after everything we learned in veilguard about the extent of solas' commitment to mythal's service, this line from solas in dai may actually kill me lmao. the way he is absolutely beside himself in that scene, the yelling, the frustration, the regret. his mask slips about as much as we ever see it slip in dai.

because he saw himself in an inquisitor who drank from the well. saw what he had done for mythal, everything for her, the good, the bad, the horrific. an entire empire fell at their hands, and as a member of her service, marked with her vallaslin, solas did these things because he felt he had no choice. he doesn't want to watch that happen to anyone else. it's why free will is so important to solas. it's why he started the rebellion against the evanuris in the first place.

This could be a weird take but do you ever get the feeling that Darius doesn’t exactly fit the mold of an otome game man? Like idk how to explain it but his actions sometimes lean less towards romantic and more towards his own agenda and nefarious acts? This makes less sense the more I type but it’s just the feeling I get from him which is gonna make his route all the more exciting. my thoughts on darius’ “love” ↓

i have mentioned this before, but despite what darius says, i think he is capable of love. he shows some signs of this in the story itself, but the fact he is introduced as a love interest proves this objectively, as those incapable of love would inherently be unable to play the role of a love interest of an otome game. but i cant deny his way of “love” is just…inherently warped, and it feels so rooted in him that its questionable whether “true love” could remedy it. whether that’s due to his trauma or curse (or maybe both), im not sure, but he does give me the vibe of someone where the relationship just grows more gnarly and twisted as time goes on. it feels like hes a walking ticking bomb. one that, if kate doesnt defuse it first, she will end up broken by his hands.

but also if and when they do get into a relationship, i can’t imagine darius showing love in a very conventional way either. i think smth interesting to think abt is that, in his jealousy bond story, he says smth like bad children get a punishment and good children a reward. somehow, i think that sort of almost black and white philosophy will play into their love. though i cant really say how. (and maybe i will be completely wrong too,,!)

im sure things will be made at least a little more clear in his route anyhow!

also hmm…idk if youre familiar with this game, but in an otome game called piofiore no banshō, theres a character named yang, who also very clearly doesnt fit into the typical otome love interest. but if you have played that game and his route, yang is also capable of love, and yk he loves lili by the (best) end, but his love toward her doesnt change the fact that he is brutal, is ok with killing, etc. it definitely does not make him any more romantic lmao, and you never hear him once say the words “i love you” in a genuine sense. i would say darius may, in some ways, be comparable…?

for most of the Blight, it was fuck up after fuck up. like I play it so that I have enough ppl to help me fight the archdemon, but in my personal headcanon, she pissed off a lot of potential help (whether it be Circle mages who overheard her saying she was "gonna annul this shit" out of anger, eamon's men who did NOT like her, bhelen who didn't really trust the fact that she knew nothing about politics), left a bad taste in people they came across and picked a fight with anora

which I think makes sense for a 20 year old ill-adjusted young woman who had to learn how to be more selfless. beating the archdemon was pure luck mixed with people just NOT WANTING the Blight to destroy ferelden and realizing joining the fight was the only way to stay alive

amihan does grow, but it's slow, she has to process trauma, understand she hurt people and ruined their lives and to actually experience what it's like being loved (both platonic and romantic)

I tend to not post so much abt how much amihan fucked up and almost let a Blight swallow ferelden bc I tend to feel anxious abt how ppl will receive it but I think it's important to her character and it's fun and interesting for me to play with it in this case

immy is 100% more competent than amihan, in spite of her own flaws, but I love both my messy and my scaredy cat girl all the same
