feng xin gets seen as someone who's subservient and a blind rule-follower but he didn't really quite come off that way to me in the novel. if he were a total rule-follower he wouldn't cuss with such vulgar words all the time in heaven - but he clearly doesn't care about social etiquette in heaven or elsewhere. he talked back to xie lian on multiple occasions. when xie lian threatened to break up their friendship in book 2, feng xin's response was to laugh and insinuate that xie lian wouldn't survive a day without feng xin. clearly talking back to xie lian. he even punched xie lian in the face in book 4. he disagreed with xie lian's actions in book 4 when xie lian began to do things like nearly kill an innocent mortal just for insulting xie lian, bc this goes against feng xin's own moral compass.

i personally don't see him as a subservient rule-follower but as someone who deeply respects xie lian for xie lian's principles and moral compass (which feng xin agrees with bc they align with feng xin's already-present strong principles of his own). it's not blind following but deep respect out of having shared principles.

I do want to clarify that I do not hate children. In fact, I work quite often with children, and have for many years.

Minors are just as permitted in fandom as adults, it's a space intended for everyone.

But waaaay too many parents are really taking a hands off approach to parenting nowadays, and there's a lot of really entitled kids (aka, brats) online that trod all over everyone else, expect every space to be child friendly, and ultimately get annoyed when certain spaces are kept for adults only.

And those are the kind of kids that I want nothing to do with. Especially when they reach an age where they should 100% know better and where multiple people are trying to correct them, but they're just ignoring em to continue being disrespectful.

Be respectful, not a brat.

With the revelation that The Amazing Digital Circus will be streaming on Netflix, now is a good time to distinguish indie animation versus indie-kickstarted animation.

Glitch is still funding and producing TADC entirely on her own (with the help of her team, of course). Netflix is just going to become a secondary streaming service to Youtube. Netflix holds NO say in the future of TADC. TADC is an independent cartoon series!

Vivziepop receives funding from A24. A24 has a say in whether or not we get more Hazbin Hotel because of Vivziepop's contract with them. Hazbin Hotel is NOT an independent cartoon series.

Helluva Boss, however, IS an independent cartoon series. Its production is entirely reliant on Vivziepop.

I wanted to point this out because ever since Glitch dropped the news I've been seeing a lot of people going "damn it's not indie animation anymore" and that's simply not true. I also want to take this chance to say that for how much you all were hyping up Vivienne for "making huge moves for the indie animation community" I better see that same energy for Glitch, who is taking an arguably larger step by showing that you can get your show on a streaming platform without having to sacrifice creative control.

It's so weird that this December 9th will mark one year of being in the COD fandom... in just one year, my taste in men has done almost a 180, and somehow, I'm happier for it. More self respecting. A lot happened this year, but Task Force-141, Kortak, and the Ghosts have been there for me.

Look I love Ethel Cain/Hayden and her music very much and elements of her most recent post about ideaologies in the US are very poignant and well thought out.

Anyway, wouldn't it be nice if we started to support their right for self determination and freedom from the oppression of colonial rule? Wouldn't it be nice if we support the complete and immediate abolition of all colonizer countries, which are *checks notes* every single country in the American continent plus the island ones? Wouldn't it be nice if we started telling all the settlers, conquistadors and immigrants to Go Back To Where They Came From?
