knife was now pointed to him.
He drew a long sigh and took out his blunt, pressing the lit end into the seat, the plastic screaming in agony.
You donât really remember the rest of the conversation. Everything was a blur. Words were said. Punches were thrown. Bones were shattered. The man with the cigarette hardly got up from his seat, really. The next thing you knew he was sat back down and the others were lying on the floor, knocked out. You shifted your feet away so they didnât get near the bodies.
Awkwardly, you tried to thank him, offer him what little you had in your pocket, mostly out of fear. You didnât want to get on the bad side of someone who could so easily hurt people, and you didnât want to appear ungrateful. Based on the scar that tore into his mouth, heâd seen his fair share of violence. He turned it down. You offered to buy him food. He turned it down. Medical care to clean his fists? He turned it down. You were out of options. Was there anything you could offer him? His answer still burned in your mind.
âYou wanna fuck?â
The money afterward was unexpected. You woke up sore and broken, your thighs burning and covered in bruises. He was long gone, in his place a wad of cash that made your eyes bulge. Did he think you were a hooker? You werenât sure. The sex wasnât bad. You didnât get off, but he obviously knew what he was doing. It felt nice. You felt safe.
Your next meeting, he found you walking the streets. Money in hand, stinking of booze. Wagging a room key in your face and giving you an address to go to if you need some money. Maybe he thought you were someone else. You didnât care. You needed money and didnât mind the sex. You were always wet enough to be comfortable for a decent amount of time, but it would hurt more after each round. You wish he didnât last so long. Or for so many rounds. You wondered if he was even human. More money.
You had a couple rules for your⊠relationship. No kissing. No oral (for either of you). No raw contact or cumming on your body. No telling. You didnât need a reputation.
He paid based on what he felt like paying you, but he was never stingy so you didnât mind. Until lately.
He wasnât paying as much as he used to. He didnât seem to be enjoying himself as much. Maybe he was getting bored. You were worried.
You needed the money. You always needed money. And this wasnât paying like it used to. It was a hard pill to swallow, but you knew what you had to do.
You needed another outlet.
It was going to be hard to find one. You were essentially selling your body, but you still had standards. You refused to sleep with anyone who you didnât find attractive, anyone who was married, anyone dangerous. Your work was cut out for you.
And since you were now free on Saturday, you would go out then.
You put your siblings to bed early, double checking with mom that sheâd be out until early morning. You dressed nice but not too nice. Hot but not too hot. It was a fine line you were walking, and you absolutely were not going to cross it.
The bar in the popular part of the city was going to be the number one spot for rich bachelors. You never went there yourself because it was so expensive and uptight, but you were looking to get drinks anyway. You didnât have to wait long before you had a drink in front of you, courtesy of a gentleman sitting in a booth in the back. He was too old for you but you smiled at him. The others came quickly. You had the bartender sneak most of them into the sink. You couldnât get drunk and most of these men you wouldnât touch with a ten foot pole. It was starting to get late. You didnât spot anyone worth your while.
âThis seat taken?â
You whipped around to your right, surprised to see a young man - no - someone your age in here. Not to mention attractive. You shook your head, trying to cover your own shock.
âNot a lot of⊠not⊠old guys in here, am I right?â He laughed, nodding toward the tables of older gentleman. Most were fifty or so. You felt gross now realizing how many were staring at you.
You laughed back nervously, âYeahâŠâ
âWhat brings you here?â He asked innocently, âNot that you donât belong here! You just look⊠I donât know - uncomfortable?â
You cringed. Did you look uncomfortable?Â
âYeah, sorry. Just⊠hanging around, I suppose,â you offered. He was too cute now. You couldnât bring yourself to take his money even if you wanted to.Â
He smiled. âSame here. I thought this place was going to be fun, but thereâs not a lot to do.â He looked around. âMost of these guys are talkinâ business.â Looking around yourself, you realized he was right. Most of them were meeting up with business partners whiles others were trying to make business partners. Some looked pretty shady. You were getting more nervous by the minute.
âI-I have to go,â you mumbled quickly, getting up from your seat end creeping toward the door. He was surprised. âUh, by-â
You bumped into something, stumbling back into the bar.Â
âOi, you should watch where youâr-â
You gasped.
The music got louder. The air felt heavy. His eyes looked dark.
The corners of his mouth tugged down and his eyes narrowed. Sweat condensed on your brow.
âWhat are you doing here?â He growled, his stature big and menacing. His green eyes bore into you sharply.
âI-I-I-â
âHey-â The boy from before was back. âAre you okay?â He looked to Toji and frowned.
âThis guy bothering you?â He asked, all too naive. You gently pushed him back. You could see Toji about to pounce.Â
You pushed him back a little harder when he didnât get the hint. âNo, itâs fine, man,â you told him, âjust go.â
He gave you another concerned look, but left when you gave him a stern one. You felt bad. He seemed nice.
Much to your disappointment, the other man you were dealing with didnât just vanish into thin air. You sighed. âI was just about to leave, anyway.â You tried to step past him. He didnât let you, his wide torso stepping in front of you. His smirk made your skin crawl.
âLetâs talk.â
You werenât given the option to deny him as he stole you away, a large fist grabbing you arm far too harshly. He pulled you through the exit, dragging you down the crowded street. Any struggle you made was met with a firm tug, his grip getting tighter and tighter. You were definitely going to bruise.
When youâd rounded lone alleyway between the buildings, heâd pressed you against the wall, the grainy texture of the brick scratching your skin.
âWhat the fuck was that about, huh?â He hissed, his teeth sharp and burning white.
âYou fucking around? You screw any of those fuckers?â Heâd never been so angry with you before. Heâd never been angry with you, period. Your heartbeat pounded in your ears.
âN-no!â you argued, âToji, no. What the hell - what are you doing here?â When he gave no answer, his eyes still glaring, you continued.
âYou said you were busy todayâŠâ
No answer.
âI can spend my free time wherever I want.â
No. Answer. Your eyes glazed over, and you turned away from him.
âI⊠needed moneyâŠâ
With that he seemed to let up.
âMoney?â He scoffed. âThis how you get money now? What the fuck happened to your job?â
âNothing⊠I just needed more.â You bit your lip. âYourâs isnât enough.â
âWhat do you mean mine isnât enough?â He barked. He wrapped his hand under you jaw, his palm grasping your pulse.
âI told you Iâd give you more if you let me screw you raw. Didnât I?â
You swallowed thickly, tears clinging to your eyelashes.
You looked back at him with fear in your eyes, his hand slowly closing around your neck. His expression softened ever so slightly as he realized he was scaring you.
He released you with a huff and walked a few steps away, running a hand down his face.
âWhatâs the issue? STDs? Birth control? Iâm clean, and Iâll get you pills-â
âNo!â
He looked at you surprised. You calmed yourself down and rubbed your arms, suddenly feeling the chill of the air.
âTojiâŠ,â you began, âweâre⊠not together. You have your fun, I get paid - thatâs all we do.â You looked up at him softly. âI need more than what youâre giving me.â
His eyes narrowed. âYou saying you donât have fun.â
You bit your lip and looked away. He scowled. Wrong answer.
He took wide strides forward, cornering you against the wall yet again, this time with his hands on either side of your head, forcing you to face him.
âYou saying you donât love it when I fuck you? That your cunt doesnât fuckinâ love my cock?
You frowned back at him.
âYou tell me.â
His mouth thinned.
It was no secret that you didnât come when you two fucked. Itâs not like he was trying either. You always prepped yourself beforehand, lubing yourself up and stretching yourself out so he didnât hurt you. And during your escapades, he always just pulled his dick out and got to it. He never touched you more than necessary, never tried to feel you up or grope around. His only goal was to get himself off. And you were fine with that. So long as he paid you.
His eyes looked at you softly, he almost looked guilty, but you knew him better than that. You sighed and pushed away from him.
âItâs late⊠I gotta go hom-â
He grabbed your wrist, squeezing tight.
You looked down at it, his hand engulfing your arm, his fingers and knuckles all too big for you. His nails dug into your skin and he pulled you back. You couldn't walk away if you wanted to. You were trapped. You wanted to push him away, you wanted to be mad, but you couldn't find it in yourself.
He leaned in, his eyes soft yet cold.
You flinched, his lips connecting with the side of your neck. He was rough, his mouth moving against your flesh in a sloppy kiss. His tongue flicked across your neck, and his teeth tugged at your skin. He was hungry. Always hungry. You pushed your free hand against him. He ignored it.
His free hand snaked up to the underside of your breast, the other dropping to your hip, his palm resting on the bone. His thumb rubbed at the exposed skin where your chest spilled out. You felt conflicted.
He bit you harshly, drawing blood. Your eyes widened and you hissed.
âSo thatâs what this was all about, huh?â He rasped, his bottom lip resting on your skin, his breath hot.
âLittle girl not cumming like she wants to?â
You pushed his face away and groaned.
âAs if youâve ever gotten me off? Iâm leaving.â
You went to move, but he kept his grip tight. He grabbed the other wrist as well. He squeezed hard, forcing you to gasp. He smirked.
âYouâre this stubborn youâve forgotten how to ask for things? You had me worried there. Thought you were tryna end things for real.â
Your face flushed in anger and embarrassment. You yanked your arms away but he didn't let go. You tugged once, twice, three times - he didn't let go. You yelped as he tugged back, forcing you to stumble and fall against him. He pressed his hips against yours, his groin digging into your stomach. You grunted at the pressure, your toes curling at the contact. He was hard already, his cock throbbing against your navel.
He pinned your arms over your head, his weight forcing you up against the wall, his mouth looming over yours. You turned your head to the side. He couldnât kiss you, that was against the rules. His hot breath fell down your cheek and neck.
He leaned in again and you turned away.
He was hungry. Always hungry.
He leaned in again. And again.
You whimpered softly and groaned. Your heart throbbed.
You swallowed thickly as he leaned in again, your chest heaving, his lips brushing against your jaw. You shook your head weakly. He huffed, a deep, almost animalistic rumble leaving his chest.
You whined and shut your eyes.
His tongue smoothed over your jawline, his hand finally letting go of you.
You placed a hand on his shoulder but didn't push him away. He was too strong, anyway.
He grunted and ran his fingers through your hair, grasping a handful and pulling your head back. You whined, the sound only encouraging him to continue, your hair tightening in his fist. He pushed his hips against yours, his hard cock pressing against your pelvis, the fabric of your skirt doing nothing to stop the feeling.
âCâmon sweetheart, Donâtcha wanna feel good?â He cooed.
He forced you into the wall once more, his free hand moving down to your thigh, squeezing the skin just under your knee. He pulled your leg up, wrapping it over his hip, his bulge rubbing your heat. A chuckle rose deep within his throat, and he licked at your ear.
âUgh, Toji, stop it! Youâre being annoying,â you complained, despite the thrill lacing up your spine. He laughed.
âDonât lie,â the man crooned. âIâll make you come so hard, youâll be begginâ me to fuck ya.âÂ
Your cowered away. âWha-â Umph.
You couldnât finish as you we dropped onto a hard surface, a mixture of both brick and stale dirt. Looking up, dead branches and deader leaves filled your vision. The alley way had led to a smaller subsection of the street, a lone crevice in the city district that was long abandoned and withering away. Your dress was smushed into the dirt of the old dirt bowl that was in the center of the small courtyard, the tree taking root twisted and weak. It almost seemed pitifully metaphorical to your current situation.
A scheming hand slithered up your thigh, scrunching back your crinkled skirt and hiking it around your hips, your lacey g-string fully exposed.
âFuck,â Toji moaned, licking his lips, âYou were definitely looking to get fucked tonight.â
âNo I wasnât!â You countered nervously, trying to press your thighs together to hide yourself. Despite being in an abandoned area, you were still in a public space and didnât want to be seen by anyone. Much less be here for the long duration it took him to be satisfied. But this time felt a bit different. He was taking his time, touching you more, teasing. He usually got straight to business and had his fly down by now, but instead it was you who was being undressed, his big, warm hands encompassing your thighs and groping them. He was trying to break another rule, you could feel it. He had a devious look in his eye. He smiled at you.
âHow much to touch your pussy?â
You were taken aback by the question, squeezing your thighs even tighter.
âWha- thatâs off limits!â
âNo, no,â he insisted, âeverythingâs got a price, baby. Whatâs yours?â
He couldnât possibly be serious. Youâd never seen him so adamant to give you pleasure, much less offer money for it. From your experience, men were hesitant to do anything besides receive, convincing themselves that woman adored pleasing them. And the rare moment when they did touch a girl, it was always careless and short-lived, the only real goal to get them wet enough to be a slippery hole. You werenât in the mood to be disappointed.
âThirty thousand yen? Forty?â
âNot interested.â
âMore?â
âNo.â
He leered.
âThree. Hundred. Thousand.â
Your eyes bulged. Mouth gaping.
âTh-thatsâŠâ
âGoing once,â he announced. âGoing twice!â Donât let him get to three.
You could get a new computer with that, replace your old busted one that had lost half the keys and took fifty years to load.
âGoing-â
âIâll do it!â You gasped, defeated. âIâll do itâŠâ
His paws squeezed your thighs, drifting up the insides and gently prying them apart. You hardly fought him when you realized that was the only way you were going to get the money. New computer. New computer. You tried to focus on the positives.
Toji pressed his cheek into your inner thigh, kissing your skin softly. You shivered at the feeling of his soft lips brushing your flesh. He moved up your leg, placing his hands on each side of your panties and tugging them down, your skin glistening with sweat as he pulled the cloth against the curves of your flesh. He pulled your legs apart further and licked a long stripe up your skin. the wetness cold on your overheated flesh. You clenched your teeth. You were on the verge of telling him the deal was off, but his tongue brushed against your core and you could no longer find the words. He kissed and sucked at the sensitive skin of your thighs, leaving marks in his wake.
Your core throbbed.
He pulled you closer to the edge of the pot, your body lying at an awkward angle, the base of your spine aching.
Toji pressed a thumb against your slit, dragging it across your folds and collecting your slick on the pad. You shuddered.
He ran the pad of his thumb across your clit, rubbing slow circles into the bundle of nerves. You gripped his hair with one hand, tugging it hard, his muffled groan tickling your core. His finger slipped between your folds, easily entering your wet hole, his finger much bigger than your own. You grunted at the intrusion, the thick digit stretching your inner walls, his knuckle pressing against your clit as he bottomed out inside of you. He wiggled his finger, stretching your walls before pumping his finger in and out of your cunt, dragging out every little noise he could from your mouth.
He pulled you closer to the edge of your seat, your legs dangling in the air as he sat between your thighs, your hands digging into the dirt beneath you for support.
His finger moved slowly within you, his eyes never leaving yours, a fire burning within his emerald eyes. You grunted when he added another finger, the feeling almost too much for you. Your noises echoed briefly throughout the courtyard, bouncing off the concrete and surrounding buildings, and you were all too aware of how loud you were being. You pulled harder on his hair as the knot in your stomach grew tighter.
But you tried to keep your composure, your body still tense with the fear of your surroundings. Any moment someone could come waltzing by, see what you two were doing, your disheveled appearance, perhaps even try to take advantage. Your alarm hindered your concentration on the pleasure.
âWhatâs up?â You heard, turning your eyes back down to look at him. You hadnât realized your gaze had wandered to the opening in the walls to where the city life buzzed about. He glanced over to where you were looking.
âAinât nobody cominâ over here. Relax,â he mumbled, his eyes getting warm again. âIâll protect ya. Just relax.â
Your heart throbbed at the promise, warmth enveloping your body. You hesitantly let your head fall back and sighed, dropping your shoulders. His free hand moved to the hem of your skirt and pushed it up over your belly. He wanted a good view. You didn't care. You felt⊠safe.
His fingers picked up speed, fucking you harder as you bit your lip. His thumb moved back to your clit, rubbing circles on the swollen button. You hummed and sighed, his fingers twisting inside you. The pleasure began to build up again, boiling in your belly and tingling up your spine. And just when you got comfortable he only took it further.
Heat enveloped your clit, wet and slippery and hot like a warm bath. You gasped out, squirming around a bit and digging your nails into the roots in the ground. Looking back down, you confirmed your theory. Tojiâs head was between your thighs, his mouth on your pussy and wrapped around your little bead, his fingers still working inside of you. Soft pants and whines left your mouth, your legs shaking around his head as he continued to suck at you, his tongue swirling around and prodding under the hood, leaving you slick and sensitive. Your core throbbed.
You felt a sharp pressure inside you, and then a slow stretch. You yelped. A third finger was entering you, your cunt molding around the thick digit. You writhed again, trying to ease the ache of the intrusion. His other hand rested on your belly, gently smoothing over your skin as he ate you. His head moved side to side, tongue laving over you, his hands never stopping their movements. Oh god. It felt like you going to- to-
âAh!,â you moaned, shaking viciously and clutching at his head, holding him in place. You were melting, you were sure of it. Everything was slipping away from you, your bones, your brain, your worries. His tongue kept lashing at you, extending your pleasure and refusing to slow down. His fingers remained pressed against your sweet spot, his other hand pushing on your belly. It was all too much, you were squealing with overstimulation. It got tighter. And tighter. And tighter. Until something popped.
All the tension broke from your body, the shocking sensations melting into something warm and fuzzy. You slowly let go of everything, all tension easing away from you and allowing for complete bliss to take over. Sweet sighs and mewls left your lips, your back lying against the dirt as you caught your breath and waited for your head and pussy to stop tingling. Another whine was pulled from you when he took his fingers and mouth away from you, unraveling your legs from his head and stepping back.
âYou fallinâ asleep now?â He laughed.
You pouted and groaned. âNo⊠jusâ⊠gimme a sec.â Your bones were like jelly, your eyelids heavy. He cackled at you and that was the push you needed to get off your ass. He looked smitten.
âGood, right?â He crooned, wiping his mouth, âYa fuckinâ squirted on me.â
Your face got dark and you looked to your lap, embarrassed. Â
âNothinâ to be ashamed about princess.â He assured, fishing out his wallet and shufflling through the bills. He took out a stack and threw it in your lap.
âIt was hot.â
You groaned again and dug your face into your hands, trying to ignore his raspy laughing.
You jolted when you felt his breath on you, looking up and freezing. His eyes burned into you.
âNow next time, letâs work out this condom situation, alright?â
You gulped.

Would I be the asshole if I refused to pay my phone bill?
đ±đ§Ÿâżïž <- To recognize my post for later :)
The title is probably already a bit of a red flag, but I genuinely didnât know how else to word itâŠ
For context: I am a disabled, chronically and mentally ill trans guy who recently turned 20. I havenât left home yet for a lot of reasons, some being that my parents promised to let me live rent-free so long as I was in college (which I am, just not currently for the summer) as well as the fact that they really havenât raised me to be very independent and rely solely on them (which is honestly a whole other can of worms), but primarily because of my disability. It isnât safe for me to live on my own, as I faint commonly, cannot stand up for more than maybe fifteen minutes at a time roughly, and sometimes am unable to eat for long periods of time due to debilitating nausea which leads to weakness. I also have severe chronic pain in my limbs and gut, something Iâve had most of my life, while my chronic illness Iâve only had for about a year and a half now and am still struggling to adjust to.
Because of my disability, I also canât work a traditional job. I offer art commissions online, because Iâm very passionate about art and itâs one of the few things Iâm good at, and I haul in a decent amount, but certainly not enough to live off of. I make enough to set aside some good savings (Iâm currently saving for a wheelchair, as that might grant me more freedom and the potential to get a job at least for the summer) while also indulging myself in buying the occasional fatty treat (Iâm very underweight so thatâs not an issue, and I was raised essentially in an almond mom household all my life, so this form of eating is really the only sense of control I have over my life, as Iâm fully dependent on my parents elsewise).
The issue has come upon relatively recently. I feel like a huge entitled brat for it as well, and if others believe the same, I sincerely donât blame you.
My mom sat me down the other day and said that she expected me to start paying at least one bill. She offered my cheapest bill (which would be for my phone; my parents bought it, and itâs theirs, theyâre just letting me use it as my own.. I donât own a whole lot of âmyâ items myself) and asked what I thought about that. I was fully honest with her: if I had a steady stream of income, I wouldnât hesitate to offer to pay for all of my bills, but with the way it stands, I just donât make enough month-to-month to regularly afford the bill. I also do my commissions through my phone, so if I could afford the bill, my phone would be turned off, and Iâd be unable to continue.
My mom got very upset and started talking to me like a child (though she really has every right to, honestly, and I know that). She went on a very long rant about teaching me responsibility, and how I canât rely on my parents forever, and that I need to grow up at some point⊠All things that I fully agree with. I sincerely want to! I want nothing more than to be fully independent. But the way it stands, my parents cover my entire medical bills and they pay for my meds⊠And I just donât make enough to survive on my own, and I can just barely afford a meal or two from a sandwich shop I enjoy twice a month to keep my sanity in check because Iâm usually bedbound.
I tried explaining to her that I would if I could, sincerely, and that Iâm not trying to be a leech or lazy, but she wasnât having it. She just scolded me and said that if I can afford to eat out every month, then I can afford the phone bill. But again, with the way things are, I donât think Iâd be able to do it every month without tapping into my savings, which again, is for my wheelchair so I can regain some sense of freedom for myself. Iâm seriously debating just telling her no straight out, but I donât know what the aftermath might look likeâŠ
So, sincerely: Am I in the wrong here? Should I just swallow my protests and cough up the money somehow? I really donât know and would love an outside perspective.

Regressors that are (bodily) older, please interact!
Later 20s, 30s, maybe even older? I would love to hear from you and maybe even your stories if you don't mind sharing!
I want to meet more people like me and also show others that age regression doesn't just suddenly "stop" at a certain age
Some of us:
Didn't discover regressing/didn't understand their involuntary regression until they were older
Wasn't in a safe space mentally and/or physically to be able to regress the way we want to
Didnt "grow out" of regressing. I think a lot of people outside the community assume we will all grow out of wanting to regress at some point. Maybe some of us will, but some of us won't. Regressing can be a safe and healthy coping mechanism, no matter your bodily age!
And probably many other reasons I can't think of at the moment lol
I would love to get to talk to older regressors, or if there are any groups/discords, I would like to know those too :3
I'm gonna talk about my story a little under the cut, but I don't exactly recommend reading it if you are little right now! I am going to be talking about s3xualization of agere and children's media unfortunately.
I started age dreamer/involuntarily regressing when I was in high school without really knowing what it was. I was really into MLP FiM during its height popularity. I watched the show, collected and played with the toys, did coloring books, took my MLP blanket to school ever day. You get the idea.
I discovered regression here in Tumblr, but this was yeeeeaaars ago, like back when nsfw was still allowed. The line between ddlg and agere wasn't as solid as it is now. Or maybe it was just because I was a kid and couldn't understand better? Either way ... i ended up getting wrong ideas of what agere had to be and ended up scaring myself off. I also had adult roleplayers leaving really inappropriate comments on my posts that made me feel icky. I thought agere had to be s3xual and scared myself off.
We also unfortunately probably know the uhhh .. types of fan art that was popular of MLP. And it just ended up making me lose interest in the series. The stuff was everywhere and it was hard to avoid even if you were vigilant.
I never got a real chance to understand what healthy, voluntary regression was. I still was an age dreamer, but most times when I involuntarily regress it is out of extreme stress and it isn't fun or pretty.
I had a lot of bad things that happened to me last year and in turn I am having more health issues. Chronic conditions I already had getting worse, and new ones popping up. My mom (the one who birthed me) has been helping me a bit, but it has still been a lot of playing adult. Making phone calls back and forth, filling out paperwork, figuring out disability leave, paying bills, etc etc. I started age dreaming more and more often to cope with the stress. Like I randomly one day bought a DVD player and sets of Winnie the Pooh and Scooby Doo DVDs lmfao.
I also never stopped collecting stuffed animals and came back to collecting dolls again last year. It helps that I have friends IRL who I don't think are regressors, but still enjoy collecting with me. (my friends don't know yet, but I think they would be accepting if I told them, or they might already assume I regress tbh)
I have kinda had age regression on the back of my mind for several months, but was scared to look back into it. I was scared of going through the same thing I did back in high school. But also denying I am a regressor and that I still need to heal my childhood wounds was getting heavier and heavier on me. I am sooooo thankful I finally felt safe to begin exploring regression again â„ïžđ
Side note: while I absolutely don't care if people do ddlg and similar stuff as a kink/fetish, I am thankful that the distinction between that and agere is more distinct now. It is important we protect minors and other vulnerable people from having the same sorts of things that happened to me (or worse) from happening to them.

As you strolled down the familiar streets of your hometown, memories flooded back from your childhood. The laughter, the adventures, and the bond you shared with Christopher Bahng, the leader of Stray Kids, seemed like a distant yet cherished echo.
Christopher, or Chris as you fondly called him, had always been your partner in crime. From building makeshift forts in the backyard to dreaming about conquering the world with your talents, your friendship knew no bounds.
Years had passed since Chris left your small town to pursue his dreams in South Korea. The world had known him as a rising star, a beacon of talent and charisma leading Stray Kids to fame and success. But to you, he was still the same old Chris, the boy with endless dreams and an infectious smile.
You were lounging on your couch, scrolling through your phone when a message pops up.Â
Chris: Hey, you there?
You: Yeah, what's up?
Chris: I'm back in town for a break. Let's catch up over dinner tonight?
You: Definitely! It's been ages since we hung out. Where do you want to go?
Chris: How about that burger joint we used to love?
You: Sounds good! See you there at 7?
Chris: Perfect! Can't wait to see you!
You grin, excited to see Chris after so long. Memories of your mischievous adventures flood back as you head to the burger joint.
As you arrive, Chris is already there, leaning against the wall, looking as cool as ever.
"Hey, stranger!" you exclaim, approaching him.
He grins, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hey, you! Long time no see."
You both settle into a booth, exchanging stories and laughing like old times.
"So, how's life as a K-pop star treating you?" you ask, taking a big bite of your burger.
Chris rolls his eyes playfully. "Oh, you know, the usual. Dance practices, fan meetings, and dodging crazy rumors."
You chuckle. "Must be tough being an international heartthrob."
He shrugs. "Eh, someone's gotta do it."
Throughout dinner, you reminisce about your childhood antics, from building forts to pulling pranks on neighbors.
"Remember the time we tried to skateboard down that steep hill and ended up in the bushes?" Chris laughs, shaking his head.
"How could I forget? We were lucky we didn't break any bones," you reply, laughing along.
As the night wears on, you realize how much you've missed Chris's company. Despite his fame, he's still the same goofball you grew up with.
During dinner, in between bites of burgers and sips of soda, Chris leans in and asks about your life.
"So, what have you been up to, besides stalking me on social media?" he teases, a playful glint in his eyes.
You chuckle, taking a sip of your drink before replying, "Oh, you know, the usual grind. Work, family stuff, trying not to embarrass myself too much."
Chris nods, genuinely interested. "How's work treating you?"
You shrug. "It's been busy, but I can't complain. Pays the bills, you know."
He nods sympathetically before his expression brightens with curiosity. "And what about your family? How's everyone doing?"
You smile, glad to share. "They're good, thanks for asking. Mom's still the same old mom, doting on everyone. Dad's busy with his projects, and my sister's off on her own adventures."
Chris nods along, listening intently. Then, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he leans in a little closer. "So, any special someone in your life? Or are you still single and ready to mingle?"
You roll your eyes, but there's a hint of laughter in your voice. "Oh, you know me, Chris. Still navigating the treacherous waters of singledom."
He laughs, giving you a knowing look. "Well, if you ever need a wingman, you know who to call."
You both share a laugh, the easy banter flowing between you like it always has.
As the conversation continues over dinner, you can't help but inquire about Chris's fellow Stray Kids members.
"So, how are your kids?" you ask, genuinely interested in catching up on his bandmates.
Chris's eyes light up as he talks about each member, sharing anecdotes and updates about their lives and careers. He laughs as he recounts their latest shenanigans during practice and on tour, painting a vivid picture of the bond they share.
"They're all doing great, still causing chaos wherever they go," he chuckles, a fondness evident in his voice.
Then, with a playful smirk, you decide to turn the tables on him. "So, Chris," you begin, raising an eyebrow playfully, "what's the deal with you? Any lucky lady catching your eye these days, or are you still playing the field?"
Chris chuckles, running a hand through his hair before settling back in his seat. "Ah, the eternal question," he quips, a hint of mischief dancing in his eyes. "As for my relationship status, let's just say I'm enjoying the single life for now."
You nod, understanding his stance. Being in the spotlight can undoubtedly complicate matters when it comes to romance.
"And what about all that flirting with fans?" you prod, unable to resist teasing him a bit. "Are you just a professional heartthrob, or is there more to it than meets the eye?"
Chris laughs, his grin widening. "Ah, you caught me," he admits, his tone light but genuine. "Flirting with fans is all part of the game, you know. It's about connecting with them, making them feel special. But at the end of the day, it's all in good fun."
You nod, appreciating his honesty. Being a K-pop idol comes with its own set of rules and expectations, after all.
As the night wears on, you continue to chat, trading stories and laughter until the restaurant begins to empty out around you. Despite the fame and the distance that separates you, tonight feels like old times, a reminder of the enduring bond you share with Chris, your childhood friend turned international superstar.
You and Chris make your way back home after dinner, laughter echoing through the streets, you can't help but marvel at the unexpected turn of events. The rain pours down relentlessly, catching you both off guard, but instead of seeking shelter, you find yourselves caught up in the moment, running through the streets like characters in a romance movie.
"This is insane!" you shout over the sound of the rain, unable to contain your laughter as you splash through puddles.
Chris grins, his eyes alight with exhilaration. "I know, right? Who knew we'd end up in the middle of a monsoon?"
You exchange glances, the sheer absurdity of the situation only adding to the sense of adventure. With each step, the rain pelts down harder, soaking you both to the bone, but neither of you cares. In this moment, nothing else matters except the sheer joy of being alive, of feeling the rain on your skin and the thrill of the unexpected.
As you round a corner, a small awning comes into view, offering temporary refuge from the storm. Without hesitation, you both dart beneath it, breathless and exhilarated, the adrenaline coursing through your veins.
"Wow, that was intense," you gasp, trying to catch your breath as you lean against the wall.
Chris nods, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Tell me about it. Remind me to check the weather forecast next time we decide to go out for dinner."
You both burst into laughter, the shared moment bonding you even closer together. And as you stand there, drenched but deliriously happy, you can't help but feel grateful for the simple joys of friendship and spontaneity.
Chris chuckles, his laughter mingling with the sound of raindrops. "Well, you know what they say about spontaneity."
"Yeah, it definitely keeps life interesting," you reply, glancing up at the darkened sky above.
You glance up at Chris, his features illuminated by the soft glow of the streetlights, and for a moment, time seems to stand still. His eyes meet yours, sparking with an intensity you've never seen before, and in that moment, everything else fades away.
Feeling emboldened by the electric energy between you, you reach out and take Chris's hand, the warmth of his touch sending a shiver down your spine. Without a word, you continue running through the empty streets, the raindrops falling around you like a symphony of whispers.
As you round a corner, a small square comes into view, the cobblestones slick with rain. The soft strains of music drift through the air, beckoning you closer. With a smile tugging at the corners of your lips, you stop and turn to face Chris.
"Hey, do you want to dance with me?" you ask, your voice barely above a whisper.
Chris's eyes widen in surprise, his gaze flickering with uncertainty. But then, a slow smile spreads across his face, and he nods, his hand tightening around yours.
"Absolutely," he replies, his voice low and husky.
Together, you step onto the rain-soaked cobblestones, the world around you fading into a blur of colors and sounds. In this moment, there is only the two of you, moving in perfect harmony to the rhythm of the rain.
As you stand there, laughing, dancing, and soaked to the bone, you can feel the weight of his gaze, the unspoken tension hanging between you like a delicate thread. The air crackles with anticipation, charged with a magnetic energy that draws you closer together with every passing moment.
And then, in a bold and unexpected move, Chris reaches out, his hand finding yours with a gentle urgency. The warmth of his touch sends a jolt of electricity coursing through your veins, igniting a fire that burns brighter with each heartbeat.
With a wordless understanding, he draws you closer, his body pressed against yours in a dance as old as time. The rain falls around you, a steady rhythm punctuating the silence as you move together in perfect harmony.
His touch is electric, sending shivers racing down your spine as you lose yourself in the heat of the moment. Time seems to stand still as you surrender to the pull of desire, your heart beating in time with his, as you drown in the depths of his gaze.
In that moment, with the rain falling around you and the world spinning madly on, Chris leans in and kisses you. It's not a fleeting touch or a casual gesture â it's a declaration, a moment of raw and unbridled passion that leaves you breathless and wanting more.
His kiss is electric, sending shockwaves coursing through your body as you surrender to the intensity of the moment. Every brush of his lips against yours sets your heart ablaze, igniting a flame that burns brighter with each passing second.
In that stolen moment beneath the stormy sky, you lose yourself in the intoxicating rush of sensation, your senses overwhelmed by the taste of rain and the feel of his touch. It's a moment suspended in time, a glimpse into a world where passion reigns supreme and love knows no bounds.
As the rain continues to fall around you, you cling to each other, lost in the dizzying whirlwind of emotion. And in that moment, with Chris's lips pressed against yours, you know that you've found something worth holding onto, something worth cherishing for eternity.
You both break from the kiss, a shared breathless moment passing between you as you gaze into each other's eyes. The rain continues to fall, a gentle cadence echoing the pounding of your hearts.
Chris's voice breaks the silence, soft but filled with emotion. "Wow," he breathes, his eyes searching yours as if trying to unravel the depths of your soul.
You smile, feeling a rush of warmth and affection wash over you. "Yeah," you reply, your voice barely above a whisper. "Wow indeed."
There's a tangible energy between you, a connection that defies explanation. It's as if the universe itself has conspired to bring you together in this moment, under the cloak of a stormy sky.
Chris reaches out, his hand finding yours with a tenderness that takes your breath away. "I... I didn't plan for any of this," he admits, his voice tinged with vulnerability.
You squeeze his hand gently, reassuring him with a smile. "Me neither," you confess, feeling the weight of the moment settle between you like a comforting embrace.
For a moment, you simply stand there, lost in each other's gaze, the world fading away around you. In this moment, there are no expectations, no uncertainties â only the shared promise of what could be.
And as you stand there, hand in hand, you know that no matter what the future may hold, you'll face it together, bound by the unbreakable bond of love and possibility.
You can't help but let out a nervous laugh, the tension of the moment giving way to a lightheartedness that feels like a balm to your soul.
You shake your head, still incredulous at the whirlwind of emotions that brought you to this moment. "Who would've thought a rainy night and an life update dinner would lead to... this," you say, gesturing between the two of you with a mixture of disbelief and affection.
Chris smiles, his gaze softening as he looks at you. "Sometimes, life has a way of surprising us when we least expect it," he muses, his tone thoughtful.
You nod in agreement, feeling a sense of gratitude wash over you. "Yeah, I guess it does," you reply, your heart filled with a newfound sense of hope and possibility.
As you stand there, sharing a moment of levity in the midst of the storm, you realize that sometimes, the most beautiful connections are forged in the unlikeliest of circumstances.
Chris breaks the moment with a nervous laugh, his cheeks tinted with a rosy hue. "Um, so... I guess I should probably.. you know.. say something here, huh?"
You chuckle, feeling the warmth of his hand in yours. "Go on, Chris. Lay it on me."
He takes a deep breath, his expression earnest yet endearingly shy. "Okay, here goes. I... I've always admired you, you know? From the moment we met as kids, you've been this constant presence in my life. And tonight, being here with you, dancing in the rain... it just feels right."
Your heart swells at his words, touched by the sincerity in his confession. "Chris, that's... that's really sweet," you reply, unable to suppress the smile that tugs at your lips. "I have to admit, I've always had a soft spot for you too."
He blinks, surprise evident in his eyes. "Wait, really?"
You nod, feeling a surge of courage wash over you. "Yeah, really. I mean, who else would I want to dance in the rain with?"
Chris's laughter fills the air, a melody of joy and relief. "Well, in that case, I guess we're both pretty lucky, huh?"
You nod, feeling a sense of lightness settle over you. "Yeah, I'd say we are."
And as the rain continues to fall around you, you both stand there, hand in hand, sharing a moment of laughter and connection that you know will stay with you long after the storm has passed.

Are You With Me | | Chapter 3
previous part | masterlist | next part
synopsis: Jake and Y/N fight over the hospital bill and whether its a good idea to keep the kids on Jake's insurance or night. Jake still has issues with Miles. Ella makes a decision in the course of her treatment.
word count: 2.1k
warnings: medical inaccuracies, divorce, fighting, cursing, childhood cancer, mentions of childhood death
Jake had made a joke once that Eli was the cheapest baby they had. Said joke had earned him a glare that was fierce enough to send a shiver down his spine. Y/N had mastered the âmom eyeâ after having two kids.
But, even though Jakeâs joke was done in poor timing, he was right. Having a baby, although not planned one bit, at home had saved them quite a bit of money. Jake had always found it comical that he was the best of the best. The 1% of the 1% and had some of the worst health care coverage in the whole United States.
âI feel like I need to take a loan out to pay these,â Jake rubbed his forehead, slipping his glasses off his face.
It was one of the rare moments that Jake and Y/N were both at the house. Y/N spent the day with Ella while Jake was at work and Alex was at school. Between Penny and Y/Nâs mother Clara, they watched Eli for a couple of hours. Jake would then come to the hospital at night, staying with Ella while Y/N went home and made dinner and got the boys to bed. The Daggers had created a weekend schedule, each of them taking a saturday or sunday to stay with Ella so Jake and Y/N could both go home and recharge.
Though being at home was more stressful than watching their four year old getting pumped with toxins.
âIs that the bill?â Y/N asked as she walked into the kitchen after putting the boys down. She filled the tea kettle and set it on the burner, before pouring Jake a drink and taking it to him
âThe first one, yeah,â Jake wiped a hand down his face, âThanks,â He mumbled taking the rocks glass from her, âThe ER visit cost thirty-three hundred dollars and insurance is only covering three hundred of it. The estimated total cost of care is around sixty-one thousand dollars.â
âWell,â Y/N swallowed, âI can always put Ella on my insurance. I get good-â
âNo,â Jake sneered, âWe agreed when we⊠we agreed when we divorced I would put the kids on my insurance plan because itâs cheaper.â
âYes, but if this means compromising Ellaâs care-â
âItâs not compromising anything!â Jake snapped causing Y/N to jump a bit in her seat. He scrubbed a hand down his face, âYou got the kids and the house and everything else in the divorce. Let me help do this.â
Y/N nodded her head, âFine,â She sighed, âWe still have the rainy day fund.â
âStill not even going to make a dent in the payments,â Jake leaned back in his chair, âIâm tired of talking about this. How was Ella today?â
âSame as always,â Y/N shrugged, âWas fine in the morning before chemo, napped all afternoon and then threw up everything she ate. Her hair is becoming more of an issue for her⊠itâs becoming more noticeable.â
Ellaâs hair had started to fall out as the weeks of chemo continued on. Jake and Y/N didnât have the heart to shave it or cut it before Ella started therapy, wanting her to have the ability to make that decision for herself. But as the treatments went on, Ellaâs confidence began to fade with each clump of hair that fell.
âMaybe we should just shave it,â Jake suggested as the tea kettle rang.
Y/N poured herself a mug, âNo. Sheâs already losing so much autonomy over her own body. She should be the one who decides on her hair.â
âI hate to see her like that.â
âWe all do,â Y/N took a sip of her tea, âBut she was happy that Rooster and Dragon got to stay with her. Dragon mentioned something about watching Dateline.â
Jake chuckled, âGoing to teach our four year old how to commit murder and get away with it.â
âSheâs been stealing cookies and getting things she wants outta you since she was born.â
Jake couldnât help it, he was a sucker for those big green eyes.
Silence fell over the two of them. It was moments like these where things almost felt normal between Jake and Y/N. Like the past two years had been a fever dream. That they had never spent a day apart. But then reality settled back in, and the awkwardness filled the air.
âIâm going to bed,â Y/N said, clearing her throat, âI put clean towels back in the guest room.â
âThank you,â Jake nodded his head, âGoodnight, Y/N.â
âNight, Jake.â
â â â
When Ella was born, she had a full head of dark curly hair. Y/N knew that she was going to have hair from all the heartburn she had experienced through the whole nine months. In fact, that was the first thing the doctor had called out in the middle of delivering the Seresin girl.
âoh gosh! sheâs got a full head of hair!â
Y/N had always dreamed of having a little girl with gorgeous long hair, and she had been lucky to get just that. She couldnât wait until Ella was old enough to sit up and her hair long enough that she could braid it and style it. Ella always had perfectly done hair when Y/N dropped her off for daycare. Ella liked to show off her matching bows or the intricate braid that her mother did to her classmates and teacher.
Miles had told them one of the most common side effects of chemotherapy was the loss of hair. Y/N thought maybe, just maybe, Ella wouldnât lose her hair. They had gotten through the first week of treatment without any hair loss. But then week two rolled around, and it was the worst week of Ella Seresinâs life.
âMommy! My hair!â Ella cried as she stood fresh out of the shower, with a clump of hair in her hands. Y/N did all she could to try and soothe her child as she pulled on the ends of her hair, more stands coming out.
âI know, baby,â Y/N fought back tears, âI know. Itâll be okay.â
For weeks, Y/N and Jake watched as Ellaâs hair grew thinner and thinner. They switched from using a brush to using a wide tooth comb, hoping to save some of the frail strands of hair on her head. Ella knew that most kids on the floor didnât have hair or wore fake hair. She knew that eventually, she would look like them.
âDo you want strawberry or cherry jello for lunch?â Y/N asked as she looked over the hospitals menu choices for today. Y/N wasnât sure if it was because of stress but the hospital food wasnât actually that bad. Plus, Val had kept Ellaâs room stacked with snacks.
âMommy,â Ella said.
âYes, baby?â Y/N asked, putting the menu down and looking at her daughter, âWhatâs up, buttercup?â
âI want to cut my hair.â
âWhat?â Y/N was taken aback by her daughterâs words. Ella was wise beyond her years but this shocked Y/N to hear.
âI want to cut my hair. It keeps falling,â Ella said, touching her thinning hair.
Y/N nodded her head, âOf course, baby. Weâll do it tonight, when dad gets here. That sounds okay?â Ella nodded her head, a bright smile on her face, âNow, how about that jello.â
A couple of hours later, Jake was walking down the familiar bright colored walls of the childrenâs cancer ward. He always found it ironic that such a dark place was painted so brightly. Ella had only been there two months and already she had new neighbors on either side of her room. The cries of the parents haunted Jake at night and the images of little bodies being moved with sheets over their heads was enough to bring Jake to a panic. However, every time Jake walked closer to Ellaâs door he was met with the beautiful sound of laughter.Â
A smile graced Jakeâs lips as he heard Ellaâs laugh and that familiar snort that always made her laugh harder. But the moment he opened the door, his smile dropped.Â
âDoctor Miles.âÂ
âDaddy!â Ella cheered and sat up in her bed, reaching out for her father.Â
Jake walked over to her, greeting her with a hug and kissing her forehead, âHow are you, bug?âÂ
âIâm good,â Ella nodded her head, laying back in her bed, âDoctor Miles is playing Bluey with me.âÂ
âI see that,â Jake looked over at Miles who was standing in the corner of the room now, âWhere is Mommy?âÂ
âSent her for a snack,â Miles answered, âSheâs looking like the walking dead.âÂ
âCan we refrain from making death jokes?â Miles held back from rolling his eyes, âIâm here now, so you can go.âÂ
âI said I would wait here with Ella until-âÂ
âIâm her father and I say-âÂ
âYou say nothing,â Y/N said, appearing in the doorway, âThank you, Miles.âÂ
Miles nodded his head, âNo problem, Y/N. Iâll see you tomorrow, Ella, good job today.â He held his hand out for the little girl to give him a high five.Â
Y/N waited a moment until Miles was out of the room before looking at Jake, âReally?âÂ
Jake just shrugged, âI had it under control.âÂ
âIâm sure,â Y/N sighed, walking over to Ellaâs bed. The little girl curled up next to her mother almost instantly, âDo you want to tell your daddy what you want to do today?â Ella nodded her head and then looked at Jake.Â
âI want to cut my hair.âÂ
Jakeâs eyes widened as he looked from Ella to Y/N, âYou do?â Ella nodded her head again.Â
âThe nurses brought some clippers and stuff earlier. I-Iâve never cut anyoneâs hair so I-â
âI got it,â Jake answered, âI was cuttinâ boysâ hair in the bay at boot camp.âÂ
âOkay,â Y/N said, feeling the familiar burn of tears in her eyes, âYou ready, Elles?âÂ
âYes!â Ella said, a bright smile on her face.Â
Both Y/N and Jake walked with Ella to the bathroom where a nurse had brung in clippers, scissors, a razor, shaving cream and a step stool. Ella stepped up on the stool, looking at herself in the mirror that was covered with pink and purple flowers. Y/N leaned against the doorway, watching as Jake got everything set up, occasionally making funny faces in the mirror to make Ella laugh.Â
âGonna start now, are you sure this is what you want?â Jake asked his daughter. Ella nodded her head, âOkay. Here we go.â Both Y/N and Jake took a deep breath as he grabbed a lock of Ellaâs hair and lifted the scissors. The sound of the shears closing together made the loudest sound Y/N had ever heard as a lock of brown went tumbling down to the ground.Â
âYou cut it!â Ella gasped. Jakeâs heart pounded in his chest, then it relaxed as her giggles filled the room, âDo it again!âÂ
Jake looked at his wife through the mirror, seeing her red eyes but the smallest smile on her face, âLetâs keep going.âÂ
After every snip of the scissors, Ella giggled which made the whole situation somewhat better. Eventually Jake got to the point where he had to use the clippers. He gently moved them over her head, watching as the final pieces of hair fell from her head.Â
âWhat do you think?â Jake asked, as he set the razor down in the sink. It was quiet for a moment as Ella looked herself over in the mirror.Â
âMy head is cold,â She said.Â
Y/N chuckled as she stepped into the bathroom, walking up behind her daughter, âWeâll get you a hat or two or-âÂ
âThree!â Ella held up three fingers. Ella turned to face her mom, âMomma, donât cry.âÂ
âIâm sorry, baby,â Y/N said, as Ella wiped a finger away from her cheek, âHow about we take a shower and then watch a disney movie?âÂ
âPrincess and The Frog! Daddy! Will you stay?âÂ
Y/N looked at Jake, who was cleaning up the hair around the bathroom, âYeah. Of course. Let me finish cleaning this up, and I'll sneak down to the nurses lounge to make popcorn.âÂ
âThank you,â Y/N said, sincerity in her voice, âLetâs get cleaned up, Elles.âÂ
A strange feeling settled over Jakeâs chest as he watched his wife and daughter. A strange feeling that maybe, just maybe. . . things will be alright.

Dadrry idea: since Harry left his position of head chef and thereâs a second baby now, maybe theyâre struggling a tiny bit with money. Not too much but things are a little stressful and they have to cancel a holiday maybe? Or one of the girls just doesnât get a toy she wants or something? And they have to explain it to the child just while Harry picks up a few more shifts
ââ
Harry handled the finances and was highly aware of each transaction made in the family. With two kids, you both had to be quite frugal, especially since Harry was working fewer hours at the restaurant and you were a stay-at-home mom. While there was never an issue of not having enough money to pay the bills and provide your children with lifeâs necessities, the prospect of running out still haunted your mind. It was possible that an unforeseeable emergency could snatch a hefty chunk of money away. Additionally, there were other boring adult charges like mortgages, taxes, and monthly subscriptions that all left a bigger deduction with each year that passed.
Then there was the summer trip to Italy happening in two months. The plane tickets had already been bought and gifted for Christmas, and the villa was booked in advance. It was expensive, but the other option of staying in a cramped hotel room for a week was undesirable in all regards. The space and privacy were crucial for your sanity.
Italy was not a cheap travel destination per se. There would be money spent every day on transportation, dining, tourist traps, and whatever else sucked you in with its magnificent European beauty. Indulging in extravagance would be tempting, but if you planned and budgeted ahead of time, maybe the financial repercussions of the trip wouldn't be so deplorable. Your wishful thinking was blatantly deceptive.
After putting the kids to bed, you sat at the kitchen table under the dim chandelier and waited for Harry to finish unloading the dishwasher. His silent presence was comfortable as you pondered the logistics of the upcoming trip. Well, pondered was putting it lightlyâyou were brooding.
"I can hear you thinking," Harry said, setting the last bowl in the cupboard to his left. He washed and dried his hands, then walked over to you with his cotton pajama pants slung low on his hips. His bare torso was at your eye level, and you fought the urge to bury your face in the warm, chiseled skin there.
"My head is going to explode," you muttered, feeling an imminent migraine pulsing near your temples.
He fell into the chair beside you, exhausted from an eventful Saturday filled with dad duties, and scooted it closer to you. "Why, baby?" he asked, his palms scrubbing down his face as he yawned.
"I'm overthinking everything."
Placing his elbow on the table, he cradled his cheek in his palm and gave you his full focus. "Break it down for me."
"There's mainly one thing." You huffed, deciding to broach the topic before it got swept under the rug. "The Italy trip. Prices are going up, and I'm worried we won't be able to afford going anymore."
Harry's expression was the epitome of flummoxed. "Wait, what? Where is this coming from?"
"You're not working full-time," you explained, "and I'm not raking in any income. I mean, will we be able to financially recover from the trip? What ifâ"
"Hold on, hold on," he said softly, his eyes pinching shut. "Can I interrupt, please?"
You half-heartedly waved your hand in his general direction, in desperate need of his sensible guidance. "Be my guest."
"Let's backtrack for a second. Honey, why do you think we won't be able to afford it? The biggest costs are already out of the way."
"I just told you why. Think about it, Harry." You tapped the table to emphasize each point. "A meal for four people will probably cost over a hundred dollars. That includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so if we multiply that by the seven days we're there, it's going to be well over a thousand dollars."
"Okay," he said. He didn't seem to have anything to add after that, so you continued.
"Then there's transportation." You groaned, staring up at the ceiling. "We still have to decide if we're renting a car. If not, we'll have to pay for a bus, or a train, or a taxi. That's going to add up very quickly."
"Mm-hmm." Harry had a dopey look on his face, a hint of a smile tugging the corners of his lips up. Whatever. You were being realistic, and he was in a dreamland where money grew on trees.
You carried on, getting tangled in the vines of your brain's dense jungle. "And then what about all the sightseeing and activities? That's the most expensive aspect." You shrugged helplessly. "I was recently searching for free things to do in Tuscany. I guess there are a lot of buildings we can look at, but I don't know if the kids would enjoy it."
Harry nodded along. When he realized you were done with your long-winded explanation, he lifted his eyebrows and said, "It's a good thing we can spoil them with the raise I got yesterday."
"And alsoâwhat?" You stopped abruptly, catching your breath. Did he just...?
Harry stood and bent down to kiss your forehead in that sweet way of hisâgentle and imploring, like he wanted to caress your brain and will it to calm down. "I got a raise yesterday," he repeated nonchalantly, nuzzling his nose into your hair.
"Why didn't you tell me?" you demanded, lightly smacking his shoulder.
"I'm telling you right now. I wanted to wait until we had a moment to ourselves." He crouched in front of you, holding your knees just like he'd done when you told him you were pregnant for the second time. The memory was so vivid that it almost left you stunned with emotion. "Five percent pay raise. We're going to be just fine." His simple smile was remedial. "We are not canceling this trip."
You exhaled, releasing all of your worries into the air, the pounding in your temples dissipating. "Why didn't you stop me from rambling on?"
"Because it's healthy to speak those types of thoughts aloud instead of letting them simmer," Harry replied like the perfect husband he was.
You cupped his cheeks and kissed him deeply, pouring all of your love and gratitude into it. "I'm so proud of you," you whispered against his mouth. He savored your words by humming and sliding his tongue across yours for a brief second. "I appreciate the hard work you put into making our little family happy. And thank you for making this vacation possible."
"Wanted to spoil my girls," Harry murmured, craning his neck to kiss you more. His wet lips pulled at yours, greedy for their pliancy.
"Are you going to pick up more hours at the restaurant?" you asked in between the sounds of lip-smacking and heavy breathing. Something about him at night, in the dimly lit kitchen, with you as his sole focus, was igniting that secret fuse only he could play with.
"Shhh..." His fingers dug into your waist as he lifted you off the chair. Your legs and arms wrapped around him, warmth flooding right under your skin like wildfire. "No more work talk. I want some alone time with my wife before a hungry baby wakes us up."
You giggled and bit his bottom lip in excitement before he carried you to the bedroom.
Miraculously, your six-month-old gave the both of you forty minutes of uninterrupted time to roll around in the sheets.
When you went to sleep later that night, visions of Tuscany's hillside vineyards and swimming in the vast sea erased your concerns. As did the unequivocal vision of the man beside you making precious memories with his babies.
With Harry, there was no need to sweat the small stuff. His eyes were set on the most important thingâfamily.
