I've been into internet culture since I was like 10 and I dont think I've seen a fandom come even CLOSE to the Hellaverse fandom if we're talking about how bad it is

Was in the Super Smash Bros fandom back in 2020 - 2021 and that was extremely toxic (Lots of fighting, harassing the creator for small things and had a pedophile problem)

Then in 2021 - 2023 i was into Friday Night Funkin. I quit that because harassment, bullying, death threats, and even rape threats and doxx threats all because I liked this one mod. And (supposingly) I heard this fandom bullied somebody into suicide.

But Hellaverse? It's way worse. It's these 2 fandoms combined. This fandom goes apeshit if you even ask a QUESTION about the shows or Viv, and their racist, transphobic and pretty much every form of discrimination :/

But seriously, I dont know why Hellaverse is like that but its so horrifying. With what happened to Shay and that Charlastor fan, Im horrified for what this fandom could do next. An actual murder breaking out? Wouldnt be surprised :/

Hard same here, Anon, I've been on the internet for quite some time and I can confirm, without any shadows of a doubt, that the Viv fandom is the most batshit insane and unhinged fandom I've ever seen in my entire life, also, calling it a cult is more than appropriate because it fits the criteria for one, like I'll be showing underneath.

Reasoning behind the check marks:

The Viv stans always see Viv as the "peak" and unquestionable.

Pretty self-explanatory, given how Viv and her standom are terminally allergic to criticism whatsoever, even down to basic world-building questions.

This one is tricky, but the fact that Viv keeps dropping merch sales almost the very second an episode drops and the fact that Viv never is transparent about where the merch money is going exactly exemplifies how Viv never discloses about it.

This one involves the stans blaming the critical / anti community whenever something no ideal happens to Helluva / Hazbin or Viv gets exposed once again as a monster to the whole internet.

The stans actually have made it pretty clear that they don't actually know why the Viv fandom is actively hemorrhaging members, blaming the critical / anti community for it, while the very same stans have harassed countless ex fans into silence and eventually forcing them to leave the cult fandom.

The Shay / Charlastor incidents and how the standom pulled that under the rug, and how Vivziepop refuses to step in about it.

The vast amount of evidence against Vivziepop and Spindlehorse, that keeps piling up to this very day.

(actually 9.) The stans never question Viv at all, and they either work as their attack dogs or yes men.

(10.) Viv always makes sure to feed her unhinged attack dogs through liking / retweeting their post, and the stan proudly proclaims that Viv has noticed and validated them.

Also, Anon, you're not too far off from that murder thingy, sadly, it has been reported that a Viv stan actually doxxed a person and literally went to crash a car against their workplace in an attempt to kill the victim's relative, so yeah, I'm not doubting that the Viv fandom will keep increasing in kill count as time goes on.

Feyre stared at the invitation as if it were a live grenade.

Of course he would do this. 

Of course. 

Just when her life had finally begun to return to normal. When she had clawed back her mental health and self worth Tamlin had to go and do this. 

It wasn’t enough for him that he and his shitty family had to go and make her feel like the dirt under the soles of their designer shoes. It wasn’t enough that he had traded her in almost immediately for someone ‘more appropriate’ to his station. Someone familiar with the world of old money and fancy silverware who could talk about the tax benefits of some tiny country in the Mediterranean (or had it been in the Caribbean?). 

“You just don’t fit in Feyre,” he had told her as they had driven away from his parent’s house for the final time. 

He broke up with her less than 24 hours later. 

Through a text message. 

Like a fucking coward. 

That had been six months ago. 

And now here she was, staring at a wedding invitation to the wedding of her ex and his new bride. 

It was so…cruel. 

She wouldn’t have thought him capable of such cruelty, but that was before she had received a break up text and all of her belongings sitting outside her locked apartment after work. There had been no warning. No backup plan. No other apartment she had just happened to be paying the lease on in case of something like this happening. 

He had seen to that. 

He had made sure to keep her vulnerable and dependent upon him until he could discard her at his leisure. If not for Mor and her exceptionally comfortable couch, Feyre would have likely spent those tumultuous first few post-break up months on the street. 

And yet, after all that, here she was back at square one. Feeling almost exactly as she had upon arriving upon Mor’s doorstep. 

Lost. Alone. Utterly betrayed. 

Fuck Tamlin. 

He didn’t need to do this. He could have easily pretended she ceased to exist the moment she was out of sight and just gotten married with her none the wiser. But no. It couldn’t be that easy. He had to rub her face in it. Show off her replacement and force her to smile and pretend to be happy for them. 

What kind of game was he playing?

Because whatever it was…she didn’t want to play. 

“Fuck you,” she told the invitation. 

Feyre decided now was as good a time as any to get drunk. If she was lucky, she’d black this whole thing out of her memory and forget about the invitation entirely.

“I texted Rhys.”

Feyre groaned. 

They had just settling in for their weekly date of Pride and Prejudice and enough chocolate to make Feyre’s doctor squint at her with disapproval. It had become their ritual of sorts after she had landed herself on Mor’s couch after the whole Tamlin fiasco. Because nothing was as healing to the soul as watching longing looks across a ballroom and stuffing one’s faces with an ill-advised amount of sugar. 

“I thought you were kidding about that.”

“Why would I joke about that?” 

“I’m not bothering your cousin with my bullshit.”

Mor waved away her concern with the kind of casual arrogance only achieved through a lifetime of privilege and a healthy dollop of nosiness. 

“Well that’s too bad, because he lives for this kind of bullshit. I think it’s what powers him through those boring ass business meetings with his dad.” 

“I thought that was spite?”

“That too.”

Feyre pursed her lips skeptically before popping another piece of chocolate into her mouth. 

“He says he’ll do it.”

Feyre nearly choked. 

“What?! Why?!!” 

“He said he couldn’t leave a damsel in distress.” 

“But…why would he even care?” She asked, bewildered. “He’s never even met me.” 

“No,” Mor agreed with a smile. “But he does know Tammy.”

Feyre jolted like she’d stuck her finger in an electrical socket. 

“What?!”

“Oh yeah, he and Tamlin go way back. Their fathers used to work at Goldman together and both got shunted off to some boarding school upstate. They basically spent every waking moment together when they were kids.”

“So…” Feyre said with a sinking feeling roiling in her stomach. “They’re friends.”

Mor’s smile widened. “Oh no. They despise each other.” 

“…Why?” She was still trying to grapple with the fact that this man had even agreed to this at all. 

Mor’s expression hardened. “Something about his sister. I never got the full details but it was enough for him to go nuclear on Tamlin. He hasn’t spoken to him since.” 

“I see…” 

And she did. Here was a man who hated Tamlin as much as she did, offering to be her date to his wedding just to stick it to her ex. It was petty. It was mean. 

It was perfect. 

Before she could think better of it, Feyre came to a decision. 

“Give him my number.”

Mor smiled. 

“I already did.”

Feyre began regretting agreeing to this meeting the moment she entered the cafe. 

She had been texting with him for the last week. 

Rhys. 

Most of it was the usual ‘I just want to make sure you’re not a psycho’ smalltalk. Lots of ‘So where do you work?’ and ‘If you turn out to be an imposter I just want you to know that Mor has the DA on speed dial’. But eventually, once they were both satisfied the other wasn’t a serial killer, they set up a meeting. 

To plot. 

And plan. 

Feyre glanced at her phone again, checking the time for the twentieth time in the last fifteen minutes. 

What if he didn’t show up? What if he was just humoring her? What if this was all just some elaborate joke Tamlin had somehow orchestrated to make her look like an idiot?

(Okay, maybe that last one was just her catastrophizing a bit.)

She was just…nervous. 

What did she even really know about this guy?

That he was Mor’s cousin? That he worked for his (very rich) father’s cutthroat investment firm? That he grew up in the same old money circles as Tamlin?

It was…not a lot to go on now that she really thought about it. 

Why was she agreeing to this again?

She saw an image of herself arriving at Tamlin’s wedding. Alone. Pitied and condescended to while she watched the man she had loved marry someone else. 

Ah. Yes. Now she remembered. 

“Fucking asshole,” she muttered. 

“Feyre?” 

She glanced up, expecting some random acquaintance…and blinked. 

And then blinked again. 

Rhysand Knight stared back at her with a cheeky smile. 

Huh. 

His photos on Mor’s instagram didn’t do him justice. 

At all. 

Feyre felt her brain try to make sense of what was in front of her. It felt a bit like meeting a Calvin Klein model in real life and realizing that not only did they look as good as they did in the pictures, but they looked better. 

“Hello. It is Feyre, right?” He smiled, flashing a set of perfectly white, perfectly straight teeth at her in a way that left her feeling a little dazed. 

“Umm, yeah,” she said, blinking up at him. 

God, why couldn’t she stop blinking?

He slid smoothly into the seat across from her, smiling pleasantly as if they did this every Tuesday. 

“Sooo…” she said, glancing about for something to stare at that wasn’t his stupidly pretty face. She settled on his coffee cup, reading the girlish script scrawled across the front. She couldn’t help noticing that the barista had spelled his name wrong. 

“So.” Rhys agreed. 

“I…umm, I got your texts.”

God, she sounded like a moron. Idly, Feyre wondered if someone could die of embarrassment. 

“Oh I know,” he said happily. “Apple has this wonderful feature that tells me exactly when you’ve read my text messages. Very handy.” 

She scowled. 

“Mor never told me you were a smart ass.”

Rhys grinned like a shark. “Really? I would’ve thought that would be the first thing she’d have brought up.”

“Must’ve slipped her mind.”

“Must have,” he nodded sagely.

An awkward silence set in then before Rhys eventually decided to take pity on her. 

“So,” he leaned forward, amused. He thought he was so funny. “I hear you need a date to a wedding.”

For lack of a better response, she nodded stiffly. 

“To Dear old Tammy’s wedding.”

She nodded again. 

“Well then I’d be delighted to accompany you, if you’ll have me.” 

“But…why?” She blurted out. “I thought you hated him?” 

“Oh I’m always up for taking the opportunity to piss Tamlin off. Call it a personal pass time of mine.”

Feyre supposed she sort of understood where he was coming from. Though, personally, she had always preferred to steer clear of her exes after the relationship had run its course. She was only agreeing to this insane plan because Tamlin had thrown down the gauntlet. 

And she had never been one to back down from a challenge. 

No matter how ill-advised. 

“I guess I just don’t really understand why you…care,” she ended lamely. “He isn’t your ex. Why would you bother making him feel bad about dumping some stranger?”

Rhys stared at her with an odd expression. Like he was trying to crack his way into her head and figure out what made her tick. 

“Darling, if I had been stupid enough to fumble a woman like you I would deserve what was coming to me.”

Feyre startled, not really sure how to respond to that. How was she even supposed to take that?

“Umm...thank you?” 

“Beside,” he continued. “If he didn’t want you showing up with his least favorite person he shouldn’t have sent you that invitation.”

Well she certainly couldn’t argue with that logic. 

“Honestly, I don’t even know why he invited me in the first place,” she grumbled irritably. 

“Oh it’s more than clear why he’s invited you,” he leaned closer, a conspiratorial smile on his face. “But we’ll make him regret it won’t we?”

Feyre felt a glimmer of hope bloom in her chest. 

“He didn’t deserve you. And we’re going to make him see that.” 

Rhys raised his cup of coffee in a salute. 

“Fuck ‘em.”

Feyre couldn’t help but smile as she raised her own cup. 

“Yeah. Fuck ‘em.”

She should’ve been expecting it after that conversation. 

And yet Feyre still found herself quite caught by surprise a week later when she arrived home to a giggling Mor standing over a suspiciously large package. 

With her name on it. 

“It’s for you,” Mor sing-songed helpfully. 

Feyre eyed it dubiously before zeroing in on the name of a boutique in the space for the sender. 

“He didn’t…” she groaned. 

“Oh I assure you, he did,” her roommate laughed. 

Feyre grimaced. 

No matter, she thought as she squirreled the box away into Mor’s closet. Out of sight, out of mind. 

Except, she discovered later in the week, she couldn’t stop thinking about it. 

What was in the box?

Well, a dress, obviously. 

But what kind of a dress?

An expensive one, she thought grouchily when she later looked up the name of the boutique during a moment of weakness. Figures. 

Well…it wouldn’t hurt to try it on…right? After all, what were the odds that he had even gotten her size right? 

Very good, it turned out. 

Feyre eyed herself in the mirror later that night with bemused shock and a grudging sort of pleasure. 

It fit perfectly. 

In fact, it felt…tailored. 

But…how? How had he known her size? He’d only met her the once! And she’d been wearing a shapeless sweater that left literally everything to the imagination. And it’s not like she had told him her measurements. In fact, she had very pointedly ignored him when he had tried to get the information out of her in their texts. 

Mor, she thought after a beat. She must’ve given him her measurements. It was the only explanation for how perfectly this fit. 

Yeah. 

That must be it. 

Feyre smoothed her hand down the bodice of the dress thoughtfully. 

It really was a beautiful gown. 

“Well,” she said to herself, admiring the fall of the fabric in her reflection. “He sure knows how to make a statement, I’ll give him that.” 

And what a statement it would make. 

She wondered, idly, what Tamlin would make of it–of her–arriving dressed like…this. Would he be upset? Would he hate it?

The thought made her…lighter. She felt…confident. 

Brave. 

Yes, she thought happily. This’ll do just fine.

My posts have been centered, again, specifically on published journalists picking Daggerheart aprt critically and applauding themselves for doing so despite it being within a couple of hours of its release and therefore any analysis is necessarily going to be based on at best, a skim, when they just as frequently will claim D20 seasons/Kollok are flawless works of genius based on only a partial read, but man D20's got a fandom problem too. (and all of the following comes with the caveat of "I really enjoy D20, and Dropout, and while we're at it WBN and NADDPod which both are half D20 Intrepid Heroes cast, and think Brennan is a particularly brilliant GM, and also it's obvious that the D20 and CR casts are on great terms, and wish the fandom for D20 were more welcoming and enjoyable because I feel it wasn't like this when I first started watching, as a CR fan, in late 2019 and has since curdled into something really weird and bad.")

The first point is the obvious one: technically speaking these are both products. These are performers doing an art form; it is also a portion of how they make their money with which they can buy goods and services. Believing that art is inauthentic when the artist gets paid and acknowledges that is a thing that happens is a fucking libertarian position at best. Like cool, you think only people who are independently wealthy by other means can make art, because it's not real labor, my kid could paint that, etc etc.

The second point is also pretty obvious. I have pushed back pretty hard on the "uwu CR is just watching friends! it's like we're in their living room" mentality among the fandom, which has decreased, thankfully, but like...it did in fact start organically as a private home game, and they decided, when invited, to make it A Show For An Audience. D20 was created on purpose as a show for an audience. This doesn't make it bad or fake - reread the previous paragraph - but in terms of "this is an group of people who really played D&D in this world together even before the cameras were rolling," Critical Role literally is that, and D20 is not.

I think beyond that...my biggest issues with the D20 fandom are first, the level of discourse is abominable. The tag is almost always just shrieking praise and the most surface-level readings possible. I keep bringing up the "Capitalism is the BBEG" mug but it genuinely sums up so much of how I feel; people who want their existing beliefs fed to them as surface-level no-nuance takes. I mean capitalism is fucking terrible but I do not need every work I watch to have a character turn to the camera and say "capitalism is bad" to enjoy myself, and indeed it makes it harder due to the lack of subtlety and grace. For all D20 fans complain about how unhealthily parasocial CR fans can be (and some can be), I find that a lot of the most unhealthily parasocial "how dare they BETRAY my TRUST by having a ship I don't like or not speaking up about every single societal ill" ex-CR fans move over to D20 and then pull the exact same shit; it simply doesn't get called out. Every time D20 fans are like "we don't want to become the CR fandom" it's like "your toxic positivity and unhealthy parasocial behavior exceeds the HEIGHT of what I've seen in CR; the main difference is that CR started in 2015 when D&D was still shaking off the raging bigot dudebros and so in the early days it acquired more of those fans, whereas by the time D20 came around the landscape of who played D&D and watched Actual Play had shifted wildly, and you need to judge September 2018 D20 fans in parallel to September 2018 CR fans, not September 2015 CR fans."

I also feel, and I alluded to this in the post about journalism, and other people have said this better than I have, but the pedestal people have put D20 on does feel like a single...not even misstep, but just, difficult choice that doesn't capitulate to the loudest fans will bring a good chunk of that fandom crashing to the ground. And that includes the journalists. For all the fans of CR can still be obsessed with the cast to an unhealthy degree? The cast and company have put up pretty strong boundaries and have not budged. D20 hasn't, and I think the second they do - and I think it will be for their benefit as a company and a channel - a big chunk of their most vitriolic CR-hating portion of the fandom will viciously turn on them.

The situation regarding ppl who question why majority of your ships are m/f remind me of the Voltron legendary defender fandom treatment of klance va Allura ex. I used to be a klance shipper in that fandom which was #1 ship at the time but years not so much because of the misogynoir that Allura ( in this reboot she is black ) faced especially Allura very became canon in the show. The fandom were so toxic about klance and in some fanfic they would have Allura be rude, a bitch, or barely mention at all or worse. In the finale of the show she sacrificed herself to save the universe ( made me cry because she deserve better after how the fandom and writers treated her) and some artists used her death to ship klance such as come back to life for a quick second to tell lance to get together with Keith. I get klance was popular because of enemies to lovers btwn 2 poc leads( lance was Cuban but the show never confirm if Keith was Asian or not) but allurnace feature 2 dark skinned characters which I don’t see a lot of. Keep doing your ships featuring black girls being love

I never got into Voltron ....I actually had to blacklist "Klance" and the names Keith and Lance because people would go insane with anything blue or green that poor OC artists sort of got caught up in the cross hairs.

I think it's been on that list for like...nearly a decade at this point (if I don't fuck with a series I just do not fuck with a series)

BUT I am not surprised that people would mistreat a dark skinned female character because that's just an ongoing problem in fandoms that will never be fixed. Black and brown girls are typically gonna be mistreated in series and fandoms when they ain't in the hands of black and brown folks. And fandoms are so bad with handling people of color that it's just an ongoing cycle of of suckin'.

Wow... I've followed you since 2013 when I was a huge fan of Naruto and NaruSaku too (still a huge fan of NaruSaku but not much of Naruto series itself lmao). I can't believe that even after so many years (after looking at your twitter that is) there's still an insane amount of people shading on NS or Sakura. I'm so glad I mostly moved on from the series, the Naruto fandom in general truly sucks ass (sorry for being so forward). But I'm glad you're one of the survivors, I still love following your stuff and how much you show your love for NaruSaku and Sakura. It gives me some nostalgia when I would read an enormous amount of doujins, when I had a facebook page dedicated to NaruSaku, the artists I loved to follow (LadyGT, Natsumi33, Taichikun14, etc), the friends I made along the way and even my ex girlfriend who also loved NS and Sakura. Everything is gone except the memories. Just wanted to share how I feel about all this stuff. I hope you have a wonderful day and keep rocking as you usually do!

First of all, thank you for following me for so many years, what an honour! 🙏

Second of all, yes, people for some reason have this inexplicable hatred towards Sakura/NaruSaku as if they hurt their own mothers or something. I don’t really get it…

Like, it’s been so long??? I personally made peace with everything that happened and just mind my own business most of the times. Like don’t get me wrong, I still have my opinions regarding how certain things are treated and still voice them here & there, but to go to the levels that this fandom goes now? Hell no.

Hatred is too big of a word for me to even use. I used to feel it in the end of the series due to how things were happening, but then I took a few steps back & noticed how toxic the environment was & nowadays I’m like nope, not dipping my toe into that anymore.

Which is why I stay in my own lane for the most part. I choose to focus on the love I still have for NaruSaku & for the series, even if it didn’t end the way it seemed to.

I took all that hatred I once had and I transmuted it so to speak and now I use everything as a fuel for Kaika & all the other projects I’m in.

Because, even if I did dislike the way things ended with the series, I still hold dear some of the messages it left behind.

And one of them is connected to the cycle of hatred which I refuse to be part of.

Even if the IP ironically bases most of its strategy around creating strife between the fandoms to generate engagement, which in turns generates hatred - honestly speaking, this is one of the most disappointing aspects of Naruto franchise, given the themes of the story, but alas…

But yeah, as I said, after separating myself from the fandom for a while and realizing that the toxicity had gotten to me too, I chose to get back to the core of why I fell in love with the series, and at the center of it I remembered all the memories and friends I made along the way, like you are saying, the joy it brought me to do all those analyses and whatnot.

Not to mention it’s the series that helped me discover my own creativity, and here I am today, taking my first steps on the road of becoming a published author someday. Because as I said, Kaika is my playground to learn all the ins & outs of this world.

It helps to have had amazing people like LadyGT whose legacy is absolutely unique to any fandom, dare I say. We were so blessed to have her in our community.

Aaah, here I am, getting nostalgic again.

But man, really, what beautiful journey & memories.

I wanna say Ad vitam æternam (L'art du crime)? I mean, it's literally an MCD fic, so, not that merry... Also if I remember correctly, Always lost in the sea (HPI) doesn't end on a very hopeful note either.

I don't know? All of them? None? I generally tend to go for happy open endings with that extra bit of bittersweet so I really couldn't tell. But hey, maybe the ending to that thing I'm currently writing actually is the happiest of it all, because oh boy, things do get cheesy at some point 🥺

No at all! Unless you count that one person who commented on several chapters of whichever long GG fic I wrote just to point blank hate on Beth character lol

Of course I do (in English only), I like my porn toxic and desperate and angsty with just the right amount of power play and mutual hatred. Basically, I write hatefuck 😂

Not really, no... I've tried a couple of times, but I think I'm better at/more interested in mimicking existing interactions than inventing a dynamic between characters who never met canonically (and also, boy the kind of SETUP you need to justify some characters crossing paths... it's just too much work). I'm more of a cameo/easter egg kind of writer, so once in a while I'll allow a character from another fandom to pop up in a fic and say hi, but it's really a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of encounter.

I guess my craziest attempt would be that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend / Good Girls crossover that I never finished though, cause like, super different moods?

It's All Coming Back To Me, obviously. Look, I really really want to finish it, not even for me at this point, but for the 120-something people who subscribed to it, for the faithful readers who still leave me comments every now and then hoping for closure. I know how it ends. I have it partially written. I just don't seem to know how to write for Good Girls anymore, and getting my head back into it feels like such an insurmountable load of work, I just- I'm trying, ok?

But like, if someone's interested in helping, or even writing that ending based on my notes (and getting full and proper credits for it obvi), just let me know! I'm really open to it 🥲

Probably dialogues? I've been told many times that my dialogues feel very close to the original, and the thing is, I write about TV shows and I have a very good ear so I think I catch quite easily the actors' voices and tones and mannerisms in my head, so every time I write down a line, I play it several times in my mind with the character's voice to determine whether they would say it like that or not. Looks like it's not working so bad.

Also I *think* I'm not too bad at stream-of-consciousness inner monologues. At least it's one of my favourite things to write so there's that.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action scenes (that includes sex lol). Filling the gaps between the important parts. Descriptions. Setting up the scene.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Like, featuring two different languages inside the same fic, or writing in different languages? I'm not sure I've ever really written the first one? I guess I find it a bit clunky, occasionally I've written scenes that included a character whose native language wasn't the one of the fic, and I'd give them a line or two if that's relevant to the plot (for instance, if characters are lost somewhere in another country, I can add a line/dialogue in another language for comedic effect. Or it can be a way for a character to whisper something for themselves), but the logistics are quite nightmarish, you gotta either assume your audience knows the second language, or translate the lines in the author's note, or have another character translate it in a way that doesn't sound too articifial, that's really really tedious haha

Writing a Voltron Reboot;

Would people be interested if I rewrote a new Voltron reboot? So it's an Au where earth WAs destroyed colonised and the Garrison Trio are actually scavengers trying to survive/sell and trade on the planet Galran. That they only heard stories about Altea and how they were the only ones who could defeat the Galra. Keith is a Galran soldier who rescues Shiro the Champion and Lance takes a chance and all five of them escape and end up finding Altea who are still alive and thriving and have to finally stand up and fight Zarkon once and for all.

So it's like the multiverse Chapter with Slav and this was another way Voltron defended the Universe. Hate being on the spectrum and getting obsessed over something people have probably forgotten/moved on from. But I want to write a fanfiction and heal something dang it. Even if this post gets five notes I might write ideas/prompts here just to get it out my mind so then I can finally move on.

coz I just didn't watch season 8 and focused on other shows/fandoms and wrote and made content but I still keep coming back like a girl going back to her toxic Ex. -_-

My two cents at the Johnto discourse since "complexity" is at play here:

1. The audio has explicitly called back on the imagery of mirrors representing the fact that the events that took place in this particular audio is an alternate timeline. Everything in this audio did not happen in TV Torchwood's canon.

(Although, I'm one of the people that don't believe in canon when it comes to the Whoniverse, but we're speaking in narratives here. You can argue that TV John is still capable of doing such things considering what transpired in the episodes involving him, but there's still a particular part of his character that we tend to overlook which I will be picking up at #5).

2. You are ALLOWED to be uncomfortable with the contents of this audio as you can with many other forms of media and many types of fandom. This audio was an experimental approach to Torchwood as a whole, John is Jack's narrative foil and his character is supposed to show that "this is what would happen if Captain Jack Harkness never attempted to be the better person in any chance he gets."

Jack is not a good person, but he's not inherently evil either. John is definitely not a good person, you could say he's Jack's evil counterpart, but you can still see a sense of humanity in John's character especially when you see him interact with Jack.

(See: The latter portion of TDOCJ when Jack realized that John went back to him because he wanted to stop the universe from collapsing, the entirety of Peach Blossom Heights in The Sins of Captain John, and smidges of dialogue between the two where John's behavior can be easily labelled as "a crazy and clingy ex.")

3. Ianto wasn't the only one who suffered in John's reign in the audio (I know that sounds horrible since I'm putting him aside but bear with me here, he'll have the whole portion after this).

Gwen was coerced to have sex with John and it immediately moves to the part of the timeline where John deliberately killed Gwen, John killing Rhys when he was (understandably) upset with not being informed that his girlfriend died, Tosh was literally treated as a disposable, and you could barely get anything from Owen since he was only mentioned once.

What Ianto went through is undoubtably SA. The way John toyed with Ianto is completely unacceptable and it should not be glorified, romanticized, or repeated in any way, shape, or form. That being said, as a fellow polycule Ianto, Jack, and John enjoyer, this audio is definitely NOT the sole reason why people ship Johnto, or conjure ship content involving John.

I'd like to refer you to this post involving Ianto's many horrible non-consensual happenings in his relationships throughout every Torchwood timeline out there (with Ianto ALWAYS being the victim). John and Ianto's relationship in this audio is also the potential outcome of "if Jack and Ianto's relationship were to be more toxic and unethical in the workplace" (and their relationship in TV Torchwood was hardly on equal grounding, too).

A VERY IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL NOTE:

I'm not stating that Jack and Ianto's relationship should be seen in a negative light, pointing out the flaws and toxic traits of a relationship doesn't make their love for each other and entire relationship any less valid. Their relationship is complicated and that's normal, I'm only pointing out the power imbalance in Jack and Ianto's relationship when viewing it in a workplace setting (being Torchwood).

Said power imbalance doesn't mean I'm ignoring the choice of both Jack and Ianto to start and keep the relationship going as they are both consenting adults, whatever problems that may cause between and outside them will follow (it's just unfortunate that in Ianto's story, he always gets involved in fucked up arrangements in his relationships because of Torchwood, whether platonic, familial, or romantic).

4. Creating ships and pairs that could potentially be toxic for either or both parties is not a new concept. If done right, liking complicated ships and pairs only means you find the dynamic, the narrative, and/or the reaction between each persons interesting, it could even be used as a study for people who are interested in making a story because stories cannot exist without conflict. This also means you don't actively support the good or bad things about a ship or a narrative, that's the point of having an audience in the first place: members of fandoms are meant to criticize the source, whether it's in a positive or negative way, because people find a way to make something new out of it in the most creative way possible. That's what fandom is.

5. Captain John Hart as a character was never meant to be taken too seriously in the first place. His behavior in The Sins of Captain John proves as such, and using him at TDOCJ was a perfect way of presenting the exaggerated "what-if" situation as he perfectly thrives in parodies and he thrives in the purest form of pettiness and unfiltered, somewhat childishly edgy entertainment. No doubt, he's a murderous, selfish asshole, but liking a villain character doesn't reflect your character as the viewer and consumer of the character's content (See: The Master).

Remember that this is Torchwood, the show where everyone is capable of doing the most unethical and immoral thing to get to their objective, and Captain John Hart and Ianto Jones are not exempted from such influence.

Most importantly, always handle discourse in a civilized manner. Coming after people while making a point will become futile as there will be no discussion made when someone gets hurt.

You're allowed to critcize the content, but don't judge the people who enjoy it. Appreciating a supposedly problematic ship does not reflect on their overall humanity.

Disclaimer: I stopped reading around Bramblestar's storm, and while I keep up with the fandom and don't mind spoilers, I'm only talking about the canon until that point. Otherwise, I don't have a fandom license.

And the TLDR of it is: I personally find them annoying, but with the Warriors fandom being full of Bramble bashers and antis, it kind of makes sense why they are that way. Most of these people are trying to pre-emptively defend themselves from unwarranted negative opinions of their posts.

Okay, I don't like people that defend characters on principle, (even I defend Miu a little bit since she suffers from poor translation choices people might not know about) because people should be able to like the most toxic characters imaginable without having to explain themselves to strangers.

Trying to say your fave didn't do anything wrong isn't healthy to fandom. That being said, with the current fandom culture, I understand why they did it.

Warriors writing has changed so much over the years, that arc 2 bramble and current bramble are different people, and not in a "he grew up and changed as a person sort of way." Saying that inconsistent warrior cats writing is completely uninvolved in this current squabble is a D tier take.

That being said, I don't like that all of the conflict resolution for Arc 2 (Squirrelflight being mean to Bramleclaw, but also Brambleclaw treating Squirrelflight like a dumb kid when that isn't who she is anymore) was mostly offscreen. We had a whole writing piece on when she decided to take in the kits, and we couldn't spare the time for one flashback?

(Tangent, I hate the warriors writers for treating infertility like a tragedy, and not just that they'll have to adopt kits now. People in my family are infertile, and it just rubs me the wrong way. Like, if you get a vision from Starclan that you're never going to be able to birth kits, and then some kids "randomly" show up, people will be sympathetic to you if you ask to raise them once they are weaned.)

You could argue these conversations didn't happen, but I think with their power of three characterizations seeming more stable, I'm personally assuming they did.

The one thing I really disagree with in the "Brambleclaw bad" narrative (and this is coming from an Ashfur fan!) is that he's a dick for not wanting to talk about it with her. She lied to him for years, which is even longer in the cat equivalent. She only came clean to him due to outside forces demanding it. What else could she hide from him with a clean conscious?

So Brambleclaw not wanting to talk with his ex after she lied to him for years? Makes perfect sense, and if it happened to me I'd probably be right with him. The only harsh thing that I WILL say to bramble about this, is that it was interfering with his job duties of deputy. Because like it or not, at that point in time he has her boss.

If he's unable to treat her civilly, he should have either stepped down as deputy, or gotten another warrior to help him be more fair.

But this is a man who found out the love of his life was being dishonest to him for most of the relationship, and probably has Green Day or MCR playing in his brain the entire time.

I don't think they should have gotten back together. I really did like the way the idea of Bramble beginning to notice other she-cats was handled really well, and is a logical step to getting out of his slump.

Unfortunately, I've known a handful of toxic people in my lifetime (toxic family leading to toxic dynamics in adult relationships because that behavior was familiar). I'm thinking about why some of these people gave me a weird feeling when I first met them.

I'm trying to get out more, so that the only time I'm out in public isn't just because I'm getting necessities and going to work. I've come to realize that even if I can pick up on a lot of stuff from text, I have grossly underestimated my ability to read body language. So I want to keep it in mind if I end up meeting someone new irl.

I was in a long distance relationship, and while things never sat right through text and video (they hardly ever wanted to video call me, which is a definite redflag for a partner), meeting them in person was a very different experience. I was excited when I got off the plane, only for them to get impatient with me on the phone and act very uninterested when I came up to their car. Seeing their demeanor just absolutely killed my mood. Again, I thought I was being weird for feeling... disappointed? I thought maybe I was nervous? But looking back, the complete lack of enthusiasm was just very strange. Especially considering how, when my friend met her long distance bf, they were so very clearly happy to see each other and cried when they parted ways. That's one thing that made me realize that whatever I had going on wasn't a loving relationship.

And ofc, I blamed myself for not doing enough to make my partner feel loved, because she just seemed really annoyed with me during the whole trip, constantly nitpicking on things like me wasting too much food, being too picky, telling me my hips would look better if I worked out rather than ate. And all these nitpicks were said in the most robotic, matter-of-fact tone, while other times she'd kind of just glare at me for doing something I didn't think would bother her. She also accused me of not caring about her. Not spending enough time around her. Maybe I am a little guilty of the second one, I just remember not feeling very good on that trip at all. I remembered feeling uncomfortable, anxious, and was dissociating pretty hard. I remember not even wanting to be in the same room as her dad because he really, REALLY set off alarms for me, but he was ALWAYS AROUND. At one point, half my body went numb and I just felt like I needed to sit down and get away from everyone. My ex found that very annoying. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was having a panic attack. Also, our time together didn't really feel like it was about us. She spent lots of time doing her own thing and talking to other people while I just sat there like a decoration, ig.

I know this example was long, but I think it shows a lot of the warning behaviors, as well as my own body's reactions to being in that environment and around those people. And again, over text, she could at least pretend to sound more enthusiastic, even though she was still negging and whatnot. But at the same time, all she ever wanted to do was rp her interest, which I shared at the time. And she liked to future fake and tell me to just move in with her already. It became a HUGE problem when I lost interest in the fandom we were in. That's when she really let out her true colors.

And why did I not see the issues with this relationship?

Some other behaviors I've noticed, in different people, are smirking, mean laughter, gazing into your soul, ignoring you, somehow misunderstanding a lot of things you say in the worst way possible (ex did this too tho), constant arguing, and the creepy fake kindness.

Idk if anyone else has noticed the smirk. But you know when a predatory individual thinks they won an argument against you, sees you fall for a lie, and listens to you expose a vulnerable part of yourself, they kind of just get this weird, evil smirk, like they got you? Sometimes, their eyes widen and they start staring at you like your prey. They may even compare you to prey (my roommate used to tell me I was like a mouse, which... I don't see it). It sounds so ridiculous. Like something that would only come out of fiction. But I swear, this is how my roommate used to look at me. It feels almost supernatural with how uncanny it is.

In fact, the smirk has to be the creepiest one imo. Most humans I've interacted with... just don't have that look on their face. I see it a little bit in some customers, but not quite like how my roommate does it. My brother is a good competitor.

And again, I would have thought this shit only happened in books or movies. You know those overly mean characters? Always smirking and giving the protag weird looks? Ig there are people like that irl. I didn't believe it until I saw relatives start doing it, and same with that roommate and some customers.

If I ever meet another potential friend or partner, I plan on journaling how I feel about them. Observe how they change, if they do. Reflect on how they make me feel. I'll try all the harder to listen to my gut. I'll keep things not-very-deep at first and take it slow.

So, first of all, is the series worth reading?

Sort answer is NO.It had potential, it had great premise and great art but it did not deliver any of the things it promises it will.And the fandom is toxic af, I should've know it's a problem when reading the coments made my vein nearly explode.

But why?

First of all there is NO harem romance and by that I mean barely a few kisses.You keep reading and reading and waiting for Latil to finally spend time with her consorts and every single time she needs to go to solve some imperial shit.And that's a HUGE problem when you have "harem" in your title, no matter how good the storry is, if you don't give the readers what they came here for failed at your job.

Second huge problem:The plot

Men of the harem did something I'd warn any writer no matter their niche not to do, add to manny plot points and/or sublots.

We didn't need undeads rising, we didn't need supernatural shit going on, we didn't need 69 political problems.What we needed was Latil solving the misunderstanding with Hyachint, her moving on from that,her past, the harem plot and how she solves the mistery of her father's death.

And when the story doesn't go with 300 km/h we stop at a consort who gave another consort impotents drugs.As if Latil ever slept with any of them.

I think I lost track of what's going on after 50 chapiters and that's by no means good.So please, by all means don't do what this series did and don't worry if you think your storry has to little things to say or show, sometimes less is more.

Another major problem:The main character

Latrasil Valentine Tarium is a toxic, petty, ville and remorseless bitch.That's it, I said it and I'm not taking it back!

Where to start, well she decided to make a harem to ger revenge of her ex, it would be pretty coll if Hyacinth WASN'T BLACKMAILED I TO MARRING AINI TO WIN THE WAR.And before you say something, would you expect Latil to give up and quit the war? I don't think so.

Like girl, if he left you for another I'd understand, I don't have anyhting against you getting multiple men, but to get revenge of a man who had no choice and the fate of his nation was on his shoulders? It's not like you didn't have to fight against your own brother to take the throne that was rightfully yours and you said you understand (she understood ,my ass).Plus it turns out he sended her letters and gifts every week but they where stolen.

Like who's the petty one here? Not to mention the when she sended a letter to Karisen to ask for a consort.How the fuck was that letter aproved, no one in her office was like "Umm Your Majesty I understand he broke your heart but you should think twice before talking shit about the emperor". And in the end when he refuses (with is both understandable and a bad idea) she does some fake girlboss shit that made me cringe so hard, cuz no you ain't shit for acting like you didn't just sended an offensive full of venom letter to a foreing monarh.

And once the harem is made, she does nothing with them, she just shuts them down and treats the poorly.Especialy poor Klein say what you want about him but he didn't deserve to be mistreated like that.It made sense at first since she has an empire to rule but it got old pretty fast.Like girl you wanted a harem don't pretend you don't know how it works.

In the end I'm pretty sure getting your consorts drunk and run your soldiers to exhaustion just so you can read their minds is power abuse, how comes Sonaight allowed that to happen?

And yeah she made him miserable multiple times albeit without that being her intention.But not informing him about who Zaicin is and why she took him as a consort is a big red flag.

Their entire relationship rubs me the wrong way, there's no way she would'n figure out he has feelins for her.And considering both his dad and her maid (or nanny I forgot) told him to let it go mkles it even more clear whatever it is, it's unhealthy.I'm sorry to say it (I'm not) but the ship sank before even sailing.

Sonaught dear, you should let it go, for your own good.

I know I pissed off like half of the fandom with what I said about Latil, but remove the girlboos, strong independent woman from her character and look what's left, it won't be pleasant but it is what it is.

Also not sure if the series wanted itself to be feminist but you can't do that when there are only a handful of female characters and only one of them is consistent in the storry.

I won't ramble to much about how the fandom constantly badmouths Hyacint and magically forgets pretty important plot aspects just to hate on his since my sanity would be damaged.

In the end it's sad the series it's such a disapointment considering it was writen by the author of Remarried Empress, but sometimes people fail and that's fine. (I said that like I didn't just wipe the floor with the series)

Okay, time for a hot take.

Boom "Sonadow,” SPECIFICALLY the Boom versions, is an atrocious ship.

Modern Shadow at least has some moments of getting along with Sonic. Boom Shadow is all the bad parts of Modern Shadow and none of the good parts of Real Shadow (pre-06) that make Shasoni a good ship.

All Boom Shadow has ever done is physically beat and verbally insult Sonic. All of Sonic and Shadow’s interactions in Boom are abusive. But unlike Modern Shadow, Boom Shadow doesn’t have any reason for his behavior.

Modern Shadow at least still has Maria and GUN to give a backstory for the way he is. Boom Shadow has no backstory at all, none of the hidden depths. He’s just a jerkass who randomly shows up to abuse Sonic and his friends.

Shadow was only put in Boom in the first place because the fandom demanded that he be. And it shows. The team making Boom didn’t even LOOK at the original Shadow’s backstory, they just saw “edgy rival, Ultimate Life Form” and shoved a thinly-outlined caricature of the guy into the game and show, not even bothering to explain where the “Ultimate Life Form” title came from, and with the worst voice acting of any Sonic character in history.

A big contribution to why Modern Shadow is so poorly written, because Sega for whatever reason decided that the flanderized personalities in Boom should be the characters’ canon personalities forever and ever. Even as the other characters begin to be written better, they retain an iron grip on Shadow.

But Modern Shadow at least has moments of reason and compassion. Moments that make us actually care for him as one of the good guys.

Boom Shadow is just an asshole who hates everyone, especially Sonic, to the point where HE’S WILLING TO DESTROY THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE TO GET RID OF HIM, and yet for some reason people still insist that behind that he secretly loves Sonic... and Sonic loves him back... just because you ship their FAR more compatible Modern selves so their Boom selves must be the same?

I don’t usually bring up preboot Archie, but that’s like the toxic Sonamy shippers shipping Scourge with Rosy instead of Fiona, not because it’s a better ship, but just because Rosy is Scourge’s version of Amy, and they can’t possibly imagine an alternate Sonic being with anyone else. From what little I’ve seen of her, Rosy is the most badly written version of Amy... but 1000x WORSE, EXPLICITLY yandere, and would probably keep Scourge tied up in her basement.

I am not insulting Modern/Real Shasoni. It’s not one of my OTPs, but it’s pretty cute. But the Boom versions... do not work.

I don’t care about the fanfics out there, Shasoni or not, giving Boom Shadow a backstory and sympathy. The Shadow in those fanfics is not Boom Shadow. He has depth. Canon Boom Shadow does not have depth. He only has abuse.

One exception I will make is a hilarious headcanon I discovered on Discord that actually makes a lot of sense: “Boom Sonic and Shadow are exes.” This actually explains a lot of their spite for each other. But I will not adapt this headcanon as “they will eventually make up and find their way back together.” I see it as “Shadow was the abusive boyfriend that Sonic had to let go of, and Sonic will eventually find a happy relationship with Knuckles or Amy that he can rub in Shadow’s face til the day that edgy fucker dies, alone and unloved.”

Yes, he dies. He’s not immortal like Modern/Real Shadow. Nothing and nobody in Boom canon says he is, even if the Sonic wiki does. Nothing even says he’s the Ultimate Life Form. It’s just a title that he randomly has. It was never explained. And it never will be explained, now that Sega has decided to exile Boom from existence.

I will say it again: There is nothing wrong with the Sonadow/Shasoni ship as a whole. It is the most popular ship in the franchise, and I can see why. But shipping their Sonic Boom counterparts, specifically those versions, will never sit right with me.
